CycleMix: A Holistic Strategy for Medical Image Segmentation from Scribble Supervision

Curating a large set of fully annotated training data can be costly, especially for the tasks of medical image segmentation. Scribble, a weaker form of annotation, is more obtainable in practice, but training segmentation models from limited supervision of scribbles is still challenging. To address the difficulties, we propose a new framework for scribble learning-based medical image segmentation, which is composed of mix augmentation and cycle consistency and thus is referred to as CycleMix. For augmentation of supervision, CycleMix adopts the mixup strategy with a dedicated design of random occlusion, to perform increments and decrements of scribbles. For regularization of supervision, CycleMix intensifies the training objective with consistency losses to penalize inconsistent segmentation, which results in significant improvement of segmentation performance. Results on two open datasets, i.e., ACDC and MSCMRseg, showed that the proposed method achieved exhilarating performance, demonstrating comparable or even better accuracy than the fully-supervised methods. ShapePU: A New PU Learning Framework Regularized by Global Consistency for Scribble Supervised Cardiac Segmentation

Cardiac segmentation is an essential step for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. However, pixel-wise dense labeling is both costly and time-consuming. Scribble, as a form of sparse annotation, is more accessible than full annotations. However, it's particularly challenging to train a segmentation network with weak supervision from scribbles. To tackle this problem, we propose a new scribble-guided method for cardiac segmentation, based on the Positive-Unlabeled (PU) learning framework and global consistency regularization, and termed as ShapePU. To leverage unlabeled pixels via PU learning, we first present an Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm to estimate the proportion of each class in the unlabeled pixels. Given the estimated ratios, we then introduce the marginal probability maximization to identify the classes of unlabeled pixels. To exploit shape knowledge, we apply cutout operations to training images, and penalize the inconsistent segmentation results. Evaluated on two open datasets, i.e, ACDC and MSCMRseg, our scribble-supervised ShapePU surpassed the fully supervised approach respectively by 1.4% and 9.8% in average Dice, and outperformed the state-of-the-art weakly supervised and PU learning methods by large margins. TANDEM: Bi-Level Data Mixture Optimization with Twin Networks

The capabilities of large language models (LLMs) significantly depend on training data drawn from various domains. Optimizing domain-specific mixture ratios can be modeled as a bi-level optimization problem, which we simplify into a single-level penalized form and solve with twin networks: a proxy model trained on primary data and a dynamically updated reference model trained with additional data. Our proposed method, Twin Networks for bi-level DatA mixturE optiMization (TANDEM), measures the data efficacy through the difference between the twin models and up-weights domains that benefit more from the additional data. TANDEM provides theoretical guarantees and wider applicability, compared to prior approaches. Furthermore, our bi-level perspective suggests new settings to study domain reweighting such as data-restricted scenarios and supervised fine-tuning, where optimized mixture ratios significantly improve the performance. Extensive experiments validate TANDEM's effectiveness in all scenarios.

ImGeoNet: Image-induced Geometry-aware Voxel Representation for Multi-view 3D Object Detection

We propose ImGeoNet, a multi-view image-based 3D object detection framework that models a 3D space by an image-induced geometry-aware voxel representation. Unlike previous methods which aggregate 2D features into 3D voxels without considering geometry, ImGeoNet learns to induce geometry from multi-view images to alleviate the confusion arising from voxels of free space, and during the inference phase, only images from multiple views are required. Besides, a powerful pre-trained 2D feature extractor can be leveraged by our representation, leading to a more robust performance. To evaluate the effectiveness of ImGeoNet, we conduct quantitative and qualitative experiments on three indoor datasets, namely ARKitScenes, ScanNetV2, and ScanNet200. The results demonstrate that ImGeoNet outperforms the current state-of-the-art multi-view image-based method, ImVoxelNet, on all three datasets in terms of detection accuracy. In addition, ImGeoNet shows great data efficiency by achieving results comparable to ImVoxelNet with 100 views while utilizing only 40 views. Furthermore, our studies indicate that our proposed image-induced geometry-aware representation can enable image-based methods to attain superior detection accuracy than the seminal point cloud-based method, VoteNet, in two practical scenarios: (1) scenarios where point clouds are sparse and noisy, such as in ARKitScenes, and (2) scenarios involve diverse object classes, particularly classes of small objects, as in the case in ScanNet200.

ReCLIP: Refine Contrastive Language Image Pre-Training with Source Free Domain Adaptation

Large-scale Pre-Training Vision-Language Model such as CLIP has demonstrated outstanding performance in zero-shot classification, e.g. achieving 76.3% top-1 accuracy on ImageNet without seeing any example, which leads to potential benefits to many tasks that have no labeled data. However, while applying CLIP to a downstream target domain, the presence of visual and text domain gaps and cross-modality misalignment can greatly impact the model performance. To address such challenges, we propose ReCLIP, the first source-free domain adaptation method for vision-language models, which does not require any source data or target labeled data. ReCLIP first learns a projection space to mitigate the misaligned visual-text embeddings and learns pseudo labels, and then deploys cross-modality self-training with the pseudo labels, to update visual and text encoders, refine labels and reduce domain gaps and misalignments iteratively. With extensive experiments, we demonstrate ReCLIP reduces the average error rate of CLIP from 30.17% to 25.06% on 22 image classification benchmarks. X-Edit: Exact, Explicit, and Explainable Null-Space Editing for Medical Vision Transformers

Pre-trained Vision Transformers (ViTs) are increasingly deployed for medical image classification. However, correcting their inevitable failure cases in dynamic clinical scenarios poses a critical challenge. Conventional fine-tuning approaches inherently suffer from catastrophic forgetting, severely degrading previously acquired diagnostic capabilities. Such instability fundamentally compromises clinical safety. Addressing this vulnerability requires an active, controllable, and reliable intervention mechanism that is both theoretically grounded and inherently interpretable. To this end, we propose X-Edit (eXact, eXplicit, and eXplainable Editing), an efficient null-space model editing framework. X-Edit transitions the editing process from iterative gradient-based optimization to a theoretically grounded, closed-form solution. Specifically, we first explicitly localize the influential layers via causal tracing governing the erroneous prediction. Subsequently, we construct an orthogonal null-space projection matrix from a curated anchor set. By geometrically constraining the exact parameter update strictly within this null space, we provide mathematical guarantees that the intervention rectifies targeted errors without perturbing established diagnostic representations. Extensive evaluations on six medical imaging benchmarks demonstrate that X-Edit comprehensively suppresses catastrophic forgetting while achieving superior edit success rates. MyoPS-Net: Myocardial Pathology Segmentation with Flexible Combination of Multi-Sequence CMR Images

Myocardial pathology segmentation (MyoPS) can be a prerequisite for the accurate diagnosis and treatment planning of myocardial infarction. However, achieving this segmentation is challenging, mainly due to the inadequate and indistinct information from an image. In this work, we develop an end-to-end deep neural network, referred to as MyoPS-Net, to flexibly combine five-sequence cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images for MyoPS. To extract precise and adequate information, we design an effective yet flexible architecture to extract and fuse cross-modal features. This architecture can tackle different numbers of CMR images and complex combinations of modalities, with output branches targeting specific pathologies. To impose anatomical knowledge on the segmentation results, we first propose a module to regularize myocardium consistency and localize the pathologies, and then introduce an inclusiveness loss to utilize relations between myocardial scars and edema. We evaluated the proposed MyoPS-Net on two datasets, i.e., a private one consisting of 50 paired multi-sequence CMR images and a public one from MICCAI2020 MyoPS Challenge. Experimental results showed that MyoPS-Net could achieve state-of-the-art performance in various scenarios. Note that in practical clinics, the subjects may not have full sequences, such as missing LGE CMR or mapping CMR scans. We therefore conducted extensive experiments to investigate the performance of the proposed method in dealing with such complex combinations of different CMR sequences. Results proved the superiority and generalizability of MyoPS-Net, and more importantly, indicated a practical clinical application.

