Improving Long Tailed Document-Level Relation Extraction via Easy Relation Augmentation and Contrastive Learning

Towards real-world information extraction scenario, research of relation extraction is advancing to document-level relation extraction(DocRE). Existing approaches for DocRE aim to extract relation by encoding various information sources in the long context by novel model architectures. However, the inherent long-tailed distribution problem of DocRE is overlooked by prior work. We argue that mitigating the long-tailed distribution problem is crucial for DocRE in the real-world scenario. Motivated by the long-tailed distribution problem, we propose an Easy Relation Augmentation(ERA) method for improving DocRE by enhancing the performance of tailed relations. In addition, we further propose a novel contrastive learning framework based on our ERA, i.e., ERACL, which can further improve the model performance on tailed relations and achieve competitive overall DocRE performance compared to the state-of-arts.

Panoptic Scene Graph Generation with Semantics-Prototype Learning

Panoptic Scene Graph Generation (PSG) parses objects and predicts their relationships (predicate) to connect human language and visual scenes. However, different language preferences of annotators and semantic overlaps between predicates lead to biased predicate annotations in the dataset, i.e. different predicates for same object pairs. Biased predicate annotations make PSG models struggle in constructing a clear decision plane among predicates, which greatly hinders the real application of PSG models. To address the intrinsic bias above, we propose a novel framework named ADTrans to adaptively transfer biased predicate annotations to informative and unified ones. To promise consistency and accuracy during the transfer process, we propose to measure the invariance of representations in each predicate class, and learn unbiased prototypes of predicates with different intensities. Meanwhile, we continuously measure the distribution changes between each presentation and its prototype, and constantly screen potential biased data. Finally, with the unbiased predicate-prototype representation embedding space, biased annotations are easily identified. Experiments show that ADTrans significantly improves the performance of benchmark models, achieving a new state-of-the-art performance, and shows great generalization and effectiveness on multiple datasets.

MRTNet: Multi-Resolution Temporal Network for Video Sentence Grounding

Given an untrimmed video and natural language query, video sentence grounding aims to localize the target temporal moment in the video. Existing methods mainly tackle this task by matching and aligning semantics of the descriptive sentence and video segments on a single temporal resolution, while neglecting the temporal consistency of video content in different resolutions. In this work, we propose a novel multi-resolution temporal video sentence grounding network: MRTNet, which consists of a multi-modal feature encoder, a Multi-Resolution Temporal (MRT) module, and a predictor module. MRT module is an encoder-decoder network, and output features in the decoder part are in conjunction with Transformers to predict the final start and end timestamps. Particularly, our MRT module is hot-pluggable, which means it can be seamlessly incorporated into any anchor-free models. Besides, we utilize a hybrid loss to supervise cross-modal features in MRT module for more accurate grounding in three scales: frame-level, clip-level and sequence-level. Extensive experiments on three prevalent datasets have shown the effectiveness of MRTNet.

Are Tools Always Beneficial? Learning to Invoke Tools Adaptively for Dual-Mode Multimodal LLM Reasoning

Tool-augmented reasoning has emerged as a promising direction for enhancing the reasoning capabilities of multimodal large language models (MLLMs). However, existing studies mainly focus on enabling models to perform tool invocation, while neglecting the necessity of invoking tools. We argue that tool usage is not always beneficial, as redundant or inappropriate invocations largely increase reasoning overhead and even mislead model predictions. To address this issue, we introduce AutoTool, a model that adaptively decides whether to invoke tools according to the characteristics of each query. Within a reinforcement learning framework, we design an explicit dual-mode reasoning strategy with mode-specific reward functions to guide the model toward producing accurate responses. Moreover, to prevent premature bias toward a single reasoning mode, AutoTool jointly explores and balances tool-assisted and text-centric reasoning throughout training, and promotes free exploration in later stages. Extensive experiments demonstrate that AutoTool exhibits outstanding performance and high efficiency, yielding a 21.8\% accuracy gain on V* benchmark compared to the base model, and a 44.9\% improvement in efficiency over existing tool-augmented methods on POPE benchmark. Progressive Classifier and Feature Extractor Adaptation for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation on Point Clouds

Unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) is a critical challenge in the field of point cloud analysis. Previous works tackle the problem either by feature extractor adaptation to enable a shared classifier to distinguish domain-invariant features, or by classifier adaptation to evolve the classifier to recognize target-styled source features to increase its adaptation ability. However, by learning domain-invariant features, feature extractor adaptation methods fail to encode semantically meaningful target-specific information, while classifier adaptation methods rely heavily on the accurate estimation of the target distribution. In this work, we propose a novel framework that deeply couples the classifier and feature extractor adaption for 3D UDA, dubbed Progressive Classifier and Feature Extractor Adaptation (PCFEA). Our PCFEA conducts 3D UDA from two distinct perspectives: macro and micro levels. On the macro level, we propose a progressive target-styled feature augmentation (PTFA) that establishes a series of intermediate domains to enable the model to progressively adapt to the target domain. Throughout this process, the source classifier is evolved to recognize target-styled source features (\ie, classifier adaptation). On the micro level, we develop an intermediate domain feature extractor adaptation (IDFA) that performs a compact feature alignment to encourage the target-styled feature extraction gradually. In this way, PTFA and IDFA can mutually benefit each other: IDFA contributes to the distribution estimation of PTFA while PTFA constructs smoother intermediate domains to encourage an accurate feature alignment of IDFA. HeightFormer: Explicit Height Modeling without Extra Data for Camera-only 3D Object Detection in Bird's Eye View

Vision-based Bird's Eye View (BEV) representation is an emerging perception formulation for autonomous driving. The core challenge is to construct BEV space with multi-camera features, which is a one-to-many ill-posed problem. Diving into all previous BEV representation generation methods, we found that most of them fall into two types: modeling depths in image views or modeling heights in the BEV space, mostly in an implicit way. In this work, we propose to explicitly model heights in the BEV space, which needs no extra data like LiDAR and can fit arbitrary camera rigs and types compared to modeling depths. Theoretically, we give proof of the equivalence between height-based methods and depth-based methods. Considering the equivalence and some advantages of modeling heights, we propose HeightFormer, which models heights and uncertainties in a self-recursive way. Without any extra data, the proposed HeightFormer could estimate heights in BEV accurately. Benchmark results show that the performance of HeightFormer achieves SOTA compared with those camera-only methods.

CoLVR: Enhancing Exploratory Latent Visual Reasoning via Contrastive Optimization

Due to the potential for exploratory reasoning of Latent Visual Reasoning, recent works tend to enable MLLMs (Multimodal Large Language Models) to perform visual reasoning by propagating continuous hidden states instead of decoding intermediate steps into discrete tokens. However, existing works typically rely on hard alignment objectives to force latent representations to match predefined visual features, thereby severely limiting the exploratory of latent reasoning process. To address this problem, we propose CoLVR (Contrastive Optimization for Latent Visual Reasoning). To obtain a more exploratory visual reasoning, CoLVR introduces a latent contrastive training framework. Firstly, CoLVR learns diverse and exploratory representations with a latent contrastive objective guided by angle-based perturbation, which expands the semantic latent space and avoids over-constrained embedding. Then, CoLVR employs a latent trajectory contrastive reward for RL (Reinforcement Learning) post-training to enable fine-grained optimization of latent visual reasoning process and thus fostering diverse reasoning behaviors. Experiments demonstrate that CoLVR significantly enhances the exploratory capability of latent representations, achieving average improvements of 5.83% on VSP and 8.00% on Jigsaw, while also outperforming existing latent models on out of domain benchmarks, with a 3.40% gain on MMStar. F3A-GAN: Facial Flow for Face Animation with Generative Adversarial Networks

Formulated as a conditional generation problem, face animation aims at synthesizing continuous face images from a single source image driven by a set of conditional face motion. Previous works mainly model the face motion as conditions with 1D or 2D representation (e.g., action units, emotion codes, landmark), which often leads to low-quality results in some complicated scenarios such as continuous generation and largepose transformation. To tackle this problem, the conditions are supposed to meet two requirements, i.e., motion information preserving and geometric continuity. To this end, we propose a novel representation based on a 3D geometric flow, termed facial flow, to represent the natural motion of the human face at any pose. Compared with other previous conditions, the proposed facial flow well controls the continuous changes to the face. After that, in order to utilize the facial flow for face editing, we build a synthesis framework generating continuous images with conditional facial flows. To fully take advantage of the motion information of facial flows, a hierarchical conditional framework is designed to combine the extracted multi-scale appearance features from images and motion features from flows in a hierarchical manner. The framework then decodes multiple fused features back to images progressively. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method compared to other state-of-the-art methods.

D3T-GAN: Data-Dependent Domain Transfer GANs for Few-shot Image Generation

As an important and challenging problem, few-shot image generation aims at generating realistic images through training a GAN model given few samples. A typical solution for few-shot generation is to transfer a well-trained GAN model from a data-rich source domain to the data-deficient target domain. In this paper, we propose a novel self-supervised transfer scheme termed D3T-GAN, addressing the cross-domain GANs transfer in few-shot image generation. Specifically, we design two individual strategies to transfer knowledge between generators and discriminators, respectively. To transfer knowledge between generators, we conduct a data-dependent transformation, which projects and reconstructs the target samples into the source generator space. Then, we perform knowledge transfer from transformed samples to generated samples. To transfer knowledge between discriminators, we design a multi-level discriminant knowledge distillation from the source discriminator to the target discriminator on both the real and fake samples. Extensive experiments show that our method improve the quality of generated images and achieves the state-of-the-art FID scores on commonly used datasets.

