Group DETR: Fast DETR Training with Group-Wise One-to-Many Assignment

Detection transformer (DETR) relies on one-to-one assignment, assigning one ground-truth object to one prediction, for end-to-end detection without NMS post-processing. It is known that one-to-many assignment, assigning one ground-truth object to multiple predictions, succeeds in detection methods such as Faster R-CNN and FCOS. While the naive one-to-many assignment does not work for DETR, and it remains challenging to apply one-to-many assignment for DETR training. In this paper, we introduce Group DETR, a simple yet efficient DETR training approach that introduces a group-wise way for one-to-many assignment. This approach involves using multiple groups of object queries, conducting one-to-one assignment within each group, and performing decoder self-attention separately. It resembles data augmentation with automatically-learned object query augmentation. It is also equivalent to simultaneously training parameter-sharing networks of the same architecture, introducing more supervision and thus improving DETR training. The inference process is the same as DETR trained normally and only needs one group of queries without any architecture modification. Group DETR is versatile and is applicable to various DETR variants. The experiments show that Group DETR significantly speeds up the training convergence and improves the performance of various DETR-based models. MixFormer: Mixing Features across Windows and Dimensions

While local-window self-attention performs notably in vision tasks, it suffers from limited receptive field and weak modeling capability issues. This is mainly because it performs self-attention within non-overlapped windows and shares weights on the channel dimension. We propose MixFormer to find a solution. First, we combine local-window self-attention with depth-wise convolution in a parallel design, modeling cross-window connections to enlarge the receptive fields. Second, we propose bi-directional interactions across branches to provide complementary clues in the channel and spatial dimensions. These two designs are integrated to achieve efficient feature mixing among windows and dimensions. Our MixFormer provides competitive results on image classification with EfficientNet and shows better results than RegNet and Swin Transformer. Performance in downstream tasks outperforms its alternatives by significant margins with less computational costs in 5 dense prediction tasks on MS COCO, ADE20k, and LVIS. Singular Value Fine-tuning: Few-shot Segmentation requires Few-parameters Fine-tuning

Freezing the pre-trained backbone has become a standard paradigm to avoid overfitting in few-shot segmentation. In this paper, we rethink the paradigm and explore a new regime: {\em fine-tuning a small part of parameters in the backbone}. We present a solution to overcome the overfitting problem, leading to better model generalization on learning novel classes. Our method decomposes backbone parameters into three successive matrices via the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), then {\em only fine-tunes the singular values} and keeps others frozen. The above design allows the model to adjust feature representations on novel classes while maintaining semantic clues within the pre-trained backbone. We evaluate our {\em Singular Value Fine-tuning (SVF)} approach on various few-shot segmentation methods with different backbones. We achieve state-of-the-art results on both Pascal-5$^i$ and COCO-20$^i$ across 1-shot and 5-shot settings. Hopefully, this simple baseline will encourage researchers to rethink the role of backbone fine-tuning in few-shot settings. Group Pose: A Simple Baseline for End-to-End Multi-person Pose Estimation

In this paper, we study the problem of end-to-end multi-person pose estimation. State-of-the-art solutions adopt the DETR-like framework, and mainly develop the complex decoder, e.g., regarding pose estimation as keypoint box detection and combining with human detection in ED-Pose, hierarchically predicting with pose decoder and joint (keypoint) decoder in PETR. We present a simple yet effective transformer approach, named Group Pose. We simply regard $K$-keypoint pose estimation as predicting a set of $N\times K$ keypoint positions, each from a keypoint query, as well as representing each pose with an instance query for scoring $N$ pose predictions. Motivated by the intuition that the interaction, among across-instance queries of different types, is not directly helpful, we make a simple modification to decoder self-attention. We replace single self-attention over all the $N\times(K+1)$ queries with two subsequent group self-attentions: (i) $N$ within-instance self-attention, with each over $K$ keypoint queries and one instance query, and (ii) $(K+1)$ same-type across-instance self-attention, each over $N$ queries of the same type. The resulting decoder removes the interaction among across-instance type-different queries, easing the optimization and thus improving the performance. Experimental results on MS COCO and CrowdPose show that our approach without human box supervision is superior to previous methods with complex decoders, and even is slightly better than ED-Pose that uses human box supervision. $\href{https://github.com/Michel-liu/GroupPose-Paddle}{\rm Paddle}$ and $\href{https://github.com/Michel-liu/GroupPose}{\rm PyTorch}$ code are available.

Unified Frequency-Assisted Transformer Framework for Detecting and Grounding Multi-Modal Manipulation

Detecting and grounding multi-modal media manipulation (DGM^4) has become increasingly crucial due to the widespread dissemination of face forgery and text misinformation. In this paper, we present the Unified Frequency-Assisted transFormer framework, named UFAFormer, to address the DGM^4 problem. Unlike previous state-of-the-art methods that solely focus on the image (RGB) domain to describe visual forgery features, we additionally introduce the frequency domain as a complementary viewpoint. By leveraging the discrete wavelet transform, we decompose images into several frequency sub-bands, capturing rich face forgery artifacts. Then, our proposed frequency encoder, incorporating intra-band and inter-band self-attentions, explicitly aggregates forgery features within and across diverse sub-bands. Moreover, to address the semantic conflicts between image and frequency domains, the forgery-aware mutual module is developed to further enable the effective interaction of disparate image and frequency features, resulting in aligned and comprehensive visual forgery representations. Finally, based on visual and textual forgery features, we propose a unified decoder that comprises two symmetric cross-modal interaction modules responsible for gathering modality-specific forgery information, along with a fusing interaction module for aggregation of both modalities. The proposed unified decoder formulates our UFAFormer as a unified framework, ultimately simplifying the overall architecture and facilitating the optimization process. Experimental results on the DGM^4 dataset, containing several perturbations, demonstrate the superior performance of our framework compared to previous methods, setting a new benchmark in the field.

