AndroTMem: From Interaction Trajectories to Anchored Memory in Long-Horizon GUI Agents

Long-horizon GUI agents are a key step toward real-world deployment, yet effective interaction memory under prevailing paradigms remains under-explored. Replaying full interaction sequences is redundant and amplifies noise, while summaries often erase dependency-critical information and traceability. We present AndroTMem, a diagnostic framework for anchored memory in long-horizon Android GUI agents. Its core benchmark, AndroTMem-Bench, comprises 1,069 tasks with 34,473 interaction steps (avg. 32.1 per task, max. 65). We evaluate agents with TCR (Task Complete Rate), focusing on tasks whose completion requires carrying forward critical intermediate state; AndroTMem-Bench is designed to enforce strong step-to-step causal dependencies, making sparse yet essential intermediate states decisive for downstream actions and centering interaction memory in evaluation. Across open- and closed-source GUI agents, we observe a consistent pattern: as interaction sequences grow longer, performance drops are driven mainly by within-task memory failures, not isolated perception errors or local action mistakes. Guided by this diagnosis, we propose Anchored State Memory (ASM), which represents interaction sequences as a compact set of causally linked intermediate-state anchors to enable subgoal-targeted retrieval and attribution-aware decision making. Across multiple settings and 12 evaluated GUI agents, ASM consistently outperforms full-sequence replay and summary-based baselines, improving TCR by 5%-30.16% and AMS by 4.93%-24.66%, indicating that anchored, structured memory effectively mitigates the interaction-memory bottleneck in long-horizon GUI tasks. LatentOmni: Rethinking Omni-Modal Understanding via Unified Audio-Visual Latent Reasoning

Joint audio-visual reasoning is essential for omnimodal understanding, yet current multimodal large language models (MLLMs) still struggle when reasoning requires fine-grained evidence from both modalities. A central limitation is that explicit text-based chain-of-thought (CoT) compresses continuous audio-visual signals into discrete tokens, weakening temporal grounding and shifting intermediate reasoning toward language priors. We argue that a unified latent space is a better medium for such reasoning because it preserves dense sensory information while remaining compatible with autoregressive generation. Based on this insight, we propose \textbf{LatentOmni}, a cross-modal reasoning framework that interleaves textual reasoning with audio-visual latent states. LatentOmni introduces feature-level supervision to align latent reasoning states with task-relevant sensory features and uses Omni-Sync Position Embedding (OSPE) to maintain temporal consistency between latent audio and visual states. We further construct \textbf{LatentOmni-Instruct-35K}, a dataset of audio-visual interleaved reasoning trajectories for supervising latent-space reasoning. Comprehensive evaluation across multiple audio-visual reasoning benchmarks demonstrates that LatentOmni achieves the best performance among the evaluated open-source models and consistently outperforms the Explicit Text CoT baseline, supporting latent-space joint reasoning as a promising path toward stronger omnimodal understanding.

On Understanding and Mitigating the Dimensional Collapse of Graph Contrastive Learning: a Non-Maximum Removal Approach

Graph Contrastive Learning (GCL) has shown promising performance in graph representation learning (GRL) without the supervision of manual annotations. GCL can generate graph-level embeddings by maximizing the Mutual Information (MI) between different augmented views of the same graph (positive pairs). However, the GCL is limited by dimensional collapse, i.e., embedding vectors only occupy a low-dimensional subspace. In this paper, we show that the smoothing effect of the graph pooling and the implicit regularization of the graph convolution are two causes of the dimensional collapse in GCL. To mitigate the above issue, we propose a non-maximum removal graph contrastive learning approach (nmrGCL), which removes "prominent'' dimensions (i.e., contribute most in similarity measurement) for positive pair in the pre-text task. Comprehensive experiments on various benchmark datasets are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of nmrGCL, and the results show that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. LongAV-Compass: Towards Unified Evaluation of Minute-Scale Audio-Visual Generation Across T2AV, I2AV, and V2AV

Audio-visual generation is rapidly advancing from short clips to minute-long content, while existing evaluation protocols remain largely confined to short-form settings. Existing benchmarks primarily focus on 5--10 second text-conditioned generation and rarely support unified evaluation across text, image, and video conditioning modalities. Moreover, they provide limited insight into how identity consistency, narrative coherence, and audio-visual alignment degrade over extended temporal horizons. To bridge this gap, we introduce LongAV-Compass, a systematic benchmark for minute-long audio-visual generation. LongAV-Compass contains 284 curated test cases spanning text-to-audio-video (T2AV), image-to-audio-video (I2AV), and video-to-audio-video (V2AV), organized by application scenario and generation complexity. The benchmark combines taxonomy-guided benchmark construction with a unified evaluation framework that integrates MLLM-assisted assessment with complementary perceptual and multimodal metrics, including DINO-v2, ArcFace, CLIP, and ImageBind. The framework evaluates more than 20 fine-grained dimensions covering within-segment quality, cross-segment consistency, global narrative coherence, semantic alignment, and audio-visual synchronization. Through experiments on 11 representative models together with human-alignment validation, LongAV-Compass provides a diagnostic testbed for analyzing the limitations of current systems in sustaining coherent, semantically aligned, and temporally consistent minute-scale audio-visual generation across diverse input modalities.

Prompt Guided Transformer for Multi-Task Dense Prediction

Task-conditional architecture offers advantage in parameter efficiency but falls short in performance compared to state-of-the-art multi-decoder methods. How to trade off performance and model parameters is an important and difficult problem. In this paper, we introduce a simple and lightweight task-conditional model called Prompt Guided Transformer (PGT) to optimize this challenge. Our approach designs a Prompt-conditioned Transformer block, which incorporates task-specific prompts in the self-attention mechanism to achieve global dependency modeling and parameter-efficient feature adaptation across multiple tasks. This block is integrated into both the shared encoder and decoder, enhancing the capture of intra- and inter-task features. Moreover, we design a lightweight decoder to further reduce parameter usage, which accounts for only 2.7% of the total model parameters. Extensive experiments on two multi-task dense prediction benchmarks, PASCAL-Context and NYUD-v2, demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art results among task-conditional methods while using fewer parameters, and maintains a significant balance between performance and parameter size.

FedHCA$^2$: Towards Hetero-Client Federated Multi-Task Learning

Federated Learning (FL) enables joint training across distributed clients using their local data privately. Federated Multi-Task Learning (FMTL) builds on FL to handle multiple tasks, assuming model congruity that identical model architecture is deployed in each client. To relax this assumption and thus extend real-world applicability, we introduce a novel problem setting, Hetero-Client Federated Multi-Task Learning (HC-FMTL), to accommodate diverse task setups. The main challenge of HC-FMTL is the model incongruity issue that invalidates conventional aggregation methods. It also escalates the difficulties in accurate model aggregation to deal with data and task heterogeneity inherent in FMTL. To address these challenges, we propose the FedHCA$^2$ framework, which allows for federated training of personalized models by modeling relationships among heterogeneous clients. Drawing on our theoretical insights into the difference between multi-task and federated optimization, we propose the Hyper Conflict-Averse Aggregation scheme to mitigate conflicts during encoder updates. Additionally, inspired by task interaction in MTL, the Hyper Cross Attention Aggregation scheme uses layer-wise cross attention to enhance decoder interactions while alleviating model incongruity. Moreover, we employ learnable Hyper Aggregation Weights for each client to customize personalized parameter updates. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of FedHCA$^2$ in various HC-FMTL scenarios compared to representative methods. Our code will be made publicly available.

