OKG: On-the-Fly Keyword Generation in Sponsored Search Advertising

Zhao Wang, Briti Gangopadhyay, Mengjie Zhao et al.

Current keyword decision-making in sponsored search advertising relies on large, static datasets, limiting the ability to automatically set up keywords and adapt to real-time KPI metrics and product updates that are essential for effective advertising. In this paper, we propose On-the-fly Keyword Generation (OKG), an LLM agent-based method that dynamically monitors KPI changes and adapts keyword generation in real time, aligning with strategies recommended by advertising platforms. Additionally, we introduce the first publicly accessible dataset containing real keyword data along with its KPIs across diverse domains, providing a valuable resource for future research. Experimental results show that OKG significantly improves keyword adaptability and responsiveness compared to traditional methods. The code for OKG and the dataset are available at https://github.com/sony/okg.

CoAR: Concept Injection into Autoregressive Models for Personalized Text-to-Image Generation

Fangtai Wu, Mushui Liu, Weijie He et al.

The unified autoregressive (AR) model excels at multimodal understanding and generation, but its potential for customized image generation remains underexplored. Existing customized generation methods rely on full fine-tuning or adapters, making them costly and prone to overfitting or catastrophic forgetting. In this paper, we propose \textbf{CoAR}, a novel framework for injecting subject concepts into the unified AR models while keeping all pre-trained parameters completely frozen. CoAR learns effective, specific subject representations with only a minimal number of parameters using a Layerwise Multimodal Context Learning strategy. To address overfitting and language drift, we further introduce regularization that preserves the pre-trained distribution and anchors context tokens to improve subject fidelity and re-contextualization. Additionally, CoAR supports training-free subject customization in a user-provided style. Experiments demonstrate that CoAR achieves superior performance on both subject-driven personalization and style personalization, while delivering significant gains in computational and memory efficiency. Notably, CoAR tunes less than \textbf{0.05\%} of the parameters while achieving competitive performance compared to recent Proxy-Tuning. Code: https://github.com/KZF-kzf/CoAR

NerfingMVS: Guided Optimization of Neural Radiance Fields for Indoor Multi-view Stereo

Yi Wei, Shaohui Liu, Yongming Rao et al.

In this work, we present a new multi-view depth estimation method that utilizes both conventional reconstruction and learning-based priors over the recently proposed neural radiance fields (NeRF). Unlike existing neural network based optimization method that relies on estimated correspondences, our method directly optimizes over implicit volumes, eliminating the challenging step of matching pixels in indoor scenes. The key to our approach is to utilize the learning-based priors to guide the optimization process of NeRF. Our system firstly adapts a monocular depth network over the target scene by finetuning on its sparse SfM+MVS reconstruction from COLMAP. Then, we show that the shape-radiance ambiguity of NeRF still exists in indoor environments and propose to address the issue by employing the adapted depth priors to monitor the sampling process of volume rendering. Finally, a per-pixel confidence map acquired by error computation on the rendered image can be used to further improve the depth quality. Experiments show that our proposed framework significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on indoor scenes, with surprising findings presented on the effectiveness of correspondence-based optimization and NeRF-based optimization over the adapted depth priors. In addition, we show that the guided optimization scheme does not sacrifice the original synthesis capability of neural radiance fields, improving the rendering quality on both seen and novel views. Towards Better Generalization: Joint Depth-Pose Learning without PoseNet

Wang Zhao, Shaohui Liu, Yezhi Shu et al.

In this work, we tackle the essential problem of scale inconsistency for self-supervised joint depth-pose learning. Most existing methods assume that a consistent scale of depth and pose can be learned across all input samples, which makes the learning problem harder, resulting in degraded performance and limited generalization in indoor environments and long-sequence visual odometry application. To address this issue, we propose a novel system that explicitly disentangles scale from the network estimation. Instead of relying on PoseNet architecture, our method recovers relative pose by directly solving fundamental matrix from dense optical flow correspondence and makes use of a two-view triangulation module to recover an up-to-scale 3D structure. Then, we align the scale of the depth prediction with the triangulated point cloud and use the transformed depth map for depth error computation and dense reprojection check. Our whole system can be jointly trained end-to-end. Extensive experiments show that our system not only reaches state-of-the-art performance on KITTI depth and flow estimation, but also significantly improves the generalization ability of existing self-supervised depth-pose learning methods under a variety of challenging scenarios, and achieves state-of-the-art results among self-supervised learning-based methods on KITTI Odometry and NYUv2 dataset. Furthermore, we present some interesting findings on the limitation of PoseNet-based relative pose estimation methods in terms of generalization ability. AlphaTablets: A Generic Plane Representation for 3D Planar Reconstruction from Monocular Videos

Yuze He, Wang Zhao, Shaohui Liu et al.

We introduce AlphaTablets, a novel and generic representation of 3D planes that features continuous 3D surface and precise boundary delineation. By representing 3D planes as rectangles with alpha channels, AlphaTablets combine the advantages of current 2D and 3D plane representations, enabling accurate, consistent and flexible modeling of 3D planes. We derive differentiable rasterization on top of AlphaTablets to efficiently render 3D planes into images, and propose a novel bottom-up pipeline for 3D planar reconstruction from monocular videos. Starting with 2D superpixels and geometric cues from pre-trained models, we initialize 3D planes as AlphaTablets and optimize them via differentiable rendering. An effective merging scheme is introduced to facilitate the growth and refinement of AlphaTablets. Through iterative optimization and merging, we reconstruct complete and accurate 3D planes with solid surfaces and clear boundaries. Extensive experiments on the ScanNet dataset demonstrate state-of-the-art performance in 3D planar reconstruction, underscoring the great potential of AlphaTablets as a generic 3D plane representation for various applications. Adaptive Budget Optimization for Multichannel Advertising Using Combinatorial Bandits

Briti Gangopadhyay, Zhao Wang, Alberto Silvio Chiappa et al.

