FastMIM: Expediting Masked Image Modeling Pre-training for Vision

The combination of transformers and masked image modeling (MIM) pre-training framework has shown great potential in various vision tasks. However, the pre-training computational budget is too heavy and withholds the MIM from becoming a practical training paradigm. This paper presents FastMIM, a simple and generic framework for expediting masked image modeling with the following two steps: (i) pre-training vision backbones with low-resolution input images; and (ii) reconstructing Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) feature instead of original RGB values of the input images. In addition, we propose FastMIM-P to progressively enlarge the input resolution during pre-training stage to further enhance the transfer results of models with high capacity. We point out that: (i) a wide range of input resolutions in pre-training phase can lead to similar performances in fine-tuning phase and downstream tasks such as detection and segmentation; (ii) the shallow layers of encoder are more important during pre-training and discarding last several layers can speed up the training stage with no harm to fine-tuning performance; (iii) the decoder should match the size of selected network; and (iv) HOG is more stable than RGB values when resolution transfers;. Equipped with FastMIM, all kinds of vision backbones can be pre-trained in an efficient way. For example, we can achieve 83.8%/84.1% top-1 accuracy on ImageNet-1K with ViT-B/Swin-B as backbones. Compared to previous relevant approaches, we can achieve comparable or better top-1 accuracy while accelerate the training procedure by $\sim$5$\times$. Hierarchical Relational Learning for Few-Shot Knowledge Graph Completion

Knowledge graphs (KGs) are powerful in terms of their inference abilities, but are also notorious for their incompleteness and long-tail distribution of relations. To address these challenges and expand the coverage of KGs, few-shot KG completion aims to make predictions for triplets involving novel relations when only a few training triplets are provided as reference. Previous methods have focused on designing local neighbor aggregators to learn entity-level information and/or imposing a potentially invalid sequential dependency assumption at the triplet level to learn meta relation information. However, pairwise triplet-level interactions and context-level relational information have been largely overlooked for learning meta representations of few-shot relations. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical relational learning method (HiRe) for few-shot KG completion. By jointly capturing three levels of relational information (entity-level, triplet-level and context-level), HiRe can effectively learn and refine meta representations of few-shot relations, and thus generalize well to new unseen relations. SePO: Self-Evolving Prompt Agent for System Prompt Optimization

System prompt optimization improves agent behavior without modifying the underlying model, yielding human-readable, model-agnostic instructions. Existing methods build a prompt agent that refines task agents' system prompts, yet leave the prompt agent's own system prompt hand-engineered and fixed. We propose Self-Evolving Prompt Optimization (SePO), which treats the prompt agent's own system prompt as an optimization target alongside task agents' system prompts. SePO adopts a self-referential design. A single prompt agent improves both task agents' system prompts and its own under an open-ended evolutionary search that maintains an archive of candidate prompts as stepping stones. Training proceeds in two stages: pre-training evolves the prompt agent on a multi-task pool, and fine-tuning then applies it to a target task. Across five benchmarks spanning math (AIME'25), abstract reasoning (ARC-AGI-1), graduate-level science (GPQA), code generation (MBPP), and logic puzzles (Sudoku), SePO consistently outperforms Manual-CoT, TextGrad, and MetaSPO, improving the average accuracy by 4.49 points compared to Manual-CoT. The prompt optimization skill from pre-training also generalizes to tasks beyond the pre-training mixture, rather than memorizing per-task prompts.

Multi-View Vertebra Localization and Identification from CT Images

Accurately localizing and identifying vertebrae from CT images is crucial for various clinical applications. However, most existing efforts are performed on 3D with cropping patch operation, suffering from the large computation costs and limited global information. In this paper, we propose a multi-view vertebra localization and identification from CT images, converting the 3D problem into a 2D localization and identification task on different views. Without the limitation of the 3D cropped patch, our method can learn the multi-view global information naturally. Moreover, to better capture the anatomical structure information from different view perspectives, a multi-view contrastive learning strategy is developed to pre-train the backbone. Additionally, we further propose a Sequence Loss to maintain the sequential structure embedded along the vertebrae. Evaluation results demonstrate that, with only two 2D networks, our method can localize and identify vertebrae in CT images accurately, and outperforms the state-of-the-art methods consistently. Zero-shot Cross-lingual Conversational Semantic Role Labeling

While conversational semantic role labeling (CSRL) has shown its usefulness on Chinese conversational tasks, it is still under-explored in non-Chinese languages due to the lack of multilingual CSRL annotations for the parser training. To avoid expensive data collection and error-propagation of translation-based methods, we present a simple but effective approach to perform zero-shot cross-lingual CSRL. Our model implicitly learns language-agnostic, conversational structure-aware and semantically rich representations with the hierarchical encoders and elaborately designed pre-training objectives. Experimental results show that our model outperforms all baselines by large margins on two newly collected English CSRL test sets. More importantly, we confirm the usefulness of CSRL to non-Chinese conversational tasks such as the question-in-context rewriting task in English and the multi-turn dialogue response generation tasks in English, German and Japanese by incorporating the CSRL information into the downstream conversation-based models. We believe this finding is significant and will facilitate the research of non-Chinese dialogue tasks which suffer the problems of ellipsis and anaphora.

Learning Localization-aware Target Confidence for Siamese Visual Tracking

Siamese tracking paradigm has achieved great success, providing effective appearance discrimination and size estimation by the classification and regression. While such a paradigm typically optimizes the classification and regression independently, leading to task misalignment (accurate prediction boxes have no high target confidence scores). In this paper, to alleviate this misalignment, we propose a novel tracking paradigm, called SiamLA. Within this paradigm, a series of simple, yet effective localization-aware components are introduced, to generate localization-aware target confidence scores. Specifically, with the proposed localization-aware dynamic label (LADL) loss and localization-aware label smoothing (LALS) strategy, collaborative optimization between the classification and regression is achieved, enabling classification scores to be aware of location state, not just appearance similarity. Besides, we propose a separate localization branch, centered on a localization-aware feature aggregation (LAFA) module, to produce location quality scores to further modify the classification scores. Consequently, the resulting target confidence scores, are more discriminative for the location state, allowing accurate prediction boxes tend to be predicted as high scores. Extensive experiments are conducted on six challenging benchmarks, including GOT-10k, TrackingNet, LaSOT, TNL2K, OTB100 and VOT2018. Our SiamLA achieves state-of-the-art performance in terms of both accuracy and efficiency. Furthermore, a stability analysis reveals that our tracking paradigm is relatively stable, implying the paradigm is potential to real-world applications.