BPJDet: Extended Object Representation for Generic Body-Part Joint Detection

Detection of human body and its parts has been intensively studied. However, most of CNNs-based detectors are trained independently, making it difficult to associate detected parts with body. In this paper, we focus on the joint detection of human body and its parts. Specifically, we propose a novel extended object representation integrating center-offsets of body parts, and construct an end-to-end generic Body-Part Joint Detector (BPJDet). In this way, body-part associations are neatly embedded in a unified representation containing both semantic and geometric contents. Therefore, we can optimize multi-loss to tackle multi-tasks synergistically. Moreover, this representation is suitable for anchor-based and anchor-free detectors. BPJDet does not suffer from error-prone post matching, and keeps a better trade-off between speed and accuracy. Furthermore, BPJDet can be generalized to detect body-part or body-parts of either human or quadruped animals. To verify the superiority of BPJDet, we conduct experiments on datasets of body-part (CityPersons, CrowdHuman and BodyHands) and body-parts (COCOHumanParts and Animals5C). While keeping high detection accuracy, BPJDet achieves state-of-the-art association performance on all datasets. Besides, we show benefits of advanced body-part association capability by improving performance of two representative downstream applications: accurate crowd head detection and hand contact estimation. Completely Heterogeneous Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) faces three major difficulties: cross-domain, heterogeneous models, and non-i.i.d. labels scenarios. Existing FL methods fail to handle the above three constraints at the same time, and the level of privacy protection needs to be lowered (e.g., the model architecture and data category distribution can be shared). In this work, we propose the challenging "completely heterogeneous" scenario in FL, which refers to that each client will not expose any private information including feature space, model architecture, and label distribution. We then devise an FL framework based on parameter decoupling and data-free knowledge distillation to solve the problem. Experiments show that our proposed method achieves high performance in completely heterogeneous scenarios where other approaches fail.

UNIDEAL: Curriculum Knowledge Distillation Federated Learning

Federated Learning (FL) has emerged as a promising approach to enable collaborative learning among multiple clients while preserving data privacy. However, cross-domain FL tasks, where clients possess data from different domains or distributions, remain a challenging problem due to the inherent heterogeneity. In this paper, we present UNIDEAL, a novel FL algorithm specifically designed to tackle the challenges of cross-domain scenarios and heterogeneous model architectures. The proposed method introduces Adjustable Teacher-Student Mutual Evaluation Curriculum Learning, which significantly enhances the effectiveness of knowledge distillation in FL settings. We conduct extensive experiments on various datasets, comparing UNIDEAL with state-of-the-art baselines. Our results demonstrate that UNIDEAL achieves superior performance in terms of both model accuracy and communication efficiency. Additionally, we provide a convergence analysis of the algorithm, showing a convergence rate of O(1/T) under non-convex conditions.

Research on World Models Is Not Merely Injecting World Knowledge into Specific Tasks

World models have emerged as a critical frontier in AI research, aiming to enhance large models by infusing them with physical dynamics and world knowledge. The core objective is to enable agents to understand, predict, and interact with complex environments. However, current research landscape remains fragmented, with approaches predominantly focused on injecting world knowledge into isolated tasks, such as visual prediction, 3D estimation, or symbol grounding, rather than establishing a unified definition or framework. While these task-specific integrations yield performance gains, they often lack the systematic coherence required for holistic world understanding. In this paper, we analyze the limitations of such fragmented approaches and propose a unified design specification for world models. We suggest that a robust world model should not be a loose collection of capabilities but a normative framework that integrally incorporates interaction, perception, symbolic reasoning, and spatial representation. This work aims to provide a structured perspective to guide future research toward more general, robust, and principled models of the world.

PA-SAM: Prompt Adapter SAM for High-Quality Image Segmentation

The Segment Anything Model (SAM) has exhibited outstanding performance in various image segmentation tasks. Despite being trained with over a billion masks, SAM faces challenges in mask prediction quality in numerous scenarios, especially in real-world contexts. In this paper, we introduce a novel prompt-driven adapter into SAM, namely Prompt Adapter Segment Anything Model (PA-SAM), aiming to enhance the segmentation mask quality of the original SAM. By exclusively training the prompt adapter, PA-SAM extracts detailed information from images and optimizes the mask decoder feature at both sparse and dense prompt levels, improving the segmentation performance of SAM to produce high-quality masks. Experimental results demonstrate that our PA-SAM outperforms other SAM-based methods in high-quality, zero-shot, and open-set segmentation. Position-Aware Subgraph Neural Networks with Data-Efficient Learning

Data-efficient learning on graphs (GEL) is essential in real-world applications. Existing GEL methods focus on learning useful representations for nodes, edges, or entire graphs with ``small'' labeled data. But the problem of data-efficient learning for subgraph prediction has not been explored. The challenges of this problem lie in the following aspects: 1) It is crucial for subgraphs to learn positional features to acquire structural information in the base graph in which they exist. Although the existing subgraph neural network method is capable of learning disentangled position encodings, the overall computational complexity is very high. 2) Prevailing graph augmentation methods for GEL, including rule-based, sample-based, adaptive, and automated methods, are not suitable for augmenting subgraphs because a subgraph contains fewer nodes but richer information such as position, neighbor, and structure. Subgraph augmentation is more susceptible to undesirable perturbations. 3) Only a small number of nodes in the base graph are contained in subgraphs, which leads to a potential ``bias'' problem that the subgraph representation learning is dominated by these ``hot'' nodes. By contrast, the remaining nodes fail to be fully learned, which reduces the generalization ability of subgraph representation learning. In this paper, we aim to address the challenges above and propose a Position-Aware Data-Efficient Learning framework for subgraph neural networks called PADEL. Specifically, we propose a novel node position encoding method that is anchor-free, and design a new generative subgraph augmentation method based on a diffused variational subgraph autoencoder, and we propose exploratory and exploitable views for subgraph contrastive learning. Extensive experiment results on three real-world datasets show the superiority of our proposed method over state-of-the-art baselines.

