Grounding DINO: Marrying DINO with Grounded Pre-Training for Open-Set Object DetectionShilong Liu, Zhaoyang Zeng, Tianhe Ren et al. · tsinghua
In this paper, we present an open-set object detector, called Grounding DINO, by marrying Transformer-based detector DINO with grounded pre-training, which can detect arbitrary objects with human inputs such as category names or referring expressions. The key solution of open-set object detection is introducing language to a closed-set detector for open-set concept generalization. To effectively fuse language and vision modalities, we conceptually divide a closed-set detector into three phases and propose a tight fusion solution, which includes a feature enhancer, a language-guided query selection, and a cross-modality decoder for cross-modality fusion. While previous works mainly evaluate open-set object detection on novel categories, we propose to also perform evaluations on referring expression comprehension for objects specified with attributes. Grounding DINO performs remarkably well on all three settings, including benchmarks on COCO, LVIS, ODinW, and RefCOCO/+/g. Grounding DINO achieves a $52.5$ AP on the COCO detection zero-shot transfer benchmark, i.e., without any training data from COCO. IFRNet: Intermediate Feature Refine Network for Efficient Frame InterpolationLingtong Kong, Boyuan Jiang, Donghao Luo et al. · tencent-ai
Prevailing video frame interpolation algorithms, that generate the intermediate frames from consecutive inputs, typically rely on complex model architectures with heavy parameters or large delay, hindering them from diverse real-time applications. In this work, we devise an efficient encoder-decoder based network, termed IFRNet, for fast intermediate frame synthesizing. It first extracts pyramid features from given inputs, and then refines the bilateral intermediate flow fields together with a powerful intermediate feature until generating the desired output. The gradually refined intermediate feature can not only facilitate intermediate flow estimation, but also compensate for contextual details, making IFRNet do not need additional synthesis or refinement module. To fully release its potential, we further propose a novel task-oriented optical flow distillation loss to focus on learning the useful teacher knowledge towards frame synthesizing. Meanwhile, a new geometry consistency regularization term is imposed on the gradually refined intermediate features to keep better structure layout. GaMi: Geometry-Agnostic Material Identification via Cross-Modal Subtractive DisentanglementZhiwei Chen, Yijie Li, Yimo Zhang et al.
Non-contact material identification enables adaptive interaction for embodied intelligence yet faces challenges from geometry-induced variations (e.g., orientation, shape, distance) and single-modality ambiguities. In this paper, we present GaMi, a multimodal material identification system integrating mmWave and acoustic sensing to robustly operate under unconstrained geometric conditions. By leveraging the insight of shared geometric consistency between co-located bimodal sensors, GaMi employs an intra-sample cross-modal subtractive disentanglement framework. By semantically aligning modalities and subtracting the shared geometric context, it isolates intrinsic material features. Furthermore, GaMi incorporates inter-sample contrastive learning to correct the residual interference caused by cross-modal misalignment. Additionally, a pairing-based adaptation strategy between two modalities enables few-shot generalization across devices. Extensive evaluations on 20 materials show that GaMi achieves 95.2% accuracy, outperforming single-modality baselines across unseen geometric conditions.

MGTAB: A Multi-Relational Graph-Based Twitter Account Detection BenchmarkShuhao Shi, Kai Qiao, Jian Chen et al.
The development of social media user stance detection and bot detection methods rely heavily on large-scale and high-quality benchmarks. However, in addition to low annotation quality, existing benchmarks generally have incomplete user relationships, suppressing graph-based account detection research. To address these issues, we propose a Multi-Relational Graph-Based Twitter Account Detection Benchmark (MGTAB), the first standardized graph-based benchmark for account detection. To our knowledge, MGTAB was built based on the largest original data in the field, with over 1.55 million users and 130 million tweets. MGTAB contains 10,199 expert-annotated users and 7 types of relationships, ensuring high-quality annotation and diversified relations. In MGTAB, we extracted the 20 user property features with the greatest information gain and user tweet features as the user features. In addition, we performed a thorough evaluation of MGTAB and other public datasets. Our experiments found that graph-based approaches are generally more effective than feature-based approaches and perform better when introducing multiple relations. By analyzing experiment results, we identify effective approaches for account detection and provide potential future research directions in this field. PTab: Using the Pre-trained Language Model for Modeling Tabular DataGuang Liu, Jie Yang, Ledell Wu · meta-ai
Tabular data is the foundation of the information age and has been extensively studied. Recent studies show that neural-based models are effective in learning contextual representation for tabular data. The learning of an effective contextual representation requires meaningful features and a large amount of data. However, current methods often fail to properly learn a contextual representation from the features without semantic information. In addition, it's intractable to enlarge the training set through mixed tabular datasets due to the difference between datasets. To address these problems, we propose a novel framework PTab, using the Pre-trained language model to model Tabular data. PTab learns a contextual representation of tabular data through a three-stage processing: Modality Transformation(MT), Masked-Language Fine-tuning(MF), and Classification Fine-tuning(CF). We initialize our model with a pre-trained Model (PTM) which contains semantic information learned from the large-scale language data. Consequently, contextual representation can be learned effectively during the fine-tuning stages. In addition, we can naturally mix the textualized tabular data to enlarge the training set to further improve representation learning. We evaluate PTab on eight popular tabular classification datasets. Experimental results show that our method has achieved a better average AUC score in supervised settings compared to the state-of-the-art baselines(e.g. XGBoost), and outperforms counterpart methods under semi-supervised settings. We present visualization results that show PTab has well instance-based interpretability.

CROON: Automatic Multi-LiDAR Calibration and Refinement Method in Road ScenePengjin Wei, Guohang Yan, Yikang Li et al.
Sensor-based environmental perception is a crucial part of the autonomous driving system. In order to get an excellent perception of the surrounding environment, an intelligent system would configure multiple LiDARs (3D Light Detection and Ranging) to cover the distant and near space of the car. The precision of perception relies on the quality of sensor calibration. This research aims at developing an accurate, automatic, and robust calibration strategy for multiple LiDAR systems in the general road scene. We thus propose CROON (automatiC multi-LiDAR CalibratiOn and Refinement method in rOad sceNe), a two-stage method including rough and refinement calibration. The first stage can calibrate the sensor from an arbitrary initial pose, and the second stage is able to precisely calibrate the sensor iteratively. Specifically, CROON utilize the nature characteristics of road scene so that it is independent and easy to apply in large-scale conditions. Experimental results on real-world and simulated data sets demonstrate the reliability and accuracy of our method. METS-CoV: A Dataset of Medical Entity and Targeted Sentiment on COVID-19 Related TweetsPeilin Zhou, Zeqiang Wang, Dading Chong et al. · bytedance, harvard
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to bring up various topics discussed or debated on social media. In order to explore the impact of pandemics on people's lives, it is crucial to understand the public's concerns and attitudes towards pandemic-related entities (e.g., drugs, vaccines) on social media. However, models trained on existing named entity recognition (NER) or targeted sentiment analysis (TSA) datasets have limited ability to understand COVID-19-related social media texts because these datasets are not designed or annotated from a medical perspective. This paper releases METS-CoV, a dataset containing medical entities and targeted sentiments from COVID-19-related tweets. METS-CoV contains 10,000 tweets with 7 types of entities, including 4 medical entity types (Disease, Drug, Symptom, and Vaccine) and 3 general entity types (Person, Location, and Organization). To further investigate tweet users' attitudes toward specific entities, 4 types of entities (Person, Organization, Drug, and Vaccine) are selected and annotated with user sentiments, resulting in a targeted sentiment dataset with 9,101 entities (in 5,278 tweets). To the best of our knowledge, METS-CoV is the first dataset to collect medical entities and corresponding sentiments of COVID-19-related tweets. We benchmark the performance of classical machine learning models and state-of-the-art deep learning models on NER and TSA tasks with extensive experiments. Results show that the dataset has vast room for improvement for both NER and TSA tasks. METS-CoV is an important resource for developing better medical social media tools and facilitating computational social science research, especially in epidemiology. Our data, annotation guidelines, benchmark models, and source code are publicly available (https://github.com/YLab-Open/METS-CoV) to ensure reproducibility.

