A Voxel-Based Quantum Computing Method (VBQC) for Solid Mechanics Problem

Quantum computing presents a promising method to overcome the efficiency and memory constraints in large-scale mechanical problems, with numerous successful applications demonstrated in fluid mechanics. However, solid mechanics problems usually require irregular grids for spatial discretization, due to the Lagrange formulations and complex boundaries, which makes the quantum simulation of the system matrix, e.g., the mass or stiffness matrix which is often referred to as the Hamiltonian in quantum computing, difficult to be effectively conducted. This study proposes a voxel-based quantum computing method (VBQC) for the quantum simulation of Hamiltonians in solid mechanics. VBQC applies voxel grids to discretize the spatial domain, thereby enabling the system matrix to exhibit the tridiagonal fractal property. Based on this property, the system matrix can be decomposed into three groups of fundamental matrices, $\mathbf{k}_{n}$, $\mathbf{c}_{n}$, and $\mathbf{q}_{n}$. This decomposition process is referred to as the KCQ decomposition. By integrating the KCQ decomposition with the quantum Fourier transform and the quantum multiplexer, VBQC enables efficient quantum simulation of Hamiltonians in solid mechanics. Three specific solid problems with different dimensions and numbers of variables are applied to preliminarily verify the correctness of the proposed VBQC for solid mechanics problems.

Physiology-Aware Masked Cross-Modal Reconstruction for Biosignal Representation Learning

Biosignals acquired from different locations on the body often provide temporally ordered views of the same underlying physiological process. However, most existing self supervised learning methods treat these signals as interchangeable views, overlooking the directional temporal dynamics that link them. A canonical example is the relationship between electrocardiography (ECG), which captures the electrical activation initiating each heartbeat, and photoplethysmography (PPG), which records the resulting peripheral pulse delayed by vascular dynamics. To capture this structured relationship, we introduce xMAE, a biosignal pretraining framework that leverages masked cross modal reconstruction across temporally ordered biosignals as a training time constraint to encourage physiologically meaningful timing structure in the learned representations. We show that pretraining with xMAE yields representations that outperform both unimodal and multimodal baselines on 15 of 19 downstream tasks, including cardiovascular outcome prediction, abnormal laboratory test detection, sleep staging, and demographic inference, while generalizing across devices, body locations, and acquisition settings. Further analysis suggests that the ECG PPG timing structure is reflected in the learned PPG representations. More broadly, xMAE demonstrates the effectiveness of incorporating temporal structure into multimodal pretraining when signals observe different stages of a shared underlying process. CodeScope: An Execution-based Multilingual Multitask Multidimensional Benchmark for Evaluating LLMs on Code Understanding and Generation

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable performance on assisting humans in programming and facilitating programming automation. However, existing benchmarks for evaluating the code understanding and generation capacities of LLMs suffer from severe limitations. First, most benchmarks are insufficient as they focus on a narrow range of popular programming languages and specific tasks, whereas real-world software development scenarios show a critical need to implement systems with multilingual and multitask programming environments to satisfy diverse requirements. Second, most benchmarks fail to consider the actual executability and the consistency of execution results of the generated code. To bridge these gaps between existing benchmarks and expectations from practical applications, we introduce CodeScope, an execution-based, multilingual, multitask, multidimensional evaluation benchmark for comprehensively measuring LLM capabilities on coding tasks. CodeScope covers 43 programming languages and eight coding tasks. It evaluates the coding performance of LLMs from three dimensions (perspectives): length, difficulty, and efficiency. To facilitate execution-based evaluations of code generation, we develop MultiCodeEngine, an automated code execution engine that supports 14 programming languages. Finally, we systematically evaluate and analyze eight mainstream LLMs and demonstrate the superior breadth and challenges of CodeScope for evaluating LLMs on code understanding and generation tasks compared to other benchmarks. Towards Unified Text-based Person Retrieval: A Large-scale Multi-Attribute and Language Search Benchmark

In this paper, we introduce a large Multi-Attribute and Language Search dataset for text-based person retrieval, called MALS, and explore the feasibility of performing pre-training on both attribute recognition and image-text matching tasks in one stone. In particular, MALS contains 1,510,330 image-text pairs, which is about 37.5 times larger than prevailing CUHK-PEDES, and all images are annotated with 27 attributes. Considering the privacy concerns and annotation costs, we leverage the off-the-shelf diffusion models to generate the dataset. To verify the feasibility of learning from the generated data, we develop a new joint Attribute Prompt Learning and Text Matching Learning (APTM) framework, considering the shared knowledge between attribute and text. As the name implies, APTM contains an attribute prompt learning stream and a text matching learning stream. (1) The attribute prompt learning leverages the attribute prompts for image-attribute alignment, which enhances the text matching learning. (2) The text matching learning facilitates the representation learning on fine-grained details, and in turn, boosts the attribute prompt learning. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of the pre-training on MALS, achieving state-of-the-art retrieval performance via APTM on three challenging real-world benchmarks. In particular, APTM achieves a consistent improvement of +6.96%, +7.68%, and +16.95% Recall@1 accuracy on CUHK-PEDES, ICFG-PEDES, and RSTPReid datasets by a clear margin, respectively.

Progressive Glass Segmentation

Glass is very common in the real world. Influenced by the uncertainty about the glass region and the varying complex scenes behind the glass, the existence of glass poses severe challenges to many computer vision tasks, making glass segmentation as an important computer vision task. Glass does not have its own visual appearances but only transmit/reflect the appearances of its surroundings, making it fundamentally different from other common objects. To address such a challenging task, existing methods typically explore and combine useful cues from different levels of features in the deep network. As there exists a characteristic gap between level-different features, i.e., deep layer features embed more high-level semantics and are better at locating the target objects while shallow layer features have larger spatial sizes and keep richer and more detailed low-level information, fusing these features naively thus would lead to a sub-optimal solution. In this paper, we approach the effective features fusion towards accurate glass segmentation in two steps. First, we attempt to bridge the characteristic gap between different levels of features by developing a Discriminability Enhancement (DE) module which enables level-specific features to be a more discriminative representation, alleviating the features incompatibility for fusion. Second, we design a Focus-and-Exploration Based Fusion (FEBF) module to richly excavate useful information in the fusion process by highlighting the common and exploring the difference between level-different features.

