Goal-VLA: Image-Generative VLMs as Object-Centric World Models Empowering Zero-shot Robot ManipulationHaonan Chen, Jingxiang Guo, Bangjun Wang et al.
Generalization remains a fundamental challenge in robotic manipulation. To tackle this challenge, recent Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models build policies on top of Vision-Language Models (VLMs), seeking to transfer their open-world semantic knowledge. However, their zero-shot capability lags significantly behind the base VLMs, as the instruction-vision-action data is too limited to cover diverse scenarios, tasks, and robot embodiments. In this work, we present Goal-VLA, a zero-shot framework that leverages Image-Generative VLMs as world models to generate desired goal states, from which the target object pose is derived to enable generalizable manipulation. The key insight is that object state representation is the golden interface, naturally separating a manipulation system into high-level and low-level policies. This representation abstracts away explicit action annotations, allowing the use of highly generalizable VLMs while simultaneously providing spatial cues for training-free low-level control. To further improve robustness, we introduce a Reflection-through-Synthesis process that iteratively validates and refines the generated goal image before execution. Both simulated and real-world experiments demonstrate that our \name achieves strong performance and inspiring generalizability in manipulation tasks. AdaClearGrasp: Learning Adaptive Clearing for Zero-Shot Robust Dexterous Grasping in Densely Cluttered EnvironmentsZixuan Chen, Wenquan Zhang, Jing Fang et al.
In densely cluttered environments, physical interference, visual occlusions, and unstable contacts often cause direct dexterous grasping to fail, while aggressive singulation strategies may compromise safety. Enabling robots to adaptively decide whether to clear surrounding objects or directly grasp the target is therefore crucial for robust manipulation. We propose AdaClearGrasp, a closed-loop decision-execution framework for adaptive clearing and zero-shot dexterous grasping in densely cluttered environments. The framework formulates manipulation as a controllable high-level decision process that determines whether to directly grasp the target or first clear surrounding objects. A pretrained vision-language model (VLM) interprets visual observations and language task descriptions to reason about grasp interference and generate a high-level planning skeleton, which invokes structured atomic skills through a unified action interface. For dexterous grasping, we train a reinforcement learning policy with a relative hand-object distance representation, enabling zero-shot generalization across diverse object geometries and physical properties. During execution, visual feedback monitors outcomes and triggers replanning upon failures, forming a closed-loop correction mechanism. To evaluate language-conditioned dexterous grasping in clutter, we introduce Clutter-Bench, the first simulation benchmark with graded clutter complexity. It includes seven target objects across three clutter levels, yielding 210 task scenarios. We further perform sim-to-real experiments on three objects under three clutter levels (18 scenarios). Results demonstrate that AdaClearGrasp significantly improves grasp success rates in densely cluttered environments. Improving Offline Reinforcement Learning with Inaccurate SimulatorsYiwen Hou, Haoyuan Sun, Jinming Ma et al.
Offline reinforcement learning (RL) provides a promising approach to avoid costly online interaction with the real environment. However, the performance of offline RL highly depends on the quality of the datasets, which may cause extrapolation error in the learning process. In many robotic applications, an inaccurate simulator is often available. However, the data directly collected from the inaccurate simulator cannot be directly used in offline RL due to the well-known exploration-exploitation dilemma and the dynamic gap between inaccurate simulation and the real environment. To address these issues, we propose a novel approach to combine the offline dataset and the inaccurate simulation data in a better manner. Specifically, we pre-train a generative adversarial network (GAN) model to fit the state distribution of the offline dataset. Given this, we collect data from the inaccurate simulator starting from the distribution provided by the generator and reweight the simulated data using the discriminator. Our experimental results in the D4RL benchmark and a real-world manipulation task confirm that our method can benefit more from both inaccurate simulator and limited offline datasets to achieve better performance than the state-of-the-art methods.

VLA-OS: Structuring and Dissecting Planning Representations and Paradigms in Vision-Language-Action ModelsChongkai Gao, Zixuan Liu, Zhenghao Chi et al.
Recent studies on Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have shifted from the end-to-end action-generation paradigm toward a pipeline involving task planning followed by action generation, demonstrating improved performance on various complex, long-horizon manipulation tasks. However, existing approaches vary significantly in terms of network architectures, planning paradigms, representations, and training data sources, making it challenging for researchers to identify the precise sources of performance gains and components to be further improved. To systematically investigate the impacts of different planning paradigms and representations isolating from network architectures and training data, in this paper, we introduce VLA-OS, a unified VLA architecture series capable of various task planning paradigms, and design a comprehensive suite of controlled experiments across diverse object categories (rigid and deformable), visual modalities (2D and 3D), environments (simulation and real-world), and end-effectors (grippers and dexterous hands). Our results demonstrate that: 1) visually grounded planning representations are generally better than language planning representations; 2) the Hierarchical-VLA paradigm generally achieves superior or comparable performance than other paradigms on task performance, pretraining, generalization ability, scalability, and continual learning ability, albeit at the cost of slower training and inference speeds.

RoTri-Diff: A Spatial Robot-Object Triadic Interaction-Guided Diffusion Model for Bimanual ManipulationZixuan Chen, Nga Teng Chan, Yiwen Hou et al.
Bimanual manipulation is a fundamental robotic skill that requires continuous and precise coordination between two arms. While imitation learning (IL) is the dominant paradigm for acquiring this capability, existing approaches, whether robot-centric or object-centric, often overlook the dynamic geometric relationship among the two arms and the manipulated object. This limitation frequently leads to inter-arm collisions, unstable grasps, and degraded performance in complex tasks. To address this, in this paper we explicitly models the Robot-Object Triadic Interaction (RoTri) representation in bimanual systems, by encoding the relative 6D poses between the two arms and the object to capture their spatial triadic relationship and establish continuous triangular geometric constraints. Building on this, we further introduce RoTri-Diff, a diffusion-based imitation learning framework that combines RoTri constraints with robot keyposes and object motion in a hierarchical diffusion process. This enables the generation of stable, coordinated trajectories and robust execution across different modes of bimanual manipulation. Extensive experiments show that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art baselines by 10.2% on 11 representative RLBench2 tasks and achieves stable performance on 4 challenging real-world bimanual tasks. SGSM: A Foundation-model-like Semi-generalist Sensing ModelTianjian Yang, Hao Zhou, Shuo Liu et al.
The significance of intelligent sensing systems is growing in the realm of smart services. These systems extract relevant signal features and generate informative representations for particular tasks. However, building the feature extraction component for such systems requires extensive domain-specific expertise or data. The exceptionally rapid development of foundation models is likely to usher in newfound abilities in such intelligent sensing. We propose a new scheme for sensing model, which we refer to as semi-generalist sensing model (SGSM). SGSM is able to semiautomatically solve various tasks using relatively less task-specific labeled data compared to traditional systems. Built through the analysis of the common theoretical model, SGSM can depict different modalities, such as the acoustic and Wi-Fi signal. Experimental results on such two heterogeneous sensors illustrate that SGSM functions across a wide range of scenarios, thereby establishing its broad applicability. In some cases, SGSM even achieves better performance than sensor-specific specialized solutions. Wi-Fi evaluations indicate a 20\% accuracy improvement when applying SGSM to an existing sensing model.
