3D-QueryIS: A Query-based Framework for 3D Instance SegmentationJiaheng Liu, Tong He, Honghui Yang et al.
Previous top-performing methods for 3D instance segmentation often maintain inter-task dependencies and the tendency towards a lack of robustness. Besides, inevitable variations of different datasets make these methods become particularly sensitive to hyper-parameter values and manifest poor generalization capability. In this paper, we address the aforementioned challenges by proposing a novel query-based method, termed as 3D-QueryIS, which is detector-free, semantic segmentation-free, and cluster-free. Specifically, we propose to generate representative points in an implicit manner, and use them together with the initial queries to generate the informative instance queries. Then, the class and binary instance mask predictions can be produced by simply applying MLP layers on top of the instance queries and the extracted point cloud embeddings. Thus, our 3D-QueryIS is free from the accumulated errors caused by the inter-task dependencies. Extensive experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed 3D-QueryIS method.
SYENet: A Simple Yet Effective Network for Multiple Low-Level Vision Tasks with Real-time Performance on Mobile DeviceWeiran Gou, Ziyao Yi, Yan Xiang et al.
With the rapid development of AI hardware accelerators, applying deep learning-based algorithms to solve various low-level vision tasks on mobile devices has gradually become possible. However, two main problems still need to be solved: task-specific algorithms make it difficult to integrate them into a single neural network architecture, and large amounts of parameters make it difficult to achieve real-time inference. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel network, SYENet, with only $~$6K parameters, to handle multiple low-level vision tasks on mobile devices in a real-time manner. The SYENet consists of two asymmetrical branches with simple building blocks. To effectively connect the results by asymmetrical branches, a Quadratic Connection Unit(QCU) is proposed. Furthermore, to improve performance, a new Outlier-Aware Loss is proposed to process the image. The proposed method proves its superior performance with the best PSNR as compared with other networks in real-time applications such as Image Signal Processing(ISP), Low-Light Enhancement(LLE), and Super-Resolution(SR) with 2K60FPS throughput on Qualcomm 8 Gen 1 mobile SoC(System-on-Chip). Particularly, for ISP task, SYENet got the highest score in MAI 2022 Learned Smartphone ISP challenge.

Adaptive Channel Encoding for Point Cloud AnalysisGuoquan Xu, Hezhi Cao, Yifan Zhang et al.
Attention mechanism plays a more and more important role in point cloud analysis and channel attention is one of the hotspots. With so much channel information, it is difficult for neural networks to screen useful channel information. Thus, an adaptive channel encoding mechanism is proposed to capture channel relationships in this paper. It improves the quality of the representation generated by the network by explicitly encoding the interdependence between the channels of its features. Specifically, a channel-wise convolution (Channel-Conv) is proposed to adaptively learn the relationship between coordinates and features, so as to encode the channel. Different from the popular attention weight schemes, the Channel-Conv proposed in this paper realizes adaptability in convolution operation, rather than simply assigning different weights for channels. Extensive experiments on existing benchmarks verify our method achieves the state of the arts.
