Cosmos 3: Omnimodal World Models for Physical AIAditi, Niket Agarwal, Arslan Ali et al.
We introduce Cosmos 3, a family of omnimodal world models designed to jointly process and generate language, image, video, audio, and action sequences within a unified mixture-of-transformers architecture. By supporting highly flexible input-output configurations, Cosmos 3 seamlessly unifies critical modalities for Physical AI -- effectively subsuming vision-language models, video generators, world simulators, and world-action models into a single framework. Our evaluation demonstrates that Cosmos 3 establishes a new state-of-the-art across a diverse suite of understanding and generation tasks, demonstrating omnimodal world models as scalable, general-purpose backbones for embodied agents. Our post-trained Cosmos 3 models were ranked as the best open-source Text-to-Image and Image-to-Video models by Artificial Analysis, and the best policy model by RoboArena at the time the technical report was written. RoboLab: A High-Fidelity Simulation Benchmark for Analysis of Task Generalist PoliciesXuning Yang, Rishit Dagli, Alex Zook et al. · nvidia
The pursuit of general-purpose robotics has yielded impressive foundation models, yet simulation-based benchmarking remains a bottleneck due to rapid performance saturation and a lack of true generalization testing. Existing benchmarks often exhibit significant domain overlap between training and evaluation, trivializing success rates and obscuring insights into robustness. We introduce RoboLab, a simulation benchmarking framework designed to address these challenges. Concretely, our framework is designed to answer two questions: (1) to what extent can we understand the performance of a real-world policy by analyzing its behavior in simulation, and (2) which external factors most strongly affect that behavior under controlled perturbations. First, RoboLab enables human-authored and LLM-enabled generation of scenes and tasks in a robot- and policy-agnostic manner within a physically realistic and photorealistic simulation. With this, we propose the RoboLab-120 benchmark, consisting of 120 tasks categorized into three competency axes: visual, procedural, relational competency, across three difficulty levels. Second, we introduce a systematic analysis of real-world policies that quantify both their performance and the sensitivity of their behavior to controlled perturbations, indicating that high-fidelity simulation can serve as a proxy for analyzing performance and its dependence on external factors. Evaluation with RoboLab exposes significant performance gap in current state-of-the-art models. By providing granular metrics and a scalable toolset, RoboLab offers a scalable framework for evaluating the true generalization capabilities of task-generalist robotic policies.

Inference-Time Policy Steering through Human InteractionsYanwei Wang, Lirui Wang, Yilun Du et al.
Generative policies trained with human demonstrations can autonomously accomplish multimodal, long-horizon tasks. However, during inference, humans are often removed from the policy execution loop, limiting the ability to guide a pre-trained policy towards a specific sub-goal or trajectory shape among multiple predictions. Naive human intervention may inadvertently exacerbate distribution shift, leading to constraint violations or execution failures. To better align policy output with human intent without inducing out-of-distribution errors, we propose an Inference-Time Policy Steering (ITPS) framework that leverages human interactions to bias the generative sampling process, rather than fine-tuning the policy on interaction data. We evaluate ITPS across three simulated and real-world benchmarks, testing three forms of human interaction and associated alignment distance metrics. Among six sampling strategies, our proposed stochastic sampling with diffusion policy achieves the best trade-off between alignment and distribution shift. RoboArena: Distributed Real-World Evaluation of Generalist Robot PoliciesPranav Atreya, Karl Pertsch, Tony Lee et al. · nvidia
Comprehensive, unbiased, and comparable evaluation of modern generalist policies is uniquely challenging: existing approaches for robot benchmarking typically rely on heavy standardization, either by specifying fixed evaluation tasks and environments, or by hosting centralized ''robot challenges'', and do not readily scale to evaluating generalist policies across a broad range of tasks and environments. In this work, we propose RoboArena, a new approach for scalable evaluation of generalist robot policies in the real world. Instead of standardizing evaluations around fixed tasks, environments, or locations, we propose to crowd-source evaluations across a distributed network of evaluators. Importantly, evaluators can freely choose the tasks and environments they evaluate on, enabling easy scaling of diversity, but they are required to perform double-blind evaluations over pairs of policies. Then, by aggregating preference feedback from pairwise comparisons across diverse tasks and environments, we can derive a ranking of policies. We instantiate our approach across a network of evaluators at seven academic institutions using the DROID robot platform. Through more than 600 pairwise real-robot evaluation episodes across seven generalist policies, we demonstrate that our crowd-sourced approach can more accurately rank the performance of existing generalist policies than conventional, centralized evaluation approaches, while being more scalable, resilient, and trustworthy. We open our evaluation network to the community and hope that it can enable more accessible comparisons of generalist robot policies.

