Slow Motion Matters: A Slow Motion Enhanced Network for Weakly Supervised Temporal Action LocalizationWeiqi Sun, Rui Su, Qian Yu et al. · amazon-science, princeton
Weakly supervised temporal action localization (WTAL) aims to localize actions in untrimmed videos with only weak supervision information (e.g. video-level labels). Most existing models handle all input videos with a fixed temporal scale. However, such models are not sensitive to actions whose pace of the movements is different from the ``normal" speed, especially slow-motion action instances, which complete the movements with a much slower speed than their counterparts with a normal speed. Here arises the slow-motion blurred issue: It is hard to explore salient slow-motion information from videos at ``normal" speed. In this paper, we propose a novel framework termed Slow Motion Enhanced Network (SMEN) to improve the ability of a WTAL network by compensating its sensitivity on slow-motion action segments. The proposed SMEN comprises a Mining module and a Localization module. The mining module generates mask to mine slow-motion-related features by utilizing the relationships between the normal motion and slow motion; while the localization module leverages the mined slow-motion features as complementary information to improve the temporal action localization results. Our proposed framework can be easily adapted by existing WTAL networks and enable them be more sensitive to slow-motion actions. Extensive experiments on three benchmarks are conducted, which demonstrate the high performance of our proposed framework.

LiDAR-Camera Panoptic Segmentation via Geometry-Consistent and Semantic-Aware AlignmentZhiwei Zhang, Zhizhong Zhang, Qian Yu et al.
3D panoptic segmentation is a challenging perception task that requires both semantic segmentation and instance segmentation. In this task, we notice that images could provide rich texture, color, and discriminative information, which can complement LiDAR data for evident performance improvement, but their fusion remains a challenging problem. To this end, we propose LCPS, the first LiDAR-Camera Panoptic Segmentation network. In our approach, we conduct LiDAR-Camera fusion in three stages: 1) an Asynchronous Compensation Pixel Alignment (ACPA) module that calibrates the coordinate misalignment caused by asynchronous problems between sensors; 2) a Semantic-Aware Region Alignment (SARA) module that extends the one-to-one point-pixel mapping to one-to-many semantic relations; 3) a Point-to-Voxel feature Propagation (PVP) module that integrates both geometric and semantic fusion information for the entire point cloud. Our fusion strategy improves about 6.9% PQ performance over the LiDAR-only baseline on NuScenes dataset. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments further demonstrate the effectiveness of our novel framework. The code will be released at https://github.com/zhangzw12319/lcps.git.

The Devil is in the Statistics: Mitigating and Exploiting Statistics Difference for Generalizable Semi-supervised Medical Image SegmentationMuyang Qiu, Jian Zhang, Lei Qi et al.
Despite the recent success of domain generalization in medical image segmentation, voxel-wise annotation for all source domains remains a huge burden. Semi-supervised domain generalization has been proposed very recently to combat this challenge by leveraging limited labeled data along with abundant unlabeled data collected from multiple medical institutions, depending on precisely harnessing unlabeled data while improving generalization simultaneously. In this work, we observe that domain shifts between medical institutions cause disparate feature statistics, which significantly deteriorates pseudo-label quality due to an unexpected normalization process. Nevertheless, this phenomenon could be exploited to facilitate unseen domain generalization. Therefore, we propose 1) multiple statistics-individual branches to mitigate the impact of domain shifts for reliable pseudo-labels and 2) one statistics-aggregated branch for domain-invariant feature learning. Furthermore, to simulate unseen domains with statistics difference, we approach this from two aspects, i.e., a perturbation with histogram matching at image level and a random batch normalization selection strategy at feature level, producing diverse statistics to expand the training distribution. IAM: A Comprehensive and Large-Scale Dataset for Integrated Argument Mining TasksLiying Cheng, Lidong Bing, Ruidan He et al.
Traditionally, a debate usually requires a manual preparation process, including reading plenty of articles, selecting the claims, identifying the stances of the claims, seeking the evidence for the claims, etc. As the AI debate attracts more attention these years, it is worth exploring the methods to automate the tedious process involved in the debating system. In this work, we introduce a comprehensive and large dataset named IAM, which can be applied to a series of argument mining tasks, including claim extraction, stance classification, evidence extraction, etc. Our dataset is collected from over 1k articles related to 123 topics. Near 70k sentences in the dataset are fully annotated based on their argument properties (e.g., claims, stances, evidence, etc.). We further propose two new integrated argument mining tasks associated with the debate preparation process: (1) claim extraction with stance classification (CESC) and (2) claim-evidence pair extraction (CEPE). We adopt a pipeline approach and an end-to-end method for each integrated task separately. Promising experimental results are reported to show the values and challenges of our proposed tasks, and motivate future research on argument mining.

Diffusion Model is Secretly a Training-free Open Vocabulary Semantic SegmenterJinglong Wang, Xiawei Li, Jing Zhang et al.
The pre-trained text-image discriminative models, such as CLIP, has been explored for open-vocabulary semantic segmentation with unsatisfactory results due to the loss of crucial localization information and awareness of object shapes. Recently, there has been a growing interest in expanding the application of generative models from generation tasks to semantic segmentation. These approaches utilize generative models either for generating annotated data or extracting features to facilitate semantic segmentation. This typically involves generating a considerable amount of synthetic data or requiring additional mask annotations. To this end, we uncover the potential of generative text-to-image diffusion models (e.g., Stable Diffusion) as highly efficient open-vocabulary semantic segmenters, and introduce a novel training-free approach named DiffSegmenter. The insight is that to generate realistic objects that are semantically faithful to the input text, both the complete object shapes and the corresponding semantics are implicitly learned by diffusion models. We discover that the object shapes are characterized by the self-attention maps while the semantics are indicated through the cross-attention maps produced by the denoising U-Net, forming the basis of our segmentation results.Additionally, we carefully design effective textual prompts and a category filtering mechanism to further enhance the segmentation results. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets show that the proposed DiffSegmenter achieves impressive results for open-vocabulary semantic segmentation.

DiffSketcher: Text Guided Vector Sketch Synthesis through Latent Diffusion ModelsXiming Xing, Chuang Wang, Haitao Zhou et al.
Even though trained mainly on images, we discover that pretrained diffusion models show impressive power in guiding sketch synthesis. In this paper, we present DiffSketcher, an innovative algorithm that creates \textit{vectorized} free-hand sketches using natural language input. DiffSketcher is developed based on a pre-trained text-to-image diffusion model. It performs the task by directly optimizing a set of Bézier curves with an extended version of the score distillation sampling (SDS) loss, which allows us to use a raster-level diffusion model as a prior for optimizing a parametric vectorized sketch generator. Furthermore, we explore attention maps embedded in the diffusion model for effective stroke initialization to speed up the generation process. The generated sketches demonstrate multiple levels of abstraction while maintaining recognizability, underlying structure, and essential visual details of the subject drawn. Decoder-Only or Encoder-Decoder? Interpreting Language Model as a Regularized Encoder-DecoderZihao Fu, Wai Lam, Qian Yu et al.
The sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) task aims at generating the target sequence based on the given input source sequence. Traditionally, most of the seq2seq task is resolved by the Encoder-Decoder framework which requires an encoder to encode the source sequence and a decoder to generate the target text. Recently, a bunch of new approaches have emerged that apply decoder-only language models directly to the seq2seq task. Despite the significant advancements in applying language models to the seq2seq task, there is still a lack of thorough analysis on the effectiveness of the decoder-only language model architecture. This paper aims to address this gap by conducting a detailed comparison between the encoder-decoder architecture and the decoder-only language model framework through the analysis of a regularized encoder-decoder structure. This structure is designed to replicate all behaviors in the classical decoder-only language model but has an encoder and a decoder making it easier to be compared with the classical encoder-decoder structure. Based on the analysis, we unveil the attention degeneration problem in the language model, namely, as the generation step number grows, less and less attention is focused on the source sequence. To give a quantitative understanding of this problem, we conduct a theoretical sensitivity analysis of the attention output with respect to the source input. Grounded on our analysis, we propose a novel partial attention language model to solve the attention degeneration problem. Experimental results on machine translation, summarization, and data-to-text generation tasks support our analysis and demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model.

