RynnVLA-002: A Unified Vision-Language-Action and World ModelJun Cen, Siteng Huang, Yuqian Yuan et al. · pku
We introduce RynnVLA-002, a unified Vision-Language-Action (VLA) and world model. The world model leverages action and visual inputs to predict future image states, learning the underlying physics of the environment to refine action generation. Conversely, the VLA model produces subsequent actions from image observations, enhancing visual understanding and supporting the world model's image generation. The unified framework of RynnVLA-002 enables joint learning of environmental dynamics and action planning. Our experiments show that RynnVLA-002 surpasses individual VLA and world models, demonstrating their mutual enhancement. We evaluate RynnVLA-002 in both simulation and real-world robot tasks. RynnVLA-002 achieves 97.4% success rate on the LIBERO simulation benchmark without pretraining, while in real-world LeRobot experiments, its integrated world model boosts the overall success rate by 50%.

DiffAug: Enhance Unsupervised Contrastive Learning with Domain-Knowledge-Free Diffusion-based Data AugmentationZelin Zang, Hao Luo, Kai Wang et al. · stanford
Unsupervised Contrastive learning has gained prominence in fields such as vision, and biology, leveraging predefined positive/negative samples for representation learning. Data augmentation, categorized into hand-designed and model-based methods, has been identified as a crucial component for enhancing contrastive learning. However, hand-designed methods require human expertise in domain-specific data while sometimes distorting the meaning of the data. In contrast, generative model-based approaches usually require supervised or large-scale external data, which has become a bottleneck constraining model training in many domains. To address the problems presented above, this paper proposes DiffAug, a novel unsupervised contrastive learning technique with diffusion mode-based positive data generation. DiffAug consists of a semantic encoder and a conditional diffusion model; the conditional diffusion model generates new positive samples conditioned on the semantic encoding to serve the training of unsupervised contrast learning. With the help of iterative training of the semantic encoder and diffusion model, DiffAug improves the representation ability in an uninterrupted and unsupervised manner. Experimental evaluations show that DiffAug outperforms hand-designed and SOTA model-based augmentation methods on DNA sequence, visual, and bio-feature datasets. SCT: A Simple Baseline for Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning via Salient ChannelsHenry Hengyuan Zhao, Pichao Wang, Yuyang Zhao et al. · stanford
Pre-trained vision transformers have strong representation benefits to various downstream tasks. Recently, many parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) methods have been proposed, and their experiments demonstrate that tuning only 1\% extra parameters could surpass full fine-tuning in low-data resource scenarios. However, these methods overlook the task-specific information when fine-tuning diverse downstream tasks. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective method called "Salient Channel Tuning" (SCT) to leverage the task-specific information by forwarding the model with the task images to select partial channels in a feature map that enables us to tune only 1/8 channels leading to significantly lower parameter costs. Experiments on 19 visual transfer learning downstream tasks demonstrate that our SCT outperforms full fine-tuning on 18 out of 19 tasks by adding only 0.11M parameters of the ViT-B, which is 780$\times$ fewer than its full fine-tuning counterpart. Furthermore, experiments on domain generalization and few-shot classification further demonstrate the effectiveness and generic of our approach. Beyond Appearance: a Semantic Controllable Self-Supervised Learning Framework for Human-Centric Visual TasksWeihua Chen, Xianzhe Xu, Jian Jia et al. · stanford
Human-centric visual tasks have attracted increasing research attention due to their widespread applications. In this paper, we aim to learn a general human representation from massive unlabeled human images which can benefit downstream human-centric tasks to the maximum extent. We call this method SOLIDER, a Semantic cOntrollable seLf-supervIseD lEaRning framework. Unlike the existing self-supervised learning methods, prior knowledge from human images is utilized in SOLIDER to build pseudo semantic labels and import more semantic information into the learned representation. Meanwhile, we note that different downstream tasks always require different ratios of semantic information and appearance information. For example, human parsing requires more semantic information, while person re-identification needs more appearance information for identification purpose. So a single learned representation cannot fit for all requirements. To solve this problem, SOLIDER introduces a conditional network with a semantic controller. After the model is trained, users can send values to the controller to produce representations with different ratios of semantic information, which can fit different needs of downstream tasks. Finally, SOLIDER is verified on six downstream human-centric visual tasks. It outperforms state of the arts and builds new baselines for these tasks. Region Generation and Assessment Network for Occluded Person Re-IdentificationShuting He, Weihua Chen, Kai Wang et al. · stanford
Person Re-identification (ReID) plays a more and more crucial role in recent years with a wide range of applications. Existing ReID methods are suffering from the challenges of misalignment and occlusions, which degrade the performance dramatically. Most methods tackle such challenges by utilizing external tools to locate body parts or exploiting matching strategies. Nevertheless, the inevitable domain gap between the datasets utilized for external tools and the ReID datasets and the complicated matching process make these methods unreliable and sensitive to noises. In this paper, we propose a Region Generation and Assessment Network (RGANet) to effectively and efficiently detect the human body regions and highlight the important regions. In the proposed RGANet, we first devise a Region Generation Module (RGM) which utilizes the pre-trained CLIP to locate the human body regions using semantic prototypes extracted from text descriptions. Learnable prompt is designed to eliminate domain gap between CLIP datasets and ReID datasets. Then, to measure the importance of each generated region, we introduce a Region Assessment Module (RAM) that assigns confidence scores to different regions and reduces the negative impact of the occlusion regions by lower scores. The RAM consists of a discrimination-aware indicator and an invariance-aware indicator, where the former indicates the capability to distinguish from different identities and the latter represents consistency among the images of the same class of human body regions. Extensive experimental results for six widely-used benchmarks including three tasks (occluded, partial, and holistic) demonstrate the superiority of RGANet against state-of-the-art methods.

Reinforcement Learning Friendly Vision-Language Model for MinecraftHaobin Jiang, Junpeng Yue, Hao Luo et al.
One of the essential missions in the AI research community is to build an autonomous embodied agent that can achieve high-level performance across a wide spectrum of tasks. However, acquiring or manually designing rewards for all open-ended tasks is unrealistic. In this paper, we propose a novel cross-modal contrastive learning framework architecture, CLIP4MC, aiming to learn a reinforcement learning (RL) friendly vision-language model (VLM) that serves as an intrinsic reward function for open-ended tasks. Simply utilizing the similarity between the video snippet and the language prompt is not RL-friendly since standard VLMs may only capture the similarity at a coarse level. To achieve RL-friendliness, we incorporate the task completion degree into the VLM training objective, as this information can assist agents in distinguishing the importance between different states. Moreover, we provide neat YouTube datasets based on the large-scale YouTube database provided by MineDojo. Specifically, two rounds of filtering operations guarantee that the dataset covers enough essential information and that the video-text pair is highly correlated. Empirically, we demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better performance on RL tasks compared with baselines. The code and datasets are available at https://github.com/PKU-RL/CLIP4MC.