VLA-0: Building State-of-the-Art VLAs with Zero ModificationAnkit Goyal, Hugo Hadfield, Xuning Yang et al. · nvidia
Vision-Language-Action models (VLAs) hold immense promise for enabling generalist robot manipulation. However, the best way to build them remains an open question. Current approaches often add complexity, such as modifying the existing vocabulary of a Vision-Language Model (VLM) with action tokens or introducing special action heads. Curiously, the simplest strategy of representing actions directly as text has remained largely unexplored. This work introduces VLA-0 to investigate this idea. We find that VLA-0 is not only effective; it is surprisingly powerful. With the right design, VLA-0 outperforms more involved models. On LIBERO, a popular benchmark for evaluating VLAs, VLA-0 outperforms all existing methods trained on the same robotic data, including $π_0.5$-KI, OpenVLA-OFT and SmolVLA. Furthermore, without large-scale robotics-specific training, it outperforms methods trained on large-scale robotic data, like $π_0.5$-KI, $π_0$, GR00T-N1 and MolmoAct. These findings also translate to the real world, where VLA-0 outperforms SmolVLA, a VLA model pre-trained on large-scale real data. This paper summarizes our unexpected findings and spells out the specific techniques required to unlock the high performance of this simple yet potent VLA design. Learning to Plan & Schedule with Reinforcement-Learned Bimanual Robot SkillsWeikang Wan, Fabio Ramos, Xuning Yang et al. · mit
Long-horizon contact-rich bimanual manipulation presents a significant challenge, requiring complex coordination involving a mixture of parallel execution and sequential collaboration between arms. In this paper, we introduce a hierarchical framework that frames this challenge as an integrated skill planning & scheduling problem, going beyond purely sequential decision-making to support simultaneous skill invocation. Our approach is built upon a library of single-arm and bimanual primitive skills, each trained using Reinforcement Learning (RL) in GPU-accelerated simulation. We then train a Transformer-based planner on a dataset of skill compositions to act as a high-level scheduler, simultaneously predicting the discrete schedule of skills as well as their continuous parameters. We demonstrate that our method achieves higher success rates on complex, contact-rich tasks than end-to-end RL approaches and produces more efficient, coordinated behaviors than traditional sequential-only planners.

Fast and Agile Vision-Based Flight with Teleoperation and Collision Avoidance on a MultirotorAlex Spitzer, Xuning Yang, John Yao et al.
We present a multirotor architecture capable of aggressive autonomous flight and collision-free teleoperation in unstructured, GPS-denied environments. The proposed system enables aggressive and safe autonomous flight around clutter by integrating recent advancements in visual-inertial state estimation and teleoperation. Our teleoperation framework maps user inputs onto smooth and dynamically feasible motion primitives. Collision-free trajectories are ensured by querying a locally consistent map that is incrementally constructed from forward-facing depth observations. Our system enables a non-expert operator to safely navigate a multirotor around obstacles at speeds of 10 m/s. We achieve autonomous flights at speeds exceeding 12 m/s and accelerations exceeding 12 m/s^2 in a series of outdoor field experiments that validate our approach.
