Attention in Attention: Modeling Context Correlation for Efficient Video ClassificationYanbin Hao, Shuo Wang, Pei Cao et al.
Attention mechanisms have significantly boosted the performance of video classification neural networks thanks to the utilization of perspective contexts. However, the current research on video attention generally focuses on adopting a specific aspect of contexts (e.g., channel, spatial/temporal, or global context) to refine the features and neglects their underlying correlation when computing attentions. This leads to incomplete context utilization and hence bears the weakness of limited performance improvement. To tackle the problem, this paper proposes an efficient attention-in-attention (AIA) method for element-wise feature refinement, which investigates the feasibility of inserting the channel context into the spatio-temporal attention learning module, referred to as CinST, and also its reverse variant, referred to as STinC. Specifically, we instantiate the video feature contexts as dynamics aggregated along a specific axis with global average and max pooling operations. The workflow of an AIA module is that the first attention block uses one kind of context information to guide the gating weights calculation of the second attention that targets at the other context. Moreover, all the computational operations in attention units act on the pooled dimension, which results in quite few computational cost increase ($<$0.02\%). To verify our method, we densely integrate it into two classical video network backbones and conduct extensive experiments on several standard video classification benchmarks. High-resolution Iterative Feedback Network for Camouflaged Object DetectionXiaobin Hu, Shuo Wang, Xuebin Qin et al.
Spotting camouflaged objects that are visually assimilated into the background is tricky for both object detection algorithms and humans who are usually confused or cheated by the perfectly intrinsic similarities between the foreground objects and the background surroundings. To tackle this challenge, we aim to extract the high-resolution texture details to avoid the detail degradation that causes blurred vision in edges and boundaries. We introduce a novel HitNet to refine the low-resolution representations by high-resolution features in an iterative feedback manner, essentially a global loop-based connection among the multi-scale resolutions. In addition, an iterative feedback loss is proposed to impose more constraints on each feedback connection. Extensive experiments on four challenging datasets demonstrate that our \ourmodel~breaks the performance bottleneck and achieves significant improvements compared with 29 state-of-the-art methods. To address the data scarcity in camouflaged scenarios, we provide an application example by employing cross-domain learning to extract the features that can reflect the camouflaged object properties and embed the features into salient objects, thereby generating more camouflaged training samples from the diverse salient object datasets The code will be available at https://github.com/HUuxiaobin/HitNet.

The AI City Challenge's seventh edition emphasizes two domains at the intersection of computer vision and artificial intelligence - retail business and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) - that have considerable untapped potential. The 2023 challenge had five tracks, which drew a record-breaking number of participation requests from 508 teams across 46 countries. Track 1 was a brand new track that focused on multi-target multi-camera (MTMC) people tracking, where teams trained and evaluated using both real and highly realistic synthetic data. Track 2 centered around natural-language-based vehicle track retrieval. Track 3 required teams to classify driver actions in naturalistic driving analysis. Track 4 aimed to develop an automated checkout system for retail stores using a single view camera. Track 5, another new addition, tasked teams with detecting violations of the helmet rule for motorcyclists. Two leader boards were released for submissions based on different methods: a public leader board for the contest where external private data wasn't allowed and a general leader board for all results submitted. The participating teams' top performances established strong baselines and even outperformed the state-of-the-art in the proposed challenge tracks.

Stationarity-Aware Retrieval-Augmented Time Series ForecastingShiqiao Zhou, Holger Schöner, Zipeng Wu et al.
Time series forecasting relies on historical patterns, but real-world series often exhibit non-stationarity and regime shifts that challenge fully parametric forecasters. Inspired by Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), recent work augments forecasters by retrieving relevant historical segments and using them as external evidence at inference time. However, due to the intrinsic non-stationarity of real-world time series, a highly similar past segment does not necessarily imply a similar future, rendering similarity-only retrieval brittle and prone to redundancy. We propose Stationarity-Aware Retrieval-Augmented Time Series Forecasting (SARAF), a framework that adaptively balances relevance and diversity in retrieval. SARAF first forms a candidate pool via temporal similarity with time-aligned enhancement, then applies a diversity-aware selection strategy to cover heterogeneous historical regimes, with the diversification strength automatically modulated by dataset-level stationarity. Moreover, SARAF uses stationarity-aware aggregation to fuse the retrieved futures. Extensive experiments on eight real-world datasets show that SARAF achieves competitive forecasting performance and improves average accuracy and robustness over strong baselines, with particularly clear benefits under challenging non-stationary settings. MedCUA-Bench: A Screenshot-Only Benchmark for Clinical Computer-Use AgentsJia Yu, Zilong Wang, Xinyang Jiang et al.
Computer-use agents could automate repetitive screen-based clinical work, but their reliability in medical graphical user interfaces remains largely unvalidated. Existing benchmarks focus on general web or desktop tasks and underrepresent medical software, which requires domain knowledge, exhibits markedly different UI design from mainstream applications, lacks public testing environments, and demands safety validation beyond task completion. We introduce MedCUA-Bench, an interactive benchmark for clinical computer-use agents. It covers 18 clinical scenarios across 10 medical domains, reconstructed from real product manuals and open-source medical systems to capture authentic clinical interfaces while avoiding licensing and privacy constraints. Each task ships with paired intent- and step-level goals to disentangle clinical reasoning from UI execution, and is evaluated by a deterministic checker over task completion and five clinical safety dimensions. Across 23 agents, the best closed-source model reaches 54.2% strict success, while all models remain below 9% on the real OpenEMR. Open-source agents average only 2.5%, with the best reaching 16.2%. MedCUA-Bench exposes the gap between current agents and reliable clinical software use, providing a reproducible testbed for future research.

CamDiff: Camouflage Image Augmentation via Diffusion ModelXue-Jing Luo, Shuo Wang, Zongwei Wu et al.
The burgeoning field of camouflaged object detection (COD) seeks to identify objects that blend into their surroundings. Despite the impressive performance of recent models, we have identified a limitation in their robustness, where existing methods may misclassify salient objects as camouflaged ones, despite these two characteristics being contradictory. This limitation may stem from lacking multi-pattern training images, leading to less saliency robustness. To address this issue, we introduce CamDiff, a novel approach inspired by AI-Generated Content (AIGC) that overcomes the scarcity of multi-pattern training images. Specifically, we leverage the latent diffusion model to synthesize salient objects in camouflaged scenes, while using the zero-shot image classification ability of the Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP) model to prevent synthesis failures and ensure the synthesized object aligns with the input prompt. Consequently, the synthesized image retains its original camouflage label while incorporating salient objects, yielding camouflage samples with richer characteristics. The results of user studies show that the salient objects in the scenes synthesized by our framework attract the user's attention more; thus, such samples pose a greater challenge to the existing COD models. Our approach enables flexible editing and efficient large-scale dataset generation at a low cost. It significantly enhances COD baselines' training and testing phases, emphasizing robustness across diverse domains. Exploring Large Language Models for Communication Games: An Empirical Study on WerewolfYuzhuang Xu, Shuo Wang, Peng Li et al. · ibm-research, tsinghua
Communication games, which we refer to as incomplete information games that heavily depend on natural language communication, hold significant research value in fields such as economics, social science, and artificial intelligence. In this work, we explore the problem of how to engage large language models (LLMs) in communication games, and in response, propose a tuning-free framework. Our approach keeps LLMs frozen, and relies on the retrieval and reflection on past communications and experiences for improvement. An empirical study on the representative and widely-studied communication game, ``Werewolf'', demonstrates that our framework can effectively play Werewolf game without tuning the parameters of the LLMs. More importantly, strategic behaviors begin to emerge in our experiments, suggesting that it will be a fruitful journey to engage LLMs in communication games and associated domains.

