Kimi K2.5: Visual Agentic Intelligence

We introduce Kimi K2.5, an open-source multimodal agentic model designed to advance general agentic intelligence. K2.5 emphasizes the joint optimization of text and vision so that two modalities enhance each other. This includes a series of techniques such as joint text-vision pre-training, zero-vision SFT, and joint text-vision reinforcement learning. Building on this multimodal foundation, K2.5 introduces Agent Swarm, a self-directed parallel agent orchestration framework that dynamically decomposes complex tasks into heterogeneous sub-problems and executes them concurrently. Extensive evaluations show that Kimi K2.5 achieves state-of-the-art results across various domains including coding, vision, reasoning, and agentic tasks. Agent Swarm also reduces latency by up to $4.5\times$ over single-agent baselines. We release the post-trained Kimi K2.5 model checkpoint to facilitate future research and real-world applications of agentic intelligence.

Class Incremental Learning with Self-Supervised Pre-Training and Prototype Learning

Deep Neural Network (DNN) has achieved great success on datasets of closed class set. However, new classes, like new categories of social media topics, are continuously added to the real world, making it necessary to incrementally learn. This is hard for DNN because it tends to focus on fitting to new classes while ignoring old classes, a phenomenon known as catastrophic forgetting. State-of-the-art methods rely on knowledge distillation and data replay techniques but still have limitations. In this work, we analyze the causes of catastrophic forgetting in class incremental learning, which owes to three factors: representation drift, representation confusion, and classifier distortion. Based on this view, we propose a two-stage learning framework with a fixed encoder and an incrementally updated prototype classifier. The encoder is trained with self-supervised learning to generate a feature space with high intrinsic dimensionality, thus improving its transferability and generality. The classifier incrementally learns new prototypes while retaining the prototypes of previously learned data, which is crucial in preserving the decision boundary.Our method does not rely on preserved samples of old classes, is thus a non-exemplar based CIL method. Experiments on public datasets show that our method can significantly outperform state-of-the-art exemplar-based methods when they reserved 5 examplers per class, under the incremental setting of 10 phases, by 18.24% on CIFAR-100 and 9.37% on ImageNet100.

DiffSketcher: Text Guided Vector Sketch Synthesis through Latent Diffusion Models

Even though trained mainly on images, we discover that pretrained diffusion models show impressive power in guiding sketch synthesis. In this paper, we present DiffSketcher, an innovative algorithm that creates \textit{vectorized} free-hand sketches using natural language input. DiffSketcher is developed based on a pre-trained text-to-image diffusion model. It performs the task by directly optimizing a set of Bézier curves with an extended version of the score distillation sampling (SDS) loss, which allows us to use a raster-level diffusion model as a prior for optimizing a parametric vectorized sketch generator. Furthermore, we explore attention maps embedded in the diffusion model for effective stroke initialization to speed up the generation process. The generated sketches demonstrate multiple levels of abstraction while maintaining recognizability, underlying structure, and essential visual details of the subject drawn. SVGDreamer: Text Guided SVG Generation with Diffusion Model

Text-guided scalable vector graphics (SVG) synthesis has broad applications in icon and sketch generation. However, existing text-to-SVG methods often suffer from limited editability, suboptimal visual quality, and low sample diversity. To address these challenges, we propose \textbf{SVGDreamer}, a novel framework for text-guided vector graphics synthesis. Our method introduces a \textbf{semantic-driven image vectorization (SIVE)} process, which decomposes the generation procedure into foreground objects and background elements, thereby improving structural controllability and editability. In particular, SIVE incorporates attention-based primitive control and an attention-mask loss to facilitate fine-grained manipulation of individual vector elements. To further improve generation quality and diversity, we propose \textbf{Vectorized Particle-based Score Distillation (VPSD)}, which models SVGs as distributions over control points and colors. Compared with existing text-to-SVG optimization methods, VPSD alleviates over-smoothed shapes, over-saturated colors, limited diversity, and slow convergence. Moreover, VPSD leverages a reward model to reweight vector particles, leading to better visual aesthetics and faster convergence. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SVGDreamer consistently outperforms existing baselines in editability, visual quality, and diversity. Inversion-by-Inversion: Exemplar-based Sketch-to-Photo Synthesis via Stochastic Differential Equations without Training