CrisisLTLSum: A Benchmark for Local Crisis Event Timeline Extraction and Summarization

Social media has increasingly played a key role in emergency response: first responders can use public posts to better react to ongoing crisis events and deploy the necessary resources where they are most needed. Timeline extraction and abstractive summarization are critical technical tasks to leverage large numbers of social media posts about events. Unfortunately, there are few datasets for benchmarking technical approaches for those tasks. This paper presents CrisisLTLSum, the largest dataset of local crisis event timelines available to date. CrisisLTLSum contains 1,000 crisis event timelines across four domains: wildfires, local fires, traffic, and storms. We built CrisisLTLSum using a semi-automated cluster-then-refine approach to collect data from the public Twitter stream. Our initial experiments indicate a significant gap between the performance of strong baselines compared to the human performance on both tasks. Our dataset, code, and models are publicly available.

ZScribbleSeg: Zen and the Art of Scribble Supervised Medical Image Segmentation

Curating a large scale fully-annotated dataset can be both labour-intensive and expertise-demanding, especially for medical images. To alleviate this problem, we propose to utilize solely scribble annotations for weakly supervised segmentation. Existing solutions mainly leverage selective losses computed solely on annotated areas and generate pseudo gold standard segmentation by propagating labels to adjacent areas. However, these methods could suffer from the inaccurate and sometimes unrealistic pseudo segmentation due to the insufficient supervision and incomplete shape features. Different from previous efforts, we first investigate the principle of ''good scribble annotations'', which leads to efficient scribble forms via supervision maximization and randomness simulation. Furthermore, we introduce regularization terms to encode the spatial relationship and shape prior, where a new formulation is developed to estimate the mixture ratios of label classes. These ratios are critical in identifying the unlabeled pixels for each class and correcting erroneous predictions, thus the accurate estimation lays the foundation for the incorporation of spatial prior. Finally, we integrate the efficient scribble supervision with the prior into a unified framework, denoted as ZScribbleSeg, and apply the method to multiple scenarios. Leveraging only scribble annotations, ZScribbleSeg set new state-of-the-arts on four segmentation tasks using ACDC, MSCMRseg, MyoPS and PPSS datasets.

CameraPose: Weakly-Supervised Monocular 3D Human Pose Estimation by Leveraging In-the-wild 2D Annotations

To improve the generalization of 3D human pose estimators, many existing deep learning based models focus on adding different augmentations to training poses. However, data augmentation techniques are limited to the "seen" pose combinations and hard to infer poses with rare "unseen" joint positions. To address this problem, we present CameraPose, a weakly-supervised framework for 3D human pose estimation from a single image, which can not only be applied on 2D-3D pose pairs but also on 2D alone annotations. By adding a camera parameter branch, any in-the-wild 2D annotations can be fed into our pipeline to boost the training diversity and the 3D poses can be implicitly learned by reprojecting back to 2D. Moreover, CameraPose introduces a refinement network module with confidence-guided loss to further improve the quality of noisy 2D keypoints extracted by 2D pose estimators. Experimental results demonstrate that the CameraPose brings in clear improvements on cross-scenario datasets. Notably, it outperforms the baseline method by 3mm on the most challenging dataset 3DPW. In addition, by combining our proposed refinement network module with existing 3D pose estimators, their performance can be improved in cross-scenario evaluation.

BUMP: A Benchmark of Unfaithful Minimal Pairs for Meta-Evaluation of Faithfulness Metrics

The proliferation of automatic faithfulness metrics for summarization has produced a need for benchmarks to evaluate them. While existing benchmarks measure the correlation with human judgements of faithfulness on model-generated summaries, they are insufficient for diagnosing whether metrics are: 1) consistent, i.e., indicate lower faithfulness as errors are introduced into a summary, 2) effective on human-written texts, and 3) sensitive to different error types (as summaries can contain multiple errors). To address these needs, we present a benchmark of unfaithful minimal pairs (BUMP), a dataset of 889 human-written, minimally different summary pairs, where a single error is introduced to a summary from the CNN/DailyMail dataset to produce an unfaithful summary. We find BUMP complements existing benchmarks in a number of ways: 1) the summaries in BUMP are harder to discriminate and less probable under SOTA summarization models, 2) unlike non-pair-based datasets, BUMP can be used to measure the consistency of metrics, and reveals that the most discriminative metrics tend not to be the most consistent, and 3) unlike datasets containing generated summaries with multiple errors, BUMP enables the measurement of metrics' performance on individual error types.

Multi-head Uncertainty Inference for Adversarial Attack Detection

Deep neural networks (DNNs) are sensitive and susceptible to tiny perturbation by adversarial attacks which causes erroneous predictions. Various methods, including adversarial defense and uncertainty inference (UI), have been developed in recent years to overcome the adversarial attacks. In this paper, we propose a multi-head uncertainty inference (MH-UI) framework for detecting adversarial attack examples. We adopt a multi-head architecture with multiple prediction heads (i.e., classifiers) to obtain predictions from different depths in the DNNs and introduce shallow information for the UI. Using independent heads at different depths, the normalized predictions are assumed to follow the same Dirichlet distribution, and we estimate distribution parameter of it by moment matching. Cognitive uncertainty brought by the adversarial attacks will be reflected and amplified on the distribution. Experimental results show that the proposed MH-UI framework can outperform all the referred UI methods in the adversarial attack detection task with different settings.

Deep Compatible Learning for Partially-Supervised Medical Image Segmentation

Partially-supervised learning can be challenging for segmentation due to the lack of supervision for unlabeled structures, and the methods directly applying fully-supervised learning could lead to incompatibility, meaning ground truth is not in the solution set of the optimization problem given the loss function. To address the challenge, we propose a deep compatible learning (DCL) framework, which trains a single multi-label segmentation network using images with only partial structures annotated. We first formulate the partially-supervised segmentation as an optimization problem compatible with missing labels, and prove its compatibility. Then, we equip the model with a conditional segmentation strategy, to propagate labels from multiple partially-annotated images to the target. Additionally, we propose a dual learning strategy, which learns two opposite mappings of label propagation simultaneously, to provide substantial supervision for unlabeled structures. The two strategies are formulated into compatible forms, termed as conditional compatibility and dual compatibility, respectively. We show this framework is generally applicable for conventional loss functions. The approach attains significant performance improvement over existing methods, especially in the situation where only a small training dataset is available. Results on three segmentation tasks have shown that the proposed framework could achieve performance matching fully-supervised models.

Transformers Improve Breast Cancer Diagnosis from Unregistered Multi-View Mammograms

Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used in various medical imaging tasks. However, due to the intrinsic locality of convolution operation, CNNs generally cannot model long-range dependencies well, which are important for accurately identifying or mapping corresponding breast lesion features computed from unregistered multiple mammograms. This motivates us to leverage the architecture of Multi-view Vision Transformers to capture long-range relationships of multiple mammograms from the same patient in one examination. For this purpose, we employ local Transformer blocks to separately learn patch relationships within four mammograms acquired from two-view (CC/MLO) of two-side (right/left) breasts. The outputs from different views and sides are concatenated and fed into global Transformer blocks, to jointly learn patch relationships between four images representing two different views of the left and right breasts. To evaluate the proposed model, we retrospectively assembled a dataset involving 949 sets of mammograms, which include 470 malignant cases and 479 normal or benign cases. We trained and evaluated the model using a five-fold cross-validation method. Without any arduous preprocessing steps (e.g., optimal window cropping, chest wall or pectoral muscle removal, two-view image registration, etc.), our four-image (two-view-two-side) Transformer-based model achieves case classification performance with an area under ROC curve (AUC = 0.818), which significantly outperforms AUC = 0.784 achieved by the state-of-the-art multi-view CNNs (p = 0.009). It also outperforms two one-view-two-side models that achieve AUC of 0.724 (CC view) and 0.769 (MLO view), respectively. The study demonstrates the potential of using Transformers to develop high-performing computer-aided diagnosis schemes that combine four mammograms.

