Multi-interactive Feature Learning and a Full-time Multi-modality Benchmark for Image Fusion and SegmentationJinyuan Liu, Zhu Liu, Guanyao Wu et al.
Multi-modality image fusion and segmentation play a vital role in autonomous driving and robotic operation. Early efforts focus on boosting the performance for only one task, \emph{e.g.,} fusion or segmentation, making it hard to reach~`Best of Both Worlds'. To overcome this issue, in this paper, we propose a \textbf{M}ulti-\textbf{i}nteractive \textbf{F}eature learning architecture for image fusion and \textbf{Seg}mentation, namely SegMiF, and exploit dual-task correlation to promote the performance of both tasks. The SegMiF is of a cascade structure, containing a fusion sub-network and a commonly used segmentation sub-network. By slickly bridging intermediate features between two components, the knowledge learned from the segmentation task can effectively assist the fusion task. Also, the benefited fusion network supports the segmentation one to perform more pretentiously. Besides, a hierarchical interactive attention block is established to ensure fine-grained mapping of all the vital information between two tasks, so that the modality/semantic features can be fully mutual-interactive. In addition, a dynamic weight factor is introduced to automatically adjust the corresponding weights of each task, which can balance the interactive feature correspondence and break through the limitation of laborious tuning. Furthermore, we construct a smart multi-wave binocular imaging system and collect a full-time multi-modality benchmark with 15 annotated pixel-level categories for image fusion and segmentation. Extensive experiments on several public datasets and our benchmark demonstrate that the proposed method outputs visually appealing fused images and perform averagely $7.66\%$ higher segmentation mIoU in the real-world scene than the state-of-the-art approaches. Can Deep Research Agents Retrieve and Organize? Evaluating the Synthesis Gap with Expert TaxonomiesMing Zhang, Jiabao Zhuang, Wenqing Jing et al.
Deep Research Agents increasingly automate survey generation, yet whether they match human experts at retrieving essential papers and organizing them into expert-like taxonomies remains unclear. Existing benchmarks emphasize writing quality or citation correctness, while standard clustering metrics ignore hierarchical structure. We introduce TaxoBench, a benchmark of 72 highly-cited LLM surveys with expert-authored taxonomy trees and 3,815 papers mapped to paper categories. TaxoBench evaluates (1) retrieval via Recall/Precision/F1, and (2) organization at a leaf level (paper-to-category assignment) and a hierarchy level via novel metrics, namely Unordered Semantic Tree Edit Distance US-TED/US-NTED and Semantic Path Similarity Sem-Path. Two modes are supported: Deep Research (topic-only, end-to-end) and Bottom-Up (expert paper set provided, organization-only). To distinguish disagreement with a single expert reference from genuine model failure, we explicitly partition findings into capability-based (reference-free) and alignment-based (reference-dependent). Evaluating 7 Deep Research Agents and 12 frontier LLMs reveals a dual bottleneck: capability-side, the best agent retrieves only 20.92% of expert-cited papers, and 1,000 model taxonomies show 75.9% sibling overlap, 51.2% MECE violations, and 83.4% structural imbalance, all detectable without any reference; alignment-side, all 12 LLMs converge to Sem-Path 28--29%, well below 47--58% achieved by three independent human-annotator groups on the same paper sets. Bilevel Fast Scene Adaptation for Low-Light Image EnhancementLong Ma, Dian Jin, Nan An et al.
Enhancing images in low-light scenes is a challenging but widely concerned task in the computer vision. The mainstream learning-based methods mainly acquire the enhanced model by learning the data distribution from the specific scenes, causing poor adaptability (even failure) when meeting real-world scenarios that have never been encountered before. The main obstacle lies in the modeling conundrum from distribution discrepancy across different scenes. To remedy this, we first explore relationships between diverse low-light scenes based on statistical analysis, i.e., the network parameters of the encoder trained in different data distributions are close. We introduce the bilevel paradigm to model the above latent correspondence from the perspective of hyperparameter optimization. A bilevel learning framework is constructed to endow the scene-irrelevant generality of the encoder towards diverse scenes (i.e., freezing the encoder in the adaptation and testing phases). Further, we define a reinforced bilevel learning framework to provide a meta-initialization for scene-specific decoder to further ameliorate visual quality. Moreover, to improve the practicability, we establish a Retinex-induced architecture with adaptive denoising and apply our built learning framework to acquire its parameters by using two training losses including supervised and unsupervised forms. Extensive experimental evaluations on multiple datasets verify our adaptability and competitive performance against existing state-of-the-art works. PAIF: Perception-Aware Infrared-Visible Image Fusion for Attack-Tolerant Semantic SegmentationZhu Liu, Jinyuan Liu, Benzhuang Zhang et al.
Infrared and visible image fusion is a powerful technique that combines complementary information from different modalities for downstream semantic perception tasks. Existing learning-based methods show remarkable performance, but are suffering from the inherent vulnerability of adversarial attacks, causing a significant decrease in accuracy. In this work, a perception-aware fusion framework is proposed to promote segmentation robustness in adversarial scenes. We first conduct systematic analyses about the components of image fusion, investigating the correlation with segmentation robustness under adversarial perturbations. Based on these analyses, we propose a harmonized architecture search with a decomposition-based structure to balance standard accuracy and robustness. We also propose an adaptive learning strategy to improve the parameter robustness of image fusion, which can learn effective feature extraction under diverse adversarial perturbations. Thus, the goals of image fusion (\textit{i.e.,} extracting complementary features from source modalities and defending attack) can be realized from the perspectives of architectural and learning strategies. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our scheme substantially enhances the robustness, with gains of 15.3% mIOU of segmentation in the adversarial scene, compared with advanced competitors. Semantic-aware Texture-Structure Feature Collaboration for Underwater Image EnhancementDi Wang, Long Ma, Risheng Liu et al.
Underwater image enhancement has become an attractive topic as a significant technology in marine engineering and aquatic robotics. However, the limited number of datasets and imperfect hand-crafted ground truth weaken its robustness to unseen scenarios, and hamper the application to high-level vision tasks. To address the above limitations, we develop an efficient and compact enhancement network in collaboration with a high-level semantic-aware pretrained model, aiming to exploit its hierarchical feature representation as an auxiliary for the low-level underwater image enhancement. Specifically, we tend to characterize the shallow layer features as textures while the deep layer features as structures in the semantic-aware model, and propose a multi-path Contextual Feature Refinement Module (CFRM) to refine features in multiple scales and model the correlation between different features. In addition, a feature dominative network is devised to perform channel-wise modulation on the aggregated texture and structure features for the adaptation to different feature patterns of the enhancement network. Extensive experiments on benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves more appealing results and outperforms state-of-the-art methods by large margins. We also apply the proposed algorithm to the underwater salient object detection task to reveal the favorable semantic-aware ability for high-level vision tasks. The code is available at STSC.