Exemplar-based sketch-to-photo synthesis allows users to generate photo-realistic images based on sketches. Recently, diffusion-based methods have achieved impressive performance on image generation tasks, enabling highly-flexible control through text-driven generation or energy functions. However, generating photo-realistic images with color and texture from sketch images remains challenging for diffusion models. Sketches typically consist of only a few strokes, with most regions left blank, making it difficult for diffusion-based methods to produce photo-realistic images. In this work, we propose a two-stage method named ``Inversion-by-Inversion" for exemplar-based sketch-to-photo synthesis. This approach includes shape-enhancing inversion and full-control inversion. During the shape-enhancing inversion process, an uncolored photo is generated with the guidance of a shape-energy function. This step is essential to ensure control over the shape of the generated photo. In the full-control inversion process, we propose an appearance-energy function to control the color and texture of the final generated photo.Importantly, our Inversion-by-Inversion pipeline is training-free and can accept different types of exemplars for color and texture control. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate our proposed method, and the results demonstrate its effectiveness. DemoEvolve: Overcoming Sparse Feedback in Agentic Harness Evolution with Demonstrations

Agent harness evolution improves frozen language-model agents by modifying the executable structures around them. We study this paradigm as a form of sample-efficient fast adaptation: instead of updating model weights, an agent can acquire task-specific competence by changing its external harness, while leaving the base model's general capabilities intact. Prior work shows that self-generated rollouts can support harness search, suggesting that agents may acquire new task competence through practice. Yet in long-horizon stochastic environments, self-practice becomes fragile: rewards are sparse, outcomes are high-variance, and failures are hard to attribute to concrete harness mechanisms. We introduce DemoEvolve, a demonstration-bootstrapped approach to harness evolution. When reward-only search is too broad and noisy, competent human trajectories serve as expert reference experience for the coding proposer, guiding harness-level diagnosis and editing. Experiments on Liar's Dice show that self-rollout evolution can work when episodes are short and failures are attributable. In contrast, Balatro exposes a harder long-horizon stochastic regime, where self-rollout evolution is misled by sparse feedback and candidate-selection noise, while tutorial-like textual knowledge alone does not yield stable improvement. Under the same limited budget, DemoEvolve produces more effective and auditable harness edits and achieves better performance. Overall, demonstrations make sparse-feedback harness evolution more diagnosable, localizable, and stable.

TrackGo: A Flexible and Efficient Method for Controllable Video Generation

Recent years have seen substantial progress in diffusion-based controllable video generation. However, achieving precise control in complex scenarios, including fine-grained object parts, sophisticated motion trajectories, and coherent background movement, remains a challenge. In this paper, we introduce TrackGo, a novel approach that leverages free-form masks and arrows for conditional video generation. This method offers users with a flexible and precise mechanism for manipulating video content. We also propose the TrackAdapter for control implementation, an efficient and lightweight adapter designed to be seamlessly integrated into the temporal self-attention layers of a pretrained video generation model. This design leverages our observation that the attention map of these layers can accurately activate regions corresponding to motion in videos. Our experimental results demonstrate that our new approach, enhanced by the TrackAdapter, achieves state-of-the-art performance on key metrics such as FVD, FID, and ObjMC scores.

VAnim: Rendering-Aware Sparse State Modeling for Structure-Preserving Vector Animation

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) animation generation is pivotal for professional design due to their structural editability and resolution independence. However, this task remains challenging as it requires bridging discrete code representations with continuous visual dynamics. Existing optimization-based methods often destroy topological consistency, while general-purpose LLMs rely on rigid CSS/SMIL transformations, failing to model geometry-level non-rigid deformations. To address these limitations, we present VAnim, the first LLM-based framework for open-domain text-to-SVG animation. We reconceptualize animation not as sequence generation, but as Sparse State Updates (SSU) on a persistent SVG DOM tree. This paradigm compresses sequence length by over 9.8x while preserving the SVG DOM structure and non-participating elements by construction. To enable precise control, we propose an Identification-First Motion Planning mechanism that grounds textual instructions in explicit visual entities. Furthermore, to overcome the non-differentiable nature of SVG rendering, we employ Rendering-Aware Reinforcement Learning via Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO). By leveraging a hybrid reward from a state-of-the-art video perception encoder, we align discrete code updates with high-fidelity visual feedback. We also introduce SVGAnim-134k, the first benchmark for vector animation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VAnim significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in semantic alignment and structural validity, with additional appendix metrics further validating motion quality and identity preservation.

