Low-Light Image Enhancement with Wavelet-based Diffusion ModelsHai Jiang, Ao Luo, Songchen Han et al.
Diffusion models have achieved promising results in image restoration tasks, yet suffer from time-consuming, excessive computational resource consumption, and unstable restoration. To address these issues, we propose a robust and efficient Diffusion-based Low-Light image enhancement approach, dubbed DiffLL. Specifically, we present a wavelet-based conditional diffusion model (WCDM) that leverages the generative power of diffusion models to produce results with satisfactory perceptual fidelity. Additionally, it also takes advantage of the strengths of wavelet transformation to greatly accelerate inference and reduce computational resource usage without sacrificing information. To avoid chaotic content and diversity, we perform both forward diffusion and denoising in the training phase of WCDM, enabling the model to achieve stable denoising and reduce randomness during inference. Moreover, we further design a high-frequency restoration module (HFRM) that utilizes the vertical and horizontal details of the image to complement the diagonal information for better fine-grained restoration. Extensive experiments on publicly available real-world benchmarks demonstrate that our method outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods both quantitatively and visually, and it achieves remarkable improvements in efficiency compared to previous diffusion-based methods. In addition, we empirically show that the application for low-light face detection also reveals the latent practical values of our method. Implicit Identity Leakage: The Stumbling Block to Improving Deepfake Detection GeneralizationShichao Dong, Jin Wang, Renhe Ji et al.
In this paper, we analyse the generalization ability of binary classifiers for the task of deepfake detection. We find that the stumbling block to their generalization is caused by the unexpected learned identity representation on images. Termed as the Implicit Identity Leakage, this phenomenon has been qualitatively and quantitatively verified among various DNNs. Furthermore, based on such understanding, we propose a simple yet effective method named the ID-unaware Deepfake Detection Model to reduce the influence of this phenomenon. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art in both in-dataset and cross-dataset evaluation. This paper reviews the NTIRE 2022 challenge on efficient single image super-resolution with focus on the proposed solutions and results. The task of the challenge was to super-resolve an input image with a magnification factor of $\times$4 based on pairs of low and corresponding high resolution images. The aim was to design a network for single image super-resolution that achieved improvement of efficiency measured according to several metrics including runtime, parameters, FLOPs, activations, and memory consumption while at least maintaining the PSNR of 29.00dB on DIV2K validation set. IMDN is set as the baseline for efficiency measurement. The challenge had 3 tracks including the main track (runtime), sub-track one (model complexity), and sub-track two (overall performance). In the main track, the practical runtime performance of the submissions was evaluated. The rank of the teams were determined directly by the absolute value of the average runtime on the validation set and test set. In sub-track one, the number of parameters and FLOPs were considered. And the individual rankings of the two metrics were summed up to determine a final ranking in this track. In sub-track two, all of the five metrics mentioned in the description of the challenge including runtime, parameter count, FLOPs, activations, and memory consumption were considered. Similar to sub-track one, the rankings of five metrics were summed up to determine a final ranking. The challenge had 303 registered participants, and 43 teams made valid submissions. They gauge the state-of-the-art in efficient single image super-resolution.