Recovering Hidden Reward in Diffusion-Based Policies

This paper introduces EnergyFlow, a framework that unifies generative action modeling with inverse reinforcement learning by parameterizing a scalar energy function whose gradient is the denoising field. We establish that under maximum-entropy optimality, the score function learned via denoising score matching recovers the gradient of the expert's soft Q-function, enabling reward extraction without adversarial training. Formally, we prove that constraining the learned field to be conservative reduces hypothesis complexity and tightens out-of-distribution generalization bounds. We further characterize the identifiability of recovered rewards and bound how score estimation errors propagate to action preferences. Empirically, EnergyFlow achieves state-of-the-art imitation performance on various manipulation tasks while providing an effective reward signal for downstream reinforcement learning that outperforms both adversarial IRL methods and likelihood-based alternatives. These results show that the structural constraints required for valid reward extraction simultaneously serve as beneficial inductive biases for policy generalization. OmniSIFT: Modality-Asymmetric Token Compression for Efficient Omni-modal Large Language Models

Omni-modal Large Language Models (Omni-LLMs) have demonstrated strong capabilities in audio-video understanding tasks. However, their reliance on long multimodal token sequences leads to substantial computational overhead. Despite this challenge, token compression methods designed for Omni-LLMs remain limited. To bridge this gap, we propose OmniSIFT (Omni-modal Spatio-temporal Informed Fine-grained Token compression), a modality-asymmetric token compression framework tailored for Omni-LLMs. Specifically, OmniSIFT adopts a two-stage compression strategy: (i) a spatio-temporal video pruning module that removes video redundancy arising from both intra-frame structure and inter-frame overlap, and (ii) a vision-guided audio selection module that filters audio tokens. The entire framework is optimized end-to-end via a differentiable straight-through estimator. Extensive experiments on five representative benchmarks demonstrate the efficacy and robustness of OmniSIFT. Notably, for Qwen2.5-Omni-7B, OmniSIFT introduces only 4.85M parameters while maintaining lower latency than training-free baselines such as OmniZip. With merely 25% of the original token context, OmniSIFT consistently outperforms all compression baselines and even surpasses the performance of the full-token model on several tasks.

Artifact-Bench: Evaluating MLLMs on Detecting and Assessing the Artifacts of AI-Generated Videos

Recent video generative models have greatly improved the realism of AI-generated videos, yet their outputs still exhibit artifacts such as temporal inconsistencies, structural distortions, and semantic incoherence. While Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) show strong visual understanding capabilities, their ability to perceive and reason about such artifacts remains unclear. Existing benchmarks often lack systematic evaluation of artifact-aware perception and fine-grained diagnostic reasoning, especially across diverse AI-generated video domains beyond photorealistic content. To address this gap, we introduce Artifact-Bench, a comprehensive benchmark for evaluating MLLMs on AI-generated video artifact detection and analysis. We first establish a three-level hierarchical taxonomy of realism artifacts, covering photorealistic, animated, and CG-style videos. Based on this taxonomy, Artifact-Bench defines three complementary tasks: real vs. AI-generated video classification, pairwise realism comparison, and fine-grained artifact identification. Experiments on 19 leading MLLMs reveal substantial limitations in artifact perception and reasoning, with many models approaching random or even below-random performance in challenging settings. We further observe significant misalignment between MLLM judgments and human perceptual preferences, highlighting their limited reliability as general evaluators for AI-generated video realism.

Federated Multi-Task Learning on Non-IID Data Silos: An Experimental Study

The innovative Federated Multi-Task Learning (FMTL) approach consolidates the benefits of Federated Learning (FL) and Multi-Task Learning (MTL), enabling collaborative model training on multi-task learning datasets. However, a comprehensive evaluation method, integrating the unique features of both FL and MTL, is currently absent in the field. This paper fills this void by introducing a novel framework, FMTL-Bench, for systematic evaluation of the FMTL paradigm. This benchmark covers various aspects at the data, model, and optimization algorithm levels, and comprises seven sets of comparative experiments, encapsulating a wide array of non-independent and identically distributed (Non-IID) data partitioning scenarios. We propose a systematic process for comparing baselines of diverse indicators and conduct a case study on communication expenditure, time, and energy consumption. Through our exhaustive experiments, we aim to provide valuable insights into the strengths and limitations of existing baseline methods, contributing to the ongoing discourse on optimal FMTL application in practical scenarios. NoMorelization: Building Normalizer-Free Models from a Sample's Perspective

The normalizing layer has become one of the basic configurations of deep learning models, but it still suffers from computational inefficiency, interpretability difficulties, and low generality. After gaining a deeper understanding of the recent normalization and normalizer-free research works from a sample's perspective, we reveal the fact that the problem lies in the sampling noise and the inappropriate prior assumption. In this paper, we propose a simple and effective alternative to normalization, which is called "NoMorelization". NoMorelization is composed of two trainable scalars and a zero-centered noise injector. Experimental results demonstrate that NoMorelization is a general component for deep learning and is suitable for different model paradigms (e.g., convolution-based and attention-based models) to tackle different tasks (e.g., discriminative and generative tasks). Compared with existing mainstream normalizers (e.g., BN, LN, and IN) and state-of-the-art normalizer-free methods, NoMorelization shows the best speed-accuracy trade-off.

EDEN: A Plug-in Equivariant Distance Encoding to Beyond the 1-WL Test

The message-passing scheme is the core of graph representation learning. While most existing message-passing graph neural networks (MPNNs) are permutation-invariant in graph-level representation learning and permutation-equivariant in node- and edge-level representation learning, their expressive power is commonly limited by the 1-Weisfeiler-Lehman (1-WL) graph isomorphism test. Recently proposed expressive graph neural networks (GNNs) with specially designed complex message-passing mechanisms are not practical. To bridge the gap, we propose a plug-in Equivariant Distance ENcoding (EDEN) for MPNNs. EDEN is derived from a series of interpretable transformations on the graph's distance matrix. We theoretically prove that EDEN is permutation-equivariant for all level graph representation learning, and we empirically illustrate that EDEN's expressive power can reach up to the 3-WL test. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets show that combining EDEN with conventional GNNs surpasses recent advanced GNNs.

OpenWorldLib: A Unified Codebase and Definition of Advanced World Models

World models have garnered significant attention as a promising research direction in artificial intelligence, yet a clear and unified definition remains lacking. In this paper, we introduce OpenWorldLib, a comprehensive and standardized inference framework for Advanced World Models. Drawing on the evolution of world models, we propose a clear definition: a world model is a model or framework centered on perception, equipped with interaction and long-term memory capabilities, for understanding and predicting the complex world. We further systematically categorize the essential capabilities of world models. Based on this definition, OpenWorldLib integrates models across different tasks within a unified framework, enabling efficient reuse and collaborative inference. Semantic Routing: Exploring Multi-Layer LLM Feature Weighting for Diffusion Transformers

Recent DiT-based text-to-image models increasingly adopt LLMs as text encoders, yet text conditioning remains largely static and often utilizes only a single LLM layer, despite pronounced semantic hierarchy across LLM layers and non-stationary denoising dynamics over both diffusion time and network depth. To better match the dynamic process of DiT generation and thereby enhance the diffusion model's generative capability, we introduce a unified normalized convex fusion framework equipped with lightweight gates to systematically organize multi-layer LLM hidden states via time-wise, depth-wise, and joint fusion. Experiments establish Depth-wise Semantic Routing as the superior conditioning strategy, consistently improving text-image alignment and compositional generation (e.g., +9.97 on the GenAI-Bench Counting task). Conversely, we find that purely time-wise fusion can paradoxically degrade visual generation fidelity. We attribute this to a train-inference trajectory mismatch: under classifier-free guidance, nominal timesteps fail to track the effective SNR, causing semantically mistimed feature injection during inference. Overall, our results position depth-wise routing as a strong and effective baseline and highlight the critical need for trajectory-aware signals to enable robust time-dependent conditioning.

