A Lightweight and Detector-free 3D Single Object Tracker on Point CloudsYan Xia, Qiangqiang Wu, Wei Li et al.
Recent works on 3D single object tracking treat the task as a target-specific 3D detection task, where an off-the-shelf 3D detector is commonly employed for the tracking. However, it is non-trivial to perform accurate target-specific detection since the point cloud of objects in raw LiDAR scans is usually sparse and incomplete. In this paper, we address this issue by explicitly leveraging temporal motion cues and propose DMT, a Detector-free Motion-prediction-based 3D Tracking network that completely removes the usage of complicated 3D detectors and is lighter, faster, and more accurate than previous trackers. Specifically, the motion prediction module is first introduced to estimate a potential target center of the current frame in a point-cloud-free manner. Then, an explicit voting module is proposed to directly regress the 3D box from the estimated target center. Extensive experiments on KITTI and NuScenes datasets demonstrate that our DMT can still achieve better performance (~10% improvement over the NuScenes dataset) and a faster tracking speed (i.e., 72 FPS) than state-of-the-art approaches without applying any complicated 3D detectors. Cross-modal Prompts: Adapting Large Pre-trained Models for Audio-Visual Downstream TasksHaoyi Duan, Yan Xia, Mingze Zhou et al. · stanford
In recent years, the deployment of large-scale pre-trained models in audio-visual downstream tasks has yielded remarkable outcomes. However, these models, primarily trained on single-modality unconstrained datasets, still encounter challenges in feature extraction for multi-modal tasks, leading to suboptimal performance. This limitation arises due to the introduction of irrelevant modality-specific information during encoding, which adversely affects the performance of downstream tasks. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a novel Dual-Guided Spatial-Channel-Temporal (DG-SCT) attention mechanism. This mechanism leverages audio and visual modalities as soft prompts to dynamically adjust the parameters of pre-trained models based on the current multi-modal input features. Specifically, the DG-SCT module incorporates trainable cross-modal interaction layers into pre-trained audio-visual encoders, allowing adaptive extraction of crucial information from the current modality across spatial, channel, and temporal dimensions, while preserving the frozen parameters of large-scale pre-trained models. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that our proposed model achieves state-of-the-art results across multiple downstream tasks, including AVE, AVVP, AVS, and AVQA. Extensible Prompts for Language Models on Zero-shot Language Style CustomizationTao Ge, Jing Hu, Li Dong et al. · microsoft-research
We propose eXtensible Prompt (X-Prompt) for prompting a large language model (LLM) beyond natural language (NL). X-Prompt instructs an LLM with not only NL but also an extensible vocabulary of imaginary words. Registering new imaginary words allows us to instruct the LLM to comprehend concepts that are difficult to describe with NL words, thereby making a prompt more descriptive. Also, these imaginary words are designed to be out-of-distribution (OOD) robust so that they can be (re)used like NL words in various prompts, distinguishing X-Prompt from soft prompt that is for fitting in-distribution data. We propose context-augmented learning (CAL) to learn imaginary words for general usability, enabling them to work properly in OOD (unseen) prompts. We experiment X-Prompt for zero-shot language style customization as a case study. The promising results of X-Prompt demonstrate its potential to facilitate advanced interaction beyond the natural language interface, bridging the communication gap between humans and LLMs.

World-Grounded Human Motion Recovery via Gravity-View CoordinatesZehong Shen, Huaijin Pi, Yan Xia et al.
We present a novel method for recovering world-grounded human motion from monocular video. The main challenge lies in the ambiguity of defining the world coordinate system, which varies between sequences. Previous approaches attempt to alleviate this issue by predicting relative motion in an autoregressive manner, but are prone to accumulating errors. Instead, we propose estimating human poses in a novel Gravity-View (GV) coordinate system, which is defined by the world gravity and the camera view direction. The proposed GV system is naturally gravity-aligned and uniquely defined for each video frame, largely reducing the ambiguity of learning image-pose mapping. The estimated poses can be transformed back to the world coordinate system using camera rotations, forming a global motion sequence. Additionally, the per-frame estimation avoids error accumulation in the autoregressive methods. Experiments on in-the-wild benchmarks demonstrate that our method recovers more realistic motion in both the camera space and world-grounded settings, outperforming state-of-the-art methods in both accuracy and speed. CASSPR: Cross Attention Single Scan Place RecognitionYan Xia, Mariia Gladkova, Rui Wang et al.
Place recognition based on point clouds (LiDAR) is an important component for autonomous robots or self-driving vehicles. Current SOTA performance is achieved on accumulated LiDAR submaps using either point-based or voxel-based structures. While voxel-based approaches nicely integrate spatial context across multiple scales, they do not exhibit the local precision of point-based methods. As a result, existing methods struggle with fine-grained matching of subtle geometric features in sparse single-shot Li- DAR scans. To overcome these limitations, we propose CASSPR as a method to fuse point-based and voxel-based approaches using cross attention transformers. CASSPR leverages a sparse voxel branch for extracting and aggregating information at lower resolution and a point-wise branch for obtaining fine-grained local information. CASSPR uses queries from one branch to try to match structures in the other branch, ensuring that both extract self-contained descriptors of the point cloud (rather than one branch dominating), but using both to inform the output global descriptor of the point cloud. Extensive experiments show that CASSPR surpasses the state-of-the-art by a large margin on several datasets (Oxford RobotCar, TUM, USyd). For instance, it achieves AR@1 of 85.6% on the TUM dataset, surpassing the strongest prior model by ~15%. Our code is publicly available.

