A Reference Model for Collaborative Business Intelligence Virtual Assistants

Olga Cherednichenko, Fahad Muhammad, Jérôme Darmont et al.

Collaborative Business Analysis (CBA) is a methodology that involves bringing together different stakeholders, including business users, analysts, and technical specialists, to collaboratively analyze data and gain insights into business operations. The primary objective of CBA is to encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration between the different groups involved in business analysis, as this can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of the data and better decision-making. CBA typically involves a range of activities, including data gathering and analysis, brainstorming, problem-solving, decision-making and knowledge sharing. These activities may take place through various channels, such as in-person meetings, virtual collaboration tools or online forums. This paper deals with virtual collaboration tools as an important part of Business Intelligence (BI) platform. Collaborative Business Intelligence (CBI) tools are becoming more user-friendly, accessible, and flexible, allowing users to customize their experience and adapt to their specific needs. The goal of a virtual assistant is to make data exploration more accessible to a wider range of users and to reduce the time and effort required for data analysis. It describes the unified business intelligence semantic model, coupled with a data warehouse and collaborative unit to employ data mining technology. Moreover, we propose a virtual assistant for CBI and a reference model of virtual tools for CBI, which consists of three components: conversational, data exploration and recommendation agents. We believe that the allocation of these three functional tasks allows you to structure the CBI issue and apply relevant and productive models for human-like dialogue, text-to-command transferring, and recommendations simultaneously. The complex approach based on these three points gives the basis for virtual tool for collaboration. CBI encourages people, processes, and technology to enable everyone sharing and leveraging collective expertise, knowledge and data to gain valuable insights for making better decisions. This allows to respond more quickly and effectively to changes in the market or internal operations and improve the progress.

Collaborative business intelligence virtual assistant

Olga Cherednichenko, Fahad Muhammad

The present-day business landscape necessitates novel methodologies that integrate intelligent technologies and tools capable of swiftly providing precise and dependable information for decision-making purposes. Contemporary society is characterized by vast amounts of accumulated data across various domains, which hold considerable potential for informing and guiding decision-making processes. However, these data are typically collected and stored by disparate and unrelated software systems, stored in diverse formats, and offer varying levels of accessibility and security. To address the challenges associated with processing such large volumes of data, organizations often rely on data analysts. Nonetheless, a significant hurdle in harnessing the benefits of accumulated data lies in the lack of direct communication between technical specialists, decision-makers, and business process analysts. To overcome this issue, the application of collaborative business intelligence (CBI) emerges as a viable solution. This research focuses on the applications of data mining and aims to model CBI processes within distributed virtual teams through the interaction of users and a CBI Virtual Assistant. The proposed virtual assistant for CBI endeavors to enhance data exploration accessibility for a wider range of users and streamline the time and effort required for data analysis. The key contributions of this study encompass: 1) a reference model representing collaborative BI, inspired by linguistic theory; 2) an approach that enables the transformation of user queries into executable commands, thereby facilitating their utilization within data exploration software; and 3) the primary workflow of a conversational agent designed for data analytics.

Towards French Smart Building Code: Compliance Checking Based on Semantic Rules

Nicolas Bus, Ana Roxin, Guillaume Picinbono et al.

Manually checking models for compliance against building regulation is a time-consuming task for architects and construction engineers. There is thus a need for algorithms that process information from construction projects and report non-compliant elements. Still automated code-compliance checking raises several obstacles. Building regulations are usually published as human readable texts and their content is often ambiguous or incomplete. Also, the vocabulary used for expressing such regulations is very different from the vocabularies used to express Building Information Models (BIM). Furthermore, the high level of details associated to BIM-contained geometries induces complex calculations. Finally, the level of complexity of the IFC standard also hinders the automation of IFC processing tasks. Model chart, formal rules and pre-processors approach allows translating construction regulations into semantic queries. We further demonstrate the usefulness of this approach through several use cases. We argue our approach is a step forward in bridging the gap between regulation texts and automated checking algorithms. Finally with the recent building ontology BOT recommended by the W3C Linked Building Data Community Group, we identify perspectives for standardizing and extending our approach.

Semantic integration of UML class diagram with semantic validation on segments of mappings

Hicham Elasri, Elmustapha Elabbassi, Sekkaki Abderrahim et al.

Recently, attention has focused on the software development, specially by differ-ent teams that are geographically distant to support collaborative work. Manage-ment, description and modeling in such collaborative approach are through sever-al tools and techniques based on UML models. It is now supported by a large number of tools. Most of these systems have the ability to compare different UML models, assist developers, designers and also provide operations for the merging and integration, to produce a coherent model. The contribution in this ar-ticle is both to integrate a set of UML class diagrams using mappings that are re-sult of alignment and assist designers and developers in the integration. In addi-tion, we will present a detail integration of UML models with the validation of mappings between them. Such validation helps to achieve correct, consistent and coherent integrated model.

BPCMont: Business Process Change Management Ontology

Muhammad Fahad

Change management for evolving collaborative business process development is crucial when the business logic, transections and workflow change due to changes in business strategies or organizational and technical environment. During the change implementation, business processes are analyzed and improved ensuring that they capture the proposed change and they do not contain any undesired functionalities or change side-effects. This paper presents Business Process Change Management approach for the efficient and effective implementation of change in the business process. The key technology behind our approach is our proposed Business Process Change Management Ontology (BPCMont) which is the main contribution of this paper. BPCMont, as a formalized change specification, helps to revert BP into a consistent state in case of system crash, intermediate conflicting stage or unauthorized change done, aid in change traceability in the new and old versions of business processes, change effects can be seen and estimated effectively, ease for Stakeholders to validate and verify change implementation, etc.

DKP-AOM: results for OAEI 2015

Muhammad Fahad

In this paper, we present the results obtained by our DKP-AOM system within the OAEI 2015 campaign. DKP-AOM is an ontology merging tool designed to merge heterogeneous ontologies. In OAEI, we have participated with its ontology mapping component which serves as a basic module capable of matching large scale ontologies before their merging. This is our first successful participation in the Conference, OA4QA and Anatomy track of OAEI. DKP-AOM is participating with two versions (DKP-AOM and DKP-AOM_lite), DKP-AOM performs coherence analysis. In OA4QA track, DKPAOM out-performed in the evaluation and generated accurate alignments allowed to answer all the queries of the evaluation. We can also see its competitive results for the conference track in the evaluation initiative among other reputed systems. In the anatomy track, it has produced alignments within an allocated time and appeared in the list of systems which produce coherent results. Finally, we discuss some future work towards the development of DKP-AOM.