SketchSampler: Sketch-based 3D Reconstruction via View-dependent Depth SamplingChenjian Gao, Qian Yu, Lu Sheng et al.
Reconstructing a 3D shape based on a single sketch image is challenging due to the large domain gap between a sparse, irregular sketch and a regular, dense 3D shape. Existing works try to employ the global feature extracted from sketch to directly predict the 3D coordinates, but they usually suffer from losing fine details that are not faithful to the input sketch. Through analyzing the 3D-to-2D projection process, we notice that the density map that characterizes the distribution of 2D point clouds (i.e., the probability of points projected at each location of the projection plane) can be used as a proxy to facilitate the reconstruction process. To this end, we first translate a sketch via an image translation network to a more informative 2D representation that can be used to generate a density map. Next, a 3D point cloud is reconstructed via a two-stage probabilistic sampling process: first recovering the 2D points (i.e., the x and y coordinates) by sampling the density map; and then predicting the depth (i.e., the z coordinate) by sampling the depth values at the ray determined by each 2D point. Extensive experiments are conducted, and both quantitative and qualitative results show that our proposed approach significantly outperforms other baseline methods.

HiNet: Novel Multi-Scenario & Multi-Task Learning with Hierarchical Information ExtractionJie Zhou, Xianshuai Cao, Wenhao Li et al.
Multi-scenario & multi-task learning has been widely applied to many recommendation systems in industrial applications, wherein an effective and practical approach is to carry out multi-scenario transfer learning on the basis of the Mixture-of-Expert (MoE) architecture. However, the MoE-based method, which aims to project all information in the same feature space, cannot effectively deal with the complex relationships inherent among various scenarios and tasks, resulting in unsatisfactory performance. To tackle the problem, we propose a Hierarchical information extraction Network (HiNet) for multi-scenario and multi-task recommendation, which achieves hierarchical extraction based on coarse-to-fine knowledge transfer scheme. The multiple extraction layers of the hierarchical network enable the model to enhance the capability of transferring valuable information across scenarios while preserving specific features of scenarios and tasks. Furthermore, a novel scenario-aware attentive network module is proposed to model correlations between scenarios explicitly. Comprehensive experiments conducted on real-world industrial datasets from Meituan Meishi platform demonstrate that HiNet achieves a new state-of-the-art performance and significantly outperforms existing solutions. HiNet is currently fully deployed in two scenarios and has achieved 2.87% and 1.75% order quantity gain respectively.

Orthogonal Annotation Benefits Barely-supervised Medical Image SegmentationHeng Cai, Shumeng Li, Lei Qi et al.
Recent trends in semi-supervised learning have significantly boosted the performance of 3D semi-supervised medical image segmentation. Compared with 2D images, 3D medical volumes involve information from different directions, e.g., transverse, sagittal, and coronal planes, so as to naturally provide complementary views. These complementary views and the intrinsic similarity among adjacent 3D slices inspire us to develop a novel annotation way and its corresponding semi-supervised model for effective segmentation. Specifically, we firstly propose the orthogonal annotation by only labeling two orthogonal slices in a labeled volume, which significantly relieves the burden of annotation. Then, we perform registration to obtain the initial pseudo labels for sparsely labeled volumes. Subsequently, by introducing unlabeled volumes, we propose a dual-network paradigm named Dense-Sparse Co-training (DeSCO) that exploits dense pseudo labels in early stage and sparse labels in later stage and meanwhile forces consistent output of two networks. Experimental results on three benchmark datasets validated our effectiveness in performance and efficiency in annotation. For example, with only 10 annotated slices, our method reaches a Dice up to 86.93% on KiTS19 dataset.

A Simple Test-Time Method for Out-of-Distribution DetectionKe Fan, Yikai Wang, Qian Yu et al.
Neural networks are known to produce over-confident predictions on input images, even when these images are out-of-distribution (OOD) samples. This limits the applications of neural network models in real-world scenarios, where OOD samples exist. Many existing approaches identify the OOD instances via exploiting various cues, such as finding irregular patterns in the feature space, logits space, gradient space or the raw space of images. In contrast, this paper proposes a simple Test-time Linear Training (ETLT) method for OOD detection. Empirically, we find that the probabilities of input images being out-of-distribution are surprisingly linearly correlated to the features extracted by neural networks. To be specific, many state-of-the-art OOD algorithms, although designed to measure reliability in different ways, actually lead to OOD scores mostly linearly related to their image features. Thus, by simply learning a linear regression model trained from the paired image features and inferred OOD scores at test-time, we can make a more precise OOD prediction for the test instances. We further propose an online variant of the proposed method, which achieves promising performance and is more practical in real-world applications. Remarkably, we improve FPR95 from $51.37\%$ to $12.30\%$ on CIFAR-10 datasets with maximum softmax probability as the base OOD detector. Extensive experiments on several benchmark datasets show the efficacy of ETLT for OOD detection task.

Product Question Answering in E-Commerce: A SurveyYang Deng, Wenxuan Zhang, Qian Yu et al.
Product question answering (PQA), aiming to automatically provide instant responses to customer's questions in E-Commerce platforms, has drawn increasing attention in recent years. Compared with typical QA problems, PQA exhibits unique challenges such as the subjectivity and reliability of user-generated contents in E-commerce platforms. Therefore, various problem settings and novel methods have been proposed to capture these special characteristics. In this paper, we aim to systematically review existing research efforts on PQA. Specifically, we categorize PQA studies into four problem settings in terms of the form of provided answers. We analyze the pros and cons, as well as present existing datasets and evaluation protocols for each setting. We further summarize the most significant challenges that characterize PQA from general QA applications and discuss their corresponding solutions. Finally, we conclude this paper by providing the prospect on several future directions.

3D Medical Image Segmentation with Sparse Annotation via Cross-Teaching between 3D and 2D NetworksHeng Cai, Lei Qi, Qian Yu et al.
Medical image segmentation typically necessitates a large and precisely annotated dataset. However, obtaining pixel-wise annotation is a labor-intensive task that requires significant effort from domain experts, making it challenging to obtain in practical clinical scenarios. In such situations, reducing the amount of annotation required is a more practical approach. One feasible direction is sparse annotation, which involves annotating only a few slices, and has several advantages over traditional weak annotation methods such as bounding boxes and scribbles, as it preserves exact boundaries. However, learning from sparse annotation is challenging due to the scarcity of supervision signals. To address this issue, we propose a framework that can robustly learn from sparse annotation using the cross-teaching of both 3D and 2D networks. Considering the characteristic of these networks, we develop two pseudo label selection strategies, which are hard-soft confidence threshold and consistent label fusion. Our experimental results on the MMWHS dataset demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) semi-supervised segmentation methods. Moreover, our approach achieves results that are comparable to the fully-supervised upper bound result.