VITA: Towards Open-Source Interactive Omni Multimodal LLMChaoyou Fu, Haojia Lin, Zuwei Long et al.
The remarkable multimodal capabilities and interactive experience of GPT-4o underscore their necessity in practical applications, yet open-source models rarely excel in both areas. In this paper, we introduce VITA, the first-ever open-source Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) adept at simultaneous processing and analysis of Video, Image, Text, and Audio modalities, and meanwhile has an advanced multimodal interactive experience. Starting from Mixtral 8x7B as a language foundation, we expand its Chinese vocabulary followed by bilingual instruction tuning. We further endow the language model with visual and audio capabilities through two-stage multi-task learning of multimodal alignment and instruction tuning. VITA demonstrates robust foundational capabilities of multilingual, vision, and audio understanding, as evidenced by its strong performance across a range of both unimodal and multimodal benchmarks. Beyond foundational capabilities, we have made considerable progress in enhancing the natural multimodal human-computer interaction experience. VITA is the first step for the open-source community to explore the seamless integration of multimodal understanding and interaction. While there is still lots of work to be done on VITA to get close to close-source counterparts, we hope that its role as a pioneer can serve as a cornerstone for subsequent research. Practical Exposure Correction: Great Truths Are Always SimpleLong Ma, Tianjiao Ma, Xinwei Xue et al.
Improving the visual quality of the given degraded observation by correcting exposure level is a fundamental task in the computer vision community. Existing works commonly lack adaptability towards unknown scenes because of the data-driven patterns (deep networks) and limited regularization (traditional optimization), and they usually need time-consuming inference. These two points heavily limit their practicability. In this paper, we establish a Practical Exposure Corrector (PEC) that assembles the characteristics of efficiency and performance. To be concrete, we rethink the exposure correction to provide a linear solution with exposure-sensitive compensation. Around generating the compensation, we introduce an exposure adversarial function as the key engine to fully extract valuable information from the observation. By applying the defined function, we construct a segmented shrinkage iterative scheme to generate the desired compensation. Its shrinkage nature supplies powerful support for algorithmic stability and robustness. Extensive experimental evaluations fully reveal the superiority of our proposed PEC. Kimi K2.5: Visual Agentic IntelligenceKimi Team, Tongtong Bai, Yifan Bai et al.
We introduce Kimi K2.5, an open-source multimodal agentic model designed to advance general agentic intelligence. K2.5 emphasizes the joint optimization of text and vision so that two modalities enhance each other. This includes a series of techniques such as joint text-vision pre-training, zero-vision SFT, and joint text-vision reinforcement learning. Building on this multimodal foundation, K2.5 introduces Agent Swarm, a self-directed parallel agent orchestration framework that dynamically decomposes complex tasks into heterogeneous sub-problems and executes them concurrently. Extensive evaluations show that Kimi K2.5 achieves state-of-the-art results across various domains including coding, vision, reasoning, and agentic tasks. Agent Swarm also reduces latency by up to $4.5\times$ over single-agent baselines. We release the post-trained Kimi K2.5 model checkpoint to facilitate future research and real-world applications of agentic intelligence.

Bilevel Generative Learning for Low-Light VisionYingchi Liu, Zhu Liu, Long Ma et al.
Recently, there has been a growing interest in constructing deep learning schemes for Low-Light Vision (LLV). Existing techniques primarily focus on designing task-specific and data-dependent vision models on the standard RGB domain, which inherently contain latent data associations. In this study, we propose a generic low-light vision solution by introducing a generative block to convert data from the RAW to the RGB domain. This novel approach connects diverse vision problems by explicitly depicting data generation, which is the first in the field. To precisely characterize the latent correspondence between the generative procedure and the vision task, we establish a bilevel model with the parameters of the generative block defined as the upper level and the parameters of the vision task defined as the lower level. We further develop two types of learning strategies targeting different goals, namely low cost and high accuracy, to acquire a new bilevel generative learning paradigm. The generative blocks embrace a strong generalization ability in other low-light vision tasks through the bilevel optimization on enhancement tasks. Extensive experimental evaluations on three representative low-light vision tasks, namely enhancement, detection, and segmentation, fully demonstrate the superiority of our proposed approach. Improving Misaligned Multi-modality Image Fusion with One-stage Progressive Dense RegistrationDi Wang, Jinyuan Liu, Long Ma et al.
Misalignments between multi-modality images pose challenges in image fusion, manifesting as structural distortions and edge ghosts. Existing efforts commonly resort to registering first and fusing later, typically employing two cascaded stages for registration,i.e., coarse registration and fine registration. Both stages directly estimate the respective target deformation fields. In this paper, we argue that the separated two-stage registration is not compact, and the direct estimation of the target deformation fields is not accurate enough. To address these challenges, we propose a Cross-modality Multi-scale Progressive Dense Registration (C-MPDR) scheme, which accomplishes the coarse-to-fine registration exclusively using a one-stage optimization, thus improving the fusion performance of misaligned multi-modality images. Specifically, two pivotal components are involved, a dense Deformation Field Fusion (DFF) module and a Progressive Feature Fine (PFF) module. The DFF aggregates the predicted multi-scale deformation sub-fields at the current scale, while the PFF progressively refines the remaining misaligned features. Both work together to accurately estimate the final deformation fields. In addition, we develop a Transformer-Conv-based Fusion (TCF) subnetwork that considers local and long-range feature dependencies, allowing us to capture more informative features from the registered infrared and visible images for the generation of high-quality fused images. Extensive experimental analysis demonstrates the superiority of the proposed method in the fusion of misaligned cross-modality images.

Trash to Treasure: Low-Light Object Detection via Decomposition-and-AggregationXiaohan Cui, Long Ma, Tengyu Ma et al.
Object detection in low-light scenarios has attracted much attention in the past few years. A mainstream and representative scheme introduces enhancers as the pre-processing for regular detectors. However, because of the disparity in task objectives between the enhancer and detector, this paradigm cannot shine at its best ability. In this work, we try to arouse the potential of enhancer + detector. Different from existing works, we extend the illumination-based enhancers (our newly designed or existing) as a scene decomposition module, whose removed illumination is exploited as the auxiliary in the detector for extracting detection-friendly features. A semantic aggregation module is further established for integrating multi-scale scene-related semantic information in the context space. Actually, our built scheme successfully transforms the "trash" (i.e., the ignored illumination in the detector) into the "treasure" for the detector. Plenty of experiments are conducted to reveal our superiority against other state-of-the-art methods. The code will be public if it is accepted.

