Twin Trigger Generative Networks for Backdoor Attacks against Object Detection

Object detectors, which are widely used in real-world applications, are vulnerable to backdoor attacks. This vulnerability arises because many users rely on datasets or pre-trained models provided by third parties due to constraints on data and resources. However, most research on backdoor attacks has focused on image classification, with limited investigation into object detection. Furthermore, the triggers for most existing backdoor attacks on object detection are manually generated, requiring prior knowledge and consistent patterns between the training and inference stages. This approach makes the attacks either easy to detect or difficult to adapt to various scenarios. To address these limitations, we propose novel twin trigger generative networks in the frequency domain to generate invisible triggers for implanting stealthy backdoors into models during training, and visible triggers for steady activation during inference, making the attack process difficult to trace. Specifically, for the invisible trigger generative network, we deploy a Gaussian smoothing layer and a high-frequency artifact classifier to enhance the stealthiness of backdoor implantation in object detectors. For the visible trigger generative network, we design a novel alignment loss to optimize the visible triggers so that they differ from the original patterns but still align with the malicious activation behavior of the invisible triggers. Extensive experimental results and analyses prove the possibility of using different triggers in the training stage and the inference stage, and demonstrate the attack effectiveness of our proposed visible trigger and invisible trigger generative networks, significantly reducing the mAP_0.5 of the object detectors by 70.0% and 84.5%, including YOLOv5 and YOLOv7 with different settings, respectively.

Black-box Adversaries from Latent Space: Unnoticeable Attacks on Human Pose and Shape Estimation

Expressive human pose and shape (EHPS) estimation is vital for digital human generation, particularly in live-streaming applications. However, most existing EHPS models focus primarily on minimizing estimation errors, with limited attention on potential security vulnerabilities. Current adversarial attacks on EHPS models often require white-box access (e.g., model details or gradients) or generate visually conspicuous perturbations, limiting their practicality and ability to expose real-world security threats. To address these limitations, we propose a novel Unnoticeable Black-Box Attack (UBA) against EHPS models. UBA leverages the latent-space representations of natural images to generate an optimal adversarial noise pattern and iteratively refine its attack potency along an optimized direction in digital space. Crucially, this process relies solely on querying the model's output, requiring no internal knowledge of the EHPS architecture, while guiding the noise optimization toward greater stealth and effectiveness. Extensive experiments and visual analyses demonstrate the superiority of UBA. Notably, UBA increases the pose estimation errors of EHPS models by 17.27%-58.21% on average, revealing critical vulnerabilities. These findings underscore the urgent need to address and mitigate security risks associated with digital human generation systems.

Ranking Entity Based on Both of Word Frequency and Word Sematic Features

Entity search is a new application meeting either precise or vague requirements from the search engines users. Baidu Cup 2016 Challenge just provided such a chance to tackle the problem of the entity search. We achieved the first place with the average MAP scores on 4 tasks including movie, tvShow, celebrity and restaurant. In this paper, we propose a series of similarity features based on both of the word frequency features and the word semantic features and describe our ranking architecture and experiment details.

Combination of Multiple Bipartite Ranking for Web Content Quality Evaluation

Web content quality estimation is crucial to various web content processing applications. Our previous work applied Bagging + C4.5 to achive the best results on the ECML/PKDD Discovery Challenge 2010, which is the comibination of many point-wise rankinig models. In this paper, we combine multiple pair-wise bipartite ranking learner to solve the multi-partite ranking problems for the web quality estimation. In encoding stage, we present the ternary encoding and the binary coding extending each rank value to $L - 1$ (L is the number of the different ranking value). For the decoding, we discuss the combination of multiple ranking results from multiple bipartite ranking models with the predefined weighting and the adaptive weighting. The experiments on ECML/PKDD 2010 Discovery Challenge datasets show that \textit{binary coding} + \textit{predefined weighting} yields the highest performance in all four combinations and furthermore it is better than the best results reported in ECML/PKDD 2010 Discovery Challenge competition.

Evaluating Web Content Quality via Multi-scale Features

Web content quality measurement is crucial to various web content processing applications. This paper will explore multi-scale features which may affect the quality of a host, and develop automatic statistical methods to evaluate the Web content quality. The extracted properties include statistical content features, page and host level link features and TFIDF features. The experiments on ECML/PKDD 2010 Discovery Challenge data set show that the algorithm is effective and feasible for the quality tasks of multiple languages, and the multi-scale features have different identification ability and provide good complement to each other for most tasks.

A Taxonomy of Hyperlink Hiding Techniques

Hidden links are designed solely for search engines rather than visitors. To get high search engine rankings, link hiding techniques are usually used for the profitability of black industries, such as illicit game servers, false medical services, illegal gambling, and less attractive high-profit industry, etc. This paper investigates hyperlink hiding techniques on the Web, and gives a detailed taxonomy. We believe the taxonomy can help develop appropriate countermeasures. Study on 5,583,451 Chinese sites' home pages indicate that link hidden techniques are very prevalent on the Web. We also tried to explore the attitude of Google towards link hiding spam by analyzing the PageRank values of relative links. The results show that more should be done to punish the hidden link spam.

Linear NDCG and Pair-wise Loss