Exploring Effective Factors for Improving Visual In-Context Learning

The In-Context Learning (ICL) is to understand a new task via a few demonstrations (aka. prompt) and predict new inputs without tuning the models. While it has been widely studied in NLP, it is still a relatively new area of research in computer vision. To reveal the factors influencing the performance of visual in-context learning, this paper shows that prompt selection and prompt fusion are two major factors that have a direct impact on the inference performance of visual context learning. Prompt selection is the process of identifying the most appropriate prompt or example to help the model understand new tasks. This is important because providing the model with relevant prompts can help it learn more effectively and efficiently. Prompt fusion involves combining knowledge from different positions within the large-scale visual model. By doing this, the model can leverage the diverse knowledge stored in different parts of the model to improve its performance on new tasks. Based these findings, we propose a simple framework prompt-SelF for visual in-context learning. Specifically, we first use the pixel-level retrieval method to select a suitable prompt, and then use different prompt fusion methods to activate all the knowledge stored in the large-scale model, and finally ensemble the prediction results obtained from different prompt fusion methods to obtain the final prediction results. And we conduct extensive experiments on single-object segmentation and detection tasks to demonstrate the effectiveness of prompt-SelF. Remarkably, the prompt-SelF has outperformed OSLSM based meta-learning in 1-shot segmentation for the first time. This indicated the great potential of visual in-context learning. Construction and Applications of Billion-Scale Pre-Trained Multimodal Business Knowledge Graph

Business Knowledge Graphs (KGs) are important to many enterprises today, providing factual knowledge and structured data that steer many products and make them more intelligent. Despite their promising benefits, building business KG necessitates solving prohibitive issues of deficient structure and multiple modalities. In this paper, we advance the understanding of the practical challenges related to building KG in non-trivial real-world systems. We introduce the process of building an open business knowledge graph (OpenBG) derived from a well-known enterprise, Alibaba Group. Specifically, we define a core ontology to cover various abstract products and consumption demands, with fine-grained taxonomy and multimodal facts in deployed applications. OpenBG is an open business KG of unprecedented scale: 2.6 billion triples with more than 88 million entities covering over 1 million core classes/concepts and 2,681 types of relations. We release all the open resources (OpenBG benchmarks) derived from it for the community and report experimental results of KG-centric tasks. We also run up an online competition based on OpenBG benchmarks, and has attracted thousands of teams. We further pre-train OpenBG and apply it to many KG- enhanced downstream tasks in business scenarios, demonstrating the effectiveness of billion-scale multimodal knowledge for e-commerce. SelfMix: Robust Learning Against Textual Label Noise with Self-Mixup Training

The conventional success of textual classification relies on annotated data, and the new paradigm of pre-trained language models (PLMs) still requires a few labeled data for downstream tasks. However, in real-world applications, label noise inevitably exists in training data, damaging the effectiveness, robustness, and generalization of the models constructed on such data. Recently, remarkable achievements have been made to mitigate this dilemma in visual data, while only a few explore textual data. To fill this gap, we present SelfMix, a simple yet effective method, to handle label noise in text classification tasks. SelfMix uses the Gaussian Mixture Model to separate samples and leverages semi-supervised learning. Unlike previous works requiring multiple models, our method utilizes the dropout mechanism on a single model to reduce the confirmation bias in self-training and introduces a textual-level mixup training strategy. Experimental results on three text classification benchmarks with different types of text show that the performance of our proposed method outperforms these strong baselines designed for both textual and visual data under different noise ratios and noise types. CAE v2: Context Autoencoder with CLIP Target

Masked image modeling (MIM) learns visual representation by masking and reconstructing image patches. Applying the reconstruction supervision on the CLIP representation has been proven effective for MIM. However, it is still under-explored how CLIP supervision in MIM influences performance. To investigate strategies for refining the CLIP-targeted MIM, we study two critical elements in MIM, i.e., the supervision position and the mask ratio, and reveal two interesting perspectives, relying on our developed simple pipeline, context autodecoder with CLIP target (CAE v2). Firstly, we observe that the supervision on visible patches achieves remarkable performance, even better than that on masked patches, where the latter is the standard format in the existing MIM methods. Secondly, the optimal mask ratio positively correlates to the model size. That is to say, the smaller the model, the lower the mask ratio needs to be. Driven by these two discoveries, our simple and concise approach CAE v2 achieves superior performance on a series of downstream tasks. For example, a vanilla ViT-Large model achieves 81.7% and 86.7% top-1 accuracy on linear probing and fine-tuning on ImageNet-1K, and 55.9% mIoU on semantic segmentation on ADE20K with the pre-training for 300 epochs. We hope our findings can be helpful guidelines for the pre-training in the MIM area, especially for the small-scale models.