GAFlow: Incorporating Gaussian Attention into Optical FlowAo Luo, Fan Yang, Xin Li et al.
Optical flow, or the estimation of motion fields from image sequences, is one of the fundamental problems in computer vision. Unlike most pixel-wise tasks that aim at achieving consistent representations of the same category, optical flow raises extra demands for obtaining local discrimination and smoothness, which yet is not fully explored by existing approaches. In this paper, we push Gaussian Attention (GA) into the optical flow models to accentuate local properties during representation learning and enforce the motion affinity during matching. Specifically, we introduce a novel Gaussian-Constrained Layer (GCL) which can be easily plugged into existing Transformer blocks to highlight the local neighborhood that contains fine-grained structural information. Moreover, for reliable motion analysis, we provide a new Gaussian-Guided Attention Module (GGAM) which not only inherits properties from Gaussian distribution to instinctively revolve around the neighbor fields of each point but also is empowered to put the emphasis on contextually related regions during matching. Our fully-equipped model, namely Gaussian Attention Flow network (GAFlow), naturally incorporates a series of novel Gaussian-based modules into the conventional optical flow framework for reliable motion analysis. Extensive experiments on standard optical flow datasets consistently demonstrate the exceptional performance of the proposed approach in terms of both generalization ability evaluation and online benchmark testing. RealFlow: EM-based Realistic Optical Flow Dataset Generation from VideosYunhui Han, Kunming Luo, Ao Luo et al.
Obtaining the ground truth labels from a video is challenging since the manual annotation of pixel-wise flow labels is prohibitively expensive and laborious. Besides, existing approaches try to adapt the trained model on synthetic datasets to authentic videos, which inevitably suffers from domain discrepancy and hinders the performance for real-world applications. To solve these problems, we propose RealFlow, an Expectation-Maximization based framework that can create large-scale optical flow datasets directly from any unlabeled realistic videos. Specifically, we first estimate optical flow between a pair of video frames, and then synthesize a new image from this pair based on the predicted flow. Thus the new image pairs and their corresponding flows can be regarded as a new training set. Besides, we design a Realistic Image Pair Rendering (RIPR) module that adopts softmax splatting and bi-directional hole filling techniques to alleviate the artifacts of the image synthesis. In the E-step, RIPR renders new images to create a large quantity of training data. In the M-step, we utilize the generated training data to train an optical flow network, which can be used to estimate optical flows in the next E-step. During the iterative learning steps, the capability of the flow network is gradually improved, so is the accuracy of the flow, as well as the quality of the synthesized dataset. Experimental results show that RealFlow outperforms previous dataset generation methods by a considerably large margin. Moreover, based on the generated dataset, our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance on two standard benchmarks compared with both supervised and unsupervised optical flow methods. MEFLUT: Unsupervised 1D Lookup Tables for Multi-exposure Image FusionTing Jiang, Chuan Wang, Xinpeng Li et al.
In this paper, we introduce a new approach for high-quality multi-exposure image fusion (MEF). We show that the fusion weights of an exposure can be encoded into a 1D lookup table (LUT), which takes pixel intensity value as input and produces fusion weight as output. We learn one 1D LUT for each exposure, then all the pixels from different exposures can query 1D LUT of that exposure independently for high-quality and efficient fusion. Specifically, to learn these 1D LUTs, we involve attention mechanism in various dimensions including frame, channel and spatial ones into the MEF task so as to bring us significant quality improvement over the state-of-the-art (SOTA). In addition, we collect a new MEF dataset consisting of 960 samples, 155 of which are manually tuned by professionals as ground-truth for evaluation. Our network is trained by this dataset in an unsupervised manner. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of all the newly proposed components, and results show that our approach outperforms the SOTA in our and another representative dataset SICE, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Moreover, our 1D LUT approach takes less than 4ms to run a 4K image on a PC GPU. Given its high quality, efficiency and robustness, our method has been shipped into millions of Android mobiles across multiple brands world-wide. Fast Nearest Convolution for Real-Time Efficient Image Super-ResolutionZiwei Luo, Youwei Li, Lei Yu et al.
Deep learning-based single image super-resolution (SISR) approaches have drawn much attention and achieved remarkable success on modern advanced GPUs. However, most state-of-the-art methods require a huge number of parameters, memories, and computational resources, which usually show inferior inference times when applying them to current mobile device CPUs/NPUs. In this paper, we propose a simple plain convolution network with a fast nearest convolution module (NCNet), which is NPU-friendly and can perform a reliable super-resolution in real-time. The proposed nearest convolution has the same performance as the nearest upsampling but is much faster and more suitable for Android NNAPI. Our model can be easily deployed on mobile devices with 8-bit quantization and is fully compatible with all major mobile AI accelerators. Moreover, we conduct comprehensive experiments on different tensor operations on a mobile device to illustrate the efficiency of our network architecture. Our NCNet is trained and validated on the DIV2K 3x dataset, and the comparison with other efficient SR methods demonstrated that the NCNet can achieve high fidelity SR results while using fewer inference times. Efficient One Pass Self-distillation with Zipf's Label SmoothingJiajun Liang, Linze Li, Zhaodong Bing et al.
Self-distillation exploits non-uniform soft supervision from itself during training and improves performance without any runtime cost. However, the overhead during training is often overlooked, and yet reducing time and memory overhead during training is increasingly important in the giant models' era. This paper proposes an efficient self-distillation method named Zipf's Label Smoothing (Zipf's LS), which uses the on-the-fly prediction of a network to generate soft supervision that conforms to Zipf distribution without using any contrastive samples or auxiliary parameters. Our idea comes from an empirical observation that when the network is duly trained the output values of a network's final softmax layer, after sorting by the magnitude and averaged across samples, should follow a distribution reminiscent to Zipf's Law in the word frequency statistics of natural languages. By enforcing this property on the sample level and throughout the whole training period, we find that the prediction accuracy can be greatly improved. Using ResNet50 on the INAT21 fine-grained classification dataset, our technique achieves +3.61% accuracy gain compared to the vanilla baseline, and 0.88% more gain against the previous label smoothing or self-distillation strategies. Supervised Homography Learning with Realistic Dataset GenerationHai Jiang, Haipeng Li, Songchen Han et al.
In this paper, we propose an iterative framework, which consists of two phases: a generation phase and a training phase, to generate realistic training data and yield a supervised homography network. In the generation phase, given an unlabeled image pair, we utilize the pre-estimated dominant plane masks and homography of the pair, along with another sampled homography that serves as ground truth to generate a new labeled training pair with realistic motion. In the training phase, the generated data is used to train the supervised homography network, in which the training data is refined via a content consistency module and a quality assessment module. Once an iteration is finished, the trained network is used in the next data generation phase to update the pre-estimated homography. Through such an iterative strategy, the quality of the dataset and the performance of the network can be gradually and simultaneously improved. Experimental results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance and existing supervised methods can be also improved based on the generated dataset. SeedPolicy: Horizon Scaling via Self-Evolving Diffusion Policy for Robot ManipulationYouqiang Gui, Yuxuan Zhou, Shen Cheng et al.
Imitation Learning (IL) enables robots to acquire manipulation skills from expert demonstrations. Diffusion Policy (DP) models multi-modal expert behaviors but degrades when naively increasing stacked observation horizons, limiting long-horizon manipulation. We propose Self-Evolving Gated Attention (SEGA), a temporal module that maintains a time-evolving latent state via gated attention, enabling efficient recurrent updates that accumulate long-term context into a compact latent representation while filtering irrelevant temporal information. Integrating SEGA into DP yields Self-Evolving Diffusion Policy (SeedPolicy), which resolves the temporal modeling bottleneck and extends the effective temporal horizon with moderate overhead. On the RoboTwin 2.0 benchmark with 50 manipulation tasks, SeedPolicy outperforms DP and other IL baselines. Averaged across both CNN and Transformer backbones, SeedPolicy achieves 36.8% relative improvement in clean settings and 169% relative improvement in randomized challenging settings over the DP. Compared to vision-language-action models such as RDT with 1.2B parameters, SeedPolicy achieves stronger performance in the clean setting with one to two orders of magnitude fewer parameters, demonstrating strong efficiency. Practical Stereo Matching via Cascaded Recurrent Network with Adaptive CorrelationJiankun Li, Peisen Wang, Pengfei Xiong et al.
With the advent of convolutional neural networks, stereo matching algorithms have recently gained tremendous progress. However, it remains a great challenge to accurately extract disparities from real-world image pairs taken by consumer-level devices like smartphones, due to practical complicating factors such as thin structures, non-ideal rectification, camera module inconsistencies and various hard-case scenes. In this paper, we propose a set of innovative designs to tackle the problem of practical stereo matching: 1) to better recover fine depth details, we design a hierarchical network with recurrent refinement to update disparities in a coarse-to-fine manner, as well as a stacked cascaded architecture for inference; 2) we propose an adaptive group correlation layer to mitigate the impact of erroneous rectification; 3) we introduce a new synthetic dataset with special attention to difficult cases for better generalizing to real-world scenes. Our results not only rank 1st on both Middlebury and ETH3D benchmarks, outperforming existing state-of-the-art methods by a notable margin, but also exhibit high-quality details for real-life photos, which clearly demonstrates the efficacy of our contributions.

SAM-IQA: Can Segment Anything Boost Image Quality Assessment?Xinpeng Li, Ting Jiang, Haoqiang Fan et al.
Image Quality Assessment (IQA) is a challenging task that requires training on massive datasets to achieve accurate predictions. However, due to the lack of IQA data, deep learning-based IQA methods typically rely on pre-trained networks trained on massive datasets as feature extractors to enhance their generalization ability, such as the ResNet network trained on ImageNet. In this paper, we utilize the encoder of Segment Anything, a recently proposed segmentation model trained on a massive dataset, for high-level semantic feature extraction. Most IQA methods are limited to extracting spatial-domain features, while frequency-domain features have been shown to better represent noise and blur. Therefore, we leverage both spatial-domain and frequency-domain features by applying Fourier and standard convolutions on the extracted features, respectively. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of all the proposed components, and results show that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) in four representative datasets, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Our experiments confirm the powerful feature extraction capabilities of Segment Anything and highlight the value of combining spatial-domain and frequency-domain features in IQA tasks. Efficient and Accurate Quantized Image Super-Resolution on Mobile NPUs, Mobile AI & AIM 2022 challenge: ReportAndrey Ignatov, Radu Timofte, Maurizio Denna et al.
Image super-resolution is a common task on mobile and IoT devices, where one often needs to upscale and enhance low-resolution images and video frames. While numerous solutions have been proposed for this problem in the past, they are usually not compatible with low-power mobile NPUs having many computational and memory constraints. In this Mobile AI challenge, we address this problem and propose the participants to design an efficient quantized image super-resolution solution that can demonstrate a real-time performance on mobile NPUs. The participants were provided with the DIV2K dataset and trained INT8 models to do a high-quality 3X image upscaling. The runtime of all models was evaluated on the Synaptics VS680 Smart Home board with a dedicated edge NPU capable of accelerating quantized neural networks. All proposed solutions are fully compatible with the above NPU, demonstrating an up to 60 FPS rate when reconstructing Full HD resolution images. A detailed description of all models developed in the challenge is provided in this paper.