Bi-directional Distribution Alignment for Transductive Zero-Shot LearningZhicai Wang, Yanbin Hao, Tingting Mu et al.
It is well-known that zero-shot learning (ZSL) can suffer severely from the problem of domain shift, where the true and learned data distributions for the unseen classes do not match. Although transductive ZSL (TZSL) attempts to improve this by allowing the use of unlabelled examples from the unseen classes, there is still a high level of distribution shift. We propose a novel TZSL model (named as Bi-VAEGAN), which largely improves the shift by a strengthened distribution alignment between the visual and auxiliary spaces. The key proposal of the model design includes (1) a bi-directional distribution alignment, (2) a simple but effective L_2-norm based feature normalization approach, and (3) a more sophisticated unseen class prior estimation approach. In benchmark evaluation using four datasets, Bi-VAEGAN achieves the new state of the arts under both the standard and generalized TZSL settings. Input Augmentation with SAM: Boosting Medical Image Segmentation with Segmentation Foundation ModelYizhe Zhang, Tao Zhou, Shuo Wang et al.
The Segment Anything Model (SAM) is a recently developed large model for general-purpose segmentation for computer vision tasks. SAM was trained using 11 million images with over 1 billion masks and can produce segmentation results for a wide range of objects in natural scene images. SAM can be viewed as a general perception model for segmentation (partitioning images into semantically meaningful regions). Thus, how to utilize such a large foundation model for medical image segmentation is an emerging research target. This paper shows that although SAM does not immediately give high-quality segmentation for medical image data, its generated masks, features, and stability scores are useful for building and training better medical image segmentation models. In particular, we demonstrate how to use SAM to augment image input for commonly-used medical image segmentation models (e.g., U-Net). Boundary-Guided Camouflaged Object DetectionYujia Sun, Shuo Wang, Chenglizhao Chen et al.
Camouflaged object detection (COD), segmenting objects that are elegantly blended into their surroundings, is a valuable yet challenging task. Existing deep-learning methods often fall into the difficulty of accurately identifying the camouflaged object with complete and fine object structure. To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel boundary-guided network (BGNet) for camouflaged object detection. Our method explores valuable and extra object-related edge semantics to guide representation learning of COD, which forces the model to generate features that highlight object structure, thereby promoting camouflaged object detection of accurate boundary localization. Extensive experiments on three challenging benchmark datasets demonstrate that our BGNet significantly outperforms the existing 18 state-of-the-art methods under four widely-used evaluation metrics. Parameterization of Cross-Token Relations with Relative Positional Encoding for Vision MLPZhicai Wang, Yanbin Hao, Xingyu Gao et al.
Vision multi-layer perceptrons (MLPs) have shown promising performance in computer vision tasks, and become the main competitor of CNNs and vision Transformers. They use token-mixing layers to capture cross-token interactions, as opposed to the multi-head self-attention mechanism used by Transformers. However, the heavily parameterized token-mixing layers naturally lack mechanisms to capture local information and multi-granular non-local relations, thus their discriminative power is restrained. To tackle this issue, we propose a new positional spacial gating unit (PoSGU). It exploits the attention formulations used in the classical relative positional encoding (RPE), to efficiently encode the cross-token relations for token mixing. It can successfully reduce the current quadratic parameter complexity $O(N^2)$ of vision MLPs to $O(N)$ and $O(1)$. We experiment with two RPE mechanisms, and further propose a group-wise extension to improve their expressive power with the accomplishment of multi-granular contexts. These then serve as the key building blocks of a new type of vision MLP, referred to as PosMLP. We evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach by conducting thorough experiments, demonstrating an improved or comparable performance with reduced parameter complexity. For instance, for a model trained on ImageNet1K, we achieve a performance improvement from 72.14\% to 74.02\% and a learnable parameter reduction from $19.4M$ to $18.2M$. RAGEval: Scenario Specific RAG Evaluation Dataset Generation FrameworkKunlun Zhu, Yifan Luo, Dingling Xu et al.
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is a powerful approach that enables large language models (LLMs) to incorporate external knowledge. However, evaluating the effectiveness of RAG systems in specialized scenarios remains challenging due to the high costs of data construction and the lack of suitable evaluation metrics. This paper introduces RAGEval, a framework designed to assess RAG systems across diverse scenarios by generating high-quality documents, questions, answers, and references through a schema-based pipeline. With a focus on factual accuracy, we propose three novel metrics: Completeness, Hallucination, and Irrelevance to evaluate LLM generated responses rigorously. Experimental results show that RAGEval outperforms zero-shot and one-shot methods in terms of clarity, safety, conformity, and richness of generated samples. Furthermore, the use of LLMs for scoring the proposed metrics demonstrates a high level of consistency with human evaluations. Generative Modelling of the Ageing Heart with Cross-Sectional Imaging and Clinical DataMengyun Qiao, Berke Doga Basaran, Huaqi Qiu et al.
Cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death globally, is an age-related disease. Understanding the morphological and functional changes of the heart during ageing is a key scientific question, the answer to which will help us define important risk factors of cardiovascular disease and monitor disease progression. In this work, we propose a novel conditional generative model to describe the changes of 3D anatomy of the heart during ageing. The proposed model is flexible and allows integration of multiple clinical factors (e.g. age, gender) into the generating process. We train the model on a large-scale cross-sectional dataset of cardiac anatomies and evaluate on both cross-sectional and longitudinal datasets. The model demonstrates excellent performance in predicting the longitudinal evolution of the ageing heart and modelling its data distribution. With the rapid development of deep learning, training Big Models (BMs) for multiple downstream tasks becomes a popular paradigm. Researchers have achieved various outcomes in the construction of BMs and the BM application in many fields. At present, there is a lack of research work that sorts out the overall progress of BMs and guides the follow-up research. In this paper, we cover not only the BM technologies themselves but also the prerequisites for BM training and applications with BMs, dividing the BM review into four parts: Resource, Models, Key Technologies and Application. We introduce 16 specific BM-related topics in those four parts, they are Data, Knowledge, Computing System, Parallel Training System, Language Model, Vision Model, Multi-modal Model, Theory&Interpretability, Commonsense Reasoning, Reliability&Security, Governance, Evaluation, Machine Translation, Text Generation, Dialogue and Protein Research. In each topic, we summarize clearly the current studies and propose some future research directions. At the end of this paper, we conclude the further development of BMs in a more general view.