Parallel Spatio-Temporal Attention-Based TCN for Multivariate Time Series Prediction

As industrial systems become more complex and monitoring sensors for everything from surveillance to our health become more ubiquitous, multivariate time series prediction is taking an important place in the smooth-running of our society. A recurrent neural network with attention to help extend the prediction windows is the current-state-of-the-art for this task. However, we argue that their vanishing gradients, short memories, and serial architecture make RNNs fundamentally unsuited to long-horizon forecasting with complex data. Temporal convolutional networks (TCNs) do not suffer from gradient problems and they support parallel calculations, making them a more appropriate choice. Additionally, they have longer memories than RNNs, albeit with some instability and efficiency problems. Hence, we propose a framework, called PSTA-TCN, that combines a parallel spatio-temporal attention mechanism to extract dynamic internal correlations with stacked TCN backbones to extract features from different window sizes. The framework makes full use parallel calculations to dramatically reduce training times, while substantially increasing accuracy with stable prediction windows up to 13 times longer than the status quo.

vTensor: Flexible Virtual Tensor Management for Efficient LLM Serving

Large Language Models (LLMs) are widely used across various domains, processing millions of daily requests. This surge in demand poses significant challenges in optimizing throughput and latency while keeping costs manageable. The Key-Value (KV) cache, a standard method for retaining previous computations, makes LLM inference highly bounded by memory. While batching strategies can enhance performance, they frequently lead to significant memory fragmentation. Even though cutting-edge systems like vLLM mitigate KV cache fragmentation using paged Attention mechanisms, they still suffer from inefficient memory and computational operations due to the tightly coupled page management and computation kernels. This study introduces the vTensor, an innovative tensor structure for LLM inference based on GPU virtual memory management (VMM). vTensor addresses existing limitations by decoupling computation from memory defragmentation and offering dynamic extensibility. Our framework employs a CPU-GPU heterogeneous approach, ensuring efficient, fragmentation-free memory management while accommodating various computation kernels across different LLM architectures. Experimental results indicate that vTensor achieves an average speedup of 1.86x across different models, with up to 2.42x in multi-turn chat scenarios. Additionally, vTensor provides average speedups of 2.12x and 3.15x in kernel evaluation, reaching up to 3.92x and 3.27x compared to SGLang Triton prefix-prefilling kernels and vLLM paged Attention kernel, respectively. Furthermore, it frees approximately 71.25% (57GB) of memory on the NVIDIA A100 GPU compared to vLLM, enabling more memory-intensive workloads.

HeLM: Highlighted Evidence augmented Language Model for Enhanced Table-to-Text Generation

Large models have demonstrated significant progress across various domains, particularly in tasks related to text generation. In the domain of Table to Text, many Large Language Model (LLM)-based methods currently resort to modifying prompts to invoke public APIs, incurring potential costs and information leaks. With the advent of open-source large models, fine-tuning LLMs has become feasible. In this study, we conducted parameter-efficient fine-tuning on the LLaMA2 model. Distinguishing itself from previous fine-tuning-based table-to-text methods, our approach involves injecting reasoning information into the input by emphasizing table-specific row data. Our model consists of two modules: 1) a table reasoner that identifies relevant row evidence, and 2) a table summarizer that generates sentences based on the highlighted table. To facilitate this, we propose a search strategy to construct reasoning labels for training the table reasoner. On both the FetaQA and QTSumm datasets, our approach achieved state-of-the-art results. Additionally, we observed that highlighting input tables significantly enhances the model's performance and provides valuable interpretability.

InsCon:Instance Consistency Feature Representation via Self-Supervised Learning

Feature representation via self-supervised learning has reached remarkable success in image-level contrastive learning, which brings impressive performances on image classification tasks. While image-level feature representation mainly focuses on contrastive learning in single instance, it ignores the objective differences between pretext and downstream prediction tasks such as object detection and instance segmentation. In order to fully unleash the power of feature representation on downstream prediction tasks, we propose a new end-to-end self-supervised framework called InsCon, which is devoted to capturing multi-instance information and extracting cell-instance features for object recognition and localization. On the one hand, InsCon builds a targeted learning paradigm that applies multi-instance images as input, aligning the learned feature between corresponding instance views, which makes it more appropriate for multi-instance recognition tasks. On the other hand, InsCon introduces the pull and push of cell-instance, which utilizes cell consistency to enhance fine-grained feature representation for precise boundary localization. As a result, InsCon learns multi-instance consistency on semantic feature representation and cell-instance consistency on spatial feature representation. Experiments demonstrate the method we proposed surpasses MoCo v2 by 1.1% AP^{bb} on COCO object detection and 1.0% AP^{mk} on COCO instance segmentation using Mask R-CNN R50-FPN network structure with 90k iterations, 2.1% APbb on PASCAL VOC objection detection using Faster R-CNN R50-C4 network structure with 24k iterations.

Learning Parameterized Nonlinear Elasticity on Curved Surfaces

We learn parameterized nonlinear elasticity on curved surfaces using a physics-informed neural network that enforces governing equations and boundary conditions directly through the loss function, enabling a single trained model to represent a continuous family of elastic equilibria across geometric and material parameters. Nonlinear elasticity on curved manifolds underlies the mechanics of crystalline shells, elastic membranes, and viral capsids, where curvature and topological defects determine equilibrium structure and stability. Traditional exact and finite element solvers rely on symmetry reduction and must be reinitialized for each parameter choice, limiting scalability when symmetry is broken or parameters vary. We validate the proposed learning-based solver on a benchmark problem from curved elasticity, namely the one-dimensional single disclination on a spheroidal surface with known exact and numerical solutions. The network accurately reproduces these solutions, including parameter combinations excluded from training, demonstrating generalization across geometry and material regimes. This study establishes a scalable framework for learning nonlinear elastic systems on curved manifolds and lays the groundwork for extensions to fully two-dimensional and multi-defect configurations relevant to protein shells and other curved elastic networks.