NTIRE 2022 Challenge on High Dynamic Range Imaging: Methods and ResultsEduardo Pérez-Pellitero, Sibi Catley-Chandar, Richard Shaw et al.
This paper reviews the challenge on constrained high dynamic range (HDR) imaging that was part of the New Trends in Image Restoration and Enhancement (NTIRE) workshop, held in conjunction with CVPR 2022. This manuscript focuses on the competition set-up, datasets, the proposed methods and their results. The challenge aims at estimating an HDR image from multiple respective low dynamic range (LDR) observations, which might suffer from under- or over-exposed regions and different sources of noise. The challenge is composed of two tracks with an emphasis on fidelity and complexity constraints: In Track 1, participants are asked to optimize objective fidelity scores while imposing a low-complexity constraint (i.e. solutions can not exceed a given number of operations). In Track 2, participants are asked to minimize the complexity of their solutions while imposing a constraint on fidelity scores (i.e. solutions are required to obtain a higher fidelity score than the prescribed baseline). Both tracks use the same data and metrics: Fidelity is measured by means of PSNR with respect to a ground-truth HDR image (computed both directly and with a canonical tonemapping operation), while complexity metrics include the number of Multiply-Accumulate (MAC) operations and runtime (in seconds).

FS6D: Few-Shot 6D Pose Estimation of Novel ObjectsYisheng He, Yao Wang, Haoqiang Fan et al.
6D object pose estimation networks are limited in their capability to scale to large numbers of object instances due to the close-set assumption and their reliance on high-fidelity object CAD models. In this work, we study a new open set problem; the few-shot 6D object poses estimation: estimating the 6D pose of an unknown object by a few support views without extra training. To tackle the problem, we point out the importance of fully exploring the appearance and geometric relationship between the given support views and query scene patches and propose a dense prototypes matching framework by extracting and matching dense RGBD prototypes with transformers. Moreover, we show that the priors from diverse appearances and shapes are crucial to the generalization capability under the problem setting and thus propose a large-scale RGBD photorealistic dataset (ShapeNet6D) for network pre-training. A simple and effective online texture blending approach is also introduced to eliminate the domain gap from the synthesis dataset, which enriches appearance diversity at a low cost. BSRT: Improving Burst Super-Resolution with Swin Transformer and Flow-Guided Deformable AlignmentZiwei Luo, Youwei Li, Shen Cheng et al.
This work addresses the Burst Super-Resolution (BurstSR) task using a new architecture, which requires restoring a high-quality image from a sequence of noisy, misaligned, and low-resolution RAW bursts. To overcome the challenges in BurstSR, we propose a Burst Super-Resolution Transformer (BSRT), which can significantly improve the capability of extracting inter-frame information and reconstruction. To achieve this goal, we propose a Pyramid Flow-Guided Deformable Convolution Network (Pyramid FG-DCN) and incorporate Swin Transformer Blocks and Groups as our main backbone. More specifically, we combine optical flows and deformable convolutions, hence our BSRT can handle misalignment and aggregate the potential texture information in multi-frames more efficiently. In addition, our Transformer-based structure can capture long-range dependency to further improve the performance. The evaluation on both synthetic and real-world tracks demonstrates that our approach achieves a new state-of-the-art in BurstSR task. Further, our BSRT wins the championship in the NTIRE2022 Burst Super-Resolution Challenge.

Neural Spectral Decomposition for Dataset DistillationShaolei Yang, Shen Cheng, Mingbo Hong et al.
In this paper, we propose Neural Spectrum Decomposition, a generic decomposition framework for dataset distillation. Unlike previous methods, we consider the entire dataset as a high-dimensional observation that is low-rank across all dimensions. We aim to discover the low-rank representation of the entire dataset and perform distillation efficiently. Toward this end, we learn a set of spectrum tensors and transformation matrices, which, through simple matrix multiplication, reconstruct the data distribution. Specifically, a spectrum tensor can be mapped back to the image space by a transformation matrix, and efficient information sharing during the distillation learning process is achieved through pairwise combinations of different spectrum vectors and transformation matrices. Furthermore, we integrate a trajectory matching optimization method guided by a real distribution. Our experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance on benchmarks, including CIFAR10, CIFAR100, Tiny Imagenet, and ImageNet Subset. Explaining Deepfake Detection by Analysing Image MatchingShichao Dong, Jin Wang, Jiajun Liang et al.
This paper aims to interpret how deepfake detection models learn artifact features of images when just supervised by binary labels. To this end, three hypotheses from the perspective of image matching are proposed as follows. 1. Deepfake detection models indicate real/fake images based on visual concepts that are neither source-relevant nor target-relevant, that is, considering such visual concepts as artifact-relevant. 2. Besides the supervision of binary labels, deepfake detection models implicitly learn artifact-relevant visual concepts through the FST-Matching (i.e. the matching fake, source, target images) in the training set. 3. Implicitly learned artifact visual concepts through the FST-Matching in the raw training set are vulnerable to video compression. In experiments, the above hypotheses are verified among various DNNs. Furthermore, based on this understanding, we propose the FST-Matching Deepfake Detection Model to boost the performance of forgery detection on compressed videos. Experiment results show that our method achieves great performance, especially on highly-compressed (e.g. c40) videos.

