Geodesics with Unified Tangent-constrained Priors and Curvature Regularization

Curvature-penalized geodesic models have proven their effectiveness in image segmentation by computing globally optimal curves. Unfortunately, these models remain susceptible to shortcuts when delineating objects with complex shapes and image intensity distributions, as they lack mechanisms to enforce shape-aware tangent constraints. To address this limitation, we propose a unified geodesic framework that integrates tangent-constrained priors with curvature penalization. The key idea is to formulate tangent admissibility directly within the orientation-lifted space, where path tangents are restricted to spatially varying angular sectors derived from intrinsic shape representatives (ISR) such as skeletons or interior landmarks. This formulation gives rise to a family of tangent-constrained Finslerian metrics, extending the classical curvature-penalized geodesic models while enforcing mandatory tangent constraints. The resulting Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) partial differential equations (PDEs) admit efficient numerical solutions via variants of the fast marching method, preserving the single-pass computational complexity. Experiments on synthetic, natural, and medical images demonstrate that the proposed geodesic framework indeed improves robustness against weak boundaries and topological shortcuts, yielding segmentation results with enhanced shape fidelity compared to existing geodesic models.

Reinforcement Learning-Based Dynamic Grouping for Tubular Structure Tracking

The computation of minimal paths for the applications in tracking tubular structures such as blood vessels and roads is challenged by complex morphologies and environmental variations. Existing approaches can be roughly categorized into two research lines: the point-wise based models and the segment-wise based models. Although segment-wise approaches have obtained promising results in many scenarios, they often suffer from computational inefficiency and heavily rely on a prescribed prior to fit the target elongated shapes. We propose a novel framework that casts segment-wise tracking as a Markov Decision Process (MDP), enabling a reinforcement learning approach. Our method leverages Q-Learning to dynamically explore a graph of segments, computing edge weights on-demand and adaptively expanding the search space. This strategy avoids the high cost of a pre-computed graph and proves robust to incomplete initial information. Experimental reuslts on typical tubular structure datasets demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art point-wise and segment-wise approaches. The proposed method effectively handles complex topologies and maintains global path coherence without depending on extensive prior structural knowledge.

PromptLA: Towards Integrity Verification of Black-box Text-to-Image Diffusion Models

Despite the impressive synthesis quality of text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models, their black-box deployment poses significant regulatory challenges: Malicious actors can fine-tune these models to generate illegal content, circumventing existing safeguards through parameter manipulation. Therefore, it is essential to verify the integrity of T2I diffusion models. To this end, considering the randomness within the outputs of generative models and the high costs in interacting with them, we discern model tampering via the KL divergence between the distributions of the features of generated images. We propose a novel prompt selection algorithm based on learning automaton (PromptLA) for efficient and accurate verification. Evaluations on four advanced T2I models (e.g., SDXL, FLUX.1) demonstrate that our method achieves a mean AUC of over 0.96 in integrity detection, exceeding baselines by more than 0.2, showcasing strong effectiveness and generalization. Additionally, our approach achieves lower cost and is robust against image-level post-processing. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first work addressing the integrity verification of T2I diffusion models, which establishes quantifiable standards for AI copyright litigation in practice.

Learning automata based SVM for intrusion detection

As an indispensable defensive measure of network security, the intrusion detection is a process of monitoring the events occurring in a computer system or network and analyzing them for signs of possible incidents. It is a classifier to judge the event is normal or malicious. The information used for intrusion detection contains some redundant features which would increase the difficulty of training the classifier for intrusion detection and increase the time of making predictions. To simplify the training process and improve the efficiency of the classifier, it is necessary to remove these dispensable features. in this paper, we propose a novel LA-SVM scheme to automatically remove redundant features focusing on intrusion detection. This is the first application of learning automata for solving dimension reduction problems. The simulation results indicate that the LA-SVM scheme achieves a higher accuracy and is more efficient in making predictions compared with traditional SVM.

A double competitive strategy based learning automata algorithm

Learning Automata (LA) are considered as one of the most powerful tools in the field of reinforcement learning. The family of estimator algorithms is proposed to improve the convergence rate of LA and has made great achievements. However, the estimators perform poorly on estimating the reward probabilities of actions in the initial stage of the learning process of LA. In this situation, a lot of rewards would be added to the probabilities of non-optimal actions. Thus, a large number of extra iterations are needed to compensate for these wrong rewards. In order to improve the speed of convergence, we propose a new P-model absorbing learning automaton by utilizing a double competitive strategy which is designed for updating the action probability vector. In this way, the wrong rewards can be corrected instantly. Hence, the proposed Double Competitive Algorithm overcomes the drawbacks of existing estimator algorithms. A refined analysis is presented to show the $ε-optimality$ of the proposed scheme. The extensive experimental results in benchmark environments demonstrate that our proposed learning automata perform more efficiently than the most classic LA $SE_{RI}$ and the current fastest LA $DGCPA^{*}$.