CoCA: Regaining Safety-awareness of Multimodal Large Language Models with Constitutional Calibration

The deployment of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) has demonstrated remarkable success in engaging in conversations involving visual inputs, thanks to the superior power of large language models (LLMs). Those MLLMs are typically built based on the LLMs, with an image encoder to process images into the token embedding space of the LLMs. However, the integration of visual modality has introduced a unique vulnerability: the MLLM becomes susceptible to malicious visual inputs and prone to generating sensitive or harmful responses, even though the LLM has been trained on textual dataset to align with human value. In this paper, we first raise the question: ``Do the MLLMs possess safety-awareness against malicious image inputs?". We find that after adding a principle that specifies the safety requirement into the input of the MLLM, the model's safety awareness becomes boosted. This phenomenon verifies the existence of MLLM's safety-awareness against image inputs, it is only weakened by the modality gap. We then introduce a simple yet effective technique termed CoCA, which amplifies the safety-awareness of the MLLM by calibrating its output distribution. Our proposed strategy helps the model reclaim its original safety awareness without losing its original capabilities. We verify the effectiveness of our approach on both multimodal safety and understanding benchmarks.

A Survey on Generative Recommendation: Data, Model, and Tasks

Recommender systems serve as foundational infrastructure in modern information ecosystems, helping users navigate digital content and discover items aligned with their preferences. At their core, recommender systems address a fundamental problem: matching users with items. Over the past decades, the field has experienced successive paradigm shifts, from collaborative filtering and matrix factorization in the machine learning era to neural architectures in the deep learning era. Recently, the emergence of generative models, especially large language models (LLMs) and diffusion models, have sparked a new paradigm: generative recommendation, which reconceptualizes recommendation as a generation task rather than discriminative scoring. This survey provides a comprehensive examination through a unified tripartite framework spanning data, model, and task dimensions. Rather than simply categorizing works, we systematically decompose approaches into operational stages-data augmentation and unification, model alignment and training, task formulation and execution. At the data level, generative models enable knowledge-infused augmentation and agent-based simulation while unifying heterogeneous signals. At the model level, we taxonomize LLM-based methods, large recommendation models, and diffusion approaches, analyzing their alignment mechanisms and innovations. At the task level, we illuminate new capabilities including conversational interaction, explainable reasoning, and personalized content generation. We identify five key advantages: world knowledge integration, natural language understanding, reasoning capabilities, scaling laws, and creative generation. We critically examine challenges in benchmark design, model robustness, and deployment efficiency, while charting a roadmap toward intelligent recommendation assistants that fundamentally reshape human-information interaction.

A Sentence is Worth 128 Pseudo Tokens: A Semantic-Aware Contrastive Learning Framework for Sentence Embeddings

Contrastive learning has shown great potential in unsupervised sentence embedding tasks, e.g., SimCSE. However, We find that these existing solutions are heavily affected by superficial features like the length of sentences or syntactic structures. In this paper, we propose a semantics-aware contrastive learning framework for sentence embeddings, termed Pseudo-Token BERT (PT-BERT), which is able to exploit the pseudo-token space (i.e., latent semantic space) representation of a sentence while eliminating the impact of superficial features such as sentence length and syntax. Specifically, we introduce an additional pseudo token embedding layer independent of the BERT encoder to map each sentence into a sequence of pseudo tokens in a fixed length. Leveraging these pseudo sequences, we are able to construct same-length positive and negative pairs based on the attention mechanism to perform contrastive learning. In addition, we utilize both the gradient-updating and momentum-updating encoders to encode instances while dynamically maintaining an additional queue to store the representation of sentence embeddings, enhancing the encoder's learning performance for negative examples. Experiments show that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines on six standard semantic textual similarity (STS) tasks. Furthermore, experiments on alignments and uniformity losses, as well as hard examples with different sentence lengths and syntax, consistently verify the effectiveness of our method.

VT-GAN: Cooperative Tabular Data Synthesis using Vertical Federated Learning

This paper presents the application of Vertical Federated Learning (VFL) to generate synthetic tabular data using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). VFL is a collaborative approach to train machine learning models among distinct tabular data holders, such as financial institutions, who possess disjoint features for the same group of customers. In this paper we introduce the VT-GAN framework, Vertical federated Tabular GAN, and demonstrate that VFL can be successfully used to implement GANs for distributed tabular data in privacy-preserving manner, with performance close to centralized GANs that assume shared data. We make design choices with respect to the distribution of GAN generator and discriminator models and introduce a training-with-shuffling technique so that no party can reconstruct training data from the GAN conditional vector. The paper presents (1) an implementation of VT-GAN, (2) a detailed quality evaluation of the VT-GAN-generated synthetic data, (3) an overall scalability examination of VT-GAN framework, (4) a security analysis on VT-GAN's robustness against Membership Inference Attack with different settings of Differential Privacy, for a range of datasets with diverse distribution characteristics. Our results demonstrate that VT-GAN can consistently generate high-fidelity synthetic tabular data of comparable quality to that generated by a centralized GAN algorithm. The difference in machine learning utility can be as low as 2.7%, even under extremely imbalanced data distributions across clients or with different numbers of clients.

Geometry-Aware Attenuation Learning for Sparse-View CBCT Reconstruction

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) plays a vital role in clinical imaging. Traditional methods typically require hundreds of 2D X-ray projections to reconstruct a high-quality 3D CBCT image, leading to considerable radiation exposure. This has led to a growing interest in sparse-view CBCT reconstruction to reduce radiation doses. While recent advances, including deep learning and neural rendering algorithms, have made strides in this area, these methods either produce unsatisfactory results or suffer from time inefficiency of individual optimization. In this paper, we introduce a novel geometry-aware encoder-decoder framework to solve this problem. Our framework starts by encoding multi-view 2D features from various 2D X-ray projections with a 2D CNN encoder. Leveraging the geometry of CBCT scanning, it then back-projects the multi-view 2D features into the 3D space to formulate a comprehensive volumetric feature map, followed by a 3D CNN decoder to recover 3D CBCT image. Importantly, our approach respects the geometric relationship between 3D CBCT image and its 2D X-ray projections during feature back projection stage, and enjoys the prior knowledge learned from the data population. This ensures its adaptability in dealing with extremly sparse view inputs without individual training, such as scenarios with only 5 or 10 X-ray projections. Extensive evaluations on two simulated datasets and one real-world dataset demonstrate exceptional reconstruction quality and time efficiency of our method.

Partial Likelihood Thompson Sampling

We consider the problem of deciding how best to target and prioritize existing vaccines that may offer protection against new variants of an infectious disease. Sequential experiments are a promising approach; however, challenges due to delayed feedback and the overall ebb and flow of disease prevalence make available methods inapplicable for this task. We present a method, partial likelihood Thompson sampling, that can handle these challenges. Our method involves running Thompson sampling with belief updates determined by partial likelihood each time we observe an event. To test our approach, we ran a semi-synthetic experiment based on 200 days of COVID-19 infection data in the US.