DIPNet: Efficiency Distillation and Iterative Pruning for Image Super-ResolutionLei Yu, Xinpeng Li, Youwei Li et al.
Efficient deep learning-based approaches have achieved remarkable performance in single image super-resolution. However, recent studies on efficient super-resolution have mainly focused on reducing the number of parameters and floating-point operations through various network designs. Although these methods can decrease the number of parameters and floating-point operations, they may not necessarily reduce actual running time. To address this issue, we propose a novel multi-stage lightweight network boosting method, which can enable lightweight networks to achieve outstanding performance. Specifically, we leverage enhanced high-resolution output as additional supervision to improve the learning ability of lightweight student networks. Upon convergence of the student network, we further simplify our network structure to a more lightweight level using reparameterization techniques and iterative network pruning. Meanwhile, we adopt an effective lightweight network training strategy that combines multi-anchor distillation and progressive learning, enabling the lightweight network to achieve outstanding performance. Ultimately, our proposed method achieves the fastest inference time among all participants in the NTIRE 2023 efficient super-resolution challenge while maintaining competitive super-resolution performance. Additionally, extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed components. The results show that our approach achieves comparable performance in representative dataset DIV2K, both qualitatively and quantitatively, with faster inference and fewer number of network parameters.

Towards Self-Supervised Category-Level Object Pose and Size EstimationYisheng He, Haoqiang Fan, Haibin Huang et al.
In this work, we tackle the challenging problem of category-level object pose and size estimation from a single depth image. Although previous fully-supervised works have demonstrated promising performance, collecting ground-truth pose labels is generally time-consuming and labor-intensive. Instead, we propose a label-free method that learns to enforce the geometric consistency between category template mesh and observed object point cloud under a self-supervision manner. Specifically, our method consists of three key components: differentiable shape deformation, registration, and rendering. In particular, shape deformation and registration are applied to the template mesh to eliminate the differences in shape, pose and scale. A differentiable renderer is then deployed to enforce geometric consistency between point clouds lifted from the rendered depth and the observed scene for self-supervision. We evaluate our approach on real-world datasets and find that our approach outperforms the simple traditional baseline by large margins while being competitive with some fully-supervised approaches.

Efficient Hybrid SE(3)-Equivariant Visuomotor Flow Policy via Spherical Harmonics for Robot ManipulationQinglun Zhang, Shen Cheng, Tian Dan et al.
While existing equivariant methods enhance data efficiency, they suffer from high computational intensity, reliance on single-modality inputs, and instability when combined with fast-sampling methods. In this work, we propose E3Flow, a novel framework that addresses the critical limitations of equivariant diffusion policies. E3Flow overcomes these challenges, successfully unifying efficient rectified flow with stable, multi-modal equivariant learning for the first time. Our framework is built upon spherical harmonic representations to ensure rigorous SO(3) equivariance. We introduce a novel invariant Feature Enhancement Module (FEM) that dynamically fuses hybrid visual modalities (point clouds and images), injecting rich visual cues into the spherical harmonic features. We evaluate E3Flow on 8 manipulation tasks from the MimicGen and further conduct 4 real-world experiments to validate its effectiveness in physical environments. Simulation results show that E3Flow achieves a 3.12% improvement in average success rate over the state-of-the-art Spherical Diffusion Policy (SDP) while simultaneously delivering a 7x inference speedup. MegActor-$Σ$: Unlocking Flexible Mixed-Modal Control in Portrait Animation with Diffusion TransformerShurong Yang, Huadong Li, Juhao Wu et al.
Diffusion models have demonstrated superior performance in the field of portrait animation. However, current approaches relied on either visual or audio modality to control character movements, failing to exploit the potential of mixed-modal control. This challenge arises from the difficulty in balancing the weak control strength of audio modality and the strong control strength of visual modality. To address this issue, we introduce MegActor-$Σ$: a mixed-modal conditional diffusion transformer (DiT), which can flexibly inject audio and visual modality control signals into portrait animation. Specifically, we make substantial advancements over its predecessor, MegActor, by leveraging the promising model structure of DiT and integrating audio and visual conditions through advanced modules within the DiT framework. To further achieve flexible combinations of mixed-modal control signals, we propose a ``Modality Decoupling Control" training strategy to balance the control strength between visual and audio modalities, along with the ``Amplitude Adjustment" inference strategy to freely regulate the motion amplitude of each modality. Finally, to facilitate extensive studies in this field, we design several dataset evaluation metrics to filter out public datasets and solely use this filtered dataset to train MegActor-$Σ$. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our approach in generating vivid portrait animations, outperforming previous methods trained on private dataset.

Diff-Shadow: Global-guided Diffusion Model for Shadow RemovalJinting Luo, Ru Li, Chengzhi Jiang et al.
We propose Diff-Shadow, a global-guided diffusion model for shadow removal. Previous transformer-based approaches can utilize global information to relate shadow and non-shadow regions but are limited in their synthesis ability and recover images with obvious boundaries. In contrast, diffusion-based methods can generate better content but they are not exempt from issues related to inconsistent illumination. In this work, we combine the advantages of diffusion models and global guidance to achieve shadow-free restoration. Specifically, we propose a parallel UNets architecture: 1) the local branch performs the patch-based noise estimation in the diffusion process, and 2) the global branch recovers the low-resolution shadow-free images. A Reweight Cross Attention (RCA) module is designed to integrate global contextual information of non-shadow regions into the local branch. We further design a Global-guided Sampling Strategy (GSS) that mitigates patch boundary issues and ensures consistent illumination across shaded and unshaded regions in the recovered image. Comprehensive experiments on datasets ISTD, ISTD+, and SRD have demonstrated the effectiveness of Diff-Shadow. Compared to state-of-the-art methods, our method achieves a significant improvement in terms of PSNR, increasing from 32.33dB to 33.69dB on the ISTD dataset.

