3D Weakly Supervised Semantic Segmentation with 2D Vision-Language Guidance

Xiaoxu Xu, Yitian Yuan, Jinlong Li et al.

In this paper, we propose 3DSS-VLG, a weakly supervised approach for 3D Semantic Segmentation with 2D Vision-Language Guidance, an alternative approach that a 3D model predicts dense-embedding for each point which is co-embedded with both the aligned image and text spaces from the 2D vision-language model. Specifically, our method exploits the superior generalization ability of the 2D vision-language models and proposes the Embeddings Soft-Guidance Stage to utilize it to implicitly align 3D embeddings and text embeddings. Moreover, we introduce the Embeddings Specialization Stage to purify the feature representation with the help of a given scene-level label, specifying a better feature supervised by the corresponding text embedding. Thus, the 3D model is able to gain informative supervisions both from the image embedding and text embedding, leading to competitive segmentation performances. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to investigate 3D weakly supervised semantic segmentation by using the textual semantic information of text category labels. Moreover, with extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments, we present that our 3DSS-VLG is able not only to achieve the state-of-the-art performance on both S3DIS and ScanNet datasets, but also to maintain strong generalization capability.

Learning Compact Vision Tokens for Efficient Large Multimodal Models

Hao Tang, Chengchao Shen

Large multimodal models (LMMs) suffer significant computational challenges due to the high cost of Large Language Models (LLMs) and the quadratic complexity of processing long vision token sequences. In this paper, we explore the spatial redundancy among vision tokens and shorten the length of vision token sequences for inference acceleration. Specifically, we propose a Spatial Token Fusion (STF) method to learn compact vision tokens for short vision token sequence, where spatial-adjacent tokens are fused into one. Meanwhile, weight-frozen vision encoder can not well adapt to the demand of extensive downstream vision-language tasks. To this end, we further introduce a Multi-Block Token Fusion (MBTF) module to supplement multi-granularity features for the reduced token sequence. Overall, we combine STF and MBTF module to balance token reduction and information preservation, thereby improving inference efficiency without sacrificing multimodal reasoning capabilities. Experimental results demonstrate that our method based on LLaVA-1.5 achieves comparable or even superior performance to the baseline on 8 popular vision-language benchmarks with only $25\%$ vision tokens of baseline. Cabbage: A Differential Growth Framework for Open Surfaces

Xiaoyi Liu, Hao Tang

We propose Cabbage, a differential growth framework to model buckling behavior in 3D open surfaces found in nature-like the curling of flower petals. Cabbage creates high-quality triangular meshes free of self-intersection. Cabbage-Shell is driven by edge subdivision which differentially increases discretization resolution. Shell forces expands the surface, generating buckling over time. Feature-aware smoothing and remeshing ensures mesh quality. Corrective collision effectively prevents self-collision even in tight spaces. We additionally provide Cabbage-Collision, and approximate alternative, followed by CAD-ready surface generation. Cabbage is the first open-source effort with this calibre and robustness, outperforming SOTA methods in its morphological expressiveness, mesh quality, and stably generates large, complex patterns over hundreds of simulation steps. It is a source not only of computational modeling, digital fabrication, education, but also high-quality, annotated data for geometry processing and shape analysis.

FOD-Diff: 3D Multi-Channel Patch Diffusion Model for Fiber Orientation Distribution

Hao Tang, Hanyu Liu, Alessandro Perelli et al.

Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is a critical non-invasive technique to estimate fiber orientation distribution (FOD) for characterizing white matter integrity. Estimating FOD from single-shell low angular resolution dMRI (LAR-FOD) is limited by accuracy, whereas estimating FOD from multi-shell high angular resolution dMRI (HAR-FOD) requires a long scanning time, which limits its applicability. Diffusion models have shown promise in estimating HAR-FOD based on LAR-FOD. However, using diffusion models to efficiently generate HAR-FOD is challenging due to the large number of spherical harmonic (SH) coefficients in FOD. Here, we propose a 3D multi-channel patch diffusion model to predict HAR-FOD from LAR-FOD. We design the FOD-patch adapter by introducing the prior brain anatomy for more efficient patch-based learning. Furthermore, we introduce a voxel-level conditional coordinating module to enhance the global understanding of the model. We design the SH attention module to effectively learn the complex correlations of the SH coefficients. Our experimental results show that our method achieves the best performance in HAR-FOD prediction and outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.

StableGarment: Garment-Centric Generation via Stable Diffusion

Rui Wang, Hailong Guo, Jiaming Liu et al.

In this paper, we introduce StableGarment, a unified framework to tackle garment-centric(GC) generation tasks, including GC text-to-image, controllable GC text-to-image, stylized GC text-to-image, and robust virtual try-on. The main challenge lies in retaining the intricate textures of the garment while maintaining the flexibility of pre-trained Stable Diffusion. Our solution involves the development of a garment encoder, a trainable copy of the denoising UNet equipped with additive self-attention (ASA) layers. These ASA layers are specifically devised to transfer detailed garment textures, also facilitating the integration of stylized base models for the creation of stylized images. Furthermore, the incorporation of a dedicated try-on ControlNet enables StableGarment to execute virtual try-on tasks with precision. We also build a novel data engine that produces high-quality synthesized data to preserve the model's ability to follow prompts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach delivers state-of-the-art (SOTA) results among existing virtual try-on methods and exhibits high flexibility with broad potential applications in various garment-centric image generation.