A Survey on Self-supervised Learning: Algorithms, Applications, and Future TrendsJie Gui, Tuo Chen, Jing Zhang et al.
Deep supervised learning algorithms typically require a large volume of labeled data to achieve satisfactory performance. However, the process of collecting and labeling such data can be expensive and time-consuming. Self-supervised learning (SSL), a subset of unsupervised learning, aims to learn discriminative features from unlabeled data without relying on human-annotated labels. SSL has garnered significant attention recently, leading to the development of numerous related algorithms. However, there is a dearth of comprehensive studies that elucidate the connections and evolution of different SSL variants. This paper presents a review of diverse SSL methods, encompassing algorithmic aspects, application domains, three key trends, and open research questions. Firstly, we provide a detailed introduction to the motivations behind most SSL algorithms and compare their commonalities and differences. Secondly, we explore representative applications of SSL in domains such as image processing, computer vision, and natural language processing. Lastly, we discuss the three primary trends observed in SSL research and highlight the open questions that remain. MSINet: Twins Contrastive Search of Multi-Scale Interaction for Object ReIDJianyang Gu, Kai Wang, Hao Luo et al.
Neural Architecture Search (NAS) has been increasingly appealing to the society of object Re-Identification (ReID), for that task-specific architectures significantly improve the retrieval performance. Previous works explore new optimizing targets and search spaces for NAS ReID, yet they neglect the difference of training schemes between image classification and ReID. In this work, we propose a novel Twins Contrastive Mechanism (TCM) to provide more appropriate supervision for ReID architecture search. TCM reduces the category overlaps between the training and validation data, and assists NAS in simulating real-world ReID training schemes. We then design a Multi-Scale Interaction (MSI) search space to search for rational interaction operations between multi-scale features. In addition, we introduce a Spatial Alignment Module (SAM) to further enhance the attention consistency confronted with images from different sources. Under the proposed NAS scheme, a specific architecture is automatically searched, named as MSINet. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method surpasses state-of-the-art ReID methods on both in-domain and cross-domain scenarios. Source code available in https://github.com/vimar-gu/MSINet.

Revisit Parameter-Efficient Transfer Learning: A Two-Stage ParadigmHengyuan Zhao, Hao Luo, Yuyang Zhao et al. · stanford
Parameter-Efficient Transfer Learning (PETL) aims at efficiently adapting large models pre-trained on massive data to downstream tasks with limited task-specific data. In view of the practicality of PETL, previous works focus on tuning a small set of parameters for each downstream task in an end-to-end manner while rarely considering the task distribution shift issue between the pre-training task and the downstream task. This paper proposes a novel two-stage paradigm, where the pre-trained model is first aligned to the target distribution. Then the task-relevant information is leveraged for effective adaptation. Specifically, the first stage narrows the task distribution shift by tuning the scale and shift in the LayerNorm layers. In the second stage, to efficiently learn the task-relevant information, we propose a Taylor expansion-based importance score to identify task-relevant channels for the downstream task and then only tune such a small portion of channels, making the adaptation to be parameter-efficient. Overall, we present a promising new direction for PETL, and the proposed paradigm achieves state-of-the-art performance on the average accuracy of 19 downstream tasks.

Dual-view Curricular Optimal Transport for Cross-lingual Cross-modal RetrievalYabing Wang, Shuhui Wang, Hao Luo et al. · stanford
Current research on cross-modal retrieval is mostly English-oriented, as the availability of a large number of English-oriented human-labeled vision-language corpora. In order to break the limit of non-English labeled data, cross-lingual cross-modal retrieval (CCR) has attracted increasing attention. Most CCR methods construct pseudo-parallel vision-language corpora via Machine Translation (MT) to achieve cross-lingual transfer. However, the translated sentences from MT are generally imperfect in describing the corresponding visual contents. Improperly assuming the pseudo-parallel data are correctly correlated will make the networks overfit to the noisy correspondence. Therefore, we propose Dual-view Curricular Optimal Transport (DCOT) to learn with noisy correspondence in CCR. In particular, we quantify the confidence of the sample pair correlation with optimal transport theory from both the cross-lingual and cross-modal views, and design dual-view curriculum learning to dynamically model the transportation costs according to the learning stage of the two views. Extensive experiments are conducted on two multilingual image-text datasets and one video-text dataset, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method. Besides, our proposed method also shows a good expansibility to cross-lingual image-text baselines and a decent generalization on out-of-domain data.

Color Prompting for Data-Free Continual Unsupervised Domain Adaptive Person Re-IdentificationJianyang Gu, Hao Luo, Kai Wang et al.
Unsupervised domain adaptive person re-identification (Re-ID) methods alleviate the burden of data annotation through generating pseudo supervision messages. However, real-world Re-ID systems, with continuously accumulating data streams, simultaneously demand more robust adaptation and anti-forgetting capabilities. Methods based on image rehearsal addresses the forgetting issue with limited extra storage but carry the risk of privacy leakage. In this work, we propose a Color Prompting (CoP) method for data-free continual unsupervised domain adaptive person Re-ID. Specifically, we employ a light-weighted prompter network to fit the color distribution of the current task together with Re-ID training. Then for the incoming new tasks, the learned color distribution serves as color style transfer guidance to transfer the images into past styles. CoP achieves accurate color style recovery for past tasks with adequate data diversity, leading to superior anti-forgetting effects compared with image rehearsal methods. Moreover, CoP demonstrates strong generalization performance for fast adaptation into new domains, given only a small amount of unlabeled images. Extensive experiments demonstrate that after the continual training pipeline the proposed CoP achieves 6.7% and 8.1% average rank-1 improvements over the replay method on seen and unseen domains, respectively. RCNet: Deep Recurrent Collaborative Network for Multi-View Low-Light Image EnhancementHao Luo, Baoliang Chen, Lingyu Zhu et al.
Scene observation from multiple perspectives would bring a more comprehensive visual experience. However, in the context of acquiring multiple views in the dark, the highly correlated views are seriously alienated, making it challenging to improve scene understanding with auxiliary views. Recent single image-based enhancement methods may not be able to provide consistently desirable restoration performance for all views due to the ignorance of potential feature correspondence among different views. To alleviate this issue, we make the first attempt to investigate multi-view low-light image enhancement. First, we construct a new dataset called Multi-View Low-light Triplets (MVLT), including 1,860 pairs of triple images with large illumination ranges and wide noise distribution. Each triplet is equipped with three different viewpoints towards the same scene. Second, we propose a deep multi-view enhancement framework based on the Recurrent Collaborative Network (RCNet). Specifically, in order to benefit from similar texture correspondence across different views, we design the recurrent feature enhancement, alignment and fusion (ReEAF) module, in which intra-view feature enhancement (Intra-view EN) followed by inter-view feature alignment and fusion (Inter-view AF) is performed to model the intra-view and inter-view feature propagation sequentially via multi-view collaboration. In addition, two different modules from enhancement to alignment (E2A) and from alignment to enhancement (A2E) are developed to enable the interactions between Intra-view EN and Inter-view AF, which explicitly utilize attentive feature weighting and sampling for enhancement and alignment, respectively. MieDB-100k: A Comprehensive Dataset for Medical Image EditingYongfan Lai, Wen Qian, Bo Liu et al.
The scarcity of high-quality data remains a primary bottleneck in adapting multimodal generative models for medical image editing. Existing medical image editing datasets often suffer from limited diversity, neglect of medical image understanding and inability to balance quality with scalability. To address these gaps, we propose MieDB-100k, a large-scale, high-quality and diverse dataset for text-guided medical image editing. It categorizes editing tasks into perspectives of Perception, Modification and Transformation, considering both understanding and generation abilities. We construct MieDB-100k via a data curation pipeline leveraging both modality-specific expert models and rule-based data synthetic methods, followed by rigorous manual inspection to ensure clinical fidelity. Extensive experiments demonstrate that model trained with MieDB-100k consistently outperform both open-source and proprietary models while exhibiting strong generalization ability. We anticipate that this dataset will serve as a cornerstone for future advancements in specialized medical image editing.