Molecular Identifier Visual Prompt and Verifiable Reinforcement Learning for Chemical Reaction Diagram Parsing

Reaction diagram parsing (RxnDP) is critical for extracting chemical synthesis information from literature. Although recent Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have emerged as a promising paradigm to automate this complex visual reasoning task, their application is fundamentally bottlenecked by the inability to align visual chemical entities with pre-trained knowledge, alongside the inherent discrepancy between token-level training and reaction-level evaluation. To address these dual challenges, this work enhances VLM-based RxnDP from two complementary perspectives: prompting representation and learning paradigms. First, we propose Identifier as Visual Prompting (IdtVP), which leverages naturally occurring molecule identifiers (e.g., bold numerals like 1a) to activate the chemical knowledge acquired during VLM pre-training. IdtVP enables powerful zero-shot and out-of-distribution capabilities, outperforming existing prompting strategies. Second, to further optimize performance within fine-tuning paradigms, we introduce Re3-DAPO, a reinforcement learning algorithm that leverages verifiable rewards to directly optimize reaction-level metrics, thereby achieving consistent gains over standard supervised fine-tuning. Additionally, we release the ScannedRxn benchmark, comprising scanned historical reaction diagrams with real-world artifacts, to rigorously assess model robustness and out-of-distribution ability. Our contributions advance the accuracy and generalization of VLM-based reaction diagram parsing. We will release data, models, and code on GitHub.

RxnCaption: Reformulating Reaction Diagram Parsing as Visual Prompt Guided Captioning

Large-scale chemical reaction datasets are crucial for AI research in chemistry. However, existing chemical reaction data often exist as images within papers, making them not machine-readable and unusable for training machine learning models. In response to this challenge, we propose the RxnCaption framework for the task of chemical Reaction Diagram Parsing (RxnDP). Our framework reformulates the traditional coordinate prediction driven parsing process into an image captioning problem, which Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) handle naturally. We introduce a strategy termed "BBox and Index as Visual Prompt" (BIVP), which uses our state-of-the-art molecular detector, MolYOLO, to pre-draw molecular bounding boxes and indices directly onto the input image. This turns the downstream parsing into a natural-language description problem. Extensive experiments show that the BIVP strategy significantly improves structural extraction quality while simplifying model design. We further construct the RxnCaption-11k dataset, an order of magnitude larger than prior real-world literature benchmarks, with a balanced test subset across four layout archetypes. Experiments demonstrate that RxnCaption-VL achieves state-of-the-art performance on multiple metrics. We believe our method, dataset, and models will advance structured information extraction from chemical literature and catalyze broader AI applications in chemistry. MANSION: Multi-floor lANguage-to-3D Scene generatIOn for loNg-horizon tasks

Real-world robotic tasks are long-horizon and often span multiple floors, demanding rich spatial reasoning. However, existing embodied benchmarks are largely confined to single-floor in-house environments, failing to reflect the complexity of real-world tasks. We introduce MANSION, the first language-driven framework for generating building-scale, multi-floor 3D environments. Being aware of vertical structural constraints, MANSION generates realistic, navigable whole-building structures with diverse, human-friendly scenes, enabling the development and evaluation of cross-floor long-horizon tasks. Building on this framework, we release MansionWorld, a dataset of over 1,000 diverse buildings ranging from hospitals to offices, alongside a Task-Semantic Scene Editing Agent that customizes these environments using open-vocabulary commands to meet specific user needs. Benchmarking reveals that state-of-the-art agents degrade sharply in our settings, establishing MANSION as a critical testbed for the next generation of spatial reasoning and planning.

Achieving binary weight and activation for LLMs using Post-Training Quantization

Quantizing large language models (LLMs) to 1-bit precision significantly reduces computational costs, but existing quantization techniques suffer from noticeable performance degradation when using weight and activation precisions below 4 bits (W4A4). In this paper, we propose a post-training quantization framework with W(1+1)A(1*4) configuration, where weights are quantized to 1 bit with an additional 1 bit for fine-grain grouping and activations are quantized to 1 bit with a 4-fold increase in the number of channels. For weight quantization, we propose utilizing Hessian-aware fine-grained grouping along with an EM-based quantization scheme. For activation quantization, we decompose INT4-quantized activations into a 4 * INT1 format equivalently and simultaneously smooth the scaling factors based on quantization errors, which further reduces the quantization errors in activations. Our method surpasses state-of-the-art (SOTA) LLM quantization baselines on W2A4 across multiple tasks, pushing the boundaries of existing LLM quantization methods toward fully binarized models. Latent Neural Operator for Solving Forward and Inverse PDE Problems

