Align-DETR: Enhancing End-to-end Object Detection with Aligned LossZhi Cai, Songtao Liu, Guodong Wang et al.
DETR has set up a simple end-to-end pipeline for object detection by formulating this task as a set prediction problem, showing promising potential. Despite its notable advancements, this paper identifies two key forms of misalignment within the model: classification-regression misalignment and cross-layer target misalignment. Both issues impede DETR's convergence and degrade its overall performance. To tackle both issues simultaneously, we introduce a novel loss function, termed as Align Loss, designed to resolve the discrepancy between the two tasks. Align Loss guides the optimization of DETR through a joint quality metric, strengthening the connection between classification and regression. Furthermore, it incorporates an exponential down-weighting term to facilitate a smooth transition from positive to negative samples. Align-DETR also employs many-to-one matching for supervision of intermediate layers, akin to the design of H-DETR, which enhances robustness against instability. We conducted extensive experiments, yielding highly competitive results. Notably, our method achieves a 49.3% (+0.6) AP on the H-DETR baseline with the ResNet-50 backbone. It also sets a new state-of-the-art performance, reaching 50.5% AP in the 1x setting and 51.7% AP in the 2x setting, surpassing several strong competitors. Crowd-SAM: SAM as a Smart Annotator for Object Detection in Crowded ScenesZhi Cai, Yingjie Gao, Yaoyan Zheng et al.
In computer vision, object detection is an important task that finds its application in many scenarios. However, obtaining extensive labels can be challenging, especially in crowded scenes. Recently, the Segment Anything Model (SAM) has been proposed as a powerful zero-shot segmenter, offering a novel approach to instance segmentation tasks. However, the accuracy and efficiency of SAM and its variants are often compromised when handling objects in crowded and occluded scenes. In this paper, we introduce Crowd-SAM, a SAM-based framework designed to enhance SAM's performance in crowded and occluded scenes with the cost of few learnable parameters and minimal labeled images. We introduce an efficient prompt sampler (EPS) and a part-whole discrimination network (PWD-Net), enhancing mask selection and accuracy in crowded scenes. Despite its simplicity, Crowd-SAM rivals state-of-the-art (SOTA) fully-supervised object detection methods on several benchmarks including CrowdHuman and CityPersons. Our code is available at https://github.com/FelixCaae/CrowdSAM.

DDPG based on multi-scale strokes for financial time series trading strategyJun-Cheng Chen, Cong-Xiao Chen, Li-Juan Duan et al.
With the development of artificial intelligence, more and more financial practitioners apply deep reinforcement learning to financial trading strategies. However,It is difficult to extract accurate features due to the characteristics of considerable noise, highly non-stationary,and non-linearity of single-scale time series, which makes it hard to obtain high returns. In this paper,we extract a multi-scale feature matrix on multiple time scales of financial time series, according to the classic financial theory-Chan Theory, and put forward to an approach of multi-scale stroke deep deterministic policy gradient reinforcement learning model(MSSDDPG)to search for the optimal trading strategy. We carried out experiments on the datasets of the Dow Jones,S&P 500 of U.S. stocks, and China's CSI 300,SSE Composite, evaluate the performance of our approach compared with turtle trading strategy, Deep Q-learning(DQN)reinforcement learning strategy, and deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) reinforcement learning strategy. The result shows that our approach gets the best performance in China CSI 300,SSE Composite, and get an outstanding result in Dow Jones,S&P 500 of U.S.

Centerness-based Instance-aware Knowledge Distillation with Task-wise Mutual Lifting for Object Detection on Drone ImageryBowei Du, Zhixuan Liao, Yanan Zhang et al.
Developing accurate and efficient detectors for drone imagery is challenging due to the inherent complexity of aerial scenes. While some existing methods aim to achieve high accuracy by utilizing larger models, their computational cost is prohibitive for drones. Recently, Knowledge Distillation (KD) has shown promising potential for maintaining satisfactory accuracy while significantly compressing models in general object detection. Considering the advantages of KD, this paper presents the first attempt to adapt it to object detection on drone imagery and addresses two intrinsic issues: (1) low foreground-background ratio and (2) small instances and complex backgrounds, which lead to inadequate training, resulting insufficient distillation. Therefore, we propose a task-wise Lightweight Mutual Lifting (Light-ML) module with a Centerness-based Instance-aware Distillation (CID) strategy. The Light-ML module mutually harmonizes the classification and localization branches by channel shuffling and convolution, integrating teacher supervision across different tasks during back-propagation, thus facilitating training the student model. The CID strategy extracts valuable regions surrounding instances through the centerness of proposals, enhancing distillation efficacy. Experiments on the VisDrone, UAVDT, and COCO benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed approach promotes the accuracies of existing state-of-the-art KD methods with comparable computational requirements. Codes will be available upon acceptance.