Transformer has been considered the dominating neural architecture in NLP and CV, mostly under supervised settings. Recently, a similar surge of using Transformers has appeared in the domain of reinforcement learning (RL), but it is faced with unique design choices and challenges brought by the nature of RL. However, the evolution of Transformers in RL has not yet been well unraveled. In this paper, we seek to systematically review motivations and progress on using Transformers in RL, provide a taxonomy on existing works, discuss each sub-field, and summarize future prospects.

Astra: a generalizable report generation foundation model for 3D computed tomographyZhuhao Wang, Fang Chen, Chaohui Yu et al.
CT interpretation requires radiologists to review hundreds of volumetric slices per examination, making reporting time-consuming and highly expertise-dependent. Automated CT report generation offers a promising route to improving clinical efficiency, yet the field still lacks a generalizable CT report generation foundation model that supports multi-region reporting and remains robust across external real-world cohorts. Intrinsic inconsistencies in reporting style and diagnostic terminology across cohorts make naive joint training prone to noisy textual supervision, thereby limiting model generalizability. Here we present Astra, a generalizable CT report generation foundation model trained on 90,678 thoracoabdominal CT-report pairs (CTRgDB) with 353,671 abnormalities spanning eight organ systems. By harmonizing report style and further refining diagnostic consistency via reinforcement learning, Astra achieves style-consistent and diagnostically accurate report generation across diverse anatomical regions and institutions. Evaluating on CTRgDB and six external cohorts, Astra achieves state-of-the-art performance with a 44.1% average improvement in fine-grained diagnostic metrics (P<0.001). In real-world clinical workflows, Astra assistance accelerates chest report drafting by 29.6% and improves abdominal report completeness by 11.3% (P<0.001). Furthermore, Astra also demonstrates broad utility as a foundation for CT AI development, improving downstream diagnostic performance and scaling vision-language pretrain through high-quality report synthesis. Overall, Astra serves as a broadly accessible clinical assistant and a pivotal infrastructure for the next generation of AI-powered healthcare.

VGSG: Vision-Guided Semantic-Group Network for Text-based Person SearchShuting He, Hao Luo, Wei Jiang et al.
Text-based Person Search (TBPS) aims to retrieve images of target pedestrian indicated by textual descriptions. It is essential for TBPS to extract fine-grained local features and align them crossing modality. Existing methods utilize external tools or heavy cross-modal interaction to achieve explicit alignment of cross-modal fine-grained features, which is inefficient and time-consuming. In this work, we propose a Vision-Guided Semantic-Group Network (VGSG) for text-based person search to extract well-aligned fine-grained visual and textual features. In the proposed VGSG, we develop a Semantic-Group Textual Learning (SGTL) module and a Vision-guided Knowledge Transfer (VGKT) module to extract textual local features under the guidance of visual local clues. In SGTL, in order to obtain the local textual representation, we group textual features from the channel dimension based on the semantic cues of language expression, which encourages similar semantic patterns to be grouped implicitly without external tools. In VGKT, a vision-guided attention is employed to extract visual-related textual features, which are inherently aligned with visual cues and termed vision-guided textual features. Furthermore, we design a relational knowledge transfer, including a vision-language similarity transfer and a class probability transfer, to adaptively propagate information of the vision-guided textual features to semantic-group textual features. With the help of relational knowledge transfer, VGKT is capable of aligning semantic-group textual features with corresponding visual features without external tools and complex pairwise interaction. Experimental results on two challenging benchmarks demonstrate its superiority over state-of-the-art methods.

Revisiting Vision Transformer from the View of Path EnsembleShuning Chang, Pichao Wang, Hao Luo et al.
Vision Transformers (ViTs) are normally regarded as a stack of transformer layers. In this work, we propose a novel view of ViTs showing that they can be seen as ensemble networks containing multiple parallel paths with different lengths. Specifically, we equivalently transform the traditional cascade of multi-head self-attention (MSA) and feed-forward network (FFN) into three parallel paths in each transformer layer. Then, we utilize the identity connection in our new transformer form and further transform the ViT into an explicit multi-path ensemble network. From the new perspective, these paths perform two functions: the first is to provide the feature for the classifier directly, and the second is to provide the lower-level feature representation for subsequent longer paths. We investigate the influence of each path for the final prediction and discover that some paths even pull down the performance. Therefore, we propose the path pruning and EnsembleScale skills for improvement, which cut out the underperforming paths and re-weight the ensemble components, respectively, to optimize the path combination and make the short paths focus on providing high-quality representation for subsequent paths. We also demonstrate that our path combination strategies can help ViTs go deeper and act as high-pass filters to filter out partial low-frequency signals. To further enhance the representation of paths served for subsequent paths, self-distillation is applied to transfer knowledge from the long paths to the short paths. This work calls for more future research to explain and design ViTs from new perspectives.

Exploring the Coordination of Frequency and Attention in Masked Image ModelingJie Gui, Tuo Chen, Minjing Dong et al.
Recently, masked image modeling (MIM), which learns visual representations by reconstructing the masked patches of an image, has dominated self-supervised learning in computer vision. However, the pre-training of MIM always takes massive time due to the large-scale data and large-size backbones. We mainly attribute it to the random patch masking in previous MIM works, which fails to leverage the crucial semantic information for effective visual representation learning. To tackle this issue, we propose the Frequency \& Attention-driven Masking and Throwing Strategy (FAMT), which can extract semantic patches and reduce the number of training patches to boost model performance and training efficiency simultaneously. Specifically, FAMT utilizes the self-attention mechanism to extract semantic information from the image for masking during training in an unsupervised manner. However, attention alone could sometimes focus on inappropriate areas regarding the semantic information. Thus, we are motivated to incorporate the information from the frequency domain into the self-attention mechanism to derive the sampling weights for masking, which captures semantic patches for visual representation learning. Furthermore, we introduce a patch throwing strategy based on the derived sampling weights to reduce the training cost. FAMT can be seamlessly integrated as a plug-and-play module and surpasses previous works, \emph{e.g.} reducing the training phase time by nearly $50\%$ and improving the linear probing accuracy of MAE by $1.3\% \sim 3.9\%$ across various datasets, including CIFAR-10/100, Tiny ImageNet, and ImageNet-1K. FAMT also demonstrates superior performance in downstream detection and segmentation tasks.

