Prompting Diffusion Representations for Cross-Domain Semantic SegmentationRui Gong, Martin Danelljan, Han Sun et al.
While originally designed for image generation, diffusion models have recently shown to provide excellent pretrained feature representations for semantic segmentation. Intrigued by this result, we set out to explore how well diffusion-pretrained representations generalize to new domains, a crucial ability for any representation. We find that diffusion-pretraining achieves extraordinary domain generalization results for semantic segmentation, outperforming both supervised and self-supervised backbone networks. Motivated by this, we investigate how to utilize the model's unique ability of taking an input prompt, in order to further enhance its cross-domain performance. We introduce a scene prompt and a prompt randomization strategy to help further disentangle the domain-invariant information when training the segmentation head. Moreover, we propose a simple but highly effective approach for test-time domain adaptation, based on learning a scene prompt on the target domain in an unsupervised manner. Extensive experiments conducted on four synthetic-to-real and clear-to-adverse weather benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our approaches. Without resorting to any complex techniques, such as image translation, augmentation, or rare-class sampling, we set a new state-of-the-art on all benchmarks. One-Shot Domain Adaptive and Generalizable Semantic Segmentation with Class-Aware Cross-Domain TransformersRui Gong, Qin Wang, Dengxin Dai et al. · eth-zurich
Unsupervised sim-to-real domain adaptation (UDA) for semantic segmentation aims to improve the real-world test performance of a model trained on simulated data. It can save the cost of manually labeling data in real-world applications such as robot vision and autonomous driving. Traditional UDA often assumes that there are abundant unlabeled real-world data samples available during training for the adaptation. However, such an assumption does not always hold in practice owing to the collection difficulty and the scarcity of the data. Thus, we aim to relieve this need on a large number of real data, and explore the one-shot unsupervised sim-to-real domain adaptation (OSUDA) and generalization (OSDG) problem, where only one real-world data sample is available. To remedy the limited real data knowledge, we first construct the pseudo-target domain by stylizing the simulated data with the one-shot real data. To mitigate the sim-to-real domain gap on both the style and spatial structure level and facilitate the sim-to-real adaptation, we further propose to use class-aware cross-domain transformers with an intermediate domain randomization strategy to extract the domain-invariant knowledge, from both the simulated and pseudo-target data. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach for OSUDA and OSDG on different benchmarks, outperforming the state-of-the-art methods by a large margin, 10.87, 9.59, 13.05 and 15.91 mIoU on GTA, SYNTHIA$\rightarrow$Cityscapes, Foggy Cityscapes, respectively.

SF-FSDA: Source-Free Few-Shot Domain Adaptive Object Detection with Efficient Labeled Data FactoryHan Sun, Rui Gong, Konrad Schindler et al.
Domain adaptive object detection aims to leverage the knowledge learned from a labeled source domain to improve the performance on an unlabeled target domain. Prior works typically require the access to the source domain data for adaptation, and the availability of sufficient data on the target domain. However, these assumptions may not hold due to data privacy and rare data collection. In this paper, we propose and investigate a more practical and challenging domain adaptive object detection problem under both source-free and few-shot conditions, named as SF-FSDA. To overcome this problem, we develop an efficient labeled data factory based approach. Without accessing the source domain, the data factory renders i) infinite amount of synthesized target-domain like images, under the guidance of the few-shot image samples and text description from the target domain; ii) corresponding bounding box and category annotations, only demanding minimum human effort, i.e., a few manually labeled examples. On the one hand, the synthesized images mitigate the knowledge insufficiency brought by the few-shot condition. On the other hand, compared to the popular pseudo-label technique, the generated annotations from data factory not only get rid of the reliance on the source pretrained object detection model, but also alleviate the unavoidably pseudo-label noise due to domain shift and source-free condition. The generated dataset is further utilized to adapt the source pretrained object detection model, realizing the robust object detection under SF-FSDA. The experiments on different settings showcase that our proposed approach outperforms other state-of-the-art methods on SF-FSDA problem. Our codes and models will be made publicly available.