Low-code LLM: Graphical User Interface over Large Language ModelsYuzhe Cai, Shaoguang Mao, Wenshan Wu et al.
Utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) for complex tasks is challenging, often involving a time-consuming and uncontrollable prompt engineering process. This paper introduces a novel human-LLM interaction framework, Low-code LLM. It incorporates six types of simple low-code visual programming interactions to achieve more controllable and stable responses. Through visual interaction with a graphical user interface, users can incorporate their ideas into the process without writing trivial prompts. The proposed Low-code LLM framework consists of a Planning LLM that designs a structured planning workflow for complex tasks, which can be correspondingly edited and confirmed by users through low-code visual programming operations, and an Executing LLM that generates responses following the user-confirmed workflow. We highlight three advantages of the low-code LLM: user-friendly interaction, controllable generation, and wide applicability. We demonstrate its benefits using four typical applications. By introducing this framework, we aim to bridge the gap between humans and LLMs, enabling more effective and efficient utilization of LLMs for complex tasks. ALYMPICS: LLM Agents Meet Game Theory -- Exploring Strategic Decision-Making with AI AgentsShaoguang Mao, Yuzhe Cai, Yan Xia et al.
This paper introduces Alympics (Olympics for Agents), a systematic simulation framework utilizing Large Language Model (LLM) agents for game theory research. Alympics creates a versatile platform for studying complex game theory problems, bridging the gap between theoretical game theory and empirical investigations by providing a controlled environment for simulating human-like strategic interactions with LLM agents. In our pilot case study, the "Water Allocation Challenge," we explore Alympics through a challenging strategic game focused on the multi-round auction on scarce survival resources. This study demonstrates the framework's ability to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze game determinants, strategies, and outcomes. Additionally, we conduct a comprehensive human assessment and an in-depth evaluation of LLM agents in strategic decision-making scenarios. Our findings not only expand the understanding of LLM agents' proficiency in emulating human strategic behavior but also highlight their potential in advancing game theory knowledge, thereby enriching our understanding of both game theory and empowering further research into strategic decision-making domains with LLM agents. DynFrame: Adaptive Reasoning-Driven Multimodal Framework with Dynamic Frame Augmentation for Complex Video UnderstandingPeng Zhang, Guanghao Zhang, Wanggui He et al.
Recent video multimodal large language models (MLLMs) increasingly couple step-by-step reasoning with on-demand visual evidence retrieval, allowing models to revisit relevant video segments during inference. However, two structural gaps remain in existing thinking-with-video systems. (i) Sampling density is not a learnable decision: existing methods may let the model decide where to look, but the per-window frame rate is largely fixed. As a result, fine-grained evidence is often recovered through repeated retrieval calls, which increases inference context length and training difficulty. (ii) Retrieval and answer generation are usually optimized with a single trajectory-level advantage, so the "where to look" tokens and the "how to answer" tokens receive the same credit even when one is correct and the other is not. To address these gaps, we present DynFrame, a framework that emits the temporal window and the sampling density as native tokens within a single autoregressive pass. This learnable span-density retrieval enables acquiring multi-granularity evidence with a single retrieval step. Based on the above tokenized retrieval interface, we further introduce Segment-Decoupled GRPO (SD-GRPO), which splits each rollout at the retrieval boundary and assigns role-specific token-level advantages, separately crediting the sampling decision and the answer. Trained on the curated DM-CoT-74k and DM-RL-45k, DynFrame-4B is competitive with strong 7B-8B baselines across six benchmarks (NExT-GQA, Charades-STA, ActivityNet-MR, Video-MME, MLVU, LVBench), and DynFrame-8B sets new state-of-the-art on most metrics. Temporal Fact Reasoning over Hyper-Relational Knowledge GraphsZifeng Ding, Jingcheng Wu, Jingpei Wu et al.
Stemming from traditional knowledge graphs (KGs), hyper-relational KGs (HKGs) provide additional key-value pairs (i.e., qualifiers) for each KG fact that help to better restrict the fact validity. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in studying graph reasoning over HKGs. Meanwhile, as discussed in recent works that focus on temporal KGs (TKGs), world knowledge is ever-evolving, making it important to reason over temporal facts in KGs. Previous mainstream benchmark HKGs do not explicitly specify temporal information for each HKG fact. Therefore, almost all existing HKG reasoning approaches do not devise any module specifically for temporal reasoning. To better study temporal fact reasoning over HKGs, we propose a new type of data structure named hyper-relational TKG (HTKG). Every fact in an HTKG is coupled with a timestamp explicitly indicating its time validity. We develop two new benchmark HTKG datasets, i.e., Wiki-hy and YAGO-hy, and propose an HTKG reasoning model that efficiently models hyper-relational temporal facts. To support future research on this topic, we open-source our datasets and model.

They Are Not the Same: Direct Causes Are Not Grounded Emotion ExplanationsZhuangzhuang Pan, Yan Xia, Chee Seng Chan
Emotion-Cause Pair Extraction (ECPE) was introduced to explain why an emotion occurs, but this goal is now often reduced to binary pair/non-pair prediction. This proxy is useful for direct-cause extraction, yet easy to over-read as evidence grounded emotion explanation. We show that this interpretation is only partially valid. In IEMO-MECP, 90.9% of original positives remain emo-cause and 95.0% of original negatives remain non-pair, confirming that the binary ECPE task is largely preserved. The problem is that direct triggers alone do not constitute a grounded explanation. Emo-context, an utterance that helps interpret a target emotion without directly causing it, appears on both sides of the original boundary and is enriched near binary uncertainty, showing that the binary boundary has no stable place for such discourse evidence. Across evaluated ECPE models, direct triggers are recovered more reliably than contextual support. Under shortcut pressure, this imbalance becomes consequential. Binary-trained models assign higher pair scores to nearby lexically similar non-pair candidates than to evidence supported but structurally harder emo-cause and emo-context pairs. Thus, pair scores can reward convenient attributions over grounded explanations. High binary ECPE performance indicates that a model can identify direct triggers; it does not indicate that the model has explained the emotion. TaskMatrix.AI: Completing Tasks by Connecting Foundation Models with Millions of APIsYaobo Liang, Chenfei Wu, Ting Song et al.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made incredible progress recently. On the one hand, advanced foundation models like ChatGPT can offer powerful conversation, in-context learning and code generation abilities on a broad range of open-domain tasks. They can also generate high-level solution outlines for domain-specific tasks based on the common sense knowledge they have acquired. However, they still face difficulties with some specialized tasks because they lack enough domain-specific data during pre-training or they often have errors in their neural network computations on those tasks that need accurate executions. On the other hand, there are also many existing models and systems (symbolic-based or neural-based) that can do some domain-specific tasks very well. However, due to the different implementation or working mechanisms, they are not easily accessible or compatible with foundation models. Therefore, there is a clear and pressing need for a mechanism that can leverage foundation models to propose task solution outlines and then automatically match some of the sub-tasks in the outlines to the off-the-shelf models and systems with special functionalities to complete them. Inspired by this, we introduce TaskMatrix.AI as a new AI ecosystem that connects foundation models with millions of APIs for task completion. Unlike most previous work that aimed to improve a single AI model, TaskMatrix.AI focuses more on using existing foundation models (as a brain-like central system) and APIs of other AI models and systems (as sub-task solvers) to achieve diversified tasks in both digital and physical domains. As a position paper, we will present our vision of how to build such an ecosystem, explain each key component, and use study cases to illustrate both the feasibility of this vision and the main challenges we need to address next.

Embracing Events and Frames with Hierarchical Feature Refinement Network for Object DetectionHu Cao, Zehua Zhang, Yan Xia et al.
In frame-based vision, object detection faces substantial performance degradation under challenging conditions due to the limited sensing capability of conventional cameras. Event cameras output sparse and asynchronous events, providing a potential solution to solve these problems. However, effectively fusing two heterogeneous modalities remains an open issue. In this work, we propose a novel hierarchical feature refinement network for event-frame fusion. The core concept is the design of the coarse-to-fine fusion module, denoted as the cross-modality adaptive feature refinement (CAFR) module. In the initial phase, the bidirectional cross-modality interaction (BCI) part facilitates information bridging from two distinct sources. Subsequently, the features are further refined by aligning the channel-level mean and variance in the two-fold adaptive feature refinement (TAFR) part. We conducted extensive experiments on two benchmarks: the low-resolution PKU-DDD17-Car dataset and the high-resolution DSEC dataset. Experimental results show that our method surpasses the state-of-the-art by an impressive margin of $\textbf{8.0}\%$ on the DSEC dataset. Besides, our method exhibits significantly better robustness (\textbf{69.5}\% versus \textbf{38.7}\%) when introducing 15 different corruption types to the frame images. Joint segmentation and discontinuity-preserving deformable registration: Application to cardiac cine-MR imagesXiang Chen, Yan Xia, Nishant Ravikumar et al.
Medical image registration is a challenging task involving the estimation of spatial transformations to establish anatomical correspondence between pairs or groups of images. Recently, deep learning-based image registration methods have been widely explored, and demonstrated to enable fast and accurate image registration in a variety of applications. However, most deep learning-based registration methods assume that the deformation fields are smooth and continuous everywhere in the image domain, which is not always true, especially when registering images whose fields of view contain discontinuities at tissue/organ boundaries. In such scenarios, enforcing smooth, globally continuous deformation fields leads to incorrect/implausible registration results. We propose a novel discontinuity-preserving image registration method to tackle this challenge, which ensures globally discontinuous and locally smooth deformation fields, leading to more accurate and realistic registration results. The proposed method leverages the complementary nature of image segmentation and registration and enables joint segmentation and pair-wise registration of images. A co-attention block is proposed in the segmentation component of the network to learn the structural correlations in the input images, while a discontinuity-preserving registration strategy is employed in the registration component of the network to ensure plausibility in the estimated deformation fields at tissue/organ interfaces. We evaluate our method on the task of intra-subject spatio-temporal image registration using large-scale cinematic cardiac magnetic resonance image sequences, and demonstrate that our method achieves significant improvements over the state-of-the-art for medical image registration, and produces high-quality segmentation masks for the regions of interest.