Bridging Human Evaluation to Infrared and Visible Image FusionJinyuan Liu, Xingyuan Li, Qingyun Mei et al.
Infrared and visible image fusion (IVIF) integrates complementary modalities to enhance scene perception. Current methods predominantly focus on optimizing handcrafted losses and objective metrics, often resulting in fusion outcomes that do not align with human visual preferences. This challenge is further exacerbated by the ill-posed nature of IVIF, which severely limits its effectiveness in human perceptual environments such as security surveillance and driver assistance systems. To address these limitations, we propose a feedback reinforcement framework that bridges human evaluation to infrared and visible image fusion. To address the lack of human-centric evaluation metrics and data, we introduce the first large-scale human feedback dataset for IVIF, containing multidimensional subjective scores and artifact annotations, and enriched by a fine-tuned large language model with expert review. Based on this dataset, we design a domain-specific reward function and train a reward model to quantify perceptual quality. Guided by this reward, we fine-tune the fusion network through Group Relative Policy Optimization, achieving state-of-the-art performance that better aligns fused images with human aesthetics. Leveraging Acoustic Contextual Representation by Audio-textual Cross-modal Learning for Conversational ASRKun Wei, Yike Zhang, Sining Sun et al.
Leveraging context information is an intuitive idea to improve performance on conversational automatic speech recognition(ASR). Previous works usually adopt recognized hypotheses of historical utterances as preceding context, which may bias the current recognized hypothesis due to the inevitable historicalrecognition errors. To avoid this problem, we propose an audio-textual cross-modal representation extractor to learn contextual representations directly from preceding speech. Specifically, it consists of two modal-related encoders, extracting high-level latent features from speech and the corresponding text, and a cross-modal encoder, which aims to learn the correlation between speech and text. We randomly mask some input tokens and input sequences of each modality. Then a token-missing or modal-missing prediction with a modal-level CTC loss on the cross-modal encoder is performed. Thus, the model captures not only the bi-directional context dependencies in a specific modality but also relationships between different modalities. Then, during the training of the conversational ASR system, the extractor will be frozen to extract the textual representation of preceding speech, while such representation is used as context fed to the ASR decoder through attention mechanism. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated on several Mandarin conversation corpora and the highest character error rate (CER) reduction up to 16% is achieved on the MagicData dataset.

Two Stage Contextual Word Filtering for Context bias in Unified Streaming and Non-streaming TransducerZhanheng Yang, Sining Sun, Xiong Wang et al.
It is difficult for an E2E ASR system to recognize words such as entities appearing infrequently in the training data. A widely used method to mitigate this issue is feeding contextual information into the acoustic model. Previous works have proven that a compact and accurate contextual list can boost the performance significantly. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach to obtain a high quality contextual list for a unified streaming/non-streaming based E2E model. Specifically, we make use of the phone-level streaming output to first filter the predefined contextual word list then fuse it into non-casual encoder and decoder to generate the final recognition results. Our approach improve the accuracy of the contextual ASR system and speed up the inference process. Experiments on two datasets demonstrates over 20% CER reduction comparing to the baseline system. Meanwhile, the RTF of our system can be stabilized within 0.15 when the size of the contextual word list grows over 6,000.

Robust and Generalizable Safety Steering for Text-to-Image Diffusion TransformersZihao Xue, Yan Wang, Zhen Bi et al.
Diffusion Transformers have become a powerful backbone for text-to-image generation, but their layered and cross-modal generation process makes safety control fundamentally different from prompt-level filtering or output-level detection. Harmful semantics may be weakly expressed in text representations, progressively bound to visual latents, and finally entangled with rendering dynamics. As a result, safety steering at a fixed layer can be unstable, and a steering mechanism learned from known risks may not transfer reliably to a shifted target risk domain. We propose SafeDIG, a safety steering framework that formulates DiT safety adaptation as position-aware sparse feature transfer. SafeDIG first constructs Sparse Autoencoders over functionally distinct DiT intervention positions and uses robustness-aware pre-training routing to prioritize intervention sites that are expected to remain stable under source-target risk shift. It then separates transferable safety features from domain-specific activation geometry by freezing the SAE encoder as a reusable sparse safety dictionary and adapting only the decoder to the target-domain activation manifold. During inference, SafeDIG combines Blend and Repel operations to steer unsafe activations toward transferred safety manifolds or away from harmful sparse directions. Experiments on FLUX.1 Dev and Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large show that SafeDIG consistently reduces target-domain and overall unsafe generation rates while preserving source-domain safety and image quality.

Learning with Semantic Priors: Stabilizing Point-Supervised Infrared Small Target Detection via Hierarchical Knowledge DistillationYuanhang Yao, Ping Qian, Zhu Liu et al.
Single-frame Infrared Small Target Detection (ISTD) aims to localize weak targets under heavy background clutter, yet dense pixel-wise annotations are expensive. Point supervision with online label evolution reduces annotation cost; however, lightweight CNN detectors often lack sufficient semantics, leading to noisy pseudo-masks and unstable optimization. To address this, we propose a hierarchical VFM-driven knowledge distillation framework that uses a frozen Vision Foundation Model (VFM) during training. We formulate point-supervised learning as a bilevel optimization process: the inner loop adapts a VFM-embedded teacher on reweighted training samples, while the outer loop transfers validation-guided knowledge to a lightweight student to mitigate pseudo-label noise and training-set bias. We further introduce Semantic-Conditioned Affine Modulation (SCAM) to inject VFM semantics into CNN features at multiple layers. In addition, a dynamic collaborative learning strategy with cluster-level sample reweighting enhances robustness to imperfect pseudo-masks. Experiments on diverse challenging cases across multiple ISTD backbones demonstrate consistent improvements in detection accuracy and training stability. Route Experts by Sequence, not by TokenTiansheng Wen, Yifei Wang, Aosong Feng et al.
Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architectures scale large language models (LLMs) by activating only a subset of experts per token, but the standard TopK routing assigns the same fixed number of experts to all tokens, ignoring their varying complexity. Prior adaptive routing methods introduce additional modules and hyperparameters, often requiring costly retraining from scratch. We propose Sequence-level TopK (SeqTopK), a minimal modification that shifts the expert budget from the token level to the sequence level. By selecting the top $T \cdot K$ experts across all $T$ tokens, SeqTopK enables end-to-end learned dynamic allocation -- assigning more experts to difficult tokens and fewer to easy ones -- while preserving the same overall budget. SeqTopK requires only a few lines of code, adds less than 1% overhead, and remains fully compatible with pretrained MoE models. Experiments across math, coding, law, and writing show consistent improvements over TopK and prior parameter-free adaptive methods, with gains that become substantially larger under higher sparsity (up to 16.9%). These results highlight SeqTopK as a simple, efficient, and scalable routing strategy, particularly well-suited for the extreme sparsity regimes of next-generation LLMs. Code is available at https://github.com/Y-Research-SBU/SeqTopK.

Bilevel Layer-Positioning LoRA for Real Image DehazingYan Zhang, Long Ma, Yuxin Feng et al.
Learning-based real image dehazing methods have achieved notable progress, yet they still face adaptation challenges in diverse real haze scenes. These challenges mainly stem from the lack of effective unsupervised mechanisms for unlabeled data and the heavy cost of full model fine-tuning. To address these challenges, we propose the haze-to-clear text-directed loss that leverages CLIP's cross-modal capabilities to reformulate real image dehazing as a semantic alignment problem in latent space, thereby providing explicit unsupervised cross-modal guidance in the absence of reference images. Furthermore, we introduce the Bilevel Layer-positioning LoRA (BiLaLoRA) strategy, which learns both the LoRA parameters and automatically search the injection layers, enabling targeted adaptation of critical network layers. Extensive experiments demonstrate our superiority against state-of-the-art methods on multiple real-world dehazing benchmarks. Steering LLMs via Scalable Interactive OversightEnyu Zhou, Zhiheng Xi, Long Ma et al.
As Large Language Models increasingly automate complex, long-horizon tasks such as \emph{vibe coding}, a supervision gap has emerged. While models excel at execution, users often struggle to guide them effectively due to insufficient domain expertise, the difficulty of articulating precise intent, and the inability to reliably validate complex outputs. It presents a critical challenge in scalable oversight: enabling humans to responsibly steer AI systems on tasks that surpass their own ability to specify or verify. To tackle this, we propose Scalable Interactive Oversight, a framework that decomposes complex intent into a recursive tree of manageable decisions to amplify human supervision. Rather than relying on open-ended prompting, our system elicits low-burden feedback at each node and recursively aggregates these signals into precise global guidance. Validated in web development task, our framework enables non-experts to produce expert-level Product Requirement Documents, achieving a 54\% improvement in alignment. Crucially, we demonstrate that this framework can be optimized via Reinforcement Learning using only online user feedback, offering a practical pathway for maintaining human control as AI scales.

