Learning Transformation-Isomorphic Latent Space for Accurate Hand Pose Estimation

Kaiwen Ren, Lei Hu, Zhiheng Zhang et al.

Vision-based regression tasks, such as hand pose estimation, have achieved higher accuracy and faster convergence through representation learning. However, existing representation learning methods often encounter the following issues: the high semantic level of features extracted from images is inadequate for regressing low-level information, and the extracted features include task-irrelevant information, reducing their compactness and interfering with regression tasks. To address these challenges, we propose TI-Net, a highly versatile visual Network backbone designed to construct a Transformation Isomorphic latent space. Specifically, we employ linear transformations to model geometric transformations in the latent space and ensure that {\rm TI-Net} aligns them with those in the image space. This ensures that the latent features capture compact, low-level information beneficial for pose estimation tasks. We evaluated TI-Net on the hand pose estimation task to demonstrate the network's superiority. On the DexYCB dataset, TI-Net achieved a 10% improvement in the PA-MPJPE metric compared to specialized state-of-the-art (SOTA) hand pose estimation methods. Our code will be released in the future.

Diffusion-based Human Motion Style Transfer with Semantic Guidance

Lei Hu, Zihao Zhang, Yongjing Ye et al.

3D Human motion style transfer is a fundamental problem in computer graphic and animation processing. Existing AdaIN- based methods necessitate datasets with balanced style distribution and content/style labels to train the clustered latent space. However, we may encounter a single unseen style example in practical scenarios, but not in sufficient quantity to constitute a style cluster for AdaIN-based methods. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel two-stage framework for few-shot style transfer learning based on the diffusion model. Specifically, in the first stage, we pre-train a diffusion-based text-to-motion model as a generative prior so that it can cope with various content motion inputs. In the second stage, based on the single style example, we fine-tune the pre-trained diffusion model in a few-shot manner to make it capable of style transfer. The key idea is regarding the reverse process of diffusion as a motion-style translation process since the motion styles can be viewed as special motion variations. During the fine-tuning for style transfer, a simple yet effective semantic-guided style transfer loss coordinated with style example reconstruction loss is introduced to supervise the style transfer in CLIP semantic space. The qualitative and quantitative evaluations demonstrate that our method can achieve state-of-the-art performance and has practical applications.

Automatic laminectomy cutting plane planning based on artificial intelligence in robot assisted laminectomy surgery

Zhuofu Li, Yonghong Zhang, Chengxia Wang et al.

Objective: This study aims to use artificial intelligence to realize the automatic planning of laminectomy, and verify the method. Methods: We propose a two-stage approach for automatic laminectomy cutting plane planning. The first stage was the identification of key points. 7 key points were manually marked on each CT image. The Spatial Pyramid Upsampling Network (SPU-Net) algorithm developed by us was used to accurately locate the 7 key points. In the second stage, based on the identification of key points, a personalized coordinate system was generated for each vertebra. Finally, the transverse and longitudinal cutting planes of laminectomy were generated under the coordinate system. The overall effect of planning was evaluated. Results: In the first stage, the average localization error of the SPU-Net algorithm for the seven key points was 0.65mm. In the second stage, a total of 320 transverse cutting planes and 640 longitudinal cutting planes were planned by the algorithm. Among them, the number of horizontal plane planning effects of grade A, B, and C were 318(99.38%), 1(0.31%), and 1(0.31%), respectively. The longitudinal planning effects of grade A, B, and C were 622(97.18%), 1(0.16%), and 17(2.66%), respectively. Conclusions: In this study, we propose a method for automatic surgical path planning of laminectomy based on the localization of key points in CT images. The results showed that the method achieved satisfactory results. More studies are needed to confirm the reliability of this approach in the future.

Transformer-Unet: Raw Image Processing with Unet

Youyang Sha, Yonghong Zhang, Xuquan Ji et al.

Medical image segmentation have drawn massive attention as it is important in biomedical image analysis. Good segmentation results can assist doctors with their judgement and further improve patients' experience. Among many available pipelines in medical image analysis, Unet is one of the most popular neural networks as it keeps raw features by adding concatenation between encoder and decoder, which makes it still widely used in industrial field. In the mean time, as a popular model which dominates natural language process tasks, transformer is now introduced to computer vision tasks and have seen promising results in object detection, image classification and semantic segmentation tasks. Therefore, the combination of transformer and Unet is supposed to be more efficient than both methods working individually. In this article, we propose Transformer-Unet by adding transformer modules in raw images instead of feature maps in Unet and test our network in CT82 datasets for Pancreas segmentation accordingly. We form an end-to-end network and gain segmentation results better than many previous Unet based algorithms in our experiment. We demonstrate our network and show our experimental results in this paper accordingly.

WRICNet:A Weighted Rich-scale Inception Coder Network for Multi-Resolution Remote Sensing Image Change Detection

Yu Jiang, Lei Hu, Yongmei Zhang et al.

Majority models of remote sensing image changing detection can only get great effect in a specific resolution data set. With the purpose of improving change detection effectiveness of the model in the multi-resolution data set, a weighted rich-scale inception coder network (WRICNet) is proposed in this article, which can make a great fusion of shallow multi-scale features, and deep multi-scale features. The weighted rich-scale inception module of the proposed can obtain shallow multi-scale features, the weighted rich-scale coder module can obtain deep multi-scale features. The weighted scale block assigns appropriate weights to features of different scales, which can strengthen expressive ability of the edge of the changing area. The performance experiments on the multi-resolution data set demonstrate that, compared to the comparative methods, the proposed can further reduce the false alarm outside the change area, and the missed alarm in the change area, besides, the edge of the change area is more accurate. The ablation study of the proposed shows that the training strategy, and improvements of this article can improve the effectiveness of change detection.