Memory-aided Contrastive Consensus Learning for Co-salient Object DetectionPeng Zheng, Jie Qin, Shuo Wang et al.
Co-Salient Object Detection (CoSOD) aims at detecting common salient objects within a group of relevant source images. Most of the latest works employ the attention mechanism for finding common objects. To achieve accurate CoSOD results with high-quality maps and high efficiency, we propose a novel Memory-aided Contrastive Consensus Learning (MCCL) framework, which is capable of effectively detecting co-salient objects in real time (~150 fps). To learn better group consensus, we propose the Group Consensus Aggregation Module (GCAM) to abstract the common features of each image group; meanwhile, to make the consensus representation more discriminative, we introduce the Memory-based Contrastive Module (MCM), which saves and updates the consensus of images from different groups in a queue of memories. Finally, to improve the quality and integrity of the predicted maps, we develop an Adversarial Integrity Learning (AIL) strategy to make the segmented regions more likely composed of complete objects with less surrounding noise. Extensive experiments on all the latest CoSOD benchmarks demonstrate that our lite MCCL outperforms 13 cutting-edge models, achieving the new state of the art (~5.9% and ~6.2% improvement in S-measure on CoSOD3k and CoSal2015, respectively). Feature Shrinkage Pyramid for Camouflaged Object Detection with TransformersZhou Huang, Hang Dai, Tian-Zhu Xiang et al.
Vision transformers have recently shown strong global context modeling capabilities in camouflaged object detection. However, they suffer from two major limitations: less effective locality modeling and insufficient feature aggregation in decoders, which are not conducive to camouflaged object detection that explores subtle cues from indistinguishable backgrounds. To address these issues, in this paper, we propose a novel transformer-based Feature Shrinkage Pyramid Network (FSPNet), which aims to hierarchically decode locality-enhanced neighboring transformer features through progressive shrinking for camouflaged object detection. Specifically, we propose a nonlocal token enhancement module (NL-TEM) that employs the non-local mechanism to interact neighboring tokens and explore graph-based high-order relations within tokens to enhance local representations of transformers. Moreover, we design a feature shrinkage decoder (FSD) with adjacent interaction modules (AIM), which progressively aggregates adjacent transformer features through a layer-bylayer shrinkage pyramid to accumulate imperceptible but effective cues as much as possible for object information decoding. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that the proposed model significantly outperforms the existing 24 competitors on three challenging COD benchmark datasets under six widely-used evaluation metrics. UF-AMA: A unified framework for cross-domain emotion recognition via adaptive multimodal alignmentZheng Wang, Shuo Wang, Junhong Wang
In recent years, emotion recognition based on physiological signals such as electroencephalogram (EEG) has gained considerable attention, as internal physiological data offer greater objectivity and reliability compared to external behavioral data like facial expressions. However, due to distribution shifts caused by individual and contextual differences, along with variations in sample quality across modalities, constructing a cross-domain multimodal emotion recognition model with high generalization and robustness remains a key challenge. In this study, we propose a Unified Framework with Adaptive Multimodal Alignment (UF-AMA) to address cross-subject and cross-session emotion recognition using multimodal physiological signals. First, we construct a cross-modal feature fusion network comprising Transformer encoders and multi-head cross-attention modules, enabling the deep integration of EEG signals and eye-tracking data. Subsequently, we introduce a confidence-aware screening mechanism that dynamically assesses the predictive reliability of each modality branch on target domain samples, partitions samples into different quality subsets, and accordingly applies global consistency alignment and cross-modal distillation. Finally, we propose a multi-level domain adaptation framework that jointly optimizes the marginal and conditional distributions of both local modality-specific and global fusion features, thereby reducing cross-domain distribution shifts at multiple granularities. Extensive experiments on the SEED and SEED-IV datasets demonstrate that UF-AMA achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance in both cross-subject and cross-session tasks. INTERVENOR: Prompting the Coding Ability of Large Language Models with the Interactive Chain of RepairHanbin Wang, Zhenghao Liu, Shuo Wang et al.
This paper introduces INTERVENOR (INTERactiVE chaiN Of Repair), a system designed to emulate the interactive code repair processes observed in humans, encompassing both code diagnosis and code repair. INTERVENOR prompts Large Language Models (LLMs) to play distinct roles during the code repair process, functioning as both a Code Learner and a Code Teacher. Specifically, the Code Learner is tasked with adhering to instructions to generate or repair code, while the Code Teacher is responsible for crafting a Chain-of-Repair (CoR) to serve as guidance for the Code Learner. During generating the CoR, the Code Teacher needs to check the generated codes from Code Learner and reassess how to address code bugs based on error feedback received from compilers. Experimental results demonstrate that INTERVENOR surpasses baseline models, exhibiting improvements of approximately 18% and 4.3% over GPT-3.5 in code generation and code translation tasks, respectively. Our further analyses show that CoR is effective to illuminate the reasons behind bugs and outline solution plans in natural language. With the feedback of code compilers, INTERVENOR can accurately identify syntax errors and assertion errors and provide precise instructions to repair codes. Maximising the Set-Piece Return: Optimising Football Corner Tactics with Graph Reinforcement LearningSean Groom, Michael Groom, Francisco Belo et al.
Machine learning is increasingly employed for the evaluation of football tactics. However, existing approaches focus on characterising historical actions or analyst-specified counterfactual scenarios. In this work, we seek to go beyond the imitation of historically observed patterns towards discovering new generalisable player configurations and strategies. To tackle this, we focus on optimising corner kick routines, and formulate a decision-making problem in which a central policy makes adjustments to attacking player positions and velocities to maximise first contact shot probability. Unlike classic optimisation that solves for isolated setups, we contribute a reinforcement learning architecture operating on graph-structured data that yields a general policy for adjusting arbitrary starting player positions. Evaluated on over 3,000 Premier League corners, our approach strongly outperforms baseline optimisation techniques under matched inference budgets. Our results suggest that graph reinforcement learning can shift set-piece analysis from historical evaluation and imitation towards reward-driven tactical discovery.