RoboMatrix: A Skill-centric Hierarchical Framework for Scalable Robot Task Planning and Execution in Open-WorldWeixin Mao, Weiheng Zhong, Zhou Jiang et al.
Existing robot policies predominantly adopt the task-centric approach, requiring end-to-end task data collection. This results in limited generalization to new tasks and difficulties in pinpointing errors within long-horizon, multi-stage tasks. To address this, we propose RoboMatrix, a skill-centric hierarchical framework designed for scalable robot task planning and execution in open-world environments. RoboMatrix extracts general meta-skills from diverse complex tasks, enabling the completion of unseen tasks through skill composition. Its architecture consists of a high-level scheduling layer that utilizes large language models (LLMs) for task decomposition, an intermediate skill layer housing meta-skill models, and a low-level hardware layer for robot control. A key innovation of our work is the introduction of the first unified vision-language-action (VLA) model capable of seamlessly integrating both movement and manipulation within one model. This is achieved by combining vision and language prompts to generate discrete actions. Experimental results demonstrate that RoboMatrix achieves a 50% higher success rate than task-centric baselines when applied to unseen objects, scenes, and tasks. SpatialActor: Exploring Disentangled Spatial Representations for Robust Robotic ManipulationHao Shi, Bin Xie, Yingfei Liu et al.
Robotic manipulation requires precise spatial understanding to interact with objects in the real world. Point-based methods suffer from sparse sampling, leading to the loss of fine-grained semantics. Image-based methods typically feed RGB and depth into 2D backbones pre-trained on 3D auxiliary tasks, but their entangled semantics and geometry are sensitive to inherent depth noise in real-world that disrupts semantic understanding. Moreover, these methods focus on high-level geometry while overlooking low-level spatial cues essential for precise interaction. We propose SpatialActor, a disentangled framework for robust robotic manipulation that explicitly decouples semantics and geometry. The Semantic-guided Geometric Module adaptively fuses two complementary geometry from noisy depth and semantic-guided expert priors. Also, a Spatial Transformer leverages low-level spatial cues for accurate 2D-3D mapping and enables interaction among spatial features. We evaluate SpatialActor on multiple simulation and real-world scenarios across 50+ tasks. It achieves state-of-the-art performance with 87.4% on RLBench and improves by 13.9% to 19.4% under varying noisy conditions, showing strong robustness. You Only Look Around: Learning Illumination Invariant Feature for Low-light Object DetectionMingbo Hong, Shen Cheng, Haibin Huang et al.
In this paper, we introduce YOLA, a novel framework for object detection in low-light scenarios. Unlike previous works, we propose to tackle this challenging problem from the perspective of feature learning. Specifically, we propose to learn illumination-invariant features through the Lambertian image formation model. We observe that, under the Lambertian assumption, it is feasible to approximate illumination-invariant feature maps by exploiting the interrelationships between neighboring color channels and spatially adjacent pixels. By incorporating additional constraints, these relationships can be characterized in the form of convolutional kernels, which can be trained in a detection-driven manner within a network. Towards this end, we introduce a novel module dedicated to the extraction of illumination-invariant features from low-light images, which can be easily integrated into existing object detection frameworks. Our empirical findings reveal significant improvements in low-light object detection tasks, as well as promising results in both well-lit and over-lit scenarios. Realtime-VLA V2: Learning to Run VLAs Fast, Smooth, and AccurateChen Yang, Yucheng Hu, Yunchao Ma et al.
In deployment of the VLA models to real-world robotic tasks, execution speed matters. In previous work arXiv:2510.26742 we analyze how to make neural computation of VLAs on GPU fast. However, we leave the question of how to actually deploy the VLA system on the real robots open. In this report we describe a set of practical techniques to achieve the end-to-end result of running a VLA-driven robot at an impressive speed in real world tasks that require both accuracy and dexterity. The stack of technology ranges across calibration, planning & control, and learning based method to identify optimal execution speed. In the tasks we show, the robot even executes in a speed on par with casual human operation and approaching the hardware limit of our lightweight arm. Robotic Scene Cloning:Advancing Zero-Shot Robotic Scene Adaptation in Manipulation via Visual Prompt EditingBinyuan Huang, Yuqing Wen, Yucheng Zhao et al.
Modern robots can perform a wide range of simple tasks and adapt to diverse scenarios in the well-trained environment. However, deploying pre-trained robot models in real-world user scenarios remains challenging due to their limited zero-shot capabilities, often necessitating extensive on-site data collection. To address this issue, we propose Robotic Scene Cloning (RSC), a novel method designed for scene-specific adaptation by editing existing robot operation trajectories. RSC achieves accurate and scene-consistent sample generation by leveraging a visual prompting mechanism and a carefully tuned condition injection module. Not only transferring textures but also performing moderate shape adaptations in response to the visual prompts, RSC demonstrates reliable task performance across a variety of object types. Experiments across various simulated and real-world environments demonstrate that RSC significantly enhances policy generalization in target environments.