Optimal Design and Implementation of an Open-source Emulation Platform for User-Centric Shared E-mobility Services

With the rising concern over transportation emissions and pollution on a global scale, shared electric mobility services like E-cars, E-bikes, and E-scooters have emerged as promising solutions to mitigate these pressing challenges. However, existing shared E-mobility services exhibit critical design deficiencies, including insufficient service integration, imprecise energy consumption forecasting, limited scalability and geographical coverage, and a notable absence of a user-centric perspective, particularly in the context of multi-modal transportation. More importantly, there is no consolidated open-source platform which could benefit the E-mobility research community. This paper aims to bridge this gap by providing an open-source platform for shared E-mobility. The proposed platform, with an agent-in-the-loop approach and modular architecture, is tailored to diverse user preferences and offers enhanced customization. We demonstrate the viability of this platform by providing a comprehensive analysis for integrated multi-modal route-optimization in diverse scenarios of energy availability, user preferences and E-mobility tools placement for which we use modified Ant Colony Optimization algorithm so called Multi-Model Energy Constrained ACO (MMEC-ACO) and Q-Learning algorithms. Our findings demonstrate that Q-learning achieves significantly better performance in terms of travel time cost for more than 90\% of the instances as compared to MMEC-ACO for different scenarios including energy availability, user preference and E-mobility tools distribution. For a fixed (O, D) pair, the average execution time to achieve optimal time cost solution for MMEC-ACO is less than 2 seconds, while Q-learning reaches an optimal time cost in 20 seconds on average. For a run-time of 2 seconds, Q-learning still achieves a better optimal time cost with a 20\% reduction over MMEC-ACO's time cost.

HACMatch Semi-Supervised Rotation Regression with Hardness-Aware Curriculum Pseudo Labeling

Regressing 3D rotations of objects from 2D images is a crucial yet challenging task, with broad applications in autonomous driving, virtual reality, and robotic control. Existing rotation regression models often rely on large amounts of labeled data for training or require additional information beyond 2D images, such as point clouds or CAD models. Therefore, exploring semi-supervised rotation regression using only a limited number of labeled 2D images is highly valuable. While recent work FisherMatch introduces semi-supervised learning to rotation regression, it suffers from rigid entropy-based pseudo-label filtering that fails to effectively distinguish between reliable and unreliable unlabeled samples. To address this limitation, we propose a hardness-aware curriculum learning framework that dynamically selects pseudo-labeled samples based on their difficulty, progressing from easy to complex examples. We introduce both multi-stage and adaptive curriculum strategies to replace fixed-threshold filtering with more flexible, hardness-aware mechanisms. Additionally, we present a novel structured data augmentation strategy specifically tailored for rotation estimation, which assembles composite images from augmented patches to introduce feature diversity while preserving critical geometric integrity. Comprehensive experiments on PASCAL3D+ and ObjectNet3D demonstrate that our method outperforms existing supervised and semi-supervised baselines, particularly in low-data regimes, validating the effectiveness of our curriculum learning framework and structured augmentation approach.

MORE: Multi-Organ Medical Image REconstruction Dataset

CT reconstruction provides radiologists with images for diagnosis and treatment, yet current deep learning methods are typically limited to specific anatomies and datasets, hindering generalization ability to unseen anatomies and lesions. To address this, we introduce the Multi-Organ medical image REconstruction (MORE) dataset, comprising CT scans across 9 diverse anatomies with 15 lesion types. This dataset serves two key purposes: (1) enabling robust training of deep learning models on extensive, heterogeneous data, and (2) facilitating rigorous evaluation of model generalization for CT reconstruction. We further establish a strong baseline solution that outperforms prior approaches under these challenging conditions. Our results demonstrate that: (1) a comprehensive dataset helps improve the generalization capability of models, and (2) optimization-based methods offer enhanced robustness for unseen anatomies. Discretized Gaussian Representation for Tomographic Reconstruction

Computed Tomography (CT) enables detailed cross-sectional imaging but continues to face challenges in balancing reconstruction quality and computational efficiency. While deep learning-based methods have significantly improved image quality and noise reduction, they typically require large-scale training data and intensive computation. Recent advances in scene reconstruction, such as Neural Radiance Fields and 3D Gaussian Splatting, offer alternative perspectives but are not well-suited for direct volumetric CT reconstruction. In this work, we propose Discretized Gaussian Representation (DGR), a novel framework that reconstructs the 3D volume directly using a set of discretized Gaussian functions in an end-to-end manner. To further enhance efficiency, we introduce Fast Volume Reconstruction, a highly parallelized technique that aggregates Gaussian contributions into the voxel grid with minimal overhead. Extensive experiments on both real-world and synthetic datasets demonstrate that DGR achieves superior reconstruction quality and runtime performance across various CT reconstruction scenarios. DiaDem: Advancing Dialogue Descriptions in Audiovisual Video Captioning for Multimodal Large Language Models

Accurate dialogue description in audiovisual video captioning is crucial for downstream understanding and generation tasks. However, existing models generally struggle to produce faithful dialogue descriptions within audiovisual captions. To mitigate this limitation, we propose DiaDem, a powerful audiovisual video captioning model capable of generating captions with more precise dialogue descriptions while maintaining strong overall performance. We first synthesize a high-quality dataset for SFT, then employ a difficulty-partitioned two-stage GRPO strategy to further enhance dialogue descriptions. To enable systematic evaluation of dialogue description capabilities, we introduce DiaDemBench, a comprehensive benchmark designed to evaluate models across diverse dialogue scenarios, emphasizing both speaker attribution accuracy and utterance transcription fidelity in audiovisual captions. Extensive experiments on DiaDemBench reveal even commercial models still exhibit substantial room for improvement in dialogue-aware captioning. Notably, DiaDem not only outperforms the Gemini series in dialogue description accuracy but also achieves competitive performance on general audiovisual captioning benchmarks, demonstrating its overall effectiveness.