Task-Specific Alignment and Multiple Level Transformer for Few-Shot Action Recognition

In the research field of few-shot learning, the main difference between image-based and video-based is the additional temporal dimension. In recent years, some works have used the Transformer to deal with frames, then get the attention feature and the enhanced prototype, and the results are competitive. However, some video frames may relate little to the action, and only using single frame-level or segment-level features may not mine enough information. We address these problems sequentially through an end-to-end method named "Task-Specific Alignment and Multiple-level Transformer Network (TSA-MLT)". The first module (TSA) aims at filtering the action-irrelevant frames for action duration alignment. Affine Transformation for frame sequence in the time dimension is used for linear sampling. The second module (MLT) focuses on the Multiple-level feature of the support prototype and query sample to mine more information for the alignment, which operates on different level features. We adopt a fusion loss according to a fusion distance that fuses the L2 sequence distance, which focuses on temporal order alignment, and the Optimal Transport distance, which focuses on measuring the gap between the appearance and semantics of the videos. Extensive experiments show our method achieves state-of-the-art results on the HMDB51 and UCF101 datasets and a competitive result on the benchmark of Kinetics and something 2-something V2 datasets. DMSD-CDFSAR: Distillation from Mixed-Source Domain for Cross-Domain Few-shot Action Recognition

Few-shot action recognition is an emerging field in computer vision, primarily focused on meta-learning within the same domain. However, challenges arise in real-world scenario deployment, as gathering extensive labeled data within a specific domain is laborious and time-intensive. Thus, attention shifts towards cross-domain few-shot action recognition, requiring the model to generalize across domains with significant deviations. Therefore, we propose a novel approach, ``Distillation from Mixed-Source Domain", tailored to address this conundrum. Our method strategically integrates insights from both labeled data of the source domain and unlabeled data of the target domain during the training. The ResNet18 is used as the backbone to extract spatial features from the source and target domains. We design two branches for meta-training: the original-source and the mixed-source branches. In the first branch, a Domain Temporal Encoder is employed to capture temporal features for both the source and target domains. Additionally, a Domain Temporal Decoder is employed to reconstruct all extracted features. In the other branch, a Domain Mixed Encoder is used to handle labeled source domain data and unlabeled target domain data, generating mixed-source domain features. We incorporate a pre-training stage before meta-training, featuring a network architecture similar to that of the first branch. Lastly, we introduce a dual distillation mechanism to refine the classification probabilities of source domain features, aligning them with those of mixed-source domain features. This iterative process enriches the insights of the original-source branch with knowledge from the mixed-source branch, thereby enhancing the model's generalization capabilities. Uncertainty-Aware Image Captioning

It is well believed that the higher uncertainty in a word of the caption, the more inter-correlated context information is required to determine it. However, current image captioning methods usually consider the generation of all words in a sentence sequentially and equally. In this paper, we propose an uncertainty-aware image captioning framework, which parallelly and iteratively operates insertion of discontinuous candidate words between existing words from easy to difficult until converged. We hypothesize that high-uncertainty words in a sentence need more prior information to make a correct decision and should be produced at a later stage. The resulting non-autoregressive hierarchy makes the caption generation explainable and intuitive. Specifically, we utilize an image-conditioned bag-of-word model to measure the word uncertainty and apply a dynamic programming algorithm to construct the training pairs. During inference, we devise an uncertainty-adaptive parallel beam search technique that yields an empirically logarithmic time complexity. Extensive experiments on the MS COCO benchmark reveal that our approach outperforms the strong baseline and related methods on both captioning quality as well as decoding speed.

Progressive Text-to-Image Generation

Recently, Vector Quantized AutoRegressive (VQ-AR) models have shown remarkable results in text-to-image synthesis by equally predicting discrete image tokens from the top left to bottom right in the latent space. Although the simple generative process surprisingly works well, is this the best way to generate the image? For instance, human creation is more inclined to the outline-to-fine of an image, while VQ-AR models themselves do not consider any relative importance of image patches. In this paper, we present a progressive model for high-fidelity text-to-image generation. The proposed method takes effect by creating new image tokens from coarse to fine based on the existing context in a parallel manner, and this procedure is recursively applied with the proposed error revision mechanism until an image sequence is completed. The resulting coarse-to-fine hierarchy makes the image generation process intuitive and interpretable. Extensive experiments in MS COCO benchmark demonstrate that the progressive model produces significantly better results compared with the previous VQ-AR method in FID score across a wide variety of categories and aspects. Moreover, the design of parallel generation in each step allows more than $\times 13$ inference acceleration with slight performance loss.

Enhancing Conversational Agents via Task-Oriented Adversarial Memory Adaptation

Conversational agents struggle to handle long conversations due to context window limitations. Therefore, memory systems are developed to leverage essential historical information. Existing memory systems typically follow a pipeline of offline memory construction and update, and online retrieval. Despite the flexible online phase, the offline phase remains fixed and task-independent. In this phase, memory construction operates under a predefined workflow and fails to emphasize task relevant information. Meanwhile, memory updates are guided by generic metrics rather than task specific supervision. This leads to a misalignment between offline memory preparation and task requirements, which undermines downstream task performance. To this end, we propose an Adversarial Memory Adaptation mechanism (AMA) that aligns memory construction and update with task objectives by simulating task execution. Specifically, first, a challenger agent generates question answer pairs based on the original dialogues. The constructed memory is then used to answer these questions, simulating downstream inference. Subsequently, an evaluator agent assesses the responses and performs error analysis. Finally, an adapter agent analyzes the error cases and performs dual level updates on both the construction strategy and the content. Through this process, the memory system receives task aware supervision signals in advance during the offline phase, enhancing its adaptability to downstream tasks. AMA can be integrated into various existing memory systems, and extensive experiments on long dialogue benchmark LoCoMo demonstrate its effectiveness.

Beyond Walking: A Large-Scale Image-Text Benchmark for Text-based Person Anomaly Search

Text-based person search aims to retrieve specific individuals across camera networks using natural language descriptions. However, current benchmarks often exhibit biases towards common actions like walking or standing, neglecting the critical need for identifying abnormal behaviors in real-world scenarios. To meet such demands, we propose a new task, text-based person anomaly search, locating pedestrians engaged in both routine or anomalous activities via text. To enable the training and evaluation of this new task, we construct a large-scale image-text Pedestrian Anomaly Behavior (PAB) benchmark, featuring a broad spectrum of actions, e.g., running, performing, playing soccer, and the corresponding anomalies, e.g., lying, being hit, and falling of the same identity. The training set of PAB comprises 1,013,605 synthesized image-text pairs of both normalities and anomalies, while the test set includes 1,978 real-world image-text pairs. To validate the potential of PAB, we introduce a cross-modal pose-aware framework, which integrates human pose patterns with identity-based hard negative pair sampling. Extensive experiments on the proposed benchmark show that synthetic training data facilitates the fine-grained behavior retrieval, and the proposed pose-aware method arrives at 84.93% recall@1 accuracy, surpassing other competitive methods. Two-stage MR Image Segmentation Method for Brain Tumors based on Attention Mechanism

Multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can reveal different patterns of human tissue and is crucial for clinical diagnosis. However, limited by cost, noise and manual labeling, obtaining diverse and reliable multimodal MR images remains a challenge. For the same lesion, different MRI manifestations have great differences in background information, coarse positioning and fine structure. In order to obtain better generation and segmentation performance, a coordination-spatial attention generation adversarial network (CASP-GAN) based on the cycle-consistent generative adversarial network (CycleGAN) is proposed. The performance of the generator is optimized by introducing the Coordinate Attention (CA) module and the Spatial Attention (SA) module. The two modules can make full use of the captured location information, accurately locating the interested region, and enhancing the generator model network structure. The ability to extract the structure information and the detailed information of the original medical image can help generate the desired image with higher quality. There exist some problems in the original CycleGAN that the training time is long, the parameter amount is too large, and it is difficult to converge. In response to this problem, we introduce the Coordinate Attention (CA) module to replace the Res Block to reduce the number of parameters, and cooperate with the spatial information extraction network above to strengthen the information extraction ability. On the basis of CASP-GAN, an attentional generative cross-modality segmentation (AGCMS) method is further proposed. This method inputs the modalities generated by CASP-GAN and the real modalities into the segmentation network for brain tumor segmentation. Experimental results show that CASP-GAN outperforms CycleGAN and some state-of-the-art methods in PSNR, SSMI and RMSE in most tasks.