Unlocking Attributes' Contribution to Successful Camouflage: A Combined Textual and VisualAnalysis StrategyHong Zhang, Yixuan Lyu, Qian Yu et al.
In the domain of Camouflaged Object Segmentation (COS), despite continuous improvements in segmentation performance, the underlying mechanisms of effective camouflage remain poorly understood, akin to a black box. To address this gap, we present the first comprehensive study to examine the impact of camouflage attributes on the effectiveness of camouflage patterns, offering a quantitative framework for the evaluation of camouflage designs. To support this analysis, we have compiled the first dataset comprising descriptions of camouflaged objects and their attribute contributions, termed COD-Text And X-attributions (COD-TAX). Moreover, drawing inspiration from the hierarchical process by which humans process information: from high-level textual descriptions of overarching scenarios, through mid-level summaries of local areas, to low-level pixel data for detailed analysis. We have developed a robust framework that combines textual and visual information for the task of COS, named Attribution CUe Modeling with Eye-fixation Network (ACUMEN). ACUMEN demonstrates superior performance, outperforming nine leading methods across three widely-used datasets. Feature Decomposition for Reducing Negative Transfer: A Novel Multi-task Learning Method for Recommender SystemJie Zhou, Qian Yu, Chuan Luo et al.
In recent years, thanks to the rapid development of deep learning (DL), DL-based multi-task learning (MTL) has made significant progress, and it has been successfully applied to recommendation systems (RS). However, in a recommender system, the correlations among the involved tasks are complex. Therefore, the existing MTL models designed for RS suffer from negative transfer to different degrees, which will injure optimization in MTL. We find that the root cause of negative transfer is feature redundancy that features learned for different tasks interfere with each other. To alleviate the issue of negative transfer, we propose a novel multi-task learning method termed Feature Decomposition Network (FDN). The key idea of the proposed FDN is reducing the phenomenon of feature redundancy by explicitly decomposing features into task-specific features and task-shared features with carefully designed constraints. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on two datasets, a synthetic dataset and a public datasets (i.e., Ali-CCP). Experimental results show that our proposed FDN can outperform the state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods by a noticeable margin.

Distortion-aware Transformer in 360° Salient Object DetectionYinjie Zhao, Lichen Zhao, Qian Yu et al.
With the emergence of VR and AR, 360° data attracts increasing attention from the computer vision and multimedia communities. Typically, 360° data is projected into 2D ERP (equirectangular projection) images for feature extraction. However, existing methods cannot handle the distortions that result from the projection, hindering the development of 360-data-based tasks. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a Transformer-based model called DATFormer to address the distortion problem. We tackle this issue from two perspectives. Firstly, we introduce two distortion-adaptive modules. The first is a Distortion Mapping Module, which guides the model to pre-adapt to distorted features globally. The second module is a Distortion-Adaptive Attention Block that reduces local distortions on multi-scale features. Secondly, to exploit the unique characteristics of 360° data, we present a learnable relation matrix and use it as part of the positional embedding to further improve performance. Extensive experiments are conducted on three public datasets, and the results show that our model outperforms existing 2D SOD (salient object detection) and 360 SOD methods.

AbdomenAtlas: A Large-Scale, Detailed-Annotated, & Multi-Center Dataset for Efficient Transfer Learning and Open Algorithmic BenchmarkingWenxuan Li, Chongyu Qu, Xiaoxi Chen et al.
We introduce the largest abdominal CT dataset (termed AbdomenAtlas) of 20,460 three-dimensional CT volumes sourced from 112 hospitals across diverse populations, geographies, and facilities. AbdomenAtlas provides 673K high-quality masks of anatomical structures in the abdominal region annotated by a team of 10 radiologists with the help of AI algorithms. We start by having expert radiologists manually annotate 22 anatomical structures in 5,246 CT volumes. Following this, a semi-automatic annotation procedure is performed for the remaining CT volumes, where radiologists revise the annotations predicted by AI, and in turn, AI improves its predictions by learning from revised annotations. Such a large-scale, detailed-annotated, and multi-center dataset is needed for two reasons. Firstly, AbdomenAtlas provides important resources for AI development at scale, branded as large pre-trained models, which can alleviate the annotation workload of expert radiologists to transfer to broader clinical applications. Secondly, AbdomenAtlas establishes a large-scale benchmark for evaluating AI algorithms -- the more data we use to test the algorithms, the better we can guarantee reliable performance in complex clinical scenarios. An ISBI & MICCAI challenge named BodyMaps: Towards 3D Atlas of Human Body was launched using a subset of our AbdomenAtlas, aiming to stimulate AI innovation and to benchmark segmentation accuracy, inference efficiency, and domain generalizability. We hope our AbdomenAtlas can set the stage for larger-scale clinical trials and offer exceptional opportunities to practitioners in the medical imaging community. AutoResearchBench: Benchmarking AI Agents on Complex Scientific Literature DiscoveryLei Xiong, Kun Luo, Ziyi Xia et al.
Autonomous scientific research is significantly advanced thanks to the development of AI agents. One key step in this process is finding the right scientific literature, whether to explore existing knowledge for a research problem, or to acquire evidence for verifying assumptions and supporting claims. To assess AI agents' capability in driving this process, we present AutoResearchBench, a dedicated benchmark for autonomous scientific literature discovery. AutoResearchBench consists of two complementary task types: (1) Deep Research, which requires tracking down a specific target paper through a progressive, multi-step probing process, and (2) Wide Research, which requires comprehensively collecting a set of papers satisfying given conditions. Compared to previous benchmarks on agentic web browsing, AutoResearchBench is distinguished along three dimensions: it is research-oriented, calling for in-depth comprehension of scientific concepts; literature-focused, demanding fine-grained utilization of detailed information; and open-ended, involving an unknown number of qualified papers and thus requiring deliberate reasoning and search throughout. These properties make AutoResearchBench uniquely suited for evaluating autonomous research capabilities, and extraordinarily challenging. Even the most powerful LLMs, despite having largely conquered general agentic web-browsing benchmarks such as BrowseComp, achieve only 9.39% accuracy on Deep Research and 9.31% IoU on Wide Research, while many other strong baselines fall below 5%. We publicly release the dataset and evaluation pipeline to facilitate future research in this direction. SVGDreamer: Text Guided SVG Generation with Diffusion ModelXiming Xing, Haitao Zhou, Chuang Wang et al.
Text-guided scalable vector graphics (SVG) synthesis has broad applications in icon and sketch generation. However, existing text-to-SVG methods often suffer from limited editability, suboptimal visual quality, and low sample diversity. To address these challenges, we propose \textbf{SVGDreamer}, a novel framework for text-guided vector graphics synthesis. Our method introduces a \textbf{semantic-driven image vectorization (SIVE)} process, which decomposes the generation procedure into foreground objects and background elements, thereby improving structural controllability and editability. In particular, SIVE incorporates attention-based primitive control and an attention-mask loss to facilitate fine-grained manipulation of individual vector elements. To further improve generation quality and diversity, we propose \textbf{Vectorized Particle-based Score Distillation (VPSD)}, which models SVGs as distributions over control points and colors. Compared with existing text-to-SVG optimization methods, VPSD alleviates over-smoothed shapes, over-saturated colors, limited diversity, and slow convergence. Moreover, VPSD leverages a reward model to reweight vector particles, leading to better visual aesthetics and faster convergence. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SVGDreamer consistently outperforms existing baselines in editability, visual quality, and diversity. Rethinking Large-scale Pre-ranking System: Entire-chain Cross-domain ModelsJinbo Song, Ruoran Huang, Xinyang Wang et al.
Industrial systems such as recommender systems and online advertising, have been widely equipped with multi-stage architectures, which are divided into several cascaded modules, including matching, pre-ranking, ranking and re-ranking. As a critical bridge between matching and ranking, existing pre-ranking approaches mainly endure sample selection bias (SSB) problem owing to ignoring the entire-chain data dependence, resulting in sub-optimal performances. In this paper, we rethink pre-ranking system from the perspective of the entire sample space, and propose Entire-chain Cross-domain Models (ECM), which leverage samples from the whole cascaded stages to effectively alleviate SSB problem. Besides, we design a fine-grained neural structure named ECMM to further improve the pre-ranking accuracy. Specifically, we propose a cross-domain multi-tower neural network to comprehensively predict for each stage result, and introduce the sub-networking routing strategy with $L0$ regularization to reduce computational costs. Evaluations on real-world large-scale traffic logs demonstrate that our pre-ranking models outperform SOTA methods while time consumption is maintained within an acceptable level, which achieves better trade-off between efficiency and effectiveness.

