PLayerTV: Advanced Player Tracking and Identification for Automatic Soccer Highlight Clips

In the rapidly evolving field of sports analytics, the automation of targeted video processing is a pivotal advancement. We propose PlayerTV, an innovative framework which harnesses state-of-the-art AI technologies for automatic player tracking and identification in soccer videos. By integrating object detection and tracking, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and color analysis, PlayerTV facilitates the generation of player-specific highlight clips from extensive game footage, significantly reducing the manual labor traditionally associated with such tasks. Preliminary results from the evaluation of our core pipeline, tested on a dataset from the Norwegian Eliteserien league, indicate that PlayerTV can accurately and efficiently identify teams and players, and our interactive Graphical User Interface (GUI) serves as a user-friendly application wrapping this functionality for streamlined use.

Comparative Analysis of Audio Feature Extraction for Real-Time Talking Portrait Synthesis

This paper examines the integration of real-time talking-head generation for interviewer training, focusing on overcoming challenges in Audio Feature Extraction (AFE), which often introduces latency and limits responsiveness in real-time applications. To address these issues, we propose and implement a fully integrated system that replaces conventional AFE models with Open AI's Whisper, leveraging its encoder to optimize processing and improve overall system efficiency. Our evaluation of two open-source real-time models across three different datasets shows that Whisper not only accelerates processing but also improves specific aspects of rendering quality, resulting in more realistic and responsive talking-head interactions. These advancements make the system a more effective tool for immersive, interactive training applications, expanding the potential of AI-driven avatars in interviewer training.

QUALINET White Paper on Definitions of Immersive Media Experience (IMEx)

With the coming of age of virtual/augmented reality and interactive media, numerous definitions, frameworks, and models of immersion have emerged across different fields ranging from computer graphics to literary works. Immersion is oftentimes used interchangeably with presence as both concepts are closely related. However, there are noticeable interdisciplinary differences regarding definitions, scope, and constituents that are required to be addressed so that a coherent understanding of the concepts can be achieved. Such consensus is vital for paving the directionality of the future of immersive media experiences (IMEx) and all related matters. The aim of this white paper is to provide a survey of definitions of immersion and presence which leads to a definition of immersive media experience (IMEx). The Quality of Experience (QoE) for immersive media is described by establishing a relationship between the concepts of QoE and IMEx followed by application areas of immersive media experience. Influencing factors on immersive media experience are elaborated as well as the assessment of immersive media experience. Finally, standardization activities related to IMEx are highlighted and the white paper is concluded with an outlook related to future developments.