On-Policy Distillation with Best-of-N Teacher Rollout Selection

On-policy distillation (OPD), which supervises a student on its own sampled trajectories, has emerged as a data-efficient post-training method for improving reasoning while avoiding the reward dependence of reinforcement learning and the catastrophic forgetting often observed in standard supervised fine-tuning. However, standard OPD typically computes teacher supervision under noisy student-generated contexts and often relies on a single stochastic teacher rollout per prompt. As a result, the supervision signal can be high-variance: the sampled teacher trajectory can be incorrect, uninformative, or poorly matched to the student's current reasoning behavior. To address this limitation, we propose BRTS, a Best-of-N Rollout Teacher Selection framework for on-policy distillation. BRTS augments standard student-context OPD with a teacher-context supervision branch constructed from the curated teacher trajectory. Rather than distilling from the first sampled teacher rollout, BRTS samples a small pool of teacher trajectories and selects the auxiliary trajectory using a simple priority rule: correctness first, student alignment second. When multiple correct teacher trajectories are available, BRTS chooses the one most aligned with the student's current behavior; when unconditioned teacher samples fail on harder prompts, it invokes a ground-truth-conditioned recovery step to elicit a natural derivation. The selected trajectory is then used to provide reliable teacher-context supervision inside the OPD loop, augmented with an auxiliary loss on the teacher trajectory. Experiments on AIME 2024, AIME 2025, and AMC 2023 show that BRTS improves over standard OPD on challenging reasoning benchmarks, with the largest gains on harder datasets. CEKD:Cross Ensemble Knowledge Distillation for Augmented Fine-grained Data

Data augmentation has been proved effective in training deep models. Existing data augmentation methods tackle the fine-grained problem by blending image pairs and fusing corresponding labels according to the statistics of mixed pixels, which produces additional noise harmful to the performance of networks. Motivated by this, we present a simple yet effective cross ensemble knowledge distillation (CEKD) model for fine-grained feature learning. We innovatively propose a cross distillation module to provide additional supervision to alleviate the noise problem, and propose a collaborative ensemble module to overcome the target conflict problem. The proposed model can be trained in an end-to-end manner, and only requires image-level label supervision. Extensive experiments on widely used fine-grained benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model. Specifically, with the backbone of ResNet-101, CEKD obtains the accuracy of 89.59%, 95.96% and 94.56% in three datasets respectively, outperforming state-of-the-art API-Net by 0.99%, 1.06% and 1.16%.

Semi-LLIE: Semi-supervised Contrastive Learning with Mamba-based Low-light Image Enhancement

Despite the impressive advancements made in recent low-light image enhancement techniques, the scarcity of paired data has emerged as a significant obstacle to further advancements. This work proposes a mean-teacher-based semi-supervised low-light enhancement (Semi-LLIE) framework that integrates the unpaired data into model training. The mean-teacher technique is a prominent semi-supervised learning method, successfully adopted for addressing high-level and low-level vision tasks. However, two primary issues hinder the naive mean-teacher method from attaining optimal performance in low-light image enhancement. Firstly, pixel-wise consistency loss is insufficient for transferring realistic illumination distribution from the teacher to the student model, which results in color cast in the enhanced images. Secondly, cutting-edge image enhancement approaches fail to effectively cooperate with the mean-teacher framework to restore detailed information in dark areas due to their tendency to overlook modeling structured information within local regions. To mitigate the above issues, we first introduce a semantic-aware contrastive loss to faithfully transfer the illumination distribution, contributing to enhancing images with natural colors. Then, we design a Mamba-based low-light image enhancement backbone to effectively enhance Mamba's local region pixel relationship representation ability with a multi-scale feature learning scheme, facilitating the generation of images with rich textural details. Further, we propose novel perceptive loss based on the large-scale vision-language Recognize Anything Model (RAM) to help generate enhanced images with richer textual details. The experimental results indicate that our Semi-LLIE surpasses existing methods in both quantitative and qualitative metrics.

ZScribbleSeg: A comprehensive segmentation framework with modeling of efficient annotation and maximization of scribble supervision

Curating fully annotated datasets for medical image segmentation is labour-intensive and expertise-demanding. To alleviate this problem, prior studies have explored scribble annotations for weakly supervised segmentation. Existing solutions mainly compute losses on annotated areas and generate pseudo labels by propagating annotations to adjacent regions. However, these methods often suffer from inaccurate and unrealistic segmentations due to insufficient supervision and incomplete shape information. In contrast, we first investigate the principle of good scribble annotations, which leads to efficient scribble forms via supervision maximization and randomness simulation. We further introduce regularization terms to encode the spatial relationship and the shape constraints, where the EM algorithm is utilized to estimate the mixture ratios of label classes. These ratios are critical in identifying the unlabeled pixels for each class and correcting erroneous predictions, thus the accurate estimation lays the foundation for the incorporation of spatial prior. Finally, we integrate the efficient scribble supervision with the prior into a framework, referred to as ZScribbleSeg, and apply it to multiple scenarios. Leveraging only scribble annotations, ZScribbleSeg achieves competitive performance on six segmentation tasks including ACDC, MSCMRseg, BTCV, MyoPS, Decathlon-BrainTumor and Decathlon-Prostate. Parallel Network with Channel Attention and Post-Processing for Carotid Arteries Vulnerable Plaque Segmentation in Ultrasound Images

Carotid arteries vulnerable plaques are a crucial factor in the screening of atherosclerosis by ultrasound technique. However, the plaques are contaminated by various noises such as artifact, speckle noise, and manual segmentation may be time-consuming. This paper proposes an automatic convolutional neural network (CNN) method for plaque segmentation in carotid ultrasound images using a small dataset. First, a parallel network with three independent scale decoders is utilized as our base segmentation network, pyramid dilation convolutions are used to enlarge receptive fields in the three segmentation sub-networks. Subsequently, the three decoders are merged to be rectified in channels by SENet. Thirdly, in test stage, the initially segmented plaque is refined by the max contour morphology post-processing to obtain the final plaque. Moreover, three loss function Dice loss, SSIM loss and cross-entropy loss are compared to segment plaques. Test results show that the proposed method with dice loss function yields a Dice value of 0.820, an IoU of 0.701, Acc of 0.969, and modified Hausdorff distance (MHD) of 1.43 for 30 vulnerable cases of plaques, it outperforms some of the conventional CNN-based methods on these metrics. Additionally, we apply an ablation experiment to show the validity of each proposed module. Our study provides some reference for similar researches and may be useful in actual applications for plaque segmentation of ultrasound carotid arteries.

DLRover-RM: Resource Optimization for Deep Recommendation Models Training in the Cloud

Deep learning recommendation models (DLRM) rely on large embedding tables to manage categorical sparse features. Expanding such embedding tables can significantly enhance model performance, but at the cost of increased GPU/CPU/memory usage. Meanwhile, tech companies have built extensive cloud-based services to accelerate training DLRM models at scale. In this paper, we conduct a deep investigation of the DLRM training platforms at AntGroup and reveal two critical challenges: low resource utilization due to suboptimal configurations by users and the tendency to encounter abnormalities due to an unstable cloud environment. To overcome them, we introduce DLRover-RM, an elastic training framework for DLRMs designed to increase resource utilization and handle the instability of a cloud environment. DLRover-RM develops a resource-performance model by considering the unique characteristics of DLRMs and a three-stage heuristic strategy to automatically allocate and dynamically adjust resources for DLRM training jobs for higher resource utilization. Further, DLRover-RM develops multiple mechanisms to ensure efficient and reliable execution of DLRM training jobs. Our extensive evaluation shows that DLRover-RM reduces job completion times by 31%, increases the job completion rate by 6%, enhances CPU usage by 15%, and improves memory utilization by 20%, compared to state-of-the-art resource scheduling frameworks. DLRover-RM has been widely deployed at AntGroup and processes thousands of DLRM training jobs on a daily basis. DLRover-RM is open-sourced and has been adopted by 10+ companies.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of 2D and 3D Features for Predicting Tumor Response to Chemotherapy

2D and 3D tumor features are widely used in a variety of medical image analysis tasks. However, for chemotherapy response prediction, the effectiveness between different kinds of 2D and 3D features are not comprehensively assessed, especially in ovarian cancer-related applications. This investigation aims to accomplish such a comprehensive evaluation. For this purpose, CT images were collected retrospectively from 188 advanced-stage ovarian cancer patients. All the metastatic tumors that occurred in each patient were segmented and then processed by a set of six filters. Next, three categories of features, namely geometric, density, and texture features, were calculated from both the filtered results and the original segmented tumors, generating a total of 1595 and 1403 features for the 3D and 2D tumors, respectively. In addition to the conventional single-slice 2D and full-volume 3D tumor features, we also computed the incomplete-3D tumor features, which were achieved by sequentially adding one individual CT slice and calculating the corresponding features. Support vector machine (SVM) based prediction models were developed and optimized for each feature set. 5-fold cross-validation was used to assess the performance of each individual model. The results show that the 2D feature-based model achieved an AUC (area under the ROC curve [receiver operating characteristic]) of 0.84+-0.02. When adding more slices, the AUC first increased to reach the maximum and then gradually decreased to 0.86+-0.02. The maximum AUC was yielded when adding two adjacent slices, with a value of 0.91+-0.01. This initial result provides meaningful information for optimizing machine learning-based decision-making support tools in the future.