Exemplar-based sketch-to-photo synthesis allows users to generate photo-realistic images based on sketches. Recently, diffusion-based methods have achieved impressive performance on image generation tasks, enabling highly-flexible control through text-driven generation or energy functions. However, generating photo-realistic images with color and texture from sketch images remains challenging for diffusion models. Sketches typically consist of only a few strokes, with most regions left blank, making it difficult for diffusion-based methods to produce photo-realistic images. In this work, we propose a two-stage method named ``Inversion-by-Inversion" for exemplar-based sketch-to-photo synthesis. This approach includes shape-enhancing inversion and full-control inversion. During the shape-enhancing inversion process, an uncolored photo is generated with the guidance of a shape-energy function. This step is essential to ensure control over the shape of the generated photo. In the full-control inversion process, we propose an appearance-energy function to control the color and texture of the final generated photo.Importantly, our Inversion-by-Inversion pipeline is training-free and can accept different types of exemplars for color and texture control. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate our proposed method, and the results demonstrate its effectiveness. Sample Complexity for Quadratic Bandits: Hessian Dependent Bounds and Optimal AlgorithmsQian Yu, Yining Wang, Baihe Huang et al.
In stochastic zeroth-order optimization, a problem of practical relevance is understanding how to fully exploit the local geometry of the underlying objective function. We consider a fundamental setting in which the objective function is quadratic, and provide the first tight characterization of the optimal Hessian-dependent sample complexity. Our contribution is twofold. First, from an information-theoretic point of view, we prove tight lower bounds on Hessian-dependent complexities by introducing a concept called energy allocation, which captures the interaction between the searching algorithm and the geometry of objective functions. A matching upper bound is obtained by solving the optimal energy spectrum. Then, algorithmically, we show the existence of a Hessian-independent algorithm that universally achieves the asymptotic optimal sample complexities for all Hessian instances. The optimal sample complexities achieved by our algorithm remain valid for heavy-tailed noise distributions, which are enabled by a truncation method.

CAD-Coder: Text-to-CAD Generation with Chain-of-Thought and Geometric RewardYandong Guan, Xilin Wang, Ximing Xing et al.
In this work, we introduce CAD-Coder, a novel framework that reformulates text-to-CAD as the generation of CadQuery scripts - a Python-based, parametric CAD language. This representation enables direct geometric validation, a richer modeling vocabulary, and seamless integration with existing LLMs. To further enhance code validity and geometric fidelity, we propose a two-stage learning pipeline: (1) supervised fine-tuning on paired text-CadQuery data, and (2) reinforcement learning with Group Reward Policy Optimization (GRPO), guided by a CAD-specific reward comprising both a geometric reward (Chamfer Distance) and a format reward. We also introduce a chain-of-thought (CoT) planning process to improve model reasoning, and construct a large-scale, high-quality dataset of 110K text-CadQuery-3D model triplets and 1.5K CoT samples via an automated pipeline. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CAD-Coder enables LLMs to generate diverse, valid, and complex CAD models directly from natural language, advancing the state of the art of text-to-CAD generation and geometric reasoning.

AmodalSVG: Amodal Image Vectorization via Semantic Layer PeelingJuncheng Hu, Ziteng Xue, Guotao Liang et al.
We introduce AmodalSVG, a new framework for amodal image vectorization that produces semantically organized and geometrically complete SVG representations from natural images. Existing vectorization methods operate under a modal paradigm: tracing only visible pixels and disregarding occlusion. Consequently, the resulting SVGs are semantically entangled and geometrically incomplete, limiting SVG's structural editability. In contrast, AmodalSVG reconstructs full object geometries, including occluded regions, into independent, editable vector layers. To achieve this, AmodalSVG reformulates image vectorization as a two-stage framework, performing semantic decoupling and completion in the raster domain to produce amodally complete semantic layers, which are then independently vectorized. In the first stage, we introduce Semantic Layer Peeling (SLP), a VLM-guided strategy that progressively decomposes an image into semantically coherent layers. By hybrid inpainting, SLP recovers complete object appearances under occlusions, enabling explicit semantic decoupling. To vectorize these layers efficiently, we propose Adaptive Layered Vectorization (ALV), which dynamically modulates the primitive budget via an error-budget-driven adjustment mechanism. Extensive experiments demonstrate that AmodalSVG significantly outperforms prior methods in visual fidelity. Moreover, the resulting amodal layers enable object-level editing directly in the vector domain, capabilities not supported by existing vectorization approaches. TrackGo: A Flexible and Efficient Method for Controllable Video GenerationHaitao Zhou, Chuang Wang, Rui Nie et al.
Recent years have seen substantial progress in diffusion-based controllable video generation. However, achieving precise control in complex scenarios, including fine-grained object parts, sophisticated motion trajectories, and coherent background movement, remains a challenge. In this paper, we introduce TrackGo, a novel approach that leverages free-form masks and arrows for conditional video generation. This method offers users with a flexible and precise mechanism for manipulating video content. We also propose the TrackAdapter for control implementation, an efficient and lightweight adapter designed to be seamlessly integrated into the temporal self-attention layers of a pretrained video generation model. This design leverages our observation that the attention map of these layers can accurately activate regions corresponding to motion in videos. Our experimental results demonstrate that our new approach, enhanced by the TrackAdapter, achieves state-of-the-art performance on key metrics such as FVD, FID, and ObjMC scores.