Enhancing Your Trained DETRs with Box Refinement

We present a conceptually simple, efficient, and general framework for localization problems in DETR-like models. We add plugins to well-trained models instead of inefficiently designing new models and training them from scratch. The method, called RefineBox, refines the outputs of DETR-like detectors by lightweight refinement networks. RefineBox is easy to implement and train as it only leverages the features and predicted boxes from the well-trained detection models. Our method is also efficient as we freeze the trained detectors during training. In addition, we can easily generalize RefineBox to various trained detection models without any modification. We conduct experiments on COCO and LVIS $1.0$. Experimental results indicate the effectiveness of our RefineBox for DETR and its representative variants (Figure 1). For example, the performance gains for DETR, Conditinal-DETR, DAB-DETR, and DN-DETR are 2.4 AP, 2.5 AP, 1.9 AP, and 1.6 AP, respectively. We hope our work will bring the attention of the detection community to the localization bottleneck of current DETR-like models and highlight the potential of the RefineBox framework. Commonsense Knowledge Salience Evaluation with a Benchmark Dataset in E-commerce

In e-commerce, the salience of commonsense knowledge (CSK) is beneficial for widespread applications such as product search and recommendation. For example, when users search for ``running'' in e-commerce, they would like to find products highly related to running, such as ``running shoes'' rather than ``shoes''. Nevertheless, many existing CSK collections rank statements solely by confidence scores, and there is no information about which ones are salient from a human perspective. In this work, we define the task of supervised salience evaluation, where given a CSK triple, the model is required to learn whether the triple is salient or not. In addition to formulating the new task, we also release a new Benchmark dataset of Salience Evaluation in E-commerce (BSEE) and hope to promote related research on commonsense knowledge salience evaluation. We conduct experiments in the dataset with several representative baseline models. The experimental results show that salience evaluation is a challenging task where models perform poorly on our evaluation set. We further propose a simple but effective approach, PMI-tuning, which shows promise for solving this novel problem. Code is available in \url{https://github.com/OpenBGBenchmark/OpenBG-CSK.

Improving Transferability for Domain Adaptive Detection Transformers

DETR-style detectors stand out amongst in-domain scenarios, but their properties in domain shift settings are under-explored. This paper aims to build a simple but effective baseline with a DETR-style detector on domain shift settings based on two findings. For one, mitigating the domain shift on the backbone and the decoder output features excels in getting favorable results. For another, advanced domain alignment methods in both parts further enhance the performance. Thus, we propose the Object-Aware Alignment (OAA) module and the Optimal Transport based Alignment (OTA) module to achieve comprehensive domain alignment on the outputs of the backbone and the detector. The OAA module aligns the foreground regions identified by pseudo-labels in the backbone outputs, leading to domain-invariant based features. The OTA module utilizes sliced Wasserstein distance to maximize the retention of location information while minimizing the domain gap in the decoder outputs. We implement the findings and the alignment modules into our adaptation method, and it benchmarks the DETR-style detector on the domain shift settings. Experiments on various domain adaptive scenarios validate the effectiveness of our method.

Group DETR v2: Strong Object Detector with Encoder-Decoder Pretraining

We present a strong object detector with encoder-decoder pretraining and finetuning. Our method, called Group DETR v2, is built upon a vision transformer encoder ViT-Huge~\cite{dosovitskiy2020image}, a DETR variant DINO~\cite{zhang2022dino}, and an efficient DETR training method Group DETR~\cite{chen2022group}. The training process consists of self-supervised pretraining and finetuning a ViT-Huge encoder on ImageNet-1K, pretraining the detector on Object365, and finally finetuning it on COCO. DATE: Dual Assignment for End-to-End Fully Convolutional Object Detection

Fully convolutional detectors discard the one-to-many assignment and adopt a one-to-one assigning strategy to achieve end-to-end detection but suffer from the slow convergence issue. In this paper, we revisit these two assignment methods and find that bringing one-to-many assignment back to end-to-end fully convolutional detectors helps with model convergence. Based on this observation, we propose {\em \textbf{D}ual \textbf{A}ssignment} for end-to-end fully convolutional de\textbf{TE}ction (DATE). Our method constructs two branches with one-to-many and one-to-one assignment during training and speeds up the convergence of the one-to-one assignment branch by providing more supervision signals. DATE only uses the branch with the one-to-one matching strategy for model inference, which doesn't bring inference overhead. Experimental results show that Dual Assignment gives nontrivial improvements and speeds up model convergence upon OneNet and DeFCN. Code: https://github.com/YiqunChen1999/date.

Explainable Forensics of Manipulated Segments in Untrimmed Long Videos

The rapid advancement of AI-driven video generation has transformed content creation, while simultaneously increasing the risk of misinformation through localized manipulations in long-form videos. Existing video forensic methods predominantly operate on short, independent clips, and thus fail to capture realistic scenarios where AI-generated content is sparsely embedded within otherwise authentic footage. To bridge this gap, we formulate the task of Temporal AI-Generated Segment Localization and Explanation, which targets authenticity detection, temporal localization, and interpretable analysis of manipulated segments in untrimmed long videos. We further introduce TASLE, a large-scale benchmark comprising 12,472 untrimmed videos with diverse manipulation patterns and rich annotation signals, including temporal boundaries, authenticity labels, and segment-level rationales. In addition, we propose MSLoc, a coarse-to-fine forensic baseline that combines a boundary-sensitive proposal generation module for efficient long-video scanning with an MLLM-based refinement module for precise boundary localization and interpretable reasoning. Experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed baseline, highlighting the importance of segment-level explainable forensics for long-form AI-generated video analysis. Detect by Yourself: Self-Designing Agentic Workflows for Few-Shot Graph Anomaly Detection

Graph anomaly detection aims to identify anomaly nodes in attributed graphs and plays an important role in real-world applications. However, existing graph anomaly detection methods still face two key challenges: 1) fixed pipelines, which restrict their adaptability across different graph tasks under limited supervision; 2) weak evidence, which prevents them from explicitly incorporating contextual and structural anomaly signals into the detection process. In this paper, we propose a novel framework, self-designing agentic workflows for few-shot graph anomaly detection (SignGAD). Specifically, we propose a novel paradigm that reformulates graph anomaly detection task from training a fixed anomaly detector to designing task-conditioned detection workflows. By constructing detection workflows, SignGAD selects suitable graph encodings and detector designs to exploit task-specific anomaly evidence. Meanwhile, we introduce a guarded final refit strategy to refine the selected workflow by calibrating refit acceptance, enhancing reliability under limited supervision. Extensive experiments conducted on several real-world datasets demonstrate that SignGAD achieves strong performance against state-of-the-art methods, highlighting its effectiveness on graph anomaly detection tasks.

