EvalVerse: Pipeline-Aware and Expert-Calibrated Benchmarking for Professional Cinematic Video GenerationSonglin Yang, Haobin Zhong, Ruilin Zhang et al.
The rapid evolution of generative video foundation models has propelled the field toward professional-grade cinematic synthesis. To achieve such demanding quality, the community transitions towards Reinforcement Learning (RL) and agentic workflows. However, reliable evaluation has emerged as a critical bottleneck. Existing benchmarks predominantly evaluate ''whether it is right'' (basic prompt-following) while fundamentally neglecting ''whether it is good'' (cinematic quality, acting, and aesthetics). Furthermore, current automated metrics lack the domain-specific rigor required to provide trustworthy signals, creating a severe credibility gap between human aesthetic perception and machine scoring. To bridge this gap, we introduce EvalVerse, a comprehensive, pipeline-aware, and expert-calibrated evaluation framework. We treat video generation assessment not merely as an engineering task, but as a core scientific problem: the systematic digitization of subjective cinematic expertise. First, we organize domain knowledge into an evaluation taxonomy aligned with the professional filmmaking workflow (pre-production, production, and post-production). Second, we distill human expert judgments into a curated dataset with large-scale human annotations. Third, we inject this knowledge into Vision-Language Models (VLMs) through an expert-calibrated fine-tuning strategy, enabling the VLM to perform explicit Chain-of-Thought reasoning. Compared to previous works, EvalVerse not only retains compatibility with foundational ''rightness'' metrics, but also significantly expands the criteria to ''goodness'' and broaden the task coverage to complex multi-shot sequencing and audio-visual integration. Consequently, by providing granular diagnostic signals, EvalVerse transcends a static leaderboard and establishes a fundamental infrastructure for future work, such as reward models and evaluator agent.

VGA-Bench: A Unified Benchmark and Multi-Model Framework for Video Aesthetics and Generation Quality EvaluationLongteng Jiang, DanDan Zheng, Qianqian Qiao et al.
The rapid advancement of AIGC-based video generation has underscored the critical need for comprehensive evaluation frameworks that go beyond traditional generation quality metrics to encompass aesthetic appeal. However, existing benchmarks remain largely focused on technical fidelity, leaving a significant gap in holistic assessment-particularly with respect to perceptual and artistic qualities. To address this limitation, we introduce VGA-Bench, a unified benchmark for joint evaluation of video generation quality and aesthetic quality. VGA-Bench is built upon a principled three-tier taxonomy: Aesthetic Quality, Aesthetic Tagging, and Generation Quality, each decomposed into multiple fine-grained sub-dimensions to enable systematic assessment. Guided by this taxonomy, we design 1,016 diverse prompts and generate a large-scale dataset of over 60,000 videos using 12 video generation models, ensuring broad coverage across content, style, and artifacts. To enable scalable and automated evaluation, we annotate a subset of the dataset via human labeling and develop three dedicated multi-task neural assessors: VAQA-Net for aesthetic quality prediction, VTag-Net for automatic aesthetic tagging, and VGQA-Net for generation and basic quality attributes. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our models achieve reliable alignment with human judgments, offering both accuracy and efficiency. We release VGA-Bench as a public benchmark to foster research in AIGC evaluation, with applications in content moderation, model debugging, and generative model optimization.

VADB: A Large-Scale Video Aesthetic Database with Professional and Multi-Dimensional AnnotationsQianqian Qiao, DanDan Zheng, Yihang Bo et al.
Video aesthetic assessment, a vital area in multimedia computing, integrates computer vision with human cognition. Its progress is limited by the lack of standardized datasets and robust models, as the temporal dynamics of video and multimodal fusion challenges hinder direct application of image-based methods. This study introduces VADB, the largest video aesthetic database with 10,490 diverse videos annotated by 37 professionals across multiple aesthetic dimensions, including overall and attribute-specific aesthetic scores, rich language comments and objective tags. We propose VADB-Net, a dual-modal pre-training framework with a two-stage training strategy, which outperforms existing video quality assessment models in scoring tasks and supports downstream video aesthetic assessment tasks.