AVoCaDO: An Audiovisual Video Captioner Driven by Temporal Orchestration

Audiovisual video captioning aims to generate semantically rich descriptions with temporal alignment between visual and auditory events, thereby benefiting both video understanding and generation. In this paper, we present AVoCaDO, a powerful audiovisual video captioner driven by the temporal orchestration between audio and visual modalities. We propose a two-stage post-training pipeline: (1) AVoCaDO SFT, which fine-tunes the model on a newly curated dataset of 107K high-quality, temporally-aligned audiovisual captions; and (2) AVoCaDO GRPO, which leverages tailored reward functions to further enhance temporal coherence and dialogue accuracy while regularizing caption length and reducing collapse. Experimental results demonstrate that AVoCaDO significantly outperforms existing open-source models across four audiovisual video captioning benchmarks, and also achieves competitive performance on the VDC and DREAM-1K benchmark under visual-only settings.

D$^2$HScore: Reasoning-Aware Hallucination Detection via Semantic Breadth and Depth Analysis in LLMs

Although large Language Models (LLMs) have achieved remarkable success, their practical application is often hindered by the generation of non-factual content, which is called "hallucination". Ensuring the reliability of LLMs' outputs is a critical challenge, particularly in high-stakes domains such as finance, security, and healthcare. In this work, we revisit hallucination detection from the perspective of model architecture and generation dynamics. Leveraging the multi-layer structure and autoregressive decoding process of LLMs, we decompose hallucination signals into two complementary dimensions: the semantic breadth of token representations within each layer, and the semantic depth of core concepts as they evolve across layers. Based on this insight, we propose \textbf{D$^2$HScore (Dispersion and Drift-based Hallucination Score)}, a training-free and label-free framework that jointly measures: (1) \textbf{Intra-Layer Dispersion}, which quantifies the semantic diversity of token representations within each layer; and (2) \textbf{Inter-Layer Drift}, which tracks the progressive transformation of key token representations across layers. To ensure drift reflects the evolution of meaningful semantics rather than noisy or redundant tokens, we guide token selection using attention signals. By capturing both the horizontal and vertical dynamics of representation during inference, D$^2$HScore provides an interpretable and lightweight proxy for hallucination detection. Extensive experiments across five open-source LLMs and five widely used benchmarks demonstrate that D$^2$HScore consistently outperforms existing training-free baselines.

Boosting Semi-Supervised 2D Human Pose Estimation by Revisiting Data Augmentation and Consistency Training

The 2D human pose estimation (HPE) is a basic visual problem. However, its supervised learning requires massive keypoint labels, which is labor-intensive to collect. Thus, we aim at boosting a pose estimator by excavating extra unlabeled data with semi-supervised learning (SSL). Most previous SSHPE methods are consistency-based and strive to maintain consistent outputs for differently augmented inputs. Under this genre, we find that SSHPE can be boosted from two cores: advanced data augmentations and concise consistency training ways. Specifically, for the first core, we discover the synergistic effects of existing augmentations, and reveal novel paradigms for conveniently producing new superior HPE-oriented augmentations which can more effectively add noise on unlabeled samples. We can therefore establish paired easy-hard augmentations with larger difficulty gaps. For the second core, we propose to repeatedly augment unlabeled images with diverse hard augmentations, and generate multi-path predictions sequentially for optimizing multi-losses in a single network. This simple and compact design is interpretable, and easily benefits from newly found augmentations. Comparing to state-of-the-art SSL approaches, our method brings substantial improvements on public datasets. And we extensively validate the superiority and versatility of our approach on conventional human body images, overhead fisheye images, and human hand images. Sparse Meets Dense: Unified Generative Recommendations with Cascaded Sparse-Dense Representations

Generative models have recently gained attention in recommendation systems by directly predicting item identifiers from user interaction sequences. However, existing methods suffer from significant information loss due to the separation of stages such as quantization and sequence modeling, hindering their ability to achieve the modeling precision and accuracy of sequential dense retrieval techniques. Integrating generative and dense retrieval methods remains a critical challenge. To address this, we introduce the Cascaded Organized Bi-Represented generAtive retrieval (COBRA) framework, which innovatively integrates sparse semantic IDs and dense vectors through a cascading process. Our method alternates between generating these representations by first generating sparse IDs, which serve as conditions to aid in the generation of dense vectors. End-to-end training enables dynamic refinement of dense representations, capturing both semantic insights and collaborative signals from user-item interactions. During inference, COBRA employs a coarse-to-fine strategy, starting with sparse ID generation and refining them into dense vectors via the generative model. We further propose BeamFusion, an innovative approach combining beam search with nearest neighbor scores to enhance inference flexibility and recommendation diversity. Extensive experiments on public datasets and offline tests validate our method's robustness. Online A/B tests on a real-world advertising platform with over 200 million daily users demonstrate substantial improvements in key metrics, highlighting COBRA's practical advantages.

CS-GBA: A Critical Sample-based Gradient-guided Backdoor Attack for Offline Reinforcement Learning

Offline Reinforcement Learning (RL) enables policy optimization from static datasets but is inherently vulnerable to backdoor attacks. Existing attack strategies typically struggle against safety-constrained algorithms (e.g., CQL) due to inefficient random poisoning and the use of easily detectable Out-of-Distribution (OOD) triggers. In this paper, we propose CS-GBA (Critical Sample-based Gradient-guided Backdoor Attack), a novel framework designed to achieve high stealthiness and destructiveness under a strict budget. Leveraging the theoretical insight that samples with high Temporal Difference (TD) errors are pivotal for value function convergence, we introduce an adaptive Critical Sample Selection strategy that concentrates the attack budget on the most influential transitions. To evade OOD detection, we propose a Correlation-Breaking Trigger mechanism that exploits the physical mutual exclusivity of state features (e.g., 95th percentile boundaries) to remain statistically concealed. Furthermore, we replace the conventional label inversion with a Gradient-Guided Action Generation mechanism, which searches for worst-case actions within the data manifold using the victim Q-network's gradient. Empirical results on D4RL benchmarks demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines, achieving high attack success rates against representative safety-constrained algorithms with a minimal 5% poisoning budget, while maintaining the agent's performance in clean environments.

Attention-guided Self-reflection for Zero-shot Hallucination Detection in Large Language Models

Hallucination has emerged as a significant barrier to the effective application of Large Language Models (LLMs). In this work, we introduce a novel Attention-Guided SElf-Reflection (AGSER) approach for zero-shot hallucination detection in LLMs. The AGSER method utilizes attention contributions to categorize the input query into attentive and non-attentive queries. Each query is then processed separately through the LLMs, allowing us to compute consistency scores between the generated responses and the original answer. The difference between the two consistency scores serves as a hallucination estimator. In addition to its efficacy in detecting hallucinations, AGSER notably reduces computational overhead, requiring only three passes through the LLM and utilizing two sets of tokens. We have conducted extensive experiments with four widely-used LLMs across three different hallucination benchmarks, demonstrating that our approach significantly outperforms existing methods in zero-shot hallucination detection.