An Exploration of Post-Editing Effectiveness in Text Summarization

Automatic summarization methods are efficient but can suffer from low quality. In comparison, manual summarization is expensive but produces higher quality. Can humans and AI collaborate to improve summarization performance? In similar text generation tasks (e.g., machine translation), human-AI collaboration in the form of "post-editing" AI-generated text reduces human workload and improves the quality of AI output. Therefore, we explored whether post-editing offers advantages in text summarization. Specifically, we conducted an experiment with 72 participants, comparing post-editing provided summaries with manual summarization for summary quality, human efficiency, and user experience on formal (XSum news) and informal (Reddit posts) text. This study sheds valuable insights on when post-editing is useful for text summarization: it helped in some cases (e.g., when participants lacked domain knowledge) but not in others (e.g., when provided summaries include inaccurate information). Participants' different editing strategies and needs for assistance offer implications for future human-AI summarization systems.

Developing a Novel Image Marker to Predict the Clinical Outcome of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT) for Ovarian Cancer Patients

Objective Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is one kind of treatment for advanced stage ovarian cancer patients. However, due to the nature of tumor heterogeneity, the clinical outcomes to NACT vary significantly among different subgroups. Partial responses to NACT may lead to suboptimal debulking surgery, which will result in adverse prognosis. To address this clinical challenge, the purpose of this study is to develop a novel image marker to achieve high accuracy prognosis prediction of NACT at an early stage. Methods For this purpose, we first computed a total of 1373 radiomics features to quantify the tumor characteristics, which can be grouped into three categories: geometric, intensity, and texture features. Second, all these features were optimized by principal component analysis algorithm to generate a compact and informative feature cluster. This cluster was used as input for developing and optimizing support vector machine (SVM) based classifiers, which indicated the likelihood of receiving suboptimal cytoreduction after the NACT treatment. Two different kernels for SVM algorithm were explored and compared. A total of 42 ovarian cancer cases were retrospectively collected to validate the scheme. A nested leave-one-out cross-validation framework was adopted for model performance assessment. Results The results demonstrated that the model with a Gaussian radial basis function kernel SVM yielded an AUC (area under the ROC [receiver characteristic operation] curve) of 0.806. Meanwhile, this model achieved overall accuracy (ACC) of 83.3%, positive predictive value (PPV) of 81.8%, and negative predictive value (NPV) of 83.9%. Conclusion This study provides meaningful information for the development of radiomics based image markers in NACT treatment outcome prediction.

Multi-Scale Generative Modeling with Heat Dissipation Flow Matching

Diffusion models are widely used in image generation, with most relying on noise-based corruption and denoising. A distinct branch instead uses blur as the main corruption, preserving better color budgets and multi-scale detail by providing multi-scale priors. However, blur-based models remain in SDE-based frameworks and are not integrated into ODE-based frameworks, such as Flow Matching (FM). Meanwhile, in the blur-based formulation, the classical inverse heat-dissipation (IHD) process faces an ill-posed challenge. Moreover, under the data-manifold assumption, regressing blurred images from high-dimensional noise (or velocity) space is also difficult. We propose Heat Dissipation Flow Matching (HDFM), which introduces a continuous blurred (heat-dissipation) process into FM to inject multi-scale priors. HDFM aligns an interpolated heat-dissipation path to address ill-posedness and adopts $x$-prediction to mitigate high-dimensional regression difficulty. Toy experiments and ablation studies show that HDFM consistently benefits from both blur and $x$-prediction. The performance of HDFM outperforms most baseline methods on all datasets.

xGR: Efficient Generative Recommendation Serving at Scale

Recommendation system delivers substantial economic benefits by providing personalized predictions. Generative recommendation (GR) integrates LLMs to enhance the understanding of long user-item sequences. Despite employing attention-based architectures, GR's workload differs markedly from that of LLM serving. GR typically processes long prompt while producing short, fixed-length outputs, yet the computational cost of each decode phase is especially high due to the large beam width. In addition, since the beam search involves a vast item space, the sorting overhead becomes particularly time-consuming. We propose xGR, a GR-oriented serving system that meets strict low-latency requirements under highconcurrency scenarios. First, xGR unifies the processing of prefill and decode phases through staged computation and separated KV cache. Second, xGR enables early sorting termination and mask-based item filtering with data structure reuse. Third, xGR reconstructs the overall pipeline to exploit multilevel overlap and multi-stream parallelism. Our experiments with real-world recommendation service datasets demonstrate that xGR achieves at least 3.49x throughput compared to the state-of-the-art baseline under strict latency constraints.

Unleashing the Power of Multi-Task Learning: A Comprehensive Survey Spanning Traditional, Deep, and Pretrained Foundation Model Eras

MTL is a learning paradigm that effectively leverages both task-specific and shared information to address multiple related tasks simultaneously. In contrast to STL, MTL offers a suite of benefits that enhance both the training process and the inference efficiency. MTL's key advantages encompass streamlined model architecture, performance enhancement, and cross-domain generalizability. Over the past twenty years, MTL has become widely recognized as a flexible and effective approach in various fields, including CV, NLP, recommendation systems, disease prognosis and diagnosis, and robotics. This survey provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of MTL, encompassing the technical aspects of cutting-edge methods from traditional approaches to deep learning and the latest trend of pretrained foundation models. Our survey methodically categorizes MTL techniques into five key areas: regularization, relationship learning, feature propagation, optimization, and pre-training. This categorization not only chronologically outlines the development of MTL but also dives into various specialized strategies within each category. Furthermore, the survey reveals how the MTL evolves from handling a fixed set of tasks to embracing a more flexible approach free from task or modality constraints. It explores the concepts of task-promptable and -agnostic training, along with the capacity for ZSL, which unleashes the untapped potential of this historically coveted learning paradigm. Overall, we hope this survey provides the research community with a comprehensive overview of the advancements in MTL from its inception in 1997 to the present in 2023. We address present challenges and look ahead to future possibilities, shedding light on the opportunities and potential avenues for MTL research in a broad manner. Revisiting Model Stitching In the Foundation Model Era

Model stitching, connecting early layers of one model (source) to later layers of another (target) via a light stitch layer, has served as a probe of representational compatibility. Prior work finds that models trained on the same dataset remain stitchable (negligible accuracy drop) despite different initializations or objectives. We revisit stitching for Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) that vary in objectives, data, and modality mix (e.g., CLIP, DINOv2, SigLIP 2) and ask: Are heterogeneous VFMs stitchable? We introduce a systematic protocol spanning the stitch points, stitch layer families, training losses, and downstream tasks. Three findings emerge. (1) Stitch layer training matters: conventional approaches that match the intermediate features at the stitch point or optimize the task loss end-to-end struggle to retain accuracy, especially at shallow stitch points. (2) With a simple feature-matching loss at the target model's penultimate layer, heterogeneous VFMs become reliably stitchable across vision tasks. (3) For deep stitch points, the stitched model can surpass either constituent model at only a small inference overhead (for the stitch layer). Building on these findings, we further propose the VFM Stitch Tree (VST), which shares early layers across VFMs while retaining their later layers, yielding a controllable accuracy-latency trade-off for multimodal LLMs that often leverage multiple VFMs. Taken together, our study elevates stitching from a diagnostic probe to a practical recipe for integrating complementary VFM strengths and pinpointing where their representations align or diverge.