IFPV: An Integrated Multi-Agent Framework for Generative Operational Planning and High-Fidelity Plan Verification

Operational plan generation and verification are critical for modern complex and rapidly changing battlefield environments, yet traditional generation and verification methods still respectively face the challenges of generation infeasibility and verification insufficiency. To alleviate these limitations, we propose an Integrated Multi-Agent Framework for Generative Operational Planning and High-Fidelity Plan Verification (IFPV). IFPV consists of two tightly coupled modules: Multi-Perspective Hierarchical Agents (MPHA) for generative operational planning and an Adversarial Cognitive Simulation Engine (ACSE) for high-fidelity adversarial plan verification. MPHA decomposes commander intent into executable multi-platform tactical action sequences through the collaboration of Pathfinder, Analyst, and Planner agents. ACSE introduces an opponent equipped with a customized world model, which predicts the future evolution of mission-critical platforms and conducts dynamic counteractions against candidate plans. Simulation experiments in the Asymmetric Combat Tactic Simulator (ACTS) show that IFPV improves mission success by 19.4% and reduces operational cost by 41.7% compared with a single-step large language model (LLM) planning baseline. Compared with a traditional rule-based validator, ACSE increases the average suppression rate by 31.8%, indicating that the proposed verification environment is stricter and more discriminative in revealing the latent vulnerabilities of candidate plans. Adversarial Detection: Attacking Object Detection in Real Time

Intelligent robots rely on object detection models to perceive the environment. Following advances in deep learning security it has been revealed that object detection models are vulnerable to adversarial attacks. However, prior research primarily focuses on attacking static images or offline videos. Therefore, it is still unclear if such attacks could jeopardize real-world robotic applications in dynamic environments. This paper bridges this gap by presenting the first real-time online attack against object detection models. We devise three attacks that fabricate bounding boxes for nonexistent objects at desired locations. The attacks achieve a success rate of about 90% within about 20 iterations. LDRNet: Enabling Real-time Document Localization on Mobile Devices

While Identity Document Verification (IDV) technology on mobile devices becomes ubiquitous in modern business operations, the risk of identity theft and fraud is increasing. The identity document holder is normally required to participate in an online video interview to circumvent impostors. However, the current IDV process depends on an additional human workforce to support online step-by-step guidance which is inefficient and expensive. The performance of existing AI-based approaches cannot meet the real-time and lightweight demands of mobile devices. In this paper, we address those challenges by designing an edge intelligence-assisted approach for real-time IDV. Aiming at improving the responsiveness of the IDV process, we propose a new document localization model for mobile devices, LDRNet, to Localize the identity Document in Real-time. On the basis of a lightweight backbone network, we build three prediction branches for LDRNet, the corner points prediction, the line borders prediction and the document classification. We design novel supplementary targets, the equal-division points, and use a new loss function named Line Loss, to improve the speed and accuracy of our approach. In addition to the IDV process, LDRNet is an efficient and reliable document localization alternative for all kinds of mobile applications. As a matter of proof, we compare the performance of LDRNet with other popular approaches on localizing general document datasets. The experimental results show that LDRNet runs at a speed up to 790 FPS which is 47x faster, while still achieving comparable Jaccard Index(JI) in single-model and single-scale tests.

Learning Locality and Isotropy in Dialogue Modeling

Existing dialogue modeling methods have achieved promising performance on various dialogue tasks with the aid of Transformer and the large-scale pre-trained language models. However, some recent studies revealed that the context representations produced by these methods suffer the problem of anisotropy. In this paper, we find that the generated representations are also not conversational, losing the conversation structure information during the context modeling stage. To this end, we identify two properties in dialogue modeling, i.e., locality and isotropy, and present a simple method for dialogue representation calibration, namely SimDRC, to build isotropic and conversational feature spaces. Experimental results show that our approach significantly outperforms the current state-of-the-art models on three dialogue tasks across the automatic and human evaluation metrics. More in-depth analyses further confirm the effectiveness of our proposed approach.

Merging Beyond: Streaming LLM Updates via Activation-Guided Rotations

The escalating scale of Large Language Models (LLMs) necessitates efficient adaptation techniques. Model merging has gained prominence for its efficiency and controllability. However, existing merging techniques typically serve as post-hoc refinements or focus on mitigating task interference, often failing to capture the dynamic optimization benefits of supervised fine-tuning (SFT). In this work, we propose Streaming Merging, an innovative model updating paradigm that conceptualizes merging as an iterative optimization process. Central to this paradigm is \textbf{ARM} (\textbf{A}ctivation-guided \textbf{R}otation-aware \textbf{M}erging), a strategy designed to approximate gradient descent dynamics. By treating merging coefficients as learning rates and deriving rotation vectors from activation subspaces, ARM effectively steers parameter updates along data-driven trajectories. Unlike conventional linear interpolation, ARM aligns semantic subspaces to preserve the geometric structure of high-dimensional parameter evolution. Remarkably, ARM requires only early SFT checkpoints and, through iterative merging, surpasses the fully converged SFT model. Experimental results across model scales (1.7B to 14B) and diverse domains (e.g., math, code) demonstrate that ARM can transcend converged checkpoints. Extensive experiments show that ARM provides a scalable and lightweight framework for efficient model adaptation.

Exponential Error Bounds for Information Bottleneck Source Coding Problems

We study the information bottleneck (IB) source coding problem, also known as remote lossy source coding under logarithmic loss. Based on a rate-limited description of noisy observations, the receiver produces a soft estimate for the remote source, i.e., a probability distribution, evaluated under the logarithmic loss. We focus on the excess distortion probability of IB source coding and investigate how fast it converges to 0 or 1, depending on whether the rate is above or below the rate-distortion function. The latter case is also known as the exponential strong converse. We establish both the exact error exponent and the exact strong converse exponent for IB source coding by deriving matching upper and lower exponential bounds. The obtained exponents involve optimizations over auxiliary random variables. The matching converse bounds are derived through non-trivial extensions of existing sphere packing and single-letterization techniques, which we adapt to incorporate auxiliary random variables. In the second part of this paper, we establish a code-level connection between IB source coding and source coding with a helper, also known as the Wyner-Ahlswede-Körner (WAK) problem. We show that every code for the WAK problem is a code for IB source coding. This requires noticing that IB source coding, under the excess distortion criterion, is equivalent to source coding with a helper available at both the transmitter and the receiver; the latter in turn relates to the WAK problem. Through this connection, we re-derive the best known sphere packing exponent of the WAK problem, and provide it with an operational interpretation.

