Multi-scale multi-modal micro-expression recognition algorithm based on transformerFengping Wang, Jie Li, Chun Qi et al.
A micro-expression is a spontaneous unconscious facial muscle movement that can reveal the true emotions people attempt to hide. Although manual methods have made good progress and deep learning is gaining prominence. Due to the short duration of micro-expression and different scales of expressed in facial regions, existing algorithms cannot extract multi-modal multi-scale facial region features while taking into account contextual information to learn underlying features. Therefore, in order to solve the above problems, a multi-modal multi-scale algorithm based on transformer network is proposed in this paper, aiming to fully learn local multi-grained features of micro-expressions through two modal features of micro-expressions - motion features and texture features. To obtain local area features of the face at different scales, we learned patch features at different scales for both modalities, and then fused multi-layer multi-headed attention weights to obtain effective features by weighting the patch features, and combined cross-modal contrastive learning for model optimization. We conducted comprehensive experiments on three spontaneous datasets, and the results show the accuracy of the proposed algorithm in single measurement SMIC database is up to 78.73% and the F1 value on CASMEII of the combined database is up to 0.9071, which is at the leading level.

BS-GAT Behavior Similarity Based Graph Attention Network for Network Intrusion DetectionYalu Wang, Zhijie Han, Jie Li et al.
With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), network intrusion detection is becoming more complex and extensive. It is essential to investigate an intelligent, automated, and robust network intrusion detection method. Graph neural networks based network intrusion detection methods have been proposed. However, it still needs further studies because the graph construction method of the existing methods does not fully adapt to the characteristics of the practical network intrusion datasets. To address the above issue, this paper proposes a graph neural network algorithm based on behavior similarity (BS-GAT) using graph attention network. First, a novel graph construction method is developed using the behavior similarity by analyzing the characteristics of the practical datasets. The data flows are treated as nodes in the graph, and the behavior rules of nodes are used as edges in the graph, constructing a graph with a relatively uniform number of neighbors for each node. Then, the edge behavior relationship weights are incorporated into the graph attention network to utilize the relationship between data flows and the structure information of the graph, which is used to improve the performance of the network intrusion detection. Finally, experiments are conducted based on the latest datasets to evaluate the performance of the proposed behavior similarity based graph attention network for the network intrusion detection. The results show that the proposed method is effective and has superior performance comparing to existing solutions.
Input-Specific Robustness Certification for Randomized SmoothingRuoxin Chen, Jie Li, Junchi Yan et al.
Although randomized smoothing has demonstrated high certified robustness and superior scalability to other certified defenses, the high computational overhead of the robustness certification bottlenecks the practical applicability, as it depends heavily on the large sample approximation for estimating the confidence interval. In existing works, the sample size for the confidence interval is universally set and agnostic to the input for prediction. This Input-Agnostic Sampling (IAS) scheme may yield a poor Average Certified Radius (ACR)-runtime trade-off which calls for improvement. In this paper, we propose Input-Specific Sampling (ISS) acceleration to achieve the cost-effectiveness for robustness certification, in an adaptive way of reducing the sampling size based on the input characteristic. Furthermore, our method universally controls the certified radius decline from the ISS sample size reduction. The empirical results on CIFAR-10 and ImageNet show that ISS can speed up the certification by more than three times at a limited cost of 0.05 certified radius. Meanwhile, ISS surpasses IAS on the average certified radius across the extensive hyperparameter settings. Specifically, ISS achieves ACR=0.958 on ImageNet ($σ=1.0$) in 250 minutes, compared to ACR=0.917 by IAS under the same condition. We release our code in \url{https://github.com/roy-ch/Input-Specific-Certification}.
FedIPR: Ownership Verification for Federated Deep Neural Network ModelsBowen Li, Lixin Fan, Hanlin Gu et al.
Federated learning models are collaboratively developed upon valuable training data owned by multiple parties. During the development and deployment of federated models, they are exposed to risks including illegal copying, re-distribution, misuse and/or free-riding. To address these risks, the ownership verification of federated learning models is a prerequisite that protects federated learning model intellectual property rights (IPR) i.e., FedIPR. We propose a novel federated deep neural network (FedDNN) ownership verification scheme that allows private watermarks to be embedded and verified to claim legitimate IPR of FedDNN models. In the proposed scheme, each client independently verifies the existence of the model watermarks and claims respective ownership of the federated model without disclosing neither private training data nor private watermark information. The effectiveness of embedded watermarks is theoretically justified by the rigorous analysis of conditions under which watermarks can be privately embedded and detected by multiple clients. Moreover, extensive experimental results on computer vision and natural language processing tasks demonstrate that varying bit-length watermarks can be embedded and reliably detected without compromising original model performances. Our watermarking scheme is also resilient to various federated training settings and robust against removal attacks.

A sparse annotation strategy based on attention-guided active learning for 3D medical image segmentationZhenxi Zhang, Jie Li, Zhusi Zhong et al.
3D image segmentation is one of the most important and ubiquitous problems in medical image processing. It provides detailed quantitative analysis for accurate disease diagnosis, abnormal detection, and classification. Currently deep learning algorithms are widely used in medical image segmentation, most algorithms trained models with full annotated datasets. However, obtaining medical image datasets is very difficult and expensive, and full annotation of 3D medical image is a monotonous and time-consuming work. Partially labelling informative slices in 3D images will be a great relief of manual annotation. Sample selection strategies based on active learning have been proposed in the field of 2D image, but few strategies focus on 3D images. In this paper, we propose a sparse annotation strategy based on attention-guided active learning for 3D medical image segmentation. Attention mechanism is used to improve segmentation accuracy and estimate the segmentation accuracy of each slice. The comparative experiments with three different strategies using datasets from the developing human connectome project (dHCP) show that, our strategy only needs 15% to 20% annotated slices in brain extraction task and 30% to 35% annotated slices in tissue segmentation task to achieve comparative results as full annotation.