Towards Better Data Exploitation in Self-Supervised Monocular Depth EstimationJinfeng Liu, Lingtong Kong, Jie Yang et al.
Depth estimation plays an important role in the robotic perception system. Self-supervised monocular paradigm has gained significant attention since it can free training from the reliance on depth annotations. Despite recent advancements, existing self-supervised methods still underutilize the available training data, limiting their generalization ability. In this paper, we take two data augmentation techniques, namely Resizing-Cropping and Splitting-Permuting, to fully exploit the potential of training datasets. Specifically, the original image and the generated two augmented images are fed into the training pipeline simultaneously and we leverage them to conduct self-distillation. Additionally, we introduce the detail-enhanced DepthNet with an extra full-scale branch in the encoder and a grid decoder to enhance the restoration of fine details in depth maps. Experimental results demonstrate our method can achieve state-of-the-art performance on the KITTI benchmark, with both raw ground truth and improved ground truth. detrex: Benchmarking Detection TransformersTianhe Ren, Shilong Liu, Feng Li et al.
The DEtection TRansformer (DETR) algorithm has received considerable attention in the research community and is gradually emerging as a mainstream approach for object detection and other perception tasks. However, the current field lacks a unified and comprehensive benchmark specifically tailored for DETR-based models. To address this issue, we develop a unified, highly modular, and lightweight codebase called detrex, which supports a majority of the mainstream DETR-based instance recognition algorithms, covering various fundamental tasks, including object detection, segmentation, and pose estimation. We conduct extensive experiments under detrex and perform a comprehensive benchmark for DETR-based models. Moreover, we enhance the performance of detection transformers through the refinement of training hyper-parameters, providing strong baselines for supported algorithms.We hope that detrex could offer research communities a standardized and unified platform to evaluate and compare different DETR-based models while fostering a deeper understanding and driving advancements in DETR-based instance recognition. Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown promise in clinical applications through prompt engineering, allowing flexible clinical predictions. However, they struggle to produce reliable prediction probabilities, which are crucial for transparency and decision-making. While explicit prompts can lead LLMs to generate probability estimates, their numerical reasoning limitations raise concerns about reliability. We compared explicit probabilities from text generation to implicit probabilities derived from the likelihood of predicting the correct label token. Across six advanced open-source LLMs and five medical datasets, explicit probabilities consistently underperformed implicit probabilities in discrimination, precision, and recall. This discrepancy is more pronounced with smaller LLMs and imbalanced datasets, highlighting the need for cautious interpretation, improved probability estimation methods, and further research for clinical use of LLMs.