PoinTramba: A Hybrid Transformer-Mamba Framework for Point Cloud Analysis

Point cloud analysis has seen substantial advancements due to deep learning, although previous Transformer-based methods excel at modeling long-range dependencies on this task, their computational demands are substantial. Conversely, the Mamba offers greater efficiency but shows limited potential compared with Transformer-based methods. In this study, we introduce PoinTramba, a pioneering hybrid framework that synergies the analytical power of Transformer with the remarkable computational efficiency of Mamba for enhanced point cloud analysis. Specifically, our approach first segments point clouds into groups, where the Transformer meticulously captures intricate intra-group dependencies and produces group embeddings, whose inter-group relationships will be simultaneously and adeptly captured by efficient Mamba architecture, ensuring comprehensive analysis. Unlike previous Mamba approaches, we introduce a bi-directional importance-aware ordering (BIO) strategy to tackle the challenges of random ordering effects. This innovative strategy intelligently reorders group embeddings based on their calculated importance scores, significantly enhancing Mamba's performance and optimizing the overall analytical process. Our framework achieves a superior balance between computational efficiency and analytical performance by seamlessly integrating these advanced techniques, marking a substantial leap forward in point cloud analysis. Extensive experiments on datasets such as ScanObjectNN, ModelNet40, and ShapeNetPart demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach, establishing a new state-of-the-art analysis benchmark on point cloud recognition. For the first time, this paradigm leverages the combined strengths of both Transformer and Mamba architectures, facilitating a new standard in the field. Efficient Long-Context Modeling in Diffusion Language Models via Block Approximate Sparse Attention

Diffusion Language Models (DLMs) enable globally coherent, bidirectional, and controllable text generation, offering advantages over traditional autoregressive LLMs, while scaling to ultra-long sequences remains costly. Many existing block-sparse attention methods select blocks by fixed sampling patterns over the high-resolution attention space, such as tail regions or anti-diagonal stripes. Such prior-driven sampling can miss salient tokens and introduce instability under distribution shifts. In this paper, we propose the Block Approximate Sparse Attention framework (BA-Att) with block-wise pre-downsampled operation, which identifies informative regions within a compact downsampled space, avoiding reliance on brittle positional priors. To analyze its theoretical behavior, we define an oracle post-downsample attention map and formalize the approximation error between pre- and post-downsample schemes. Based on this insight, we introduce a lightweight norm-sorting module and a covariance-compensated correction that approximates full covariance using diagonal QK variances, reducing computational complexity. Extensive experiments show that our operator achieves up to 6.95x acceleration over FlashAttention in attention computation, and maintains near full-attention performance at 50% sparsity across language models, multimodal language models, and video generation models, demonstrating strong efficiency and generalization.

Device-Conditioned Neural Architecture Search for Efficient Robotic Manipulation

The growing complexity of visuomotor policies poses significant challenges for deployment with heterogeneous robotic hardware constraints. However, most existing model-efficient approaches for robotic manipulation are device- and model-specific, lack generalizability, and require time-consuming per-device optimization during the adaptation process. In this work, we propose a unified framework named \textbf{D}evice-\textbf{C}onditioned \textbf{Q}uantization-\textbf{F}or-\textbf{A}ll (DC-QFA) which amortizes deployment effort with the device-conditioned quantization-aware training and hardware-constrained architecture search. Specifically, we introduce a single supernet that spans a rich design space over network architectures and mixed-precision bit-widths. It is optimized with latency- and memory-aware regularization, guided by per-device lookup tables. With this supernet, for each target platform, we can perform a once-for-all lightweight search to select an optimal subnet without any per-device re-optimization, which enables more generalizable deployment across heterogeneous hardware, and substantially reduces deployment time. To improve long-horizon stability under low precision, we further introduce multi-step on-policy distillation to mitigate error accumulation during closed-loop execution. Extensive experiments on three representative policy backbones, such as DiffusionPolicy-T, MDT-V, and OpenVLA-OFT, demonstrate that our DC-QFA achieves $2\text{-}3\times$ acceleration on edge devices, consumer-grade GPUs, and cloud platforms, with negligible performance drop in task success. Real-world evaluations on an Inovo robot equipped with a force/torque sensor further validates that our low-bit DC-QFA policies maintain stable, contact-rich manipulation even under severe quantization.