A Novel Method with Encoder-Decoder for Cross-Sensor Adaptation in Surface Shape Sensing with Sparse Strain SensorsShuo Wang, Heng Luo, Dian Jin et al.
Performance variations in sensor arrays, caused by intrinsic differences or installation conditions, can lead to inconsistent results during shape sensing. To obtain accurate results, a large amount of data is usually required, and a separate model must be retrained for each sensor array, thereby increasing the cost and time of data acquisition, transmission, and computation. To address this issue, this work proposes an encoder-decoder architecture for surface shape sensing based on sparse strain sensors and further incorporates meta-learning and few-shot adaptation strategies to enable adaptation across different groups of sensor arrays. Experimental results demonstrate that, after the cross-sensor adaptation, a newly deployed sensor array achieves a sensing error of approximately 4.0 mm relying on less than 5.0% newly labeled data and requiring an adaptation time of under 1 second, which represents a substantial improvement from 23.0 mm error without adaptation and 20-minute data collection time required to train a new model. Moreover, the number of points with errors below 5.0 mm increased by more than 65.0%. These results indicate that the proposed method can substantially reduce the cost and training burden of surface shape sensing, and it has broad potential applications in soft robotics and wearable devices.

The Post-GCN Decade Revisited: Curvature-Stratified Evaluation of Relational LearningShuo Wang, Xiangyu Wang, Quanxin Wang et al.
Current evaluation practices in relational learning rely heavily on flat leaderboards that average performance across heterogeneous datasets, implicitly assuming a uniform underlying structure. We show that this assumption introduces systematic bias: it obscures geometry-dependent performance variations and can lead to misleading conclusions about model generalization. In this work, we identify intrinsic geometry as a key latent factor governing model effectiveness. We demonstrate that conventional aggregated metrics mask critical performance trade-offs that only become visible when datasets are stratified by their geometric properties. To address this issue, we introduce a curvature-stratified evaluation framework that partitions datasets into positive, negative, and near-zero curvature regimes. Our benchmark evaluates 18 representative models including Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs), Graph Foundation Models (GFMs), and tabular learning methods across 14 datasets. We find that model rankings are highly stable within each curvature regime but shift significantly across regimes, indicating that performance is fundamentally geometry-dependent rather than universally transferable. Notably, we identify regimes where GFMs offer diminishing returns compared to geometry-aligned GNNs. Based on these findings, we propose a geometry-aware evaluation protocol that yields more reliable and interpretable comparisons than standard aggregated benchmarks. We release all code, curvature-stratified dataset splits, and evaluation tools to support reproducible and rigorous assessment of future relational learning methods. Depth cues are known to be useful for visual perception. However, direct measurement of depth is often impracticable. Fortunately, though, modern learning-based methods offer promising depth maps by inference in the wild. In this work, we adapt such depth inference models for object segmentation using the objects' "pop-out" prior in 3D. The "pop-out" is a simple composition prior that assumes objects reside on the background surface. Such compositional prior allows us to reason about objects in the 3D space. More specifically, we adapt the inferred depth maps such that objects can be localized using only 3D information. Such separation, however, requires knowledge about contact surface which we learn using the weak supervision of the segmentation mask. Our intermediate representation of contact surface, and thereby reasoning about objects purely in 3D, allows us to better transfer the depth knowledge into semantics. The proposed adaptation method uses only the depth model without needing the source data used for training, making the learning process efficient and practical. Our experiments on eight datasets of two challenging tasks, namely camouflaged object detection and salient object detection, consistently demonstrate the benefit of our method in terms of both performance and generalizability.

Integrating Vectorized Lexical Constraints for Neural Machine TranslationShuo Wang, Zhixing Tan, Yang Liu · tsinghua
Lexically constrained neural machine translation (NMT), which controls the generation of NMT models with pre-specified constraints, is important in many practical scenarios. Due to the representation gap between discrete constraints and continuous vectors in NMT models, most existing works choose to construct synthetic data or modify the decoding algorithm to impose lexical constraints, treating the NMT model as a black box. In this work, we propose to open this black box by directly integrating the constraints into NMT models. Specifically, we vectorize source and target constraints into continuous keys and values, which can be utilized by the attention modules of NMT models. The proposed integration method is based on the assumption that the correspondence between keys and values in attention modules is naturally suitable for modeling constraint pairs. Experimental results show that our method consistently outperforms several representative baselines on four language pairs, demonstrating the superiority of integrating vectorized lexical constraints.

The 6th edition of the AI City Challenge specifically focuses on problems in two domains where there is tremendous unlocked potential at the intersection of computer vision and artificial intelligence: Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), and brick and mortar retail businesses. The four challenge tracks of the 2022 AI City Challenge received participation requests from 254 teams across 27 countries. Track 1 addressed city-scale multi-target multi-camera (MTMC) vehicle tracking. Track 2 addressed natural-language-based vehicle track retrieval. Track 3 was a brand new track for naturalistic driving analysis, where the data were captured by several cameras mounted inside the vehicle focusing on driver safety, and the task was to classify driver actions. Track 4 was another new track aiming to achieve retail store automated checkout using only a single view camera. We released two leader boards for submissions based on different methods, including a public leader board for the contest, where no use of external data is allowed, and a general leader board for all submitted results. The top performance of participating teams established strong baselines and even outperformed the state-of-the-art in the proposed challenge tracks.

A Template-based Method for Constrained Neural Machine TranslationShuo Wang, Peng Li, Zhixing Tan et al. · tsinghua
Machine translation systems are expected to cope with various types of constraints in many practical scenarios. While neural machine translation (NMT) has achieved strong performance in unconstrained cases, it is non-trivial to impose pre-specified constraints into the translation process of NMT models. Although many approaches have been proposed to address this issue, most existing methods can not satisfy the following three desiderata at the same time: (1) high translation quality, (2) high match accuracy, and (3) low latency. In this work, we propose a template-based method that can yield results with high translation quality and match accuracy and the inference speed of our method is comparable with unconstrained NMT models. Our basic idea is to rearrange the generation of constrained and unconstrained tokens through a template. Our method does not require any changes in the model architecture and the decoding algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed template-based approach can outperform several representative baselines in both lexically and structurally constrained translation tasks.

LDA-1B: Scaling Latent Dynamics Action Model via Universal Embodied Data IngestionJiangran Lyu, Kai Liu, Xuheng Zhang et al.
Recent robot foundation models largely rely on large-scale behavior cloning, which imitates expert actions but discards transferable dynamics knowledge embedded in heterogeneous embodied data. While the Unified World Model (UWM) formulation has the potential to leverage such diverse data, existing instantiations struggle to scale to foundation-level due to coarse data usage and fragmented datasets. We introduce LDA-1B, a robot foundation model that scales through universal embodied data ingestion by jointly learning dynamics, policy, and visual forecasting, assigning distinct roles to data of varying quality. To support this regime at scale, we assemble and standardize EI-30k, an embodied interaction dataset comprising over 30k hours of human and robot trajectories in a unified format. Scalable dynamics learning over such heterogeneous data is enabled by prediction in a structured DINO latent space, which avoids redundant pixel-space appearance modeling. Complementing this representation, LDA-1B employs a multi-modal diffusion transformer to handle asynchronous vision and action streams, enabling stable training at the 1B-parameter scale. Experiments in simulation and the real world show LDA-1B outperforms prior methods (e.g., $π_{0.5}$) by up to 21\%, 48\%, and 23\% on contact-rich, dexterous, and long-horizon tasks, respectively. Notably, LDA-1B enables data-efficient fine-tuning, gaining 10\% by leveraging 30\% low-quality trajectories typically harmful and discarded.

