3D Matting: A Benchmark Study on Soft Segmentation Method for Pulmonary Nodules Applied in Computed TomographyLin Wang, Xiufen Ye, Donghao Zhang et al.
Usually, lesions are not isolated but are associated with the surrounding tissues. For example, the growth of a tumour can depend on or infiltrate into the surrounding tissues. Due to the pathological nature of the lesions, it is challenging to distinguish their boundaries in medical imaging. However, these uncertain regions may contain diagnostic information. Therefore, the simple binarization of lesions by traditional binary segmentation can result in the loss of diagnostic information. In this work, we introduce the image matting into the 3D scenes and use the alpha matte, i.e., a soft mask, to describe lesions in a 3D medical image. The traditional soft mask acted as a training trick to compensate for the easily mislabelled or under-labelled ambiguous regions. In contrast, 3D matting uses soft segmentation to characterize the uncertain regions more finely, which means that it retains more structural information for subsequent diagnosis and treatment. The current study of image matting methods in 3D is limited. To address this issue, we conduct a comprehensive study of 3D matting, including both traditional and deep-learning-based methods. We adapt four state-of-the-art 2D image matting algorithms to 3D scenes and further customize the methods for CT images to calibrate the alpha matte with the radiodensity. Moreover, we propose the first end-to-end deep 3D matting network and implement a solid 3D medical image matting benchmark. Its efficient counterparts are also proposed to achieve a good performance-computation balance. Furthermore, there is no high-quality annotated dataset related to 3D matting, slowing down the development of data-driven deep-learning-based methods. To address this issue, we construct the first 3D medical matting dataset. The validity of the dataset was verified through clinicians' assessments and downstream experiments.
Towards Reliable Advertising Image Generation Using Human FeedbackZhenbang Du, Wei Feng, Haohan Wang et al.
In the e-commerce realm, compelling advertising images are pivotal for attracting customer attention. While generative models automate image generation, they often produce substandard images that may mislead customers and require significant labor costs to inspect. This paper delves into increasing the rate of available generated images. We first introduce a multi-modal Reliable Feedback Network (RFNet) to automatically inspect the generated images. Combining the RFNet into a recurrent process, Recurrent Generation, results in a higher number of available advertising images. To further enhance production efficiency, we fine-tune diffusion models with an innovative Consistent Condition regularization utilizing the feedback from RFNet (RFFT). This results in a remarkable increase in the available rate of generated images, reducing the number of attempts in Recurrent Generation, and providing a highly efficient production process without sacrificing visual appeal. We also construct a Reliable Feedback 1 Million (RF1M) dataset which comprises over one million generated advertising images annotated by human, which helps to train RFNet to accurately assess the availability of generated images and faithfully reflect the human feedback. Generally speaking, our approach offers a reliable solution for advertising image generation.
CTR-Driven Advertising Image Generation with Multimodal Large Language ModelsXingye Chen, Wei Feng, Zhenbang Du et al.
In web data, advertising images are crucial for capturing user attention and improving advertising effectiveness. Most existing methods generate background for products primarily focus on the aesthetic quality, which may fail to achieve satisfactory online performance. To address this limitation, we explore the use of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) for generating advertising images by optimizing for Click-Through Rate (CTR) as the primary objective. Firstly, we build targeted pre-training tasks, and leverage a large-scale e-commerce multimodal dataset to equip MLLMs with initial capabilities for advertising image generation tasks. To further improve the CTR of generated images, we propose a novel reward model to fine-tune pre-trained MLLMs through Reinforcement Learning (RL), which can jointly utilize multimodal features and accurately reflect user click preferences. Meanwhile, a product-centric preference optimization strategy is developed to ensure that the generated background content aligns with the product characteristics after fine-tuning, enhancing the overall relevance and effectiveness of the advertising images. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in both online and offline metrics. Our code and pre-trained models are publicly available at: https://github.com/Chenguoz/CAIG.
MultiLingPoT: Enhancing Mathematical Reasoning with Multilingual Program Fine-tuningNianqi Li, Zujie Liang, Siyu Yuan et al.
Program-of-Thought (PoT), which aims to use programming language instead of natural language as an intermediate step in reasoning, is an important way for LLMs to solve mathematical problems. Since different programming languages excel in different areas, it is natural to use the most suitable language for solving specific problems. However, current PoT research only focuses on single language PoT, ignoring the differences between different programming languages. Therefore, this paper proposes an multilingual program reasoning method, MultiLingPoT. This method allows the model to answer questions using multiple programming languages by fine-tuning on multilingual data. Additionally, prior and posterior hybrid methods are used to help the model select the most suitable language for each problem. Our experimental results show that the training of MultiLingPoT improves each program's mathematical reasoning by about 2.5\%. Moreover, with proper mixing, the performance of MultiLingPoT can be further improved, achieving a 6\% increase compared to the single-language PoT with the data augmentation.Resources of this paper can be found at https://github.com/Nianqi-Li/MultiLingPoT.