VITA-1.5: Towards GPT-4o Level Real-Time Vision and Speech InteractionChaoyou Fu, Haojia Lin, Xiong Wang et al.
Recent Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have typically focused on integrating visual and textual modalities, with less emphasis placed on the role of speech in enhancing interaction. However, speech plays a crucial role in multimodal dialogue systems, and implementing high-performance in both vision and speech tasks remains a significant challenge due to the fundamental modality differences. In this paper, we propose a carefully designed multi-stage training methodology that progressively trains LLM to understand both visual and speech information, ultimately enabling fluent vision and speech interaction. Our approach not only preserves strong vision-language capacity, but also enables efficient speech-to-speech dialogue capabilities without separate ASR and TTS modules, significantly accelerating multimodal end-to-end response speed. By comparing our method against state-of-the-art counterparts across benchmarks for image, video, and speech tasks, we demonstrate that our model is equipped with both strong visual and speech capabilities, making near real-time vision and speech interaction. Infrared and Visible Image Fusion: From Data Compatibility to Task AdaptionJinyuan Liu, Guanyao Wu, Zhu Liu et al.
Infrared-visible image fusion (IVIF) is a critical task in computer vision, aimed at integrating the unique features of both infrared and visible spectra into a unified representation. Since 2018, the field has entered the deep learning era, with an increasing variety of approaches introducing a range of networks and loss functions to enhance visual performance. However, challenges such as data compatibility, perception accuracy, and efficiency remain. Unfortunately, there is a lack of recent comprehensive surveys that address this rapidly expanding domain. This paper fills that gap by providing a thorough survey covering a broad range of topics. We introduce a multi-dimensional framework to elucidate common learning-based IVIF methods, from visual enhancement strategies to data compatibility and task adaptability. We also present a detailed analysis of these approaches, accompanied by a lookup table clarifying their core ideas. Furthermore, we summarize performance comparisons, both quantitatively and qualitatively, focusing on registration, fusion, and subsequent high-level tasks. Your One-Stop Solution for AI-Generated Video DetectionLong Ma, Zihao Xue, Yan Wang et al.
Recent advances in generative modeling can create remarkably realistic synthetic videos, making it increasingly difficult for humans to distinguish them from real ones and necessitating reliable detection methods. However, two key limitations hinder the development of this field. \textbf{From the dataset perspective}, existing datasets are often limited in scale and constructed using outdated or narrowly scoped generative models, making it difficult to capture the diversity and rapid evolution of modern generative techniques. Moreover, the dataset construction process frequently prioritizes quantity over quality, neglecting essential aspects such as semantic diversity, scenario coverage, and technological representativeness. \textbf{From the benchmark perspective}, current benchmarks largely remain at the stage of dataset creation, leaving many fundamental issues and in-depth analysis yet to be systematically explored. Addressing this gap, we propose AIGVDBench, a benchmark designed to be comprehensive and representative, covering \textbf{31} state-of-the-art generation models and over \textbf{440,000} videos. By executing more than \textbf{1,500} evaluations on \textbf{33} existing detectors belonging to four distinct categories. This work presents \textbf{8 in-depth analyses} from multiple perspectives and identifies \textbf{4 novel findings} that offer valuable insights for future research. DCEvo: Discriminative Cross-Dimensional Evolutionary Learning for Infrared and Visible Image FusionJinyuan Liu, Bowei Zhang, Qingyun Mei et al.
Infrared and visible image fusion integrates information from distinct spectral bands to enhance image quality by leveraging the strengths and mitigating the limitations of each modality. Existing approaches typically treat image fusion and subsequent high-level tasks as separate processes, resulting in fused images that offer only marginal gains in task performance and fail to provide constructive feedback for optimizing the fusion process. To overcome these limitations, we propose a Discriminative Cross-Dimension Evolutionary Learning Framework, termed DCEvo, which simultaneously enhances visual quality and perception accuracy. Leveraging the robust search capabilities of Evolutionary Learning, our approach formulates the optimization of dual tasks as a multi-objective problem by employing an Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) to dynamically balance loss function parameters. Inspired by visual neuroscience, we integrate a Discriminative Enhancer (DE) within both the encoder and decoder, enabling the effective learning of complementary features from different modalities. Additionally, our Cross-Dimensional Embedding (CDE) block facilitates mutual enhancement between high-dimensional task features and low-dimensional fusion features, ensuring a cohesive and efficient feature integration process. Experimental results on three benchmarks demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, achieving an average improvement of 9.32% in visual quality while also enhancing subsequent high-level tasks. 3D-GOI: 3D GAN Omni-Inversion for Multifaceted and Multi-object EditingHaoran Li, Long Ma, Haolin Shi et al.
The current GAN inversion methods typically can only edit the appearance and shape of a single object and background while overlooking spatial information. In this work, we propose a 3D editing framework, 3D-GOI, to enable multifaceted editing of affine information (scale, translation, and rotation) on multiple objects. 3D-GOI realizes the complex editing function by inverting the abundance of attribute codes (object shape/appearance/scale/rotation/translation, background shape/appearance, and camera pose) controlled by GIRAFFE, a renowned 3D GAN. Accurately inverting all the codes is challenging, 3D-GOI solves this challenge following three main steps. First, we segment the objects and the background in a multi-object image. Second, we use a custom Neural Inversion Encoder to obtain coarse codes of each object. Finally, we use a round-robin optimization algorithm to get precise codes to reconstruct the image. To the best of our knowledge, 3D-GOI is the first framework to enable multifaceted editing on multiple objects. Both qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate that 3D-GOI holds immense potential for flexible, multifaceted editing in complex multi-object scenes.Our project and code are released at https://3d-goi.github.io .