GreenPLM: Cross-Lingual Transfer of Monolingual Pre-Trained Language Models at Almost No CostQingcheng Zeng, Lucas Garay, Peilin Zhou et al. · cambridge, harvard
Large pre-trained models have revolutionized natural language processing (NLP) research and applications, but high training costs and limited data resources have prevented their benefits from being shared equally amongst speakers of all the world's languages. To address issues of cross-linguistic access to such models and reduce energy consumption for sustainability during large-scale model training, this study proposes an effective and energy-efficient framework called GreenPLM that uses bilingual lexicons to directly "translate" pre-trained language models of one language into another at almost no additional cost. We validate this approach in 18 languages' BERT models and show that this framework is comparable to, if not better than, other heuristics with high training costs. In addition, given lightweight continued pre-training on limited data where available, this framework outperforms the original monolingual language models in six out of seven tested languages with up to 200x less pre-training efforts. Aiming at the Leave No One Behind Principle (LNOB), our approach manages to reduce inequalities between languages and energy consumption greatly. Modeling Image Composition for Complex Scene GenerationZuopeng Yang, Daqing Liu, Chaoyue Wang et al.
We present a method that achieves state-of-the-art results on challenging (few-shot) layout-to-image generation tasks by accurately modeling textures, structures and relationships contained in a complex scene. After compressing RGB images into patch tokens, we propose the Transformer with Focal Attention (TwFA) for exploring dependencies of object-to-object, object-to-patch and patch-to-patch. Compared to existing CNN-based and Transformer-based generation models that entangled modeling on pixel-level&patch-level and object-level&patch-level respectively, the proposed focal attention predicts the current patch token by only focusing on its highly-related tokens that specified by the spatial layout, thereby achieving disambiguation during training. Furthermore, the proposed TwFA largely increases the data efficiency during training, therefore we propose the first few-shot complex scene generation strategy based on the well-trained TwFA. Comprehensive experiments show the superiority of our method, which significantly increases both quantitative metrics and qualitative visual realism with respect to state-of-the-art CNN-based and transformer-based methods. Dynamic Frame Interpolation in Wavelet DomainLingtong Kong, Boyuan Jiang, Donghao Luo et al. · tencent-ai
Video frame interpolation is an important low-level vision task, which can increase frame rate for more fluent visual experience. Existing methods have achieved great success by employing advanced motion models and synthesis networks. However, the spatial redundancy when synthesizing the target frame has not been fully explored, that can result in lots of inefficient computation. On the other hand, the computation compression degree in frame interpolation is highly dependent on both texture distribution and scene motion, which demands to understand the spatial-temporal information of each input frame pair for a better compression degree selection. In this work, we propose a novel two-stage frame interpolation framework termed WaveletVFI to address above problems. It first estimates intermediate optical flow with a lightweight motion perception network, and then a wavelet synthesis network uses flow aligned context features to predict multi-scale wavelet coefficients with sparse convolution for efficient target frame reconstruction, where the sparse valid masks that control computation in each scale are determined by a crucial threshold ratio. Instead of setting a fixed value like previous methods, we find that embedding a classifier in the motion perception network to learn a dynamic threshold for each sample can achieve more computation reduction with almost no loss of accuracy. On the common high resolution and animation frame interpolation benchmarks, proposed WaveletVFI can reduce computation up to 40% while maintaining similar accuracy, making it perform more efficiently against other state-of-the-arts. Inherent Consistent Learning for Accurate Semi-supervised Medical Image SegmentationYe Zhu, Jie Yang, Si-Qi Liu et al.
Semi-supervised medical image segmentation has attracted much attention in recent years because of the high cost of medical image annotations. In this paper, we propose a novel Inherent Consistent Learning (ICL) method, aims to learn robust semantic category representations through the semantic consistency guidance of labeled and unlabeled data to help segmentation. In practice, we introduce two external modules, namely Supervised Semantic Proxy Adaptor (SSPA) and Unsupervised Semantic Consistent Learner (USCL) that is based on the attention mechanism to align the semantic category representations of labeled and unlabeled data, as well as update the global semantic representations over the entire training set. The proposed ICL is a plug-and-play scheme for various network architectures, and the two modules are not involved in the testing stage. Experimental results on three public benchmarks show that the proposed method can outperform the state-of-the-art, especially when the number of annotated data is extremely limited. Eliminating Contextual Prior Bias for Semantic Image Editing via Dual-Cycle DiffusionZuopeng Yang, Tianshu Chu, Xin Lin et al.
The recent success of text-to-image generation diffusion models has also revolutionized semantic image editing, enabling the manipulation of images based on query/target texts. Despite these advancements, a significant challenge lies in the potential introduction of contextual prior bias in pre-trained models during image editing, e.g., making unexpected modifications to inappropriate regions. To address this issue, we present a novel approach called Dual-Cycle Diffusion, which generates an unbiased mask to guide image editing. The proposed model incorporates a Bias Elimination Cycle that consists of both a forward path and an inverted path, each featuring a Structural Consistency Cycle to ensure the preservation of image content during the editing process. The forward path utilizes the pre-trained model to produce the edited image, while the inverted path converts the result back to the source image. The unbiased mask is generated by comparing differences between the processed source image and the edited image to ensure that both conform to the same distribution. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, as it significantly improves the D-CLIP score from 0.272 to 0.283. MDFlow: Unsupervised Optical Flow Learning by Reliable Mutual Knowledge DistillationLingtong Kong, Jie Yang
Recent works have shown that optical flow can be learned by deep networks from unlabelled image pairs based on brightness constancy assumption and smoothness prior. Current approaches additionally impose an augmentation regularization term for continual self-supervision, which has been proved to be effective on difficult matching regions. However, this method also amplify the inevitable mismatch in unsupervised setting, blocking the learning process towards optimal solution. To break the dilemma, we propose a novel mutual distillation framework to transfer reliable knowledge back and forth between the teacher and student networks for alternate improvement. Concretely, taking estimation of off-the-shelf unsupervised approach as pseudo labels, our insight locates at defining a confidence selection mechanism to extract relative good matches, and then add diverse data augmentation for distilling adequate and reliable knowledge from teacher to student. Thanks to the decouple nature of our method, we can choose a stronger student architecture for sufficient learning. Finally, better student prediction is adopted to transfer knowledge back to the efficient teacher without additional costs in real deployment. Rather than formulating it as a supervised task, we find that introducing an extra unsupervised term for multi-target learning achieves best final results. Extensive experiments show that our approach, termed MDFlow, achieves state-of-the-art real-time accuracy and generalization ability on challenging benchmarks. Using Twitter Data to Understand Public Perceptions of Approved versus Off-label Use for COVID-19-related MedicationsYining Hua, Hang Jiang, Shixu Lin et al. · amazon-science, harvard
Understanding public discourse on emergency use of unproven therapeutics is crucial for monitoring safe use and combating misinformation. We developed a natural language processing-based pipeline to comprehend public perceptions of and stances on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related drugs on Twitter over time. This retrospective study included 609,189 US-based tweets from January 29, 2020, to November 30, 2021, about four drugs that garnered significant public attention during the COVID-19 pandemic: (1) Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, therapies with anecdotal evidence; and (2) Molnupiravir and Remdesivir, FDA-approved treatments for eligible patients. Time-trend analysis was employed to understand popularity trends and related events. Content and demographic analyses were conducted to explore potential rationales behind people's stances on each drug. Time-trend analysis indicated that Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin were discussed more than Molnupiravir and Remdesivir, particularly during COVID-19 surges. Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin discussions were highly politicized, related to conspiracy theories, hearsay, and celebrity influences. The distribution of stances between the two major US political parties was significantly different (P < .001); Republicans were more likely to support Hydroxychloroquine (55%) and Ivermectin (30%) than Democrats. People with healthcare backgrounds tended to oppose Hydroxychloroquine (7%) more than the general population, while the general population was more likely to support Ivermectin (14%). Our study found that social media users have varying perceptions and stances on off-label versus FDA-authorized drug use at different stages of COVID-19. This indicates that health systems, regulatory agencies, and policymakers should design tailored strategies to monitor and reduce misinformation to promote safe drug use.

FoPro: Few-Shot Guided Robust Webly-Supervised Prototypical LearningYulei Qin, Xingyu Chen, Chao Chen et al.
Recently, webly supervised learning (WSL) has been studied to leverage numerous and accessible data from the Internet. Most existing methods focus on learning noise-robust models from web images while neglecting the performance drop caused by the differences between web domain and real-world domain. However, only by tackling the performance gap above can we fully exploit the practical value of web datasets. To this end, we propose a Few-shot guided Prototypical (FoPro) representation learning method, which only needs a few labeled examples from reality and can significantly improve the performance in the real-world domain. Specifically, we initialize each class center with few-shot real-world data as the ``realistic" prototype. Then, the intra-class distance between web instances and ``realistic" prototypes is narrowed by contrastive learning. Finally, we measure image-prototype distance with a learnable metric. Prototypes are polished by adjacent high-quality web images and involved in removing distant out-of-distribution samples. In experiments, FoPro is trained on web datasets with a few real-world examples guided and evaluated on real-world datasets. Our method achieves the state-of-the-art performance on three fine-grained datasets and two large-scale datasets. Explicit Box Detection Unifies End-to-End Multi-Person Pose EstimationJie Yang, Ailing Zeng, Shilong Liu et al.
This paper presents a novel end-to-end framework with Explicit box Detection for multi-person Pose estimation, called ED-Pose, where it unifies the contextual learning between human-level (global) and keypoint-level (local) information. Different from previous one-stage methods, ED-Pose re-considers this task as two explicit box detection processes with a unified representation and regression supervision. First, we introduce a human detection decoder from encoded tokens to extract global features. It can provide a good initialization for the latter keypoint detection, making the training process converge fast. Second, to bring in contextual information near keypoints, we regard pose estimation as a keypoint box detection problem to learn both box positions and contents for each keypoint. A human-to-keypoint detection decoder adopts an interactive learning strategy between human and keypoint features to further enhance global and local feature aggregation. In general, ED-Pose is conceptually simple without post-processing and dense heatmap supervision. It demonstrates its effectiveness and efficiency compared with both two-stage and one-stage methods. Notably, explicit box detection boosts the pose estimation performance by 4.5 AP on COCO and 9.9 AP on CrowdPose. For the first time, as a fully end-to-end framework with a L1 regression loss, ED-Pose surpasses heatmap-based Top-down methods under the same backbone by 1.2 AP on COCO and achieves the state-of-the-art with 76.6 AP on CrowdPose without bells and whistles. PAI-Studio: Cinematic Video Background Replacement with Camera-Aware MotionHeyuan Gao, Bangxun Tang, Yiren Song et al.
We present PAI-Studio, a new reference-conditioned video synthesis task that addresses a long-standing challenge in cinematic background replacement: generating dynamic backgrounds aligned with foreground motion while preserving foreground identity, matching reference scene appearance, and achieving globally consistent illumination with realistic foreground relighting. Existing open-source systems and commercial APIs cannot simultaneously ensure motion-consistent background generation, high-fidelity foreground relighting and foreground identity preservation, often resulting in static backgrounds, inconsistent boundaries, and noticeable compositing artifacts. To bridge this gap, we build upon a Diffusion Transformer video backbone and reformulate the problem as an in-context conditional generation task. Through bidirectional attention, our model jointly captures foreground dynamics and background reference information within a unified architecture. We further construct a 30K-scale dataset sourced from high-quality films and online videos to support this task. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms existing open-source and commercial API solutions.