FastOCR: Dynamic Visual Fixation via KV Cache Pruning for Efficient Document Parsing

Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have shown strong promise on Optical Character Recognition (OCR), yet the sheer number of visual tokens required to encode dense documents incurs prohibitive inference cost. Existing pruning methods rely on physical eviction, e.g., permanently discarding visual tokens during the prefill stage. While effective for natural images, this strategy fundamentally breaks down on OCR, where virtually every visual token may correspond to a character or structural element, and any irreversible loss leads to catastrophic accuracy degradation. We observe that, although document images appear globally dense and seemingly unprunable, the model's attention to them is in fact temporally sparse: at each decoding step it concentrates on a small region that shifts gradually across steps, much as a human reader fixates on successive words rather than perceiving an entire page at once. Motivated by this Dynamic Visual Fixation phenomenon, we recast the intractable global pruning problem as a tractable local, dynamic one and propose FastOCR, a training-free framework with two complementary modules. Specifically, Focal-Guided Pruning identifies a small set of focal layers and selects the most task-relevant visual tokens from them at each step, while Cross-Step Fixation Reuse exploits the gradual shift of fixation to warm-start each step from the previous one. By dynamically adjusting which tokens are attended rather than evicting any from the cache, FastOCR avoids permanent information loss. Extensive experiments show that FastOCR serves as a plug-and-play acceleration module, generalizing consistently across five VLMs of varying sizes and architectures. On Qwen2.5-VL, FastOCR retains 98% of the unpruned model's accuracy while attending to only 5% of the visual tokens per decoding step, reducing attention latency by 3.0$\times$.

From Imitation to Intuition: Intrinsic Reasoning for Open-Instance Video Classification

Conventional video classification models, acting as effective imitators, excel in scenarios with homogeneous data distributions. However, real-world applications often present an open-instance challenge, where intra-class variations are vast and complex, beyond existing benchmarks. While traditional video encoder models struggle to fit these diverse distributions, vision-language models (VLMs) offer superior generalization but have not fully leveraged their reasoning capabilities (intuition) for such tasks. In this paper, we bridge this gap with an intrinsic reasoning framework that evolves open-instance video classification from imitation to intuition. Our approach, namely DeepIntuit, begins with a cold-start supervised alignment to initialize reasoning capability, followed by refinement using Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) to enhance reasoning coherence through reinforcement learning. Crucially, to translate this reasoning into accurate classification, DeepIntuit then introduces an intuitive calibration stage. In this stage, a classifier is trained on this intrinsic reasoning traces generated by the refined VLM, ensuring stable knowledge transfer without distribution mismatch. Extensive experiments demonstrate that for open-instance video classification, DeepIntuit benefits significantly from transcending simple feature imitation and evolving toward intrinsic reasoning. Dolphin-v2: Universal Document Parsing via Scalable Anchor Prompting

Document parsing has garnered widespread attention as vision-language models (VLMs) advance OCR capabilities. However, the field remains fragmented across dozens of specialized models with varying strengths, forcing users to navigate complex model selection and limiting system scalability. Moreover, existing two-stage approaches depend on axis-aligned bounding boxes for layout detection, failing to handle distorted or photographed documents effectively. To this end, we present Dolphin-v2, a two-stage document image parsing model that substantially improves upon the original Dolphin. In the first stage, Dolphin-v2 jointly performs document type classification (digital-born versus photographed) alongside layout analysis. For digital-born documents, it conducts finer-grained element detection with reading order prediction. In the second stage, we employ a hybrid parsing strategy: photographed documents are parsed holistically as complete pages to handle geometric distortions, while digital-born documents undergo element-wise parallel parsing guided by the detected layout anchors, enabling efficient content extraction. Compared with the original Dolphin, Dolphin-v2 introduces several crucial enhancements: (1) robust parsing of photographed documents via holistic page-level understanding, (2) finer-grained element detection (21 categories) with semantic attribute extraction such as author information and document metadata, and (3) code block recognition with indentation preservation, which existing systems typically lack. Comprehensive evaluations are conducted on DocPTBench, OmniDocBench, and our self-constructed RealDoc-160 benchmark. The results demonstrate substantial improvements: +14.78 points overall on the challenging OmniDocBench and 91% error reduction on photographed documents, while maintaining efficient inference through parallel processing.

OxyEcomBench: Benchmarking Multimodal Foundation Models across E-Commerce Ecosystems

LLMs and MLLMs have become indispensable tools across a wide range of applications. E-commerce, however, poses distinctive challenges -- including intricate domain knowledge, long-tail product evidence, heterogeneous visual data, and the interplay among multiple stakeholder roles -- that diverge substantially from the general world knowledge these models are primarily trained on, often causing a notable gap between their open-domain and e-commerce performance. To systematically quantify this gap, we introduce OxyEcomBench, a unified multimodal benchmark comprising approximately 6,300 high-quality instances for real-world bilingual Chinese--English e-commerce. Although several e-commerce benchmarks have been proposed, they typically adopt a single stakeholder perspective, target a narrow set of tasks, or address isolated challenges, making it difficult to holistically assess models' understanding of the full e-commerce pipeline. OxyEcomBench addresses these limitations by jointly covering platform operators, merchants, and customers across 6 capability aspects and 29 tasks, supporting text-only and mixed-modality inputs with single-image, multi-image, single-turn, and multi-turn configurations. All data is sourced from authentic e-commerce platforms and verified by domain experts. The benchmark further adopts a difficulty-aware design with a four-level P0--P3 rubric applied to all 29 tasks whose difficulty admits stable expert consensus, and rigorously prioritizes visually salient multimodal cases in which key evidence resides in images rather than text alone. Evaluations on 20 mainstream LLMs and MLLMs show that even the leading models attain modest performance and that performance gaps narrow on OxyEcomBench, suggesting that insufficient e-commerce-specific knowledge infusion mutes the advantages of advanced general-purpose models in this domain.

Drama: Mamba-Enabled Model-Based Reinforcement Learning Is Sample and Parameter Efficient

Model-based reinforcement learning (RL) offers a solution to the data inefficiency that plagues most model-free RL algorithms. However, learning a robust world model often requires complex and deep architectures, which are computationally expensive and challenging to train. Within the world model, sequence models play a critical role in accurate predictions, and various architectures have been explored, each with its own challenges. Currently, recurrent neural network (RNN)-based world models struggle with vanishing gradients and capturing long-term dependencies. Transformers, on the other hand, suffer from the quadratic memory and computational complexity of self-attention mechanisms, scaling as $O(n^2)$, where $n$ is the sequence length. To address these challenges, we propose a state space model (SSM)-based world model, Drama, specifically leveraging Mamba, that achieves $O(n)$ memory and computational complexity while effectively capturing long-term dependencies and enabling efficient training with longer sequences. We also introduce a novel sampling method to mitigate the suboptimality caused by an incorrect world model in the early training stages. Combining these techniques, Drama achieves a normalised score on the Atari100k benchmark that is competitive with other state-of-the-art (SOTA) model-based RL algorithms, using only a 7 million-parameter world model. Rollout-Training Co-Design for Efficient LLM-Based Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Despite algorithm-level innovations for multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), the underlying networked infrastructure for large-scale MARL training remains underexplored. Existing training frameworks primarily optimize for single-agent scenarios and fail to address the unique system-level challenges of MARL, including rollout-training synchronization barriers, rollout load imbalance, and training resource underutilization. To bridge this gap, we propose FlexMARL, the first end-to-end training framework that holistically optimizes rollout, training, and their orchestration for large-scale LLM-based MARL. Specifically, FlexMARL introduces the joint orchestrator to manage data flow under the rollout-training disaggregated architecture. Building upon the experience store, a novel micro-batch driven asynchronous pipeline eliminates the synchronization barriers while providing strong consistency guarantees. Rollout engine adopts a parallel sampling scheme combined with hierarchical load balancing, which adapts to skewed inter/intra-agent request patterns. Training engine achieves on-demand hardware binding through agent-centric resource allocation. The training states of different agents are swapped via unified and location-agnostic communication. Empirical results on a large-scale production cluster demonstrate that FlexMARL achieves up to 7.3x speedup and improves hardware utilization by up to 5.6x compared to existing frameworks.