Enhancing LLM-based Search Agents via Contribution Weighted Group Relative Policy OptimizationJunzhe Wang, Zhiheng Xi, Yajie Yang et al.
Search agents extend Large Language Models (LLMs) beyond static parametric knowledge by enabling access to up-to-date and long-tail information unavailable during pretraining. While reinforcement learning has been widely adopted for training such agents, existing approaches face key limitations: process supervision often suffers from unstable value estimation, whereas outcome supervision struggles with credit assignment due to sparse, trajectory-level rewards. To bridge this gap, we propose Contribution-Weighted GRPO (CW-GRPO), a framework that integrates process supervision into group relative policy optimization. Instead of directly optimizing process rewards, CW-GRPO employs an LLM judge to assess the retrieval utility and reasoning correctness at each search round, producing per-round contribution scores. These scores are used to rescale outcome-based advantages along the trajectory, enabling fine-grained credit assignment without sacrificing optimization stability. Experiments on multiple knowledge-intensive benchmarks show that CW-GRPO outperforms standard GRPO by 5.0% on Qwen3-8B and 6.3% on Qwen3-1.7B, leading to more effective search behaviors. Additional analysis reveals that successful trajectories exhibit concentrated contributions in specific rounds, providing empirical insight into search agent tasks.

OpenT2M: No-frill Motion Generation with Open-source,Large-scale, High-quality DataBin Cao, Sipeng Zheng, Hao Luo et al.
Text-to-motion (T2M) generation aims to create realistic human movements from text descriptions, with promising applications in animation and robotics. Despite recent progress, current T2M models perform poorly on unseen text descriptions due to the small scale and limited diversity of existing motion datasets. To address this problem, we introduce OpenT2M, a million-level, high-quality, and open-source motion dataset containing over 2800 hours of human motion. Each sequence undergoes rigorous quality control through physical feasibility validation and multi-granularity filtering, with detailed second-wise text annotations. We also develop an automated pipeline for creating long-horizon sequences, enabling complex motion generation. Building upon OpenT2M, we introduce MonoFrill, a pretrained motion model that achieves compelling T2M results without complicated designs or technique tricks as "frills". Its core component is 2D-PRQ, a novel motion tokenizer that captures spatiotemporal dependencies by dividing the human body into biology parts. Experiments show that OpenT2M significantly improves generalization of existing T2M models, while 2D-PRQ achieves superior reconstruction and strong zero-shot performance. We expect OpenT2M and MonoFrill will advance the T2M field by addressing longstanding data quality and benchmarking challenges.

This paper establishes the convergence of a time-steeping scheme for time fractional diffusion problems with nonsmooth data. We first analyze the regularity of the model problem with nonsmooth data, and then prove that the time-steeping scheme possesses optimal convergence rates in $ L^2(0,T;L^2(Ω)) $-norm and $ L^2(0,T;H_0^1(Ω)) $-norm with respect to the regularity of the solution. MimCo: Masked Image Modeling Pre-training with Contrastive TeacherQiang Zhou, Chaohui Yu, Hao Luo et al.
Recent masked image modeling (MIM) has received much attention in self-supervised learning (SSL), which requires the target model to recover the masked part of the input image. Although MIM-based pre-training methods achieve new state-of-the-art performance when transferred to many downstream tasks, the visualizations show that the learned representations are less separable, especially compared to those based on contrastive learning pre-training. This inspires us to think whether the linear separability of MIM pre-trained representation can be further improved, thereby improving the pre-training performance. Since MIM and contrastive learning tend to utilize different data augmentations and training strategies, combining these two pretext tasks is not trivial. In this work, we propose a novel and flexible pre-training framework, named MimCo, which combines MIM and contrastive learning through two-stage pre-training. Specifically, MimCo takes a pre-trained contrastive learning model as the teacher model and is pre-trained with two types of learning targets: patch-level and image-level reconstruction losses. Extensive transfer experiments on downstream tasks demonstrate the superior performance of our MimCo pre-training framework. Taking ViT-S as an example, when using the pre-trained MoCov3-ViT-S as the teacher model, MimCo only needs 100 epochs of pre-training to achieve 82.53% top-1 finetuning accuracy on Imagenet-1K, which outperforms the state-of-the-art self-supervised learning counterparts.

This paper analyzes a space-time finite element method for fractional wave problems. The method uses a Petrov-Galerkin type time-stepping scheme to discretize the time fractional derivative of order $ γ$ ($1<γ<2$). We establish the stability of this method, and derive the optimal convergence in the $ H^1(0,T;L^2(Ω)) $-norm and suboptimal convergence in the discrete $ L^\infty(0,T;H_0^1(Ω)) $-norm. Furthermore, we discuss the performance of this method in the case that the solution has singularity at $ t= 0 $, and show that optimal convergence rate with respect to the $ H^1(0,T;L^2(Ω)) $-norm can still be achieved by using graded grids in the time discretization. Finally, numerical experiments are performed to verify the theoretical results.

Fisheye-GS: Lightweight and Extensible Gaussian Splatting Module for Fisheye CamerasZimu Liao, Siyan Chen, Rong Fu et al.
Recently, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has garnered attention for its high fidelity and real-time rendering. However, adapting 3DGS to different camera models, particularly fisheye lenses, poses challenges due to the unique 3D to 2D projection calculation. Additionally, there are inefficiencies in the tile-based splatting, especially for the extreme curvature and wide field of view of fisheye lenses, which are crucial for its broader real-life applications. To tackle these challenges, we introduce Fisheye-GS.This innovative method recalculates the projection transformation and its gradients for fisheye cameras. Our approach can be seamlessly integrated as a module into other efficient 3D rendering methods, emphasizing its extensibility, lightweight nature, and modular design. Since we only modified the projection component, it can also be easily adapted for use with different camera models. Compared to methods that train after undistortion, our approach demonstrates a clear improvement in visual quality.

Model-Based Decentralized Policy OptimizationHao Luo, Jiechuan Jiang, Zongqing Lu
Decentralized policy optimization has been commonly used in cooperative multi-agent tasks. However, since all agents are updating their policies simultaneously, from the perspective of individual agents, the environment is non-stationary, resulting in it being hard to guarantee monotonic policy improvement. To help the policy improvement be stable and monotonic, we propose model-based decentralized policy optimization (MDPO), which incorporates a latent variable function to help construct the transition and reward function from an individual perspective. We theoretically analyze that the policy optimization of MDPO is more stable than model-free decentralized policy optimization. Moreover, due to non-stationarity, the latent variable function is varying and hard to be modeled. We further propose a latent variable prediction method to reduce the error of the latent variable function, which theoretically contributes to the monotonic policy improvement. Empirically, MDPO can indeed obtain superior performance than model-free decentralized policy optimization in a variety of cooperative multi-agent tasks.