Neural operators effectively solve PDE problems from data without knowing the explicit equations, which learn the map from the input sequences of observed samples to the predicted values. Most existing works build the model in the original geometric space, leading to high computational costs when the number of sample points is large. We present the Latent Neural Operator (LNO) solving PDEs in the latent space. In particular, we first propose Physics-Cross-Attention (PhCA) transforming representation from the geometric space to the latent space, then learn the operator in the latent space, and finally recover the real-world geometric space via the inverse PhCA map. Our model retains flexibility that can decode values in any position not limited to locations defined in the training set, and therefore can naturally perform interpolation and extrapolation tasks particularly useful for inverse problems. Moreover, the proposed LNO improves both prediction accuracy and computational efficiency. Experiments show that LNO reduces the GPU memory by 50%, speeds up training 1.8 times, and reaches state-of-the-art accuracy on four out of six benchmarks for forward problems and a benchmark for inverse problem. SVGDreamer: Text Guided SVG Generation with Diffusion Model

Recently, text-guided scalable vector graphics (SVGs) synthesis has shown promise in domains such as iconography and sketch. However, existing text-to-SVG generation methods lack editability and struggle with visual quality and result diversity. To address these limitations, we propose a novel text-guided vector graphics synthesis method called SVGDreamer. SVGDreamer incorporates a semantic-driven image vectorization (SIVE) process that enables the decomposition of synthesis into foreground objects and background, thereby enhancing editability. Ensemble Quadratic Assignment Network for Graph Matching

Graph matching is a commonly used technique in computer vision and pattern recognition. Recent data-driven approaches have improved the graph matching accuracy remarkably, whereas some traditional algorithm-based methods are more robust to feature noises, outlier nodes, and global transformation (e.g.~rotation). In this paper, we propose a graph neural network (GNN) based approach to combine the advantages of data-driven and traditional methods. In the GNN framework, we transform traditional graph-matching solvers as single-channel GNNs on the association graph and extend the single-channel architecture to the multi-channel network. The proposed model can be seen as an ensemble method that fuses multiple algorithms at every iteration. Instead of averaging the estimates at the end of the ensemble, in our approach, the independent iterations of the ensembled algorithms exchange their information after each iteration via a 1x1 channel-wise convolution layer. Experiments show that our model improves the performance of traditional algorithms significantly. In addition, we propose a random sampling strategy to reduce the computational complexity and GPU memory usage, so the model applies to matching graphs with thousands of nodes. We evaluate the performance of our method on three tasks: geometric graph matching, semantic feature matching, and few-shot 3D shape classification. The proposed model performs comparably or outperforms the best existing GNN-based methods.

LBLLM: Lightweight Binarization of Large Language Models via Three-Stage Distillation

Deploying large language models (LLMs) in resource-constrained environments is hindered by heavy computational and memory requirements. We present LBLLM, a lightweight binarization framework that achieves effective W(1+1)A4 quantization through a novel three-stage quantization strategy. The framework proceeds as follows: (1) initialize a high-quality quantized model via PTQ; (2) quantize binarized weights, group-wise bitmaps, and quantization parameters through layer-wise distillation while keeping activations in full precision; and (3) training learnable activation quantization factors to dynamically quantize activations to 4 bits. This decoupled design mitigates interference between weight and activation quantization, yielding greater training stability and better inference accuracy. LBLLM, trained only using 0.016B tokens with a single GPU, surpasses existing state-of-the-art binarization methods on W2A4 quantization settings across tasks of language modeling, commonsense QA, and language understanding. These results demonstrate that extreme low-bit quantization of LLMs can be both practical and highly effective without introducing any extra high-precision channels or rotational matrices commonly used in recent PTQ-based works, offering a promising path toward efficient LLM deployment in resource-limited situations.

Latent Neural Operator Pretraining for Solving Time-Dependent PDEs

Pretraining methods gain increasing attraction recently for solving PDEs with neural operators. It alleviates the data scarcity problem encountered by neural operator learning when solving single PDE via training on large-scale datasets consisting of various PDEs and utilizing shared patterns among different PDEs to improve the solution precision. In this work, we propose the Latent Neural Operator Pretraining (LNOP) framework based on the Latent Neural Operator (LNO) backbone. We achieve universal transformation through pretraining on hybrid time-dependent PDE dataset to extract representations of different physical systems and solve various time-dependent PDEs in the latent space through finetuning on single PDE dataset. Our proposed LNOP framework reduces the solution error by 31.7% on four problems and can be further improved to 57.1% after finetuning. On out-of-distribution dataset, our LNOP model achieves roughly 50% lower error and 3$\times$ data efficiency on average across different dataset sizes. These results show that our method is more competitive in terms of solution precision, transfer capability and data efficiency compared to non-pretrained neural operators.