GGViT:Multistream Vision Transformer Network in Face2Face Facial Reenactment DetectionHaotian Wu, Peipei Wang, Xin Wang et al.
Detecting manipulated facial images and videos on social networks has been an urgent problem to be solved. The compression of videos on social media has destroyed some pixel details that could be used to detect forgeries. Hence, it is crucial to detect manipulated faces in videos of different quality. We propose a new multi-stream network architecture named GGViT, which utilizes global information to improve the generalization of the model. The embedding of the whole face extracted by ViT will guide each stream network. Through a large number of experiments, we have proved that our proposed model achieves state-of-the-art classification accuracy on FF++ dataset, and has been greatly improved on scenarios of different compression rates. The accuracy of Raw/C23, Raw/C40 and C23/C40 was increased by 24.34%, 15.08% and 10.14% respectively.

WisPaper: Your AI Scholar Search EngineLi Ju, Jun Zhao, Mingxu Chai et al.
Researchers struggle to efficiently locate and manage relevant literature within the exponentially growing body of scientific publications. We present \textsc{WisPaper}, an intelligent academic retrieval and literature management platform that addresses this challenge through three integrated capabilities: (1) \textit{Scholar Search}, featuring both quick keyword-based and deep agentic search modes for efficient paper discovery; (2) \textit{Library}, a customizable knowledge base for systematic literature organization; and (3) \textit{AI Feeds}, an intelligent recommendation system that automatically delivers relevant new publications based on user interests. Unlike existing academic tools, \textsc{WisPaper} provides a closed-loop workflow that seamlessly connects literature discovery, management, and continuous tracking of research frontiers. Our multilingual and multidisciplinary system significantly reduces the time researchers from diverse backgrounds spend on paper screening and management, enabling them to focus on their core research activities. The platform is publicly accessible and serves researchers across academia and industry.

IncreRTL: Traceability-Guided Incremental RTL Generation under Requirement EvolutionLuanrong Chen, Renzhi Chen, Xinyu Li et al.
Large language models (LLMs) have shown promise in generating RTL code from natural-language descriptions, but existing methods remain static and struggle to adapt to evolving design requirements, potentially causing structural drift and costly full regeneration. We propose IncreRTL, a LLM-driven framework for incremental RTL generation under requirement evolution. By constructing requirement-code traceability links to locate and regenerate affected code segments, IncreRTL achieves accurate and consistent updates. Evaluated on our newly constructed EvoRTL-Bench, IncreRTL demonstrates notable improvements in regeneration consistency and efficiency, advancing LLM-based RTL generation toward practical engineering deployment.