Dynamic Gradient Reactivation for Backward Compatible Person Re-identificationXiao Pan, Hao Luo, Weihua Chen et al.
We study the backward compatible problem for person re-identification (Re-ID), which aims to constrain the features of an updated new model to be comparable with the existing features from the old model in galleries. Most of the existing works adopt distillation-based methods, which focus on pushing new features to imitate the distribution of the old ones. However, the distillation-based methods are intrinsically sub-optimal since it forces the new feature space to imitate the inferior old feature space. To address this issue, we propose the Ranking-based Backward Compatible Learning (RBCL), which directly optimizes the ranking metric between new features and old features. Different from previous methods, RBCL only pushes the new features to find best-ranking positions in the old feature space instead of strictly alignment, and is in line with the ultimate goal of backward retrieval. However, the sharp sigmoid function used to make the ranking metric differentiable also incurs the gradient vanish issue, therefore stems the ranking refinement during the later period of training. To address this issue, we propose the Dynamic Gradient Reactivation (DGR), which can reactivate the suppressed gradients by adding dynamic computed constant during forward step. To further help targeting the best-ranking positions, we include the Neighbor Context Agents (NCAs) to approximate the entire old feature space during training. Unlike previous works which only test on the in-domain settings, we make the first attempt to introduce the cross-domain settings (including both supervised and unsupervised), which are more meaningful and difficult. The experimental results on all five settings show that the proposed RBCL outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods by large margins under all settings.

Accurate and lightweight dehazing via multi-receptive-field non-local network and novel contrastive regularizationZewei He, Zixuan Chen, Jinlei Li et al.
Recently, deep learning-based methods have dominated image dehazing domain. A multi-receptive-field non-local network (MRFNLN) consisting of the multi-stream feature attention block (MSFAB) and the cross non-local block (CNLB) is presented in this paper to further enhance the performance. We start with extracting richer features for dehazing. Specifically, a multi-stream feature extraction (MSFE) sub-block, which contains three parallel convolutions with different receptive fields (i.e., $1\times 1$, $3\times 3$, $5\times 5$), is designed for extracting multi-scale features. Following MSFE, an attention sub-block is employed to make the model adaptively focus on important channels/regions. These two sub-blocks constitute our MSFAB. Then, we design a cross non-local block (CNLB), which can capture long-range dependencies beyond the query. Instead of the same input source of query branch, the key and value branches are enhanced by fusing more preceding features. CNLB is computation-friendly by leveraging a spatial pyramid down-sampling (SPDS) strategy to reduce the computation and memory consumption without sacrificing the performance. Last but not least, a novel detail-focused contrastive regularization (DFCR) is presented by emphasizing the low-level details and ignoring the high-level semantic information in a representation space specially designed for dehazing. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MRFNLN model outperforms recent state-of-the-art dehazing methods with less than 1.5 Million parameters.

Unmasking the Illusion of Embodied Reasoning in Vision-Language-Action ModelsHaiweng Xu, Sipeng Zheng, Hao Luo et al.
Recent Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models report impressive success rates on standard robotic benchmarks, fueling optimism about general-purpose physical intelligence. However, recent evidence suggests a systematic misalignment between standard benchmark success and true embodied reasoning, raising the question of whether these high scores reflect genuine cognitive capability. To address this gap, we introduce BeTTER, a diagnostic Benchmark for Testing True Embodied Reasoning in robotic policies. BeTTER applies targeted causal interventions (e.g., spatial layout shifts, temporal extrapolation) while enforcing kinematic isolation to explicitly decouple high-level reasoning failures from low-level execution limits. Through systematic evaluation, we reveal that state-of-the-art VLAs catastrophically fail in dynamic scenarios, exhibiting severe lexical-kinematic shortcuts, behavioral inertia, and semantic feature collapse. Crucially, our mechanistic analysis traces these symptoms to fundamental architectural bottlenecks - such as capacity compression and myopic downsampling - which systematically degrade the model's foundational semantic representation. We demonstrate that highly static evaluation protocols effectively mask this degradation by allowing optimization to overfit to sensorimotor priors. Supported by real-world robotic validation, our findings confirm that this representational breakdown is not a simulation artifact, highlighting the critical need for future VLA paradigms to resolve the structural tension between high-frequency control and high-level reasoning.

ISAC with Backscattering RFID Tags: Beamforming and Codebook DesignHao Luo, Umut Demirhan, Ahmed Alkhateeb
This paper explores an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system with backscattering RFID tags. In this setup, an access point employs communication beams to serve communication users while leveraging a sensing beam to interrogate RFID tags. Under the total transmit power constraint of the system, our objective is to design a joint sensing and communication beamforming codebook by considering the tag interrogation and communication requirements. To lay a foundation for the codebook design problem, we first study the beamforming design problem in a single-tag scenario and investigate two approaches: (i) a zero-forcing approach with optimized sensing/communication power allocation, for which a closed-form solution is derived under a dominant sensitivity condition, and (ii) a joint sensing and communication beamforming design obtained by transmit power minimization. Then, we investigate the codebook design problem in a multi-tag scenario. To resolve this, we propose a sector-based joint sensing and communication beamforming codebook that scans the region of interest. For each sector, semidefinite relaxation and generalized Benders decomposition are employed to handle the resulting optimization. The simulation results show that the proposed joint beamforming designs can effectively mitigate the mutual interference between sensing and communication functionalities, thus enhancing the interrogation range of the tags with minimized transmit power. Also, the efficacy of the proposed sector-based codebook design has been demonstrated in terms of interrogation success rate, offering a promising approach for the ISAC-backscattering systems.

Accelerating Parallel Sampling of Diffusion ModelsZhiwei Tang, Jiasheng Tang, Hao Luo et al.
Diffusion models have emerged as state-of-the-art generative models for image generation. However, sampling from diffusion models is usually time-consuming due to the inherent autoregressive nature of their sampling process. In this work, we propose a novel approach that accelerates the sampling of diffusion models by parallelizing the autoregressive process. Specifically, we reformulate the sampling process as solving a system of triangular nonlinear equations through fixed-point iteration. With this innovative formulation, we explore several systematic techniques to further reduce the iteration steps required by the solving process. Applying these techniques, we introduce ParaTAA, a universal and training-free parallel sampling algorithm that can leverage extra computational and memory resources to increase the sampling speed. Our experiments demonstrate that ParaTAA can decrease the inference steps required by common sequential sampling algorithms such as DDIM and DDPM by a factor of 4$\sim$14 times. Notably, when applying ParaTAA with 100 steps DDIM for Stable Diffusion, a widely-used text-to-image diffusion model, it can produce the same images as the sequential sampling in only 7 inference steps. This paper analyzes a time-stepping discontinuous Galerkin method for modified anomalous subdiffusion problems with two time fractional derivatives of orders $ α$ and $ β$ ($ 0 < α< β< 1 $). The stability of this method is established, the temporal accuracy of $ O(τ^{m+1-β/2}) $ is derived, where $m$ denotes the degree of polynomials for the temporal discretization. It is shown that, even the solution has singularity near $ t = {0+} $, this temporal accuracy can still be achieved by using the graded temporal grids. Numerical experiments are performed to verify the theoretical results.