CACA Agent: Capability Collaboration based AI Agent

As AI Agents based on Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown potential in practical applications across various fields, how to quickly deploy an AI agent and how to conveniently expand the application scenario of AI agents has become a challenge. Previous studies mainly focused on implementing all the reasoning capabilities of AI agents within a single LLM, which often makes the model more complex and also reduces the extensibility of AI agent functionality. In this paper, we propose CACA Agent (Capability Collaboration based AI Agent), using an open architecture inspired by service computing. CACA Agent integrates a set of collaborative capabilities to implement AI Agents, not only reducing the dependence on a single LLM, but also enhancing the extensibility of both the planning abilities and the tools available to AI agents. Utilizing the proposed system, we present a demo to illustrate the operation and the application scenario extension of CACA Agent.

Faster Projected GAN: Towards Faster Few-Shot Image Generation

In order to solve the problems of long training time, large consumption of computing resources and huge parameter amount of GAN network in image generation, this paper proposes an improved GAN network model, which is named Faster Projected GAN, based on Projected GAN. The proposed network is mainly focuses on the improvement of generator of Projected GAN. By introducing depth separable convolution (DSC), the number of parameters of the Projected GAN is reduced, the training speed is accelerated, and memory is saved. Experimental results show that on ffhq-1k, art-painting, Landscape and other few-shot image datasets, a 20% speed increase and a 15% memory saving are achieved. At the same time, FID loss is less or no loss, and the amount of model parameters is better controlled. At the same time, significant training speed improvement has been achieved in the small sample image generation task of special scenes such as earthquake scenes with few public datasets.

WholeBodyVLA: Towards Unified Latent VLA for Whole-Body Loco-Manipulation Control

Humanoid robots require precise locomotion and dexterous manipulation to perform challenging loco-manipulation tasks. Yet existing approaches, modular or end-to-end, are deficient in manipulation-aware locomotion. This confines the robot to a limited workspace, preventing it from performing large-space loco-manipulation. We attribute this to: (1) the challenge of acquiring loco-manipulation knowledge due to the scarcity of humanoid teleoperation data, and (2) the difficulty of faithfully and reliably executing locomotion commands, stemming from the limited precision and stability of existing RL controllers. To acquire richer loco-manipulation knowledge, we propose a unified latent learning framework that enables Vision-Language-Action (VLA) system to learn from low-cost action-free egocentric videos. Moreover, an efficient human data collection pipeline is devised to augment the dataset and scale the benefits. To execute the desired locomotion commands more precisely, we present a loco-manipulation-oriented (LMO) RL policy specifically tailored for accurate and stable core loco-manipulation movements, such as advancing, turning, and squatting. Building on these components, we introduce WholeBodyVLA, a unified framework for humanoid loco-manipulation. To the best of our knowledge, WholeBodyVLA is one of its kind enabling large-space humanoid loco-manipulation. It is verified via comprehensive experiments on the AgiBot X2 humanoid, outperforming prior baseline by 21.3%. It also demonstrates strong generalization and high extensibility across a broad range of tasks.

MNO: Multiscale Neural Operator for Computational Fluid Dynamics with 3D Point Cloud Data

Neural operators have emerged as a powerful data-driven paradigm for solving Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), offering orders-of-magnitude acceleration over traditional solvers. However, existing approaches still suffer from limited accuracy and scalability, particularly on irregular domains where fluid flows exhibit rich multiscale structures. In this work, we introduce the Multiscale Neural Operator (MNO), a new architecture for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) on three-dimensional (3D) unstructured point clouds. MNO explicitly decomposes information across three scales: a global dimension-shrinkage attention module for long-range dependencies, a local graph attention module for neighborhood-level interactions, and a micro point-wise attention module for fine-grained details. This design preserves multiscale inductive biases while remaining computationally efficient. We evaluate MNO on four diverse benchmarks, covering both steady-state and unsteady flow scenarios with up to 300K points. Across all tasks, MNO consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines, reducing prediction errors by 5% to 40% and demonstrating improved robustness in challenging 3D CFD problems. Our results highlight the importance of explicit multiscale design for neural operators and establish MNO as a scalable framework for learning complex fluid dynamics on irregular domains.