Multi-view Aggregation Network for Dichotomous Image SegmentationQian Yu, Xiaoqi Zhao, Youwei Pang et al.
Dichotomous Image Segmentation (DIS) has recently emerged towards high-precision object segmentation from high-resolution natural images. When designing an effective DIS model, the main challenge is how to balance the semantic dispersion of high-resolution targets in the small receptive field and the loss of high-precision details in the large receptive field. Existing methods rely on tedious multiple encoder-decoder streams and stages to gradually complete the global localization and local refinement. Human visual system captures regions of interest by observing them from multiple views. Inspired by it, we model DIS as a multi-view object perception problem and provide a parsimonious multi-view aggregation network (MVANet), which unifies the feature fusion of the distant view and close-up view into a single stream with one encoder-decoder structure. With the help of the proposed multi-view complementary localization and refinement modules, our approach established long-range, profound visual interactions across multiple views, allowing the features of the detailed close-up view to focus on highly slender structures.Experiments on the popular DIS-5K dataset show that our MVANet significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both accuracy and speed. ArtiCAD: Articulated CAD Assembly Design via Multi-Agent Code GenerationYuan Shui, Yandong Guan, Zhanwei Zhang et al.
Parametric Computer-Aided Design (CAD) of articulated assemblies is essential for product development, yet generating these multi-part, movable models from high-level descriptions remains unexplored. To address this, we propose ArtiCAD, the first training-free multi-agent system capable of generating editable, articulated CAD assemblies directly from text or images. Our system divides this complex task among four specialized agents: Design, Generation, Assembly, and Review. One of our key insights is to predict assembly relationships during the initial design stage rather than the assembly stage. By utilizing a Connector that explicitly defines attachment points and joint parameters, ArtiCAD determines these relationships before geometry generation, effectively bypassing the limited spatial reasoning capabilities of current LLMs and VLMs. To further ensure high-quality outputs, we introduce validation steps in the generation and assembly stages, accompanied by a cross-stage rollback mechanism that accurately isolates and corrects design- and code-level errors. Additionally, a self-evolving experience store accumulates design knowledge to continuously improve performance on future tasks. Extensive evaluations on three datasets (ArtiCAD-Bench, CADPrompt, and ACD) validate the effectiveness of our approach. We further demonstrate the applicability of ArtiCAD in requirement-driven conceptual design, physical prototyping, and the generation of embodied AI training assets through URDF export.

Contrastive Learning for Knowledge-Based Question Generation in Large Language ModelsZhenhong Zhang, Jiajing Chen, Weiyan Shi et al.
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, especially the increasingly widespread application of question-and-answer systems, high-quality question generation has become a key component in supporting the development of these systems. This article focuses on knowledge-based question generation technology, which aims to enable computers to simulate the human questioning process based on understanding specific texts or knowledge bases. In light of the issues of hallucination and knowledge gaps present in large-scale language models when applied to knowledge-intensive tasks, this paper proposes an enhanced question generation method that incorporates contrastive learning. This method utilizes multiple models to jointly mine domain knowledge and uses contrastive learning to guide the model in reducing noise and hallucinations in generation. Experimental results show that by designing prompts containing contrasting examples, the model's performance in question generation improves considerably, particularly when contrasting instructions and examples are used simultaneously, leading to the highest quality of generated questions and improved accuracy. These results demonstrate that the method proposed in this study, which combines contrasting context and chain-of-thought prompts, can effectively improve both the quality and the practicality of question generation.

Constructing and Exploring Intermediate Domains in Mixed Domain Semi-supervised Medical Image SegmentationQinghe Ma, Jian Zhang, Lei Qi et al.
Both limited annotation and domain shift are prevalent challenges in medical image segmentation. Traditional semi-supervised segmentation and unsupervised domain adaptation methods address one of these issues separately. However, the coexistence of limited annotation and domain shift is quite common, which motivates us to introduce a novel and challenging scenario: Mixed Domain Semi-supervised medical image Segmentation (MiDSS). In this scenario, we handle data from multiple medical centers, with limited annotations available for a single domain and a large amount of unlabeled data from multiple domains. We found that the key to solving the problem lies in how to generate reliable pseudo labels for the unlabeled data in the presence of domain shift with labeled data. To tackle this issue, we employ Unified Copy-Paste (UCP) between images to construct intermediate domains, facilitating the knowledge transfer from the domain of labeled data to the domains of unlabeled data. To fully utilize the information within the intermediate domain, we propose a symmetric Guidance training strategy (SymGD), which additionally offers direct guidance to unlabeled data by merging pseudo labels from intermediate samples. Subsequently, we introduce a Training Process aware Random Amplitude MixUp (TP-RAM) to progressively incorporate style-transition components into intermediate samples. Compared with existing state-of-the-art approaches, our method achieves a notable 13.57% improvement in Dice score on Prostate dataset, as demonstrated on three public datasets. Deep learning models have the ability to extract rich knowledge from large-scale datasets. However, the sharing of data has become increasingly challenging due to concerns regarding data copyright and privacy. Consequently, this hampers the effective transfer of knowledge from existing data to novel downstream tasks and concepts. Zero-shot learning (ZSL) approaches aim to recognize new classes by transferring semantic knowledge learned from base classes. However, traditional generative ZSL methods often require access to real images from base classes and rely on manually annotated attributes, which presents challenges in terms of data restrictions and model scalability. To this end, this paper tackles a challenging and practical problem dubbed as data-free zero-shot learning (DFZSL), where only the CLIP-based base classes data pre-trained classifier is available for zero-shot classification. Specifically, we propose a generic framework for DFZSL, which consists of three main components. Firstly, to recover the virtual features of the base data, we model the CLIP features of base class images as samples from a von Mises-Fisher (vMF) distribution based on the pre-trained classifier. Secondly, we leverage the text features of CLIP as low-cost semantic information and propose a feature-language prompt tuning (FLPT) method to further align the virtual image features and textual features. Thirdly, we train a conditional generative model using the well-aligned virtual image features and corresponding semantic text features, enabling the generation of new classes features and achieve better zero-shot generalization. Our framework has been evaluated on five commonly used benchmarks for generalized ZSL, as well as 11 benchmarks for the base-to-new ZSL. VAnim: Rendering-Aware Sparse State Modeling for Structure-Preserving Vector AnimationGuotao Liang, Zhangcheng Wang, Chuang Wang et al.
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) animation generation is pivotal for professional design due to their structural editability and resolution independence. However, this task remains challenging as it requires bridging discrete code representations with continuous visual dynamics. Existing optimization-based methods often destroy topological consistency, while general-purpose LLMs rely on rigid CSS/SMIL transformations, failing to model geometry-level non-rigid deformations. To address these limitations, we present VAnim, the first LLM-based framework for open-domain text-to-SVG animation. We reconceptualize animation not as sequence generation, but as Sparse State Updates (SSU) on a persistent SVG DOM tree. This paradigm compresses sequence length by over 9.8x while preserving the SVG DOM structure and non-participating elements by construction. To enable precise control, we propose an Identification-First Motion Planning mechanism that grounds textual instructions in explicit visual entities. Furthermore, to overcome the non-differentiable nature of SVG rendering, we employ Rendering-Aware Reinforcement Learning via Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO). By leveraging a hybrid reward from a state-of-the-art video perception encoder, we align discrete code updates with high-fidelity visual feedback. We also introduce SVGAnim-134k, the first benchmark for vector animation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VAnim significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in semantic alignment and structural validity, with additional appendix metrics further validating motion quality and identity preservation.