ISSTAD: Incremental Self-Supervised Learning Based on Transformer for Anomaly Detection and Localization

In the realm of machine learning, the study of anomaly detection and localization within image data has gained substantial traction, particularly for practical applications such as industrial defect detection. While the majority of existing methods predominantly use Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) as their primary network architecture, we introduce a novel approach based on the Transformer backbone network. Our method employs a two-stage incremental learning strategy. During the first stage, we train a Masked Autoencoder (MAE) model solely on normal images. In the subsequent stage, we apply pixel-level data augmentation techniques to generate corrupted normal images and their corresponding pixel labels. This process allows the model to learn how to repair corrupted regions and classify the status of each pixel. Ultimately, the model generates a pixel reconstruction error matrix and a pixel anomaly probability matrix. These matrices are then combined to produce an anomaly scoring matrix that effectively detects abnormal regions. When benchmarked against several state-of-the-art CNN-based methods, our approach exhibits superior performance on the MVTec AD dataset, achieving an impressive 97.6% AUC.

YOLO-Drone:Airborne real-time detection of dense small objects from high-altitude perspective

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), specifically drones equipped with remote sensing object detection technology, have rapidly gained a broad spectrum of applications and emerged as one of the primary research focuses in the field of computer vision. Although UAV remote sensing systems have the ability to detect various objects, small-scale objects can be challenging to detect reliably due to factors such as object size, image degradation, and real-time limitations. To tackle these issues, a real-time object detection algorithm (YOLO-Drone) is proposed and applied to two new UAV platforms as well as a specific light source (silicon-based golden LED). YOLO-Drone presents several novelties: 1) including a new backbone Darknet59; 2) a new complex feature aggregation module MSPP-FPN that incorporated one spatial pyramid pooling and three atrous spatial pyramid pooling modules; 3) and the use of Generalized Intersection over Union (GIoU) as the loss function. To evaluate performance, two benchmark datasets, UAVDT and VisDrone, along with one homemade dataset acquired at night under silicon-based golden LEDs, are utilized. The experimental results show that, in both UAVDT and VisDrone, the proposed YOLO-Drone outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) object detection methods by improving the mAP of 10.13% and 8.59%, respectively. With regards to UAVDT, the YOLO-Drone exhibits both high real-time inference speed of 53 FPS and a maximum mAP of 34.04%. Notably, YOLO-Drone achieves high performance under the silicon-based golden LEDs, with a mAP of up to 87.71%, surpassing the performance of YOLO series under ordinary light sources. To conclude, the proposed YOLO-Drone is a highly effective solution for object detection in UAV applications, particularly for night detection tasks where silicon-based golden light LED technology exhibits significant superiority.

Minimizing the Pretraining Gap: Domain-aligned Text-Based Person Retrieval

In this work, we focus on text-based person retrieval, which aims to identify individuals based on textual descriptions. Given the significant privacy issues and the high cost associated with manual annotation, synthetic data has become a popular choice for pretraining models, leading to notable advancements. However, the considerable domain gap between synthetic pretraining datasets and real-world target datasets, characterized by differences in lighting, color, and viewpoint, remains a critical obstacle that hinders the effectiveness of the pretrain-finetune paradigm. To bridge this gap, we introduce a unified text-based person retrieval pipeline considering domain adaptation at both image and region levels. In particular, it contains two primary components, i.e., Domain-aware Diffusion (DaD) for image-level adaptation and Multi-granularity Relation Alignment (MRA) for region-level adaptation. As the name implies, Domain-aware Diffusion is to migrate the distribution of images from the pretraining dataset domain to the target real-world dataset domain, e.g., CUHK-PEDES. Subsequently, MRA performs a meticulous region-level alignment by establishing correspondences between visual regions and their descriptive sentences, thereby addressing disparities at a finer granularity. Extensive experiments show that our dual-level adaptation method has achieved state-of-the-art results on the CUHK-PEDES, ICFG-PEDES, and RSTPReid datasets, outperforming existing methodologies. Aligning First, Then Fusing: A Novel Weakly Supervised Multimodal Violence Detection Method

Weakly supervised violence detection refers to the technique of training models to identify violent segments in videos using only video-level labels. Among these approaches, multimodal violence detection, which integrates modalities such as audio and optical flow, holds great potential. Existing methods in this domain primarily focus on designing multimodal fusion models to address modality discrepancies. In contrast, we take a different approach; leveraging the inherent discrepancies across modalities in violence event representation to propose a novel multimodal semantic feature alignment method. This method sparsely maps the semantic features of local, transient, and less informative modalities ( such as audio and optical flow ) into the more informative RGB semantic feature space. Through an iterative process, the method identifies the suitable no-zero feature matching subspace and aligns the modality-specific event representations based on this subspace, enabling the full exploitation of information from all modalities during the subsequent modality fusion stage. Building on this, we design a new weakly supervised violence detection framework that consists of unimodal multiple-instance learning for extracting unimodal semantic features, multimodal alignment, multimodal fusion, and final detection. Experimental results on benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, achieving an average precision (AP) of 86.07% on the XD-Violence dataset. Process Over Outcome: Cultivating Forensic Reasoning for Generalizable Multimodal Manipulation Detection

Recent advances in generative AI have significantly enhanced the realism of multimodal media manipulation, thereby posing substantial challenges to manipulation detection. Existing manipulation detection and grounding approaches predominantly focus on manipulation type classification under result-oriented supervision, which not only lacks interpretability but also tends to overfit superficial artifacts. In this paper, we argue that generalizable detection requires incorporating explicit forensic reasoning, rather than merely classifying a limited set of manipulation types, which fails to generalize to unseen manipulation patterns. To this end, we propose REFORM, a reasoning-driven framework that shifts learning from outcome fitting to process modeling. REFORM adopts a three-stage curriculum that first induces forensic rationales, then aligns reasoning with final judgments, and finally refines logical consistency via reinforcement learning. To support this paradigm, we introduce ROM, a large-scale dataset with rich reasoning annotations. Extensive experiments show that REFORM establishes new state-of-the-art performance with superior generalization, achieving 81.52% ACC on ROM, 76.65% ACC on DGM4, and 74.9 F1 on MMFakeBench.