Unlocking Efficient Long-to-Short LLM Reasoning with Model Merging

The transition from System 1 to System 2 reasoning in large language models (LLMs) has marked significant advancements in handling complex tasks through deliberate, iterative thinking. However, this progress often comes at the cost of efficiency, as models tend to overthink, generating redundant reasoning steps without proportional improvements in output quality. Long-to-Short (L2S) reasoning has emerged as a promising solution to this challenge, aiming to balance reasoning depth with practical efficiency. While existing approaches, such as supervised fine-tuning (SFT), reinforcement learning (RL), and prompt engineering, have shown potential, they are either computationally expensive or unstable. Model merging, on the other hand, offers a cost-effective and robust alternative by integrating the quick-thinking capabilities of System 1 models with the methodical reasoning of System 2 models. In this work, we present a comprehensive empirical study on model merging for L2S reasoning, exploring diverse methodologies, including task-vector-based, SVD-based, and activation-informed merging. Our experiments reveal that model merging can reduce average response length by up to 55% while preserving or even improving baseline performance. We also identify a strong correlation between model scale and merging efficacy with extensive evaluations on 1.5B/7B/14B/32B models. Furthermore, we investigate the merged model's ability to self-critique and self-correct, as well as its adaptive response length based on task complexity. Our findings highlight model merging as a highly efficient and effective paradigm for L2S reasoning, offering a practical solution to the overthinking problem while maintaining the robustness of System 2 reasoning. CLIP in Medical Imaging: A Survey

Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP), a simple yet effective pre-training paradigm, successfully introduces text supervision to vision models. It has shown promising results across various tasks due to its generalizability and interpretability. The use of CLIP has recently gained increasing interest in the medical imaging domain, serving as a pre-training paradigm for image-text alignment, or a critical component in diverse clinical tasks. With the aim of facilitating a deeper understanding of this promising direction, this survey offers an in-depth exploration of the CLIP within the domain of medical imaging, regarding both refined CLIP pre-training and CLIP-driven applications. In this paper, we (1) first start with a brief introduction to the fundamentals of CLIP methodology; (2) then investigate the adaptation of CLIP pre-training in the medical imaging domain, focusing on how to optimize CLIP given characteristics of medical images and reports; (3) further explore practical utilization of CLIP pre-trained models in various tasks, including classification, dense prediction, and cross-modal tasks; and (4) finally discuss existing limitations of CLIP in the context of medical imaging, and propose forward-looking directions to address the demands of medical imaging domain. Studies featuring technical and practical value are both investigated. We expect this survey will provide researchers with a holistic understanding of the CLIP paradigm and its potential implications. Data-efficient Large Vision Models through Sequential Autoregression

Training general-purpose vision models on purely sequential visual data, eschewing linguistic inputs, has heralded a new frontier in visual understanding. These models are intended to not only comprehend but also seamlessly transit to out-of-domain tasks. However, current endeavors are hamstrung by an over-reliance on colossal models, exemplified by models with upwards of 3B parameters, and the necessity for an extensive corpus of visual data, often comprising a staggering 400B tokens. In this paper, we delve into the development of an efficient, autoregression-based vision model, innovatively architected to operate on a limited dataset. We meticulously demonstrate how this model achieves proficiency in a spectrum of visual tasks spanning both high-level and low-level semantic understanding during the testing phase. Our empirical evaluations underscore the model's agility in adapting to various tasks, heralding a significant reduction in the parameter footprint, and a marked decrease in training data requirements, thereby paving the way for more sustainable and accessible advancements in the field of generalist vision models. RouteMoA: Dynamic Routing without Pre-Inference Boosts Efficient Mixture-of-Agents

Mixture-of-Agents (MoA) improves LLM performance through layered collaboration, but its dense topology raises costs and latency. Existing methods employ LLM judges to filter responses, yet still require all models to perform inference before judging, failing to cut costs effectively. They also lack model selection criteria and struggle with large model pools, where full inference is costly and can exceed context limits. To address this, we propose RouteMoA, an efficient mixture-of-agents framework with dynamic routing. It employs a lightweight scorer to perform initial screening by predicting coarse-grained performance from the query, narrowing candidates to a high-potential subset without inference. A mixture of judges then refines these scores through lightweight self- and cross-assessment based on existing model outputs, providing posterior correction without additional inference. Finally, a model ranking mechanism selects models by balancing performance, cost, and latency. RouteMoA outperforms MoA across varying tasks and model pool sizes, reducing cost by 89.8% and latency by 63.6% in the large-scale model pool.

BPP-Search: Enhancing Tree of Thought Reasoning for Mathematical Modeling Problem Solving

LLMs exhibit advanced reasoning capabilities, offering the potential to transform natural language questions into mathematical models. However, existing open-source datasets in operations research domain lack detailed annotations of the modeling process, such as variable definitions, focusing solely on objective values, which hinders reinforcement learning applications. To address this, we release the StructuredOR dataset, annotated with comprehensive labels that capture the complete mathematical modeling process. We further propose BPP-Search, an algorithm that integrates reinforcement learning into a tree-of-thought structure using Beam search, a Process reward model, and a pairwise Preference algorithm. This approach enables efficient exploration of tree structures, avoiding exhaustive search while improving accuracy. Extensive experiments on StructuredOR, NL4OPT, and MAMO-ComplexLP datasets show that BPP-Search significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. In tree-based reasoning, BPP-Search excels in accuracy and efficiency, enabling faster retrieval of correct solutions. RecGPT-V2 Technical Report

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable potential in transforming recommender systems from implicit behavioral pattern matching to explicit intent reasoning. While RecGPT-V1 successfully pioneered this paradigm by integrating LLM-based reasoning into user interest mining and item tag prediction, it suffers from four fundamental limitations: (1) computational inefficiency and cognitive redundancy across multiple reasoning routes; (2) insufficient explanation diversity in fixed-template generation; (3) limited generalization under supervised learning paradigms; and (4) simplistic outcome-focused evaluation that fails to match human standards. To address these challenges, we present RecGPT-V2 with four key innovations. First, a Hierarchical Multi-Agent System restructures intent reasoning through coordinated collaboration, eliminating cognitive duplication while enabling diverse intent coverage. Combined with Hybrid Representation Inference that compresses user-behavior contexts, our framework reduces GPU consumption by 60% and improves exclusive recall from 9.39% to 10.99%. Second, a Meta-Prompting framework dynamically generates contextually adaptive prompts, improving explanation diversity by +7.3%. Third, constrained reinforcement learning mitigates multi-reward conflicts, achieving +24.1% improvement in tag prediction and +13.0% in explanation acceptance. Fourth, an Agent-as-a-Judge framework decomposes assessment into multi-step reasoning, improving human preference alignment. Online A/B tests on Taobao demonstrate significant improvements: +2.98% CTR, +3.71% IPV, +2.19% TV, and +11.46% NER. RecGPT-V2 establishes both the technical feasibility and commercial viability of deploying LLM-powered intent reasoning at scale, bridging the gap between cognitive exploration and industrial utility.

Fine-grained Conversational Decoding via Isotropic and Proximal Search

General-purpose text decoding approaches are usually adopted for dialogue response generation. Although the quality of the generated responses can be improved with dialogue-specific encoding methods, conversational decoding methods are still under-explored. Inspired by \citet{wu2023learning} that a good dialogue feature space should follow the rules of locality and isotropy, we present a fine-grained conversational decoding method, termed \textit{isotropic and proximal search (IPS)}. Our method is designed to generate the semantic-concentrated response, while still maintaining informativeness and discrimination against the context. Experiments show that our approach outperforms existing decoding strategies in the dialogue field across both automatic and human evaluation metrics. More in-depth analyses further confirm the effectiveness of our approach.