Semantic Human Parsing via Scalable Semantic Transfer over Multiple Label DomainsJie Yang, Chaoqun Wang, Zhen Li et al.
This paper presents Scalable Semantic Transfer (SST), a novel training paradigm, to explore how to leverage the mutual benefits of the data from different label domains (i.e. various levels of label granularity) to train a powerful human parsing network. In practice, two common application scenarios are addressed, termed universal parsing and dedicated parsing, where the former aims to learn homogeneous human representations from multiple label domains and switch predictions by only using different segmentation heads, and the latter aims to learn a specific domain prediction while distilling the semantic knowledge from other domains. The proposed SST has the following appealing benefits: (1) it can capably serve as an effective training scheme to embed semantic associations of human body parts from multiple label domains into the human representation learning process; (2) it is an extensible semantic transfer framework without predetermining the overall relations of multiple label domains, which allows continuously adding human parsing datasets to promote the training. (3) the relevant modules are only used for auxiliary training and can be removed during inference, eliminating the extra reasoning cost. Experimental results demonstrate SST can effectively achieve promising universal human parsing performance as well as impressive improvements compared to its counterparts on three human parsing benchmarks (i.e., PASCAL-Person-Part, ATR, and CIHP). The COVID-19 pandemic has caused substantial damage to global health. Even though three years have passed, the world continues to struggle with the virus. Concerns are growing about the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of infected individuals, who are more likely to experience depression, which can have long-lasting consequences for both the affected individuals and the world. Detection and intervention at an early stage can reduce the risk of depression in COVID-19 patients. In this paper, we investigated the relationship between COVID-19 infection and depression through social media analysis. Firstly, we managed a dataset of COVID-19 patients that contains information about their social media activity both before and after infection. Secondly,We conducted an extensive analysis of this dataset to investigate the characteristic of COVID-19 patients with a higher risk of depression. Thirdly, we proposed a deep neural network for early prediction of depression risk. This model considers daily mood swings as a psychiatric signal and incorporates textual and emotional characteristics via knowledge distillation. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed framework outperforms baselines in detecting depression risk, with an AUROC of 0.9317 and an AUPRC of 0.8116. Our model has the potential to enable public health organizations to initiate prompt intervention with high-risk patients