Adaptive Semi-Supervised Segmentation of Brain Vessels with Ambiguous LabelsFengming Lin, Yan Xia, Nishant Ravikumar et al.
Accurate segmentation of brain vessels is crucial for cerebrovascular disease diagnosis and treatment. However, existing methods face challenges in capturing small vessels and handling datasets that are partially or ambiguously annotated. In this paper, we propose an adaptive semi-supervised approach to address these challenges. Our approach incorporates innovative techniques including progressive semi-supervised learning, adaptative training strategy, and boundary enhancement. Experimental results on 3DRA datasets demonstrate the superiority of our method in terms of mesh-based segmentation metrics. By leveraging the partially and ambiguously labeled data, which only annotates the main vessels, our method achieves impressive segmentation performance on mislabeled fine vessels, showcasing its potential for clinical applications.

Single-Pass, Depth-Selective Reading for Multi-Aspect Sentiment AnalysisYan Xia, Zhuangzhuang Pan, Amirrudin Kamsin et al.
Aspect-Term Sentiment Analysis (ATSA) in multi-aspect sentences faces a fundamental tradeoff between efficiency and expressiveness. Existing models either re-encode the sentence for each aspect or rely on static use of deep representations, leading to redundant computation and limited adaptivity. We argue that Transformer depth is a costly, queryable resource, and propose DABS, a single-pass inference framework that encodes each sentence once to construct a reusable, depth-ordered substrate. Each aspect then queries this shared representation to selectively read relevant tokens and abstraction levels, without re-encoding. This decouples shared sentence encoding from lightweight, aspect-conditioned readout. Experiments on four ATSA benchmarks show that DABS achieves competitive performance while reducing end-to-end computation by up to 60% in multi-aspect settings (M >= 2). Further analyses indicate that adaptive depth querying is most beneficial for linguistically complex cases such as negation and contrast. L4DR: LiDAR-4DRadar Fusion for Weather-Robust 3D Object DetectionXun Huang, Ziyu Xu, Hai Wu et al.
LiDAR-based vision systems are integral for 3D object detection, which is crucial for autonomous navigation. However, they suffer from performance degradation in adverse weather conditions due to the quality deterioration of LiDAR point clouds. Fusing LiDAR with the weather-robust 4D radar sensor is expected to solve this problem. However, the fusion of LiDAR and 4D radar is challenging because they differ significantly in terms of data quality and the degree of degradation in adverse weather. To address these issues, we introduce L4DR, a weather-robust 3D object detection method that effectively achieves LiDAR and 4D Radar fusion. Our L4DR includes Multi-Modal Encoding (MME) and Foreground-Aware Denoising (FAD) technique to reconcile sensor gaps, which is the first exploration of the complementarity of early fusion between LiDAR and 4D radar. Additionally, we design an Inter-Modal and Intra-Modal ({IM}2 ) parallel feature extraction backbone coupled with a Multi-Scale Gated Fusion (MSGF) module to counteract the varying degrees of sensor degradation under adverse weather conditions. Experimental evaluation on a VoD dataset with simulated fog proves that L4DR is more adaptable to changing weather conditions. It delivers a significant performance increase under different fog levels, improving the 3D mAP by up to 20.0% over the traditional LiDAR-only approach. Moreover, the results on the K-Radar dataset validate the consistent performance improvement of L4DR in real-world adverse weather conditions.

Unsupervised ensemble-based phenotyping helps enhance the discoverability of genes related to heart morphologyRodrigo Bonazzola, Enzo Ferrante, Nishant Ravikumar et al.
Recent genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have been successful in identifying associations between genetic variants and simple cardiac parameters derived from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images. However, the emergence of big databases including genetic data linked to CMR, facilitates investigation of more nuanced patterns of shape variability. Here, we propose a new framework for gene discovery entitled Unsupervised Phenotype Ensembles (UPE). UPE builds a redundant yet highly expressive representation by pooling a set of phenotypes learned in an unsupervised manner, using deep learning models trained with different hyperparameters. These phenotypes are then analyzed via (GWAS), retaining only highly confident and stable associations across the ensemble. We apply our approach to the UK Biobank database to extract left-ventricular (LV) geometric features from image-derived three-dimensional meshes. We demonstrate that our approach greatly improves the discoverability of genes influencing LV shape, identifying 11 loci with study-wide significance and 8 with suggestive significance. We argue that our approach would enable more extensive discovery of gene associations with image-derived phenotypes for other organs or image modalities.

Video-Guided Curriculum Learning for Spoken Video GroundingYan Xia, Zhou Zhao, Shangwei Ye et al.
In this paper, we introduce a new task, spoken video grounding (SVG), which aims to localize the desired video fragments from spoken language descriptions. Compared with using text, employing audio requires the model to directly exploit the useful phonemes and syllables related to the video from raw speech. Moreover, we randomly add environmental noises to this speech audio, further increasing the difficulty of this task and better simulating real applications. To rectify the discriminative phonemes and extract video-related information from noisy audio, we develop a novel video-guided curriculum learning (VGCL) during the audio pre-training process, which can make use of the vital visual perceptions to help understand the spoken language and suppress the external noise. Considering during inference the model can not obtain ground truth video segments, we design a curriculum strategy that gradually shifts the input video from the ground truth to the entire video content during pre-training. Finally, the model can learn how to extract critical visual information from the entire video clip to help understand the spoken language. In addition, we collect the first large-scale spoken video grounding dataset based on ActivityNet, which is named as ActivityNet Speech dataset. Extensive experiments demonstrate our proposed video-guided curriculum learning can facilitate the pre-training process to obtain a mutual audio encoder, significantly promoting the performance of spoken video grounding tasks. Moreover, we prove that in the case of noisy sound, our model outperforms the method that grounding video with ASR transcripts, further demonstrating the effectiveness of our curriculum strategy.