SciHorizon: Benchmarking AI-for-Science Readiness from Scientific Data to Large Language Models

In recent years, the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), has revolutionized the paradigm of scientific discovery, establishing AI-for-Science (AI4Science) as a dynamic and evolving field. However, there is still a lack of an effective framework for the overall assessment of AI4Science, particularly from a holistic perspective on data quality and model capability. Therefore, in this study, we propose SciHorizon, a comprehensive assessment framework designed to benchmark the readiness of AI4Science from both scientific data and LLM perspectives. First, we introduce a generalizable framework for assessing AI-ready scientific data, encompassing four key dimensions: Quality, FAIRness, Explainability, and Compliance-which are subdivided into 15 sub-dimensions. Drawing on data resource papers published between 2018 and 2023 in peer-reviewed journals, we present recommendation lists of AI-ready datasets for Earth, Life, and Materials Sciences, making a novel and original contribution to the field. Concurrently, to assess the capabilities of LLMs across multiple scientific disciplines, we establish 16 assessment dimensions based on five core indicators Knowledge, Understanding, Reasoning, Multimodality, and Values spanning Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Earth and Space Sciences. Using the developed benchmark datasets, we have conducted a comprehensive evaluation of over 50 representative open-source and closed source LLMs. All the results are publicly available and can be accessed online at www.scihorizon.cn/en.

Bridging the Skill Gap in Clinical CBCT Interpretation with CBCTRepD

Generative AI has advanced rapidly in medical report generation; however, its application to oral and maxillofacial CBCT reporting remains limited, largely because of the scarcity of high-quality paired CBCT-report data and the intrinsic complexity of volumetric CBCT interpretation. To address this, we introduce CBCTRepD, a bilingual oral and maxillofacial CBCT report-generation system designed for integration into routine radiologist-AI co-authoring workflows. We curated a large-scale, high-quality paired CBCT-report dataset comprising approximately 7,408 studies, covering 55 oral disease entities across diverse acquisition settings, and used it to develop the system. We further established a clinically grounded, multi-level evaluation framework that assesses both direct AI-generated drafts and radiologist-edited collaboration reports using automatic metrics together with radiologist- and clinician-centered evaluation. Using this framework, we show that CBCTRepD achieves superior report-generation performance and produces drafts with writing quality and standardization comparable to those of intermediate radiologists. More importantly, in radiologist-AI collaboration, CBCTRepD provides consistent and clinically meaningful benefits across experience levels: it helps novice radiologists improve toward intermediate-level reporting, enables intermediate radiologists to approach senior-level performance, and even assists senior radiologists by reducing omission-related errors, including clinically important missed lesions. By improving report structure, reducing omissions, and promoting attention to co-existing lesions across anatomical regions, CBCTRepD shows strong and reliable potential as a practical assistant for real-world CBCT reporting across multi-level care settings.

ReaSeq: Unleashing World Knowledge via Reasoning for Sequential Modeling

Industrial recommender systems face two fundamental limitations under the log-driven paradigm: (1) knowledge poverty in ID-based item representations that causes brittle interest modeling under data sparsity, and (2) systemic blindness to beyond-log user interests that constrains model performance within platform boundaries. These limitations stem from an over-reliance on shallow interaction statistics and close-looped feedback while neglecting the rich world knowledge about product semantics and cross-domain behavioral patterns that Large Language Models have learned from vast corpora. To address these challenges, we introduce ReaSeq, a reasoning-enhanced framework that leverages world knowledge in Large Language Models to address both limitations through explicit and implicit reasoning. Specifically, ReaSeq employs explicit Chain-of-Thought reasoning via multi-agent collaboration to distill structured product knowledge into semantically enriched item representations, and latent reasoning via Diffusion Large Language Models to infer plausible beyond-log behaviors. Deployed on Taobao's ranking system serving hundreds of millions of users, ReaSeq achieves substantial gains: >6.0% in IPV and CTR, >2.9% in Orders, and >2.5% in GMV, validating the effectiveness of world-knowledge-enhanced reasoning over purely log-driven approaches.

A Human-in-the-Middle Attack against Object Detection Systems

Object detection systems using deep learning models have become increasingly popular in robotics thanks to the rising power of CPUs and GPUs in embedded systems. However, these models are susceptible to adversarial attacks. While some attacks are limited by strict assumptions on access to the detection system, we propose a novel hardware attack inspired by Man-in-the-Middle attacks in cryptography. This attack generates a Universal Adversarial Perturbations (UAP) and injects the perturbation between the USB camera and the detection system via a hardware attack. Besides, prior research is misled by an evaluation metric that measures the model accuracy rather than the attack performance. In combination with our proposed evaluation metrics, we significantly increased the strength of adversarial perturbations. These findings raise serious concerns for applications of deep learning models in safety-critical systems, such as autonomous driving.

Dual Cross-image Semantic Consistency with Self-aware Pseudo Labeling for Semi-supervised Medical Image Segmentation

Semi-supervised learning has proven highly effective in tackling the challenge of limited labeled training data in medical image segmentation. In general, current approaches, which rely on intra-image pixel-wise consistency training via pseudo-labeling, overlook the consistency at more comprehensive semantic levels (e.g., object region) and suffer from severe discrepancy of extracted features resulting from an imbalanced number of labeled and unlabeled data. To overcome these limitations, we present a new \underline{Du}al \underline{C}ross-\underline{i}mage \underline{S}emantic \underline{C}onsistency (DuCiSC) learning framework, for semi-supervised medical image segmentation. Concretely, beyond enforcing pixel-wise semantic consistency, DuCiSC proposes dual paradigms to encourage region-level semantic consistency across: 1) labeled and unlabeled images; and 2) labeled and fused images, by explicitly aligning their prototypes. Relying on the dual paradigms, DuCiSC can effectively establish consistent cross-image semantics via prototype representations, thereby addressing the feature discrepancy issue. Moreover, we devise a novel self-aware confidence estimation strategy to accurately select reliable pseudo labels, allowing for exploiting the training dynamics of unlabeled data. Our DuCiSC method is extensively validated on four datasets, including two popular binary benchmarks in segmenting the left atrium and pancreas, a multi-class Automatic Cardiac Diagnosis Challenge dataset, and a challenging scenario of segmenting the inferior alveolar nerve that features complicated anatomical structures, showing superior segmentation results over previous state-of-the-art approaches. VC-Soup: Value-Consistency Guided Multi-Value Alignment for Large Language Models

As large language models (LLMs) increasingly shape content generation, interaction, and decision-making across the Web, aligning them with human values has become a central objective in trustworthy AI. This challenge becomes even more pronounced when aligning multiple, potentially conflicting human values. Although recent approaches, such as reward reweighting, prompt-based supervised fine-tuning, and model merging, attempt to tackle multi-value alignment, they still face two major limitations: (1) training separate models for each value combination is prohibitively expensive; (2) value conflicts substantially degrade alignment performance. These limitations make it difficult to achieve favorable trade-offs across diverse human values. To address these challenges, we revisit multi-value alignment from the perspective of value consistency in data and propose VC-soup, a data filtering and parameter merging framework grounded in value-consistent learning. We first design a value consistency metric based on the cosine similarity between the reward-gap vector of each preference pair and an all-ones vector, which quantifies its cross-value coherence. We then filter out low-consistency preference pairs in each value dataset and train on the remaining data to obtain smooth, value-consistent policy models that better preserve linear mode connectivity. Finally, we linearly combine these policies and apply Pareto filtering across values to obtain solutions with balanced multi-value performance. Extensive experiments and theoretical analysis demonstrate that VC-soup effectively mitigates conflicts and consistently outperforms existing multi-value alignment methods.