Towards Consumer-Grade Cybersickness Prediction: Multi-Model Alignment for Real-Time Vision-Only Inference

Cybersickness remains a major obstacle to the widespread adoption of immersive virtual reality (VR), particularly in consumer-grade environments. While prior methods rely on invasive signals such as electroencephalography (EEG) for high predictive accuracy, these approaches require specialized hardware and are impractical for real-world applications. In this work, we propose a scalable, deployable framework for personalized cybersickness prediction leveraging only non-invasive signals readily available from commercial VR headsets, including head motion, eye tracking, and physiological responses. Our model employs a modality-specific graph neural network enhanced with a Difference Attention Module to extract temporal-spatial embeddings capturing dynamic changes across modalities. A cross-modal alignment module jointly trains the video encoder to learn personalized traits by aligning video features with sensor-derived representations. Consequently, the model accurately predicts individual cybersickness using only video input during inference. Experimental results show our model achieves 88.4\% accuracy, closely matching EEG-based approaches (89.16\%), while reducing deployment complexity. With an average inference latency of 90ms, our framework supports real-time applications, ideal for integration into consumer-grade VR platforms without compromising personalization or performance. BANet: Bidirectional Aggregation Network with Occlusion Handling for Panoptic Segmentation

Panoptic segmentation aims to perform instance segmentation for foreground instances and semantic segmentation for background stuff simultaneously. The typical top-down pipeline concentrates on two key issues: 1) how to effectively model the intrinsic interaction between semantic segmentation and instance segmentation, and 2) how to properly handle occlusion for panoptic segmentation. Intuitively, the complementarity between semantic segmentation and instance segmentation can be leveraged to improve the performance. Besides, we notice that using detection/mask scores is insufficient for resolving the occlusion problem. Motivated by these observations, we propose a novel deep panoptic segmentation scheme based on a bidirectional learning pipeline. Moreover, we introduce a plug-and-play occlusion handling algorithm to deal with the occlusion between different object instances. Adaptive Graph Representation Learning for Video Person Re-identification

Recent years have witnessed the remarkable progress of applying deep learning models in video person re-identification (Re-ID). A key factor for video person Re-ID is to effectively construct discriminative and robust video feature representations for many complicated situations. Part-based approaches employ spatial and temporal attention to extract representative local features. While correlations between parts are ignored in the previous methods, to leverage the relations of different parts, we propose an innovative adaptive graph representation learning scheme for video person Re-ID, which enables the contextual interactions between relevant regional features. Specifically, we exploit the pose alignment connection and the feature affinity connection to construct an adaptive structure-aware adjacency graph, which models the intrinsic relations between graph nodes. We perform feature propagation on the adjacency graph to refine regional features iteratively, and the neighbor nodes' information is taken into account for part feature representation. To learn compact and discriminative representations, we further propose a novel temporal resolution-aware regularization, which enforces the consistency among different temporal resolutions for the same identities. We conduct extensive evaluations on four benchmarks, i.e. iLIDS-VID, PRID2011, MARS, and DukeMTMC-VideoReID, experimental results achieve the competitive performance which demonstrates the effectiveness of our proposed method. Self-distilled Dynamic Fusion Network for Language-based Fashion Retrieval

In the domain of language-based fashion image retrieval, pinpointing the desired fashion item using both a reference image and its accompanying textual description is an intriguing challenge. Existing approaches lean heavily on static fusion techniques, intertwining image and text. Despite their commendable advancements, these approaches are still limited by a deficiency in flexibility. In response, we propose a Self-distilled Dynamic Fusion Network to compose the multi-granularity features dynamically by considering the consistency of routing path and modality-specific information simultaneously. Two new modules are included in our proposed method: (1) Dynamic Fusion Network with Modality Specific Routers. The dynamic network enables a flexible determination of the routing for each reference image and modification text, taking into account their distinct semantics and distributions. (2) Self Path Distillation Loss. A stable path decision for queries benefits the optimization of feature extraction as well as routing, and we approach this by progressively refine the path decision with previous path information. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model compared to existing methods.

SOEDiff: Efficient Distillation for Small Object Editing

In this paper, we delve into a new task known as small object editing (SOE), which focuses on text-based image inpainting within a constrained, small-sized area. Despite the remarkable success have been achieved by current image inpainting approaches, their application to the SOE task generally results in failure cases such as Object Missing, Text-Image Mismatch, and Distortion. These failures stem from the limited use of small-sized objects in training datasets and the downsampling operations employed by U-Net models, which hinders accurate generation. To overcome these challenges, we introduce a novel training-based approach, SOEDiff, aimed at enhancing the capability of baseline models like StableDiffusion in editing small-sized objects while minimizing training costs. Specifically, our method involves two key components: SO-LoRA, which efficiently fine-tunes low-rank matrices, and Cross-Scale Score Distillation loss, which leverages high-resolution predictions from the pre-trained teacher diffusion model. Our method presents significant improvements on the test dataset collected from MSCOCO and OpenImage, validating the effectiveness of our proposed method in small object editing. In particular, when comparing SOEDiff with SD-I model on the OpenImage-f dataset, we observe a 0.99 improvement in CLIP-Score and a reduction of 2.87 in FID.