HUPE: Heuristic Underwater Perceptual Enhancement with Semantic Collaborative LearningZengxi Zhang, Zhiying Jiang, Long Ma et al.
Underwater images are often affected by light refraction and absorption, reducing visibility and interfering with subsequent applications. Existing underwater image enhancement methods primarily focus on improving visual quality while overlooking practical implications. To strike a balance between visual quality and application, we propose a heuristic invertible network for underwater perception enhancement, dubbed HUPE, which enhances visual quality and demonstrates flexibility in handling other downstream tasks. Specifically, we introduced an information-preserving reversible transformation with embedded Fourier transform to establish a bidirectional mapping between underwater images and their clear images. Additionally, a heuristic prior is incorporated into the enhancement process to better capture scene information. To further bridge the feature gap between vision-based enhancement images and application-oriented images, a semantic collaborative learning module is applied in the joint optimization process of the visual enhancement task and the downstream task, which guides the proposed enhancement model to extract more task-oriented semantic features while obtaining visually pleasing images. Controllable Spoken Dialogue Generation: An LLM-Driven Grading System for K-12 Non-Native English LearnersHaidong Yuan, Haokun Zhao, Wanshi Xu et al.
Large language models (LLMs) often fail to meet the pedagogical needs of K-12 English learners in non-native contexts due to a proficiency mismatch. To address this widespread challenge, we introduce a proficiency-aligned framework that adapts LLM outputs to learner abilities, using China's national curriculum (CSE) as a representative case. Our framework enables precise control over lexical complexity through a four-tier grading system, supported by a comprehensive suite of new resources: graded vocabulary lists and a multi-turn dialogue corpus. Our core technical contribution is the \textbf{DDPO} algorithm,Diversity Driven Policy Optimization, a multi-turn GRPO-based approach designed to preserve dialogue diversity while holistically optimizing dialogue quality. This method significantly outperforms conventional approaches, achieving low out-of-vocabulary rates and high diversity while enhancing conversational naturalness and pedagogical value. While grounded in the CSE, our framework is designed for flexibility and can be readily adapted to other educational standards. Our models, data, and code will all be open-sourced, providing a scalable platform for personalized English speaking practice that effectively addresses the unique challenges faced by K-12 learners in non-immersive environments.

DifIISR: A Diffusion Model with Gradient Guidance for Infrared Image Super-ResolutionXingyuan Li, Zirui Wang, Yang Zou et al.
Infrared imaging is essential for autonomous driving and robotic operations as a supportive modality due to its reliable performance in challenging environments. Despite its popularity, the limitations of infrared cameras, such as low spatial resolution and complex degradations, consistently challenge imaging quality and subsequent visual tasks. Hence, infrared image super-resolution (IISR) has been developed to address this challenge. While recent developments in diffusion models have greatly advanced this field, current methods to solve it either ignore the unique modal characteristics of infrared imaging or overlook the machine perception requirements. To bridge these gaps, we propose DifIISR, an infrared image super-resolution diffusion model optimized for visual quality and perceptual performance. Our approach achieves task-based guidance for diffusion by injecting gradients derived from visual and perceptual priors into the noise during the reverse process. Specifically, we introduce an infrared thermal spectrum distribution regulation to preserve visual fidelity, ensuring that the reconstructed infrared images closely align with high-resolution images by matching their frequency components. Subsequently, we incorporate various visual foundational models as the perceptual guidance for downstream visual tasks, infusing generalizable perceptual features beneficial for detection and segmentation. Adjacent Slice Feature Guided 2.5D Network for Pulmonary Nodule SegmentationXinwei Xue, Gaoyu Wang, Long Ma et al.
More and more attention has been paid to the segmentation of pulmonary nodules. Among the current methods based on deep learning, 3D segmentation methods directly input 3D images, which takes up a lot of memory and brings huge computation. However, most of the 2D segmentation methods with less parameters and calculation have the problem of lacking spatial relations between slices, resulting in poor segmentation performance. In order to solve these problems, we propose an adjacent slice feature guided 2.5D network. In this paper, we design an adjacent slice feature fusion model to introduce information from adjacent slices. To further improve the model performance, we construct a multi-scale fusion module to capture more context information, in addition, we design an edge-constrained loss function to optimize the segmentation results in the edge region. Fully experiments show that our method performs better than other existing methods in pulmonary nodule segmentation task.

CoA: Towards Real Image Dehazing via Compression-and-AdaptationLong Ma, Yuxin Feng, Yan Zhang et al.
Learning-based image dehazing algorithms have shown remarkable success in synthetic domains. However, real image dehazing is still in suspense due to computational resource constraints and the diversity of real-world scenes. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an algorithm that excels in both efficiency and adaptability to address real image dehazing effectively. This work proposes a Compression-and-Adaptation (CoA) computational flow to tackle these challenges from a divide-and-conquer perspective. First, model compression is performed in the synthetic domain to develop a compact dehazing parameter space, satisfying efficiency demands. Then, a bilevel adaptation in the real domain is introduced to be fearless in unknown real environments by aggregating the synthetic dehazing capabilities during the learning process. Leveraging a succinct design free from additional constraints, our CoA exhibits domain-irrelevant stability and model-agnostic flexibility, effectively bridging the model chasm between synthetic and real domains to further improve its practical utility. DEAL: Data-Efficient Adversarial Learning for High-Quality Infrared ImagingZhu Liu, Zijun Wang, Jinyuan Liu et al.
Thermal imaging is often compromised by dynamic, complex degradations caused by hardware limitations and unpredictable environmental factors. The scarcity of high-quality infrared data, coupled with the challenges of dynamic, intricate degradations, makes it difficult to recover details using existing methods. In this paper, we introduce thermal degradation simulation integrated into the training process via a mini-max optimization, by modeling these degraded factors as adversarial attacks on thermal images. The simulation is dynamic to maximize objective functions, thus capturing a broad spectrum of degraded data distributions. This approach enables training with limited data, thereby improving model performance.Additionally, we introduce a dual-interaction network that combines the benefits of spiking neural networks with scale transformation to capture degraded features with sharp spike signal intensities. This architecture ensures compact model parameters while preserving efficient feature representation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method not only achieves superior visual quality under diverse single and composited degradation, but also delivers a significant reduction in processing when trained on only fifty clear images, outperforming existing techniques in efficiency and accuracy. Detecting AI-Generated Video via Frame ConsistencyLong Ma, Zhiyuan Yan, Qinglang Guo et al.
The escalating quality of video generated by advanced video generation methods results in new security challenges, while there have been few relevant research efforts: 1) There is no open-source dataset for generated video detection, 2) No generated video detection method has been proposed so far. To this end, we propose an open-source dataset and a detection method for generated video for the first time. First, we propose a scalable dataset consisting of 964 prompts, covering various forgery targets, scenes, behaviors, and actions, as well as various generation models with different architectures and generation methods, including the most popular commercial models like OpenAI's Sora and Google's Veo. Second, we found via probing experiments that spatial artifact-based detectors lack generalizability. Hence, we propose a simple yet effective \textbf{de}tection model based on \textbf{f}rame \textbf{co}nsistency (\textbf{DeCoF}), which focuses on temporal artifacts by eliminating the impact of spatial artifacts during feature learning. Extensive experiments demonstrate the efficacy of DeCoF in detecting videos generated by unseen video generation models and confirm its powerful generalizability across several commercially proprietary models.

Thinking with Constructions: A Benchmark and Policy Optimization for Visual-Text Interleaved Geometric ReasoningHaokun Zhao, Wanshi Xu, Haidong Yuan et al.
Geometric reasoning inherently requires "thinking with constructions" -- the dynamic manipulation of visual aids to bridge the gap between problem conditions and solutions. However, existing Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) are largely confined to passive inference with static diagrams, lacking the strategic knowledge of when and how to construct effective visual aids. To address this, we present a framework for Visual-Text Interleaved Chain-of-Thought. We first introduce GeoAux-Bench, the first benchmark comprising 4,334 geometry problems that aligns textual construction steps with ground-truth visual updates. Our pilot study reveals two critical insights: (1) interleaved visual-textual aids outperform single-modality counterparts, which cannot losslessly capture geometric synergy; and (2) valid constructions act as entropy reducers, strongly correlating with reduced reasoning perplexity. Building on these findings, we propose Action Applicability Policy Optimization (A2PO), a reinforcement learning paradigm for mastering strategic construction. A2PO employs Adaptive Reward Shaping to regulate the timing and quality of visual aids via counterfactual sampling to distinguish necessary from redundant constructions. Experiments demonstrate our approach enables MLLMs to leverage selective auxiliary constructions, yielding a 3.51% gain over strong baselines. Code and data are available on GitHub.