Advancements in LLMs have recently unveiled challenges tied to computational efficiency and continual scalability due to their requirements of huge parameters, making the applications and evolution of these models on devices with limited computation resources and scenarios requiring various abilities increasingly cumbersome. Inspired by modularity within the human brain, there is a growing tendency to decompose LLMs into numerous functional modules, allowing for inference with part of modules and dynamic assembly of modules to tackle complex tasks, such as mixture-of-experts. To highlight the inherent efficiency and composability of the modular approach, we coin the term brick to represent each functional module, designating the modularized structure as configurable foundation models. In this paper, we offer a comprehensive overview and investigation of the construction, utilization, and limitation of configurable foundation models. We first formalize modules into emergent bricks - functional neuron partitions that emerge during the pre-training phase, and customized bricks - bricks constructed via additional post-training to improve the capabilities and knowledge of LLMs. Based on diverse functional bricks, we further present four brick-oriented operations: retrieval and routing, merging, updating, and growing. These operations allow for dynamic configuration of LLMs based on instructions to handle complex tasks. To verify our perspective, we conduct an empirical analysis on widely-used LLMs. We find that the FFN layers follow modular patterns with functional specialization of neurons and functional neuron partitions. Finally, we highlight several open issues and directions for future research. Overall, this paper aims to offer a fresh modular perspective on existing LLM research and inspire the future creation of more efficient and scalable foundational models.

PGN: The RNN's New Successor is Effective for Long-Range Time Series ForecastingYuxin Jia, Youfang Lin, Jing Yu et al.
Due to the recurrent structure of RNN, the long information propagation path poses limitations in capturing long-term dependencies, gradient explosion/vanishing issues, and inefficient sequential execution. Based on this, we propose a novel paradigm called Parallel Gated Network (PGN) as the new successor to RNN. PGN directly captures information from previous time steps through the designed Historical Information Extraction (HIE) layer and leverages gated mechanisms to select and fuse it with the current time step information. This reduces the information propagation path to $\mathcal{O}(1)$, effectively addressing the limitations of RNN. To enhance PGN's performance in long-range time series forecasting tasks, we propose a novel temporal modeling framework called Temporal PGN (TPGN). TPGN incorporates two branches to comprehensively capture the semantic information of time series. One branch utilizes PGN to capture long-term periodic patterns while preserving their local characteristics. The other branch employs patches to capture short-term information and aggregate the global representation of the series. TPGN achieves a theoretical complexity of $\mathcal{O}(\sqrt{L})$, ensuring efficiency in its operations. Experimental results on five benchmark datasets demonstrate the state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance and high efficiency of TPGN, further confirming the effectiveness of PGN as the new successor to RNN in long-range time series forecasting. TSP-Transformer: Task-Specific Prompts Boosted Transformer for Holistic Scene UnderstandingShuo Wang, Jing Li, Zibo Zhao et al.
Holistic scene understanding includes semantic segmentation, surface normal estimation, object boundary detection, depth estimation, etc. The key aspect of this problem is to learn representation effectively, as each subtask builds upon not only correlated but also distinct attributes. Inspired by visual-prompt tuning, we propose a Task-Specific Prompts Transformer, dubbed TSP-Transformer, for holistic scene understanding. It features a vanilla transformer in the early stage and tasks-specific prompts transformer encoder in the lateral stage, where tasks-specific prompts are augmented. By doing so, the transformer layer learns the generic information from the shared parts and is endowed with task-specific capacity. First, the tasks-specific prompts serve as induced priors for each task effectively. Moreover, the task-specific prompts can be seen as switches to favor task-specific representation learning for different tasks. Extensive experiments on NYUD-v2 and PASCAL-Context show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance, validating the effectiveness of our method for holistic scene understanding. Segmentation and Tracking of Vegetable Plants by Exploiting Vegetable Shape Feature for Precision Spray of Agricultural RobotsNan Hu, Daobilige Su, Shuo Wang et al.
With the increasing deployment of agricultural robots, the traditional manual spray of liquid fertilizer and pesticide is gradually being replaced by agricultural robots. For robotic precision spray application in vegetable farms, accurate plant phenotyping through instance segmentation and robust plant tracking are of great importance and a prerequisite for the following spray action. Regarding the robust tracking of vegetable plants, to solve the challenging problem of associating vegetables with similar color and texture in consecutive images, in this paper, a novel method of Multiple Object Tracking and Segmentation (MOTS) is proposed for instance segmentation and tracking of multiple vegetable plants. In our approach, contour and blob features are extracted to describe unique feature of each individual vegetable, and associate the same vegetables in different images. By assigning a unique ID for each vegetable, it ensures the robot to spray each vegetable exactly once, while traversing along the farm rows. Comprehensive experiments including ablation studies are conducted, which prove its superior performance over two State-Of-The-Art (SOTA) MOTS methods. Compared to the conventional MOTS methods, the proposed method is able to re-identify objects which have gone out of the camera field of view and re-appear again using the proposed data association strategy, which is important to ensure each vegetable be sprayed only once when the robot travels back and forth. Although the method is tested on lettuce farm, it can be applied to other similar vegetables such as broccoli and canola. Ground4D: Spatially-Grounded Feedforward 4D Reconstruction for Unstructured Off-Road ScenesShuo Wang, Jilin Mei, Fuyang Liu et al.
Feedforward Gaussian Splatting has recently emerged as an efficient paradigm for 4D reconstruction in autonomous driving. However, in unstructured off-road scenes, its performance degrades due to high-frequency geometry, ego-motion jitter, and increased non-rigid dynamics. These factors introduce conflicting Gaussian observations across timestamps, leading to either over-smoothed renderings or structural artifacts. To address this issue, we propose Ground4D, a spatially-grounded 4D feedforward framework for pose-free off-road reconstruction. The key idea is to resolve temporal conflicts through spatially localized conditioning. Specifically, we introduce voxel-grounded temporal Gaussian aggregation, which partitions the canonical Gaussian space into spatial voxels and performs query-conditioned temporal attention within each voxel. Intra-voxel softmax normalization ensures that temporal selectivity and spatial occupancy become mutually reinforcing rather than conflicting. We furthermore introduce surface normal cues as auxiliary geometric guidance to regularize the geometry of Gaussian primitives. Extensive experiments on ORAD-3D and RELLIS-3D demonstrate that Ground4D consistently outperforms existing feedforward methods in reconstruction quality and generalizes zero-shot to unseen off-road domains. Understanding and Mitigating the Uncertainty in Zero-Shot TranslationWenxuan Wang, Wenxiang Jiao, Shuo Wang et al. · tsinghua
Zero-shot translation is a promising direction for building a comprehensive multilingual neural machine translation~(MNMT) system. However, its quality is still not satisfactory due to off-target issues. In this paper, we aim to understand and alleviate the off-target issues from the perspective of uncertainty in zero-shot translation. By carefully examining the translation output and model confidence, we identify two uncertainties that are responsible for the off-target issues, namely, extrinsic data uncertainty and intrinsic model uncertainty. Based on the observations, we propose two lightweight and complementary approaches to denoise the training data for model training and explicitly penalize the off-target translations by unlikelihood training during model training. Extensive experiments on both balanced and imbalanced datasets show that our approaches significantly improve the performance of zero-shot translation over strong MNMT baselines.