Lumina-DiMOO: An Omni Diffusion Large Language Model for Multi-Modal Generation and UnderstandingYi Xin, Qi Qin, Siqi Luo et al.
We introduce Lumina-DiMOO, an open-source foundational model for seamless multi-modal generation and understanding. Lumina-DiMOO sets itself apart from prior unified models by utilizing a fully discrete diffusion modeling to handle inputs and outputs across various modalities. This innovative approach allows Lumina-DiMOO to achieve higher sampling efficiency compared to previous autoregressive (AR) or hybrid AR-Diffusion paradigms and adeptly support a broad spectrum of multi-modal tasks, including text-to-image generation, image-to-image generation (e.g., image editing, subject-driven generation, and image inpainting, etc.), as well as image understanding. Lumina-DiMOO achieves state-of-the-art performance on multiple benchmarks, surpassing existing open-source unified multi-modal models. Hierarchical SVG Tokenization: Learning Compact Visual Programs for Scalable Vector Graphics ModelingXiming Xing, Ziteng Xue, Zhenxi Li et al.
Recent large language models have shifted SVG generation from differentiable rendering optimization to autoregressive program synthesis. However, existing approaches still rely on generic byte-level tokenization inherited from natural language processing, which poorly reflects the geometric structure of vector graphics. Numerical coordinates are fragmented into discrete symbols, destroying spatial relationships and introducing severe token redundancy, often leading to coordinate hallucination and inefficient long-sequence generation. To address these challenges, we propose HiVG, a hierarchical SVG tokenization framework tailored for autoregressive vector graphics generation. HiVG decomposes raw SVG strings into structured \textit{atomic tokens} and further compresses executable command--parameter groups into geometry-constrained \textit{segment tokens}, substantially improving sequence efficiency while preserving syntactic validity. To further mitigate spatial mismatch, we introduce a Hierarchical Mean--Noise (HMN) initialization strategy that injects numerical ordering signals and semantic priors into new token embeddings. Combined with a curriculum training paradigm that progressively increases program complexity, HiVG enables more stable learning of executable SVG programs. Extensive experiments on both text-to-SVG and image-to-SVG tasks demonstrate improved generation fidelity, spatial consistency, and sequence efficiency compared with conventional tokenization schemes.

Multi-modality Affinity Inference for Weakly Supervised 3D Semantic SegmentationXiawei Li, Qingyuan Xu, Jing Zhang et al.
3D point cloud semantic segmentation has a wide range of applications. Recently, weakly supervised point cloud segmentation methods have been proposed, aiming to alleviate the expensive and laborious manual annotation process by leveraging scene-level labels. However, these methods have not effectively exploited the rich geometric information (such as shape and scale) and appearance information (such as color and texture) present in RGB-D scans. Furthermore, current approaches fail to fully leverage the point affinity that can be inferred from the feature extraction network, which is crucial for learning from weak scene-level labels. Additionally, previous work overlooks the detrimental effects of the long-tailed distribution of point cloud data in weakly supervised 3D semantic segmentation. To this end, this paper proposes a simple yet effective scene-level weakly supervised point cloud segmentation method with a newly introduced multi-modality point affinity inference module. The point affinity proposed in this paper is characterized by features from multiple modalities (e.g., point cloud and RGB), and is further refined by normalizing the classifier weights to alleviate the detrimental effects of long-tailed distribution without the need of the prior of category distribution. Extensive experiments on the ScanNet and S3DIS benchmarks verify the effectiveness of our proposed method, which outperforms the state-of-the-art by ~4% to ~6% mIoU. High-Precision Dichotomous Image Segmentation via Probing Diffusion CapacityQian Yu, Peng-Tao Jiang, Hao Zhang et al.
In the realm of high-resolution (HR), fine-grained image segmentation, the primary challenge is balancing broad contextual awareness with the precision required for detailed object delineation, capturing intricate details and the finest edges of objects. Diffusion models, trained on vast datasets comprising billions of image-text pairs, such as SD V2.1, have revolutionized text-to-image synthesis by delivering exceptional quality, fine detail resolution, and strong contextual awareness, making them an attractive solution for high-resolution image segmentation. To this end, we propose DiffDIS, a diffusion-driven segmentation model that taps into the potential of the pre-trained U-Net within diffusion models, specifically designed for high-resolution, fine-grained object segmentation. By leveraging the robust generalization capabilities and rich, versatile image representation prior of the SD models, coupled with a task-specific stable one-step denoising approach, we significantly reduce the inference time while preserving high-fidelity, detailed generation. Additionally, we introduce an auxiliary edge generation task to not only enhance the preservation of fine details of the object boundaries, but reconcile the probabilistic nature of diffusion with the deterministic demands of segmentation. With these refined strategies in place, DiffDIS serves as a rapid object mask generation model, specifically optimized for generating detailed binary maps at high resolutions, while demonstrating impressive accuracy and swift processing. Experiments on the DIS5K dataset demonstrate the superiority of DiffDIS, achieving state-of-the-art results through a streamlined inference process. Molecular Identifier Visual Prompt and Verifiable Reinforcement Learning for Chemical Reaction Diagram ParsingJiahe Song, Chuang Wang, Yinfan Wang et al.
Reaction diagram parsing (RxnDP) is critical for extracting chemical synthesis information from literature. Although recent Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have emerged as a promising paradigm to automate this complex visual reasoning task, their application is fundamentally bottlenecked by the inability to align visual chemical entities with pre-trained knowledge, alongside the inherent discrepancy between token-level training and reaction-level evaluation. To address these dual challenges, this work enhances VLM-based RxnDP from two complementary perspectives: prompting representation and learning paradigms. First, we propose Identifier as Visual Prompting (IdtVP), which leverages naturally occurring molecule identifiers (e.g., bold numerals like 1a) to activate the chemical knowledge acquired during VLM pre-training. IdtVP enables powerful zero-shot and out-of-distribution capabilities, outperforming existing prompting strategies. Second, to further optimize performance within fine-tuning paradigms, we introduce Re3-DAPO, a reinforcement learning algorithm that leverages verifiable rewards to directly optimize reaction-level metrics, thereby achieving consistent gains over standard supervised fine-tuning. Additionally, we release the ScannedRxn benchmark, comprising scanned historical reaction diagrams with real-world artifacts, to rigorously assess model robustness and out-of-distribution ability. Our contributions advance the accuracy and generalization of VLM-based reaction diagram parsing. We will release data, models, and code on GitHub.