SAM3-I: Segment Anything with Instructions

Segment Anything Model 3 (SAM3) has advanced open-vocabulary segmentation through promptable concept segmentation, allowing users to segment all instances corresponding to a given concept, typically specified with short noun-phrase (NP) prompts. While this marks the first integration of language-level concepts within the SAM family, real-world usage typically requires far richer expressions that include attributes, spatial relations, functionalities, actions, states, and even implicit reasoning over instances. Currently, SAM3 relies on external multi-modal agents to convert complex instructions into NPs and then conduct iterative mask filtering. However, these NP-level concepts remain overly coarse, often failing to precisely represent a specific instance. In this work, we present SAM3-I, an enhanced framework that unifies concept-level understanding and instruction-level reasoning within the SAM family. SAM3-I introduces an instruction-aware cascaded adaptation mechanism that progressively aligns expressive instruction semantics with SAM3's existing vision-language representations, enabling direct instruction-following segmentation without sacrificing its original concept-driven capabilities. Furthermore, we design a structured instruction taxonomy spanning concept, simple, and complex levels, and develop a scalable data engine to construct a dataset with diverse instruction-mask pairs. Experiments show that SAM3-I delivers appealing performance, demonstrating that SAM3 can be effectively extended to follow natural-language instructions while preserving its strong concept grounding. We open-source SAM3-I and provide practical fine-tuning workflows, enabling researchers to adapt it to domain-specific applications. The source code is available here.

OVLW-DETR: Open-Vocabulary Light-Weighted Detection Transformer

Open-vocabulary object detection focusing on detecting novel categories guided by natural language. In this report, we propose Open-Vocabulary Light-Weighted Detection Transformer (OVLW-DETR), a deployment friendly open-vocabulary detector with strong performance and low latency. Building upon OVLW-DETR, we provide an end-to-end training recipe that transferring knowledge from vision-language model (VLM) to object detector with simple alignment. We align detector with the text encoder from VLM by replacing the fixed classification layer weights in detector with the class-name embeddings extracted from the text encoder. Without additional fusing module, OVLW-DETR is flexible and deployment friendly, making it easier to implement and modulate. improving the efficiency of interleaved attention computation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is superior over existing real-time open-vocabulary detectors on standard Zero-Shot LVIS benchmark. Automated Quantification of Hyperreflective Foci in SD-OCT With Diabetic Retinopathy

The presence of hyperreflective foci (HFs) is related to retinal disease progression, and the quantity has proven to be a prognostic factor of visual and anatomical outcome in various retinal diseases. However, lack of efficient quantitative tools for evaluating the HFs has deprived ophthalmologist of assessing the volume of HFs. For this reason, we propose an automated quantification algorithm to segment and quantify HFs in spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). The proposed algorithm consists of two parallel processes namely: region of interest (ROI) generation and HFs estimation. To generate the ROI, we use morphological reconstruction to obtain the reconstructed image and histogram constructed for data distributions and clustering. In parallel, we estimate the HFs by extracting the extremal regions from the connected regions obtained from a component tree. Finally, both the ROI and the HFs estimation process are merged to obtain the segmented HFs. The proposed algorithm was tested on 40 3D SD-OCT volumes from 40 patients diagnosed with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), and diabetic macular edema (DME). The average dice similarity coefficient (DSC) and correlation coefficient (r) are 69.70%, 0.99 for NPDR, 70.31%, 0.99 for PDR, and 71.30%, 0.99 for DME, respectively. The proposed algorithm can provide ophthalmologist with good HFs quantitative information, such as volume, size, and location of the HFs.

Impedance Analysis of Modular Multilevel Converter Based on Harmonic State-Space Modeling Method

The small-signal impedance modeling of modular multilevel converter (MMC) is the key for analyzing resonance and stability of MMC-based ac power electronics systems. MMC is a converter system with a typical multi-frequency response due to its significant steady-state harmonic components in the arm currents, capacitor voltages, and control signals. Therefore, traditional small-signal modeling methods for 2-level voltage-source converters (VSCs) cannot be directly applied to the MMC. In this paper, the harmonic state-space (HSS) modeling approach is introduced to characterize the harmonic coupling behavior of the MMC. On this basis, the small-signal impedance models of the MMC are developed according to the harmonic linearization principle, which can include all the steady-state harmonic effects of the state variables, leading to the accurate impedance models. Furthermore, in order to reveal the impact of the internal dynamics and closed-loop control on the small-signal impedance of the MMC, three cases are considered in this paper, i.e., open-loop control, ac voltage closed-loop control, and circulating current closed-loop control. Finally, the analytical impedance models are verified by both simulation and experimental results.