Look, Compare and Draw: Differential Query Transformer for Automatic Oil Painting

This work introduces a new approach to automatic oil painting that emphasizes the creation of dynamic and expressive brushstrokes. A pivotal challenge lies in mitigating the duplicate and common-place strokes, which often lead to less aesthetic outcomes. Inspired by the human painting process, \ie, observing, comparing, and drawing, we incorporate differential image analysis into a neural oil painting model, allowing the model to effectively concentrate on the incremental impact of successive brushstrokes. To operationalize this concept, we propose the Differential Query Transformer (DQ-Transformer), a new architecture that leverages differentially derived image representations enriched with positional encoding to guide the stroke prediction process. This integration enables the model to maintain heightened sensitivity to local details, resulting in more refined and nuanced stroke generation. Furthermore, we incorporate adversarial training into our framework, enhancing the accuracy of stroke prediction and thereby improving the overall realism and fidelity of the synthesized paintings. Extensive qualitative evaluations, complemented by a controlled user study, validate that our DQ-Transformer surpasses existing methods in both visual realism and artistic authenticity, typically achieving these results with fewer strokes. HSCodeComp: A Realistic and Expert-level Benchmark for Deep Search Agents in Hierarchical Rule Application

Effective deep search agents must not only access open-domain and domain-specific knowledge but also apply complex rules-such as legal clauses, medical manuals and tariff rules. These rules often feature vague boundaries and implicit logic relationships, making precise application challenging for agents. However, this critical capability is largely overlooked by current agent benchmarks. To fill this gap, we introduce HSCodeComp, the first realistic, expert-level e-commerce benchmark designed to evaluate deep search agents in hierarchical rule application. In this task, the deep reasoning process of agents is guided by these rules to predict 10-digit Harmonized System Code (HSCode) of products with noisy but realistic descriptions. These codes, established by the World Customs Organization, are vital for global supply chain efficiency. Built from real-world data collected from large-scale e-commerce platforms, our proposed HSCodeComp comprises 632 product entries spanning diverse product categories, with these HSCodes annotated by several human experts. Extensive experimental results on several state-of-the-art LLMs, open-source, and closed-source agents reveal a huge performance gap: best agent achieves only 46.8% 10-digit accuracy, far below human experts at 95.0%. Besides, detailed analysis demonstrates the challenges of hierarchical rule application, and test-time scaling fails to improve performance further.

Rebellious Student: A Complementary Learning Framework for Background Feature Enhancement in Hyperspectral Anomaly Detection

A recent class of hyperspectral anomaly detection methods that can be trained once on background datasets and then universally deployed -- without per-scene retraining or parameter tuning -- has demonstrated remarkable efficiency and robustness. Building upon this paradigm, we focus on the integration of spectral and spatial cues and introduce a novel "Rebellious Student" framework for complementary feature learning. Unlike conventional teacher-student paradigms driven by imitation, our method intentionally trains the spatial branch to diverge from the spectral teacher, thereby learning complementary spatial patterns that the teacher fails to capture. A two-stage learning strategy is adopted: (1) a spectral enhancement network is first trained via reverse distillation to obtain robust background spectral representations; and (2) a spatial network -- the rebellious student -- is subsequently optimized using decorrelation losses that enforce feature orthogonality while maintaining reconstruction fidelity to avoid irrelevant noise. Once trained, the framework enhances both spectral and spatial background features, enabling parameter-free and training-free anomaly detection when paired with conventional detectors. Experiments on the HAD100 benchmark show substantial improvements over several established baselines with modest computational overhead, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed complementary learning paradigm. Multi-view Distillation based on Multi-modal Fusion for Few-shot Action Recognition(CLIP-$\mathrm{M^2}$DF)

In recent years, few-shot action recognition has attracted increasing attention. It generally adopts the paradigm of meta-learning. In this field, overcoming the overlapping distribution of classes and outliers is still a challenging problem based on limited samples. We believe the combination of Multi-modal and Multi-view can improve this issue depending on information complementarity. Therefore, we propose a method of Multi-view Distillation based on Multi-modal Fusion. Firstly, a Probability Prompt Selector for the query is constructed to generate probability prompt embedding based on the comparison score between the prompt embeddings of the support and the visual embedding of the query. Secondly, we establish a Multi-view. In each view, we fuse the prompt embedding as consistent information with visual and the global or local temporal context to overcome the overlapping distribution of classes and outliers. Thirdly, we perform the distance fusion for the Multi-view and the mutual distillation of matching ability from one to another, enabling the model to be more robust to the distribution bias. IoU-uniform R-CNN: Breaking Through the Limitations of RPN

Region Proposal Network (RPN) is the cornerstone of two-stage object detectors, it generates a sparse set of object proposals and alleviates the extrem foregroundbackground class imbalance problem during training. However, we find that the potential of the detector has not been fully exploited due to the IoU distribution imbalance and inadequate quantity of the training samples generated by RPN. With the increasing intersection over union (IoU), the exponentially smaller numbers of positive samples would lead to the distribution skewed towards lower IoUs, which hinders the optimization of detector at high IoU levels. In this paper, to break through the limitations of RPN, we propose IoU-Uniform R-CNN, a simple but effective method that directly generates training samples with uniform IoU distribution for the regression branch as well as the IoU prediction branch. Besides, we improve the performance of IoU prediction branch by eliminating the feature offsets of RoIs at inference, which helps the NMS procedure by preserving accurately localized bounding box. Extensive experiments on the PASCAL VOC and MS COCO dataset show the effectiveness of our method, as well as its compatibility and adaptivity to many object detection architectures. FSDNet-An efficient fire detection network for complex scenarios based on YOLOv3 and DenseNet

Fire is one of the common disasters in daily life. To achieve fast and accurate detection of fires, this paper proposes a detection network called FSDNet (Fire Smoke Detection Network), which consists of a feature extraction module, a fire classification module, and a fire detection module. Firstly, a dense connection structure is introduced in the basic feature extraction module to enhance the feature extraction ability of the backbone network and alleviate the gradient disappearance problem. Secondly, a spatial pyramid pooling structure is introduced in the fire detection module, and the Mosaic data augmentation method and CIoU loss function are used in the training process to comprehensively improve the flame feature extraction ability. Finally, in view of the shortcomings of public fire datasets, a fire dataset called MS-FS (Multi-scene Fire And Smoke) containing 11938 fire images was created through data collection, screening, and object annotation. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, the accuracy of the method was evaluated on two benchmark fire datasets and MS-FS. The experimental results show that the accuracy of FSDNet on the two benchmark datasets is 99.82% and 91.15%, respectively, and the average precision on MS-FS is 86.80%, which is better than the mainstream fire detection methods.

SoK: Security of Autonomous LLM Agents in Agentic Commerce

Autonomous large language model (LLM) agents such as OpenClaw are pushing agentic commerce from human-supervised assistance toward machine actors that can negotiate, purchase services, manage digital assets, and execute transactions across on-chain and off-chain environments. Protocols such as the Trustless Agents standard (ERC-8004), Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), the HTTP 402-based payment protocol (x402), Agent Commerce Protocol (ACP), the Agentic Commerce standard (ERC-8183), and Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) enable this transition, but they also create an attack surface that existing security frameworks do not capture well. This Systematization of Knowledge (SoK) develops a unified security framework for autonomous LLM agents in commerce and finance. We organize threats along five dimensions: agent integrity, transaction authorization, inter-agent trust, market manipulation, and regulatory compliance. From a systematically curated public corpus of academic papers, protocol documents, industry reports, and incident evidence, we derive 12 cross-layer attack vectors and show how failures propagate from reasoning and tooling layers into custody, settlement, market harm, and compliance exposure. We then propose a layered defense architecture addressing authorization gaps left by current agent-payment protocols. Overall, our analysis shows that securing agentic commerce is inherently a cross-layer problem that requires coordinated controls across LLM safety, protocol design, identity, market structure, and regulation. We conclude with a research roadmap and a benchmark agenda for secure autonomous commerce.