Planning and Rendering: Towards Product Poster Generation with Diffusion ModelsZhaochen Li, Fengheng Li, Wei Feng et al.
Product poster generation significantly optimizes design efficiency and reduces production costs. Prevailing methods predominantly rely on image-inpainting methods to generate clean background images for given products. Subsequently, poster layout generation methods are employed to produce corresponding layout results. However, the background images may not be suitable for accommodating textual content due to their complexity, and the fixed location of products limits the diversity of layout results. To alleviate these issues, we propose a novel product poster generation framework based on diffusion models named P\&R. The P\&R draws inspiration from the workflow of designers in creating posters, which consists of two stages: Planning and Rendering. At the planning stage, we propose a PlanNet to generate the layout of the product and other visual components considering both the appearance features of the product and semantic features of the text, which improves the diversity and rationality of the layouts. At the rendering stage, we propose a RenderNet to generate the background for the product while considering the generated layout, where a spatial fusion module is introduced to fuse the layout of different visual components. To foster the advancement of this field, we propose the first product poster generation dataset PPG30k, comprising 30k exquisite product poster images along with comprehensive image and text annotations. Our method outperforms the state-of-the-art product poster generation methods on PPG30k. The PPG30k will be released soon.

Large Model Enabled Embodied Intelligence for 6G Integrated Perception, Communication, and Computation NetworkZhuoran Li, Zhen Gao, Xinhua Liu et al.
The advent of sixth-generation (6G) places intelligence at the core of wireless architecture, fusing perception, communication, and computation into a single closed-loop. This paper argues that large artificial intelligence models (LAMs) can endow base stations with perception, reasoning, and acting capabilities, thus transforming them into intelligent base station agents (IBSAs). We first review the historical evolution of BSs from single-functional analog infrastructure to distributed, software-defined, and finally LAM-empowered IBSA, highlighting the accompanying changes in architecture, hardware platforms, and deployment. We then present an IBSA architecture that couples a perception-cognition-execution pipeline with cloud-edge-end collaboration and parameter-efficient adaptation. Subsequently,we study two representative scenarios: (i) cooperative vehicle-road perception for autonomous driving, and (ii) ubiquitous base station support for low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicle safety monitoring and response against unauthorized drones. On this basis, we analyze key enabling technologies spanning LAM design and training, efficient edge-cloud inference, multi-modal perception and actuation, as well as trustworthy security and governance. We further propose a holistic evaluation framework and benchmark considerations that jointly cover communication performance, perception accuracy, decision-making reliability, safety, and energy efficiency. Finally, we distill open challenges on benchmarks, continual adaptation, trustworthy decision-making, and standardization. Together, this work positions LAM-enabled IBSAs as a practical path toward integrated perception, communication, and computation native, safety-critical 6G systems.

Twitter Bot Detection Using Bidirectional Long Short-term Memory Neural Networks and Word EmbeddingsFeng Wei, Uyen Trang Nguyen
Twitter is a web application playing dual roles of online social networking and micro-blogging. The popularity and open structure of Twitter have attracted a large number of automated programs, known as bots. Legitimate bots generate a large amount of benign contextual content, i.e., tweets delivering news and updating feeds, while malicious bots spread spam or malicious contents. To assist human users in identifying who they are interacting with, this paper focuses on the classification of human and spambot accounts on Twitter, by employing recurrent neural networks, specifically bidirectional Long Short-term Memory (BiLSTM), to efficiently capture features across tweets. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first that develops a recurrent neural model with word embeddings to distinguish Twitter bots from human accounts, that requires no prior knowledge or assumption about users' profiles, friendship networks, or historical behavior on the target account. Moreover, our model does not require any handcrafted features. The preliminary simulation results are very encouraging. Experiments on the cresci-2017 dataset show that our approach can achieve competitive performance compared with existing state-of-the-art bot detection systems.

Dual-FOFE-net Neural Models for Entity Linking with PageRankFeng Wei, Uyen Trang Nguyen, Hui Jiang
This paper presents a simple and computationally efficient approach for entity linking (EL), compared with recurrent neural networks (RNNs) or convolutional neural networks (CNNs), by making use of feedforward neural networks (FFNNs) and the recent dual fixed-size ordinally forgetting encoding (dual-FOFE) method to fully encode the sentence fragment and its left/right contexts into a fixed-size representation. Furthermore, in this work, we propose to incorporate PageRank based distillation in our candidate generation module. Our neural linking models consist of three parts: a PageRank based candidate generation module, a dual-FOFE-net neural ranking model and a simple NIL entity clustering system. Experimental results have shown that our proposed neural linking models achieved higher EL accuracy than state-of-the-art models on the TAC2016 task dataset over the baseline system, without requiring any in-house data or complicated handcrafted features. Moreover, it achieves a competitive accuracy on the TAC2017 task dataset.