YOLO-MED : Multi-Task Interaction Network for Biomedical Images

Object detection and semantic segmentation are pivotal components in biomedical image analysis. Current single-task networks exhibit promising outcomes in both detection and segmentation tasks. Multi-task networks have gained prominence due to their capability to simultaneously tackle segmentation and detection tasks, while also accelerating the segmentation inference. Nevertheless, recent multi-task networks confront distinct limitations such as the difficulty in striking a balance between accuracy and inference speed. Additionally, they often overlook the integration of cross-scale features, which is especially important for biomedical image analysis. In this study, we propose an efficient end-to-end multi-task network capable of concurrently performing object detection and semantic segmentation called YOLO-Med. Our model employs a backbone and a neck for multi-scale feature extraction, complemented by the inclusion of two task-specific decoders. A cross-scale task-interaction module is employed in order to facilitate information fusion between various tasks. Our model exhibits promising results in balancing accuracy and speed when evaluated on the Kvasir-seg dataset and a private biomedical image dataset.

Data-driven Energy Consumption Modelling for Electric Micromobility using an Open Dataset

The escalating challenges of traffic congestion and environmental degradation underscore the critical importance of embracing E-Mobility solutions in urban spaces. In particular, micro E-Mobility tools such as E-scooters and E-bikes, play a pivotal role in this transition, offering sustainable alternatives for urban commuters. However, the energy consumption patterns for these tools are a critical aspect that impacts their effectiveness in real-world scenarios and is essential for trip planning and boosting user confidence in using these. To this effect, recent studies have utilised physical models customised for specific mobility tools and conditions, but these models struggle with generalization and effectiveness in real-world scenarios due to a notable absence of open datasets for thorough model evaluation and verification. To fill this gap, our work presents an open dataset, collected in Dublin, Ireland, specifically designed for energy modelling research related to E-Scooters and E-Bikes. Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive analysis of energy consumption modelling based on the dataset using a set of representative machine learning algorithms and compare their performance against the contemporary mathematical models as a baseline. Our results demonstrate a notable advantage for data-driven models in comparison to the corresponding mathematical models for estimating energy consumption. Specifically, data-driven models outperform physical models in accuracy by up to 83.83% for E-Bikes and 82.16% for E-Scooters based on an in-depth analysis of the dataset under certain assumptions.

From Anchors to Answers: A Novel Node Tokenizer for Integrating Graph Structure into Large Language Models

Enabling large language models (LLMs) to effectively process and reason with graph-structured data remains a significant challenge despite their remarkable success in natural language tasks. Current approaches either convert graph structures into verbose textual descriptions, consuming substantial computational resources, or employ complex graph neural networks as tokenizers, which introduce significant training overhead. To bridge this gap, we present NT-LLM, a novel framework with an anchor-based positional encoding scheme for graph representation. Our approach strategically selects reference nodes as anchors and encodes each node's position relative to these anchors, capturing essential topological information without the computational burden of existing methods. Notably, we identify and address a fundamental issue: the inherent misalignment between discrete hop-based distances in graphs and continuous distances in embedding spaces. By implementing a rank-preserving objective for positional encoding pretraining, NT-LLM achieves superior performance across diverse graph tasks ranging from basic structural analysis to complex reasoning scenarios. Our comprehensive evaluation demonstrates that this lightweight yet powerful approach effectively enhances LLMs' ability to understand and reason with graph-structured information, offering an efficient solution for graph-based applications of language models.

Task Indicating Transformer for Task-conditional Dense Predictions

The task-conditional model is a distinctive stream for efficient multi-task learning. Existing works encounter a critical limitation in learning task-agnostic and task-specific representations, primarily due to shortcomings in global context modeling arising from CNN-based architectures, as well as a deficiency in multi-scale feature interaction within the decoder. In this paper, we introduce a novel task-conditional framework called Task Indicating Transformer (TIT) to tackle this challenge. Our approach designs a Mix Task Adapter module within the transformer block, which incorporates a Task Indicating Matrix through matrix decomposition, thereby enhancing long-range dependency modeling and parameter-efficient feature adaptation by capturing intra- and inter-task features. Moreover, we propose a Task Gate Decoder module that harnesses a Task Indicating Vector and gating mechanism to facilitate adaptive multi-scale feature refinement guided by task embeddings. Experiments on two public multi-task dense prediction benchmarks, NYUD-v2 and PASCAL-Context, demonstrate that our approach surpasses state-of-the-art task-conditional methods.

RealUnify: Do Unified Models Truly Benefit from Unification? A Comprehensive Benchmark

The integration of visual understanding and generation into unified multimodal models represents a significant stride toward general-purpose AI. However, a fundamental question remains unanswered by existing benchmarks: does this architectural unification actually enable synergetic interaction between the constituent capabilities? Existing evaluation paradigms, which primarily assess understanding and generation in isolation, are insufficient for determining whether a unified model can leverage its understanding to enhance its generation, or use generative simulation to facilitate deeper comprehension. To address this critical gap, we introduce RealUnify, a benchmark specifically designed to evaluate bidirectional capability synergy. RealUnify comprises 1,000 meticulously human-annotated instances spanning 10 categories and 32 subtasks. It is structured around two core axes: 1) Understanding Enhances Generation, which requires reasoning (e.g., commonsense, logic) to guide image generation, and 2) Generation Enhances Understanding, which necessitates mental simulation or reconstruction (e.g., of transformed or disordered visual inputs) to solve reasoning tasks. A key contribution is our dual-evaluation protocol, which combines direct end-to-end assessment with a diagnostic stepwise evaluation that decomposes tasks into distinct understanding and generation phases. This protocol allows us to precisely discern whether performance bottlenecks stem from deficiencies in core abilities or from a failure to integrate them. Through large-scale evaluations of 12 leading unified models and 6 specialized baselines, we find that current unified models still struggle to achieve effective synergy, indicating that architectural unification alone is insufficient. These results highlight the need for new training strategies and inductive biases to fully unlock the potential of unified modeling.

Dejavu: Post-Deployment Learning for Embodied Agents via Experience Feedback

Embodied agents face a fundamental limitation: once deployed in real-world environments to perform specific tasks, they are unable to acquire new useful knowledge to enhance task performance. In this paper, we propose a general post-deployment learning framework called Dejavu, which employs an Experience Feedback Network (EFN) and augments the frozen Vision-Language-Action (VLA) policy with retrieved execution memories. EFN automatically identifies contextually successful prior action experiences and conditions action prediction on this retrieved guidance. We adopt reinforcement learning with semantic similarity rewards on EFN to ensure that the predicted actions align with past successful behaviors under current observations. During deployment, EFN continually enriches its memory with new trajectories, enabling the agent to exhibit "learning from experience" despite fixed weights. Experiments across diverse embodied tasks show that EFN significantly improves adaptability, robustness, and success rates over frozen baselines. These results highlight a promising path toward embodied agents that continually refine their behavior after deployment.