Multi-view Hybrid Graph Convolutional Network for Volume-to-mesh Reconstruction in Cardiovascular MRINicolás Gaggion, Benjamin A. Matheson, Yan Xia et al.
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging is emerging as a crucial tool to examine cardiac morphology and function. Essential to this endeavour are anatomical 3D surface and volumetric meshes derived from CMR images, which facilitate computational anatomy studies, biomarker discovery, and in-silico simulations. Traditional approaches typically follow complex multi-step pipelines, first segmenting images and then reconstructing meshes, making them time-consuming and prone to error propagation. In response, we introduce HybridVNet, a novel architecture for direct image-to-mesh extraction seamlessly integrating standard convolutional neural networks with graph convolutions, which we prove can efficiently handle surface and volumetric meshes by encoding them as graph structures. To further enhance accuracy, we propose a multi-view HybridVNet architecture which processes both long axis and short axis CMR, showing that it can increase the performance of cardiac MR mesh generation. Our model combines traditional convolutional networks with variational graph generative models, deep supervision and mesh-specific regularisation. Experiments on a comprehensive dataset from the UK Biobank confirm the potential of HybridVNet to significantly advance cardiac imaging and computational cardiology by efficiently generating high-fidelity meshes from CMR images. Multi-view HybridVNet outperforms the state-of-the-art, achieving improvements of up to $\sim$27\% reduction in Mean Contour Distance (from 1.86 mm to 1.35 mm for the LV Myocardium), up to $\sim$18\% improvement in Hausdorff distance (from 4.74 mm to 3.89mm, for the LV Endocardium), and up to $\sim$8\% in Dice Coefficient (from 0.78 to 0.84, for the LV Myocardium), highlighting its superior accuracy.

Learned Local Attention Maps for Synthesising Vessel SegmentationsYash Deo, Rodrigo Bonazzola, Haoran Dou et al.
Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is an imaging modality for visualising blood vessels. It is useful for several diagnostic applications and for assessing the risk of adverse events such as haemorrhagic stroke (resulting from the rupture of aneurysms in blood vessels). However, MRAs are not acquired routinely, hence, an approach to synthesise blood vessel segmentations from more routinely acquired MR contrasts such as T1 and T2, would be useful. We present an encoder-decoder model for synthesising segmentations of the main cerebral arteries in the circle of Willis (CoW) from only T2 MRI. We propose a two-phase multi-objective learning approach, which captures both global and local features. It uses learned local attention maps generated by dilating the segmentation labels, which forces the network to only extract information from the T2 MRI relevant to synthesising the CoW. Our synthetic vessel segmentations generated from only T2 MRI achieved a mean Dice score of $0.79 \pm 0.03$ in testing, compared to state-of-the-art segmentation networks such as transformer U-Net ($0.71 \pm 0.04$) and nnU-net($0.68 \pm 0.05$), while using only a fraction of the parameters. The main qualitative difference between our synthetic vessel segmentations and the comparative models was in the sharper resolution of the CoW vessel segments, especially in the posterior circulation.

Text2Loc: 3D Point Cloud Localization from Natural LanguageYan Xia, Letian Shi, Zifeng Ding et al.
We tackle the problem of 3D point cloud localization based on a few natural linguistic descriptions and introduce a novel neural network, Text2Loc, that fully interprets the semantic relationship between points and text. Text2Loc follows a coarse-to-fine localization pipeline: text-submap global place recognition, followed by fine localization. In global place recognition, relational dynamics among each textual hint are captured in a hierarchical transformer with max-pooling (HTM), whereas a balance between positive and negative pairs is maintained using text-submap contrastive learning. Moreover, we propose a novel matching-free fine localization method to further refine the location predictions, which completely removes the need for complicated text-instance matching and is lighter, faster, and more accurate than previous methods. Extensive experiments show that Text2Loc improves the localization accuracy by up to $2\times$ over the state-of-the-art on the KITTI360Pose dataset. EIPE-text: Evaluation-Guided Iterative Plan Extraction for Long-Form Narrative Text GenerationWang You, Wenshan Wu, Yaobo Liang et al.
Plan-and-Write is a common hierarchical approach in long-form narrative text generation, which first creates a plan to guide the narrative writing. Following this approach, several studies rely on simply prompting large language models for planning, which often yields suboptimal results. In this paper, we propose a new framework called Evaluation-guided Iterative Plan Extraction for long-form narrative text generation (EIPE-text), which extracts plans from the corpus of narratives and utilizes the extracted plans to construct a better planner. EIPE-text has three stages: plan extraction, learning, and inference. In the plan extraction stage, it iteratively extracts and improves plans from the narrative corpus and constructs a plan corpus. We propose a question answer (QA) based evaluation mechanism to automatically evaluate the plans and generate detailed plan refinement instructions to guide the iterative improvement. In the learning stage, we build a better planner by fine-tuning with the plan corpus or in-context learning with examples in the plan corpus. Finally, we leverage a hierarchical approach to generate long-form narratives. We evaluate the effectiveness of EIPE-text in the domains of novels and storytelling. Both GPT-4-based evaluations and human evaluations demonstrate that our method can generate more coherent and relevant long-form narratives. Our code will be released in the future.

Natural Human Motion Recovery by Aligning High-Order Temporal Dynamics from Monocular VideosDingkun Wei, Zehong Shen, Yan Xia et al.
Human motion recovered from monocular videos often appears overly smooth or dynamically inconsistent, even when joint positions are numerically accurate. We observe that this limitation stems from the absence of reliable high-order temporal cues -- velocity and acceleration -- which are essential for reconstructing motion that exhibits realistic momentum, timing, and high-frequency detail. We introduce HTD-Refine, a post-processing framework that augments existing Human Motion Recovery (HMR) pipelines using explicitly estimated high-order temporal dynamics. At the core of our system is PVA-Net, a temporal transformer that infers per-joint 2D positions, 3D velocities, and 3D accelerations directly from a monocular video. These predicted dynamics serve as soft yet informative constraints in a global optimization procedure that refines world-space trajectories, significantly reducing jitter, suppressing over-smoothing, and restoring physically plausible motion. Extensive experiments on challenging in-the-wild benchmarks show that HTD-Refine consistently improves state-of-the-art HMR methods, yielding more accurate global trajectories and substantially more natural motion dynamics. Our results highlight the critical role of high-order temporal modeling in advancing monocular human motion recovery.