Grounding Beyond Detection: Enhancing Contextual Understanding in Embodied 3D GroundingYani Zhang, Dongming Wu, Hao Shi et al.
Embodied 3D grounding aims to localize target objects described in human instructions from ego-centric viewpoint. Most methods typically follow a two-stage paradigm where a trained 3D detector's optimized backbone parameters are used to initialize a grounding model. In this study, we explore a fundamental question: Does embodied 3D grounding benefit enough from detection? To answer this question, we assess the grounding performance of detection models using predicted boxes filtered by the target category. Surprisingly, these detection models without any instruction-specific training outperform the grounding models explicitly trained with language instructions. This indicates that even category-level embodied 3D grounding may not be well resolved, let alone more fine-grained context-aware grounding. Motivated by this finding, we propose DEGround, which shares DETR queries as object representation for both DEtection and Grounding and enables the grounding to benefit from basic category classification and box detection. Based on this framework, we further introduce a regional activation grounding module that highlights instruction-related regions and a query-wise modulation module that incorporates sentence-level semantic into the query representation, strengthening the context-aware understanding of language instructions. Remarkably, DEGround outperforms state-of-the-art model BIP3D by 7.52% at overall accuracy on the EmbodiedScan validation set. HeRO: Hierarchical 3D Semantic Representation for Pose-aware Object ManipulationChongyang Xu, Shen Cheng, Haipeng Li et al.
Imitation learning for robotic manipulation has progressed from 2D image policies to 3D representations that explicitly encode geometry. Yet purely geometric policies often lack explicit part-level semantics, which are critical for pose-aware manipulation (e.g., distinguishing a shoe's toe from heel). In this paper, we present HeRO, a diffusion-based policy that couples geometry and semantics via hierarchical semantic fields. HeRO employs dense semantics lifting to fuse discriminative, geometry-sensitive features from DINOv2 with the smooth, globally coherent correspondences from Stable Diffusion, yielding dense features that are both fine-grained and spatially consistent. These features are processed and partitioned to construct a global field and a set of local fields. A hierarchical conditioning module conditions the generative denoiser on global and local fields using permutation-invariant network architecture, thereby avoiding order-sensitive bias and producing a coherent control policy for pose-aware manipulation. In various tests, HeRO establishes a new state-of-the-art, improving success on Place Dual Shoes by 12.3% and averaging 6.5% gains across six challenging pose-aware tasks. Motion Basis Learning for Unsupervised Deep Homography Estimation with Subspace ProjectionNianjin Ye, Chuan Wang, Haoqiang Fan et al.
In this paper, we introduce a new framework for unsupervised deep homography estimation. Our contributions are 3 folds. First, unlike previous methods that regress 4 offsets for a homography, we propose a homography flow representation, which can be estimated by a weighted sum of 8 pre-defined homography flow bases. Second, considering a homography contains 8 Degree-of-Freedoms (DOFs) that is much less than the rank of the network features, we propose a Low Rank Representation (LRR) block that reduces the feature rank, so that features corresponding to the dominant motions are retained while others are rejected. Last, we propose a Feature Identity Loss (FIL) to enforce the learned image feature warp-equivariant, meaning that the result should be identical if the order of warp operation and feature extraction is swapped. With this constraint, the unsupervised optimization is achieved more effectively and more stable features are learned. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of all the newly proposed components, and results show that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art on the homography benchmark datasets both qualitatively and quantitatively. D2C-SR: A Divergence to Convergence Approach for Real-World Image Super-ResolutionYouwei Li, Haibin Huang, Lanpeng Jia et al.
In this paper, we present D2C-SR, a novel framework for the task of real-world image super-resolution. As an ill-posed problem, the key challenge in super-resolution related tasks is there can be multiple predictions for a given low-resolution input. Most classical deep learning based approaches ignored the fundamental fact and lack explicit modeling of the underlying high-frequency distribution which leads to blurred results. Recently, some methods of GAN-based or learning super-resolution space can generate simulated textures but do not promise the accuracy of the textures which have low quantitative performance. Rethinking both, we learn the distribution of underlying high-frequency details in a discrete form and propose a two-stage pipeline: divergence stage to convergence stage. At divergence stage, we propose a tree-based structure deep network as our divergence backbone. Divergence loss is proposed to encourage the generated results from the tree-based network to diverge into possible high-frequency representations, which is our way of discretely modeling the underlying high-frequency distribution. At convergence stage, we assign spatial weights to fuse these divergent predictions to obtain the final output with more accurate details. Our approach provides a convenient end-to-end manner to inference. We conduct evaluations on several real-world benchmarks, including a new proposed D2CRealSR dataset with x8 scaling factor. Our experiments demonstrate that D2C-SR achieves better accuracy and visual improvements against state-of-the-art methods, with a significantly less parameters number and our D2C structure can also be applied as a generalized structure to some other methods to obtain improvement. FFB6D: A Full Flow Bidirectional Fusion Network for 6D Pose EstimationYisheng He, Haibin Huang, Haoqiang Fan et al.
In this work, we present FFB6D, a Full Flow Bidirectional fusion network designed for 6D pose estimation from a single RGBD image. Our key insight is that appearance information in the RGB image and geometry information from the depth image are two complementary data sources, and it still remains unknown how to fully leverage them. Towards this end, we propose FFB6D, which learns to combine appearance and geometry information for representation learning as well as output representation selection. Specifically, at the representation learning stage, we build bidirectional fusion modules in the full flow of the two networks, where fusion is applied to each encoding and decoding layer. In this way, the two networks can leverage local and global complementary information from the other one to obtain better representations. Moreover, at the output representation stage, we designed a simple but effective 3D keypoints selection algorithm considering the texture and geometry information of objects, which simplifies keypoint localization for precise pose estimation. PVN3D: A Deep Point-wise 3D Keypoints Voting Network for 6DoF Pose EstimationYisheng He, Wei Sun, Haibin Huang et al.
In this work, we present a novel data-driven method for robust 6DoF object pose estimation from a single RGBD image. Unlike previous methods that directly regressing pose parameters, we tackle this challenging task with a keypoint-based approach. Specifically, we propose a deep Hough voting network to detect 3D keypoints of objects and then estimate the 6D pose parameters within a least-squares fitting manner. Our method is a natural extension of 2D-keypoint approaches that successfully work on RGB based 6DoF estimation. It allows us to fully utilize the geometric constraint of rigid objects with the extra depth information and is easy for a network to learn and optimize. Extensive experiments were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of 3D-keypoint detection in the 6D pose estimation task. Learning Raw Image Denoising with Bayer Pattern Unification and Bayer Preserving AugmentationJiaming Liu, Chi-Hao Wu, Yuzhi Wang et al.
In this paper, we present new data pre-processing and augmentation techniques for DNN-based raw image denoising. Compared with traditional RGB image denoising, performing this task on direct camera sensor readings presents new challenges such as how to effectively handle various Bayer patterns from different data sources, and subsequently how to perform valid data augmentation with raw images. To address the first problem, we propose a Bayer pattern unification (BayerUnify) method to unify different Bayer patterns. This allows us to fully utilize a heterogeneous dataset to train a single denoising model instead of training one model for each pattern. Furthermore, while it is essential to augment the dataset to improve model generalization and performance, we discovered that it is error-prone to modify raw images by adapting augmentation methods designed for RGB images. Towards this end, we present a Bayer preserving augmentation (BayerAug) method as an effective approach for raw image augmentation. Combining these data processing technqiues with a modified U-Net, our method achieves a PSNR of 52.11 and a SSIM of 0.9969 in NTIRE 2019 Real Image Denoising Challenge, demonstrating the state-of-the-art performance. Deep Fusion Network for Image CompletionXin Hong, Pengfei Xiong, Renhe Ji et al.
Deep image completion usually fails to harmonically blend the restored image into existing content, especially in the boundary area. This paper handles with this problem from a new perspective of creating a smooth transition and proposes a concise Deep Fusion Network (DFNet). Firstly, a fusion block is introduced to generate a flexible alpha composition map for combining known and unknown regions. The fusion block not only provides a smooth fusion between restored and existing content, but also provides an attention map to make network focus more on the unknown pixels. In this way, it builds a bridge for structural and texture information, so that information can be naturally propagated from known region into completion. Furthermore, fusion blocks are embedded into several decoder layers of the network. Accompanied by the adjustable loss constraints on each layer, more accurate structure information are achieved. We qualitatively and quantitatively compare our method with other state-of-the-art methods on Places2 and CelebA datasets. The results show the superior performance of DFNet, especially in the aspects of harmonious texture transition, texture detail and semantic structural consistency. RoboGSim: A Real2Sim2Real Robotic Gaussian Splatting SimulatorXinhai Li, Jialin Li, Ziheng Zhang et al.
Efficient acquisition of real-world embodied data has been increasingly critical. However, large-scale demonstrations captured by remote operation tend to take extremely high costs and fail to scale up the data size in an efficient manner. Sampling the episodes under a simulated environment is a promising way for large-scale collection while existing simulators fail to high-fidelity modeling on texture and physics. To address these limitations, we introduce the RoboGSim, a real2sim2real robotic simulator, powered by 3D Gaussian Splatting and the physics engine. RoboGSim mainly includes four parts: Gaussian Reconstructor, Digital Twins Builder, Scene Composer, and Interactive Engine. It can synthesize the simulated data with novel views, objects, trajectories, and scenes. RoboGSim also provides an online, reproducible, and safe evaluation for different manipulation policies. The real2sim and sim2real transfer experiments show a high consistency in the texture and physics. We compared the test results of RoboGSim data and real robot data on both RoboGSim and real robot platforms. The experimental results show that the RoboGSim data model can achieve zero-shot performance on the real robot, with results comparable to real robot data. Additionally, in experiments with novel perspectives and novel scenes, the RoboGSim data model performed even better on the real robot than the real robot data model. This not only helps reduce the sim2real gap but also addresses the limitations of real robot data collection, such as its single-source and high cost. Ross3D: Reconstructive Visual Instruction Tuning with 3D-AwarenessHaochen Wang, Yucheng Zhao, Tiancai Wang et al.
The rapid development of Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) for 2D images and videos has spurred efforts to adapt these models for interpreting 3D scenes. However, the absence of large-scale 3D vision-language datasets has posed a significant obstacle. To address this issue, typical approaches focus on injecting 3D awareness into 2D LMMs by designing 3D input-level scene representations. This work provides a new perspective. We introduce reconstructive visual instruction tuning with 3D-awareness (Ross3D), which integrates 3D-aware visual supervision into the training procedure. Specifically, it incorporates cross-view and global-view reconstruction. The former requires reconstructing masked views by aggregating overlapping information from other views. The latter aims to aggregate information from all available views to recover Bird's-Eye-View images, contributing to a comprehensive overview of the entire scene. Empirically, Ross3D achieves state-of-the-art performance across various 3D scene understanding benchmarks. More importantly, our semi-supervised experiments demonstrate significant potential in leveraging large amounts of unlabeled 3D vision-only data.

