\textit{Stochastic} MeanFlow Policies: One-Step Generative Control with Entropic Mirror DescentZeyuan Wang, Da Li, Yulin Chen et al.
Online off-policy reinforcement learning (RL) is shaped by two coupled choices: the policy class and the update rule. Gaussian policies are fast and have tractable entropy, but struggle with multimodal action distributions. Generative policies are more expressive, but often require iterative sampling or lack tractable entropy estimates. On the optimisation side, SAC-style soft policy improvement and mirror descent (MD) can be viewed as minimising different KL divergences: the former moves the policy towards a value-induced Boltzmann distribution, while the latter regularises each update against the previous policy. Combining entropy regularisation with an MD constraint is therefore attractive, as it supports exploration while stabilising policy improvement; however, the resulting target can be multimodal and is poorly matched by unimodal Gaussian policies. We propose Stochastic MeanFlow Policies (SMFP), a one-step generative policy class that maps Gaussian noise to actions through a MeanFlow transformation. This stochastic reparameterisation yields a tractable entropy surrogate and allows MeanFlow policies to be trained within off-policy mirror descent under a unified objective for exploratory yet stable improvement. Across seven MuJoCo benchmarks, SMFP improves over Gaussian and generative baselines while retaining single-step inference efficiency.

MGSR: 2D/3D Mutual-boosted Gaussian Splatting for High-fidelity Surface Reconstruction under Various Light ConditionsQingyuan Zhou, Yuehu Gong, Weidong Yang et al.
Novel view synthesis (NVS) and surface reconstruction (SR) are essential tasks in 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS). Despite recent progress, these tasks are often addressed independently, with GS-based rendering methods struggling under diverse light conditions and failing to produce accurate surfaces, while GS-based reconstruction methods frequently compromise rendering quality. This raises a central question: must rendering and reconstruction always involve a trade-off? To address this, we propose MGSR, a 2D/3D Mutual-boosted Gaussian splatting for Surface Reconstruction that enhances both rendering quality and 3D reconstruction accuracy. MGSR introduces two branches--one based on 2D-GS and the other on 3D-GS. The 2D-GS branch excels in surface reconstruction, providing precise geometry information to the 3D-GS branch. Leveraging this geometry, the 3D-GS branch employs a geometry-guided illumination decomposition module that captures reflected and transmitted components, enabling realistic rendering under varied light conditions. Using the transmitted component as supervision, the 2D-GS branch also achieves high-fidelity surface reconstruction. Throughout the optimization process, the 2D-GS and 3D-GS branches undergo alternating optimization, providing mutual supervision. Prior to this, each branch completes an independent warm-up phase, with an early stopping strategy implemented to reduce computational costs. We evaluate MGSR on a diverse set of synthetic and real-world datasets, at both object and scene levels, demonstrating strong performance in rendering and surface reconstruction. Proximal Policy Optimization in Path Space: A Schrödinger Bridge PerspectiveYuehu Gong, Zeyuan Wang, Yulin Chen et al.
On-policy reinforcement learning with generative policies is promising but remains underexplored. A central challenge is that proximal policy optimization (PPO) is traditionally formulated in terms of action-space probability ratios, whereas diffusion- and flow-based policies are more naturally represented as trajectory-level generative processes. In this work, we propose GSB-PPO, a path-space formulation of generative PPO inspired by the Generalized Schrödinger Bridge (GSB). Our framework lifts PPO-style proximal updates from terminal actions to full generation trajectories, yielding a unified view of on-policy optimization for generative policies. Within this framework, we develop two concrete objectives: a clipping-based objective, GSB-PPO-Clip, and a penalty-based objective, GSB-PPO-Penalty. Experimental results show that while both objectives are compatible with on-policy training, the penalty formulation consistently delivers better stability and performance than the clipping counterpart. Overall, our results highlight path-space proximal regularization as an effective principle for training generative policies with PPO.