Generative Myocardial Motion Tracking via Latent Space Exploration with Biomechanics-informed PriorChen Qin, Shuo Wang, Chen Chen et al.
Myocardial motion and deformation are rich descriptors that characterize cardiac function. Image registration, as the most commonly used technique for myocardial motion tracking, is an ill-posed inverse problem which often requires prior assumptions on the solution space. In contrast to most existing approaches which impose explicit generic regularization such as smoothness, in this work we propose a novel method that can implicitly learn an application-specific biomechanics-informed prior and embed it into a neural network-parameterized transformation model. Particularly, the proposed method leverages a variational autoencoder-based generative model to learn a manifold for biomechanically plausible deformations. The motion tracking then can be performed via traversing the learnt manifold to search for the optimal transformations while considering the sequence information. The proposed method is validated on three public cardiac cine MRI datasets with comprehensive evaluations. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can outperform other approaches, yielding higher motion tracking accuracy with reasonable volume preservation and better generalizability to varying data distributions. It also enables better estimates of myocardial strains, which indicates the potential of the method in characterizing spatiotemporal signatures for understanding cardiovascular diseases.

LongCat-Flash-Thinking-2601 Technical ReportMeituan LongCat Team, Anchun Gui, Bei Li et al.
We introduce LongCat-Flash-Thinking-2601, a 560-billion-parameter open-source Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) reasoning model with superior agentic reasoning capability. LongCat-Flash-Thinking-2601 achieves state-of-the-art performance among open-source models on a wide range of agentic benchmarks, including agentic search, agentic tool use, and tool-integrated reasoning. Beyond benchmark performance, the model demonstrates strong generalization to complex tool interactions and robust behavior under noisy real-world environments. Its advanced capability stems from a unified training framework that combines domain-parallel expert training with subsequent fusion, together with an end-to-end co-design of data construction, environments, algorithms, and infrastructure spanning from pre-training to post-training. In particular, the model's strong generalization capability in complex tool-use are driven by our in-depth exploration of environment scaling and principled task construction. To optimize long-tailed, skewed generation and multi-turn agentic interactions, and to enable stable training across over 10,000 environments spanning more than 20 domains, we systematically extend our asynchronous reinforcement learning framework, DORA, for stable and efficient large-scale multi-environment training. Furthermore, recognizing that real-world tasks are inherently noisy, we conduct a systematic analysis and decomposition of real-world noise patterns, and design targeted training procedures to explicitly incorporate such imperfections into the training process, resulting in improved robustness for real-world applications. To further enhance performance on complex reasoning tasks, we introduce a Heavy Thinking mode that enables effective test-time scaling by jointly expanding reasoning depth and width through intensive parallel thinking.

A Unified Query-based Paradigm for Camouflaged Instance SegmentationBo Dong, Jialun Pei, Rongrong Gao et al.
Due to the high similarity between camouflaged instances and the background, the recently proposed camouflaged instance segmentation (CIS) faces challenges in accurate localization and instance segmentation. To this end, inspired by query-based transformers, we propose a unified query-based multi-task learning framework for camouflaged instance segmentation, termed UQFormer, which builds a set of mask queries and a set of boundary queries to learn a shared composed query representation and efficiently integrates global camouflaged object region and boundary cues, for simultaneous instance segmentation and instance boundary detection in camouflaged scenarios. Specifically, we design a composed query learning paradigm that learns a shared representation to capture object region and boundary features by the cross-attention interaction of mask queries and boundary queries in the designed multi-scale unified learning transformer decoder. Then, we present a transformer-based multi-task learning framework for simultaneous camouflaged instance segmentation and camouflaged instance boundary detection based on the learned composed query representation, which also forces the model to learn a strong instance-level query representation. Notably, our model views the instance segmentation as a query-based direct set prediction problem, without other post-processing such as non-maximal suppression. Compared with 14 state-of-the-art approaches, our UQFormer significantly improves the performance of camouflaged instance segmentation. Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated the ability to improve human efficiency through conversational interactions. Conventional LLM-powered dialogue systems, operating on a turn-based paradigm, preclude real-time interaction during response generation. To address this limitation, researchers have proposed duplex models. These models can dynamically adapt to user input, facilitating real-time interactive feedback. However, these methods typically require substantial computational resources to acquire the ability. To reduce overhead, this paper presents a new duplex decoding approach that enhances LLMs with duplex ability, requiring minimal additional training. Specifically, our method employs parallel decoding of queries and responses in conversations, effectively implementing a channel-division-multiplexing decoding strategy. Experimental results indicate that our proposed method significantly enhances the naturalness and human-likeness of user-AI interactions with minimal training costs.

CHeart: A Conditional Spatio-Temporal Generative Model for Cardiac AnatomyMengyun Qiao, Shuo Wang, Huaqi Qiu et al.
Two key questions in cardiac image analysis are to assess the anatomy and motion of the heart from images; and to understand how they are associated with non-imaging clinical factors such as gender, age and diseases. While the first question can often be addressed by image segmentation and motion tracking algorithms, our capability to model and to answer the second question is still limited. In this work, we propose a novel conditional generative model to describe the 4D spatio-temporal anatomy of the heart and its interaction with non-imaging clinical factors. The clinical factors are integrated as the conditions of the generative modelling, which allows us to investigate how these factors influence the cardiac anatomy. We evaluate the model performance in mainly two tasks, anatomical sequence completion and sequence generation. The model achieves a high performance in anatomical sequence completion, comparable to or outperforming other state-of-the-art generative models. In terms of sequence generation, given clinical conditions, the model can generate realistic synthetic 4D sequential anatomies that share similar distributions with the real data.