On-Device Diffusion Transformer Policy for Efficient Robot Manipulation

Diffusion Policies have significantly advanced robotic manipulation tasks via imitation learning, but their application on resource-constrained mobile platforms remains challenging due to computational inefficiency and extensive memory footprint. In this paper, we propose LightDP, a novel framework specifically designed to accelerate Diffusion Policies for real-time deployment on mobile devices. LightDP addresses the computational bottleneck through two core strategies: network compression of the denoising modules and reduction of the required sampling steps. We first conduct an extensive computational analysis on existing Diffusion Policy architectures, identifying the denoising network as the primary contributor to latency. To overcome performance degradation typically associated with conventional pruning methods, we introduce a unified pruning and retraining pipeline, optimizing the model's post-pruning recoverability explicitly. Furthermore, we combine pruning techniques with consistency distillation to effectively reduce sampling steps while maintaining action prediction accuracy. Experimental evaluations on the standard datasets, \ie, PushT, Robomimic, CALVIN, and LIBERO, demonstrate that LightDP achieves real-time action prediction on mobile devices with competitive performance, marking an important step toward practical deployment of diffusion-based policies in resource-limited environments. Extensive real-world experiments also show the proposed LightDP can achieve performance comparable to state-of-the-art Diffusion Policies.

MoTe: Learning Motion-Text Diffusion Model for Multiple Generation Tasks

Recently, human motion analysis has experienced great improvement due to inspiring generative models such as the denoising diffusion model and large language model. While the existing approaches mainly focus on generating motions with textual descriptions and overlook the reciprocal task. In this paper, we present~\textbf{MoTe}, a unified multi-modal model that could handle diverse tasks by learning the marginal, conditional, and joint distributions of motion and text simultaneously. MoTe enables us to handle the paired text-motion generation, motion captioning, and text-driven motion generation by simply modifying the input context. Specifically, MoTe is composed of three components: Motion Encoder-Decoder (MED), Text Encoder-Decoder (TED), and Moti-on-Text Diffusion Model (MTDM). In particular, MED and TED are trained for extracting latent embeddings, and subsequently reconstructing the motion sequences and textual descriptions from the extracted embeddings, respectively. MTDM, on the other hand, performs an iterative denoising process on the input context to handle diverse tasks. Experimental results on the benchmark datasets demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed method on text-to-motion generation and competitive performance on motion captioning.

Individual Content and Motion Dynamics Preserved Pruning for Video Diffusion Models

The high computational cost and slow inference time are major obstacles to deploying Video Diffusion Models (VDMs). To overcome this, we introduce a new Video Diffusion Model Compression approach using individual content and motion dynamics preserved pruning and consistency loss. First, we empirically observe that deeper VDM layers are crucial for maintaining the quality of \textbf{motion dynamics} (\textit{e.g.,} coherence of the entire video), while shallower layers are more focused on \textbf{individual content} (\textit{e.g.,} individual frames). Therefore, we prune redundant blocks from the shallower layers while preserving more of the deeper layers, resulting in a lightweight VDM variant called VDMini. Moreover, we propose an \textbf{Individual Content and Motion Dynamics (ICMD)} Consistency Loss to gain comparable generation performance as larger VDM to VDMini. In particular, we first use the Individual Content Distillation (ICD) Loss to preserve the consistency in the features of each generated frame between the teacher and student models. Next, we introduce a Multi-frame Content Adversarial (MCA) Loss to enhance the motion dynamics across the generated video as a whole. This method significantly accelerates inference time while maintaining high-quality video generation. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our VDMini on two important video generation tasks, Text-to-Video (T2V) and Image-to-Video (I2V), where we respectively achieve an average 2.5 $\times$, 1.4 $\times$, and 1.25 $\times$ speed up for the I2V method SF-V, the T2V method T2V-Turbo-v2, and the T2V method HunyuanVideo, while maintaining the quality of the generated videos on several benchmarks including UCF101, VBench-T2V, and VBench-I2V.