Detect All-Type Deepfake Audio: Wavelet Prompt Tuning for Enhanced Auditory PerceptionYuankun Xie, Ruibo Fu, Zhiyong Wang et al.
The rapid advancement of audio generation technologies has escalated the risks of malicious deepfake audio across speech, sound, singing voice, and music, threatening multimedia security and trust. While existing countermeasures (CMs) perform well in single-type audio deepfake detection (ADD), their performance declines in cross-type scenarios. This paper is dedicated to studying the alltype ADD task. We are the first to comprehensively establish an all-type ADD benchmark to evaluate current CMs, incorporating cross-type deepfake detection across speech, sound, singing voice, and music. Then, we introduce the prompt tuning self-supervised learning (PT-SSL) training paradigm, which optimizes SSL frontend by learning specialized prompt tokens for ADD, requiring 458x fewer trainable parameters than fine-tuning (FT). Considering the auditory perception of different audio types,we propose the wavelet prompt tuning (WPT)-SSL method to capture type-invariant auditory deepfake information from the frequency domain without requiring additional training parameters, thereby enhancing performance over FT in the all-type ADD task. To achieve an universally CM, we utilize all types of deepfake audio for co-training. Experimental results demonstrate that WPT-XLSR-AASIST achieved the best performance, with an average EER of 3.58% across all evaluation sets. The code is available online.

Monge-Ampere Regularization for Learning Arbitrary Shapes from Point CloudsChuanxiang Yang, Yuanfeng Zhou, Guangshun Wei et al.
As commonly used implicit geometry representations, the signed distance function (SDF) is limited to modeling watertight shapes, while the unsigned distance function (UDF) is capable of representing various surfaces. However, its inherent theoretical shortcoming, i.e., the non-differentiability at the zero level set, would result in sub-optimal reconstruction quality. In this paper, we propose the scaled-squared distance function (S$^{2}$DF), a novel implicit surface representation for modeling arbitrary surface types. S$^{2}$DF does not distinguish between inside and outside regions while effectively addressing the non-differentiability issue of UDF at the zero level set. We demonstrate that S$^{2}$DF satisfies a second-order partial differential equation of Monge-Ampere-type, allowing us to develop a learning pipeline that leverages a novel Monge-Ampere regularization to directly learn S$^{2}$DF from raw unoriented point clouds without supervision from ground-truth S$^{2}$DF values. Extensive experiments across multiple datasets show that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art supervised approaches that require ground-truth surface information as supervision for training. Contourlet Refinement Gate Framework for Thermal Spectrum Distribution Regularized Infrared Image Super-ResolutionYang Zou, Zhixin Chen, Zhipeng Zhang et al.
Image super-resolution (SR) is a classical yet still active low-level vision problem that aims to reconstruct high-resolution (HR) images from their low-resolution (LR) counterparts, serving as a key technique for image enhancement. Current approaches to address SR tasks, such as transformer-based and diffusion-based methods, are either dedicated to extracting RGB image features or assuming similar degradation patterns, neglecting the inherent modal disparities between infrared and visible images. When directly applied to infrared image SR tasks, these methods inevitably distort the infrared spectral distribution, compromising the machine perception in downstream tasks. In this work, we emphasize the infrared spectral distribution fidelity and propose a Contourlet refinement gate framework to restore infrared modal-specific features while preserving spectral distribution fidelity. Our approach captures high-pass subbands from multi-scale and multi-directional infrared spectral decomposition to recover infrared-degraded information through a gate architecture. The proposed Spectral Fidelity Loss regularizes the spectral frequency distribution during reconstruction, which ensures the preservation of both high- and low-frequency components and maintains the fidelity of infrared-specific features. We propose a two-stage prompt-learning optimization to guide the model in learning infrared HR characteristics from LR degradation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing image SR models in both visual and perceptual tasks while notably enhancing machine perception in downstream tasks. Entropy Polarity in Reinforcement Fine-Tuning: Direction, Asymmetry, and ControlJiazheng Zhang, Ziche Fu, Junrui Shen et al.
Policy entropy has emerged as a fundamental measure for understanding and controlling exploration in reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) for LLMs. However, existing entropy-aware methods mainly regulate entropy through global objectives, while the token-level mechanism by which sampled policy updates reshape policy entropy remains underexplored. In this work, we develop a theoretical framework of entropy mechanics in RLVR. Our analysis yields a first-order approximation of the entropy change, giving rise to entropy polarity, a signed token-level quantity that predicts how much a sampled update expands or contracts entropy. This analysis further reveals a structural asymmetry: reinforcing frequent high-probability tokens triggers contraction tendencies, whereas expansive tendencies typically require lower-probability samples or stronger distributional correction. Empirically, we show that entropy polarity reliably predicts entropy changes, and that positive and negative polarity branches play complementary roles in preserving exploration while strengthening exploitation. Building on these insights, we propose Polarity-Aware Policy Optimization (PAPO), which preserves both polarity branches and implements entropy control through advantage reweighting. With the empirical entropy trajectory as an online phase signal, PAPO adaptively reallocates optimization pressure between entropy-expanding and entropy-contracting updates. Experiments on mathematical reasoning and agentic benchmarks show that PAPO consistently outperforms competitive baselines, while delivering superior training efficiency and substantial reward improvements.

Enhancing Infrared Vision: Progressive Prompt Fusion Network and BenchmarkJinyuan Liu, Zihang Chen, Zhu Liu et al.
We engage in the relatively underexplored task named thermal infrared image enhancement. Existing infrared image enhancement methods primarily focus on tackling individual degradations, such as noise, contrast, and blurring, making it difficult to handle coupled degradations. Meanwhile, all-in-one enhancement methods, commonly applied to RGB sensors, often demonstrate limited effectiveness due to the significant differences in imaging models. In sight of this, we first revisit the imaging mechanism and introduce a Progressive Prompt Fusion Network (PPFN). Specifically, the PPFN initially establishes prompt pairs based on the thermal imaging process. For each type of degradation, we fuse the corresponding prompt pairs to modulate the model's features, providing adaptive guidance that enables the model to better address specific degradations under single or multiple conditions. In addition, a Selective Progressive Training (SPT) mechanism is introduced to gradually refine the model's handling of composite cases to align the enhancement process, which not only allows the model to remove camera noise and retain key structural details, but also enhancing the overall contrast of the thermal image. Furthermore, we introduce the most high-quality, multi-scenarios infrared benchmark covering a wide range of scenarios. Extensive experiments substantiate that our approach not only delivers promising visual results under specific degradation but also significantly improves performance on complex degradation scenes, achieving a notable 8.76\% improvement. Benchmarking Laparoscopic Surgical Image Restoration and BeyondJialun Pei, Diandian Guo, Donghui Yang et al.
In laparoscopic surgery, a clear and high-quality visual field is critical for surgeons to make accurate intraoperative decisions. However, persistent visual degradation, including smoke generated by energy devices, lens fogging from thermal gradients, and lens contamination due to blood or tissue fluid splashes during surgical procedures, severely impair visual clarity. These degenerations can seriously hinder surgical workflow and pose risks to patient safety. To systematically investigate and address various forms of surgical scene degradation, we introduce a real-world open-source surgical image restoration dataset covering laparoscopic environments, called SurgClean, which involves multi-type image restoration tasks, e.g., desmoking, defogging, and desplashing. SurgClean comprises 1,020 images with diverse degradation types and corresponding paired reference labels. Based on SurgClean, we establish a standardized evaluation benchmark and provide performance for 22 representative generic task-specific image restoration approaches, including 12 generic and 10 task-specific image restoration approaches. Experimental results reveal substantial performance gaps relative to clinical requirements, highlighting a critical opportunity for algorithm advancements in intelligent surgical restoration. Furthermore, we explore the degradation discrepancies between surgical and natural scenes from structural perception and semantic understanding perspectives, providing fundamental insights for domain-specific image restoration research. Our work aims to empower the capabilities of restoration algorithms to increase surgical environments and improve the efficiency of clinical procedures.