DynAlign: Unsupervised Dynamic Taxonomy Alignment for Cross-Domain SegmentationHan Sun, Rui Gong, Ismail Nejjar et al.
Current unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) methods for semantic segmentation typically assume identical class labels between the source and target domains. This assumption ignores the label-level domain gap, which is common in real-world scenarios, thus limiting their ability to identify finer-grained or novel categories without requiring extensive manual annotation. A promising direction to address this limitation lies in recent advancements in foundation models, which exhibit strong generalization abilities due to their rich prior knowledge. However, these models often struggle with domain-specific nuances and underrepresented fine-grained categories. To address these challenges, we introduce DynAlign, a framework that integrates UDA with foundation models to bridge both the image-level and label-level domain gaps. Our approach leverages prior semantic knowledge to align source categories with target categories that can be novel, more fine-grained, or named differently (e.g., vehicle to {car, truck, bus}). Foundation models are then employed for precise segmentation and category reassignment. To further enhance accuracy, we propose a knowledge fusion approach that dynamically adapts to varying scene contexts. DynAlign generates accurate predictions in a new target label space without requiring any manual annotations, allowing seamless adaptation to new taxonomies through either model retraining or direct inference. Experiments on the street scene semantic segmentation benchmarks GTA to Mapillary Vistas and GTA to IDD validate the effectiveness of our approach, achieving a significant improvement over existing methods. Traditional domain adaptive semantic segmentation addresses the task of adapting a model to a novel target domain under limited or no additional supervision. While tackling the input domain gap, the standard domain adaptation settings assume no domain change in the output space. In semantic prediction tasks, different datasets are often labeled according to different semantic taxonomies. In many real-world settings, the target domain task requires a different taxonomy than the one imposed by the source domain. We therefore introduce the more general taxonomy adaptive cross-domain semantic segmentation (TACS) problem, allowing for inconsistent taxonomies between the two domains. We further propose an approach that jointly addresses the image-level and label-level domain adaptation. On the label-level, we employ a bilateral mixed sampling strategy to augment the target domain, and a relabelling method to unify and align the label spaces. We address the image-level domain gap by proposing an uncertainty-rectified contrastive learning method, leading to more domain-invariant and class-discriminative features. We extensively evaluate the effectiveness of our framework under different TACS settings: open taxonomy, coarse-to-fine taxonomy, and implicitly-overlapping taxonomy. Our approach outperforms the previous state-of-the-art by a large margin, while being capable of adapting to target taxonomies. DLOW: Domain Flow for Adaptation and GeneralizationRui Gong, Wen Li, Yuhua Chen et al.
In this work, we present a domain flow generation(DLOW) model to bridge two different domains by generating a continuous sequence of intermediate domains flowing from one domain to the other. The benefits of our DLOW model are two-fold. First, it is able to transfer source images into different styles in the intermediate domains. The transferred images smoothly bridge the gap between source and target domains, thus easing the domain adaptation task. Second, when multiple target domains are provided for training, our DLOW model is also able to generate new styles of images that are unseen in the training data. We implement our DLOW model based on CycleGAN. A domainness variable is introduced to guide the model to generate the desired intermediate domain images. In the inference phase, a flow of various styles of images can be obtained by varying the domainness variable. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our model for both cross-domain semantic segmentation and the style generalization tasks on benchmark datasets. EMPD: An Event-based Multimodal Physiological Dataset for Remote Pulse Wave DetectionQian Feng, Pengfei Li, Rongshan Gao et al.
Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) based on traditional frame-based cameras often struggles with motion artifacts and limited temporal resolution. To address these limitations, we introduce EMPD (Event-based Multimodal Physiological Dataset), the first benchmark dataset specifically designed for non-contact physiological sensing via event cameras. The dataset leverages a laser-assisted acquisition system where a high-coherence laser modulates subtle skin vibrations from the radial artery into significant signals detectable by a neuromorphic sensor. The hardware platform integrates a high-resolution event camera to capture micro-motions and intensity transients, an industrial RGB camera to provide traditional rPPG benchmarks, and a clinical-grade pulse oximeter to record ground truth PPG waveforms. EMPD contains 193 valid records collected from 83 subjects, covering a wide heart rate range (40-110 BPM) under both resting and post-exercise conditions. By providing precisely synchronized multimodal data with microsecond-level temporal precision, EMPD serves as a crucial resource for developing robust algorithms in the field of neuromorphic physiological monitoring. Learning Intra-view and Cross-view Geometric Knowledge for Stereo MatchingRui Gong, Weide Liu, Zaiwang Gu et al.
Geometric knowledge has been shown to be beneficial for the stereo matching task. However, prior attempts to integrate geometric insights into stereo matching algorithms have largely focused on geometric knowledge from single images while crucial cross-view factors such as occlusion and matching uniqueness have been overlooked. To address this gap, we propose a novel Intra-view and Cross-view Geometric knowledge learning Network (ICGNet), specifically crafted to assimilate both intra-view and cross-view geometric knowledge. ICGNet harnesses the power of interest points to serve as a channel for intra-view geometric understanding. Simultaneously, it employs the correspondences among these points to capture cross-view geometric relationships. This dual incorporation empowers the proposed ICGNet to leverage both intra-view and cross-view geometric knowledge in its learning process, substantially improving its ability to estimate disparities. Our extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the ICGNet over contemporary leading models.