ViewCraft3D: High-Fidelity and View-Consistent 3D Vector Graphics Synthesis

3D vector graphics play a crucial role in various applications including 3D shape retrieval, conceptual design, and virtual reality interactions due to their ability to capture essential structural information with minimal representation. While recent approaches have shown promise in generating 3D vector graphics, they often suffer from lengthy processing times and struggle to maintain view consistency. To address these limitations, we propose ViewCraft3D (VC3D), an efficient method that leverages 3D priors to generate 3D vector graphics. Specifically, our approach begins with 3D object analysis, employs a geometric extraction algorithm to fit 3D vector graphics to the underlying structure, and applies view-consistent refinement process to enhance visual quality. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that VC3D outperforms previous methods in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations, while significantly reducing computational overhead. The resulting 3D sketches maintain view consistency and effectively capture the essential characteristics of the original objects.

SVGDreamer++: Advancing Editability and Diversity in Text-Guided SVG Generation

Recently, text-guided scalable vector graphics (SVG) synthesis has demonstrated significant potential in domains such as iconography and sketching. However, SVGs generated from existing Text-to-SVG methods often lack editability and exhibit deficiencies in visual quality and diversity. In this paper, we propose a novel text-guided vector graphics synthesis method to address these limitations. To enhance the editability of output SVGs, we introduce a Hierarchical Image VEctorization (HIVE) framework that operates at the semantic object level and supervises the optimization of components within the vector object. This approach facilitates the decoupling of vector graphics into distinct objects and component levels. Our proposed HIVE algorithm, informed by image segmentation priors, not only ensures a more precise representation of vector graphics but also enables fine-grained editing capabilities within vector objects. To improve the diversity of output SVGs, we present a Vectorized Particle-based Score Distillation (VPSD) approach. VPSD addresses over-saturation issues in existing methods and enhances sample diversity. A pre-trained reward model is incorporated to re-weight vector particles, improving aesthetic appeal and enabling faster convergence. Additionally, we design a novel adaptive vector primitives control strategy, which allows for the dynamic adjustment of the number of primitives, thereby enhancing the presentation of graphic details. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, demonstrating its superiority over baseline methods in terms of editability, visual quality, and diversity. We also show that our new method supports up to six distinct vector styles, capable of generating high-quality vector assets suitable for stylized vector design and poster design. Training Dynamics of Nonlinear Contrastive Learning Model in the High Dimensional Limit

This letter presents a high-dimensional analysis of the training dynamics for a single-layer nonlinear contrastive learning model. The empirical distribution of the model weights converges to a deterministic measure governed by a McKean-Vlasov nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE). Under L2 regularization, this PDE reduces to a closed set of low-dimensional ordinary differential equations (ODEs), reflecting the evolution of the model performance during the training process. We analyze the fixed point locations and their stability of the ODEs unveiling several interesting findings. First, only the hidden variable's second moment affects feature learnability at the state with uninformative initialization. Second, higher moments influence the probability of feature selection by controlling the attraction region, rather than affecting local stability. Finally, independent noises added in the data argumentation degrade performance but negatively correlated noise can reduces the variance of gradient estimation yielding better performance. Despite of the simplicity of the analyzed model, it exhibits a rich phenomena of training dynamics, paving a way to understand more complex mechanism behind practical large models.

Restrained Generative Adversarial Network against Overfitting in Numeric Data Augmentation

In recent studies, Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) is one of the popular schemes to augment the image dataset. However, in our study we find the generator G in the GAN fails to generate numerical data in lower-dimensional spaces, and we address overfitting in the generation. By analyzing the Directed Graphical Model (DGM), we propose a theoretical restraint, independence on the loss function, to suppress the overfitting. Practically, as the Statically Restrained GAN (SRGAN) and Dynamically Restrained GAN (DRGAN), two frameworks are proposed to employ the theoretical restraint to the network structure. In the static structure, we predefined a pair of particular network topologies of G and D as the restraint, and quantify such restraint by the interpretable metric Similarity of the Restraint (SR). While for DRGAN we design an adjustable dropout module for the restraint function. In the widely carried out 20 group experiments, on four public numerical class imbalance datasets and five classifiers, the static and dynamic methods together produce the best augmentation results of 19 from 20; and both two methods simultaneously generate 14 of 20 groups of the top-2 best, proving the effectiveness and feasibility of the theoretical restraints.

