Lightweight Structure-aware Transformer Network for VHR Remote Sensing Image Change Detection

Tao Lei, Yetong Xu, Hailong Ning et al.

Popular Transformer networks have been successfully applied to remote sensing (RS) image change detection (CD) identifications and achieve better results than most convolutional neural networks (CNNs), but they still suffer from two main problems. First, the computational complexity of the Transformer grows quadratically with the increase of image spatial resolution, which is unfavorable to very high-resolution (VHR) RS images. Second, these popular Transformer networks tend to ignore the importance of fine-grained features, which results in poor edge integrity and internal tightness for largely changed objects and leads to the loss of small changed objects. To address the above issues, this Letter proposes a Lightweight Structure-aware Transformer (LSAT) network for RS image CD. The proposed LSAT has two advantages. First, a Cross-dimension Interactive Self-attention (CISA) module with linear complexity is designed to replace the vanilla self-attention in visual Transformer, which effectively reduces the computational complexity while improving the feature representation ability of the proposed LSAT. Second, a Structure-aware Enhancement Module (SAEM) is designed to enhance difference features and edge detail information, which can achieve double enhancement by difference refinement and detail aggregation so as to obtain fine-grained features of bi-temporal RS images. Experimental results show that the proposed LSAT achieves significant improvement in detection accuracy and offers a better tradeoff between accuracy and computational costs than most state-of-the-art CD methods for VHR RS images.

UnicEdit-10M: A Dataset and Benchmark Breaking the Scale-Quality Barrier via Unified Verification for Reasoning-Enriched Edits

Keming Ye, Zhipeng Huang, Canmiao Fu et al.

With the rapid advances of powerful multimodal models such as GPT-4o, Nano Banana, and Seedream 4.0 in Image Editing, the performance gap between closed-source and open-source models is widening, primarily due to the scarcity of large-scale, high-quality training data and comprehensive benchmarks capable of diagnosing model weaknesses across diverse editing behaviors. Existing data construction methods face a scale-quality trade-off: human annotations are high-quality but not scalable, while automated pipelines suffer from error propagation and noise. To address this, we introduce a lightweight data pipeline that replaces multi-toolchains with an end-to-end model and a unified post-verification stage. For scalable quality control, we train a 7B dual-task expert model, \textbf{Qwen-Verify}, for efficient failure detection and instruction recaptioning. This pipeline yields \textbf{UnicEdit-10M}, a 10M-scale dataset spanning diverse basic and complex editing tasks. We also propose \textbf{UnicBench}, a general benchmark that extends beyond basic edits to explicitly assess spatial and knowledge-driven reasoning. To enable fine-grained diagnosis, we introduce novel metrics, including \textit{Non-edit Consistency} and \textit{Reasoning Accuracy}. Our analysis of mainstream models on UnicBench reveals their limitations and provides clear directions for future research.

PPTNet: A Hybrid Periodic Pattern-Transformer Architecture for Traffic Flow Prediction and Congestion Identification

Hongrui Kou, Jingkai Li, Ziyu Wang et al.

Accurate prediction of traffic flow parameters and real time identification of congestion states are essential for the efficient operation of intelligent transportation systems. This paper proposes a Periodic Pattern Transformer Network (PPTNet) for traffic flow prediction, integrating periodic pattern extraction with the Transformer architecture, coupled with a fuzzy inference method for real-time congestion identification. Firstly, a high-precision traffic flow dataset (Traffic Flow Dataset for China's Congested Highways and Expressways, TF4CHE) suitable for congested highway scenarios in China is constructed based on drone aerial imagery data. Subsequently, the proposed PPTNet employs Fast Fourier Transform to capture multi-scale periodic patterns and utilizes two-dimensional Inception convolutions to efficiently extract intra and inter periodic features. A Transformer decoder dynamically models temporal dependencies, enabling accurate predictions of traffic density and speed. Finally, congestion probabilities are calculated in real-time using the predicted outcomes via a Mamdani fuzzy inference-based congestion identification module. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed PPTNet significantly outperforms mainstream traffic prediction methods in prediction accuracy, and the congestion identification module effectively identifies real-time road congestion states, verifying the superiority and practicality of the proposed method in real-world traffic scenarios. Preliminary Explorations with GPT-4o(mni) Native Image Generation

Pu Cao, Feng Zhou, Junyi Ji et al.

Recently, the visual generation ability by GPT-4o(mni) has been unlocked by OpenAI. It demonstrates a very remarkable generation capability with excellent multimodal condition understanding and varied task instructions. In this paper, we aim to explore the capabilities of GPT-4o across various tasks. Inspired by previous study, we constructed a task taxonomy along with a carefully curated set of test samples to conduct a comprehensive qualitative test. Benefiting from GPT-4o's powerful multimodal comprehension, its image-generation process demonstrates abilities surpassing those of traditional image-generation tasks. Thus, regarding the dimensions of model capabilities, we evaluate its performance across six task categories: traditional image generation tasks, discriminative tasks, knowledge-based generation, commonsense-based generation, spatially-aware image generation, and temporally-aware image generation. These tasks not only assess the quality and conditional alignment of the model's outputs but also probe deeper into GPT-4o's understanding of real-world concepts. Our results reveal that GPT-4o performs impressively well in general-purpose synthesis tasks, showing strong capabilities in text-to-image generation, visual stylization, and low-level image processing. However, significant limitations remain in its ability to perform precise spatial reasoning, instruction-grounded generation, and consistent temporal prediction. Furthermore, when faced with knowledge-intensive or domain-specific scenarios, such as scientific illustrations or mathematical plots, the model often exhibits hallucinations, factual errors, or structural inconsistencies. These findings suggest that while GPT-4o marks a substantial advancement in unified multimodal generation, there is still a long way to go before it can be reliably applied to professional or safety-critical domains.