A Structure-aware and Motion-adaptive Framework for 3D Human Pose Estimation with MambaYe Lu, Jie Wang, Jianjun Gao et al.
Recent Mamba-based methods for the pose-lifting task tend to model joint dependencies by 2D-to-1D mapping with diverse scanning strategies. Though effective, they struggle to model intricate joint connections and uniformly process all joint motion trajectories while neglecting the intrinsic differences across motion characteristics. In this work, we propose a structure-aware and motion-adaptive framework to capture spatial joint topology along with diverse motion dynamics independently, named as SAMA. Specifically, SAMA consists of a Structure-aware State Integrator (SSI) and a Motion-adaptive State Modulator (MSM). The Structure-aware State Integrator is tasked with leveraging dynamic joint relationships to fuse information at both the joint feature and state levels in the state space, based on pose topology rather than sequential state transitions. The Motion-adaptive State Modulator is responsible for joint-specific motion characteristics recognition, thus applying tailored adjustments to diverse motion patterns across different joints. Through the above key modules, our algorithm enables structure-aware and motion-adaptive pose lifting. Extensive experiments across multiple benchmarks demonstrate that our algorithm achieves advanced results with fewer computational costs.

Self-Supervised Pretraining and Controlled Augmentation Improve Rare Wildlife Recognition in UAV ImagesXiaochen Zheng, Benjamin Kellenberger, Rui Gong et al.
Automated animal censuses with aerial imagery are a vital ingredient towards wildlife conservation. Recent models are generally based on deep learning and thus require vast amounts of training data. Due to their scarcity and minuscule size, annotating animals in aerial imagery is a highly tedious process. In this project, we present a methodology to reduce the amount of required training data by resorting to self-supervised pretraining. In detail, we examine a combination of recent contrastive learning methodologies like Momentum Contrast (MoCo) and Cross-Level Instance-Group Discrimination (CLD) to condition our model on the aerial images without the requirement for labels. We show that a combination of MoCo, CLD, and geometric augmentations outperforms conventional models pre-trained on ImageNet by a large margin. Crucially, our method still yields favorable results even if we reduce the number of training animals to just 10%, at which point our best model scores double the recall of the baseline at similar precision. This effectively allows reducing the number of required annotations to a fraction while still being able to train high-accuracy models in such highly challenging settings.

A Plant Root System Algorithm Based on Swarm Intelligence for One-dimensional Biomedical Signal Feature EngineeringRui Gong, Kazunori Hase
To date, very few biomedical signals have transitioned from research applications to clinical applications. This is largely due to the lack of trust in the diagnostic ability of non-stationary signals. To reach the level of clinical diagnostic application, classification using high-quality signal features is necessary. While there has been considerable progress in machine learning in recent years, especially deep learning, progress has been quite limited in the field of feature engineering. This study proposes a feature extraction algorithm based on group intelligence which we call a Plant Root System (PRS) algorithm. Importantly, the correlation between features produced by this PRS algorithm and traditional features is low, and the accuracy of several widely-used classifiers was found to be substantially improved with the addition of PRS features. It is expected that more biomedical signals can be applied to clinical diagnosis using the proposed algorithm.

mDALU: Multi-Source Domain Adaptation and Label Unification with Partial DatasetsRui Gong, Dengxin Dai, Yuhua Chen et al.
One challenge of object recognition is to generalize to new domains, to more classes and/or to new modalities. This necessitates methods to combine and reuse existing datasets that may belong to different domains, have partial annotations, and/or have different data modalities. This paper formulates this as a multi-source domain adaptation and label unification problem, and proposes a novel method for it. Our method consists of a partially-supervised adaptation stage and a fully-supervised adaptation stage. In the former, partial knowledge is transferred from multiple source domains to the target domain and fused therein. Negative transfer between unmatching label spaces is mitigated via three new modules: domain attention, uncertainty maximization and attention-guided adversarial alignment. In the latter, knowledge is transferred in the unified label space after a label completion process with pseudo-labels. Extensive experiments on three different tasks - image classification, 2D semantic image segmentation, and joint 2D-3D semantic segmentation - show that our method outperforms all competing methods significantly.

Cluster, Split, Fuse, and Update: Meta-Learning for Open Compound Domain Adaptive Semantic SegmentationRui Gong, Yuhua Chen, Danda Pani Paudel et al.
Open compound domain adaptation (OCDA) is a domain adaptation setting, where target domain is modeled as a compound of multiple unknown homogeneous domains, which brings the advantage of improved generalization to unseen domains. In this work, we propose a principled meta-learning based approach to OCDA for semantic segmentation, MOCDA, by modeling the unlabeled target domain continuously. Our approach consists of four key steps. First, we cluster target domain into multiple sub-target domains by image styles, extracted in an unsupervised manner. Then, different sub-target domains are split into independent branches, for which batch normalization parameters are learnt to treat them independently. A meta-learner is thereafter deployed to learn to fuse sub-target domain-specific predictions, conditioned upon the style code. Meanwhile, we learn to online update the model by model-agnostic meta-learning (MAML) algorithm, thus to further improve generalization. We validate the benefits of our approach by extensive experiments on synthetic-to-real knowledge transfer benchmark datasets, where we achieve the state-of-the-art performance in both compound and open domains.