Towards Small Object Editing: A Benchmark Dataset and A Training-Free Approach

A plethora of text-guided image editing methods has recently been developed by leveraging the impressive capabilities of large-scale diffusion-based generative models especially Stable Diffusion. Despite the success of diffusion models in producing high-quality images, their application to small object generation has been limited due to difficulties in aligning cross-modal attention maps between text and these objects. Our approach offers a training-free method that significantly mitigates this alignment issue with local and global attention guidance , enhancing the model's ability to accurately render small objects in accordance with textual descriptions. We detail the methodology in our approach, emphasizing its divergence from traditional generation techniques and highlighting its advantages. What's more important is that we also provide~\textit{SOEBench} (Small Object Editing), a standardized benchmark for quantitatively evaluating text-based small object generation collected from \textit{MSCOCO} and \textit{OpenImage}. Preliminary results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, showing marked improvements in the fidelity and accuracy of small object generation compared to existing models. This advancement not only contributes to the field of AI and computer vision but also opens up new possibilities for applications in various industries where precise image generation is critical. Training-Free Unsupervised Prompt for Vision-Language Models

Prompt learning has become the most effective paradigm for adapting large pre-trained vision-language models (VLMs) to downstream tasks. Recently, unsupervised prompt tuning methods, such as UPL and POUF, directly leverage pseudo-labels as supervisory information to fine-tune additional adaptation modules on unlabeled data. However, inaccurate pseudo labels easily misguide the tuning process and result in poor representation capabilities. In light of this, we propose Training-Free Unsupervised Prompts (TFUP), which maximally preserves the inherent representation capabilities and enhances them with a residual connection to similarity-based prediction probabilities in a training-free and labeling-free manner. Specifically, we integrate both instance confidence and prototype scores to select representative samples, which are used to customize a reliable Feature Cache Model (FCM) for training-free inference. Then, we design a Multi-level Similarity Measure (MSM) that considers both feature-level and semantic-level similarities to calculate the distance between each test image and the cached sample as the weight of the corresponding cached label to generate similarity-based prediction probabilities. In this way, TFUP achieves surprising performance, even surpassing the training-base method on multiple classification datasets. Based on our TFUP, we propose a training-based approach (TFUP-T) to further boost the adaptation performance. In addition to the standard cross-entropy loss, TFUP-T adopts an additional marginal distribution entropy loss to constrain the model from a global perspective. Our TFUP-T achieves new state-of-the-art classification performance compared to unsupervised and few-shot adaptation approaches on multiple benchmarks. In particular, TFUP-T improves the classification accuracy of POUF by 3.3% on the most challenging Domain-Net dataset.

Representation Learning on Large Non-Bipartite Transaction Networks using GraphSAGE

Financial institutions increasingly require scalable tools to analyse complex transactional networks, yet traditional graph embedding methods struggle with dynamic, real-world banking data. This paper demonstrates the practical application of GraphSAGE, an inductive Graph Neural Network framework, to non-bipartite heterogeneous transaction networks within a banking context. Unlike transductive approaches, GraphSAGE scales well to large networks and can generalise to unseen nodes which is critical for institutions working with temporally evolving transactional data. We construct a transaction network using anonymised customer and merchant transactions and train a GraphSAGE model to generate node embeddings. Our exploratory work on the embeddings reveals interpretable clusters aligned with geographic and demographic attributes. Additionally, we illustrate their utility in downstream classification tasks by applying them to a money mule detection model where using these embeddings improves the prioritisation of high-risk accounts. Beyond fraud detection, our work highlights the adaptability of this framework to banking-scale networks, emphasising its inductive capability, scalability, and interpretability. This study provides a blueprint for financial organisations to harness graph machine learning for actionable insights in transactional ecosystems.

Versatile Video Tokenization with Generative 2D Gaussian Splatting

Video tokenization procedure is critical for a wide range of video processing tasks. Most existing approaches directly transform video into fixed-grid and patch-wise tokens, which exhibit limited versatility. Spatially, uniformly allocating a fixed number of tokens often leads to over-encoding in low-information regions. Temporally, reducing redundancy remains challenging without explicitly distinguishing between static and dynamic content. In this work, we propose the Gaussian Video Transformer (GVT), a versatile video tokenizer built upon a generative 2D Gaussian Splatting (2DGS) strategy. We first extract latent rigid features from a video clip and represent them with a set of 2D Gaussians generated by our proposed Spatio-Temporal Gaussian Embedding (STGE) mechanism in a feed-forward manner. Such generative 2D Gaussians not only enhance spatial adaptability by assigning higher (resp., lower) rendering weights to regions with higher (resp., lower) information content during rasterization, but also improve generalization by avoiding per-video optimization.To enhance the temporal versatility, we introduce a Gaussian Set Partitioning (GSP) strategy that separates the 2D Gaussians into static and dynamic sets, which explicitly model static content shared across different time-steps and dynamic content specific to each time-step, enabling a compact representation.We primarily evaluate GVT on the video reconstruction, while also assessing its performance on action recognition and compression using the UCF101, Kinetics, and DAVIS datasets. Extensive experiments demonstrate that GVT achieves a state-of-the-art video reconstruction quality, outperforms the baseline MAGVIT-v2 in action recognition, and delivers comparable compression performance.