Preserving LLM Capabilities through Calibration Data Curation: From Analysis to Optimization

Post-training compression has been a widely employed approach to scale down large language model (LLM) and facilitate efficient inference. In various proposed compression methods, including pruning and quantization, calibration data plays a vital role by informing the weight importance and activation dynamic ranges. However, how calibration data impacts the LLM capability after compression is less explored. Few of the existing works, though recognizing the significance of this study, only investigate the language modeling or commonsense reasoning performance degradation from limited angles, like the data sources or sample amounts. More systematic research is still needed to examine the impacts on different LLM capabilities in terms of compositional properties and domain correspondence of calibration data. In this work, we aim at bridging this gap and further analyze underlying influencing mechanisms from the activation pattern perspective. Especially, we explore the calibration data's impacts on high-level complex reasoning capabilities, like math problem solving and code generation. Delving into the underlying mechanism, we find that the representativeness and diversity in activation space more fundamentally determine the quality of calibration data. Finally, we propose a calibration data curation framework based on such observations and analysis, enhancing the performance of existing post-training compression methods on preserving critical LLM capabilities. Adapting Foundation Model for Dental Caries Detection with Dual-View Co-Training

Accurate dental caries detection from panoramic X-rays plays a pivotal role in preventing lesion progression. However, current detection methods often yield suboptimal accuracy due to subtle contrast variations and diverse lesion morphology of dental caries. In this work, inspired by the clinical workflow where dentists systematically combine whole-image screening with detailed tooth-level inspection, we present DVCTNet, a novel Dual-View Co-Training network for accurate dental caries detection. Our DVCTNet starts with employing automated tooth detection to establish two complementary views: a global view from panoramic X-ray images and a local view from cropped tooth images. We then pretrain two vision foundation models separately on the two views. The global-view foundation model serves as the detection backbone, generating region proposals and global features, while the local-view model extracts detailed features from corresponding cropped tooth patches matched by the region proposals. To effectively integrate information from both views, we introduce a Gated Cross-View Attention (GCV-Atten) module that dynamically fuses dual-view features, enhancing the detection pipeline by integrating the fused features back into the detection model for final caries detection. To rigorously evaluate our DVCTNet, we test it on a public dataset and further validate its performance on a newly curated, high-precision dental caries detection dataset, annotated using both intra-oral images and panoramic X-rays for double verification. Experimental results demonstrate DVCTNet's superior performance against existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods on both datasets, indicating the clinical applicability of our method. AFABench: A Generic Framework for Benchmarking Active Feature Acquisition

In many real-world scenarios, acquiring all features of a data instance can be expensive or impractical due to monetary cost, latency, or privacy concerns. Active Feature Acquisition (AFA) addresses this challenge by dynamically selecting a subset of informative features for each data instance, trading predictive performance against acquisition cost. While numerous methods have been proposed for AFA, ranging from greedy information-theoretic strategies to non-myopic reinforcement learning approaches, fair and systematic evaluation of these methods has been hindered by the lack of standardized benchmarks. In this paper, we introduce AFABench, the first benchmark framework for AFA. Our benchmark includes a diverse set of synthetic and real-world datasets, supports a wide range of acquisition policies, and provides a modular design that enables easy integration of new methods and tasks. We implement and evaluate representative algorithms from all major categories, including static, greedy, and reinforcement learning-based approaches. To test the lookahead capabilities of AFA policies, we introduce a novel synthetic dataset, AFAContext, designed to expose the limitations of greedy selection. Our results highlight key trade-offs between different AFA strategies and provide actionable insights for future research. One-shot Face Sketch Synthesis in the Wild via Generative Diffusion Prior and Instruction Tuning

Face sketch synthesis is a technique aimed at converting face photos into sketches. Existing face sketch synthesis research mainly relies on training with numerous photo-sketch sample pairs from existing datasets. However, these large-scale discriminative learning methods will have to face problems such as data scarcity and high human labor costs. Once the training data becomes scarce, their generative performance significantly degrades. In this paper, we propose a one-shot face sketch synthesis method based on diffusion models. We optimize text instructions on a diffusion model using face photo-sketch image pairs. Then, the instructions derived through gradient-based optimization are used for inference. To simulate real-world scenarios more accurately and evaluate method effectiveness more comprehensively, we introduce a new benchmark named One-shot Face Sketch Dataset (OS-Sketch). The benchmark consists of 400 pairs of face photo-sketch images, including sketches with different styles and photos with different backgrounds, ages, sexes, expressions, illumination, etc. For a solid out-of-distribution evaluation, we select only one pair of images for training at each time, with the rest used for inference. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can convert various photos into realistic and highly consistent sketches in a one-shot context. Cephalometric Landmark Detection across Ages with Prototypical Network

Automated cephalometric landmark detection is crucial in real-world orthodontic diagnosis. Current studies mainly focus on only adult subjects, neglecting the clinically crucial scenario presented by adolescents whose landmarks often exhibit significantly different appearances compared to adults. Hence, an open question arises about how to develop a unified and effective detection algorithm across various age groups, including adolescents and adults. In this paper, we propose CeLDA, the first work for Cephalometric Landmark Detection across Ages. Our method leverages a prototypical network for landmark detection by comparing image features with landmark prototypes. To tackle the appearance discrepancy of landmarks between age groups, we design new strategies for CeLDA to improve prototype alignment and obtain a holistic estimation of landmark prototypes from a large set of training images. Moreover, a novel prototype relation mining paradigm is introduced to exploit the anatomical relations between the landmark prototypes. Extensive experiments validate the superiority of CeLDA in detecting cephalometric landmarks on both adult and adolescent subjects. To our knowledge, this is the first effort toward developing a unified solution and dataset for cephalometric landmark detection across age groups. GeminiFusion: Efficient Pixel-wise Multimodal Fusion for Vision Transformer

