RoCoTex: A Robust Method for Consistent Texture Synthesis with Diffusion ModelsJangyeong Kim, Donggoo Kang, Junyoung Choi et al.
Text-to-texture generation has recently attracted increasing attention, but existing methods often suffer from the problems of view inconsistencies, apparent seams, and misalignment between textures and the underlying mesh. In this paper, we propose a robust text-to-texture method for generating consistent and seamless textures that are well aligned with the mesh. Our method leverages state-of-the-art 2D diffusion models, including SDXL and multiple ControlNets, to capture structural features and intricate details in the generated textures. The method also employs a symmetrical view synthesis strategy combined with regional prompts for enhancing view consistency. Additionally, it introduces novel texture blending and soft-inpainting techniques, which significantly reduce the seam regions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods.

Explore, Select, Derive, and Recall: Augmenting LLM with Human-like Memory for Mobile Task AutomationSunjae Lee, Junyoung Choi, Jungjae Lee et al.
The advent of large language models (LLMs) has opened up new opportunities in the field of mobile task automation. Their superior language understanding and reasoning capabilities allow users to automate complex and repetitive tasks. However, due to the inherent unreliability and high operational cost of LLMs, their practical applicability is quite limited. To address these issues, this paper introduces MobileGPT, an innovative LLM-based mobile task automator equipped with a human-like app memory. MobileGPT emulates the cognitive process of humans interacting with a mobile app -- explore, select, derive, and recall. This approach allows for a more precise and efficient learning of a task's procedure by breaking it down into smaller, modular sub-tasks that can be re-used, re-arranged, and adapted for various objectives. We implement MobileGPT using online LLMs services (GPT-3.5 and GPT-4) and evaluate its performance on a dataset of 185 tasks across 18 mobile apps. The results indicate that MobileGPT can automate and learn new tasks with 82.7% accuracy, and is able to adapt them to different contexts with near perfect (98.75%) accuracy while reducing both latency and cost by 62.5% and 68.8%, respectively, compared to the GPT-4 powered baseline.

MitoVis: A Visually-guided Interactive Intelligent System for Neuronal Mitochondria AnalysisJunYoung Choi, Hakjun Lee, Suyeon Kim et al.
Neurons have a polarized structure, including dendrites and axons, and compartment-specific functions can be affected by dwelling mitochondria. It is known that the morphology of mitochondria is closely related to the functions of neurons and neurodegenerative diseases. Even though several deep learning methods have been developed to automatically analyze the morphology of mitochondria, the application of existing methods to actual analysis still encounters several difficulties. Since the performance of pre-trained deep learning model may vary depending on the target data, re-training of the model is often required. Besides, even though deep learning has shown superior performance under a constrained setup, there are always errors that need to be corrected by humans in real analysis. To address these issues, we introduce MitoVis, a novel visualization system for end-to-end data processing and interactive analysis of the morphology of neuronal mitochondria. MitoVis enables interactive fine-tuning of a pre-trained neural network model without the domain knowledge of machine learning, which allows neuroscientists to easily leverage deep learning in their research. MitoVis also provides novel visual guides and interactive proofreading functions so that the users can quickly identify and correct errors in the result with minimal effort. We demonstrate the usefulness and efficacy of the system via a case study conducted by a neuroscientist on a real analysis scenario. The result shows that MitoVis allows up to 15x faster analysis with similar accuracy compared to the fully manual analysis method.

Task-oriented Design through Deep Reinforcement LearningJunyoung Choi, Minsung Hyun, Nojun Kwak
We propose a new low-cost machine-learning-based methodology which assists designers in reducing the gap between the problem and the solution in the design process. Our work applies reinforcement learning (RL) to find the optimal task-oriented design solution through the construction of the design action for each task. For this task-oriented design, the 3D design process in product design is assigned to an action space in Deep RL, and the desired 3D model is obtained by training each design action according to the task. By showing that this method achieves satisfactory design even when applied to a task pursuing multiple goals, we suggest the direction of how machine learning can contribute to the design process. Also, we have validated with product designers that this methodology can assist the creative part in the process of design.

Butterfly Effect: Bidirectional Control of Classification Performance by Small Additive PerturbationYoungJoon Yoo, Seonguk Park, Junyoung Choi et al.
This paper proposes a new algorithm for controlling classification results by generating a small additive perturbation without changing the classifier network. Our work is inspired by existing works generating adversarial perturbation that worsens classification performance. In contrast to the existing methods, our work aims to generate perturbations that can enhance overall classification performance. To solve this performance enhancement problem, we newly propose a perturbation generation network (PGN) influenced by the adversarial learning strategy. In our problem, the information in a large external dataset is summarized by a small additive perturbation, which helps to improve the performance of the classifier trained with the target dataset. In addition to this performance enhancement problem, we show that the proposed PGN can be adopted to solve the classical adversarial problem without utilizing the information on the target classifier. The mentioned characteristics of our method are verified through extensive experiments on publicly available visual datasets.