Effective budget allocation is crucial for optimizing the performance of digital advertising campaigns. However, the development of practical budget allocation algorithms remain limited, primarily due to the lack of public datasets and comprehensive simulation environments capable of verifying the intricacies of real-world advertising. While multi-armed bandit (MAB) algorithms have been extensively studied, their efficacy diminishes in non-stationary environments where quick adaptation to changing market dynamics is essential. In this paper, we advance the field of budget allocation in digital advertising by introducing three key contributions. First, we develop a simulation environment designed to mimic multichannel advertising campaigns over extended time horizons, incorporating logged real-world data. Second, we propose an enhanced combinatorial bandit budget allocation strategy that leverages a saturating mean function and a targeted exploration mechanism with change-point detection. This approach dynamically adapts to changing market conditions, improving allocation efficiency by filtering target regions based on domain knowledge. Finally, we present both theoretical analysis and empirical results, demonstrating that our method consistently outperforms baseline strategies, achieving higher rewards and lower regret across multiple real-world campaigns.

Augmenting Offline RL with Unlabeled Data

Zhao Wang, Briti Gangopadhyay, Jia-Fong Yeh et al.

Recent advancements in offline Reinforcement Learning (Offline RL) have led to an increased focus on methods based on conservative policy updates to address the Out-of-Distribution (OOD) issue. These methods typically involve adding behavior regularization or modifying the critic learning objective, focusing primarily on states or actions with substantial dataset support. However, we challenge this prevailing notion by asserting that the absence of an action or state from a dataset does not necessarily imply its suboptimality. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to tackle the OOD problem. We introduce an offline RL teacher-student framework, complemented by a policy similarity measure. This framework enables the student policy to gain insights not only from the offline RL dataset but also from the knowledge transferred by a teacher policy. The teacher policy is trained using another dataset consisting of state-action pairs, which can be viewed as practical domain knowledge acquired without direct interaction with the environment. We believe this additional knowledge is key to effectively solving the OOD issue. This research represents a significant advancement in integrating a teacher-student network into the actor-critic framework, opening new avenues for studies on knowledge transfer in offline RL and effectively addressing the OOD challenge.

A Cross Channel Context Model for Latents in Deep Image Compression

Changyue Ma, Zhao Wang, Ruling Liao et al.

This paper presents a cross channel context model for latents in deep image compression. Generally, deep image compression is based on an autoencoder framework, which transforms the original image to latents at the encoder and recovers the reconstructed image from the quantized latents at the decoder. The transform is usually combined with an entropy model, which estimates the probability distribution of the quantized latents for arithmetic coding. Currently, joint autoregressive and hierarchical prior entropy models are widely adopted to capture both the global contexts from the hyper latents and the local contexts from the quantized latent elements. For the local contexts, the widely adopted 2D mask convolution can only capture the spatial context. However, we observe that there are strong correlations between different channels in the latents. To utilize the cross channel correlations, we propose to divide the latents into several groups according to channel index and code the groups one by one, where previously coded groups are utilized to provide cross channel context for the current group. The proposed cross channel context model is combined with the joint autoregressive and hierarchical prior entropy model. Experimental results show that, using PSNR as the distortion metric, the combined model achieves BD-rate reductions of 6.30% and 6.31% over the baseline entropy model, and 2.50% and 2.20% over the latest video coding standard Versatile Video Coding (VVC) for the Kodak and CVPR CLIC2020 professional dataset, respectively. In addition, when optimized for the MS-SSIM metric, our approach generates visually more pleasant reconstructed images.

Conditional Single-view Shape Generation for Multi-view Stereo Reconstruction

Yi Wei, Shaohui Liu, Wang Zhao et al.

In this paper, we present a new perspective towards image-based shape generation. Most existing deep learning based shape reconstruction methods employ a single-view deterministic model which is sometimes insufficient to determine a single groundtruth shape because the back part is occluded. In this work, we first introduce a conditional generative network to model the uncertainty for single-view reconstruction. Then, we formulate the task of multi-view reconstruction as taking the intersection of the predicted shape spaces on each single image. We design new differentiable guidance including the front constraint, the diversity constraint, and the consistency loss to enable effective single-view conditional generation and multi-view synthesis. Experimental results and ablation studies show that our proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods on 3D reconstruction test error and demonstrate its generalization ability on real world data.

GSPN: Generative Shape Proposal Network for 3D Instance Segmentation in Point Cloud

Li Yi, Wang Zhao, He Wang et al.

We introduce a novel 3D object proposal approach named Generative Shape Proposal Network (GSPN) for instance segmentation in point cloud data. Instead of treating object proposal as a direct bounding box regression problem, we take an analysis-by-synthesis strategy and generate proposals by reconstructing shapes from noisy observations in a scene. We incorporate GSPN into a novel 3D instance segmentation framework named Region-based PointNet (R-PointNet) which allows flexible proposal refinement and instance segmentation generation. We achieve state-of-the-art performance on several 3D instance segmentation tasks. The success of GSPN largely comes from its emphasis on geometric understandings during object proposal, which greatly reducing proposals with low objectness.