ScribbleDose: Scribble-Guided Dose Prediction in RadiotherapyZhenxi Zhang, Yitao Zhuang, Yao Pu et al.
Anatomical structure masks are widely adopted in radiotherapy dose prediction, as they provide explicit geometric constraints that facilitate structure-dose coupling. However, conventional manual delineation of these masks requires precise annotation of structure boundaries relevant to radiotherapy, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. To address these limitations, we propose a scribble-guided dose prediction framework that relies solely on anatomical structures annotated with sparse scribbles. Specifically, we design a Scribble Completion Module (SCM) to generate dense anatomical masks by propagating sparse scribble labels to semantically similar voxels. During the propagation process, a supervoxel-based regularization is introduced to preserve geometric boundary consistency to ensure anatomical plausibility. Furthermore, we propose a Structure-Guided Dose Generation Module (SGDGM) to strengthen the correspondence between sparse structural cues and dose distribution. The completed dense masks derived from scribbles serve as structural guidance to condition dose prediction, forming a scribble-mask-dose learning pipeline under sparse annotation. Experiments on the GDP-HMM dataset demonstrate that ScribbleDose achieves competitive dose prediction performance using only sparse structural annotations. TOL: Textual Localization with OpenStreetMapYouqi Liao, Shuhao Kang, Jingyu Xu et al.
Natural language provides an intuitive way to express spatial intent in geospatial applications. While existing localization methods often rely on dense point cloud maps or high-resolution imagery, OpenStreetMap (OSM) offers a compact and freely available map representation that encodes rich semantic and structural information, making it well suited for large-scale localization. However, text-to-OSM (T2O) localization remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we formulate the T2O global localization task, which aims to estimate accurate 2 degree-of-freedom (DoF) positions in urban environments from textual scene descriptions without relying on geometric observations or GNSS-based initial location. To support the proposed task, we introduce TOL, a large-scale benchmark spanning multiple continents and diverse urban environments. TOL contains approximately 121K textual queries paired with OSM map tiles and covers about 316 km of road trajectories across Boston, Karlsruhe, and Singapore. We further propose TOLoc, a coarse-to-fine localization framework that explicitly models the semantics of surrounding objects and their directional information. In the coarse stage, direction-aware features are extracted from both textual descriptions and OSM tiles to construct global descriptors, which are used to retrieve candidate locations for the query. In the fine stage, the query text and top-1 retrieved tile are jointly processed, where a dedicated alignment module fuses textual descriptor and local map features to regress the 2-DoF pose. Experimental results demonstrate that TOLoc achieves strong localization performance, outperforming the best existing method by 6.53%, 9.93%, and 8.31% at 5m, 10m, and 25m thresholds, respectively, and shows strong generalization to unseen environments. This report presents VibeVoice-ASR, a general-purpose speech understanding framework built upon VibeVoice, designed to address the persistent challenges of context fragmentation and multi-speaker complexity in long-form audio (e.g., meetings, podcasts) that remain despite recent advancements in short-form speech recognition. Unlike traditional pipelined approaches that rely on audio chunking, VibeVoice-ASRsupports single-pass processing for up to 60 minutes of audio. It unifies Automatic Speech Recognition, Speaker Diarization, and Timestamping into a single end-to-end generation task. In addition, VibeVoice-ASR supports over 50 languages, requires no explicit language setting, and natively handles code-switching within and across utterances. Furthermore, we introduce a prompt-based context injection mechanism that allows users to supply customized conetxt, significantly improving accuracy on domain-specific terminology and polyphonic character disambiguation.

Assessing Phrase Break of ESL Speech with Pre-trained Language Models and Large Language ModelsZhiyi Wang, Shaoguang Mao, Wenshan Wu et al.
This work introduces approaches to assessing phrase breaks in ESL learners' speech using pre-trained language models (PLMs) and large language models (LLMs). There are two tasks: overall assessment of phrase break for a speech clip and fine-grained assessment of every possible phrase break position. To leverage NLP models, speech input is first force-aligned with texts, and then pre-processed into a token sequence, including words and phrase break information. To utilize PLMs, we propose a pre-training and fine-tuning pipeline with the processed tokens. This process includes pre-training with a replaced break token detection module and fine-tuning with text classification and sequence labeling. To employ LLMs, we design prompts for ChatGPT. The experiments show that with the PLMs, the dependence on labeled training data has been greatly reduced, and the performance has improved. Meanwhile, we verify that ChatGPT, a renowned LLM, has potential for further advancement in this area.

Enhancing Language Model Rationality with Bi-Directional Deliberation ReasoningYadong Zhang, Shaoguang Mao, Wenshan Wu et al.
This paper introduces BI-Directional DEliberation Reasoning (BIDDER), a novel reasoning approach to enhance the decision rationality of language models. Traditional reasoning methods typically rely on historical information and employ uni-directional (left-to-right) reasoning strategy. This lack of bi-directional deliberation reasoning results in limited awareness of potential future outcomes and insufficient integration of historical context, leading to suboptimal decisions. BIDDER addresses this gap by incorporating principles of rational decision-making, specifically managing uncertainty and predicting expected utility. Our approach involves three key processes: Inferring hidden states to represent uncertain information in the decision-making process from historical data; Using these hidden states to predict future potential states and potential outcomes; Integrating historical information (past contexts) and long-term outcomes (future contexts) to inform reasoning. By leveraging bi-directional reasoning, BIDDER ensures thorough exploration of both past and future contexts, leading to more informed and rational decisions. We tested BIDDER's effectiveness in two well-defined scenarios: Poker (Limit Texas Hold'em) and Negotiation. Our experiments demonstrate that BIDDER significantly improves the decision-making capabilities of LLMs and LLM agents.

AUVIC: Adversarial Unlearning of Visual Concepts for Multi-modal Large Language ModelsHaokun Chen, Jianing Li, Yao Zhang et al.
Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) achieve impressive performance once optimized on massive datasets. Such datasets often contain sensitive or copyrighted content, raising significant data privacy concerns. Regulatory frameworks mandating the 'right to be forgotten' drive the need for machine unlearning. This technique allows for the removal of target data without resource-consuming retraining. However, while well-studied for text, visual concept unlearning in MLLMs remains underexplored. A primary challenge is precisely removing a target visual concept without disrupting model performance on related entities. To address this, we introduce AUVIC, a novel visual concept unlearning framework for MLLMs. AUVIC applies adversarial perturbations to enable precise forgetting. This approach effectively isolates the target concept while avoiding unintended effects on similar entities. To evaluate our method, we construct VCUBench. It is the first benchmark designed to assess visual concept unlearning in group contexts. Experimental results demonstrate that AUVIC achieves state-of-the-art target forgetting rates while incurs minimal performance degradation on non-target concepts.

CERD: A Comprehensive Chinese Rhetoric Dataset for Rhetorical Understanding and Generation in EssaysNuowei Liu, Xinhao Chen, Hongyi Wu et al.
Existing rhetorical understanding and generation datasets or corpora primarily focus on single coarse-grained categories or fine-grained categories, neglecting the common interrelations between different rhetorical devices by treating them as independent sub-tasks. In this paper, we propose the Chinese Essay Rhetoric Dataset (CERD), consisting of 4 commonly used coarse-grained categories including metaphor, personification, hyperbole and parallelism and 23 fine-grained categories across both form and content levels. CERD is a manually annotated and comprehensive Chinese rhetoric dataset with five interrelated sub-tasks. Unlike previous work, our dataset aids in understanding various rhetorical devices, recognizing corresponding rhetorical components, and generating rhetorical sentences under given conditions, thereby improving the author's writing proficiency and language usage skills. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate the interrelations between multiple tasks in CERD, as well as to establish a benchmark for future research on rhetoric. The experimental results indicate that Large Language Models achieve the best performance across most tasks, and jointly fine-tuning with multiple tasks further enhances performance.