Selective Vision-Language Subspace Projection for Few-shot CLIPXingyu Zhu, Beier Zhu, Yi Tan et al.
Vision-language models such as CLIP are capable of mapping the different modality data into a unified feature space, enabling zero/few-shot inference by measuring the similarity of given images and texts. However, most existing methods overlook modality gaps in CLIP's encoded features, which is shown as the text and image features lie far apart from each other, resulting in limited classification performance. To tackle this issue, we introduce a method called Selective Vision-Language Subspace Projection (SSP), which incorporates local image features and utilizes them as a bridge to enhance the alignment between image-text pairs. Specifically, our SSP framework comprises two parallel modules: a vision projector and a language projector. Both projectors utilize local image features to span the respective subspaces for image and texts, thereby projecting the image and text features into their respective subspaces to achieve alignment. Moreover, our approach entails only training-free matrix calculations and can be seamlessly integrated into advanced CLIP-based few-shot learning frameworks. Extensive experiments on 11 datasets have demonstrated SSP's superior text-image alignment capabilities, outperforming the state-of-the-art alignment methods. Trichomonas Vaginalis Segmentation in Microscope ImagesLin Li, Jingyi Liu, Shuo Wang et al.
Trichomoniasis is a common infectious disease with high incidence caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis, increasing the risk of getting HIV in humans if left untreated. Automated detection of Trichomonas vaginalis from microscopic images can provide vital information for the diagnosis of trichomoniasis. However, accurate Trichomonas vaginalis segmentation (TVS) is a challenging task due to the high appearance similarity between the Trichomonas and other cells (e.g., leukocyte), the large appearance variation caused by their motility, and, most importantly, the lack of large-scale annotated data for deep model training. To address these challenges, we elaborately collected the first large-scale Microscopic Image dataset of Trichomonas Vaginalis, named TVMI3K, which consists of 3,158 images covering Trichomonas of various appearances in diverse backgrounds, with high-quality annotations including object-level mask labels, object boundaries, and challenging attributes. Besides, we propose a simple yet effective baseline, termed TVNet, to automatically segment Trichomonas from microscopic images, including high-resolution fusion and foreground-background attention modules. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our model achieves superior segmentation performance and outperforms various cutting-edge object detection models both quantitatively and qualitatively, making it a promising framework to promote future research in TVS tasks. FAST: A Dual-tier Few-Shot Learning Paradigm for Whole Slide Image ClassificationKexue Fu, Xiaoyuan Luo, Linhao Qu et al.
The expensive fine-grained annotation and data scarcity have become the primary obstacles for the widespread adoption of deep learning-based Whole Slide Images (WSI) classification algorithms in clinical practice. Unlike few-shot learning methods in natural images that can leverage the labels of each image, existing few-shot WSI classification methods only utilize a small number of fine-grained labels or weakly supervised slide labels for training in order to avoid expensive fine-grained annotation. They lack sufficient mining of available WSIs, severely limiting WSI classification performance. To address the above issues, we propose a novel and efficient dual-tier few-shot learning paradigm for WSI classification, named FAST. FAST consists of a dual-level annotation strategy and a dual-branch classification framework. Firstly, to avoid expensive fine-grained annotation, we collect a very small number of WSIs at the slide level, and annotate an extremely small number of patches. Then, to fully mining the available WSIs, we use all the patches and available patch labels to build a cache branch, which utilizes the labeled patches to learn the labels of unlabeled patches and through knowledge retrieval for patch classification. In addition to the cache branch, we also construct a prior branch that includes learnable prompt vectors, using the text encoder of visual-language models for patch classification. Finally, we integrate the results from both branches to achieve WSI classification. Extensive experiments on binary and multi-class datasets demonstrate that our proposed method significantly surpasses existing few-shot classification methods and approaches the accuracy of fully supervised methods with only 0.22$\%$ annotation costs. TANet: Transformer-based Asymmetric Network for RGB-D Salient Object DetectionChang Liu, Gang Yang, Shuo Wang et al.
Existing RGB-D SOD methods mainly rely on a symmetric two-stream CNN-based network to extract RGB and depth channel features separately. However, there are two problems with the symmetric conventional network structure: first, the ability of CNN in learning global contexts is limited; second, the symmetric two-stream structure ignores the inherent differences between modalities. In this paper, we propose a Transformer-based asymmetric network (TANet) to tackle the issues mentioned above. We employ the powerful feature extraction capability of Transformer (PVTv2) to extract global semantic information from RGB data and design a lightweight CNN backbone (LWDepthNet) to extract spatial structure information from depth data without pre-training. The asymmetric hybrid encoder (AHE) effectively reduces the number of parameters in the model while increasing speed without sacrificing performance. Then, we design a cross-modal feature fusion module (CMFFM), which enhances and fuses RGB and depth features with each other. Finally, we add edge prediction as an auxiliary task and propose an edge enhancement module (EEM) to generate sharper contours. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves superior performance over 14 state-of-the-art RGB-D methods on six public datasets. CMRxRecon: An open cardiac MRI dataset for the competition of accelerated image reconstructionChengyan Wang, Jun Lyu, Shuo Wang et al.
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has emerged as a valuable diagnostic tool for cardiac diseases. However, a limitation of CMR is its slow imaging speed, which causes patient discomfort and introduces artifacts in the images. There has been growing interest in deep learning-based CMR imaging algorithms that can reconstruct high-quality images from highly under-sampled k-space data. However, the development of deep learning methods requires large training datasets, which have not been publicly available for CMR. To address this gap, we released a dataset that includes multi-contrast, multi-view, multi-slice and multi-coil CMR imaging data from 300 subjects. Imaging studies include cardiac cine and mapping sequences. Manual segmentations of the myocardium and chambers of all the subjects are also provided within the dataset. Scripts of state-of-the-art reconstruction algorithms were also provided as a point of reference. Our aim is to facilitate the advancement of state-of-the-art CMR image reconstruction by introducing standardized evaluation criteria and making the dataset freely accessible to the research community. SG-CADVLM: A Context-Aware Decoding Powered Vision Language Model for Safety-Critical Scenario GenerationHongyi Zhao, Shuo Wang, Qijie He et al.
Autonomous Vehicle (AV) requires rigorous testing in safety-critical scenarios for safety validation, yet its validation is hindered by the high cost of field testing and the lack of fidelity in current simulations for rare safety-critical events. Crash reports offer rich and authentic specifications of real-world accident dynamics, making them a promising resource for Large Language Models and Vision-Language models to generate high-fidelity scenarios. However, the existing models frequently deviate from actual accident characteristics due to context suppression. To address these limitations, this paper presents SG-CADVLM, a framework integrateing Context-Aware Decoding with multimodal input processing to generate safety-critical scenarios from crash reports. The framework mitigates the hallucination of VLMs while generating road geometry and vehicle trajectories simultaneously. The experimental results demonstrate that SG-CADVLM generates combined critical and high-risk scenarios at a rate of 88.1% compared to 31.2% for the baseline methods, representing a 182% improvement, while producing executable simulations for autonomous vehicle testing.