NTIRE 2024 Quality Assessment of AI-Generated Content Challenge

This paper reports on the NTIRE 2024 Quality Assessment of AI-Generated Content Challenge, which will be held in conjunction with the New Trends in Image Restoration and Enhancement Workshop (NTIRE) at CVPR 2024. This challenge is to address a major challenge in the field of image and video processing, namely, Image Quality Assessment (IQA) and Video Quality Assessment (VQA) for AI-Generated Content (AIGC). The challenge is divided into the image track and the video track. The image track uses the AIGIQA-20K, which contains 20,000 AI-Generated Images (AIGIs) generated by 15 popular generative models. The image track has a total of 318 registered participants. A total of 1,646 submissions are received in the development phase, and 221 submissions are received in the test phase. Finally, 16 participating teams submitted their models and fact sheets. The video track uses the T2VQA-DB, which contains 10,000 AI-Generated Videos (AIGVs) generated by 9 popular Text-to-Video (T2V) models. A total of 196 participants have registered in the video track. A total of 991 submissions are received in the development phase, and 185 submissions are received in the test phase. Finally, 12 participating teams submitted their models and fact sheets. Some methods have achieved better results than baseline methods, and the winning methods in both tracks have demonstrated superior prediction performance on AIGC.

Landslide Susceptibility Prediction Modeling Based on Self-Screening Deep Learning Model

Landslide susceptibility prediction has always been an important and challenging content. However, there are some uncertain problems to be solved in susceptibility modeling, such as the error of landslide samples and the complex nonlinear relationship between environmental factors. A self-screening graph convolutional network and long short-term memory network (SGCN-LSTM) is proposed int this paper to overcome the above problems in landslide susceptibility prediction. The SGCN-LSTM model has the advantages of wide width and good learning ability. The landslide samples with large errors outside the set threshold interval are eliminated by self-screening network, and the nonlinear relationship between environmental factors can be extracted from both spatial nodes and time series, so as to better simulate the nonlinear relationship between environmental factors. The SGCN-LSTM model was applied to landslide susceptibility prediction in Anyuan County, Jiangxi Province, China, and compared with Cascade-parallel Long Short-Term Memory and Conditional Random Fields (CPLSTM-CRF), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) and Logistic Regression (LR) models.The landslide prediction experiment in Anyuan County showed that the total accuracy and AUC of SGCN-LSTM model were the highest among the six models, and the total accuracy reached 92.38 %, which was 5.88%, 12.44%, 19.65%, 19.92% and 20.34% higher than those of CPLSTM-CRF, RF, SVM, SGD and LR models, respectively. The AUC value reached 0.9782, which was 0.0305,0.0532,0.1875,0.1909 and 0.1829 higher than the other five models, respectively. In conclusion, compared with some existing traditional machine learning, the SGCN-LSTM model proposed in this paper has higher landslide prediction accuracy and better robustness, and has a good application prospect in the LSP field.

MultiDx: A Multi-Source Knowledge Integration Framework towards Diagnostic Reasoning

Diagnostic prediction and clinical reasoning are critical tasks in healthcare applications. While Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown strong capabilities in commonsense reasoning, they still struggle with diagnostic reasoning due to limited domain knowledge. Existing approaches often rely on internal model knowledge or static knowledge bases, resulting in knowledge insufficiency and limited adaptability, which hinder their capacity to perform diagnostic reasoning. Moreover, these methods focus solely on the accuracy of final predictions, overlooking alignment with standard clinical reasoning trajectories. To this end, we propose MultiDx, a two-stage diagnostic reasoning framework that performs differential diagnosis by analyzing evidence collected from multiple knowledge sources. Specifically, it first generates suspected diagnoses and reasoning paths by leveraging knowledge from web search, SOAP-formatted case, and clinical case database. Then it integrates multi-perspective evidence through matching, voting, and differential diagnosis to generate the final prediction.~Extensive experiments on two public benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

AdapTime: Enabling Adaptive Temporal Reasoning in Large Language Models

Large language models have demonstrated strong reasoning capabilities in general knowledge question answering. However, their ability to handle temporal information remains limited. To address this limitation, existing approaches often involve external tools or manual verification and are tailored to specific scenarios, leading to poor generalizability. Moreover, these methods apply a fixed pipeline to all questions, overlooking the fact that different types of temporal questions require distinct reasoning strategies, which leads to unnecessary processing for simple cases and inadequate reasoning for complex ones. To this end, we propose AdapTime, an adaptive temporal reasoning method that dynamically executes reasoning steps based on the input context. Specifically, it involves three temporal reasoning actions: reformulate, rewrite and review, with an LLM planner guiding the reasoning process. AdapTime integrates seamlessly with state-of-the-art LLMs and significantly enhances their temporal reasoning capabilities without relying on external support. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

Can Video Diffusion Models Predict Past Frames? Bidirectional Cycle Consistency for Reversible Interpolation

Video frame interpolation aims to synthesize realistic intermediate frames between given endpoints while adhering to specific motion semantics. While recent generative models have improved visual fidelity, they predominantly operate in a unidirectional manner, lacking mechanisms to self-verify temporal consistency. This often leads to motion drift, directional ambiguity, and boundary misalignment, especially in long-range sequences. Inspired by the principle of temporal cycle-consistency in self-supervised learning, we propose a novel bidirectional framework that enforces symmetry between forward and backward generation trajectories. Our approach introduces learnable directional tokens to explicitly condition a shared backbone on temporal orientation, enabling the model to jointly optimize forward synthesis and backward reconstruction within a single unified architecture. This cycle-consistent supervision acts as a powerful regularizer, ensuring that generated motion paths are logically reversible. Furthermore, we employ a curriculum learning strategy that progressively trains the model from short to long sequences, stabilizing dynamics across varying durations. Crucially, our cyclic constraints are applied only during training; inference requires a single forward pass, maintaining the high efficiency of the base model. Extensive experiments show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in imaging quality, motion smoothness, and dynamic control on both 37-frame and 73-frame tasks, outperforming strong baselines while incurring no additional computational overhead.

A Large-scale Interpretable Multi-modality Benchmark for Facial Image Forgery Localization

Image forgery localization, which centers on identifying tampered pixels within an image, has seen significant advancements. Traditional approaches often model this challenge as a variant of image segmentation, treating the binary segmentation of forged areas as the end product. We argue that the basic binary forgery mask is inadequate for explaining model predictions. It doesn't clarify why the model pinpoints certain areas and treats all forged pixels the same, making it hard to spot the most fake-looking parts. In this study, we mitigate the aforementioned limitations by generating salient region-focused interpretation for the forgery images. To support this, we craft a Multi-Modal Tramper Tracing (MMTT) dataset, comprising facial images manipulated using deepfake techniques and paired with manual, interpretable textual annotations. To harvest high-quality annotation, annotators are instructed to meticulously observe the manipulated images and articulate the typical characteristics of the forgery regions. Subsequently, we collect a dataset of 128,303 image-text pairs. Leveraging the MMTT dataset, we develop ForgeryTalker, an architecture designed for concurrent forgery localization and interpretation. ForgeryTalker first trains a forgery prompter network to identify the pivotal clues within the explanatory text. Subsequently, the region prompter is incorporated into multimodal large language model for finetuning to achieve the dual goals of localization and interpretation. Extensive experiments conducted on the MMTT dataset verify the superior performance of our proposed model. The dataset, code as well as pretrained checkpoints will be made publicly available to facilitate further research and ensure the reproducibility of our results.