MemoryVLA: Perceptual-Cognitive Memory in Vision-Language-Action Models for Robotic ManipulationHao Shi, Bin Xie, Yingfei Liu et al.
Temporal context is essential for robotic manipulation because such tasks are inherently non-Markovian, yet mainstream VLA models typically overlook it and struggle with long-horizon, temporally dependent tasks. Cognitive science suggests that humans rely on working memory to buffer short-lived representations for immediate control, while the hippocampal system preserves verbatim episodic details and semantic gist of past experience for long-term memory. Inspired by these mechanisms, we propose MemoryVLA, a Cognition-Memory-Action framework for long-horizon robotic manipulation. A pretrained VLM encodes the observation into perceptual and cognitive tokens that form working memory, while a Perceptual-Cognitive Memory Bank stores low-level details and high-level semantics consolidated from it. Working memory retrieves decision-relevant entries from the bank, adaptively fuses them with current tokens, and updates the bank by merging redundancies. Using these tokens, a memory-conditioned diffusion action expert yields temporally aware action sequences. We evaluate MemoryVLA on 150+ simulation and real-world tasks across three robots. On SimplerEnv-Bridge, Fractal, and LIBERO-5 suites, it achieves 71.9%, 72.7%, and 96.5% success rates, respectively, all outperforming state-of-the-art baselines CogACT and pi-0, with a notable +14.6 gain on Bridge. On 12 real-world tasks spanning general skills and long-horizon temporal dependencies, MemoryVLA achieves 84.0% success rate, with long-horizon tasks showing a +26 improvement over state-of-the-art baseline. Multi-GraspLLM: A Multimodal LLM for Multi-Hand Semantic Guided Grasp GenerationHaosheng Li, Weixin Mao, Weipeng Deng et al.
Multi-hand semantic grasp generation aims to generate feasible and semantically appropriate grasp poses for different robotic hands based on natural language instructions. Although the task is highly valuable, due to the lack of multihand grasp datasets with fine-grained contact description between robotic hands and objects, it is still a long-standing difficult task. In this paper, we present Multi-GraspSet, the first large-scale multi-hand grasp dataset with automatically contact annotations. Based on Multi-GraspSet, we propose Multi-GraspLLM, a unified language-guided grasp generation framework, which leverages large language models (LLM) to handle variable-length sequences, generating grasp poses for diverse robotic hands in a single unified architecture. Multi-GraspLLM first aligns the encoded point cloud features and text features into a unified semantic space. It then generates grasp bin tokens that are subsequently converted into grasp pose for each robotic hand via hand-aware linear mapping. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach significantly outperforms existing methods in both real-world experiments and simulator. Benchmarking Generalizable Bimanual Manipulation: RoboTwin Dual-Arm Collaboration Challenge at CVPR 2025 MEIS WorkshopTianxing Chen, Kaixuan Wang, Zhaohui Yang et al.
Embodied Artificial Intelligence (Embodied AI) is an emerging frontier in robotics, driven by the need for autonomous systems that can perceive, reason, and act in complex physical environments. While single-arm systems have shown strong task performance, collaborative dual-arm systems are essential for handling more intricate tasks involving rigid, deformable, and tactile-sensitive objects. To advance this goal, we launched the RoboTwin Dual-Arm Collaboration Challenge at the 2nd MEIS Workshop, CVPR 2025. Built on the RoboTwin Simulation platform (1.0 and 2.0) and the AgileX COBOT-Magic Robot platform, the competition consisted of three stages: Simulation Round 1, Simulation Round 2, and a final Real-World Round. Participants totally tackled 17 dual-arm manipulation tasks, covering rigid, deformable, and tactile-based scenarios. The challenge attracted 64 global teams and over 400 participants, producing top-performing solutions like SEM and AnchorDP3 and generating valuable insights into generalizable bimanual policy learning. This report outlines the competition setup, task design, evaluation methodology, key findings and future direction, aiming to support future research on robust and generalizable bimanual manipulation policies. BFA: Best-Feature-Aware Fusion for Multi-View Fine-grained ManipulationZihan Lan, Weixin Mao, Haosheng Li et al.
In real-world scenarios, multi-view cameras are typically employed for fine-grained manipulation tasks. Existing approaches (e.g., ACT) tend to treat multi-view features equally and directly concatenate them for policy learning. However, it will introduce redundant visual information and bring higher computational costs, leading to ineffective manipulation. For a fine-grained manipulation task, it tends to involve multiple stages while the most contributed view for different stages is varied over time. In this paper, we propose a plug-and-play best-feature-aware (BFA) fusion strategy for multi-view manipulation tasks, which is adaptable to various policies. Built upon the visual backbone of the policy network, we design a lightweight network to predict the importance score of each view. Based on the predicted importance scores, the reweighted multi-view features are subsequently fused and input into the end-to-end policy network, enabling seamless integration. Notably, our method demonstrates outstanding performance in fine-grained manipulations. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms multiple baselines by 22-46% success rate on different tasks. Our work provides new insights and inspiration for tackling key challenges in fine-grained manipulations.

ROSA: Harnessing Robot States for Vision-Language and Action AlignmentYuqing Wen, Kefan Gu, Haoxuan Liu et al.
Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have recently made significant advance in multi-task, end-to-end robotic control, due to the strong generalization capabilities of Vision-Language Models (VLMs). A fundamental challenge in developing such models is effectively aligning the vision-language space with the robotic action space. Existing approaches typically rely on directly fine-tuning VLMs using expert demonstrations. However, this strategy suffers from a spatio-temporal gap, resulting in considerable data inefficiency and heavy reliance on human labor. Spatially, VLMs operate within a high-level semantic space, whereas robotic actions are grounded in low-level 3D physical space; temporally, VLMs primarily interpret the present, while VLA models anticipate future actions. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel training paradigm, ROSA, which leverages robot state estimation to improve alignment between vision-language and action spaces. By integrating robot state estimation data obtained via an automated process, ROSA enables the VLA model to gain enhanced spatial understanding and self-awareness, thereby boosting performance and generalization. Extensive experiments in both simulated and real-world environments demonstrate the effectiveness of ROSA, particularly in low-data regimes.