AGD: an Auto-switchable Optimizer using Stepwise Gradient Difference for Preconditioning Matrix

Adaptive optimizers, such as Adam, have achieved remarkable success in deep learning. A key component of these optimizers is the so-called preconditioning matrix, providing enhanced gradient information and regulating the step size of each gradient direction. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to designing the preconditioning matrix by utilizing the gradient difference between two successive steps as the diagonal elements. These diagonal elements are closely related to the Hessian and can be perceived as an approximation of the inner product between the Hessian row vectors and difference of the adjacent parameter vectors. Additionally, we introduce an auto-switching function that enables the preconditioning matrix to switch dynamically between Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) and the adaptive optimizer. Based on these two techniques, we develop a new optimizer named AGD that enhances the generalization performance. We evaluate AGD on public datasets of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision (CV), and Recommendation Systems (RecSys). Our experimental results demonstrate that AGD outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) optimizers, achieving highly competitive or significantly better predictive performance. Furthermore, we analyze how AGD is able to switch automatically between SGD and the adaptive optimizer and its actual effects on various scenarios. Understanding Tool-Augmented Agents for Lean Formalization: A Factorial Analysis

Automatic translation of natural language mathematics into faithful Lean 4 code is hindered by the fundamental dissonance between informal set-theoretic intuition and strict formal type theory. This gap often causes LLMs to hallucinate non-existent library definitions, resulting in code that fails to compile or lacks semantic fidelity. In this work, we investigate the effectiveness of tool-augmented agents for this task through a systematic factorial analysis of three distinct tool categories: Fine-tuned Model Querying (accessing expert drafts), Knowledge Search (retrieving symbol definitions), and Compiler Feedback (verifying code via a Lean REPL). We first benchmark the agent against one-shot baselines, demonstrating large gains in both compilation success and semantic equivalence. We then use the factorial decomposition to quantify the impact of each category, isolating the marginal contribution of each tool type to overall performance.

MedCL: Learning Consistent Anatomy Distribution for Scribble-supervised Medical Image Segmentation

Curating large-scale fully annotated datasets is expensive, laborious, and cumbersome, especially for medical images. Several methods have been proposed in the literature that make use of weak annotations in the form of scribbles. However, these approaches require large amounts of scribble annotations, and are only applied to the segmentation of regular organs, which are often unavailable for the disease species that fall in the long-tailed distribution. Motivated by the fact that the medical labels have anatomy distribution priors, we propose a scribble-supervised clustering-based framework, called MedCL, to learn the inherent anatomy distribution of medical labels. Our approach consists of two steps: i) Mix the features with intra- and inter-image mix operations, and ii) Perform feature clustering and regularize the anatomy distribution at both local and global levels. Combined with a small amount of weak supervision, the proposed MedCL is able to segment both regular organs and challenging irregular pathologies. We implement MedCL based on SAM and UNet backbones, and evaluate the performance on three open datasets of regular structure (MSCMRseg), multiple organs (BTCV) and irregular pathology (MyoPS). IPAD-CLIP: Teaching CLIP to Detect Image Local Perceptual Artifacts

Current image quality assessment methods are heavily biased towards global distortions (e.g., noise, blur), neglecting local perceptual artifacts such as ghosting, lens flare, and moire effects. Although significant progress has been made in artifact removal, the fundamental problem of automatic artifact detection remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we formalize the Image Perceptual Artifact Detection (IPAD) task to address this gap. We contribute a benchmark dataset comprising 3,520 artifact images, including 520 real-captured and 3,000 synthetic samples, each paired with pixel-level masks across three representative artifact categories. The core challenge of IPAD lies in the localized, subtle, and semantically weak nature of these artifacts, which makes them prone to missed detection. To overcome this, we introduce IPAD-CLIP, a novel framework built upon CLIP that enhances artifact discrimination in both textual and visual spaces while preserving generalization capabilities. Our key insight is that local artifacts often exhibit strong correlations with specific semantic contexts. Accordingly, we learn artifact-aware text embeddings to explicitly model the object-artifact relationships, resulting in enhanced representations that clear differentiate between clean and artifact prompts. These text embeddings are then used as anchors to shift the visual encoder's attention from high-level semantics to subtle, low-level artifacts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that IPAD-CLIP offers a resource-efficient adaptation of CLIP for detection, significantly outperforming advanced image anomaly detection and manipulation detection methods on our benchmark. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study addressing multi-class local perceptual artifact detection in terms of both dataset and model.

Tool-RoCo: An Agent-as-Tool Self-organization Large Language Model Benchmark in Multi-robot Cooperation

This study proposes Tool-RoCo, a novel benchmark for evaluating large language models (LLMs) in long-term multi-agent cooperation based on RoCo, a multi-robot cooperative benchmark. Recent research on LLM-based multi-agent systems has relied on predefined orchestration, while ignoring agent autonomy. Tool-RoCo treats other agents as tools and introduces cooperative tools, leveraging tool usage to evaluate multi-agent cooperation and self-organization. Tool usage means that each agent (LLM) selects a tool from a candidate set based on the current state, receives feedback, and adjusts its selection in subsequent rounds. To evaluate different autonomy levels, we propose four LLM paradigms: (1) centralized cooperation, where a single LLM allocates tools to all agents; (2) centralized self-organization, where a central LLM autonomously activates agents while keeping others inactive; (3) decentralized cooperation, where each agent has its own LLM and calls tools based on local information; and (4) self-organization, where a randomly chosen initial agent can request collaboration, activating additional agents via tool calls. Tool-RoCo includes three multi-robot tasks, SORT, PACK, and CABINET, to measure format and parameter accuracy and agent coordination through tool usage. The results using several LLMs showed that cooperative tools accounted for only 7.09% of all tools, indicating that LLM-based agents rarely invoked others as assistants. Moreover, activation tools accounted for 96.42%, suggesting that current LLMs tend to maintain active agents while seldom deactivating them for adaptive coordination. xLLM Technical Report

We introduce xLLM, an intelligent and efficient Large Language Model (LLM) inference framework designed for high-performance, large-scale enterprise-grade serving, with deep optimizations for diverse AI accelerators. To address these challenges, xLLM builds a novel decoupled service-engine architecture. At the service layer, xLLM-Service features an intelligent scheduling module that efficiently processes multimodal requests and co-locates online and offline tasks through unified elastic scheduling to maximize cluster utilization. This module also relies on a workload-adaptive dynamic Prefill-Decode (PD) disaggregation policy and a novel Encode-Prefill-Decode (EPD) disaggregation policy designed for multimodal inputs. Furthermore, it incorporates a distributed architecture to provide global KV Cache management and robust fault-tolerant capabilities for high availability. At the engine layer, xLLM-Engine co-optimizes system and algorithm designs to fully saturate computing resources. This is achieved through comprehensive multi-layer execution pipeline optimizations, an adaptive graph mode and an xTensor memory management. xLLM-Engine also further integrates algorithmic enhancements such as optimized speculative decoding and dynamic EPLB, collectively serving to substantially boost throughput and inference efficiency. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that xLLM delivers significantly superior performance and resource efficiency. Under identical TPOT constraints, xLLM achieves throughput up to 1.7x that of MindIE and 2.2x that of vLLM-Ascend with Qwen-series models, while maintaining an average throughput of 1.7x that of MindIE with Deepseek-series models. xLLM framework is publicly available at https://github.com/jd-opensource/xllm and https://github.com/jd-opensource/xllm-service.