Scale Up Composed Image Retrieval Learning via Modification Text Generation

Composed Image Retrieval (CIR) aims to search an image of interest using a combination of a reference image and modification text as the query. Despite recent advancements, this task remains challenging due to limited training data and laborious triplet annotation processes. To address this issue, this paper proposes to synthesize the training triplets to augment the training resource for the CIR problem. Specifically, we commence by training a modification text generator exploiting large-scale multimodal models and scale up the CIR learning throughout both the pretraining and fine-tuning stages. During pretraining, we leverage the trained generator to directly create Modification Text-oriented Synthetic Triplets(MTST) conditioned on pairs of images. For fine-tuning, we first synthesize reverse modification text to connect the target image back to the reference image. Subsequently, we devise a two-hop alignment strategy to incrementally close the semantic gap between the multimodal pair and the target image. We initially learn an implicit prototype utilizing both the original triplet and its reversed version in a cycle manner, followed by combining the implicit prototype feature with the modification text to facilitate accurate alignment with the target image. Extensive experiments validate the efficacy of the generated triplets and confirm that our proposed methodology attains competitive recall on both the CIRR and FashionIQ benchmarks.

Towards Scalable Video Anomaly Retrieval: A Synthetic Video-Text Benchmark

Video anomaly retrieval aims to localize anomalous events in videos using natural language queries to facilitate public safety. However, existing datasets suffer from severe limitations: (1) data scarcity due to the long-tail nature of real-world anomalies, and (2) privacy constraints that impede large-scale collection. To address the aforementioned issues in one go, we introduce SVTA (Synthetic Video-Text Anomaly benchmark), the first large-scale dataset for cross-modal anomaly retrieval, leveraging generative models to overcome data availability challenges. Specifically, we collect and generate video descriptions via the off-the-shelf LLM (Large Language Model) covering 68 anomaly categories, e.g., throwing, stealing, and shooting. These descriptions encompass common long-tail events. We adopt these texts to guide the video generative model to produce diverse and high-quality videos. Finally, our SVTA involves 41,315 videos (1.36M frames) with paired captions, covering 30 normal activities, e.g., standing, walking, and sports, and 68 anomalous events, e.g., falling, fighting, theft, explosions, and natural disasters. We adopt three widely-used video-text retrieval baselines to comprehensively test our SVTA, revealing SVTA's challenging nature and its effectiveness in evaluating a robust cross-modal retrieval method. Graph Feedback Bandits on Similar Arms: With and Without Graph Structures

In this paper, we study the stochastic multi-armed bandit problem with graph feedback. Motivated by applications in clinical trials and recommendation systems, we assume that two arms are connected if and only if they are similar (i.e., their means are close to each other). We establish a regret lower bound for this problem under the novel feedback structure and introduce two upper confidence bound (UCB)-based algorithms: Double-UCB, which has problem-independent regret upper bounds, and Conservative-UCB, which has problem-dependent upper bounds. Leveraging the similarity structure, we also explore a scenario where the number of arms increases over time (referred to as the \emph{ballooning setting}). Practical applications of this scenario include Q\&A platforms (e.g., Reddit, Stack Overflow, Quora) and product reviews on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, where answers (or reviews) continuously appear, and the goal is to display the best ones at the top. We extend these two UCB-based algorithms to the ballooning setting. Under mild assumptions, we provide regret upper bounds for both algorithms and discuss their sub-linearity. Furthermore, we propose a new version of the corresponding algorithms that do not rely on prior knowledge of the graph's structural information and provide regret upper bounds. Finally, we conduct experiments to validate the theoretical results.

Pseudo-Label Enhanced Prototypical Contrastive Learning for Uniformed Intent Discovery

New intent discovery is a crucial capability for task-oriented dialogue systems. Existing methods focus on transferring in-domain (IND) prior knowledge to out-of-domain (OOD) data through pre-training and clustering stages. They either handle the two processes in a pipeline manner, which exhibits a gap between intent representation and clustering process or use typical contrastive clustering that overlooks the potential supervised signals from the whole data. Besides, they often individually deal with open intent discovery or OOD settings. To this end, we propose a Pseudo-Label enhanced Prototypical Contrastive Learning (PLPCL) model for uniformed intent discovery. We iteratively utilize pseudo-labels to explore potential positive/negative samples for contrastive learning and bridge the gap between representation and clustering. To enable better knowledge transfer, we design a prototype learning method integrating the supervised and pseudo signals from IND and OOD samples. In addition, our method has been proven effective in two different settings of discovering new intents. Experiments on three benchmark datasets and two task settings demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

Forced Exploration in Bandit Problems

The multi-armed bandit(MAB) is a classical sequential decision problem. Most work requires assumptions about the reward distribution (e.g., bounded), while practitioners may have difficulty obtaining information about these distributions to design models for their problems, especially in non-stationary MAB problems. This paper aims to design a multi-armed bandit algorithm that can be implemented without using information about the reward distribution while still achieving substantial regret upper bounds. To this end, we propose a novel algorithm alternating between greedy rule and forced exploration. Our method can be applied to Gaussian, Bernoulli and other subgaussian distributions, and its implementation does not require additional information. We employ a unified analysis method for different forced exploration strategies and provide problem-dependent regret upper bounds for stationary and piecewise-stationary settings. Furthermore, we compare our algorithm with popular bandit algorithms on different reward distributions.

BCH codes of length $n=λ(q^m+1)$ over finite fields

BCH codes constitute an important class of cyclic codes, many of which are optimal and have wide applications in communication systems. However, determining their parameters remains a challenging problem. In this paper, we investigate BCH codes and LCD cyclic codes over finite fields $\mathbb{F}_q$ of length $n=λ(q^m+1)$, where $m$ is a positive integer and $λ\mid q-1$. We begin by analyzing the cyclotomic cosets modulo $n$, establishing the sufficient and necessary conditions for $γ$ is a coset leader for any $0\le γ<n$ and determining the two largest coset leaders. Based on these, we determine the dimensions of several families of BCH codes, and improve the lower bound on their minimal distances. Notably, some of the codes we constructed are optimal. Additionally, when $m$ is odd, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a BCH code of length $n$ to be dually-BCH. Furthermore, we enumerate all LCD cyclic codes of length $n$. Finally, several open problems are proposed for further study.

HiMAE: Hierarchical Masked Autoencoders Discover Resolution-Specific Structure in Wearable Time Series

Wearable sensors provide abundant physiological time series, yet the principles governing their predictive utility remain unclear. We hypothesize that temporal resolution is a fundamental axis of representation learning, with different clinical and behavioral outcomes relying on structure at distinct scales. To test this resolution hypothesis, we introduce HiMAE (Hierarchical Masked Autoencoder), a self supervised framework that combines masked autoencoding with a hierarchical convolutional encoder decoder. HiMAE produces multi resolution embeddings that enable systematic evaluation of which temporal scales carry predictive signal, transforming resolution from a hyperparameter into a probe for interpretability. Across classification, regression, and generative benchmarks, HiMAE consistently outperforms state of the art foundation models that collapse scale, while being orders of magnitude smaller. HiMAE is an efficient representation learner compact enough to run entirely on watch, achieving sub millisecond inference on smartwatch class CPUs for true edge inference. Together, these contributions position HiMAE as both an efficient self supervised learning method and a discovery tool for scale sensitive structure in wearable health.