Self-Calibration Supported Robust Projective Structure-from-MotionRui Gong, Danda Pani Paudel, Ajad Chhatkuli et al.
Typical Structure-from-Motion (SfM) pipelines rely on finding correspondences across images, recovering the projective structure of the observed scene and upgrading it to a metric frame using camera self-calibration constraints. Solving each problem is mainly carried out independently from the others. For instance, camera self-calibration generally assumes correct matches and a good projective reconstruction have been obtained. In this paper, we propose a unified SfM method, in which the matching process is supported by self-calibration constraints. We use the idea that good matches should yield a valid calibration. In this process, we make use of the Dual Image of Absolute Quadric projection equations within a multiview correspondence framework, in order to obtain robust matching from a set of putative correspondences. The matching process classifies points as inliers or outliers, which is learned in an unsupervised manner using a deep neural network. Together with theoretical reasoning why the self-calibration constraints are necessary, we show experimental results demonstrating robust multiview matching and accurate camera calibration by exploiting these constraints.

Analogical Image Translation for Fog GenerationRui Gong, Dengxin Dai, Yuhua Chen et al.
Image-to-image translation is to map images from a given \emph{style} to another given \emph{style}. While exceptionally successful, current methods assume the availability of training images in both source and target domains, which does not always hold in practice. Inspired by humans' reasoning capability of analogy, we propose analogical image translation (AIT). Given images of two styles in the source domain: $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{A}^\prime$, along with images $\mathcal{B}$ of the first style in the target domain, learn a model to translate $\mathcal{B}$ to $\mathcal{B}^\prime$ in the target domain, such that $\mathcal{A}:\mathcal{A}^\prime ::\mathcal{B}:\mathcal{B}^\prime$. AIT is especially useful for translation scenarios in which training data of one style is hard to obtain but training data of the same two styles in another domain is available. For instance, in the case from normal conditions to extreme, rare conditions, obtaining real training images for the latter case is challenging but obtaining synthetic data for both cases is relatively easy. In this work, we are interested in adding adverse weather effects, more specifically fog effects, to images taken in clear weather. To circumvent the challenge of collecting real foggy images, AIT learns with synthetic clear-weather images, synthetic foggy images and real clear-weather images to add fog effects onto real clear-weather images without seeing any real foggy images during training. AIT achieves this zero-shot image translation capability by coupling a supervised training scheme in the synthetic domain, a cycle consistency strategy in the real domain, an adversarial training scheme between the two domains, and a novel network design. Experiments show the effectiveness of our method for zero-short image translation and its benefit for downstream tasks such as semantic foggy scene understanding.

MarmoNet: a pipeline for automated projection mapping of the common marmoset brain from whole-brain serial two-photon tomographyHenrik Skibbe, Akiya Watakabe, Ken Nakae et al.
Understanding the connectivity in the brain is an important prerequisite for understanding how the brain processes information. In the Brain/MINDS project, a connectivity study on marmoset brains uses two-photon microscopy fluorescence images of axonal projections to collect the neuron connectivity from defined brain regions at the mesoscopic scale. The processing of the images requires the detection and segmentation of the axonal tracer signal. The objective is to detect as much tracer signal as possible while not misclassifying other background structures as the signal. This can be challenging because of imaging noise, a cluttered image background, distortions or varying image contrast cause problems. We are developing MarmoNet, a pipeline that processes and analyzes tracer image data of the common marmoset brain. The pipeline incorporates state-of-the-art machine learning techniques based on artificial convolutional neural networks (CNN) and image registration techniques to extract and map all relevant information in a robust manner. The pipeline processes new images in a fully automated way. This report introduces the current state of the tracer signal analysis part of the pipeline.