Pick the Best Pre-trained Model: Towards Transferability Estimation for Medical Image SegmentationYuncheng Yang, Meng Wei, Junjun He et al.
Transfer learning is a critical technique in training deep neural networks for the challenging medical image segmentation task that requires enormous resources. With the abundance of medical image data, many research institutions release models trained on various datasets that can form a huge pool of candidate source models to choose from. Hence, it's vital to estimate the source models' transferability (i.e., the ability to generalize across different downstream tasks) for proper and efficient model reuse. To make up for its deficiency when applying transfer learning to medical image segmentation, in this paper, we therefore propose a new Transferability Estimation (TE) method. We first analyze the drawbacks of using the existing TE algorithms for medical image segmentation and then design a source-free TE framework that considers both class consistency and feature variety for better estimation. Extensive experiments show that our method surpasses all current algorithms for transferability estimation in medical image segmentation. AMOS: A Large-Scale Abdominal Multi-Organ Benchmark for Versatile Medical Image SegmentationYuanfeng Ji, Haotian Bai, Jie Yang et al.
Despite the considerable progress in automatic abdominal multi-organ segmentation from CT/MRI scans in recent years, a comprehensive evaluation of the models' capabilities is hampered by the lack of a large-scale benchmark from diverse clinical scenarios. Constraint by the high cost of collecting and labeling 3D medical data, most of the deep learning models to date are driven by datasets with a limited number of organs of interest or samples, which still limits the power of modern deep models and makes it difficult to provide a fully comprehensive and fair estimate of various methods. To mitigate the limitations, we present AMOS, a large-scale, diverse, clinical dataset for abdominal organ segmentation. AMOS provides 500 CT and 100 MRI scans collected from multi-center, multi-vendor, multi-modality, multi-phase, multi-disease patients, each with voxel-level annotations of 15 abdominal organs, providing challenging examples and test-bed for studying robust segmentation algorithms under diverse targets and scenarios. We further benchmark several state-of-the-art medical segmentation models to evaluate the status of the existing methods on this new challenging dataset. We introduce YATO, an open-source, easy-to-use toolkit for text analysis with deep learning. Different from existing heavily engineered toolkits and platforms, YATO is lightweight and user-friendly for researchers from cross-disciplinary areas. Designed in a hierarchical structure, YATO supports free combinations of three types of widely used features including 1) traditional neural networks (CNN, RNN, etc.); 2) pre-trained language models (BERT, RoBERTa, ELECTRA, etc.); and 3) user-customized neural features via a simple configurable file. Benefiting from the advantages of flexibility and ease of use, YATO can facilitate fast reproduction and refinement of state-of-the-art NLP models, and promote the cross-disciplinary applications of NLP techniques. Learning with Explicit Shape Priors for Medical Image SegmentationXin You, Junjun He, Jie Yang et al.
Medical image segmentation is a fundamental task for medical image analysis and surgical planning. In recent years, UNet-based networks have prevailed in the field of medical image segmentation. However, convolution-neural networks (CNNs) suffer from limited receptive fields, which fail to model the long-range dependency of organs or tumors. Besides, these models are heavily dependent on the training of the final segmentation head. And existing methods can not well address these two limitations at the same time. Hence, in our work, we proposed a novel shape prior module (SPM), which can explicitly introduce shape priors to promote the segmentation performance of UNet-based models. The explicit shape priors consist of global and local shape priors. The former with coarse shape representations provides networks with capabilities to model global contexts. The latter with finer shape information serves as additional guidance to boost the segmentation performance, which relieves the heavy dependence on the learnable prototype in the segmentation head. To evaluate the effectiveness of SPM, we conduct experiments on three challenging public datasets. And our proposed model achieves state-of-the-art performance. Furthermore, SPM shows an outstanding generalization ability on classic CNNs and recent Transformer-based backbones, which can serve as a plug-and-play structure for the segmentation task of different datasets. Online LiDAR-Camera Extrinsic Parameters Self-checkingPengjin Wei, Guohang Yan, Yikang Li et al.
With the development of neural networks and the increasing popularity of automatic driving, the calibration of the LiDAR and the camera has attracted more and more attention. This calibration task is multi-modal, where the rich color and texture information captured by the camera and the accurate three-dimensional spatial information from the LiDAR is incredibly significant for downstream tasks. Current research interests mainly focus on obtaining accurate calibration results through information fusion. However, they seldom analyze whether the calibrated results are correct or not, which could be of significant importance in real-world applications. For example, in large-scale production, the LiDARs and the cameras of each smart car have to get well-calibrated as the car leaves the production line, while in the rest of the car life period, the poses of the LiDARs and cameras should also get continually supervised to ensure the security. To this end, this paper proposes a self-checking algorithm to judge whether the extrinsic parameters are well-calibrated by introducing a binary classification network based on the fused information from the camera and the LiDAR. Moreover, since there is no such dataset for the task in this work, we further generate a new dataset branch from the KITTI dataset tailored for the task. Our experiments on the proposed dataset branch demonstrate the performance of our method. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to address the significance of continually checking the calibrated extrinsic parameters for autonomous driving. Neural Interactive Keypoint DetectionJie Yang, Ailing Zeng, Feng Li et al.
This work proposes an end-to-end neural interactive keypoint detection framework named Click-Pose, which can significantly reduce more than 10 times labeling costs of 2D keypoint annotation compared with manual-only annotation. Click-Pose explores how user feedback can cooperate with a neural keypoint detector to correct the predicted keypoints in an interactive way for a faster and more effective annotation process. Specifically, we design the pose error modeling strategy that inputs the ground truth pose combined with four typical pose errors into the decoder and trains the model to reconstruct the correct poses, which enhances the self-correction ability of the model. Then, we attach an interactive human-feedback loop that allows receiving users' clicks to correct one or several predicted keypoints and iteratively utilizes the decoder to update all other keypoints with a minimum number of clicks (NoC) for efficient annotation. We validate Click-Pose in in-domain, out-of-domain scenes, and a new task of keypoint adaptation. For annotation, Click-Pose only needs 1.97 and 6.45 NoC@95 (at precision 95%) on COCO and Human-Art, reducing 31.4% and 36.3% efforts than the SOTA model (ViTPose) with manual correction, respectively. Besides, without user clicks, Click-Pose surpasses the previous end-to-end model by 1.4 AP on COCO and 3.0 AP on Human-Art. The code is available at https://github.com/IDEA-Research/Click-Pose.

Survey of Deep Learning for Autonomous Surface Vehicles in the Marine EnvironmentYuanyuan Qiao, Jiaxin Yin, Wei Wang et al.
Within the next several years, there will be a high level of autonomous technology that will be available for widespread use, which will reduce labor costs, increase safety, save energy, enable difficult unmanned tasks in harsh environments, and eliminate human error. Compared to software development for other autonomous vehicles, maritime software development, especially on aging but still functional fleets, is described as being in a very early and emerging phase. This introduces very large challenges and opportunities for researchers and engineers to develop maritime autonomous systems. Recent progress in sensor and communication technology has introduced the use of autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) in applications such as coastline surveillance, oceanographic observation, multi-vehicle cooperation, and search and rescue missions. Advanced artificial intelligence technology, especially deep learning (DL) methods that conduct nonlinear mapping with self-learning representations, has brought the concept of full autonomy one step closer to reality. This paper surveys the existing work regarding the implementation of DL methods in ASV-related fields. First, the scope of this work is described after reviewing surveys on ASV developments and technologies, which draws attention to the research gap between DL and maritime operations. Then, DL-based navigation, guidance, control (NGC) systems and cooperative operations, are presented. Finally, this survey is completed by highlighting the current challenges and future research directions.

SoftCLIP: Softer Cross-modal Alignment Makes CLIP StrongerYuting Gao, Jinfeng Liu, Zihan Xu et al.
During the preceding biennium, vision-language pre-training has achieved noteworthy success on several downstream tasks. Nevertheless, acquiring high-quality image-text pairs, where the pairs are entirely exclusive of each other, remains a challenging task, and noise exists in the commonly used datasets. To address this issue, we propose SoftCLIP, a novel approach that relaxes the strict one-to-one constraint and achieves a soft cross-modal alignment by introducing a softened target, which is generated from the fine-grained intra-modal self-similarity. The intra-modal guidance is indicative to enable two pairs have some local similarities and model many-to-many relationships between the two modalities. Besides, since the positive still dominates in the softened target distribution, we disentangle the negatives in the distribution to further boost the relation alignment with the negatives in the cross-modal learning. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of SoftCLIP. In particular, on ImageNet zero-shot classification task, using CC3M/CC12M as pre-training dataset, SoftCLIP brings a top-1 accuracy improvement of 6.8%/7.2% over the CLIP baseline.

The First Challenge on Mobile Real-World Image Super-Resolution at NTIRE 2026: Benchmark Results and Method OverviewJiatong Li, Zheng Chen, Kai Liu et al.
This paper provides a review of the NTIRE 2026 challenge on mobile real-world image super-resolution, highlighting the proposed solutions and the resulting outcomes. The challenge aims to recover high-resolution (HR) images from low-resolution (LR) counterparts generated through unknown degradations with a x4 scaling factor while ensuring the models remain executable on mobile devices. The objective is to develop effective and efficient network designs or solutions that achieve state-of-the-art real-world image super-resolution performance. The track of the challenge evaluates performance using a weighted combination of image quality assessment (IQA) score and speedup ratios. The competition attracted 108 registrants, with 16 teams achieving a valid score in the final ranking. This collaborative effort advances the performance of mobile real-world image super-resolution while offering an in-depth overview of the latest trends in the field.