FISHING Net: Future Inference of Semantic Heatmaps In Grids

For autonomous robots to navigate a complex environment, it is crucial to understand the surrounding scene both geometrically and semantically. Modern autonomous robots employ multiple sets of sensors, including lidars, radars, and cameras. Managing the different reference frames and characteristics of the sensors, and merging their observations into a single representation complicates perception. Choosing a single unified representation for all sensors simplifies the task of perception and fusion. In this work, we present an end-to-end pipeline that performs semantic segmentation and short term prediction using a top-down representation. Our approach consists of an ensemble of neural networks which take in sensor data from different sensor modalities and transform them into a single common top-down semantic grid representation. We find this representation favorable as it is agnostic to sensor-specific reference frames and captures both the semantic and geometric information for the surrounding scene. Because the modalities share a single output representation, they can be easily aggregated to produce a fused output. In this work we predict short-term semantic grids but the framework can be extended to other tasks. This approach offers a simple, extensible, end-to-end approach for multi-modal perception and prediction.

Lossless Attention in Convolutional Networks for Facial Expression Recognition in the Wild

Unlike the constraint frontal face condition, faces in the wild have various unconstrained interference factors, such as complex illumination, changing perspective and various occlusions. Facial expressions recognition (FER) in the wild is a challenging task and existing methods can't perform well. However, for occluded faces (containing occlusion caused by other objects and self-occlusion caused by head posture changes), the attention mechanism has the ability to focus on the non-occluded regions automatically. In this paper, we propose a Lossless Attention Model (LLAM) for convolutional neural networks (CNN) to extract attention-aware features from faces. Our module avoids decay information in the process of generating attention maps by using the information of the previous layer and not reducing the dimensionality. Sequentially, we adaptively refine the feature responses by fusing the attention map with the feature map. We participate in the seven basic expression classification sub-challenges of FG-2020 Affective Behavior Analysis in-the-wild Challenge. And we validate our method on the Aff-Wild2 datasets released by the Challenge. The total accuracy (Accuracy) and the unweighted mean (F1) of our method on the validation set are 0.49 and 0.38 respectively, and the final result is 0.42 (0.67 F1-Score + 0.33 Accuracy).

Study of Constrained Network Structures for WGANs on Numeric Data Generation

Some recent studies have suggested using GANs for numeric data generation such as to generate data for completing the imbalanced numeric data. Considering the significant difference between the dimensions of the numeric data and images, as well as the strong correlations between features of numeric data, the conventional GANs normally face an overfitting problem, consequently leads to an ill-conditioning problem in generating numeric and structured data. This paper studies the constrained network structures between generator G and discriminator D in WGAN, designs several structures including isomorphic, mirror and self-symmetric structures. We evaluates the performances of the constrained WGANs in data augmentations, taking the non-constrained GANs and WGANs as the baselines. Experiments prove the constrained structures have been improved in 17/20 groups of experiments. In twenty experiments on four UCI Machine Learning Repository datasets, Australian Credit Approval data, German Credit data, Pima Indians Diabetes data and SPECT heart data facing five conventional classifiers. Especially, Isomorphic WGAN is the best in 15/20 experiments. Finally, we theoretically proves that the effectiveness of constrained structures by the directed graphic model (DGM) analysis.

An experiment in distributed Internet address management using blockchains

The current system to manage the global pool of IP addresses is centralized in five transnational organizations, the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). Each of these RIRs manage the address pool for a large number of countries. Because the RIRs are private organizations, they are subject to the legal framework of the country where they are based. This configuration results in a jurisdictional overflow from the legal framework of the countries where the RIR is based to all the countries that the RIRs are serving (the countries served by the RIRs de facto become subjects of the legal system of the country where the RIR is hosted). The situation is aggravated by the deployment of new security techniques such as the RPKI and BGPsec, that enable enforcement of allocations by the RIRs. In this paper we present InBlock, a blockchain-based distributed governance body aimed to provide de-centralized management of IP addresses. InBlock also aims to fulfil the same objectives as the current IP address allocation system, namely, uniqueness, fairness, conservation, aggregation, registration and minimized overhead. InBlock is implemented as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization, i.e., as a set of blockchain's smart contracts in Ethereum. Any entity may request an allocation of addresses to the InBlock registry by solely performing a (crypto)currency transfer to the InBlock. The fee required, along with the annual renewal fee, serves as a mechanism to deter stockpiling and other wasteful practices. As with any novel technology, there are many open questions about the usage of blockchains to build an IP address registry. For this reason, we believe that practical experimentation is required in order to have hands-on experiences about such a system. We propose to conduct an experiment on distributed address management using InBlock as a starting point to inform future directions in this area.