Cross-modal transformers have demonstrated superiority in various vision tasks by effectively integrating different modalities. This paper first critiques prior token exchange methods which replace less informative tokens with inter-modal features, and demonstrate exchange based methods underperform cross-attention mechanisms, while the computational demand of the latter inevitably restricts its use with longer sequences. To surmount the computational challenges, we propose GeminiFusion, a pixel-wise fusion approach that capitalizes on aligned cross-modal representations. GeminiFusion elegantly combines intra-modal and inter-modal attentions, dynamically integrating complementary information across modalities. We employ a layer-adaptive noise to adaptively control their interplay on a per-layer basis, thereby achieving a harmonized fusion process. Notably, GeminiFusion maintains linear complexity with respect to the number of input tokens, ensuring this multimodal framework operates with efficiency comparable to unimodal networks. Comprehensive evaluations across multimodal image-to-image translation, 3D object detection and arbitrary-modal semantic segmentation tasks, including RGB, depth, LiDAR, event data, etc. demonstrate the superior performance of our GeminiFusion against leading-edge techniques. DENTEX: Dental Enumeration and Tooth Pathosis Detection Benchmark for Panoramic X-ray

Panoramic X-rays are frequently used in dentistry for treatment planning, but their interpretation can be both time-consuming and prone to error. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to aid in the analysis of these X-rays, thereby improving the accuracy of dental diagnoses and treatment plans. Nevertheless, designing automated algorithms for this purpose poses significant challenges, mainly due to the scarcity of annotated data and variations in anatomical structure. To address these issues, we organized the Dental Enumeration and Diagnosis on Panoramic X-rays Challenge (DENTEX) in association with the International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) in 2023. This challenge aims to promote the development of algorithms for multi-label detection of abnormal teeth, using three types of hierarchically annotated data: partially annotated quadrant data, partially annotated quadrant-enumeration data, and fully annotated quadrant-enumeration-diagnosis data, inclusive of four different diagnoses. In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of the methods and results from the challenge. Our findings reveal that top performers succeeded through diverse, specialized strategies, from segmentation-guided pipelines to highly-engineered single-stage detectors, using advanced Transformer and diffusion models. These strategies significantly outperformed traditional approaches, particularly for the challenging tasks of tooth enumeration and subtle disease classification. By dissecting the architectural choices that drove success, this paper provides key insights for future development of AI-powered tools that can offer more precise and efficient diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry. VCSUM: A Versatile Chinese Meeting Summarization Dataset

Compared to news and chat summarization, the development of meeting summarization is hugely decelerated by the limited data. To this end, we introduce a versatile Chinese meeting summarization dataset, dubbed VCSum, consisting of 239 real-life meetings, with a total duration of over 230 hours. We claim our dataset is versatile because we provide the annotations of topic segmentation, headlines, segmentation summaries, overall meeting summaries, and salient sentences for each meeting transcript. As such, the dataset can adapt to various summarization tasks or methods, including segmentation-based summarization, multi-granularity summarization and retrieval-then-generate summarization. Our analysis confirms the effectiveness and robustness of VCSum. We also provide a set of benchmark models regarding different downstream summarization tasks on VCSum to facilitate further research. Know Your Customer: Balancing Innovation and Regulation for Financial Inclusion

Financial inclusion depends on providing adjusted services for citizens with disclosed vulnerabilities. At the same time, the financial industry needs to adhere to a strict regulatory framework, which is often in conflict with the desire for inclusive, adaptive, and privacy-preserving services. In this article we study how this tension impacts the deployment of privacy-sensitive technologies aimed at financial inclusion. We conduct a qualitative study with banking experts to understand their perspectives on service development for financial inclusion. We build and demonstrate a prototype solution based on open source decentralized identifiers and verifiable credentials software and report on feedback from the banking experts on this system. The technology is promising thanks to its selective disclosure of vulnerabilities to the full control of the individual. This supports GDPR requirements, but at the same time, there is a clear tension between introducing these technologies and fulfilling other regulatory requirements, particularly with respect to 'Know Your Customer.' We consider the policy implications stemming from these tensions and provide guidelines for the further design of related technologies.

Hire-MLP: Vision MLP via Hierarchical Rearrangement

Previous vision MLPs such as MLP-Mixer and ResMLP accept linearly flattened image patches as input, making them inflexible for different input sizes and hard to capture spatial information. Such approach withholds MLPs from getting comparable performance with their transformer-based counterparts and prevents them from becoming a general backbone for computer vision. This paper presents Hire-MLP, a simple yet competitive vision MLP architecture via \textbf{Hi}erarchical \textbf{re}arrangement, which contains two levels of rearrangements. Specifically, the inner-region rearrangement is proposed to capture local information inside a spatial region, and the cross-region rearrangement is proposed to enable information communication between different regions and capture global context by circularly shifting all tokens along spatial directions. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of Hire-MLP as a versatile backbone for various vision tasks. In particular, Hire-MLP achieves competitive results on image classification, object detection and semantic segmentation tasks, e.g., 83.8% top-1 accuracy on ImageNet, 51.7% box AP and 44.8% mask AP on COCO val2017, and 49.9% mIoU on ADE20K, surpassing previous transformer-based and MLP-based models with better trade-off for accuracy and throughput. Distilling Object Detectors via Decoupled Features

Knowledge distillation is a widely used paradigm for inheriting information from a complicated teacher network to a compact student network and maintaining the strong performance. Different from image classification, object detectors are much more sophisticated with multiple loss functions in which features that semantic information rely on are tangled. In this paper, we point out that the information of features derived from regions excluding objects are also essential for distilling the student detector, which is usually ignored in existing approaches. In addition, we elucidate that features from different regions should be assigned with different importance during distillation. To this end, we present a novel distillation algorithm via decoupled features (DeFeat) for learning a better student detector. Specifically, two levels of decoupled features will be processed for embedding useful information into the student, i.e., decoupled features from neck and decoupled proposals from classification head. Extensive experiments on various detectors with different backbones show that the proposed DeFeat is able to surpass the state-of-the-art distillation methods for object detection. For example, DeFeat improves ResNet50 based Faster R-CNN from 37.4% to 40.9% mAP, and improves ResNet50 based RetinaNet from 36.5% to 39.7% mAP on COCO benchmark. Hit-Detector: Hierarchical Trinity Architecture Search for Object Detection

Neural Architecture Search (NAS) has achieved great success in image classification task. Some recent works have managed to explore the automatic design of efficient backbone or feature fusion layer for object detection. However, these methods focus on searching only one certain component of object detector while leaving others manually designed. We identify the inconsistency between searched component and manually designed ones would withhold the detector of stronger performance. To this end, we propose a hierarchical trinity search framework to simultaneously discover efficient architectures for all components (i.e. backbone, neck, and head) of object detector in an end-to-end manner. In addition, we empirically reveal that different parts of the detector prefer different operators. Motivated by this, we employ a novel scheme to automatically screen different sub search spaces for different components so as to perform the end-to-end search for each component on the corresponding sub search space efficiently. Without bells and whistles, our searched architecture, namely Hit-Detector, achieves 41.4\% mAP on COCO minival set with 27M parameters. Long-term Joint Scheduling for Urban Traffic