Deep Learning Enables Large Depth-of-Field Images for Sub-Diffraction-Limit Scanning Superlens MicroscopyHui Sun, Hao Luo, Feifei Wang et al.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is indispensable in diverse applications ranging from microelectronics to food processing because it provides large depth-of-field images with a resolution beyond the optical diffraction limit. However, the technology requires coating conductive films on insulator samples and a vacuum environment. We use deep learning to obtain the mapping relationship between optical super-resolution (OSR) images and SEM domain images, which enables the transformation of OSR images into SEM-like large depth-of-field images. Our custom-built scanning superlens microscopy (SSUM) system, which requires neither coating samples by conductive films nor a vacuum environment, is used to acquire the OSR images with features down to ~80 nm. The peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index measure values indicate that the deep learning method performs excellently in image-to-image translation, with a PSNR improvement of about 0.74 dB over the optical super-resolution images. The proposed method provides a high level of detail in the reconstructed results, indicating that it has broad applicability to chip-level defect detection, biological sample analysis, forensics, and various other fields.

Conservative Offline Robot Policy Learning via Posterior-Transition ReweightingWanpeng Zhang, Hao Luo, Sipeng Zheng et al.
Offline post-training adapts a pretrained robot policy to a target dataset by supervised regression on recorded actions. In practice, robot datasets are heterogeneous: they mix embodiments, camera setups, and demonstrations of varying quality, so many trajectories reflect recovery behavior, inconsistent operator skill, or weakly informative supervision. Uniform post-training gives equal credit to all samples and can therefore average over conflicting or low-attribution data. We propose Posterior-Transition Reweighting (PTR), a reward-free and conservative post-training method that decides how much each training sample should influence the supervised update. For each sample, PTR encodes the observed post-action consequence as a latent target, inserts it into a candidate pool of mismatched targets, and uses a separate transition scorer to estimate a softmax identification posterior over target indices. The posterior-to-uniform ratio defines the PTR score, which is converted into a clipped-and-mixed weight and applied to the original action objective through self-normalized weighted regression. This construction requires no tractable policy likelihood and is compatible with both diffusion and flow-matching action heads. Rather than uniformly trusting all recorded supervision, PTR reallocates credit according to how attributable each sample's post-action consequence is under the current representation, improving conservative offline adaptation to heterogeneous robot data.

Mistake Notebook Learning: Batch-Clustered Failures for Training-Free Agent AdaptationXuanbo Su, Yingfang Zhang, Hao Luo et al.
With the growing adoption of Large Language Model (LLM) agents in persistent, real-world roles, they naturally encounter continuous streams of tasks and inevitable failures. A key limitation, however, is their inability to systematically learn from these mistakes, forcing them to repeat identical errors in similar contexts. Unlike prior training-free methods that primarily store raw instance-level experience or focus on retrieving successful trajectories, we propose Mistake Notebook Learning (MNL), a novel memory framework that enables agents to self-curate generalizable guidance from batch-clustered failures. This mechanism allows agents to distill shared error patterns into structured "mistake notes," updating an external memory only when batch performance improves to ensure stability. To further amplify adaptability, we integrate MNL with test-time scaling, leveraging aggregated failure patterns to actively steer the search process away from known pitfalls. Experiments on mathematical reasoning, Text-to-SQL, and interactive agent benchmarks show that MNL achieves competitive performance compared to existing memory mechanisms and in-context methods in both effectiveness and efficiency. These findings position structured mistake abstraction as a critical lever for robust agent evolution, enabling continuous improvement without the cost of parameter updates. Lumos-1: On Autoregressive Video Generation from a Unified Model PerspectiveHangjie Yuan, Weihua Chen, Jun Cen et al.
Autoregressive large language models (LLMs) have unified a vast range of language tasks, inspiring preliminary efforts in autoregressive video generation. Existing autoregressive video generators either diverge from standard LLM architectures, depend on bulky external text encoders, or incur prohibitive latency due to next-token decoding. In this paper, we introduce Lumos-1, an autoregressive video generator that retains the LLM architecture with minimal architectural modifications. To inject spatiotemporal correlations in LLMs, we identify the efficacy of incorporating 3D RoPE and diagnose its imbalanced frequency spectrum ranges. Therefore, we propose MM-RoPE, a RoPE scheme that preserves the original textual RoPE while providing comprehensive frequency spectra and scaled 3D positions for modeling multimodal spatiotemporal data. Moreover, Lumos-1 resorts to a token dependency strategy that obeys intra-frame bidirectionality and inter-frame temporal causality. Based on this dependency strategy, we identify the issue of frame-wise loss imbalance caused by spatial information redundancy and solve it by proposing Autoregressive Discrete Diffusion Forcing (AR-DF). AR-DF introduces temporal tube masking during training with a compatible inference-time masking policy to avoid quality degradation. By using memory-efficient training techniques, we pre-train Lumos-1 on only 48 GPUs, achieving performance comparable to EMU3 on GenEval, COSMOS-Video2World on VBench-I2V, and OpenSoraPlan on VBench-T2V. AnyI2V: Animating Any Conditional Image with Motion ControlZiye Li, Hao Luo, Xincheng Shuai et al.
Recent advancements in video generation, particularly in diffusion models, have driven notable progress in text-to-video (T2V) and image-to-video (I2V) synthesis. However, challenges remain in effectively integrating dynamic motion signals and flexible spatial constraints. Existing T2V methods typically rely on text prompts, which inherently lack precise control over the spatial layout of generated content. In contrast, I2V methods are limited by their dependence on real images, which restricts the editability of the synthesized content. Although some methods incorporate ControlNet to introduce image-based conditioning, they often lack explicit motion control and require computationally expensive training. To address these limitations, we propose AnyI2V, a training-free framework that animates any conditional images with user-defined motion trajectories. AnyI2V supports a broader range of modalities as the conditional image, including data types such as meshes and point clouds that are not supported by ControlNet, enabling more flexible and versatile video generation. Additionally, it supports mixed conditional inputs and enables style transfer and editing via LoRA and text prompts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed AnyI2V achieves superior performance and provides a new perspective in spatial- and motion-controlled video generation. AnyLogo: Symbiotic Subject-Driven Diffusion System with Gemini StatusJinghao Zhang, Wen Qian, Hao Luo et al.
Diffusion models have made compelling progress on facilitating high-throughput daily production. Nevertheless, the appealing customized requirements are remain suffered from instance-level finetuning for authentic fidelity. Prior zero-shot customization works achieve the semantic consistence through the condensed injection of identity features, while addressing detailed low-level signatures through complex model configurations and subject-specific fabrications, which significantly break the statistical coherence within the overall system and limit the applicability across various scenarios. To facilitate the generic signature concentration with rectified efficiency, we present \textbf{AnyLogo}, a zero-shot region customizer with remarkable detail consistency, building upon the symbiotic diffusion system with eliminated cumbersome designs. Streamlined as vanilla image generation, we discern that the rigorous signature extraction and creative content generation are promisingly compatible and can be systematically recycled within a single denoising model. In place of the external configurations, the gemini status of the denoising model promote the reinforced subject transmission efficiency and disentangled semantic-signature space with continuous signature decoration. Moreover, the sparse recycling paradigm is adopted to prevent the duplicated risk with compressed transmission quota for diversified signature stimulation. Extensive experiments on constructed logo-level benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness and practicability of our methods.