A Solvable High-Dimensional Model of GAN

We present a theoretical analysis of the training process for a single-layer GAN fed by high-dimensional input data. The training dynamics of the proposed model at both microscopic and macroscopic scales can be exactly analyzed in the high-dimensional limit. In particular, we prove that the macroscopic quantities measuring the quality of the training process converge to a deterministic process characterized by an ordinary differential equation (ODE), whereas the microscopic states containing all the detailed weights remain stochastic, whose dynamics can be described by a stochastic differential equation (SDE). This analysis provides a new perspective different from recent analyses in the limit of small learning rate, where the microscopic state is always considered deterministic, and the contribution of noise is ignored. From our analysis, we show that the level of the background noise is essential to the convergence of the training process: setting the noise level too strong leads to failure of feature recovery, whereas setting the noise too weak causes oscillation. Although this work focuses on a simple copy model of GAN, we believe the analysis methods and insights developed here would prove useful in the theoretical understanding of other variants of GANs with more advanced training algorithms.

Subspace Estimation from Incomplete Observations: A High-Dimensional Analysis

We present a high-dimensional analysis of three popular algorithms, namely, Oja's method, GROUSE and PETRELS, for subspace estimation from streaming and highly incomplete observations. We show that, with proper time scaling, the time-varying principal angles between the true subspace and its estimates given by the algorithms converge weakly to deterministic processes when the ambient dimension $n$ tends to infinity. Moreover, the limiting processes can be exactly characterized as the unique solutions of certain ordinary differential equations (ODEs). A finite sample bound is also given, showing that the rate of convergence towards such limits is $\mathcal{O}(1/\sqrt{n})$. In addition to providing asymptotically exact predictions of the dynamic performance of the algorithms, our high-dimensional analysis yields several insights, including an asymptotic equivalence between Oja's method and GROUSE, and a precise scaling relationship linking the amount of missing data to the signal-to-noise ratio. By analyzing the solutions of the limiting ODEs, we also establish phase transition phenomena associated with the steady-state performance of these techniques.

Scaling Limit: Exact and Tractable Analysis of Online Learning Algorithms with Applications to Regularized Regression and PCA

We present a framework for analyzing the exact dynamics of a class of online learning algorithms in the high-dimensional scaling limit. Our results are applied to two concrete examples: online regularized linear regression and principal component analysis. As the ambient dimension tends to infinity, and with proper time scaling, we show that the time-varying joint empirical measures of the target feature vector and its estimates provided by the algorithms will converge weakly to a deterministic measured-valued process that can be characterized as the unique solution of a nonlinear PDE. Numerical solutions of this PDE can be efficiently obtained. These solutions lead to precise predictions of the performance of the algorithms, as many practical performance metrics are linear functionals of the joint empirical measures. In addition to characterizing the dynamic performance of online learning algorithms, our asymptotic analysis also provides useful insights. In particular, in the high-dimensional limit, and due to exchangeability, the original coupled dynamics associated with the algorithms will be asymptotically "decoupled", with each coordinate independently solving a 1-D effective minimization problem via stochastic gradient descent. Exploiting this insight for nonconvex optimization problems may prove an interesting line of future research.

The Scaling Limit of High-Dimensional Online Independent Component Analysis

We analyze the dynamics of an online algorithm for independent component analysis in the high-dimensional scaling limit. As the ambient dimension tends to infinity, and with proper time scaling, we show that the time-varying joint empirical measure of the target feature vector and the estimates provided by the algorithm will converge weakly to a deterministic measured-valued process that can be characterized as the unique solution of a nonlinear PDE. Numerical solutions of this PDE, which involves two spatial variables and one time variable, can be efficiently obtained. These solutions provide detailed information about the performance of the ICA algorithm, as many practical performance metrics are functionals of the joint empirical measures. Numerical simulations show that our asymptotic analysis is accurate even for moderate dimensions. In addition to providing a tool for understanding the performance of the algorithm, our PDE analysis also provides useful insight. In particular, in the high-dimensional limit, the original coupled dynamics associated with the algorithm will be asymptotically "decoupled", with each coordinate independently solving a 1-D effective minimization problem via stochastic gradient descent. Exploiting this insight to design new algorithms for achieving optimal trade-offs between computational and statistical efficiency may prove an interesting line of future research.
