Deck.gl: Large-scale Web-based Visual Analytics Made Easy

Yang Wang

In this paper, we demonstrate how deck.gl, an open-source project born out of data-heavy visual analytics applications, has grown into the robust visualization framework it is today. We begin by explaining why we built another data visualization framework in the first place. Then, we summarize our design goals (distilled from our interactions with users) and discuss how they guided the development of the framework's main features. We use two real-world applications of deck.gl to showcase how it can be applied to simplify the creation of data-heavy visualizations. We also discuss our lessons learned as we continue to improve the framework for the larger visualization community.

Humanoid Occupancy: Enabling A Generalized Multimodal Occupancy Perception System on Humanoid Robots

Wei Cui, Haoyu Wang, Wenkang Qin et al.

Humanoid robot technology is advancing rapidly, with manufacturers introducing diverse heterogeneous visual perception modules tailored to specific scenarios. Among various perception paradigms, occupancy-based representation has become widely recognized as particularly suitable for humanoid robots, as it provides both rich semantic and 3D geometric information essential for comprehensive environmental understanding. In this work, we present Humanoid Occupancy, a generalized multimodal occupancy perception system that integrates hardware and software components, data acquisition devices, and a dedicated annotation pipeline. Our framework employs advanced multi-modal fusion techniques to generate grid-based occupancy outputs encoding both occupancy status and semantic labels, thereby enabling holistic environmental understanding for downstream tasks such as task planning and navigation. To address the unique challenges of humanoid robots, we overcome issues such as kinematic interference and occlusion, and establish an effective sensor layout strategy. Furthermore, we have developed the first panoramic occupancy dataset specifically for humanoid robots, offering a valuable benchmark and resource for future research and development in this domain. The network architecture incorporates multi-modal feature fusion and temporal information integration to ensure robust perception. Overall, Humanoid Occupancy delivers effective environmental perception for humanoid robots and establishes a technical foundation for standardizing universal visual modules, paving the way for the widespread deployment of humanoid robots in complex real-world scenarios.

MDE-Edit: Masked Dual-Editing for Multi-Object Image Editing via Diffusion Models

Hongyang Zhu, Haipeng Liu, Bo Fu et al.

Multi-object editing aims to modify multiple objects or regions in complex scenes while preserving structural coherence. This task faces significant challenges in scenarios involving overlapping or interacting objects: (1) Inaccurate localization of target objects due to attention misalignment, leading to incomplete or misplaced edits; (2) Attribute-object mismatch, where color or texture changes fail to align with intended regions due to cross-attention leakage, creating semantic conflicts (\textit{e.g.}, color bleeding into non-target areas). Existing methods struggle with these challenges: approaches relying on global cross-attention mechanisms suffer from attention dilution and spatial interference between objects, while mask-based methods fail to bind attributes to geometrically accurate regions due to feature entanglement in multi-object scenarios. To address these limitations, we propose a training-free, inference-stage optimization approach that enables precise localized image manipulation in complex multi-object scenes, named MDE-Edit. MDE-Edit optimizes the noise latent feature in diffusion models via two key losses: Object Alignment Loss (OAL) aligns multi-layer cross-attention with segmentation masks for precise object positioning, and Color Consistency Loss (CCL) amplifies target attribute attention within masks while suppressing leakage to adjacent regions. This dual-loss design ensures localized and coherent multi-object edits. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MDE-Edit outperforms state-of-the-art methods in editing accuracy and visual quality, offering a robust solution for complex multi-object image manipulation tasks.

Talk2Image: A Multi-Agent System for Multi-Turn Image Generation and Editing

Shichao Ma, Yunhe Guo, Jiahao Su et al.

Text-to-image generation tasks have driven remarkable advances in diverse media applications, yet most focus on single-turn scenarios and struggle with iterative, multi-turn creative tasks. Recent dialogue-based systems attempt to bridge this gap, but their single-agent, sequential paradigm often causes intention drift and incoherent edits. To address these limitations, we present Talk2Image, a novel multi-agent system for interactive image generation and editing in multi-turn dialogue scenarios. Our approach integrates three key components: intention parsing from dialogue history, task decomposition and collaborative execution across specialized agents, and feedback-driven refinement based on a multi-view evaluation mechanism. Talk2Image enables step-by-step alignment with user intention and consistent image editing. Experiments demonstrate that Talk2Image outperforms existing baselines in controllability, coherence, and user satisfaction across iterative image generation and editing tasks.

Advancing DRL Agents in Commercial Fighting Games: Training, Integration, and Agent-Human Alignment

Chen Zhang, Qiang He, Zhou Yuan et al.

Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) agents have demonstrated impressive success in a wide range of game genres. However, existing research primarily focuses on optimizing DRL competence rather than addressing the challenge of prolonged player interaction. In this paper, we propose a practical DRL agent system for fighting games named Shūkai, which has been successfully deployed to Naruto Mobile, a popular fighting game with over 100 million registered users. Shūkai quantifies the state to enhance generalizability, introducing Heterogeneous League Training (HELT) to achieve balanced competence, generalizability, and training efficiency. Furthermore, Shūkai implements specific rewards to align the agent's behavior with human expectations. Shūkai's ability to generalize is demonstrated by its consistent competence across all characters, even though it was trained on only 13% of them. Additionally, HELT exhibits a remarkable 22% improvement in sample efficiency. Shūkai serves as a valuable training partner for players in Naruto Mobile, enabling them to enhance their abilities and skills.