SceneHGN: Hierarchical Graph Networks for 3D Indoor Scene Generation with Fine-Grained GeometryLin Gao, Jia-Mu Sun, Kaichun Mo et al.
3D indoor scenes are widely used in computer graphics, with applications ranging from interior design to gaming to virtual and augmented reality. They also contain rich information, including room layout, as well as furniture type, geometry, and placement. High-quality 3D indoor scenes are highly demanded while it requires expertise and is time-consuming to design high-quality 3D indoor scenes manually. Existing research only addresses partial problems: some works learn to generate room layout, and other works focus on generating detailed structure and geometry of individual furniture objects. However, these partial steps are related and should be addressed together for optimal synthesis. We propose SCENEHGN, a hierarchical graph network for 3D indoor scenes that takes into account the full hierarchy from the room level to the object level, then finally to the object part level. Therefore for the first time, our method is able to directly generate plausible 3D room content, including furniture objects with fine-grained geometry, and their layout. To address the challenge, we introduce functional regions as intermediate proxies between the room and object levels to make learning more manageable. To ensure plausibility, our graph-based representation incorporates both vertical edges connecting child nodes with parent nodes from different levels, and horizontal edges encoding relationships between nodes at the same level. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method produces superior generation results, even when comparing results of partial steps with alternative methods that can only achieve these. We also demonstrate that our method is effective for various applications such as part-level room editing, room interpolation, and room generation by arbitrary room boundaries.

DaisyRec 2.0: Benchmarking Recommendation for Rigorous EvaluationZhu Sun, Hui Fang, Jie Yang et al.
Recently, one critical issue looms large in the field of recommender systems -- there are no effective benchmarks for rigorous evaluation -- which consequently leads to unreproducible evaluation and unfair comparison. We, therefore, conduct studies from the perspectives of practical theory and experiments, aiming at benchmarking recommendation for rigorous evaluation. Regarding the theoretical study, a series of hyper-factors affecting recommendation performance throughout the whole evaluation chain are systematically summarized and analyzed via an exhaustive review on 141 papers published at eight top-tier conferences within 2017-2020. We then classify them into model-independent and model-dependent hyper-factors, and different modes of rigorous evaluation are defined and discussed in-depth accordingly. For the experimental study, we release DaisyRec 2.0 library by integrating these hyper-factors to perform rigorous evaluation, whereby a holistic empirical study is conducted to unveil the impacts of different hyper-factors on recommendation performance. Supported by the theoretical and experimental studies, we finally create benchmarks for rigorous evaluation by proposing standardized procedures and providing performance of ten state-of-the-arts across six evaluation metrics on six datasets as a reference for later study. Overall, our work sheds light on the issues in recommendation evaluation, provides potential solutions for rigorous evaluation, and lays foundation for further investigation.

A.I. Robustness: a Human-Centered Perspective on Technological Challenges and OpportunitiesAndrea Tocchetti, Lorenzo Corti, Agathe Balayn et al.
Despite the impressive performance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, their robustness remains elusive and constitutes a key issue that impedes large-scale adoption. Robustness has been studied in many domains of AI, yet with different interpretations across domains and contexts. In this work, we systematically survey the recent progress to provide a reconciled terminology of concepts around AI robustness. We introduce three taxonomies to organize and describe the literature both from a fundamental and applied point of view: 1) robustness by methods and approaches in different phases of the machine learning pipeline; 2) robustness for specific model architectures, tasks, and systems; and in addition, 3) robustness assessment methodologies and insights, particularly the trade-offs with other trustworthiness properties. Finally, we identify and discuss research gaps and opportunities and give an outlook on the field. We highlight the central role of humans in evaluating and enhancing AI robustness, considering the necessary knowledge humans can provide, and discuss the need for better understanding practices and developing supportive tools in the future.

Over-Sampling Strategy in Feature Space for Graphs based Class-imbalanced Bot DetectionShuhao Shi, Kai Qiao, Jie Yang et al.
The presence of a large number of bots in Online Social Networks (OSN) leads to undesirable social effects. Graph neural networks (GNNs) are effective in detecting bots as they utilize user interactions. However, class-imbalanced issues can affect bot detection performance. To address this, we propose an over-sampling strategy for GNNs (OS-GNN) that generates samples for the minority class without edge synthesis. First, node features are mapped to a feature space through neighborhood aggregation. Then, we generate samples for the minority class in the feature space. Finally, the augmented features are used to train the classifiers. This framework is general and can be easily extended into different GNN architectures. The proposed framework is evaluated using three real-world bot detection benchmark datasets, and it consistently exhibits superiority over the baselines.

LongCat-Next: Lexicalizing Modalities as Discrete TokensMeituan LongCat Team, Bin Xiao, Chao Wang et al.
The prevailing Next-Token Prediction (NTP) paradigm has driven the success of large language models through discrete autoregressive modeling. However, contemporary multimodal systems remain language-centric, often treating non-linguistic modalities as external attachments, leading to fragmented architectures and suboptimal integration. To transcend this limitation, we introduce Discrete Native Autoregressive (DiNA), a unified framework that represents multimodal information within a shared discrete space, enabling a consistent and principled autoregressive modeling across modalities. A key innovation is the Discrete Native Any-resolution Visual Transformer (dNaViT), which performs tokenization and de-tokenization at arbitrary resolutions, transforming continuous visual signals into hierarchical discrete tokens. Building on this foundation, we develop LongCat-Next, a native multimodal model that processes text, vision, and audio under a single autoregressive objective with minimal modality-specific design. As an industrial-strength foundation model, it excels at seeing, painting, and talking within a single framework, achieving strong performance across a wide range of multimodal benchmarks. In particular, LongCat-Next addresses the long-standing performance ceiling of discrete vision modeling on understanding tasks and provides a unified approach to effectively reconcile the conflict between understanding and generation. As an attempt toward native multimodality, we open-source the LongCat-Next and its tokenizers, hoping to foster further research and development in the community. A quantum nonlinear solver based on the asymptotic numerical methodYongchun Xu, Zengtao Kuang, Qun Huang et al.
Quantum computing offers a promising avenue for advancing computational methods in science and engineering. In this work, we introduce the quantum asymptotic numerical method (qANM), a framework for solving nonlinear problems using quantum computing. Based on the principle of high-order perturbation techniques, the proposed method uses Taylor series expansions to transform complex nonlinear systems into sequences of linear equations. We integrate the method with the variational quantum linear solver and a quantum-enhanced Jacobi method. Numerical simulations on a quantum simulator validate the convergence of the method. In particular, the high-order ANM formulation demonstrates robustness in addressing nonlinear problems by effectively capturing the solution path through Taylor series expansions. Furthermore, a highlight of this work is a proof-of-principle experiment on a superconducting quantum processor. Despite the noise inherent in near-term quantum hardware, the experiment achieves 98% accuracy in tracking the nonlinear solution path. We believe this work provides a useful reference for applying quantum computing to nonlinear computational mechanics.