Realistic Noise Synthesis with Diffusion ModelsQi Wu, Mingyan Han, Ting Jiang et al.
Deep denoising models require extensive real-world training data, which is challenging to acquire. Current noise synthesis techniques struggle to accurately model complex noise distributions. We propose a novel Realistic Noise Synthesis Diffusor (RNSD) method using diffusion models to address these challenges. By encoding camera settings into a time-aware camera-conditioned affine modulation (TCCAM), RNSD generates more realistic noise distributions under various camera conditions. Additionally, RNSD integrates a multi-scale content-aware module (MCAM), enabling the generation of structured noise with spatial correlations across multiple frequencies. We also introduce Deep Image Prior Sampling (DIPS), a learnable sampling sequence based on depth image prior, which significantly accelerates the sampling process while maintaining the high quality of synthesized noise. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our RNSD method significantly outperforms existing techniques in synthesizing realistic noise under multiple metrics and improving image denoising performance.

Deep Constrained Least Squares for Blind Image Super-ResolutionZiwei Luo, Haibin Huang, Lei Yu et al.
In this paper, we tackle the problem of blind image super-resolution(SR) with a reformulated degradation model and two novel modules. Following the common practices of blind SR, our method proposes to improve both the kernel estimation as well as the kernel-based high-resolution image restoration. To be more specific, we first reformulate the degradation model such that the deblurring kernel estimation can be transferred into the low-resolution space. On top of this, we introduce a dynamic deep linear filter module. Instead of learning a fixed kernel for all images, it can adaptively generate deblurring kernel weights conditional on the input and yield a more robust kernel estimation. Subsequently, a deep constrained least square filtering module is applied to generate clean features based on the reformulation and estimated kernel. The deblurred feature and the low input image feature are then fed into a dual-path structured SR network and restore the final high-resolution result. To evaluate our method, we further conduct evaluations on several benchmarks, including Gaussian8 and DIV2KRK. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better accuracy and visual improvements against state-of-the-art methods.

Learning Optical Flow with Adaptive Graph ReasoningAo Luo, Fan Yang, Kunming Luo et al.
Estimating per-pixel motion between video frames, known as optical flow, is a long-standing problem in video understanding and analysis. Most contemporary optical flow techniques largely focus on addressing the cross-image matching with feature similarity, with few methods considering how to explicitly reason over the given scene for achieving a holistic motion understanding. In this work, taking a fresh perspective, we introduce a novel graph-based approach, called adaptive graph reasoning for optical flow (AGFlow), to emphasize the value of scene/context information in optical flow. Our key idea is to decouple the context reasoning from the matching procedure, and exploit scene information to effectively assist motion estimation by learning to reason over the adaptive graph. The proposed AGFlow can effectively exploit the context information and incorporate it within the matching procedure, producing more robust and accurate results. On both Sintel clean and final passes, our AGFlow achieves the best accuracy with EPE of 1.43 and 2.47 pixels, outperforming state-of-the-art approaches by 11.2% and 13.6%, respectively.

iShape: A First Step Towards Irregular Shape Instance SegmentationLei Yang, Yan Zi Wei, Yisheng HE et al.
In this paper, we introduce a brand new dataset to promote the study of instance segmentation for objects with irregular shapes. Our key observation is that though irregularly shaped objects widely exist in daily life and industrial scenarios, they received little attention in the instance segmentation field due to the lack of corresponding datasets. To fill this gap, we propose iShape, an irregular shape dataset for instance segmentation. iShape contains six sub-datasets with one real and five synthetics, each represents a scene of a typical irregular shape. Unlike most existing instance segmentation datasets of regular objects, iShape has many characteristics that challenge existing instance segmentation algorithms, such as large overlaps between bounding boxes of instances, extreme aspect ratios, and large numbers of connected components per instance. We benchmark popular instance segmentation methods on iShape and find their performance drop dramatically. Hence, we propose an affinity-based instance segmentation algorithm, called ASIS, as a stronger baseline. ASIS explicitly combines perception and reasoning to solve Arbitrary Shape Instance Segmentation including irregular objects. This paper reviews the NTIRE2021 challenge on burst super-resolution. Given a RAW noisy burst as input, the task in the challenge was to generate a clean RGB image with 4 times higher resolution. The challenge contained two tracks; Track 1 evaluating on synthetically generated data, and Track 2 using real-world bursts from mobile camera. In the final testing phase, 6 teams submitted results using a diverse set of solutions. The top-performing methods set a new state-of-the-art for the burst super-resolution task.

ADNet: Attention-guided Deformable Convolutional Network for High Dynamic Range ImagingZhen Liu, Wenjie Lin, Xinpeng Li et al.
In this paper, we present an attention-guided deformable convolutional network for hand-held multi-frame high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, namely ADNet. This problem comprises two intractable challenges of how to handle saturation and noise properly and how to tackle misalignments caused by object motion or camera jittering. To address the former, we adopt a spatial attention module to adaptively select the most appropriate regions of various exposure low dynamic range (LDR) images for fusion. For the latter one, we propose to align the gamma-corrected images in the feature-level with a Pyramid, Cascading and Deformable (PCD) alignment module. The proposed ADNet shows state-of-the-art performance compared with previous methods, achieving a PSNR-$l$ of 39.4471 and a PSNR-$μ$ of 37.6359 in NTIRE 2021 Multi-Frame HDR Challenge.

Fast Camera Image Denoising on Mobile GPUs with Deep Learning, Mobile AI 2021 Challenge: ReportAndrey Ignatov, Kim Byeoung-su, Radu Timofte et al.
Image denoising is one of the most critical problems in mobile photo processing. While many solutions have been proposed for this task, they are usually working with synthetic data and are too computationally expensive to run on mobile devices. To address this problem, we introduce the first Mobile AI challenge, where the target is to develop an end-to-end deep learning-based image denoising solution that can demonstrate high efficiency on smartphone GPUs. For this, the participants were provided with a novel large-scale dataset consisting of noisy-clean image pairs captured in the wild. The runtime of all models was evaluated on the Samsung Exynos 2100 chipset with a powerful Mali GPU capable of accelerating floating-point and quantized neural networks. The proposed solutions are fully compatible with any mobile GPU and are capable of processing 480p resolution images under 40-80 ms while achieving high fidelity results. A detailed description of all models developed in the challenge is provided in this paper.