We introduce BitNet b1.58 2B4T, the first open-source, native 1-bit Large Language Model (LLM) at the 2-billion parameter scale. Trained on a corpus of 4 trillion tokens, the model has been rigorously evaluated across benchmarks covering language understanding, mathematical reasoning, coding proficiency, and conversational ability. Our results demonstrate that BitNet b1.58 2B4T achieves performance on par with leading open-weight, full-precision LLMs of similar size, while offering significant advantages in computational efficiency, including substantially reduced memory footprint, energy consumption, and decoding latency. To facilitate further research and adoption, the model weights are released via Hugging Face along with open-source inference implementations for both GPU and CPU architectures.

1-bit AI Infra: Part 1.1, Fast and Lossless BitNet b1.58 Inference on CPUsJinheng Wang, Hansong Zhou, Ting Song et al.
Recent advances in 1-bit Large Language Models (LLMs), such as BitNet and BitNet b1.58, present a promising approach to enhancing the efficiency of LLMs in terms of speed and energy consumption. These developments also enable local LLM deployment across a broad range of devices. In this work, we introduce bitnet.cpp, a tailored software stack designed to unlock the full potential of 1-bit LLMs. Specifically, we develop a set of kernels to support fast and lossless inference of ternary BitNet b1.58 LLMs on CPUs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that bitnet.cpp achieves significant speedups, ranging from 2.37x to 6.17x on x86 CPUs and from 1.37x to 5.07x on ARM CPUs, across various model sizes. TARGO: Benchmarking Target-driven Object Grasping under OcclusionsYan Xia, Ran Ding, Ziyuan Qin et al.
Recent advances in predicting 6D grasp poses from a single depth image have led to promising performance in robotic grasping. However, previous grasping models face challenges in cluttered environments where nearby objects impact the target object's grasp. In this paper, we first establish a new benchmark dataset for TARget-driven Grasping under Occlusions, named TARGO. We make the following contributions: 1) We are the first to study the occlusion level of grasping. 2) We set up an evaluation benchmark consisting of large-scale synthetic data and part of real-world data, and we evaluated five grasp models and found that even the current SOTA model suffers when the occlusion level increases, leaving grasping under occlusion still a challenge. 3) We also generate a large-scale training dataset via a scalable pipeline, which can be used to boost the performance of grasping under occlusion and generalized to the real world. 4) We further propose a transformer-based grasping model involving a shape completion module, termed TARGO-Net, which performs most robustly as occlusion increases. This report presents VibeVoice, a novel model designed to synthesize long-form speech with multiple speakers by employing next-token diffusion, which is a unified method for modeling continuous data by autoregressively generating latent vectors via diffusion. To enable this, we introduce a novel continuous speech tokenizer that, when compared to the popular Encodec model, improves data compression by 80 times while maintaining comparable performance. The tokenizer effectively preserves audio fidelity while significantly boosting computational efficiency for processing long sequences. Thus, VibeVoice can synthesize long-form speech for up to 90 minutes (in a 64K context window length) with a maximum of 4 speakers, capturing the authentic conversational ``vibe'' and surpassing open-source and proprietary dialogue models.

Bitnet.cpp: Efficient Edge Inference for Ternary LLMsJinheng Wang, Hansong Zhou, Ting Song et al.
The advent of 1-bit large language models (LLMs), led by BitNet b1.58, has spurred interest in ternary LLMs. Despite this, research and practical applications focusing on efficient edge inference for ternary LLMs remain scarce. To bridge this gap, we introduce Bitnet.cpp, an inference system optimized for BitNet b1.58 and ternary LLMs. Given that mixed-precision matrix multiplication (mpGEMM) constitutes the bulk of inference time in ternary LLMs, Bitnet.cpp incorporates a novel mpGEMM library to facilitate sub-2-bits-per-weight, efficient and lossless inference. The library features two core solutions: Ternary Lookup Table (TL), which addresses spatial inefficiencies of previous bit-wise methods, and Int2 with a Scale (I2_S), which ensures lossless edge inference, both enabling high-speed inference. Our experiments show that Bitnet.cpp achieves up to a 6.25x increase in speed over full-precision baselines and up to 2.32x over low-bit baselines, setting new benchmarks in the field. Additionally, we expand TL to element-wise lookup table (ELUT) for low-bit LLMs in the appendix, presenting both theoretical and empirical evidence of its considerable potential. SCP: Scene Completion Pre-training for 3D Object DetectionYiming Shan, Yan Xia, Yuhong Chen et al.
3D object detection using LiDAR point clouds is a fundamental task in the fields of computer vision, robotics, and autonomous driving. However, existing 3D detectors heavily rely on annotated datasets, which are both time-consuming and prone to errors during the process of labeling 3D bounding boxes. In this paper, we propose a Scene Completion Pre-training (SCP) method to enhance the performance of 3D object detectors with less labeled data. SCP offers three key advantages: (1) Improved initialization of the point cloud model. By completing the scene point clouds, SCP effectively captures the spatial and semantic relationships among objects within urban environments. (2) Elimination of the need for additional datasets. SCP serves as a valuable auxiliary network that does not impose any additional efforts or data requirements on the 3D detectors. (3) Reduction of the amount of labeled data for detection. With the help of SCP, the existing state-of-the-art 3D detectors can achieve comparable performance while only relying on 20% labeled data.

Gap Completion in Point Cloud Scene occluded by Vehicles using SGC-NetYu Feng, Yiming Xu, Yan Xia et al.
Recent advances in mobile mapping systems have greatly enhanced the efficiency and convenience of acquiring urban 3D data. These systems utilize LiDAR sensors mounted on vehicles to capture vast cityscapes. However, a significant challenge arises due to occlusions caused by roadside parked vehicles, leading to the loss of scene information, particularly on the roads, sidewalks, curbs, and the lower sections of buildings. In this study, we present a novel approach that leverages deep neural networks to learn a model capable of filling gaps in urban scenes that are obscured by vehicle occlusion. We have developed an innovative technique where we place virtual vehicle models along road boundaries in the gap-free scene and utilize a ray-casting algorithm to create a new scene with occluded gaps. This allows us to generate diverse and realistic urban point cloud scenes with and without vehicle occlusion, surpassing the limitations of real-world training data collection and annotation. Furthermore, we introduce the Scene Gap Completion Network (SGC-Net), an end-to-end model that can generate well-defined shape boundaries and smooth surfaces within occluded gaps. The experiment results reveal that 97.66% of the filled points fall within a range of 5 centimeters relative to the high-density ground truth point cloud scene. These findings underscore the efficacy of our proposed model in gap completion and reconstructing urban scenes affected by vehicle occlusions.