Small-object detection is a challenging problem. In the last few years, the convolution neural networks methods have been achieved considerable progress. However, the current detectors struggle with effective features extraction for small-scale objects. To address this challenge, we propose image pyramid single-shot detector (IPSSD). In IPSSD, single-shot detector is adopted combined with an image pyramid network to extract semantically strong features for generating candidate regions. The proposed network can enhance the small-scale features from a feature pyramid network. We evaluated the performance of the proposed model on two public datasets and the results show the superior performance of our model compared to the other state-of-the-art object detectors.

Nex-N1: Agentic Models Trained via a Unified Ecosystem for Large-Scale Environment ConstructionNex-AGI Team, Yuxuan Cai, Lu Chen et al.
The evolution of Large Language Models (LLMs) from passive responders to autonomous agents necessitates a fundamental shift in learning paradigms -- from static imitation to incentive-driven decision making. However, this transition is significantly impeded by the lack of scalable infrastructure capable of constructing high-quality interaction signals for effective policy learning. To address this, we introduce a comprehensive method designed to systematically scale the diversity and complexity of interactive environments. Our method realizes this scaling by addressing three orthogonal dimensions: (1) Complexity: NexAU, a flexible agent framework that supports building complex agent hierarchies via simple configurations; (2) Diversity: NexA4A automatically generates diverse agent hierarchies from natural language to cover infinite domains; and (3) Fidelity: NexGAP bridges the simulation-reality gap by integrating dynamic real-world environment for grounded trajectories synthesis. We train Nex-N1 upon the diverse and complex interactive environments established by our infrastructure. Empirical results on benchmarks such as SWE-bench and tau2 demonstrate that Nex-N1 consistently outperforms SOTA open-source models and achieves competitive performance against frontier proprietary models on complex agentic tasks. We open-source the Nex ecosystem and model weights to facilitate further research.

RF-GNN: Random Forest Boosted Graph Neural Network for Social Bot DetectionShuhao Shi, Kai Qiao, Jie Yang et al.
The presence of a large number of bots on social media leads to adverse effects. Although Random forest algorithm is widely used in bot detection and can significantly enhance the performance of weak classifiers, it cannot utilize the interaction between accounts. This paper proposes a Random Forest boosted Graph Neural Network for social bot detection, called RF-GNN, which employs graph neural networks (GNNs) as the base classifiers to construct a random forest, effectively combining the advantages of ensemble learning and GNNs to improve the accuracy and robustness of the model. Specifically, different subgraphs are constructed as different training sets through node sampling, feature selection, and edge dropout. Then, GNN base classifiers are trained using various subgraphs, and the remaining features are used for training Fully Connected Netural Network (FCN). The outputs of GNN and FCN are aligned in each branch. Finally, the outputs of all branches are aggregated to produce the final result. Moreover, RF-GNN is compatible with various widely-used GNNs for node classification. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method obtains better performance than other state-of-the-art methods.

Transfer Learning on Electromyography (EMG) Tasks: Approaches and BeyondDi Wu, Jie Yang, Mohamad Sawan
Machine learning on electromyography (EMG) has recently achieved remarkable success on a variety of tasks, while such success relies heavily on the assumption that the training and future data must be of the same data distribution. However, this assumption may not hold in many real-world applications. Model calibration is required via data re-collection and label annotation, which is generally very expensive and time-consuming. To address this problem, transfer learning (TL), which aims to improve target learners' performance by transferring the knowledge from related source domains, is emerging as a new paradigm to reduce the amount of calibration effort. In this survey, we assess the eligibility of more than fifty published peer-reviewed representative transfer learning approaches for EMG applications. Unlike previous surveys on purely transfer learning or EMG-based machine learning, this survey aims to provide an insight into the biological foundations of existing transfer learning methods on EMG-related analysis. In specific, we first introduce the physiological structure of the muscles and the EMG generating mechanism, and the recording of EMG to provide biological insights behind existing transfer learning approaches. Further, we categorize existing research endeavors into data based, model based, training scheme based, and adversarial based. This survey systematically summarizes and categorizes existing transfer learning approaches for EMG related machine learning applications. In addition, we discuss possible drawbacks of existing works and point out the future direction of better EMG transfer learning algorithms to enhance practicality for real-world applications.

X-Pose: Detecting Any KeypointsJie Yang, Ailing Zeng, Ruimao Zhang et al.
This work aims to address an advanced keypoint detection problem: how to accurately detect any keypoints in complex real-world scenarios, which involves massive, messy, and open-ended objects as well as their associated keypoints definitions. Current high-performance keypoint detectors often fail to tackle this problem due to their two-stage schemes, under-explored prompt designs, and limited training data. To bridge the gap, we propose X-Pose, a novel end-to-end framework with multi-modal (i.e., visual, textual, or their combinations) prompts to detect multi-object keypoints for any articulated (e.g., human and animal), rigid, and soft objects within a given image. Moreover, we introduce a large-scale dataset called UniKPT, which unifies 13 keypoint detection datasets with 338 keypoints across 1,237 categories over 400K instances. Training with UniKPT, X-Pose effectively aligns text-to-keypoint and image-to-keypoint due to the mutual enhancement of multi-modal prompts based on cross-modality contrastive learning. Our experimental results demonstrate that X-Pose achieves notable improvements of 27.7 AP, 6.44 PCK, and 7.0 AP compared to state-of-the-art non-promptable, visual prompt-based, and textual prompt-based methods in each respective fair setting. More importantly, the in-the-wild test demonstrates X-Pose's strong fine-grained keypoint localization and generalization abilities across image styles, object categories, and poses, paving a new path to multi-object keypoint detection in real applications. VSViG: Real-time Video-based Seizure Detection via Skeleton-based Spatiotemporal ViGYankun Xu, Junzhe Wang, Yun-Hsuan Chen et al.
An accurate and efficient epileptic seizure onset detection can significantly benefit patients. Traditional diagnostic methods, primarily relying on electroencephalograms (EEGs), often result in cumbersome and non-portable solutions, making continuous patient monitoring challenging. The video-based seizure detection system is expected to free patients from the constraints of scalp or implanted EEG devices and enable remote monitoring in residential settings. Previous video-based methods neither enable all-day monitoring nor provide short detection latency due to insufficient resources and ineffective patient action recognition techniques. Additionally, skeleton-based action recognition approaches remain limitations in identifying subtle seizure-related actions. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Video-based Seizure detection model via a skeleton-based spatiotemporal Vision Graph neural network (VSViG) for its efficient, accurate and timely purpose in real-time scenarios. Our experimental results indicate VSViG outperforms previous state-of-the-art action recognition models on our collected patients' video data with higher accuracy (5.9% error), lower FLOPs (0.4G), and smaller model size (1.4M). Furthermore, by integrating a decision-making rule that combines output probabilities and an accumulative function, we achieve a 5.1 s detection latency after EEG onset, a 13.1 s detection advance before clinical onset, and a zero false detection rate. 3D Human Pose Estimation for Free-from and Moving Activities Using WiFiYili Ren, Jie Yang
This paper presents GoPose, a 3D skeleton-based human pose estimation system that uses WiFi devices at home. Our system leverages the WiFi signals reflected off the human body for 3D pose estimation. In contrast to prior systems that need specialized hardware or dedicated sensors, our system does not require a user to wear or carry any sensors and can reuse the WiFi devices that already exist in a home environment for mass adoption. To realize such a system, we leverage the 2D AoA spectrum of the signals reflected from the human body and the deep learning techniques. In particular, the 2D AoA spectrum is proposed to locate different parts of the human body as well as to enable environment-independent pose estimation. Deep learning is incorporated to model the complex relationship between the 2D AoA spectrums and the 3D skeletons of the human body for pose tracking. Our evaluation results show GoPose achieves around 4.7cm of accuracy under various scenarios including tracking unseen activities and under NLoS scenarios.