Learn Single-horizon Disease Evolution for Predictive Generation of Post-therapeutic Neovascular Age-related Macular Degeneration

Most of the existing disease prediction methods in the field of medical image processing fall into two classes, namely image-to-category predictions and image-to-parameter predictions. Few works have focused on image-to-image predictions. Different from multi-horizon predictions in other fields, ophthalmologists prefer to show more confidence in single-horizon predictions due to the low tolerance of predictive risk. We propose a single-horizon disease evolution network (SHENet) to predictively generate post-therapeutic SD-OCT images by inputting pre-therapeutic SD-OCT images with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). In SHENet, a feature encoder converts the input SD-OCT images to deep features, then a graph evolution module predicts the process of disease evolution in high-dimensional latent space and outputs the predicted deep features, and lastly, feature decoder recovers the predicted deep features to SD-OCT images. We further propose an evolution reinforcement module to ensure the effectiveness of disease evolution learning and obtain realistic SD-OCT images by adversarial training. SHENet is validated on 383 SD-OCT cubes of 22 nAMD patients based on three well-designed schemes based on the quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Compared with other generative methods, the generative SD-OCT images of SHENet have the highest image quality. Besides, SHENet achieves the best structure protection and content prediction. Qualitative evaluations also demonstrate that SHENet has a better visual effect than other methods. SHENet can generate post-therapeutic SD-OCT images with both high prediction performance and good image quality, which has great potential to help ophthalmologists forecast the therapeutic effect of nAMD.

Towards Ground-truth-free Evaluation of Any Segmentation in Medical Images

We explore the feasibility and potential of building a ground-truth-free evaluation model to assess the quality of segmentations generated by the Segment Anything Model (SAM) and its variants in medical imaging. This evaluation model estimates segmentation quality scores by analyzing the coherence and consistency between the input images and their corresponding segmentation predictions. Based on prior research, we frame the task of training this model as a regression problem within a supervised learning framework, using Dice scores (and optionally other metrics) along with mean squared error to compute the training loss. The model is trained utilizing a large collection of public datasets of medical images with segmentation predictions from SAM and its variants. We name this model EvanySeg (Evaluation of Any Segmentation in Medical Images). Our exploration of convolution-based models (e.g., ResNet) and transformer-based models (e.g., ViT) suggested that ViT yields better performance for this task. EvanySeg can be employed for various tasks, including: (1) identifying poorly segmented samples by detecting low-percentile segmentation quality scores; (2) benchmarking segmentation models without ground truth by averaging quality scores across test samples; (3) alerting human experts to poor-quality segmentation predictions during human-AI collaboration by applying a threshold within the score space; and (4) selecting the best segmentation prediction for each test sample at test time when multiple segmentation models are available, by choosing the prediction with the highest quality score. Latent-WAM: Latent World Action Modeling for End-to-End Autonomous Driving

We introduce Latent-WAM, an efficient end-to-end autonomous driving framework that achieves strong trajectory planning through spatially-aware and dynamics-informed latent world representations. Existing world-model-based planners suffer from inadequately compressed representations, limited spatial understanding, and underutilized temporal dynamics, resulting in sub-optimal planning under constrained data and compute budgets. Latent-WAM addresses these limitations with two core modules: a Spatial-Aware Compressive World Encoder (SCWE) that distills geometric knowledge from a foundation model and compresses multi-view images into compact scene tokens via learnable queries, and a Dynamic Latent World Model (DLWM) that employs a causal Transformer to autoregressively predict future world status conditioned on historical visual and motion representations. Extensive experiments on NAVSIM v2 and HUGSIM demonstrate new state-of-the-art results: 89.3 EPDMS on NAVSIM v2 and 28.9 HD-Score on HUGSIM, surpassing the best prior perception-free method by 3.2 EPDMS with significantly less training data and a compact 104M-parameter model.

Label Adversarial Learning for Skeleton-level to Pixel-level Adjustable Vessel Segmentation

You can have your cake and eat it too. Microvessel segmentation in optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) images remains challenging. Skeleton-level segmentation shows clear topology but without diameter information, while pixel-level segmentation shows a clear caliber but low topology. To close this gap, we propose a novel label adversarial learning (LAL) for skeleton-level to pixel-level adjustable vessel segmentation. LAL mainly consists of two designs: a label adversarial loss and an embeddable adjustment layer. The label adversarial loss establishes an adversarial relationship between the two label supervisions, while the adjustment layer adjusts the network parameters to match the different adversarial weights. Such a design can efficiently capture the variation between the two supervisions, making the segmentation continuous and tunable. This continuous process allows us to recommend high-quality vessel segmentation with clear caliber and topology. Experimental results show that our results outperform manual annotations of current public datasets and conventional filtering effects. Furthermore, such a continuous process can also be used to generate an uncertainty map representing weak vessel boundaries and noise.

FullAnno: A Data Engine for Enhancing Image Comprehension of MLLMs

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have shown promise in a broad range of vision-language tasks with their strong reasoning and generalization capabilities. However, they heavily depend on high-quality data in the Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) phase. The existing approaches aim to curate high-quality data via GPT-4V, but they are not scalable due to the commercial nature of GPT-4V and the simplicity of the prompts used to instruct the model. To this end, we devised the FullAnno system, which is a data engine that can generate large-scale, high-quality, and fine-grained image annotations consisting of the category and position of objects, region descriptions, text information, as well as image dense captions. This engine is characterized by its cascade annotation process, which involves multiple expert models and employs rich prompts to instruct LLMs in generating dense image captions. We re-annotated the COCO and Visual Genome datasets using our FullAnno system, tripling the number of object annotations and increasing the length of the original image captions by a factor of 15. Experiments show that the regenerated annotation can significantly enhance the capabilities of LLaVA-v1.5 on several benchmarks. VRP-SAM: SAM with Visual Reference Prompt