Preacher: Paper-to-Video Agentic SystemJingwei Liu, Ling Yang, Hao Luo et al.
The paper-to-video task converts a research paper into a structured video abstract, distilling key concepts, methods, and conclusions into an accessible, well-organized format. While state-of-the-art video generation models demonstrate potential, they are constrained by limited context windows, rigid video duration constraints, limited stylistic diversity, and an inability to represent domain-specific knowledge. To address these limitations, we introduce Preacher, the first paper-to-video agentic system. Preacher employs a topdown approach to decompose, summarize, and reformulate the paper, followed by bottom-up video generation, synthesizing diverse video segments into a coherent abstract. To align cross-modal representations, we define key scenes and introduce a Progressive Chain of Thought (P-CoT) for granular, iterative planning. Preacher successfully generates high-quality video abstracts across five research fields, demonstrating expertise beyond current video generation models. Wireless Digital Twin Calibration: Refining DFT-Domain Channel InformationHao Luo, Saeed R. Khosravirad, Ahmed Alkhateeb
Wireless digital twins can be leveraged to provide site-specific synthetic channel information through precise physical modeling and signal propagation simulations. This can help reduce the overhead of channel state information (CSI) acquisition, particularly needed for large-scale MIMO systems. For high-quality digital twin channels, the classical approach is to increase the digital twin fidelity via more accurate modeling of the environment, propagation, and hardware. This, however, comes with high computational cost, making it unsuitable for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a new framework that, instead of calibrating the digital twin model itself, calibrates the DFT-domain channel information to reduce the gap between the low-fidelity digital twin and its high-fidelity counterpart or the real world. This allows systems to leverage a low-complexity digital twin for generating real-time channel information without compromising quality. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, we adopt codebook-based CSI feedback as a case study, where refined synthetic channel information is used to identify the most relevant DFT codewords for each user. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed digital twin calibration approach in achieving high CSI acquisition accuracy while reducing the computational overhead of the digital twin. This paves the way for realizing digital twin assisted wireless systems.

Lumine: An Open Recipe for Building Generalist Agents in 3D Open WorldsWeihao Tan, Xiangyang Li, Yunhao Fang et al.
We introduce Lumine, the first open recipe for developing generalist agents capable of completing hours-long complex missions in real time within challenging 3D open-world environments. Lumine adopts a human-like interaction paradigm that unifies perception, reasoning, and action in an end-to-end manner, powered by a vision-language model. It processes raw pixels at 5 Hz to produce precise 30 Hz keyboard-mouse actions and adaptively invokes reasoning only when necessary. Trained in Genshin Impact, Lumine successfully completes the entire five-hour Mondstadt main storyline on par with human-level efficiency and follows natural language instructions to perform a broad spectrum of tasks in both 3D open-world exploration and 2D GUI manipulation across collection, combat, puzzle-solving, and NPC interaction. In addition to its in-domain performance, Lumine demonstrates strong zero-shot cross-game generalization. Without any fine-tuning, it accomplishes 100-minute missions in Wuthering Waves and the full five-hour first chapter of Honkai: Star Rail. These promising results highlight Lumine's effectiveness across distinct worlds and interaction dynamics, marking a concrete step toward generalist agents in open-ended environments.

Coherent Video Inpainting Using Optical Flow-Guided Efficient DiffusionBohai Gu, Hao Luo, Song Guo et al.
The text-guided video inpainting technique has significantly improved the performance of content generation applications. A recent family for these improvements uses diffusion models, which have become essential for achieving high-quality video inpainting results, yet they still face performance bottlenecks in temporal consistency and computational efficiency. This motivates us to propose a new video inpainting framework using optical Flow-guided Efficient Diffusion (FloED) for higher video coherence. Specifically, FloED employs a dual-branch architecture, where the time-agnostic flow branch restores corrupted flow first, and the multi-scale flow adapters provide motion guidance to the main inpainting branch. Besides, a training-free latent interpolation method is proposed to accelerate the multi-step denoising process using flow warping. With the flow attention cache mechanism, FLoED efficiently reduces the computational cost of incorporating optical flow. Extensive experiments on background restoration and object removal tasks show that FloED outperforms state-of-the-art diffusion-based methods in both quality and efficiency. Self-Supervised Pre-Training for Transformer-Based Person Re-IdentificationHao Luo, Pichao Wang, Yi Xu et al.
Transformer-based supervised pre-training achieves great performance in person re-identification (ReID). However, due to the domain gap between ImageNet and ReID datasets, it usually needs a larger pre-training dataset (e.g. ImageNet-21K) to boost the performance because of the strong data fitting ability of the transformer. To address this challenge, this work targets to mitigate the gap between the pre-training and ReID datasets from the perspective of data and model structure, respectively. We first investigate self-supervised learning (SSL) methods with Vision Transformer (ViT) pretrained on unlabelled person images (the LUPerson dataset), and empirically find it significantly surpasses ImageNet supervised pre-training models on ReID tasks. To further reduce the domain gap and accelerate the pre-training, the Catastrophic Forgetting Score (CFS) is proposed to evaluate the gap between pre-training and fine-tuning data. Based on CFS, a subset is selected via sampling relevant data close to the down-stream ReID data and filtering irrelevant data from the pre-training dataset. For the model structure, a ReID-specific module named IBN-based convolution stem (ICS) is proposed to bridge the domain gap by learning more invariant features. Extensive experiments have been conducted to fine-tune the pre-training models under supervised learning, unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA), and unsupervised learning (USL) settings. We successfully downscale the LUPerson dataset to 50% with no performance degradation. Finally, we achieve state-of-the-art performance on Market-1501 and MSMT17. For example, our ViT-S/16 achieves 91.3%/89.9%/89.6% mAP accuracy on Market1501 for supervised/UDA/USL ReID. Codes and models will be released to https://github.com/michuanhaohao/TransReID-SSL.

