Vision-Driven 2D Supervised Fine-Tuning Framework for Bird's Eye View Perception

Lei He, Qiaoyi Wang, Honglin Sun et al.

Visual bird's eye view (BEV) perception, due to its excellent perceptual capabilities, is progressively replacing costly LiDAR-based perception systems, especially in the realm of urban intelligent driving. However, this type of perception still relies on LiDAR data to construct ground truth databases, a process that is both cumbersome and time-consuming. Moreover, most massproduced autonomous driving systems are only equipped with surround camera sensors and lack LiDAR data for precise annotation. To tackle this challenge, we propose a fine-tuning method for BEV perception network based on visual 2D semantic perception, aimed at enhancing the model's generalization capabilities in new scene data. Considering the maturity and development of 2D perception technologies, our method significantly reduces the dependency on high-cost BEV ground truths and shows promising industrial application prospects. Extensive experiments and comparative analyses conducted on the nuScenes and Waymo public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

T-Mamba: A unified framework with Long-Range Dependency in dual-domain for 2D & 3D Tooth Segmentation

Jing Hao, Yonghui Zhu, Lei He et al.

Tooth segmentation is a pivotal step in modern digital dentistry, essential for applications across orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. Despite its importance, this process is fraught with challenges due to the high noise and low contrast inherent in 2D and 3D tooth data. Both Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Transformers has shown promise in medical image segmentation, yet each method has limitations in handling long-range dependencies and computational complexity. To address this issue, this paper introduces T-Mamba, integrating frequency-based features and shared bi-positional encoding into vision mamba to address limitations in efficient global feature modeling. Besides, we design a gate selection unit to integrate two features in spatial domain and one feature in frequency domain adaptively. T-Mamba is the first work to introduce frequency-based features into vision mamba, and its flexibility allows it to process both 2D and 3D tooth data without the need for separate modules. Also, the TED3, a large-scale public tooth 2D dental X-ray dataset, has been presented in this paper. Extensive experiments demonstrate that T-Mamba achieves new SOTA results on a public tooth CBCT dataset and outperforms previous SOTA methods on TED3 dataset. The code and models are publicly available at: https://github.com/isbrycee/T-Mamba.

Diff-Net: Image Feature Difference based High-Definition Map Change Detection for Autonomous Driving

Lei He, Shengjie Jiang, Xiaoqing Liang et al.

Up-to-date High-Definition (HD) maps are essential for self-driving cars. To achieve constantly updated HD maps, we present a deep neural network (DNN), Diff-Net, to detect changes in them. Compared to traditional methods based on object detectors, the essential design in our work is a parallel feature difference calculation structure that infers map changes by comparing features extracted from the camera and rasterized images. To generate these rasterized images, we project map elements onto images in the camera view, yielding meaningful map representations that can be consumed by a DNN accordingly. As we formulate the change detection task as an object detection problem, we leverage the anchor-based structure that predicts bounding boxes with different change status categories. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed method is the first end-to-end network that tackles the high-definition map change detection task, yielding a single stage solution. Furthermore, rather than relying on single frame input, we introduce a spatio-temporal fusion module that fuses features from history frames into the current, thus improving the overall performance. Finally, we comprehensively validate our method's effectiveness using freshly collected datasets. Results demonstrate that our Diff-Net achieves better performance than the baseline methods and is ready to be integrated into a map production pipeline maintaining an up-to-date HD map.