Striving for Faster and Better: A One-Layer Architecture with Auto Re-parameterization for Low-Light Image EnhancementNan An, Long Ma, Guangchao Han et al.
Deep learning-based low-light image enhancers have made significant progress in recent years, with a trend towards achieving satisfactory visual quality while gradually reducing the number of parameters and improving computational efficiency. In this work, we aim to delving into the limits of image enhancers both from visual quality and computational efficiency, while striving for both better performance and faster processing. To be concrete, by rethinking the task demands, we build an explicit connection, i.e., visual quality and computational efficiency are corresponding to model learning and structure design, respectively. Around this connection, we enlarge parameter space by introducing the re-parameterization for ample model learning of a pre-defined minimalist network (e.g., just one layer), to avoid falling into a local solution. To strengthen the structural representation, we define a hierarchical search scheme for discovering a task-oriented re-parameterized structure, which also provides powerful support for efficiency. Ultimately, this achieves efficient low-light image enhancement using only a single convolutional layer, while maintaining excellent visual quality. Experimental results show our sensible superiority both in quality and efficiency against recently-proposed methods. Especially, our running time on various platforms (e.g., CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP) consistently moves beyond the existing fastest scheme. Enhancing Infrared Small Target Detection Robustness with Bi-Level Adversarial FrameworkZhu Liu, Zihang Chen, Jinyuan Liu et al.
The detection of small infrared targets against blurred and cluttered backgrounds has remained an enduring challenge. In recent years, learning-based schemes have become the mainstream methodology to establish the mapping directly. However, these methods are susceptible to the inherent complexities of changing backgrounds and real-world disturbances, leading to unreliable and compromised target estimations. In this work, we propose a bi-level adversarial framework to promote the robustness of detection in the presence of distinct corruptions. We first propose a bi-level optimization formulation to introduce dynamic adversarial learning. Specifically, it is composited by the learnable generation of corruptions to maximize the losses as the lower-level objective and the robustness promotion of detectors as the upper-level one. We also provide a hierarchical reinforced learning strategy to discover the most detrimental corruptions and balance the performance between robustness and accuracy. To better disentangle the corruptions from salient features, we also propose a spatial-frequency interaction network for target detection. Extensive experiments demonstrate our scheme remarkably improves 21.96% IOU across a wide array of corruptions and notably promotes 4.97% IOU on the general benchmark. ASF-Net: Robust Video Deraining via Temporal Alignment and Online Adaptive LearningXinwei Xue, Jia He, Long Ma et al.
In recent times, learning-based methods for video deraining have demonstrated commendable results. However, there are two critical challenges that these methods are yet to address: exploiting temporal correlations among adjacent frames and ensuring adaptability to unknown real-world scenarios. To overcome these challenges, we explore video deraining from a paradigm design perspective to learning strategy construction. Specifically, we propose a new computational paradigm, Alignment-Shift-Fusion Network (ASF-Net), which incorporates a temporal shift module. This module is novel to this field and provides deeper exploration of temporal information by facilitating the exchange of channel-level information within the feature space. To fully discharge the model's characterization capability, we further construct a LArge-scale RAiny video dataset (LARA) which also supports the development of this community. On the basis of the newly-constructed dataset, we explore the parameters learning process by developing an innovative re-degraded learning strategy. This strategy bridges the gap between synthetic and real-world scenes, resulting in stronger scene adaptability. Our proposed approach exhibits superior performance in three benchmarks and compelling visual quality in real-world scenarios, underscoring its efficacy. PAI at SemEval-2023 Task 2: A Universal System for Named Entity Recognition with External Entity InformationLong Ma, Kai Lu, Tianbo Che et al.
The MultiCoNER II task aims to detect complex, ambiguous, and fine-grained named entities in low-context situations and noisy scenarios like the presence of spelling mistakes and typos for multiple languages. The task poses significant challenges due to the scarcity of contextual information, the high granularity of the entities(up to 33 classes), and the interference of noisy data. To address these issues, our team {\bf PAI} proposes a universal Named Entity Recognition (NER) system that integrates external entity information to improve performance. Specifically, our system retrieves entities with properties from the knowledge base (i.e. Wikipedia) for a given text, then concatenates entity information with the input sentence and feeds it into Transformer-based models. Finally, our system wins 2 first places, 4 second places, and 1 third place out of 13 tracks. The code is publicly available at \url{https://github.com/diqiuzhuanzhuan/semeval-2023}.

Toward Fast, Flexible, and Robust Low-Light Image EnhancementLong Ma, Tengyu Ma, Risheng Liu et al.
Existing low-light image enhancement techniques are mostly not only difficult to deal with both visual quality and computational efficiency but also commonly invalid in unknown complex scenarios. In this paper, we develop a new Self-Calibrated Illumination (SCI) learning framework for fast, flexible, and robust brightening images in real-world low-light scenarios. To be specific, we establish a cascaded illumination learning process with weight sharing to handle this task. Considering the computational burden of the cascaded pattern, we construct the self-calibrated module which realizes the convergence between results of each stage, producing the gains that only use the single basic block for inference (yet has not been exploited in previous works), which drastically diminishes computation cost. We then define the unsupervised training loss to elevate the model capability that can adapt to general scenes. Further, we make comprehensive explorations to excavate SCI's inherent properties (lacking in existing works) including operation-insensitive adaptability (acquiring stable performance under the settings of different simple operations) and model-irrelevant generality (can be applied to illumination-based existing works to improve performance). Finally, plenty of experiments and ablation studies fully indicate our superiority in both quality and efficiency. Applications on low-light face detection and nighttime semantic segmentation fully reveal the latent practical values for SCI. The source code is available at https://github.com/vis-opt-group/SCI.