Towards Safe Reasoning in Large Reasoning Models via Corrective Intervention

Although Large Reasoning Models (LRMs) have progressed in solving complex problems, their chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning often contains harmful content that can persist even when the final responses appear safe. We show that this issue still remains in existing methods which overlook the unique significance of safe reasoning, undermining their trustworthiness and posing potential risks in applications if unsafe reasoning is accessible for and exploited by malicious users. We therefore shift our focus to aligning the safety of reasoning itself in this paper and explore process supervision as the solution. However, simply rewarding safe reasoning proves inadequate due to low rollout diversity and limited training signals. To tackle this challenge, we first delve into the characteristics of safe reasoning and uncover several critical insights that 1) safe reasoning is often consolidated by a few critical steps of safety triggers; 2) compliance cues strongly correlate with unsafe continuations; and 3) corrective interventions reliably steer unsafe trajectories towards safer traces. Motivated by these, we propose Intervened Preference Optimization (IPO), an alignment method that enforces safe reasoning by substituting compliance steps with safety triggers and constructing pairs for preference learning with strong signals. Experiments on jailbreak and adversarial safety benchmarks demonstrate that IPO remarkably improves overall safety regarding both reasoning and responses, outperforming SFT-based and RL-based baselines with a relative reduction of over 30% in harmfulness, while preserving excellent performance across diverse reasoning tasks. The results highlight the importance of explicit alignment for reasoning and provide a practical path to safer LRMs.

Leveraging RAG-LLMs for Urban Mobility Simulation and Analysis

With the rise of smart mobility and shared e-mobility services, numerous advanced technologies have been applied to this field. Cloud-based traffic simulation solutions have flourished, offering increasingly realistic representations of the evolving mobility landscape. LLMs have emerged as pioneering tools, providing robust support for various applications, including intelligent decision-making, user interaction, and real-time traffic analysis. As user demand for e-mobility continues to grow, delivering comprehensive end-to-end solutions has become crucial. In this paper, we present a cloud-based, LLM-powered shared e-mobility platform, integrated with a mobile application for personalized route recommendations. The optimization module is evaluated based on travel time and cost across different traffic scenarios. Additionally, the LLM-powered RAG framework is evaluated at the schema level for different users, using various evaluation methods. Schema-level RAG with XiYanSQL achieves an average execution accuracy of 0.81 on system operator queries and 0.98 on user queries.

LFTF: Locating First and Then Fine-Tuning for Mitigating Gender Bias in Large Language Models

Nowadays, Large Language Models (LLMs) have attracted widespread attention due to their powerful performance. However, due to the unavoidable exposure to socially biased data during training, LLMs tend to exhibit social biases, particularly gender bias. To better explore and quantifying the degree of gender bias in LLMs, we propose a pair of datasets named GenBiasEval and GenHintEval, respectively. The GenBiasEval is responsible for evaluating the degree of gender bias in LLMs, accompanied by an evaluation metric named AFGB-Score (Absolutely Fair Gender Bias Score). Meanwhile, the GenHintEval is used to assess whether LLMs can provide responses consistent with prompts that contain gender hints, along with the accompanying evaluation metric UB-Score (UnBias Score). Besides, in order to mitigate gender bias in LLMs more effectively, we present the LFTF (Locating First and Then Fine-Tuning) algorithm.The algorithm first ranks specific LLM blocks by their relevance to gender bias in descending order using a metric called BMI (Block Mitigating Importance Score). Based on this ranking, the block most strongly associated with gender bias is then fine-tuned using a carefully designed loss function. Numerous experiments have shown that our proposed LFTF algorithm can significantly mitigate gender bias in LLMs while maintaining their general capabilities.

BECAME: BayEsian Continual Learning with Adaptive Model MErging

Continual Learning (CL) strives to learn incrementally across tasks while mitigating catastrophic forgetting. A key challenge in CL is balancing stability (retaining prior knowledge) and plasticity (learning new tasks). While representative gradient projection methods ensure stability, they often limit plasticity. Model merging techniques offer promising solutions, but prior methods typically rely on empirical assumptions and carefully selected hyperparameters. In this paper, we explore the potential of model merging to enhance the stability-plasticity trade-off, providing theoretical insights that underscore its benefits. Specifically, we reformulate the merging mechanism using Bayesian continual learning principles and derive a closed-form solution for the optimal merging coefficient that adapts to the diverse characteristics of tasks. To validate our approach, we introduce a two-stage framework named BECAME, which synergizes the expertise of gradient projection and adaptive merging. Extensive experiments show that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art CL methods and existing merging strategies.

Learning Multiple Representations with Inconsistency-Guided Detail Regularization for Mask-Guided Matting

Mask-guided matting networks have achieved significant improvements and have shown great potential in practical applications in recent years. However, simply learning matting representation from synthetic and lack-of-real-world-diversity matting data, these approaches tend to overfit low-level details in wrong regions, lack generalization to objects with complex structures and real-world scenes such as shadows, as well as suffer from interference of background lines or textures. To address these challenges, in this paper, we propose a novel auxiliary learning framework for mask-guided matting models, incorporating three auxiliary tasks: semantic segmentation, edge detection, and background line detection besides matting, to learn different and effective representations from different types of data and annotations. Our framework and model introduce the following key aspects: (1) to learn real-world adaptive semantic representation for objects with diverse and complex structures under real-world scenes, we introduce extra semantic segmentation and edge detection tasks on more diverse real-world data with segmentation annotations; (2) to avoid overfitting on low-level details, we propose a module to utilize the inconsistency between learned segmentation and matting representations to regularize detail refinement; (3) we propose a novel background line detection task into our auxiliary learning framework, to suppress interference of background lines or textures. In addition, we propose a high-quality matting benchmark, Plant-Mat, to evaluate matting methods on complex structures. Extensively quantitative and qualitative results show that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art mask-guided methods.

Enhancing cross-domain detection: adaptive class-aware contrastive transformer

Recently,the detection transformer has gained substantial attention for its inherent minimal post-processing requirement.However,this paradigm relies on abundant training data,yet in the context of the cross-domain adaptation,insufficient labels in the target domain exacerbate issues of class imbalance and model performance degradation.To address these challenges, we propose a novel class-aware cross domain detection transformer based on the adversarial learning and mean-teacher framework.First,considering the inconsistencies between the classification and regression tasks,we introduce an IoU-aware prediction branch and exploit the consistency of classification and location scores to filter and reweight pseudo labels.Second, we devise a dynamic category threshold refinement to adaptively manage model confidence.Third,to alleviate the class imbalance,an instance-level class-aware contrastive learning module is presented to encourage the generation of discriminative features for each class,particularly benefiting minority classes.Experimental results across diverse domain-adaptive scenarios validate our method's effectiveness in improving performance and alleviating class imbalance issues,which outperforms the state-of-the-art transformer based methods.