In this paper, we propose a novel Visual Reference Prompt (VRP) encoder that empowers the Segment Anything Model (SAM) to utilize annotated reference images as prompts for segmentation, creating the VRP-SAM model. In essence, VRP-SAM can utilize annotated reference images to comprehend specific objects and perform segmentation of specific objects in target image. It is note that the VRP encoder can support a variety of annotation formats for reference images, including \textbf{point}, \textbf{box}, \textbf{scribble}, and \textbf{mask}. VRP-SAM achieves a breakthrough within the SAM framework by extending its versatility and applicability while preserving SAM's inherent strengths, thus enhancing user-friendliness. To enhance the generalization ability of VRP-SAM, the VRP encoder adopts a meta-learning strategy. To validate the effectiveness of VRP-SAM, we conducted extensive empirical studies on the Pascal and COCO datasets. Remarkably, VRP-SAM achieved state-of-the-art performance in visual reference segmentation with minimal learnable parameters. Furthermore, VRP-SAM demonstrates strong generalization capabilities, allowing it to perform segmentation of unseen objects and enabling cross-domain segmentation. TubiFM: Unified Item, Carousel, and Search Ranking for Streaming Discovery

Personalized discovery systems often train separate models for item ranking, carousel ranking, and search, even though these tasks expose complementary signals from the same viewer journey: watches shape carousel and item ranking, search queries reveal intent even when they do not lead to a catalog match, and watch history helps interpret search as rewatching, continuation, or new discovery. We introduce the user story, a serialized representation that turns a user's cross-surface history - attributes, sessions, watch events with surface and carousel context, and search events - into a single token sequence. By interleaving pretrained language tokens with domain-specific event tokens, user stories let heterogeneous recommendation and search tasks be expressed as prompted next-token prediction over a shared grammar. TubiFM is one instantiation of this approach: a Llama 3.2 1B-based model trained on user stories and prompted to rank items, carousels, or search results without task-specific architectures. In offline evaluation, this single model outperforms specialist baselines across item, carousel, and search ranking. In online A/B tests, TubiFM significantly improves search total viewing time (TVT) by $+3.9\%$ and carousel TVT by $+0.30\%$. Item ranking is statistically neutral on TVT ($+0.14\%$), but matches a mature production stack; across all three tasks, TubiFM serves on L40S GPUs and reduces p99 ranking latency from 500ms to 200ms. These results show that shared user stories can improve discovery while simplifying ranking systems.

DreamerAD: Efficient Reinforcement Learning via Latent World Model for Autonomous Driving

We introduce DreamerAD, the first latent world model framework that enables efficient reinforcement learning for autonomous driving by compressing diffusion sampling from 100 steps to 1 - achieving 80x speedup while maintaining visual interpretability. Training RL policies on real-world driving data incurs prohibitive costs and safety risks. While existing pixel-level diffusion world models enable safe imagination-based training, they suffer from multi-step diffusion inference latency (2s/frame) that prevents high-frequency RL interaction. Our approach leverages denoised latent features from video generation models through three key mechanisms: (1) shortcut forcing that reduces sampling complexity via recursive multi-resolution step compression, (2) an autoregressive dense reward model operating directly on latent representations for fine-grained credit assignment, and (3) Gaussian vocabulary sampling for GRPO that constrains exploration to physically plausible trajectories. DreamerAD achieves 87.7 EPDMS on NavSim v2, establishing state-of-the-art performance and demonstrating that latent-space RL is effective for autonomous driving.

Scalable Quantum Error Mitigation with Physically Informed Graph Neural Networks

Quantum error mitigation (QEM) provides a practical route for estimating reliable observables on noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices. Traditional QEM strategies, including zero-noise extrapolation (ZNE) and Clifford data regression (CDR), rely on noise scaling or global regression, and their performance is constrained by the exponential growth of the system degrees of freedom. We construct a graph-enhanced mitigation (GEM) framework, which incorporates physical information into the model representation. In this work, quantum circuits are encoded as attributed graphs. Hardware-level physical information is mapped to node and edge features: local noise parameters such as calibration parameters $T_1$, $T_2$, and readout errors are encoded at nodes, while coupling-related information such as two-qubit gate errors is encoded as edge features. Graph neural networks are used to model how errors propagate along the physical coupling structure and build up into non-local correlations. This allows the model to capture local interactions and part of the resulting non-local correlations across qubits. A dual-branch affine correction is applied to maintain consistency with physical constraints. Experiments on 10-qubit and 16-qubit random circuits executed on superconducting quantum processors show that GEM provides a level of accuracy comparable to CDR at small scales, while yielding lower mean absolute error and improved stability in zero-shot transfer to larger systems. Results of the traditional QEM strategy indicate that global regression methods remain effective in low-dimensional settings but become less reliable as system degrees of freedom grow. In contrast, GEM makes use of local physical structures to show better scalability and generalization, while preserving the overall error propagation patterns. This work provides a practical scalable approach to QEM for NISQ devices.