AdapSNE: Adaptive Fireworks-Optimized and Entropy-Guided Dataset Sampling for Edge DNN Training

Training deep neural networks (DNNs) directly on edge devices has attracted increasing attention, as it offers promising solutions to challenges such as domain adaptation and privacy preservation. However, conventional DNN training typically requires large-scale datasets, which imposes prohibitive overhead on edge devices-particularly for emerging large language model (LLM) tasks. To address this challenge, a DNN-free method (ie., dataset sampling without DNN), named NMS (Near-Memory Sampling), has been introduced. By first conducting dimensionality reduction of the dataset and then performing exemplar sampling in the reduced space, NMS avoids the architectural bias inherent in DNN-based methods and thus achieves better generalization. However, The state-of-the-art, NMS, suffers from two limitations: (1) The mismatch between the search method and the non-monotonic property of the perplexity error function leads to the emergence of outliers in the reduced representation; (2) Key parameter (ie., target perplexity) is selected empirically, introducing arbitrariness and leading to uneven sampling. These two issues lead to representative bias of examplars, resulting in degraded accuracy. To address these issues, we propose AdapSNE, which integrates an efficient non-monotonic search method-namely, the Fireworks Algorithm (FWA)-to suppress outliers, and employs entropy-guided optimization to enforce uniform sampling, thereby ensuring representative training samples and consequently boosting training accuracy. To cut the edge-side cost arising from the iterative computations of FWA search and entropy-guided optimization, we design an accelerator with custom dataflow and time-multiplexing markedly reducing on-device training energy and area.

Spontaneous Spatial Cognition Emerges during Egocentric Video Viewing through Non-invasive BCI

Humans possess a remarkable capacity for spatial cognition, allowing for self-localization even in novel or unfamiliar environments. While hippocampal neurons encoding position and orientation are well documented, the large-scale neural dynamics supporting spatial representation, particularly during naturalistic, passive experience, remain poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate for the first time that non-invasive brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) based on electroencephalography (EEG) can decode spontaneous, fine-grained egocentric 6D pose, comprising three-dimensional position and orientation, during passive viewing of egocentric video. Despite EEG's limited spatial resolution and high signal noise, we find that spatially coherent visual input (i.e., continuous and structured motion) reliably evokes decodable spatial representations, aligning with participants' subjective sense of spatial engagement. Decoding performance further improves when visual input is presented at a frame rate of 100 ms per image, suggesting alignment with intrinsic neural temporal dynamics. Using gradient-based backpropagation through a neural decoding model, we identify distinct EEG channels contributing to position -- and orientation specific -- components, revealing a distributed yet complementary neural encoding scheme. These findings indicate that the brain's spatial systems operate spontaneously and continuously, even under passive conditions, challenging traditional distinctions between active and passive spatial cognition. Our results offer a non-invasive window into the automatic construction of egocentric spatial maps and advance our understanding of how the human mind transforms everyday sensory experience into structured internal representations.

A Multi-Expert Structural-Semantic Hybrid Framework for Unveiling Historical Patterns in Temporal Knowledge Graphs

Temporal knowledge graph reasoning aims to predict future events with knowledge of existing facts and plays a key role in various downstream tasks. Previous methods focused on either graph structure learning or semantic reasoning, failing to integrate dual reasoning perspectives to handle different prediction scenarios. Moreover, they lack the capability to capture the inherent differences between historical and non-historical events, which limits their generalization across different temporal contexts. To this end, we propose a Multi-Expert Structural-Semantic Hybrid (MESH) framework that employs three kinds of expert modules to integrate both structural and semantic information, guiding the reasoning process for different events. Extensive experiments on three datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

The Coherence Trap: When MLLM-Crafted Narratives Exploit Manipulated Visual Contexts

The detection and grounding of multimedia manipulation has emerged as a critical challenge in combating AI-generated disinformation. While existing methods have made progress in recent years, we identify two fundamental limitations in current approaches: (1) Underestimation of MLLM-driven deception risk: prevailing techniques primarily address rule-based text manipulations, yet fail to account for sophisticated misinformation synthesized by multimodal large language models (MLLMs) that can dynamically generate semantically coherent, contextually plausible yet deceptive narratives conditioned on manipulated images; (2) Unrealistic misalignment artifacts: currently focused scenarios rely on artificially misaligned content that lacks semantic coherence, rendering them easily detectable. To address these gaps holistically, we propose a new adversarial pipeline that leverages MLLMs to generate high-risk disinformation. Our approach begins with constructing the MLLM-Driven Synthetic Multimodal (MDSM) dataset, where images are first altered using state-of-the-art editing techniques and then paired with MLLM-generated deceptive texts that maintain semantic consistency with the visual manipulations. Building upon this foundation, we present the Artifact-aware Manipulation Diagnosis via MLLM (AMD) framework featuring two key innovations: Artifact Pre-perception Encoding strategy and Manipulation-Oriented Reasoning, to tame MLLMs for the MDSM problem. Comprehensive experiments validate our framework's superior generalization capabilities as a unified architecture for detecting MLLM-powered multimodal deceptions.

Every Painting Awakened: A Training-free Framework for Painting-to-Animation Generation

We introduce a training-free framework specifically designed to bring real-world static paintings to life through image-to-video (I2V) synthesis, addressing the persistent challenge of aligning these motions with textual guidance while preserving fidelity to the original artworks. Existing I2V methods, primarily trained on natural video datasets, often struggle to generate dynamic outputs from static paintings. It remains challenging to generate motion while maintaining visual consistency with real-world paintings. This results in two distinct failure modes: either static outputs due to limited text-based motion interpretation or distorted dynamics caused by inadequate alignment with real-world artistic styles. We leverage the advanced text-image alignment capabilities of pre-trained image models to guide the animation process. Our approach introduces synthetic proxy images through two key innovations: (1) Dual-path score distillation: We employ a dual-path architecture to distill motion priors from both real and synthetic data, preserving static details from the original painting while learning dynamic characteristics from synthetic frames. (2) Hybrid latent fusion: We integrate hybrid features extracted from real paintings and synthetic proxy images via spherical linear interpolation in the latent space, ensuring smooth transitions and enhancing temporal consistency. Experimental evaluations confirm that our approach significantly improves semantic alignment with text prompts while faithfully preserving the unique characteristics and integrity of the original paintings. Crucially, by achieving enhanced dynamic effects without requiring any model training or learnable parameters, our framework enables plug-and-play integration with existing I2V methods, making it an ideal solution for animating real-world paintings. DOGR: Towards Versatile Visual Document Grounding and Referring

With recent advances in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), grounding and referring capabilities have gained increasing attention for achieving detailed understanding and flexible user interaction. However, these capabilities still remain underdeveloped in visual document understanding due to the scarcity of fine-grained datasets and comprehensive benchmarks. To fill this gap, we propose the DOcument Grounding and Referring data engine (DOGR-Engine), which generates two types of high-quality fine-grained document data: (1) multi-granular parsing data to improve text localization and recognition, and (2) instruction-tuning data to activate MLLMs' grounding and referring capabilities in dialogue and reasoning. Using the DOGR-Engine, we construct DOGR-Bench, a benchmark covering seven grounding and referring tasks across three document types (chart, poster, and PDF document), offering a comprehensive evaluation of fine-grained document understanding. Leveraging the generated data, we further develop DOGR, a strong baseline model that excels in text localization and recognition, while precisely grounds and refers to key textual information during conversation and reasoning, thereby advancing document understanding to a finer granularity and enable flexible interaction paradigms.