Recently, the traffic congestion in modern cities has become a growing worry for the residents. As presented in Baidu traffic report, the commuting stress index has reached surprising 1.973 in Beijing during rush hours, which results in longer trip time and increased vehicular queueing. Previous works have demonstrated that by reasonable scheduling, e.g, rebalancing bike-sharing systems and optimized bus transportation, the traffic efficiency could be significantly improved with little resource consumption. However, there are still two disadvantages that restrict their performance: (1) they only consider single scheduling in a short time, but ignoring the layout after first reposition, and (2) they only focus on the single transport. However, the multi-modal characteristics of urban public transportation are largely under-exploited. In this paper, we propose an efficient and economical multi-modal traffic scheduling scheme named JLRLS based on spatio -temporal prediction, which adopts reinforcement learning to obtain optimal long-term and joint schedule. In JLRLS, we combines multiple transportation to conduct scheduling by their own characteristics, which potentially helps the system to reach the optimal performance. Distributed Black-box Attack: Do Not Overestimate Black-box Attacks

As cloud computing becomes pervasive, deep learning models are deployed on cloud servers and then provided as APIs to end users. However, black-box adversarial attacks can fool image classification models without access to model structure and weights. Recent studies have reported attack success rates of over 95% with fewer than 1,000 queries. Then the question arises: whether black-box attacks have become a real threat against cloud APIs? To shed some light on this, our research indicates that black-box attacks are not as effective against cloud APIs as proposed in research papers due to several common mistakes that overestimate the efficiency of black-box attacks. To avoid similar mistakes, we conduct black-box attacks directly on cloud APIs rather than local models.

SIRST-5K: Exploring Massive Negatives Synthesis with Self-supervised Learning for Robust Infrared Small Target Detection

Single-frame infrared small target (SIRST) detection aims to recognize small targets from clutter backgrounds. Recently, convolutional neural networks have achieved significant advantages in general object detection. With the development of Transformer, the scale of SIRST models is constantly increasing. Due to the limited training samples, performance has not been improved accordingly. The quality, quantity, and diversity of the infrared dataset are critical to the detection of small targets. To highlight this issue, we propose a negative sample augmentation method in this paper. Specifically, a negative augmentation approach is proposed to generate massive negatives for self-supervised learning. Firstly, we perform a sequential noise modeling technology to generate realistic infrared data. Secondly, we fuse the extracted noise with the original data to facilitate diversity and fidelity in the generated data. Lastly, we proposed a negative augmentation strategy to enrich diversity as well as maintain semantic invariance. The proposed algorithm produces a synthetic SIRST-5K dataset, which contains massive pseudo-data and corresponding labels. With a rich diversity of infrared small target data, our algorithm significantly improves the model performance and convergence speed. Compared with other state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods, our method achieves outstanding performance in terms of probability of detection (Pd), false-alarm rate (Fa), and intersection over union (IoU).

Learning From Correctness Without Prompting Makes LLM Efficient Reasoner

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated outstanding performance across various tasks, yet they still exhibit limitations such as hallucination, unfaithful reasoning, and toxic content. One potential approach to mitigate these issues is learning from human or external feedback (e.g. tools). In this paper, we introduce an intrinsic self-correct reasoning framework for LLMs that eliminates the need for human feedback, external tools, and handcraft prompts. The proposed framework, based on a multi-step reasoning paradigm \textbf{Le}arning from \textbf{Co}rrectness (\textsc{LeCo}), improves reasoning performance without needing to learn from errors. This paradigm prioritizes learning from correct reasoning steps, and a unique method to measure confidence for each reasoning step based on generation logits. Experimental results across various multi-step reasoning tasks demonstrate the effectiveness of the framework in improving reasoning performance with reduced token consumption.

NiteDR: Nighttime Image De-Raining with Cross-View Sensor Cooperative Learning for Dynamic Driving Scenes

In real-world environments, outdoor imaging systems are often affected by disturbances such as rain degradation. Especially, in nighttime driving scenes, insufficient and uneven lighting shrouds the scenes in darkness, resulting degradation of both the image quality and visibility. Particularly, in the field of autonomous driving, the visual perception ability of RGB sensors experiences a sharp decline in such harsh scenarios. Additionally, driving assistance systems suffer from reduced capabilities in capturing and discerning the surrounding environment, posing a threat to driving safety. Single-view information captured by single-modal sensors cannot comprehensively depict the entire scene. To address these challenges, we developed an image de-raining framework tailored for rainy nighttime driving scenes. It aims to remove rain artifacts, enrich scene representation, and restore useful information. Specifically, we introduce cooperative learning between visible and infrared images captured by different sensors. By cross-view fusion of these multi-source data, the scene within the images gains richer texture details and enhanced contrast. We constructed an information cleaning module called CleanNet as the first stage of our framework. Moreover, we designed an information fusion module called FusionNet as the second stage to fuse the clean visible images with infrared images. Using this stage-by-stage learning strategy, we obtain de-rained fusion images with higher quality and better visual perception. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed Cross-View Cooperative Learning (CVCL) in adverse driving scenarios in low-light rainy environments. The proposed approach addresses the gap in the utilization of existing rain removal algorithms in specific low-light conditions.

A Survey of Optimization Modeling Meets LLMs: Progress and Future Directions

By virtue of its great utility in solving real-world problems, optimization modeling has been widely employed for optimal decision-making across various sectors, but it requires substantial expertise from operations research professionals. With the advent of large language models (LLMs), new opportunities have emerged to automate the procedure of mathematical modeling. This survey presents a comprehensive and timely review of recent advancements that cover the entire technical stack, including data synthesis and fine-tuning for the base model, inference frameworks, benchmark datasets, and performance evaluation. In addition, we conducted an in-depth analysis on the quality of benchmark datasets, which was found to have a surprisingly high error rate. We cleaned the datasets and constructed a new leaderboard with fair performance evaluation in terms of base LLM model and datasets. We also build an online portal that integrates resources of cleaned datasets, code and paper repository to benefit the community. Finally, we identify limitations in current methodologies and outline future research opportunities.

Sens-Merging: Sensitivity-Guided Parameter Balancing for Merging Large Language Models

Recent advances in large language models have led to numerous task-specialized fine-tuned variants, creating a need for efficient model merging techniques that preserve specialized capabilities while avoiding costly retraining. While existing task vector-based merging methods show promise, they typically apply uniform coefficients across all parameters, overlooking varying parameter importance both within and across tasks. We present Sens-Merging, a sensitivity-guided coefficient adjustment method that enhances existing model merging techniques by operating at both task-specific and cross-task levels. Our method analyzes parameter sensitivity within individual tasks and evaluates cross-task transferability to determine optimal merging coefficients. Extensive experiments on Mistral 7B and LLaMA2-7B/13B models demonstrate that Sens-Merging significantly improves performance across general knowledge, mathematical reasoning, and code generation tasks. Notably, when combined with existing merging techniques, our method enables merged models to outperform specialized fine-tuned models, particularly in code generation tasks. Our findings reveal important trade-offs between task-specific and cross-task scalings, providing insights for future model merging strategies.