Improving vision-language alignment with graph spiking hybrid Networks

To bridge the semantic gap between vision and language (VL), it is necessary to develop a good alignment strategy, which includes handling semantic diversity, abstract representation of visual information, and generalization ability of models. Recent works use detector-based bounding boxes or patches with regular partitions to represent visual semantics. While current paradigms have made strides, they are still insufficient for fully capturing the nuanced contextual relations among various objects. This paper proposes a comprehensive visual semantic representation module, necessitating the utilization of panoptic segmentation to generate coherent fine-grained semantic features. Furthermore, we propose a novel Graph Spiking Hybrid Network (GSHN) that integrates the complementary advantages of Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) and Graph Attention Networks (GATs) to encode visual semantic information. Intriguingly, the model not only encodes the discrete and continuous latent variables of instances but also adeptly captures both local and global contextual features, thereby significantly enhancing the richness and diversity of semantic representations. Leveraging the spatiotemporal properties inherent in SNNs, we employ contrastive learning (CL) to enhance the similarity-based representation of embeddings. This strategy alleviates the computational overhead of the model and enriches meaningful visual representations by constructing positive and negative sample pairs. We design an innovative pre-training method, Spiked Text Learning (STL), which uses text features to improve the encoding ability of discrete semantics. Experiments show that the proposed GSHN exhibits promising results on multiple VL downstream tasks.

MGH: Metadata Guided Hypergraph Modeling for Unsupervised Person Re-identification

As a challenging task, unsupervised person ReID aims to match the same identity with query images which does not require any labeled information. In general, most existing approaches focus on the visual cues only, leaving potentially valuable auxiliary metadata information (e.g., spatio-temporal context) unexplored. In the real world, such metadata is normally available alongside captured images, and thus plays an important role in separating several hard ReID matches. With this motivation in mind, we propose~\textbf{MGH}, a novel unsupervised person ReID approach that uses meta information to construct a hypergraph for feature learning and label refinement. In principle, the hypergraph is composed of camera-topology-aware hyperedges, which can model the heterogeneous data correlations across cameras. Taking advantage of label propagation on the hypergraph, the proposed approach is able to effectively refine the ReID results, such as correcting the wrong labels or smoothing the noisy labels. Given the refined results, We further present a memory-based listwise loss to directly optimize the average precision in an approximate manner. Extensive experiments on three benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach against the state-of-the-art.

Semi-supervised Neural Chord Estimation Based on a Variational Autoencoder with Latent Chord Labels and Features

This paper describes a statistically-principled semi-supervised method of automatic chord estimation (ACE) that can make effective use of music signals regardless of the availability of chord annotations. The typical approach to ACE is to train a deep classification model (neural chord estimator) in a supervised manner by using only annotated music signals. In this discriminative approach, prior knowledge about chord label sequences (model output) has scarcely been taken into account. In contrast, we propose a unified generative and discriminative approach in the framework of amortized variational inference. More specifically, we formulate a deep generative model that represents the generative process of chroma vectors (observed variables) from discrete labels and continuous features (latent variables), which are assumed to follow a Markov model favoring self-transitions and a standard Gaussian distribution, respectively. Given chroma vectors as observed data, the posterior distributions of the latent labels and features are computed approximately by using deep classification and recognition models, respectively. These three models form a variational autoencoder and can be trained jointly in a semi-supervised manner. The experimental results show that the regularization of the classification model based on the Markov prior of chord labels and the generative model of chroma vectors improved the performance of ACE even under the supervised condition. The semi-supervised learning using additional non-annotated data can further improve the performance.

An Enhanced Ad Event-Prediction Method Based on Feature Engineering

In digital advertising, Click-Through Rate (CTR) and Conversion Rate (CVR) are very important metrics for evaluating ad performance. As a result, ad event prediction systems are vital and widely used for sponsored search and display advertising as well as Real-Time Bidding (RTB). In this work, we introduce an enhanced method for ad event prediction (i.e. clicks, conversions) by proposing a new efficient feature engineering approach. A large real-world event-based dataset of a running marketing campaign is used to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed prediction algorithm. The results illustrate the benefits of the proposed ad event prediction approach, which significantly outperforms the alternative ones.