Graph Unlearning Meets Influence-aware Negative Preference Optimization

Recent advancements in graph unlearning models have enhanced model utility by preserving the node representation essentially invariant, while using gradient ascent on the forget set to achieve unlearning. However, this approach causes a drastic degradation in model utility during the unlearning process due to the rapid divergence speed of gradient ascent. In this paper, we introduce \textbf{INPO}, an \textbf{I}nfluence-aware \textbf{N}egative \textbf{P}reference \textbf{O}ptimization framework that focuses on slowing the divergence speed and improving the robustness of the model utility to the unlearning process. Specifically, we first analyze that NPO has slower divergence speed and theoretically propose that unlearning high-influence edges can reduce impact of unlearning. We design an influence-aware message function to amplify the influence of unlearned edges and mitigate the tight topological coupling between the forget set and the retain set. The influence of each edge is quickly estimated by a removal-based method. Additionally, we propose a topological entropy loss from the perspective of topology to avoid excessive information loss in the local structure during unlearning. Extensive experiments conducted on five real-world datasets demonstrate that INPO-based model achieves state-of-the-art performance on all forget quality metrics while maintaining the model's utility. RGB-Event based Pedestrian Attribute Recognition: A Benchmark Dataset and An Asymmetric RWKV Fusion Framework

Existing pedestrian attribute recognition methods are generally developed based on RGB frame cameras. However, these approaches are constrained by the limitations of RGB cameras, such as sensitivity to lighting conditions and motion blur, which hinder their performance. Furthermore, current attribute recognition primarily focuses on analyzing pedestrians' external appearance and clothing, lacking an exploration of emotional dimensions. In this paper, we revisit these issues and propose a novel multi-modal RGB-Event attribute recognition task by drawing inspiration from the advantages of event cameras in low-light, high-speed, and low-power consumption. Specifically, we introduce the first large-scale multi-modal pedestrian attribute recognition dataset, termed EventPAR, comprising 100K paired RGB-Event samples that cover 50 attributes related to both appearance and six human emotions, diverse scenes, and various seasons. By retraining and evaluating mainstream PAR models on this dataset, we establish a comprehensive benchmark and provide a solid foundation for future research in terms of data and algorithmic baselines. In addition, we propose a novel RWKV-based multi-modal pedestrian attribute recognition framework, featuring an RWKV visual encoder and an asymmetric RWKV fusion module. Extensive experiments are conducted on our proposed dataset as well as two simulated datasets (MARS-Attribute and DukeMTMC-VID-Attribute), achieving state-of-the-art results. XiHeFusion: Harnessing Large Language Models for Science Communication in Nuclear Fusion

Nuclear fusion is one of the most promising ways for humans to obtain infinite energy. Currently, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the mission of nuclear fusion has also entered a critical period of its development. How to let more people to understand nuclear fusion and join in its research is one of the effective means to accelerate the implementation of fusion. This paper proposes the first large model in the field of nuclear fusion, XiHeFusion, which is obtained through supervised fine-tuning based on the open-source large model Qwen2.5-14B. We have collected multi-source knowledge about nuclear fusion tasks to support the training of this model, including the common crawl, eBooks, arXiv, dissertation, etc. After the model has mastered the knowledge of the nuclear fusion field, we further used the chain of thought to enhance its logical reasoning ability, making XiHeFusion able to provide more accurate and logical answers. In addition, we propose a test questionnaire containing 180+ questions to assess the conversational ability of this science popularization large model. Extensive experimental results show that our nuclear fusion dialogue model, XiHeFusion, can perform well in answering science popularization knowledge. Adjustable Robust Transformer for High Myopia Screening in Optical Coherence Tomography

Myopia is a manifestation of visual impairment caused by an excessively elongated eyeball. Image data is critical material for studying high myopia and pathological myopia. Measurements of spherical equivalent and axial length are the gold standards for identifying high myopia, but the available image data for matching them is scarce. In addition, the criteria for defining high myopia vary from study to study, and therefore the inclusion of samples in automated screening efforts requires an appropriate assessment of interpretability. In this work, we propose a model called adjustable robust transformer (ARTran) for high myopia screening of optical coherence tomography (OCT) data. Based on vision transformer, we propose anisotropic patch embedding (APE) to capture more discriminative features of high myopia. To make the model effective under variable screening conditions, we propose an adjustable class embedding (ACE) to replace the fixed class token, which changes the output to adapt to different conditions. Considering the confusion of the data at high myopia and low myopia threshold, we introduce the label noise learning strategy and propose a shifted subspace transition matrix (SST) to enhance the robustness of the model. Besides, combining the two structures proposed above, the model can provide evidence for uncertainty evaluation. ESTR-CoT: Towards Explainable and Accurate Event Stream based Scene Text Recognition with Chain-of-Thought Reasoning

Event stream based scene text recognition is a newly arising research topic in recent years which performs better than the widely used RGB cameras in extremely challenging scenarios, especially the low illumination, fast motion. Existing works either adopt end-to-end encoder-decoder framework or large language models for enhanced recognition, however, they are still limited by the challenges of insufficient interpretability and weak contextual logical reasoning. In this work, we propose a novel chain-of-thought reasoning based event stream scene text recognition framework, termed ESTR-CoT. Specifically, we first adopt the vision encoder EVA-CLIP (ViT-G/14) to transform the input event stream into tokens and utilize a Llama tokenizer to encode the given generation prompt. A Q-former is used to align the vision token to the pre-trained large language model Vicuna-7B and output both the answer and chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning process simultaneously. Our framework can be optimized using supervised fine-tuning in an end-to-end manner. In addition, we also propose a large-scale CoT dataset to train our framework via a three stage processing (i.e., generation, polish, and expert verification). This dataset provides a solid data foundation for the development of subsequent reasoning-based large models. Extensive experiments on three event stream STR benchmark datasets (i.e., EventSTR, WordArt*, IC15*) fully validated the effectiveness and interpretability of our proposed framework. Can AI Master Econometrics? Evidence from Econometrics AI Agent on Expert-Level Tasks