MMA-Net: Multiple Morphology-Aware Network for Automated Cobb Angle MeasurementZhengxuan Qiu, Jie Yang, Jiankun Wang
Scoliosis diagnosis and assessment depend largely on the measurement of the Cobb angle in spine X-ray images. With the emergence of deep learning techniques that employ landmark detection, tilt prediction, and spine segmentation, automated Cobb angle measurement has become increasingly popular. However, these methods encounter difficulties such as high noise sensitivity, intricate computational procedures, and exclusive reliance on a single type of morphological information. In this paper, we introduce the Multiple Morphology-Aware Network (MMA-Net), a novel framework that improves Cobb angle measurement accuracy by integrating multiple spine morphology as attention information. In the MMA-Net, we first feed spine X-ray images into the segmentation network to produce multiple morphological information (spine region, centerline, and boundary) and then concatenate the original X-ray image with the resulting segmentation maps as input for the regression module to perform precise Cobb angle measurement. Furthermore, we devise joint loss functions for our segmentation and regression network training, respectively. We evaluate our method on the AASCE challenge dataset and achieve superior performance with the SMAPE of 7.28% and the MAE of 3.18°, indicating a strong competitiveness compared to other outstanding methods. Consequently, we can offer clinicians automated, efficient, and reliable Cobb angle measurement.

NeUDF: Leaning Neural Unsigned Distance Fields with Volume RenderingYu-Tao Liu, Li Wang, Jie yang et al.
Multi-view shape reconstruction has achieved impressive progresses thanks to the latest advances in neural implicit surface rendering. However, existing methods based on signed distance function (SDF) are limited to closed surfaces, failing to reconstruct a wide range of real-world objects that contain open-surface structures. In this work, we introduce a new neural rendering framework, coded NeUDF, that can reconstruct surfaces with arbitrary topologies solely from multi-view supervision. To gain the flexibility of representing arbitrary surfaces, NeUDF leverages the unsigned distance function (UDF) as surface representation. While a naive extension of an SDF-based neural renderer cannot scale to UDF, we propose two new formulations of weight function specially tailored for UDF-based volume rendering. Furthermore, to cope with open surface rendering, where the in/out test is no longer valid, we present a dedicated normal regularization strategy to resolve the surface orientation ambiguity. We extensively evaluate our method over a number of challenging datasets, including DTU}, MGN, and Deep Fashion 3D. Experimental results demonstrate that nEudf can significantly outperform the state-of-the-art method in the task of multi-view surface reconstruction, especially for complex shapes with open boundaries.

Muti-scale Graph Neural Network with Signed-attention for Social Bot Detection: A Frequency PerspectiveShuhao Shi, Kai Qiao, Zhengyan Wang et al.
The presence of a large number of bots on social media has adverse effects. The graph neural network (GNN) can effectively leverage the social relationships between users and achieve excellent results in detecting bots. Recently, more and more GNN-based methods have been proposed for bot detection. However, the existing GNN-based bot detection methods only focus on low-frequency information and seldom consider high-frequency information, which limits the representation ability of the model. To address this issue, this paper proposes a Multi-scale with Signed-attention Graph Filter for social bot detection called MSGS. MSGS could effectively utilize both high and low-frequency information in the social graph. Specifically, MSGS utilizes a multi-scale structure to produce representation vectors at different scales. These representations are then combined using a signed-attention mechanism. Finally, multi-scale representations via MLP after polymerization to produce the final result. We analyze the frequency response and demonstrate that MSGS is a more flexible and expressive adaptive graph filter. MSGS can effectively utilize high-frequency information to alleviate the over-smoothing problem of deep GNNs. Experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate that our method achieves better performance compared with several state-of-the-art social bot detection methods.

Multichannel Synthetic Preictal EEG Signals to Enhance the Prediction of Epileptic SeizuresYankun Xu, Jie Yang, Mohamad Sawan
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder affecting 1\% of people worldwide, deep learning (DL) algorithms-based electroencephalograph (EEG) analysis provides the possibility for accurate epileptic seizure (ES) prediction, thereby benefiting patients suffering from epilepsy. To identify the preictal region that precedes the onset of seizure, a large number of annotated EEG signals are required to train DL algorithms. However, the scarcity of seizure onsets leads to significant insufficiency of data for training the DL algorithms. To overcome this data insufficiency, in this paper, we propose a preictal artificial signal synthesis algorithm based on a generative adversarial network to generate synthetic multichannel EEG preictal samples. A high-quality single-channel architecture, determined by visual and statistical evaluations, is used to train the generators of multichannel samples. The effectiveness of the synthetic samples is evaluated by comparing the ES prediction performances without and with synthetic preictal sample augmentation. The leave-one-seizure-out cross validation ES prediction accuracy and corresponding area under the receiver operating characteristic curve evaluation improve from 73.0\% and 0.676 to 78.0\% and 0.704 by 10$\times$ synthetic sample augmentation, respectively. The obtained results indicate that synthetic preictal samples are effective for enhancing ES prediction performance.

3D Human Mesh Construction Leveraging Wi-FiYichao Wang, Jie Yang
In this paper, we present, Wi-Mesh, a WiFi vision-based 3D human mesh construction system. Our system leverages the advances of WiFi to visualize the shape and deformations of the human body for 3D mesh construction. In particular, it leverages multiple transmitting and receiving antennas on WiFi devices to estimate the two-dimensional angle of arrival (2D AoA) of the WiFi signal reflections to enable WiFi devices to see the physical environment as we humans do. It then extracts only the images of the human body from the physical environment and leverages deep learning models to digitize the extracted human body into a 3D mesh representation. Experimental evaluation under various indoor environments shows that Wi-Mesh achieves an average vertices location error of 2.81cm and joint position error of 2.4cm, which is comparable to the systems that utilize specialized and dedicated hardware. The proposed system has the advantage of re-using the WiFi devices that already exist in the environment for potential mass adoption. It can also work in non-line of sight (NLoS), poor lighting conditions, and baggy clothes, where the camera-based systems do not work well.
