Multilevel Transformer For Multimodal Emotion RecognitionJunyi He, Meimei Wu, Meng Li et al.
Multimodal emotion recognition has attracted much attention recently. Fusing multiple modalities effectively with limited labeled data is a challenging task. Considering the success of pre-trained model and fine-grained nature of emotion expression, it is reasonable to take these two aspects into consideration. Unlike previous methods that mainly focus on one aspect, we introduce a novel multi-granularity framework, which combines fine-grained representation with pre-trained utterance-level representation. Inspired by Transformer TTS, we propose a multilevel transformer model to perform fine-grained multimodal emotion recognition. Specifically, we explore different methods to incorporate phoneme-level embedding with word-level embedding. To perform multi-granularity learning, we simply combine multilevel transformer model with Albert. Extensive experimental results show that both our multilevel transformer model and multi-granularity model outperform previous state-of-the-art approaches on IEMOCAP dataset with text transcripts and speech signal.

UltraSeP: Sequence-aware Pre-training for Echocardiography Probe Movement GuidanceHaojun Jiang, Teng Wang, Zhenguo Sun et al.
Echocardiography is an essential medical technique for diagnosing cardiovascular diseases, but its high operational complexity has led to a shortage of trained professionals. To address this issue, we introduce a novel probe movement guidance algorithm that has the potential to be applied in guiding robotic systems or novices with probe pose adjustment for high-quality standard plane image acquisition.Cardiac ultrasound faces two major challenges: (1) the inherently complex structure of the heart, and (2) significant individual variations. Previous works have only learned the population-averaged structure of the heart rather than personalized cardiac structures, leading to a performance bottleneck. Clinically, we observe that sonographers dynamically adjust their interpretation of a patient's cardiac anatomy based on prior scanning sequences, consequently refining their scanning strategies. Inspired by this, we propose a novel sequence-aware self-supervised pre-training method. Specifically, our approach learns personalized three-dimensional cardiac structural features by predicting the masked-out image features and probe movement actions in a scanning sequence. We hypothesize that if the model can predict the missing content it has acquired a good understanding of personalized cardiac structure. Extensive experiments on a large-scale expert scanning dataset with 1.67 million samples demonstrate that our proposed sequence-aware paradigm can effectively reduce probe guidance errors compared to other advanced baseline methods.
Adversarial Versus Federated: An Adversarial Learning based Multi-Modality Cross-Domain Federated Medical SegmentationYou Zhou, Lijiang Chen, Shuchang Lyu et al.
Federated learning enables collaborative training of machine learning models among different clients while ensuring data privacy, emerging as the mainstream for breaking data silos in the healthcare domain. However, the imbalance of medical resources, data corruption or improper data preservation may lead to a situation where different clients possess medical images of different modality. This heterogeneity poses a significant challenge for cross-domain medical image segmentation within the federated learning framework. To address this challenge, we propose a new Federated Domain Adaptation (FedDA) segmentation training framework. Specifically, we propose a feature-level adversarial learning among clients by aligning feature maps across clients through embedding an adversarial training mechanism. This design can enhance the model's generalization on multiple domains and alleviate the negative impact from domain-shift. Comprehensive experiments on three medical image datasets demonstrate that our proposed FedDA substantially achieves cross-domain federated aggregation, endowing single modality client with cross-modality processing capabilities, and consistently delivers robust performance compared to state-of-the-art federated aggregation algorithms in objective and subjective assessment. Our code are available at https://github.com/GGbond-study/FedDA.

Deep Learning Based Domain Adaptation Methods in Remote Sensing: A Comprehensive SurveyShuchang Lyu, Qi Zhao, Zheng Zhou et al.
Domain adaptation is a crucial and increasingly important task in remote sensing, aiming to transfer knowledge from a source domain a differently distributed target domain. It has broad applications across various real-world applications, including remote sensing element interpretation, ecological environment monitoring, and urban/rural planning. However, domain adaptation in remote sensing poses significant challenges due to differences in data, such as variations in ground sampling distance, imaging modes from various sensors, geographical landscapes, and environmental conditions. In recent years, deep learning has emerged as a powerful tool for feature representation and cross-domain knowledge transfer, leading to widespread adoption in remote sensing tasks. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of significant advancements in deep learning based domain adaptation for remote sensing. We first introduce the preliminary knowledge to clarify key concepts, mathematical notations, and the taxonomy of methodologies. We then organize existing algorithms from multiple perspectives, including task categorization, input mode, supervision paradigm, and algorithmic granularity, providing readers with a structured understanding of the field. Next, we review widely used datasets and summarize the performance of state-of-the-art methods to provide an overview of current progress. We also identify open challenges and potential directions to guide future research in domain adaptation for remote sensing. Compared to previous surveys, this work addresses a broader range of domain adaptation tasks in remote sensing, rather than concentrating on a few subfields. It also presents a systematic taxonomy, providing a more comprehensive and organized understanding of the field. As a whole, this survey can inspire the research community, foster understanding, and guide future work in the field.

Triple M: A Practical Text-to-speech Synthesis System With Multi-guidance Attention And Multi-band Multi-time LPCNetShilun Lin, Fenglong Xie, Li Meng et al.
In this work, a robust and efficient text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis system named Triple M is proposed for large-scale online application. The key components of Triple M are: 1) A sequence-to-sequence model adopts a novel multi-guidance attention to transfer complementary advantages from guiding attention mechanisms to the basic attention mechanism without in-domain performance loss and online service modification. Compared with single attention mechanism, multi-guidance attention not only brings better naturalness to long sentence synthesis, but also reduces the word error rate by 26.8%. 2) A new efficient multi-band multi-time vocoder framework, which reduces the computational complexity from 2.8 to 1.0 GFLOP and speeds up LPCNet by 2.75x on a single CPU.