MetaMem: Evolving Meta-Memory for Knowledge Utilization through Self-Reflective Symbolic OptimizationHaidong Xin, Xinze Li, Zhenghao Liu et al.
Existing memory systems enable Large Language Models (LLMs) to support long-horizon human-LLM interactions by persisting historical interactions beyond limited context windows. However, while recent approaches have succeeded in constructing effective memories, they often disrupt the inherent logical and temporal relationships within interaction sessions, resulting in fragmented memory units and degraded reasoning performance. In this paper, we propose MetaMem, a novel framework that augments memory systems with a self-evolving meta-memory, aiming to teach LLMs how to effectively utilize memorized knowledge. During meta-memory optimization, MetaMem iteratively distills transferable knowledge utilization experiences across different tasks by self-reflecting on reasoning processes and performing actions to update the current meta-memory state. The accumulated meta-memory units serve as explicit knowledge utilization experiences, guiding the LLM to systematically identify and integrate critical evidence from scattered memory fragments. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of MetaMem, which significantly outperforms strong baselines by over 3.6%. Temporal Evidence Routing with Structured Visual Evidence for TimeLogicQAYuyang Sun, Yongliang Wu, Xingyu Zhu et al.
TimeLogicQA evaluates whether video question answering systems can reason over temporal relations such as event existence, ordering, persistence, boundary conditions, and overlap. We address this task with a visual evidence routing pipeline that separates perception from symbolic temporal reasoning. The system first parses each question into event targets, answer mode, candidate options, and temporal operators. It then routes videos according to duration and operator difficulty, using ordered full-frame evidence for short clips and event-focused candidate windows for long videos. A multimodal large language model produces structured visual evidence for the relevant events, while programmatic verifiers recover dense action intervals and a deterministic reducer applies operator-specific temporal rules to produce the final answer. Conservative fusion accepts an answer only when the visual evidence, temporal program, and confidence checks agree, reducing noisy answer flips. On the official test evaluation, our final system achieves an AvgAcc of 81.8.

Dual-Route Top-K Retrieval with 1v1 VLM Reranking for the CoVR-RYuyang Sun, Yongliang Wu, Xingyu Zhu et al.
We describe \emph{Dual-Route Top-K Retrieval with 1v1 VLM Reranking} for the CoVR-R challenge. The method treats composed video retrieval as two coupled problems: finding a sufficiently complete top-k candidate set, and then safely deciding whether any candidate should replace a strong current top-1. We first improve the reasoning/text seed with a VLM slot selector over existing candidates, without introducing DFN visual retrieval. We then add a visual route from contact-sheet embeddings using DFN-H/DFN-L. The routes are merged into a top-10 candidate set, after which a VLM final reranker performs conservative 1v1 comparisons between the current top-1 and each challenger. On the hidden test split, the final system reaches 95.28 R@1, 97.47 R@5, 98.48 R@10, and 99.66 R@50. The main lesson is that CoVR-R benefits more from recall-selection decoupling than from broad text reranking or direct multi-candidate VLM classification.

Adaptive Dense Evidence Refinement for Video Relational Reasoning for VRR-QA ChallengeYuyang Sun, Yongliang Wu, Xingyu Zhu et al.
VRR-QA evaluates whether video-language systems can infer spatial, temporal, viewpoint, depth, and visibility relations that are not always resolved by a single frame. We present an inference-only system built around adaptive test-time computation. The system first answers each question with a direct video-language model pass, then uses multiple lightweight views to find unstable questions. Only these difficult questions are routed to a high-budget dense evidence module that constructs timestamped frame observations, relation-specific probes, candidate verification, and conservative temporal aggregation. This design separates two problems that are often confused in video question answering: finding plausible alternative answers and deciding when a current answer should actually be changed. On the test split, the final system obtains 90.07 average accuracy and 87.81 macro average accuracy. The report focuses on the final test system and the implementation settings required to reproduce the adaptive dense verifier.

Improved post-hoc probability calibration for out-of-domain MRI segmentationCheng Ouyang, Shuo Wang, Chen Chen et al.
Probability calibration for deep models is highly desirable in safety-critical applications such as medical imaging. It makes output probabilities of deep networks interpretable, by aligning prediction probability with the actual accuracy in test data. In image segmentation, well-calibrated probabilities allow radiologists to identify regions where model-predicted segmentations are unreliable. These unreliable predictions often occur to out-of-domain (OOD) images that are caused by imaging artifacts or unseen imaging protocols. Unfortunately, most previous calibration methods for image segmentation perform sub-optimally on OOD images. To reduce the calibration error when confronted with OOD images, we propose a novel post-hoc calibration model. Our model leverages the pixel susceptibility against perturbations at the local level, and the shape prior information at the global level. The model is tested on cardiac MRI segmentation datasets that contain unseen imaging artifacts and images from an unseen imaging protocol. We demonstrate reduced calibration errors compared with the state-of-the-art calibration algorithm.

PublicCheck: Public Integrity Verification for Services of Run-time Deep ModelsShuo Wang, Sharif Abuadbba, Sidharth Agarwal et al.
Existing integrity verification approaches for deep models are designed for private verification (i.e., assuming the service provider is honest, with white-box access to model parameters). However, private verification approaches do not allow model users to verify the model at run-time. Instead, they must trust the service provider, who may tamper with the verification results. In contrast, a public verification approach that considers the possibility of dishonest service providers can benefit a wider range of users. In this paper, we propose PublicCheck, a practical public integrity verification solution for services of run-time deep models. PublicCheck considers dishonest service providers, and overcomes public verification challenges of being lightweight, providing anti-counterfeiting protection, and having fingerprinting samples that appear smooth. To capture and fingerprint the inherent prediction behaviors of a run-time model, PublicCheck generates smoothly transformed and augmented encysted samples that are enclosed around the model's decision boundary while ensuring that the verification queries are indistinguishable from normal queries. PublicCheck is also applicable when knowledge of the target model is limited (e.g., with no knowledge of gradients or model parameters). A thorough evaluation of PublicCheck demonstrates the strong capability for model integrity breach detection (100% detection accuracy with less than 10 black-box API queries) against various model integrity attacks and model compression attacks. PublicCheck also demonstrates the smooth appearance, feasibility, and efficiency of generating a plethora of encysted samples for fingerprinting.

Multimodal machine learning for materials science: composition-structure bimodal learning for experimentally measured propertiesSheng Gong, Shuo Wang, Taishan Zhu et al.
The widespread application of multimodal machine learning models like GPT-4 has revolutionized various research fields including computer vision and natural language processing. However, its implementation in materials informatics remains underexplored, despite the presence of materials data across diverse modalities, such as composition and structure. The effectiveness of machine learning models trained on large calculated datasets depends on the accuracy of calculations, while experimental datasets often have limited data availability and incomplete information. This paper introduces a novel approach to multimodal machine learning in materials science via composition-structure bimodal learning. The proposed COmposition-Structure Bimodal Network (COSNet) is designed to enhance learning and predictions of experimentally measured materials properties that have incomplete structure information. Bimodal learning significantly reduces prediction errors across distinct materials properties including Li conductivity in solid electrolyte, band gap, refractive index, dielectric constant, energy, and magnetic moment, surpassing composition-only learning methods. Furthermore, we identified that data augmentation based on modal availability plays a pivotal role in the success of bimodal learning.