FDI: Quantifying Feature-based Data Inferability

Motivated by many existing security and privacy applications, e.g., network traffic attribution, linkage attacks, private web search, and feature-based data de-anonymization, in this paper, we study the Feature-based Data Inferability (FDI) quantification problem. First, we conduct the FDI quantification under both naive and general data models from both a feature distance perspective and a feature distribution perspective. Our quantification explicitly shows the conditions to have a desired fraction of the target users to be Top-K inferable (K is an integer parameter). Then, based on our quantification, we evaluate the user inferability in two cases: network traffic attribution in network forensics and feature-based data de-anonymization. Finally, based on the quantification and evaluation, we discuss the implications of this research for existing feature-based inference systems.

ChamNet: Towards Efficient Network Design through Platform-Aware Model Adaptation

This paper proposes an efficient neural network (NN) architecture design methodology called Chameleon that honors given resource constraints. Instead of developing new building blocks or using computationally-intensive reinforcement learning algorithms, our approach leverages existing efficient network building blocks and focuses on exploiting hardware traits and adapting computation resources to fit target latency and/or energy constraints. We formulate platform-aware NN architecture search in an optimization framework and propose a novel algorithm to search for optimal architectures aided by efficient accuracy and resource (latency and/or energy) predictors. At the core of our algorithm lies an accuracy predictor built atop Gaussian Process with Bayesian optimization for iterative sampling. With a one-time building cost for the predictors, our algorithm produces state-of-the-art model architectures on different platforms under given constraints in just minutes. Our results show that adapting computation resources to building blocks is critical to model performance. Without the addition of any bells and whistles, our models achieve significant accuracy improvements against state-of-the-art hand-crafted and automatically designed architectures. We achieve 73.8% and 75.3% top-1 accuracy on ImageNet at 20ms latency on a mobile CPU and DSP. At reduced latency, our models achieve up to 8.5% (4.8%) and 6.6% (9.3%) absolute top-1 accuracy improvements compared to MobileNetV2 and MnasNet, respectively, on a mobile CPU (DSP), and 2.7% (4.6%) and 5.6% (2.6%) accuracy gains over ResNet-101 and ResNet-152, respectively, on an Nvidia GPU (Intel CPU).

FBNet: Hardware-Aware Efficient ConvNet Design via Differentiable Neural Architecture Search

Designing accurate and efficient ConvNets for mobile devices is challenging because the design space is combinatorially large. Due to this, previous neural architecture search (NAS) methods are computationally expensive. ConvNet architecture optimality depends on factors such as input resolution and target devices. However, existing approaches are too expensive for case-by-case redesigns. Also, previous work focuses primarily on reducing FLOPs, but FLOP count does not always reflect actual latency. To address these, we propose a differentiable neural architecture search (DNAS) framework that uses gradient-based methods to optimize ConvNet architectures, avoiding enumerating and training individual architectures separately as in previous methods. FBNets, a family of models discovered by DNAS surpass state-of-the-art models both designed manually and generated automatically. FBNet-B achieves 74.1% top-1 accuracy on ImageNet with 295M FLOPs and 23.1 ms latency on a Samsung S8 phone, 2.4x smaller and 1.5x faster than MobileNetV2-1.3 with similar accuracy. Despite higher accuracy and lower latency than MnasNet, we estimate FBNet-B's search cost is 420x smaller than MnasNet's, at only 216 GPU-hours. Searched for different resolutions and channel sizes, FBNets achieve 1.5% to 6.4% higher accuracy than MobileNetV2. The smallest FBNet achieves 50.2% accuracy and 2.9 ms latency (345 frames per second) on a Samsung S8. Over a Samsung-optimized FBNet, the iPhone-X-optimized model achieves a 1.4x speedup on an iPhone X.

Deep Learning Inference in Facebook Data Centers: Characterization, Performance Optimizations and Hardware Implications

The application of deep learning techniques resulted in remarkable improvement of machine learning models. In this paper provides detailed characterizations of deep learning models used in many Facebook social network services. We present computational characteristics of our models, describe high performance optimizations targeting existing systems, point out their limitations and make suggestions for the future general-purpose/accelerated inference hardware. Also, we highlight the need for better co-design of algorithms, numerics and computing platforms to address the challenges of workloads often run in data centers.

Context-Aware Deep Spatio-Temporal Network for Hand Pose Estimation from Depth Images

As a fundamental and challenging problem in computer vision, hand pose estimation aims to estimate the hand joint locations from depth images. Typically, the problem is modeled as learning a mapping function from images to hand joint coordinates in a data-driven manner. In this paper, we propose Context-Aware Deep Spatio-Temporal Network (CADSTN), a novel method to jointly model the spatio-temporal properties for hand pose estimation. Our proposed network is able to learn the representations of the spatial information and the temporal structure from the image sequences. Moreover, by adopting adaptive fusion method, the model is capable of dynamically weighting different predictions to lay emphasis on sufficient context. Our method is examined on two common benchmarks, the experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach achieves the best or the second-best performance with state-of-the-art methods and runs in 60fps.
