OPE-SR: Orthogonal Position Encoding for Designing a Parameter-free Upsampling Module in Arbitrary-scale Image Super-ResolutionGaochao Song, Luo Zhang, Ran Su et al.
Implicit neural representation (INR) is a popular approach for arbitrary-scale image super-resolution (SR), as a key component of INR, position encoding improves its representation ability. Motivated by position encoding, we propose orthogonal position encoding (OPE) - an extension of position encoding - and an OPE-Upscale module to replace the INR-based upsampling module for arbitrary-scale image super-resolution. Same as INR, our OPE-Upscale Module takes 2D coordinates and latent code as inputs; however it does not require training parameters. This parameter-free feature allows the OPE-Upscale Module to directly perform linear combination operations to reconstruct an image in a continuous manner, achieving an arbitrary-scale image reconstruction. As a concise SR framework, our method has high computing efficiency and consumes less memory comparing to the state-of-the-art (SOTA), which has been confirmed by extensive experiments and evaluations. In addition, our method has comparable results with SOTA in arbitrary scale image super-resolution. Last but not the least, we show that OPE corresponds to a set of orthogonal basis, justifying our design principle.

3D Skew Gaussian Splatting with Any Camera Trajectory Visualization EngineBeizhen Zhao, Yifan Zhou, Gaochao Song et al.
While 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has revolutionized real-time photorealistic view synthesis, its fundamental reliance on symmetric Gaussian distributions introduces visual artifacts that hinder accurate spatial data exploration. Specifically, symmetric kernels struggle to capture shape and color discontinuities , which cause blurriness and primitive redundancy that mislead human perception during visual analysis. To address these visualization barriers, we introduce 3D Skew Gaussian Splatting (3DSGS), a novel framework that significantly enhances the structural fidelity and compactness of explicit scene representations. Our key insight lies in extending the standard primitive to a general Skew Gaussian counterpart. This generalized primitive inherits the highly efficient rasterization properties of standard Gaussians while gaining intrinsic asymmetric modeling capabilities. We couple this with an enhanced opacity representation to better handle complex transparency, alongside a depth-aware densification strategy that intelligently manages primitive allocation. Furthermore, to make these advancements actionable for real-world visual analytics, we re-derive the CUDA rasterization pipeline to universally support both symmetric and skew Gaussians, integrating it into a decoupled, free-camera interactive visualization engine. Extensive experiments demonstrate that 3DSGS achieves superior rendering quality and structural compactness, particularly in regions with intricate details, while maintaining the real-time frame rates necessary for fluid interactive exploration. Mesh BDF: Barycentric Dominance Field for 3D Native Mesh GenerationGaochao Song, Haohan Weng, Luo Zhang et al.
Autoregressive (AR) modeling has recently achieved remarkable progress in native 3D mesh generation, largely due to its natural ability to handle variable-length, discrete data structures. However, the inherent constraints of the AR paradigm severely restrict the generated meshes, leading to limited face counts, bounded vertex resolutions, and difficulties in supporting textures. To overcome these bottlenecks, we propose the Barycentric Dominance Field (BDF), a continuous representation defined on triangular mesh surfaces that elegantly encodes vertex topological connectivity. BDF bridges the fundamental gap between discrete mesh topology and continuous diffusion-based generative modeling by transforming connectivity into a continuous surface signal. As an intrinsic mesh property, BDF shares strong similarities with texture maps, enabling its seamless integration into existing 3D diffusion pipelines without requiring architectural modifications. Extensive experiments demonstrate that BDF empowers diffusion models to generate native meshes with significantly higher quality, greater scalability, and stronger robustness compared to state-of-the-art autoregressive methods.

GVKF: Gaussian Voxel Kernel Functions for Highly Efficient Surface Reconstruction in Open ScenesGaochao Song, Chong Cheng, Hao Wang
In this paper we present a novel method for efficient and effective 3D surface reconstruction in open scenes. Existing Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) based works typically require extensive training and rendering time due to the adopted implicit representations. In contrast, 3D Gaussian splatting (3DGS) uses an explicit and discrete representation, hence the reconstructed surface is built by the huge number of Gaussian primitives, which leads to excessive memory consumption and rough surface details in sparse Gaussian areas. To address these issues, we propose Gaussian Voxel Kernel Functions (GVKF), which establish a continuous scene representation based on discrete 3DGS through kernel regression. The GVKF integrates fast 3DGS rasterization and highly effective scene implicit representations, achieving high-fidelity open scene surface reconstruction. Experiments on challenging scene datasets demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our proposed GVKF, featuring with high reconstruction quality, real-time rendering speed, significant savings in storage and training memory consumption.

Graph-Guided Scene Reconstruction from Images with 3D Gaussian SplattingChong Cheng, Gaochao Song, Yiyang Yao et al.
This paper investigates an open research challenge of reconstructing high-quality, large 3D open scenes from images. It is observed existing methods have various limitations, such as requiring precise camera poses for input and dense viewpoints for supervision. To perform effective and efficient 3D scene reconstruction, we propose a novel graph-guided 3D scene reconstruction framework, GraphGS. Specifically, given a set of images captured by RGB cameras on a scene, we first design a spatial prior-based scene structure estimation method. This is then used to create a camera graph that includes information about the camera topology. Further, we propose to apply the graph-guided multi-view consistency constraint and adaptive sampling strategy to the 3D Gaussian Splatting optimization process. This greatly alleviates the issue of Gaussian points overfitting to specific sparse viewpoints and expedites the 3D reconstruction process. We demonstrate GraphGS achieves high-fidelity 3D reconstruction from images, which presents state-of-the-art performance through quantitative and qualitative evaluation across multiple datasets.
