LAGS: Low-Altitude Gaussian Splatting with Groupwise Heterogeneous Graph Learning

Yikun Wang, Yujie Wan, Wei Zuo et al.

Low-altitude Gaussian splatting (LAGS) facilitates 3D scene reconstruction by aggregating aerial images from distributed drones. However, as LAGS prioritizes maximizing reconstruction quality over communication throughput, existing low-altitude resource allocation schemes become inefficient. This inefficiency stems from their failure to account for image diversity introduced by varying viewpoints. To fill this gap, we propose a groupwise heterogeneous graph neural network (GW-HGNN) for LAGS resource allocation. GW-HGNN explicitly models the non-uniform contribution of different image groups to the reconstruction process, thus automatically balancing data fidelity and transmission cost. The key insight of GW-HGNN is to transform LAGS losses and communication constraints into graph learning costs for dual-level message passing. Experiments on real-world LAGS datasets demonstrate that GW-HGNN significantly outperforms state-of-the-art benchmarks across key rendering metrics, including PSNR, SSIM, and LPIPS. Furthermore, GW-HGNN reduces computational latency by approximately 100x compared to the widely-used MOSEK solver, achieving millisecond-level inference suitable for real-time deployment.

Memory-Native Non-Terrestrial Networks for Embodied Intelligence

Chengyang Li, Yikun Wang, Jiahui He et al.

Non-terrestrial networks (NTN) provide ubiquitous connectivity for embodied intelligence (EI), enabling robots in wilderness to leverage cloud resources or report critical information to remote centers. However, the synergy is nontrivial due to the highly-dynamic, resource-constrained, topology-varying, and task-oriented environment. Existing memoryless NTN protocols become inefficient, since the decisions are driven by local channel conditions and instantaneous service demands. To address these limitations, this paper proposes the memory-native NTN (MemNTN) paradigm that leverages long-horizon contexts for memory augmented system optimization. To realize this paradigm shift, we establish a dual-memory architecture that distinguishes between physical memory representing the state of the world and digital memory encoding historical network experience. We develop memory acquisition, compression, valuation, update, and utilization mechanisms that facilitate cross-layer, memory-native decision-making, spanning from the physical and access layers up to the network and application layers. Experiments in satellite embodied question answering (SEQA) demonstrate that the proposed MemNTN significantly outperforms conventional stateless NTN and terrestrial approaches.

STT-GS: Sample-Then-Transmit Edge Gaussian Splatting with Joint Client Selection and Power Control

Zhen Li, Xibin Jin, Guoliang Li et al.

Edge Gaussian splatting (EGS), which aggregates data from distributed clients and trains a global GS model at the edge server, is an emerging paradigm for scene reconstruction. Unlike traditional edge resource management methods that emphasize communication throughput or general-purpose learning performance, EGS explicitly aims to maximize the GS qualities, rendering existing approaches inapplicable. To address this problem, this paper formulates a novel GS-oriented objective function that distinguishes the heterogeneous view contributions of different clients. However, evaluating this function in turn requires clients' images, leading to a causality dilemma. To this end, this paper further proposes a sample-then-transmit EGS (or STT-GS for short) strategy, which first samples a subset of images as pilot data from each client for loss prediction. Based on the first-stage evaluation, communication resources are then prioritized towards more valuable clients. To achieve efficient sampling, a feature-domain clustering (FDC) scheme is proposed to select the most representative data and pilot transmission time minimization (PTTM) is adopted to reduce the pilot overhead.Subsequently, we develop a joint client selection and power control (JCSPC) framework to maximize the GS-oriented function under communication resource constraints. Despite the nonconvexity of the problem, we propose a low-complexity efficient solution based on the penalty alternating majorization minimization (PAMM) algorithm. Experiments unveil that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms existing benchmarks on real-world datasets. It is found that the GS-oriented objective can be accurately predicted with low sampling ratios (e.g.,10%), and our method achieves an excellent tradeoff between view contributions and communication costs.

Joint Adaptive OFDM and Reinforcement Learning Design for Autonomous Vehicles: Leveraging Age of Updates

Mamady Delamou, Ahmed Naeem, Huseyin Arslan et al.

Millimeter wave (mmWave)-based orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) stands out as a suitable alternative for high-resolution sensing and high-speed data transmission. To meet communication and sensing requirements, many works propose a static configuration where the wave's hyperparameters such as the number of symbols in a frame and the number of frames in a communication slot are already predefined. However, two facts oblige us to redefine the problem, (1) the environment is often dynamic and uncertain, and (2) mmWave is severely impacted by wireless environments. A striking example where this challenge is very prominent is autonomous vehicle (AV). Such a system leverages integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) using mmWave to manage data transmission and the dynamism of the environment. In this work, we consider an autonomous vehicle network where an AV utilizes its queue state information (QSI) and channel state information (CSI) in conjunction with reinforcement learning techniques to manage communication and sensing. This enables the AV to achieve two primary objectives: establishing a stable communication link with other AVs and accurately estimating the velocities of surrounding objects with high resolution. The communication performance is therefore evaluated based on the queue state, the effective data rate, and the discarded packets rate. In contrast, the effectiveness of the sensing is assessed using the velocity resolution. In addition, we exploit adaptive OFDM techniques for dynamic modulation, and we suggest a reward function that leverages the age of updates to handle the communication buffer and improve sensing. The system is validated using advantage actor-critic (A2C) and proximal policy optimization (PPO). Furthermore, we compare our solution with the existing design and demonstrate its superior performance by computer simulations.

Arraymetrics: Authentication Through Chaotic Antenna Array Geometries

Murat Karabacak, Berker Peköz, Gökhan Mumcu et al.

Advances in computing have resulted in an emerging need for multi-factor authentication using an amalgamation of cryptographic and physical keys. This letter presents a novel authentication approach using a combination of signal and antenna activation sequences, and most importantly, perturbed antenna array geometries. Possible degrees of freedom in perturbing antenna array geometries affected physical properties and their detection are presented. Channel estimation for the plurality of validly authorized arrays is discussed. Accuracy is investigated as a function of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and number of authorized arrays. It is observed that the proposed authentication scheme can provide 1% false authentication rate at 10 dB SNR, while it is achieving less than 1% missed authentication rates.
