Semi-Supervised Segmentation of Multi-vendor and Multi-center Cardiac MRI using Histogram MatchingMahyar Bolhassani, Ilkay Oksuz
Automatic segmentation of the heart cavity is an essential task for the diagnosis of cardiac diseases. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised segmentation setup for leveraging unlabeled data to segment Left-ventricle, Right-ventricle, and Myocardium. We utilize an enhanced version of residual U-Net architecture on a large-scale cardiac MRI dataset. Handling the class imbalanced data issue using dice loss, the enhanced supervised model is able to achieve better dice scores in comparison with a vanilla U-Net model. We applied several augmentation techniques including histogram matching to increase the performance of our model in other domains. Also, we introduce a simple but efficient semi-supervised segmentation method to improve segmentation results without the need for large labeled data. Finally, we applied our method on two benchmark datasets, STACOM2018, and M\&Ms 2020 challenges, to show the potency of the proposed model. The effectiveness of our proposed model is demonstrated by the quantitative results. The model achieves average dice scores of 0.921, 0.926, and 0.891 for Left-ventricle, Right-ventricle, and Myocardium respectively.

LoRA-fine-tuned Large Vision Models for Automated Assessment of Post-SBRT Lung InjuryM. Bolhassani, B. Veasey, E. Daugherty et al.
This study investigates the efficacy of Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) for fine-tuning large Vision Models, DinoV2 and SwinV2, to diagnose Radiation-Induced Lung Injury (RILI) from X-ray CT scans following Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). To evaluate the robustness and efficiency of this approach, we compare LoRA with traditional full fine-tuning and inference-only (no fine-tuning) methods. Cropped images of two sizes (50 mm3 and 75 mm3), centered at the treatment isocenter, in addition to different adaptation techniques for adapting the 2D LVMs for 3D data were used to determine the sensitivity of the models to spatial context. Experimental results show that LoRA achieves comparable or superior performance to traditional fine-tuning while significantly reducing computational costs and training times by requiring fewer trainable parameters.
Transfer learning approach to Classify the X-ray image that corresponds to corona disease Using ResNet50 pretrained by ChexNetMahyar Bolhassani
Coronavirus adversely has affected people worldwide. There are common symptoms between the Covid19 virus disease and other respiratory diseases like pneumonia or Influenza. Therefore, diagnosing it fast is crucial not only to save patients but also to prevent it from spreading. One of the most reliant methods of diagnosis is through X-ray images of a lung. With the help of deep learning approaches, we can teach the deep model to learn the condition of an affected lung. Therefore, it can classify the new sample as if it is a Covid19 infected patient or not. In this project, we train a deep model based on ResNet50 pretrained by ImageNet dataset and CheXNet dataset. Based on the imbalanced CoronaHack Chest X-Ray dataset introducing by Kaggle we applied both binary and multi-class classification. Also, we compare the results when using Focal loss and Cross entropy loss.