ClinicalLab: Aligning Agents for Multi-Departmental Clinical Diagnostics in the Real World

LLMs have achieved significant performance progress in various NLP applications. However, LLMs still struggle to meet the strict requirements for accuracy and reliability in the medical field and face many challenges in clinical applications. Existing clinical diagnostic evaluation benchmarks for evaluating medical agents powered by LLMs have severe limitations. Firstly, most existing medical evaluation benchmarks face the risk of data leakage or contamination. Secondly, existing benchmarks often neglect the characteristics of multiple departments and specializations in modern medical practice. Thirdly, existing evaluation methods are limited to multiple-choice questions, which do not align with the real-world diagnostic scenarios. Lastly, existing evaluation methods lack comprehensive evaluations of end-to-end real clinical scenarios. These limitations in benchmarks in turn obstruct advancements of LLMs and agents for medicine. To address these limitations, we introduce ClinicalLab, a comprehensive clinical diagnosis agent alignment suite. ClinicalLab includes ClinicalBench, an end-to-end multi-departmental clinical diagnostic evaluation benchmark for evaluating medical agents and LLMs. ClinicalBench is based on real cases that cover 24 departments and 150 diseases. ClinicalLab also includes four novel metrics (ClinicalMetrics) for evaluating the effectiveness of LLMs in clinical diagnostic tasks. We evaluate 17 LLMs and find that their performance varies significantly across different departments. Based on these findings, in ClinicalLab, we propose ClinicalAgent, an end-to-end clinical agent that aligns with real-world clinical diagnostic practices. We systematically investigate the performance and applicable scenarios of variants of ClinicalAgent on ClinicalBench. Our findings demonstrate the importance of aligning with modern medical practices in designing medical agents.

Discounted Thompson Sampling for Non-Stationary Bandit Problems

Non-stationary multi-armed bandit (NS-MAB) problems have recently received significant attention. NS-MAB are typically modelled in two scenarios: abruptly changing, where reward distributions remain constant for a certain period and change at unknown time steps, and smoothly changing, where reward distributions evolve smoothly based on unknown dynamics. In this paper, we propose Discounted Thompson Sampling (DS-TS) with Gaussian priors to address both non-stationary settings. Our algorithm passively adapts to changes by incorporating a discounted factor into Thompson Sampling. DS-TS method has been experimentally validated, but analysis of the regret upper bound is currently lacking. Under mild assumptions, we show that DS-TS with Gaussian priors can achieve nearly optimal regret bound on the order of $\tilde{O}(\sqrt{TB_T})$ for abruptly changing and $\tilde{O}(T^β)$ for smoothly changing, where $T$ is the number of time steps, $B_T$ is the number of breakpoints, $β$ is associated with the smoothly changing environment and $\tilde{O}$ hides the parameters independent of $T$ as well as logarithmic terms. Furthermore, empirical comparisons between DS-TS and other non-stationary bandit algorithms demonstrate its competitive performance. Specifically, when prior knowledge of the maximum expected reward is available, DS-TS has the potential to outperform state-of-the-art algorithms.

Detecting Small Objects in Thermal Images Using Single-Shot Detector

SSD (Single Shot Multibox Detector) is one of the most successful object detectors for its high accuracy and fast speed. However, the features from shallow layer (mainly Conv4_3) of SSD lack semantic information, resulting in poor performance in small objects. In this paper, we proposed DDSSD (Dilation and Deconvolution Single Shot Multibox Detector), an enhanced SSD with a novel feature fusion module which can improve the performance over SSD for small object detection. In the feature fusion module, dilation convolution module is utilized to enlarge the receptive field of features from shallow layer and deconvolution module is adopted to increase the size of feature maps from high layer. Our network achieves 79.7% mAP on PASCAL VOC2007 test and 28.3% mmAP on MS COCO test-dev at 41 FPS with only 300x300 input using a single Nvidia 1080 GPU. Especially, for small objects, DDSSD achieves 10.5% on MS COCO and 22.8% on FLIR thermal dataset, outperforming a lot of state-of-the-art object detection algorithms in both aspects of accuracy and speed.

Generating Superpixels for High-resolution Images with Decoupled Patch Calibration

Superpixel segmentation has recently seen important progress benefiting from the advances in differentiable deep learning. However, the very high-resolution superpixel segmentation still remains challenging due to the expensive memory and computation cost, making the current advanced superpixel networks fail to process. In this paper, we devise Patch Calibration Networks (PCNet), aiming to efficiently and accurately implement high-resolution superpixel segmentation. PCNet follows the principle of producing high-resolution output from low-resolution input for saving GPU memory and relieving computation cost. To recall the fine details destroyed by the down-sampling operation, we propose a novel Decoupled Patch Calibration (DPC) branch for collaboratively augment the main superpixel generation branch. In particular, DPC takes a local patch from the high-resolution images and dynamically generates a binary mask to impose the network to focus on region boundaries. By sharing the parameters of DPC and main branches, the fine-detailed knowledge learned from high-resolution patches will be transferred to help calibrate the destroyed information. To the best of our knowledge, we make the first attempt to consider the deep-learning-based superpixel generation for high-resolution cases. To facilitate this research, we build evaluation benchmarks from two public datasets and one new constructed one, covering a wide range of diversities from fine-grained human parts to cityscapes. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our PCNet can not only perform favorably against the state-of-the-arts in the quantitative results but also improve the resolution upper bound from 3K to 5K on 1080Ti GPUs.

ReGO: Reference-Guided Outpainting for Scenery Image

We aim to tackle the challenging yet practical scenery image outpainting task in this work. Recently, generative adversarial learning has significantly advanced the image outpainting by producing semantic consistent content for the given image. However, the existing methods always suffer from the blurry texture and the artifacts of the generative part, making the overall outpainting results lack authenticity. To overcome the weakness, this work investigates a principle way to synthesize texture-rich results by borrowing pixels from its neighbors (i.e., reference images), named \textbf{Re}ference-\textbf{G}uided \textbf{O}utpainting (ReGO). Particularly, the ReGO designs an Adaptive Content Selection (ACS) module to transfer the pixel of reference images for texture compensating of the target one. To prevent the style of the generated part from being affected by the reference images, a style ranking loss is further proposed to augment the ReGO to synthesize style-consistent results. Extensive experiments on two popular benchmarks, NS6K \cite{yangzx} and NS8K \cite{wang}, well demonstrate the effectiveness of our ReGO. Our code will be made public available.

1st Place Solution to ICDAR 2021 RRC-ICTEXT End-to-end Text Spotting and Aesthetic Assessment on Integrated Circuit

This paper presents our proposed methods to ICDAR 2021 Robust Reading Challenge - Integrated Circuit Text Spotting and Aesthetic Assessment (ICDAR RRC-ICTEXT 2021). For the text spotting task, we detect the characters on integrated circuit and classify them based on yolov5 detection model. We balance the lowercase and non-lowercase by using SynthText, generated data and data sampler. We adopt semi-supervised algorithm and distillation to furtherly improve the model's accuracy. For the aesthetic assessment task, we add a classification branch of 3 classes to differentiate the aesthetic classes of each character. Finally, we make model deployment to accelerate inference speed and reduce memory consumption based on NVIDIA Tensorrt. Our methods achieve 59.1 mAP on task 3.1 with 31 FPS and 306M memory (rank 1), 78.7\% F2 score on task 3.2 with 30 FPS and 306M memory (rank 1).