Towards Automatic Power Battery Detection: New Challenge, Benchmark Dataset and BaselineXiaoqi Zhao, Youwei Pang, Zhenyu Chen et al.
We conduct a comprehensive study on a new task named power battery detection (PBD), which aims to localize the dense cathode and anode plates endpoints from X-ray images to evaluate the quality of power batteries. Existing manufacturers usually rely on human eye observation to complete PBD, which makes it difficult to balance the accuracy and efficiency of detection. To address this issue and drive more attention into this meaningful task, we first elaborately collect a dataset, called X-ray PBD, which has $1,500$ diverse X-ray images selected from thousands of power batteries of $5$ manufacturers, with $7$ different visual interference. Then, we propose a novel segmentation-based solution for PBD, termed multi-dimensional collaborative network (MDCNet). With the help of line and counting predictors, the representation of the point segmentation branch can be improved at both semantic and detail aspects.Besides, we design an effective distance-adaptive mask generation strategy, which can alleviate the visual challenge caused by the inconsistent distribution density of plates to provide MDCNet with stable supervision. Without any bells and whistles, our segmentation-based MDCNet consistently outperforms various other corner detection, crowd counting and general/tiny object detection-based solutions, making it a strong baseline that can help facilitate future research in PBD. Steady Progress Beats Stagnation: Mutual Aid of Foundation and Conventional Models in Mixed Domain Semi-Supervised Medical Image SegmentationQinghe Ma, Jian Zhang, Zekun Li et al.
Large pretrained visual foundation models exhibit impressive general capabilities. However, the extensive prior knowledge inherent in these models can sometimes be a double-edged sword when adapting them to downstream tasks in specific domains. In the context of semi-supervised medical image segmentation with domain shift, foundation models like MedSAM tend to make overconfident predictions, some of which are incorrect. The error accumulation hinders the effective utilization of unlabeled data and limits further improvements. In this paper, we introduce a Synergistic training framework for Foundation and Conventional models (SynFoC) to address the issue. We observe that a conventional model trained from scratch has the ability to correct the high-confidence mispredictions of the foundation model, while the foundation model can supervise it with high-quality pseudo-labels in the early training stages. Furthermore, to enhance the collaborative training effectiveness of both models and promote reliable convergence towards optimization, the consensus-divergence consistency regularization is proposed. We demonstrate the superiority of our method across four public multi-domain datasets. In particular, our method improves the Dice score by 10.31\% on the Prostate dataset. Prune4Web: DOM Tree Pruning Programming for Web AgentJiayuan Zhang, Kaiquan Chen, Zhihao Lu et al.
Web automation employs intelligent agents to execute high-level tasks by mimicking human interactions with web interfaces. Despite the capabilities of recent Large Language Model (LLM)-based web agents, navigating complex, real-world webpages efficiently remains a significant hurdle due to the prohibitively large size of Document Object Model (DOM) structures, often ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 tokens. Existing strategies typically rely on crude DOM truncation -- risking the loss of critical information -- or employ inefficient heuristics and separate ranking models, failing to achieve an optimal balance between precision and scalability. To address these challenges, we introduce Prune4Web, a novel paradigm that shifts DOM processing from resource-intensive LLM reading to efficient programmatic pruning. Central to our approach is DOM Tree Pruning Programming, where an LLM generates executable Python scoring scripts to dynamically filter DOM elements based on semantic cues from decomposed sub-tasks. This mechanism eliminates the need for LLMs to ingest raw, massive DOMs, instead delegating traversal and scoring to lightweight, interpretable programs. This methodology achieves a 25x to 50x reduction in candidate elements for grounding, thereby facilitating precise action localization while mitigating attention dilution. Furthermore, we propose a specialized data annotation pipeline and a two-turn dialogue training strategy that jointly optimizes the Planner, Programmatic Filter, and Grounder within a unified framework. Extensive experiments demonstrate state-of-the-art performance. Notably, on our low-level grounding task, Prune4Web dramatically improves accuracy from 46.8% to 88.28%, underscoring its efficacy in real-world web automation.

TransBench: Breaking Barriers for Transferable Graphical User Interface Agents in Dynamic Digital EnvironmentsYuheng Lu, Qian Yu, Hongru Wang et al.
Graphical User Interface (GUI) agents, which autonomously operate on digital interfaces through natural language instructions, hold transformative potential for accessibility, automation, and user experience. A critical aspect of their functionality is grounding - the ability to map linguistic intents to visual and structural interface elements. However, existing GUI agents often struggle to adapt to the dynamic and interconnected nature of real-world digital environments, where tasks frequently span multiple platforms and applications while also being impacted by version updates. To address this, we introduce TransBench, the first benchmark designed to systematically evaluate and enhance the transferability of GUI agents across three key dimensions: cross-version transferability (adapting to version updates), cross-platform transferability (generalizing across platforms like iOS, Android, and Web), and cross-application transferability (handling tasks spanning functionally distinct apps). TransBench includes 15 app categories with diverse functionalities, capturing essential pages across versions and platforms to enable robust evaluation. Our experiments demonstrate significant improvements in grounding accuracy, showcasing the practical utility of GUI agents in dynamic, real-world environments. RxnCaption: Reformulating Reaction Diagram Parsing as Visual Prompt Guided CaptioningJiahe Song, Chuang Wang, Bowen Jiang et al.
Large-scale chemical reaction datasets are crucial for AI research in chemistry. However, existing chemical reaction data often exist as images within papers, making them not machine-readable and unusable for training machine learning models. In response to this challenge, we propose the RxnCaption framework for the task of chemical Reaction Diagram Parsing (RxnDP). Our framework reformulates the traditional coordinate prediction driven parsing process into an image captioning problem, which Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) handle naturally. We introduce a strategy termed "BBox and Index as Visual Prompt" (BIVP), which uses our state-of-the-art molecular detector, MolYOLO, to pre-draw molecular bounding boxes and indices directly onto the input image. This turns the downstream parsing into a natural-language description problem. Extensive experiments show that the BIVP strategy significantly improves structural extraction quality while simplifying model design. We further construct the RxnCaption-11k dataset, an order of magnitude larger than prior real-world literature benchmarks, with a balanced test subset across four layout archetypes. Experiments demonstrate that RxnCaption-VL achieves state-of-the-art performance on multiple metrics. We believe our method, dataset, and models will advance structured information extraction from chemical literature and catalyze broader AI applications in chemistry. Unleashing the Power of Intermediate Domains for Mixed Domain Semi-Supervised Medical Image SegmentationQinghe Ma, Jian Zhang, Lei Qi et al.
Both limited annotation and domain shift are prevalent challenges in medical image segmentation. Traditional semi-supervised segmentation and unsupervised domain adaptation methods address one of these issues separately. However, the coexistence of limited annotation and domain shift is quite common, which motivates us to introduce a novel and challenging scenario: Mixed Domain Semi-supervised medical image Segmentation (MiDSS), where limited labeled data from a single domain and a large amount of unlabeled data from multiple domains. To tackle this issue, we propose the UST-RUN framework, which fully leverages intermediate domain information to facilitate knowledge transfer. We employ Unified Copy-paste (UCP) to construct intermediate domains, and propose a Symmetric GuiDance training strategy (SymGD) to supervise unlabeled data by merging pseudo-labels from intermediate samples. Subsequently, we introduce a Training Process aware Random Amplitude MixUp (TP-RAM) to progressively incorporate style-transition components into intermediate samples. To generate more diverse intermediate samples, we further select reliable samples with high-quality pseudo-labels, which are then mixed with other unlabeled data. Additionally, we generate sophisticated intermediate samples with high-quality pseudo-labels for unreliable samples, ensuring effective knowledge transfer for them. Extensive experiments on four public datasets demonstrate the superiority of UST-RUN. Notably, UST-RUN achieves a 12.94% improvement in Dice score on the Prostate dataset. Dual-Teacher Ensemble Models with Double-Copy-Paste for 3D Semi-Supervised Medical Image SegmentationZhan Fa, Shumeng Li, Jian Zhang et al.
Semi-supervised learning (SSL) techniques address the high labeling costs in 3D medical image segmentation, with the teacher-student model being a common approach. However, using an exponential moving average (EMA) in single-teacher models may cause coupling issues, where the weights of the student and teacher models become similar, limiting the teacher's ability to provide additional knowledge for the student. Dual-teacher models were introduced to address this problem but often neglected the importance of maintaining teacher model diversity, leading to coupling issues among teachers. To address the coupling issue, we incorporate a double-copy-paste (DCP) technique to enhance the diversity among the teachers. Additionally, we introduce the Staged Selective Ensemble (SSE) module, which selects different ensemble methods based on the characteristics of the samples and enables more accurate segmentation of label boundaries, thereby improving the quality of pseudo-labels. Crosslink-Net: Double-branch Encoder Segmentation Network via Fusing Vertical and Horizontal ConvolutionsQian Yu, Lei Qi, Luping Zhou et al.
Accurate image segmentation plays a crucial role in medical image analysis, yet it faces great challenges of various shapes, diverse sizes, and blurry boundaries. To address these difficulties, square kernel-based encoder-decoder architecture has been proposed and widely used, but its performance remains still unsatisfactory. To further cope with these challenges, we present a novel double-branch encoder architecture. Our architecture is inspired by two observations: 1) Since the discrimination of features learned via square convolutional kernels needs to be further improved, we propose to utilize non-square vertical and horizontal convolutional kernels in the double-branch encoder, so features learned by the two branches can be expected to complement each other. 2) Considering that spatial attention can help models to better focus on the target region in a large-sized image, we develop an attention loss to further emphasize the segmentation on small-sized targets. Together, the above two schemes give rise to a novel double-branch encoder segmentation framework for medical image segmentation, namely Crosslink-Net. 3D Shape Reconstruction from Free-Hand SketchesJiayun Wang, Jierui Lin, Qian Yu et al.
Sketches are the most abstract 2D representations of real-world objects. Although a sketch usually has geometrical distortion and lacks visual cues, humans can effortlessly envision a 3D object from it. This suggests that sketches encode the information necessary for reconstructing 3D shapes. Despite great progress achieved in 3D reconstruction from distortion-free line drawings, such as CAD and edge maps, little effort has been made to reconstruct 3D shapes from free-hand sketches. We study this task and aim to enhance the power of sketches in 3D-related applications such as interactive design and VR/AR games. Unlike previous works, which mostly study distortion-free line drawings, our 3D shape reconstruction is based on free-hand sketches. A major challenge for free-hand sketch 3D reconstruction comes from the insufficient training data and free-hand sketch diversity, e.g. individualized sketching styles. We thus propose data generation and standardization mechanisms. Instead of distortion-free line drawings, synthesized sketches are adopted as input training data. Additionally, we propose a sketch standardization module to handle different sketch distortions and styles. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our model and its strong generalizability to various free-hand sketches. SketchyScene: Richly-Annotated Scene SketchesChangqing Zou, Qian Yu, Ruofei Du et al.
We contribute the first large-scale dataset of scene sketches, SketchyScene, with the goal of advancing research on sketch understanding at both the object and scene level. The dataset is created through a novel and carefully designed crowdsourcing pipeline, enabling users to efficiently generate large quantities of realistic and diverse scene sketches. SketchyScene contains more than 29,000 scene-level sketches, 7,000+ pairs of scene templates and photos, and 11,000+ object sketches. All objects in the scene sketches have ground-truth semantic and instance masks. The dataset is also highly scalable and extensible, easily allowing augmenting and/or changing scene composition. We demonstrate the potential impact of SketchyScene by training new computational models for semantic segmentation of scene sketches and showing how the new dataset enables several applications including image retrieval, sketch colorization, editing, and captioning, etc. The dataset and code can be found at https://github.com/SketchyScene/SketchyScene.