Enhancing Multimodal Unified Representations for Cross Modal GeneralizationHai Huang, Yan Xia, Shengpeng Ji et al.
To enhance the interpretability of multimodal unified representations, many studies have focused on discrete unified representations. These efforts typically start with contrastive learning and gradually extend to the disentanglement of modal information, achieving solid multimodal discrete unified representations. However, existing research often overlooks two critical issues: 1) The use of Euclidean distance for quantization in discrete representations often overlooks the important distinctions among different dimensions of features, resulting in redundant representations after quantization; 2) Different modalities have unique characteristics, and a uniform alignment approach does not fully exploit these traits. To address these issues, we propose Training-free Optimization of Codebook (TOC) and Fine and Coarse cross-modal Information Disentangling (FCID). These methods refine the unified discrete representations from pretraining and perform fine- and coarse-grained information disentanglement tailored to the specific characteristics of each modality, achieving significant performance improvements over previous state-of-the-art models. OPAL: Visibility-aware LiDAR-to-OpenStreetMap Place Recognition via Adaptive Radial FusionShuhao Kang, Martin Y. Liao, Yan Xia et al.
LiDAR place recognition is a critical capability for autonomous navigation and cross-modal localization in large-scale outdoor environments. Existing approaches predominantly depend on pre-built 3D dense maps or aerial imagery, which impose significant storage overhead and lack real-time adaptability. In this paper, we propose OPAL, a novel framework for LiDAR place recognition that leverages OpenStreetMap (OSM) as a lightweight and up-to-date prior. Our key innovation lies in bridging the domain disparity between sparse LiDAR scans and structured OSM data through two carefully designed components. First, a cross-modal visibility mask that identifies observable regions from both modalities to guide feature alignment. Second, an adaptive radial fusion module that dynamically consolidates radial features into discriminative global descriptors. Extensive experiments on KITTI and KITTI-360 datasets demonstrate OPAL's superiority, achieving 15.98% higher recall at 1m threshold for top-1 retrieved matches, along with 12x faster inference speed compared to the state-of-the-art approach. Energy-Aware Imitation Learning for Steering Prediction Using Events and FramesHu Cao, Jiong Liu, Xingzhuo Yan et al.
In autonomous driving, relying solely on frame-based cameras can lead to inaccuracies caused by factors like long exposure times, high-speed motion, and challenging lighting conditions. To address these issues, we introduce a bio-inspired vision sensor known as the event camera. Unlike conventional cameras, event cameras capture sparse, asynchronous events that provide a complementary modality to mitigate these challenges. In this work, we propose an energy-aware imitation learning framework for steering prediction that leverages both events and frames. Specifically, we design an Energy-driven Cross-modality Fusion Module (ECFM) and an energy-aware decoder to produce reliable and safe predictions. Extensive experiments on two public real-world datasets, DDD20 and DRFuser, demonstrate that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches. Balancing Openness and Safety: Central and Peripheral Governance Practices in the Lesbian Subreddit EcosystemYan Xia, Sushmita Khan, Naiyah Lewis et al.
Online LGBTQ+ communities face a persistent tension: remaining visible to welcome newcomers while protecting members from harassment. This challenge is particularly acute for lesbian communities on Reddit, which operate not as isolated groups but as an interconnected ecosystem. We examine how this tension is negotiated across the lesbian subreddit ecosystem (N=29) by combining network analysis of cross-subreddit links with a qualitative thematic analysis of 167 subreddit rules. Our findings show a functional division of governance labor between central (34%) and peripheral subreddits (66%). While all communities share a baseline of safety regulations, central subreddits prioritize content curation and feed quality to support a large, public-facing audience, whereas peripheral subreddits emphasize boundary maintenance and participation control to protect smaller, identity-specific niches. These findings challenge monolithic moderation approaches and highlight the need for ecosystem-aware design. We argue that effective moderation requires role- and context-sensitive tools supporting visibility and safety across interconnected spaces.

APO: Enhancing Reasoning Ability of MLLMs via Asymmetric Policy OptimizationMinjie Hong, Zirun Guo, Yan Xia et al.
Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) are powerful at integrating diverse data, but they often struggle with complex reasoning. While Reinforcement learning (RL) can boost reasoning in LLMs, applying it to MLLMs is tricky. Common issues include a drop in performance on general tasks and the generation of overly detailed or "overthinking" reasoning. Our work investigates how the KL penalty and overthinking affect RL training in MLLMs. We propose Asymmetric Policy Optimization (APO) to address these issues, which divides the sampled responses into positive and negative groups. For positive samples, Difficulty-Adaptive Divergence Shaping (DADS) is introduced to dynamically adjust the KL divergence weight based on their difficulty. This method prevents policy entropy from dropping sharply, improves training stability, utilizes samples better, and preserves the model's existing knowledge. For negative samples, Suboptimal Trajectory Complexity Regularization (STCR) is proposed to penalize overly long responses. This helps mitigate overthinking and encourages more concise reasoning while preserving the model's explorative capacity. We apply our method to Qwen2.5-VL-3B, creating View-R1-3B. View-R1-3B significantly enhances reasoning capabilities, showing an average 7\% gain over the base model and outperforming larger MLLMs (7-11B) on various reasoning benchmarks. Importantly, unlike other reasoning-tuned MLLMs that often degrade on general tasks, View-R1-3B maintains consistent improvement, demonstrating superior generalization. These results highlight the effectiveness and broad applicability of our DADS and STCR techniques for advancing complex multimodal reasoning in MLLMs. The code will be made available at https://github.com/Indolent-Kawhi/View-R1.

Generating synthetic computed tomography for radiotherapy: SynthRAD2025 challenge reportViktor Rogowski, Maarten L. Terpstra, Niklas Wahl et al.
Radiation therapy (RT) requires precise dose delivery over multiple fractions, with CT fundamental for treatment planning due to its electron density information. Repeated CT acquisitions impose radiation exposure and logistical burdens, MRI lacks electron density, and cone-beam CT (CBCT) requires correction for dose calculation. Synthetic CT (sCT) generation addresses these by converting MRI or CBCT into CT-equivalent images with accurate Hounsfield Unit (HU) values, enabling MRI-only RT and CBCT-based adaptive workflows. Building on SynthRAD2023, SynthRAD2025 benchmarked sCT methods on 2,362 patients from five European centers across head and neck, thorax, and abdomen. Two tasks: MRI-to-CT (890 cases) and CBCT-to-CT (1,472 cases), evaluated via image similarity (MAE, PSNR, MS-SSIM), segmentation (Dice, HD95), and dosimetric metrics from photon and proton plans. With 803 participants and 12/13 valid submissions, Task 1 top performance reached MAE $64.8\pm21.3$ HU, PSNR $\sim$30 dB, MS-SSIM $\sim$0.936, Dice 0.79, photon $γ_{2\%/2\text{mm}}>98\%$, proton $γ\approx85\%$. Task 2 improved: MAE $48.3\pm13.4$ HU, PSNR 32.6 dB, MS-SSIM 0.968, Dice 0.86, photon $γ>99\%$, proton $γ\approx89\%$. Strong image--segmentation correlations ($ρ=0.78$--$0.79$) but moderate dose correlations confirmed image quality is insufficient as a dosimetric surrogate. Head-and-neck cases were most consistent; thoracic and abdominal cases showed greater variability. Residual errors at tissue interfaces propagate along beam paths, affecting proton dose more than photon. SynthRAD2025 demonstrates that deep learning yields clinically relevant sCTs, especially for CBCT-to-CT, while identifying persistent MRI-to-CT challenges and underscoring dose-based evaluation as essential for clinical validation.