An Empirical Study of Vehicle Re-Identification on the AI City ChallengeHao Luo, Weihua Chen, Xianzhe Xu et al.
This paper introduces our solution for the Track2 in AI City Challenge 2021 (AICITY21). The Track2 is a vehicle re-identification (ReID) task with both the real-world data and synthetic data. We mainly focus on four points, i.e. training data, unsupervised domain-adaptive (UDA) training, post-processing, model ensembling in this challenge. (1) Both cropping training data and using synthetic data can help the model learn more discriminative features. (2) Since there is a new scenario in the test set that dose not appear in the training set, UDA methods perform well in the challenge. (3) Post-processing techniques including re-ranking, image-to-track retrieval, inter-camera fusion, etc, significantly improve final performance. (4) We ensemble CNN-based models and transformer-based models which provide different representation diversity. With aforementioned techniques, our method finally achieves 0.7445 mAP score, yielding the first place in the competition. City-Scale Multi-Camera Vehicle Tracking Guided by Crossroad ZonesChong Liu, Yuqi Zhang, Hao Luo et al.
Multi-Target Multi-Camera Tracking has a wide range of applications and is the basis for many advanced inferences and predictions. This paper describes our solution to the Track 3 multi-camera vehicle tracking task in 2021 AI City Challenge (AICITY21). This paper proposes a multi-target multi-camera vehicle tracking framework guided by the crossroad zones. The framework includes: (1) Use mature detection and vehicle re-identification models to extract targets and appearance features. (2) Use modified JDETracker (without detection module) to track single-camera vehicles and generate single-camera tracklets. (3) According to the characteristics of the crossroad, the Tracklet Filter Strategy and the Direction Based Temporal Mask are proposed. (4) Propose Sub-clustering in Adjacent Cameras for multi-camera tracklets matching. Through the above techniques, our method obtained an IDF1 score of 0.8095, ranking first on the leaderboard. 1st Place Solution to VisDA-2020: Bias Elimination for Domain Adaptive Pedestrian Re-identificationJianyang Gu, Hao Luo, Weihua Chen et al.
This paper presents our proposed methods for domain adaptive pedestrian re-identification (Re-ID) task in Visual Domain Adaptation Challenge (VisDA-2020). Considering the large gap between the source domain and target domain, we focused on solving two biases that influenced the performance on domain adaptive pedestrian Re-ID and proposed a two-stage training procedure. At the first stage, a baseline model is trained with images transferred from source domain to target domain and from single camera to multiple camera styles. Then we introduced a domain adaptation framework to train the model on source data and target data simultaneously. Different pseudo label generation strategies are adopted to continuously improve the discriminative ability of the model. Finally, with multiple models ensembled and additional post processing approaches adopted, our methods achieve 76.56% mAP and 84.25% rank-1 on the test set. Multi-Domain Learning and Identity Mining for Vehicle Re-IdentificationShuting He, Hao Luo, Weihua Chen et al.
This paper introduces our solution for the Track2 in AI City Challenge 2020 (AICITY20). The Track2 is a vehicle re-identification (ReID) task with both the real-world data and synthetic data. Our solution is based on a strong baseline with bag of tricks (BoT-BS) proposed in person ReID. At first, we propose a multi-domain learning method to joint the real-world and synthetic data to train the model. Then, we propose the Identity Mining method to automatically generate pseudo labels for a part of the testing data, which is better than the k-means clustering. The tracklet-level re-ranking strategy with weighted features is also used to post-process the results. Finally, with multiple-model ensemble, our method achieves 0.7322 in the mAP score which yields third place in the competition. A Strong Baseline and Batch Normalization Neck for Deep Person Re-identificationHao Luo, Wei Jiang, Youzhi Gu et al.
This study explores a simple but strong baseline for person re-identification (ReID). Person ReID with deep neural networks has progressed and achieved high performance in recent years. However, many state-of-the-art methods design complex network structures and concatenate multi-branch features. In the literature, some effective training tricks briefly appear in several papers or source codes. The present study collects and evaluates these effective training tricks in person ReID. By combining these tricks, the model achieves 94.5% rank-1 and 85.9% mean average precision on Market1501 with only using the global features of ResNet50. The performance surpasses all existing global- and part-based baselines in person ReID. We propose a novel neck structure named as batch normalization neck (BNNeck). BNNeck adds a batch normalization layer after global pooling layer to separate metric and classification losses into two different feature spaces because we observe they are inconsistent in one embedding space. Extended experiments show that BNNeck can boost the baseline, and our baseline can improve the performance of existing state-of-the-art methods. Being-H0.7: A Latent World-Action Model from Egocentric VideosHao Luo, Wanpeng Zhang, Yicheng Feng et al.
Visual-Language-Action models (VLAs) have advanced generalist robot control by mapping multimodal observations and language instructions directly to actions, but sparse action supervision often encourages shortcut mappings rather than representations of dynamics, contact, and task progress. Recent world-action models introduce future prediction through video rollouts, yet pixel-space prediction is a costly and indirect substrate for control, as it may model visual details irrelevant to action generation and introduces substantial training or inference overhead. We present Being-H0.7, a latent world-action model that brings future-aware reasoning into VLA-style policies without generating future frames. Being-H0.7 inserts learnable latent queries between perception and action as a compact reasoning interface, and trains them with a future-informed dual-branch design: a deployable prior branch infers latent states from the current context, while a training-only posterior branch replaces the queries with embeddings from future observations. Jointly aligning the two branches at the latent reasoning space leads the prior branch to reason future-aware, action-useful structure from current observations alone. At inference, Being-H0.7 discards the posterior branch and performs no visual rollout. Experiments across six simulation benchmarks and diverse real-world tasks show that Being-H0.7 achieves state-of-the-art or comparable performance, combining the predictive benefits of world models with the efficiency and deployability of direct VLA policies.

Scheduling LLM Inference with Uncertainty-Aware Output Length PredictionsHaoyu Zheng, Yongqiang Zhang, Fangcheng Fu et al.
To schedule LLM inference, the \textit{shortest job first} (SJF) principle is favorable by prioritizing requests with short output lengths to avoid head-of-line (HOL) blocking. Existing methods usually predict a single output length for each request to facilitate scheduling. We argue that such a \textit{point estimate} does not match the \textit{stochastic} decoding process of LLM inference, where output length is \textit{uncertain} by nature and determined by when the end-of-sequence (EOS) token is sampled. Hence, the output length of each request should be fitted with a distribution rather than a single value. With an in-depth analysis of empirical data and the stochastic decoding process, we observe that output length follows a heavy-tailed distribution and can be fitted with the log-t distribution. On this basis, we propose a simple metric called Tail Inflated Expectation (TIE) to replace the output length in SJF scheduling, which adjusts the expectation of a log-t distribution with its tail probabilities to account for the risk that a request generates long outputs. To evaluate our TIE scheduler, we compare it with three strong baselines, and the results show that TIE reduces the per-token latency by $2.31\times$ for online inference and improves throughput by $1.42\times$ for offline data generation.
