Multiple Object Tracking in Video SAR: A Benchmark and Tracking BaselineHaoxiang Chen, Wei Zhao, Rufei Zhang et al.
In the context of multi-object tracking using video synthetic aperture radar (Video SAR), Doppler shifts induced by target motion result in artifacts that are easily mistaken for shadows caused by static occlusions. Moreover, appearance changes of the target caused by Doppler mismatch may lead to association failures and disrupt trajectory continuity. A major limitation in this field is the lack of public benchmark datasets for standardized algorithm evaluation. To address the above challenges, we collected and annotated 45 video SAR sequences containing moving targets, and named the Video SAR MOT Benchmark (VSMB). Specifically, to mitigate the effects of trailing and defocusing in moving targets, we introduce a line feature enhancement mechanism that emphasizes the positive role of motion shadows and reduces false alarms induced by static occlusions. In addition, to mitigate the adverse effects of target appearance variations, we propose a motion-aware clue discarding mechanism that substantially improves tracking robustness in Video SAR. The proposed model achieves state-of-the-art performance on the VSMB, and the dataset and model are released at https://github.com/softwarePupil/VSMB.
AP-10K: A Benchmark for Animal Pose Estimation in the WildHang Yu, Yufei Xu, Jing Zhang et al.
Accurate animal pose estimation is an essential step towards understanding animal behavior, and can potentially benefit many downstream applications, such as wildlife conservation. Previous works only focus on specific animals while ignoring the diversity of animal species, limiting the generalization ability. In this paper, we propose AP-10K, the first large-scale benchmark for mammal animal pose estimation, to facilitate the research in animal pose estimation. AP-10K consists of 10,015 images collected and filtered from 23 animal families and 54 species following the taxonomic rank and high-quality keypoint annotations labeled and checked manually. Based on AP-10K, we benchmark representative pose estimation models on the following three tracks: (1) supervised learning for animal pose estimation, (2) cross-domain transfer learning from human pose estimation to animal pose estimation, and (3) intra- and inter-family domain generalization for unseen animals. The experimental results provide sound empirical evidence on the superiority of learning from diverse animals species in terms of both accuracy and generalization ability. It opens new directions for facilitating future research in animal pose estimation. AP-10k is publicly available at https://github.com/AlexTheBad/AP10K.

MoverScore: Text Generation Evaluating with Contextualized Embeddings and Earth Mover DistanceWei Zhao, Maxime Peyrard, Fei Liu et al.
A robust evaluation metric has a profound impact on the development of text generation systems. A desirable metric compares system output against references based on their semantics rather than surface forms. In this paper we investigate strategies to encode system and reference texts to devise a metric that shows a high correlation with human judgment of text quality. We validate our new metric, namely MoverScore, on a number of text generation tasks including summarization, machine translation, image captioning, and data-to-text generation, where the outputs are produced by a variety of neural and non-neural systems. Our findings suggest that metrics combining contextualized representations with a distance measure perform the best. Such metrics also demonstrate strong generalization capability across tasks. For ease-of-use we make our metrics available as web service.

Fast Dynamic Routing Based on Weighted Kernel Density EstimationSuofei Zhang, Wei Zhao, Xiaofu Wu et al.
Capsules as well as dynamic routing between them are most recently proposed structures for deep neural networks. A capsule groups data into vectors or matrices as poses rather than conventional scalars to represent specific properties of target instance. Besides of pose, a capsule should be attached with a probability (often denoted as activation) for its presence. The dynamic routing helps capsules achieve more generalization capacity with many fewer model parameters. However, the bottleneck that prevents widespread applications of capsule is the expense of computation during routing. To address this problem, we generalize existing routing methods within the framework of weighted kernel density estimation, and propose two fast routing methods with different optimization strategies. Our methods prompt the time efficiency of routing by nearly 40\% with negligible performance degradation. By stacking a hybrid of convolutional layers and capsule layers, we construct a network architecture to handle inputs at a resolution of $64\times{64}$ pixels. The proposed models achieve a parallel performance with other leading methods in multiple benchmarks.

Security Consideration For Deep Learning-Based Image ForensicsWei Zhao, Pengpeng Yang, Rongrong Ni et al.
Recently, image forensics community has paied attention to the research on the design of effective algorithms based on deep learning technology and facts proved that combining the domain knowledge of image forensics and deep learning would achieve more robust and better performance than the traditional schemes. Instead of improving it, in this paper, the safety of deep learning based methods in the field of image forensics is taken into account. To the best of our knowledge, this is a first work focusing on this topic. Specifically, we experimentally find that the method using deep learning would fail when adding the slight noise into the images (adversarial images). Furthermore, two kinds of strategys are proposed to enforce security of deep learning-based method. Firstly, an extra penalty term to the loss function is added, which is referred to the 2-norm of the gradient of the loss with respect to the input images, and then an novel training method are adopt to train the model by fusing the normal and adversarial images. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve good performance even in the case of adversarial images and provide a safety consideration for deep learning-based image forensics

Source Camera Identification Based On Content-Adaptive Fusion NetworkPengpeng Yang, Wei Zhao, Rongrong Ni et al.
Source camera identification is still a hard task in forensics community, especially for the case of the small query image size. In this paper, we propose a solution to identify the source camera of the small-size images: content-adaptive fusion network. In order to learn better feature representation from the input data, content-adaptive convolutional neural networks(CA-CNN) are constructed. We add a convolutional layer in preprocessing stage. Moreover, with the purpose of capturing more comprehensive information, we parallel three CA-CNNs: CA3-CNN, CA5-CNN, CA7-CNN to get the content-adaptive fusion network. The difference of three CA-CNNs lies in the convolutional kernel size of pre-processing layer. The experimental results show that the proposed method is practicable and satisfactory.