Freeze-Omni: A Smart and Low Latency Speech-to-speech Dialogue Model with Frozen LLMXiong Wang, Yangze Li, Chaoyou Fu et al.
Rapidly developing large language models (LLMs) have brought tremendous intelligent applications. Especially, the GPT-4o's excellent duplex speech interaction ability has brought impressive experience to users. Researchers have recently proposed several multi-modal LLMs in this direction that can achieve user-agent speech-to-speech conversations. This paper proposes a novel speech-text multimodal LLM architecture called Freeze-Omni. Our main contribution is that the speech input and output modalities can be easily connected to a textual LLM while keeping the LLM's parameters frozen throughout the training process. We design a three-stage training strategy for modeling both the speech input and output, enabling Freeze-Omni to obtain speech-to-speech conversation ability using text-speech paired data (such as ASR and TTS data) and only 60,000 multi-round text Q&A data on 8 GPUs. Moreover, we can effectively ensure that the intelligence of the Freeze-Omni in the speech modality is at the same level compared with that in the text modality of its backbone LLM, while achieving low latency end-to-end spoken response. In addition, we also designed a method to achieve duplex dialogue ability through multi-task training, giving Freeze-Omni a more natural style of dialogue ability between users and agents. In summary, Freeze-Omni holds great potential to conduct speech-to-speech dialogue based on a multimodal LLM under the condition of a frozen LLM, avoiding the catastrophic forgetting problem caused by limited data and training resources.

Symplectic Geometric Algorithm for Quaternion Kinematical Differential EquationHong-Yan Zhang, Lu-Sha Zhou, Zi-Hao Wang et al.
Solving quaternion kinematical differential equations is one of the most significant problems in the automation, navigation, aerospace and aeronautics literatures. Most existing approaches for this problem neither preserve the norm of quaternions nor avoid errors accumulated in the sense of long term time. We present symplectic geometric algorithms to deal with the quaternion kinematical differential equation by modeling its time-invariant and time-varying versions with Hamiltonian systems by adopting a three-step strategy. Firstly, a generalized Euler's formula for the autonomous quaternion kinematical differential equation are proved and used to construct symplectic single-step transition operators via the centered implicit Euler scheme for autonomous Hamiltonian system. Secondly, the symplecitiy, orthogonality and invertibility of the symplectic transition operators are proved rigorously. Finally, the main results obtained are generalized to design symplectic geometric algorithm for the time-varying quaternion kinematical differential equation which is a non-autonomous and nonlinear Hamiltonian system essentially. Our novel algorithms have simple algorithmic structures and low time complexity of computation, which are easy to be implemented with real-time techniques. The correctness and efficiencies of the proposed algorithms are verified and validated via numerical simulations.

NTIRE 2026 3D Restoration and Reconstruction in Real-world Adverse Conditions: RealX3D Challenge ResultsShuhong Liu, Chenyu Bao, Ziteng Cui et al.
This paper presents a comprehensive review of the NTIRE 2026 3D Restoration and Reconstruction (3DRR) Challenge, detailing the proposed methods and results. The challenge seeks to identify robust reconstruction pipelines that are robust under real-world adverse conditions, specifically extreme low-light and smoke-degraded environments, as captured by our RealX3D benchmark. A total of 279 participants registered for the competition, of whom 33 teams submitted valid results. We thoroughly evaluate the submitted approaches against state-of-the-art baselines, revealing significant progress in 3D reconstruction under adverse conditions. Our analysis highlights shared design principles among top-performing methods and provides insights into effective strategies for handling 3D scene degradation.

Seeing Text in the Dark: Algorithm and BenchmarkChengpei Xu, Hao Fu, Long Ma et al.
Localizing text in low-light environments is challenging due to visual degradations. Although a straightforward solution involves a two-stage pipeline with low-light image enhancement (LLE) as the initial step followed by detector, LLE is primarily designed for human vision instead of machine and can accumulate errors. In this work, we propose an efficient and effective single-stage approach for localizing text in dark that circumvents the need for LLE. We introduce a constrained learning module as an auxiliary mechanism during the training stage of the text detector. This module is designed to guide the text detector in preserving textual spatial features amidst feature map resizing, thus minimizing the loss of spatial information in texts under low-light visual degradations. Specifically, we incorporate spatial reconstruction and spatial semantic constraints within this module to ensure the text detector acquires essential positional and contextual range knowledge. Our approach enhances the original text detector's ability to identify text's local topological features using a dynamic snake feature pyramid network and adopts a bottom-up contour shaping strategy with a novel rectangular accumulation technique for accurate delineation of streamlined text features. In addition, we present a comprehensive low-light dataset for arbitrary-shaped text, encompassing diverse scenes and languages. Notably, our method achieves state-of-the-art results on this low-light dataset and exhibits comparable performance on standard normal light datasets. The code and dataset will be released.

Diffusion Reconstruction towards Generalizable Audio Deepfake DetectionBo Cheng, Songjun Cao, Xiaoming Zhang et al.
Achieving robust generalization against unseen attacks remains a challenge in Audio Deepfake Detection (ADD), driven by the rapid evolution of generative models. To address this, we propose a framework centered on hard sample classification. The core idea is that a model capable of distinguishing challenging hard samples is inherently equipped to handle simpler cases effectively. We investigate multiple reconstruction paradigms, identifying the diffusion-based method as optimal for generating hard samples. Furthermore, we leverage multi-layer feature aggregation and introduce a Regularization-Assisted Contrastive Learning (RACL) objective to enhance generalizability. Experiments demonstrate the superior generalization of our approach, with our best model achieving a significant reduction in the average Equal Error Rate (EER) compared to the baseline.

LUCY: Linguistic Understanding and Control Yielding Early Stage of HerHeting Gao, Hang Shao, Xiong Wang et al.
The film Her features Samantha, a sophisticated AI audio agent who is capable of understanding both linguistic and paralinguistic information in human speech and delivering real-time responses that are natural, informative and sensitive to emotional subtleties. Moving one step toward more sophisticated audio agent from recent advancement in end-to-end (E2E) speech systems, we propose LUCY, a E2E speech model that (1) senses and responds to user's emotion, (2) deliver responses in a succinct and natural style, and (3) use external tool to answer real-time inquiries. Experiment results show that LUCY is better at emotion control than peer models, generating emotional responses based on linguistic emotional instructions and responding to paralinguistic emotional cues. Lucy is also able to generate responses in a more natural style, as judged by external language models, without sacrificing much performance on general question answering. Finally, LUCY can leverage function calls to answer questions that are out of its knowledge scope.

Simulating Human-like Daily Activities with Desire-driven AutonomyYiding Wang, Yuxuan Chen, Fangwei Zhong et al. · pku
Desires motivate humans to interact autonomously with the complex world. In contrast, current AI agents require explicit task specifications, such as instructions or reward functions, which constrain their autonomy and behavioral diversity. In this paper, we introduce a Desire-driven Autonomous Agent (D2A) that can enable a large language model (LLM) to autonomously propose and select tasks, motivated by satisfying its multi-dimensional desires. Specifically, the motivational framework of D2A is mainly constructed by a dynamic Value System, inspired by the Theory of Needs. It incorporates an understanding of human-like desires, such as the need for social interaction, personal fulfillment, and self-care. At each step, the agent evaluates the value of its current state, proposes a set of candidate activities, and selects the one that best aligns with its intrinsic motivations. We conduct experiments on Concordia, a text-based simulator, to demonstrate that our agent generates coherent, contextually relevant daily activities while exhibiting variability and adaptability similar to human behavior. A comparative analysis with other LLM-based agents demonstrates that our approach significantly enhances the rationality of the simulated activities.