FreqNet: A Frequency-domain Image Super-Resolution Network with Dicrete Cosine Transform

Single image super-resolution(SISR) is an ill-posed problem that aims to obtain high-resolution (HR) output from low-resolution (LR) input, during which extra high-frequency information is supposed to be added to improve the perceptual quality. Existing SISR works mainly operate in the spatial domain by minimizing the mean squared reconstruction error. Despite the high peak signal-to-noise ratios(PSNR) results, it is difficult to determine whether the model correctly adds desired high-frequency details. Some residual-based structures are proposed to guide the model to focus on high-frequency features implicitly. However, how to verify the fidelity of those artificial details remains a problem since the interpretation from spatial-domain metrics is limited. In this paper, we propose FreqNet, an intuitive pipeline from the frequency domain perspective, to solve this problem. Inspired by existing frequency-domain works, we convert images into discrete cosine transform (DCT) blocks, then reform them to obtain the DCT feature maps, which serve as the input and target of our model. A specialized pipeline is designed, and we further propose a frequency loss function to fit the nature of our frequency-domain task. Our SISR method in the frequency domain can learn the high-frequency information explicitly, provide fidelity and good perceptual quality for the SR images. We further observe that our model can be merged with other spatial super-resolution models to enhance the quality of their original SR output.

Extracting Attentive Social Temporal Excitation for Sequential Recommendation

In collaborative filtering, it is an important way to make full use of social information to improve the recommendation quality, which has been proved to be effective because user behavior will be affected by her friends. However, existing works leverage the social relationship to aggregate user features from friends' historical behavior sequences in a user-level indirect paradigm. A significant defect of the indirect paradigm is that it ignores the temporal relationships between behavior events across users. In this paper, we propose a novel time-aware sequential recommendation framework called Social Temporal Excitation Networks (STEN), which introduces temporal point processes to model the fine-grained impact of friends' behaviors on the user s dynamic interests in an event-level direct paradigm. Moreover, we propose to decompose the temporal effect in sequential recommendation into social mutual temporal effect and ego temporal effect. Specifically, we employ a social heterogeneous graph embedding layer to refine user representation via structural information. To enhance temporal information propagation, STEN directly extracts the fine-grained temporal mutual influence of friends' behaviors through the mutually exciting temporal network. Besides, the user s dynamic interests are captured through the self-exciting temporal network. Extensive experiments on three real-world datasets show that STEN outperforms state-of-the-art baseline methods. Moreover, STEN provides event-level recommendation explainability, which is also illustrated experimentally.

On Isotropy Calibration of Transformers

Different studies of the embedding space of transformer models suggest that the distribution of contextual representations is highly anisotropic - the embeddings are distributed in a narrow cone. Meanwhile, static word representations (e.g., Word2Vec or GloVe) have been shown to benefit from isotropic spaces. Therefore, previous work has developed methods to calibrate the embedding space of transformers in order to ensure isotropy. However, a recent study (Cai et al. 2021) shows that the embedding space of transformers is locally isotropic, which suggests that these models are already capable of exploiting the expressive capacity of their embedding space. In this work, we conduct an empirical evaluation of state-of-the-art methods for isotropy calibration on transformers and find that they do not provide consistent improvements across models and tasks. These results support the thesis that, given the local isotropy, transformers do not benefit from additional isotropy calibration.

ICPE: An Item Cluster-Wise Pareto-Efficient Framework for Recommendation Debiasing

Recommender system based on historical user-item interactions is of vital importance for web-based services. However, the observed data used to train the recommender model suffers from severe bias issues. Practically, the item frequency distribution of the dataset is a highly skewed power-law distribution. Interactions of a small fraction of head items account for almost the whole training data. The normal training paradigm from such biased data tends to repetitively generate recommendations from the head items, which further exacerbates the biases and affects the exploration of potentially interesting items from the niche set. In this work, we innovatively explore the central theme of recommendation debiasing from an item cluster-wise multi-objective optimization perspective. Aiming to balance the learning on various item clusters that differ in popularity during the training process, we propose a model-agnostic framework namely Item Cluster-Wise Pareto-Efficient Recommendation (ICPE). In detail, we define our item cluster-wise optimization target as the recommender model should balance all item clusters that differ in popularity, thus we set the model learning on each item cluster as a unique optimization objective. To achieve this goal, we first explore items' popularity levels from a novel causal reasoning perspective. Then, we devise popularity discrepancy-based bisecting clustering to separate the item clusters. Next, we adaptively find the overall harmonious gradient direction for cluster-wise optimization objectives from a Pareto-efficient solver. Finally, in the prediction stage, we perform counterfactual inference to further eliminate the impact of global propensity. Extensive experimental results verify the superiorities of ICPE on overall recommendation performance and biases elimination.

DemiNet: Dependency-Aware Multi-Interest Network with Self-Supervised Graph Learning for Click-Through Rate Prediction

In this paper, we propose a novel model named DemiNet (short for DEpendency-Aware Multi-Interest Network) to address the above two issues. To be specific, we first consider various dependency types between item nodes and perform dependency-aware heterogeneous attention for denoising and obtaining accurate sequence item representations. Secondly, for multiple interests extraction, multi-head attention is conducted on top of the graph embedding. To filter out noisy inter-item correlations and enhance the robustness of extracted interests, self-supervised interest learning is introduced to the above two steps. Thirdly, to aggregate the multiple interests, interest experts corresponding to different interest routes give rating scores respectively, while a specialized network assigns the confidence of each score. Experimental results on three real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed DemiNet significantly improves the overall recommendation performance over several state-of-the-art baselines. Further studies verify the efficacy and interpretability benefits brought by the fine-grained user interest modeling.

Adversarial and Contrastive Variational Autoencoder for Sequential Recommendation

Sequential recommendation as an emerging topic has attracted increasing attention due to its important practical significance. Models based on deep learning and attention mechanism have achieved good performance in sequential recommendation. Recently, the generative models based on Variational Autoencoder (VAE) have shown the unique advantage in collaborative filtering. In particular, the sequential VAE model as a recurrent version of VAE can effectively capture temporal dependencies among items in user sequence and perform sequential recommendation. However, VAE-based models suffer from a common limitation that the representational ability of the obtained approximate posterior distribution is limited, resulting in lower quality of generated samples. This is especially true for generating sequences. To solve the above problem, in this work, we propose a novel method called Adversarial and Contrastive Variational Autoencoder (ACVAE) for sequential recommendation. Specifically, we first introduce the adversarial training for sequence generation under the Adversarial Variational Bayes (AVB) framework, which enables our model to generate high-quality latent variables. Then, we employ the contrastive loss. The latent variables will be able to learn more personalized and salient characteristics by minimizing the contrastive loss. Besides, when encoding the sequence, we apply a recurrent and convolutional structure to capture global and local relationships in the sequence. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments on four real-world datasets. The experimental results show that our proposed ACVAE model outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.