A Segmentation-driven Editing Method for Bolt Defect Augmentation and Detection

Bolt defect detection is critical to ensure the safety of transmission lines. However, the scarcity of defect images and imbalanced data distributions significantly limit detection performance. To address this problem, we propose a segmentationdriven bolt defect editing method (SBDE) to augment the dataset. First, a bolt attribute segmentation model (Bolt-SAM) is proposed, which enhances the segmentation of complex bolt attributes through the CLAHE-FFT Adapter (CFA) and Multipart- Aware Mask Decoder (MAMD), generating high-quality masks for subsequent editing tasks. Second, a mask optimization module (MOD) is designed and integrated with the image inpainting model (LaMa) to construct the bolt defect attribute editing model (MOD-LaMa), which converts normal bolts into defective ones through attribute editing. Finally, an editing recovery augmentation (ERA) strategy is proposed to recover and put the edited defect bolts back into the original inspection scenes and expand the defect detection dataset. We constructed multiple bolt datasets and conducted extensive experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that the bolt defect images generated by SBDE significantly outperform state-of-the-art image editing models, and effectively improve the performance of bolt defect detection, which fully verifies the effectiveness and application potential of the proposed method. PPS-QMIX: Periodically Parameter Sharing for Accelerating Convergence of Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Training for multi-agent reinforcement learning(MARL) is a time-consuming process caused by distribution shift of each agent. One drawback is that strategy of each agent in MARL is independent but actually in cooperation. Thus, a vertical issue in multi-agent reinforcement learning is how to efficiently accelerate training process. To address this problem, current research has leveraged a centralized function(CF) across multiple agents to learn contribution of the team reward for each agent. However, CF based methods introduce joint error from other agents in estimation of value network. In so doing, inspired by federated learning, we propose three simple novel approaches called Average Periodically Parameter Sharing(A-PPS), Reward-Scalability Periodically Parameter Sharing(RS-PPS) and Partial Personalized Periodically Parameter Sharing(PP-PPS) mechanism to accelerate training of MARL. Agents share Q-value network periodically during the training process. Agents which has same identity adapt collected reward as scalability and update partial neural network during period to share different parameters. We apply our approaches in classical MARL method QMIX and evaluate our approaches on various tasks in StarCraft Multi-Agent Challenge(SMAC) environment. Performance of numerical experiments yield enormous enhancement, with an average improvement of 10\%-30\%, and enable to win tasks that QMIX cannot. Multi-Level Aggregation and Recursive Alignment Architecture for Efficient Parallel Inference Segmentation Network

Real-time semantic segmentation is a crucial research for real-world applications. However, many methods lay particular emphasis on reducing the computational complexity and model size, while largely sacrificing the accuracy. To tackle this problem, we propose a parallel inference network customized for semantic segmentation tasks to achieve a good trade-off between speed and accuracy. We employ a shallow backbone to ensure real-time speed, and propose three core components to compensate for the reduced model capacity to improve accuracy. Specifically, we first design a dual-pyramidal path architecture (Multi-level Feature Aggregation Module, MFAM) to aggregate multi-level features from the encoder to each scale, providing hierarchical clues for subsequent spatial alignment and corresponding in-network inference. Then, we build Recursive Alignment Module (RAM) by combining the flow-based alignment module with recursive upsampling architecture for accurate spatial alignment between multi-scale feature maps with half the computational complexity of the straightforward alignment method. Finally, we perform independent parallel inference on the aligned features to obtain multi-scale scores, and adaptively fuse them through an attention-based Adaptive Scores Fusion Module (ASFM) so that the final prediction can favor objects of multiple scales. Our framework shows a better balance between speed and accuracy than state-of-the-art real-time methods on Cityscapes and CamVid datasets. Sharpness-Aware Minimization Revisited: Weighted Sharpness as a Regularization Term

Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) generalization is known to be closely related to the flatness of minima, leading to the development of Sharpness-Aware Minimization (SAM) for seeking flatter minima and better generalization. In this paper, we revisit the loss of SAM and propose a more general method, called WSAM, by incorporating sharpness as a regularization term. We prove its generalization bound through the combination of PAC and Bayes-PAC techniques, and evaluate its performance on various public datasets. The results demonstrate that WSAM achieves improved generalization, or is at least highly competitive, compared to the vanilla optimizer, SAM and its variants. TRAP: Tail-aware Ranking Attack for World-Model Planning

World models enable long-horizon planning by internally generating and evaluating imagined trajectories, making them a promising foundation for generalist agents. However, this imagination-driven decision process also introduces new security risks. Existing backdoor attacks typically aim to manipulate local features, one-step predictions, or instantaneous policy outputs. While such objectives may suffice for weaker reactive models, they are often ineffective against world models, where the learned dynamics prior and planning process can absorb or wash out the effects of shallow perturbations. More importantly, we find that world models exhibit a distinct backdoor vulnerability rooted in the long-tailed ranking structure of imagined trajectories, where disrupting the ordering of a few decision-critical trajectories can systematically hijack planning. To exploit this vulnerability, we propose TRAP, a backdoor attack framework for world models that targets imagined trajectory ranking. TRAP combines a tail-aware ranking loss to focus optimization on decision-critical trajectories with dual gating mechanisms that stabilize optimization and regulate when and where the attack penalty is applied. Under trigger conditions, TRAP alters the relative ranking of imagined trajectories to redirect planning outcomes, while largely maintaining the normal ranking structure on clean inputs. Experiments on DreamerV3 and TD-MPC2 across diverse tasks show that TRAP consistently induces sustained behavioral deviations and significant performance degradation, highlighting the need for dedicated security evaluation of world-model-based agents.

FCL-COD: Weakly Supervised Camouflaged Object Detection with Frequency-aware and Contrastive Learning

Existing camouflage object detection (COD) methods typically rely on fully-supervised learning guided by mask annotations. However, obtaining mask annotations is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Compared to fully-supervised methods, existing weakly-supervised COD methods exhibit significantly poorer performance. Even for the Segment Anything Model (SAM), there are still challenges in handling weakly-supervised camouflage object detection (WSCOD), such as: a. non-camouflage target responses, b. local responses, c. extreme responses, and d. lack of refined boundary awareness, which leads to unsatisfactory results in camouflage scenes. To alleviate these issues, we propose a frequency-aware and contrastive learning-based WSCOD framework in this paper, named FCL-COD. To mitigate the problem of non-camouflaged object responses, we propose the Frequency-aware Low-rank Adaptation (FoRA) method, which incorporates frequency-aware camouflage scene knowledge into SAM. To overcome the challenges of local and extreme responses, we introduce a gradient-aware contrastive learning approach that effectively delineates precise foreground-background boundaries. Additionally, to address the lack of refined boundary perception, we present a multi-scale frequency-aware representation learning strategy that facilitates the modeling of more refined boundaries. We validate the effectiveness of our approach through extensive empirical experiments on three widely recognized COD benchmarks. The results confirm that our method surpasses both state-of-the-art weakly supervised and even fully supervised techniques.
