Machine Learning on generalized Complete Intersection Calabi-Yau Manifolds

Wei Cui, Xin Gao, Juntao Wang

Generalized Complete Intersection Calabi-Yau Manifold (gCICY) is a new construction of Calabi-Yau manifolds established recently. However, the generation of new gCICYs using standard algebraic method is very laborious. Due to this complexity, the number of gCICYs and their classification still remain unknown. In this paper, we try to make some progress in this direction using neural network. The results showed that our trained models can have a high precision on the existing type $(1,1)$ and type $(2,1)$ gCICYs in the literature. Moreover, They can achieve a $97\%$ precision in predicting new gCICY which is generated differently from those used for training and testing. This shows that machine learning could be an effective method to classify and generate new gCICY.

A Non-Uniform Low-Light Image Enhancement Method with Multi-Scale Attention Transformer and Luminance Consistency Loss

Xiao Fang, Xin Gao, Baofeng Li et al.

Low-light image enhancement aims to improve the perception of images collected in dim environments and provide high-quality data support for image recognition tasks. When dealing with photos captured under non-uniform illumination, existing methods cannot adaptively extract the differentiated luminance information, which will easily cause over-exposure and under-exposure. From the perspective of unsupervised learning, we propose a multi-scale attention Transformer named MSATr, which sufficiently extracts local and global features for light balance to improve the visual quality. Specifically, we present a multi-scale window division scheme, which uses exponential sequences to adjust the window size of each layer. Within different-sized windows, the self-attention computation can be refined, ensuring the pixel-level feature processing capability of the model. For feature interaction across windows, a global transformer branch is constructed to provide comprehensive brightness perception and alleviate exposure problems. Furthermore, we propose a loop training strategy, using the diverse images generated by weighted mixing and a luminance consistency loss to improve the model's generalization ability effectively. Extensive experiments on several benchmark datasets quantitatively and qualitatively prove that our MSATr is superior to state-of-the-art low-light image enhancement methods, and the enhanced images have more natural brightness and outstanding details. The code is released at https://github.com/fang001021/MSATr.

Robust Cost-Sensitive Learning for Recommendation with Implicit Feedback

Peng Yang, Peilin Zhao, Xin Gao et al.

Recommendation is the task of improving customer experience through personalized recommendation based on users' past feedback. In this paper, we investigate the most common scenario: the user-item (U-I) matrix of implicit feedback. Even though many recommendation approaches are designed based on implicit feedback, they attempt to project the U-I matrix into a low-rank latent space, which is a strict restriction that rarely holds in practice. In addition, although misclassification costs from imbalanced classes are significantly different, few methods take the cost of classification error into account. To address aforementioned issues, we propose a robust framework by decomposing the U-I matrix into two components: (1) a low-rank matrix that captures the common preference, and (2) a sparse matrix that detects the user-specific preference of individuals. A cost-sensitive learning model is embedded into the framework. Specifically, this model exploits different costs in the loss function for the observed and unobserved instances. We show that the resulting non-smooth convex objective can be optimized efficiently by an accelerated projected gradient method with closed-form solutions. Morever, the proposed algorithm can be scaled up to large-sized datasets after a relaxation. The theoretical result shows that even with a small fraction of 1's in the U-I matrix $M\in\mathbb{R}^{n\times m}$, the cost-sensitive error of the proposed model is upper bounded by $O(\fracα{\sqrt{mn}})$, where $α$ is a bias over imbalanced classes. Finally, empirical experiments are extensively carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. Encouraging experimental results show that our algorithm outperforms several state-of-the-art algorithms on benchmark recommendation datasets.

A Tag Identification Approach Based On Fragile Watermark

Jianbiao Lin, Ke Ji, Hui Lin et al.

This paper proposes a tag identify approach based on fragile Watermark that based on Least significant bit of the replacement that we first use a special way to initialize the cover to ensure that we can use random positions to embed the information of tag. Using this way enhance the security of other to get the right information of this tag. Finally as long as the covered information can be decoded, the completeness and accuracy of the tag information can be guaranteed. the result of simulation experiment show that this approach has high sensitivity and security .
