Knowing You at First Glance: Inferring Apparent Personality from Faces

Shuhuan Chen, Xiangyu Zhu, Weisong Zhao et al.

Inferring apparent personality from facial images is important in social scenarios for embodied agents in human-robot interaction. Unlike inferring intrinsic personality traits via conversation, this task models first-impression personality perception based solely on facial appearance before interaction begins. Existing studies mainly focus on the Big Five personality model and often rely on language or multimodal inputs. As a result, it remains unclear whether facial cues alone can support meaningful associations with perceived personality traits. This question is particularly relevant for MBTI types, which are widely used in practice and more readily interpretable by large language models. To this end, we propose \textbf{GlanceFace}, an end-to-end framework for apparent personality inference leveraging vision-language models to introduce semantic priors and a semantic-enhanced facial representation module to capture subtle personality-related cues, together with an uncertainty-aware learning strategy to handle noisy and subjective annotations. Extensive experiments demonstrate strong performance on MBTI-based apparent personality benchmarks and reveal relationships between facial characteristics and perceived personality traits, highlighting its potential to support adaptive initial interaction strategies for embodied agents. The code and dataset are available at https://github.com/MrHuan3/GlanceFace.

MOSAIC: Adaptive Inter-layer Composition for Efficient Heterogeneous Vision-Language Models

Yuncheng Yang, Feiyang Ye, Shixian Luo et al.

Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have achieved success using homogeneous Transformers to process multimedia data. Recent studies show that heterogeneous structures interleaving efficient mechanisms, like linear attention, improve both performance and inference latency over homogeneous designs. However, these efforts rely on handcrafted static mixing patterns, which are sub-optimal and difficult to adapt to specific hardware. To bridge this gap, we propose Multi-Objective Search for Adaptive Inter-layer Composition (MOSAIC), a hardware-aware search method that automatically transforms homogeneous models into optimized heterogeneous architectures. MOSAIC integrates diverse efficiency mechanisms--including linear, sparse, and low-rank operators--into a unified search space. By formulating the selection as a multi-objective Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) problem, our method identifies optimal configurations that maximize downstream performance under strict hardware latency constraints. To mitigate performance degradation from structural transitions, we introduce a two-stage parameter recovery process: global off-policy distillation to stabilize internal representations, followed by a dual-teacher on-policy distillation leveraging a 235B oracle for knowledge expansion and the original 4B teacher for distributional stability. We validate MOSAIC through MOSAIC-4B, derived from Qwen3-VL-4B-Instruct. Results demonstrate that MOSAIC-4B matches the baseline's performance across multiple benchmarks while requiring less than 2% of the original training cost. Furthermore, it substantially improves inference efficiency, achieving 1.76x prefilling and 2.54x decoding speedups.

Hidden Decoding at Scale: Latent Computation Scaling for Large Language Models

Aiwei Liu, Cheng Shi, Chuhan Wu et al.

Scaling Large Language Models (LLMs) has been driven mainly by enlarging the Transformer backbone, but for an already-strong model this requires another round of costly pretraining. We study whether an existing backbone can keep improving by allocating more computation to each token while leaving the Transformer backbone fixed. Depth-recurrent (looped) Transformers pursue this goal but are hard to scale, because looped computation does not fit naturally with the pipeline parallelism used to train the largest models. We add computation along the sequence-length dimension, where the extra computation is simply a longer input and stays compatible with standard large-model training. We propose Hidden Decoding, a sequence-length scaling method applied during continued pretraining (CPT). It expands each token into n streams with independent embedding tables and keeps the intermediate streams' key-value cache as context, so each token performs more internal computation without adding or widening Transformer layers. To keep this affordable at scale, we introduce Stream-Factorized Attention, in which most layers attend only within each stream and only a few layers mix across streams, reducing the attention cost from quadratic to roughly linear in n. Experiments support two scaling results. At frontier scale, we train WeLM-HD4-80B and WeLM-HD4-617B at n=4 and improve their matched non-HD baselines, making Hidden Decoding the first demonstrated sequence-length scaling method at the 100B+ MoE scale. Across expansion factors, the gains grow as n increases, showing that sequence-length expansion is a practical fixed-backbone scaling path for frontier-scale LLMs.

RUBRIC: Realism--Utility Balanced Ranking for Imbalanced Classification

Yanxuan Yu, Dong liu, Renata Borovica-Gajic et al.

Class imbalance poses a fundamental challenge in risk-sensitive applications such as fraud detection and medical diagnosis, where minority-class samples are scarce yet critical for accurate classification. Existing oversampling methods generate synthetic samples to rebalance class distributions; however, they often produce large numbers of low-quality candidates that distort decision boundaries or introduce artifacts, leading to overfitting and degraded generalization. In this work, we introduce RUBRIC, a generator-agnostic filtering framework that formulates synthetic sample selection as a quality-over-quantity optimization problem. RUBRIC ranks candidates using a realism-utility trade-off: realism is quantified by a learned discriminator that distinguishes real samples from synthetic samples, while utility captures proximity to the decision boundary through a concave margin-based scoring function. We show that, under mild regularity conditions, the proposed filtering strategy monotonically tightens the generalization bound for margin-based classifiers by jointly reducing distribution shift and suppressing near-negative tail contributions. Through extensive experiments on credit-card fraud detection and other imbalanced benchmarks, we demonstrate that RUBRIC improves F1-macro and recall while maintaining comparable ROC-AUC across several generators. We also provide explicit lambda-sensitivity analysis to show how users can recover AUPRC when ranking quality is prioritized.

KAT-Coder-V2.5 Technical Report

Bo Huang, Fengxiang Li, Hao Xu et al.

We present KAT-Coder-V2.5, a coding-focused agentic model trained to act autonomously inside real, executable repositories rather than as a single-turn code generator. Its capability is bottlenecked less by model scale than by the scarcity of reproducible environments, verifiable rewards, and high-value trajectories, which we address with an end-to-end agentic post-training framework. AutoBuilder reconstructs multilingual repositories into sandboxed environments with fail-to-pass and pass-to-pass verification at scale, from which we regenerate self-contained task specifications, recover near-miss trajectories, and distill supervision through process-aware filtering, while KwaiClawEnv synthesizes large-scale tool-use trajectories from executable services and real task seeds. We further scale reinforcement learning with harness randomization, a reliability-hardened sandbox, an asymmetric actor--critic PPO with hindsight-augmented value estimation, and a harness-oriented reward framework, and unify SWE, Agent-Claw, and WebCoding experts via Multi-Teacher On-Policy Distillation. Across six software-engineering and agentic benchmarks, KAT-Coder-V2.5 delivers the best agentic tool-use result on PinchBench and ranks second only to the frontier Opus 4.8 on repository-level software engineering.