Open-set Cross Modal Generalization via Multimodal Unified RepresentationHai Huang, Yan Xia, Shulei Wang et al.
This paper extends Cross Modal Generalization (CMG) to open-set environments by proposing the more challenging Open-set Cross Modal Generalization (OSCMG) task. This task evaluates multimodal unified representations in open-set conditions, addressing the limitations of prior closed-set cross-modal evaluations. OSCMG requires not only cross-modal knowledge transfer but also robust generalization to unseen classes within new modalities, a scenario frequently encountered in real-world applications. Existing multimodal unified representation work lacks consideration for open-set environments. To tackle this, we propose MICU, comprising two key components: Fine-Coarse Masked multimodal InfoNCE (FCMI) and Cross modal Unified Jigsaw Puzzles (CUJP). FCMI enhances multimodal alignment by applying contrastive learning at both holistic semantic and temporal levels, incorporating masking to enhance generalization. CUJP enhances feature diversity and model uncertainty by integrating modality-agnostic feature selection with self-supervised learning, thereby strengthening the model's ability to handle unknown categories in open-set tasks. GANeXt: A Fully ConvNeXt-Enhanced Generative Adversarial Network for MRI- and CBCT-to-CT SynthesisSiyuan Mei, Yan Xia, Fuxin Fan
The synthesis of computed tomography (CT) from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cone-beam CT (CBCT) plays a critical role in clinical treatment planning by enabling accurate anatomical representation in adaptive radiotherapy. In this work, we propose GANeXt, a 3D patch-based, fully ConvNeXt-powered generative adversarial network for unified CT synthesis across different modalities and anatomical regions. Specifically, GANeXt employs an efficient U-shaped generator constructed from stacked 3D ConvNeXt blocks with compact convolution kernels, while the discriminator adopts a conditional PatchGAN. To improve synthesis quality, we incorporate a combination of loss functions, including mean absolute error (MAE), perceptual loss, segmentation-based masked MAE, and adversarial loss and a combination of Dice loss and cross-entropy for multi-head segmentation discriminator. For both tasks, training is performed with a batch size of 8 using two separate AdamW optimizers for the generator and discriminator, each equipped with a warmup and cosine decay scheduler, with learning rates of $5\times10^{-4}$ and $1\times10^{-3}$, respectively. Data preprocessing includes deformable registration, foreground cropping, percentile normalization for the input modality, and linear normalization of the CT to the range $[-1024, 1000]$. Data augmentation involves random zooming within $(0.8, 1.3)$ (for MRI-to-CT only), fixed-size cropping to $32\times160\times192$ for MRI-to-CT and $32\times128\times128$ for CBCT-to-CT, and random flipping. During inference, we apply a sliding-window approach with $0.8$ overlap and average folding to reconstruct the full-size sCT, followed by inversion of the CT normalization. After joint training on all regions without any fine-tuning, the final models are selected at the end of 3000 epochs for MRI-to-CT and 1000 epochs for CBCT-to-CT using the full training dataset.

SlideSparse: Fast and Flexible (2N-2):2N Structured SparsityHanyong Shao, Yingbo Hao, Ting Song et al.
NVIDIA's 2:4 Sparse Tensor Cores deliver 2x throughput but demand strict 50% pruning -- a ratio that collapses LLM reasoning accuracy (Qwen3: 54% to 15%). Milder $(2N-2):2N$ patterns (e.g., 6:8, 25% pruning) preserve accuracy yet receive no hardware support, falling back to dense execution without any benefit from sparsity. We present SlideSparse, the first system to unlock Sparse Tensor Core acceleration for the $(2N-2):2N$ model family on commodity GPUs. Our Sliding Window Decomposition reconstructs any $(2N-2):2N$ weight block into $N-1$ overlapping 2:4-compliant windows without any accuracy loss; Activation Lifting fuses the corresponding activation rearrangement into per-token quantization at near-zero cost. Integrated into vLLM, SlideSparse is evaluated across various GPUs (A100, H100, B200, RTX 4090, RTX 5080, DGX-spark), precisions (FP4, INT8, FP8, BF16, FP16), and model families (Llama, Qwen, BitNet). On compute-bound workloads, the measured speedup ratio (1.33x) approaches the theoretical upper-bound $N/(N-1)=4/3$ at 6:8 weight sparsity in Qwen2.5-7B, establishing $(2N-2):2N$ as a practical path to accuracy-preserving LLM acceleration. Sparse-BitNet: 1.58-bit LLMs are Naturally Friendly to Semi-Structured SparsityDi Zhang, Xun Wu, Shaohan Huang et al.
Semi-structured N:M sparsity and low-bit quantization (e.g., 1.58-bit BitNet) are two promising approaches for improving the efficiency of large language models (LLMs), yet they have largely been studied in isolation. In this work, we investigate their interaction and show that 1.58-bit BitNet is naturally more compatible with N:M sparsity than full-precision models. To study this effect, we propose Sparse-BitNet, a unified framework that jointly applies 1.58-bit quantization and dynamic N:M sparsification while ensuring stable training for the first time. Across multiple model scales and training regimes (sparse pretraining and dense-to-sparse schedules), 1.58-bit BitNet consistently exhibits smaller performance degradation than full-precision baselines at the same sparsity levels and can tolerate higher structured sparsity before accuracy collapse. Moreover, using our custom sparse tensor core, Sparse-BitNet achieves substantial speedups in both training and inference, reaching up to 1.30X. These results highlight that combining extremely low-bit quantization with semi-structured N:M sparsity is a promising direction for efficient LLMs. Code available at https://github.com/AAzdi/Sparse-BitNet

In this paper, we present BitNet Distillation (BitDistill), a lightweight pipeline that fine-tunes off-the-shelf full-precision LLMs (e.g., Qwen) into 1.58-bit precision (i.e., ternary weights {-1, 0, 1}) for specific downstream tasks, achieving strong task-specific performance with minimal computational cost. Specifically, BitDistill incorporates three key techniques: the SubLN module, as introduced in BitNet; multi-head attention distillation, based on MiniLM; and continual pre-training, which serves as a crucial warm-up step to mitigate the scalability issue of the performance gap between finetuned full-precision and 1.58-bit LLMs on specific tasks. Experimental results show that BitDistill achieves performance comparable to the full-precision counterpart models across model size, while enabling up to 10x memory savings and 2.65x faster inference on CPUs. FacaDiffy: Inpainting Unseen Facade Parts Using Diffusion ModelsThomas Froech, Olaf Wysocki, Yan Xia et al.
High-detail semantic 3D building models are frequently utilized in robotics, geoinformatics, and computer vision. One key aspect of creating such models is employing 2D conflict maps that detect openings' locations in building facades. Yet, in reality, these maps are often incomplete due to obstacles encountered during laser scanning. To address this challenge, we introduce FacaDiffy, a novel method for inpainting unseen facade parts by completing conflict maps with a personalized Stable Diffusion model. Specifically, we first propose a deterministic ray analysis approach to derive 2D conflict maps from existing 3D building models and corresponding laser scanning point clouds. Furthermore, we facilitate the inpainting of unseen facade objects into these 2D conflict maps by leveraging the potential of personalizing a Stable Diffusion model. To complement the scarcity of real-world training data, we also develop a scalable pipeline to produce synthetic conflict maps using random city model generators and annotated facade images. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FacaDiffy achieves state-of-the-art performance in conflict map completion compared to various inpainting baselines and increases the detection rate by $22\%$ when applying the completed conflict maps for high-definition 3D semantic building reconstruction.