SVGDreamer: Text Guided SVG Generation with Diffusion ModelXiming Xing, Haitao Zhou, Chuang Wang et al.
Recently, text-guided scalable vector graphics (SVGs) synthesis has shown promise in domains such as iconography and sketch. However, existing text-to-SVG generation methods lack editability and struggle with visual quality and result diversity. To address these limitations, we propose a novel text-guided vector graphics synthesis method called SVGDreamer. SVGDreamer incorporates a semantic-driven image vectorization (SIVE) process that enables the decomposition of synthesis into foreground objects and background, thereby enhancing editability. Specifically, the SIVE process introduces attention-based primitive control and an attention-mask loss function for effective control and manipulation of individual elements. Additionally, we propose a Vectorized Particle-based Score Distillation (VPSD) approach to address issues of shape over-smoothing, color over-saturation, limited diversity, and slow convergence of the existing text-to-SVG generation methods by modeling SVGs as distributions of control points and colors. Furthermore, VPSD leverages a reward model to re-weight vector particles, which improves aesthetic appeal and accelerates convergence. Extensive experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of SVGDreamer, demonstrating its superiority over baseline methods in terms of editability, visual quality, and diversity. Render-in-the-Loop: Vector Graphics Generation via Visual Self-FeedbackGuotao Liang, Zhangcheng Wang, Juncheng Hu et al.
Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have shown promising capabilities in generating Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) via direct code synthesis. However, existing paradigms typically adopt an open-loop "blind drawing" approach, where models generate symbolic code sequences without perceiving intermediate visual outcomes. This methodology severely underutilizes the powerful visual priors embedded in MLLMs vision encoders, treating SVG generation as a disjointed textual sequence modeling task rather than an integrated visuo-spatial one. Consequently, models struggle to reason about partial canvas states and implicit occlusion relationships, which are visually explicit but textually ambiguous. To bridge this gap, we propose Render-in-the-Loop, a novel generation paradigm that reformulates SVG synthesis as a step-wise, visual-context-aware process. By rendering intermediate code states into a cumulative canvas, the model explicitly observes the evolving visual context at each step, leveraging on-the-fly feedback to guide subsequent generation. However, we demonstrate that applying this visual loop naively to off-the-shelf models is suboptimal due to their inability to leverage incremental visual-code mappings. To address this, we first utilize fine-grained path decomposition to construct dense multi-step visual trajectories, and then introduce a Visual Self-Feedback (VSF) training strategy to condition the next primitive generation on intermediate visual states. Furthermore, a Render-and-Verify (RaV) inference mechanism is proposed to effectively filter degenerate and redundant primitives. Our framework, instantiated on a multimodal foundation model, outperforms strong open-weight baselines on the standard MMSVGBench. This result highlights the remarkable data efficiency and generalization capability of our Render-in-the-Loop paradigm for both Text-to-SVG and Image-to-SVG tasks.

Empowering LLMs to Understand and Generate Complex Vector GraphicsXiming Xing, Juncheng Hu, Guotao Liang et al.
The unprecedented advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have profoundly impacted natural language processing but have yet to fully embrace the realm of scalable vector graphics (SVG) generation. While LLMs encode partial knowledge of SVG data from web pages during training, recent findings suggest that semantically ambiguous and tokenized representations within LLMs may result in hallucinations in vector primitive predictions. Additionally, LLM training typically lacks modeling and understanding of the rendering sequence of vector paths, which can lead to occlusion between output vector primitives. In this paper, we present LLM4SVG, an initial yet substantial step toward bridging this gap by enabling LLMs to better understand and generate vector graphics. LLM4SVG facilitates a deeper understanding of SVG components through learnable semantic tokens, which precisely encode these tokens and their corresponding properties to generate semantically aligned SVG outputs. Using a series of learnable semantic tokens, a structured dataset for instruction following is developed to support comprehension and generation across two primary tasks. Our method introduces a modular architecture to existing large language models, integrating semantic tags, vector instruction encoders, fine-tuned commands, and powerful LLMs to tightly combine geometric, appearance, and language information. To overcome the scarcity of SVG-text instruction data, we developed an automated data generation pipeline that collected our SVGX-SFT Dataset, consisting of high-quality human-designed SVGs and 580k SVG instruction following data specifically crafted for LLM training, which facilitated the adoption of the supervised fine-tuning strategy popular in LLM development.