Can AI effectively perform complex econometric analysis traditionally requiring human expertise? This paper evaluates AI agents' capability to master econometrics, focusing on empirical analysis performance. We develop an ``Econometrics AI Agent'' built on the open-source MetaGPT framework. This agent exhibits outstanding performance in: (1) planning econometric tasks strategically, (2) generating and executing code, (3) employing error-based reflection for improved robustness, and (4) allowing iterative refinement through multi-round conversations. We construct two datasets from academic coursework materials and published research papers to evaluate performance against real-world challenges. Comparative testing shows our domain-specialized AI agent significantly outperforms both benchmark large language models (LLMs) and general-purpose AI agents. This work establishes a testbed for exploring AI's impact on social science research and enables cost-effective integration of domain expertise, making advanced econometric methods accessible to users with minimal coding skills. Furthermore, our AI agent enhances research reproducibility and offers promising pedagogical applications for econometrics teaching.

Adversarial Attack for RGB-Event based Visual Object Tracking

Visual object tracking is a crucial research topic in the fields of computer vision and multi-modal fusion. Among various approaches, robust visual tracking that combines RGB frames with Event streams has attracted increasing attention from researchers. While striving for high accuracy and efficiency in tracking, it is also important to explore how to effectively conduct adversarial attacks and defenses on RGB-Event stream tracking algorithms, yet research in this area remains relatively scarce. To bridge this gap, in this paper, we propose a cross-modal adversarial attack algorithm for RGB-Event visual tracking. Because of the diverse representations of Event streams, and given that Event voxels and frames are more commonly used, this paper will focus on these two representations for an in-depth study. Specifically, for the RGB-Event voxel, we first optimize the perturbation by adversarial loss to generate RGB frame adversarial examples. For discrete Event voxel representations, we propose a two-step attack strategy, more in detail, we first inject Event voxels into the target region as initialized adversarial examples, then, conduct a gradient-guided optimization by perturbing the spatial location of the Event voxels. For the RGB-Event frame based tracking, we optimize the cross-modal universal perturbation by integrating the gradient information from multimodal data. We evaluate the proposed approach against attacks on three widely used RGB-Event Tracking datasets, i.e., COESOT, FE108, and VisEvent. Extensive experiments show that our method significantly reduces the performance of the tracker across numerous datasets in both unimodal and multimodal scenarios. Test-time generative augmentation for medical image segmentation

Medical image segmentation is critical for clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring, yet segmentation models often struggle with uncertainties stemming from occlusions, ambiguous boundaries, and variations in imaging devices. Traditional test-time augmentation (TTA) techniques typically rely on predefined geometric and photometric transformations, limiting their adaptability and effectiveness in complex medical scenarios. In this study, we introduced Test-Time Generative Augmentation (TTGA), a novel augmentation strategy specifically tailored for medical image segmentation at inference time. Different from conventional augmentation strategies that suffer from excessive randomness or limited flexibility, TTGA leverages a domain-fine-tuned generative model to produce contextually relevant and diverse augmentations tailored to the characteristics of each test image. Built upon diffusion model inversion, a masked null-text inversion method is proposed to enable region-specific augmentations during sampling. Furthermore, a dual denoising pathway is designed to balance precise identity preservation with controlled variability. We demonstrate the efficacy of our TTGA through extensive experiments across three distinct segmentation tasks spanning nine datasets. Our results consistently demonstrate that TTGA not only improves segmentation accuracy (with DSC gains ranging from 0.1% to 2.3% over the baseline) but also offers pixel-wise error estimation (with DSC gains ranging from 1.1% to 29.0% over the baseline). LW-DETR: A Transformer Replacement to YOLO for Real-Time Detection

In this paper, we present a light-weight detection transformer, LW-DETR, which outperforms YOLOs for real-time object detection. The architecture is a simple stack of a ViT encoder, a projector, and a shallow DETR decoder. Our approach leverages recent advanced techniques, such as training-effective techniques, e.g., improved loss and pretraining, and interleaved window and global attentions for reducing the ViT encoder complexity. We improve the ViT encoder by aggregating multi-level feature maps, and the intermediate and final feature maps in the ViT encoder, forming richer feature maps, and introduce window-major feature map organization for improving the efficiency of interleaved attention computation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is superior over existing real-time detectors, e.g., YOLO and its variants, on COCO and other benchmark datasets. DeepKE: A Deep Learning Based Knowledge Extraction Toolkit for Knowledge Base Population

We present an open-source and extensible knowledge extraction toolkit DeepKE, supporting complicated low-resource, document-level and multimodal scenarios in the knowledge base population. DeepKE implements various information extraction tasks, including named entity recognition, relation extraction and attribute extraction. With a unified framework, DeepKE allows developers and researchers to customize datasets and models to extract information from unstructured data according to their requirements. Specifically, DeepKE not only provides various functional modules and model implementation for different tasks and scenarios but also organizes all components by consistent frameworks to maintain sufficient modularity and extensibility. You Only Look One-level Feature

This paper revisits feature pyramids networks (FPN) for one-stage detectors and points out that the success of FPN is due to its divide-and-conquer solution to the optimization problem in object detection rather than multi-scale feature fusion. From the perspective of optimization, we introduce an alternative way to address the problem instead of adopting the complex feature pyramids - {\em utilizing only one-level feature for detection}. Based on the simple and efficient solution, we present You Only Look One-level Feature (YOLOF). In our method, two key components, Dilated Encoder and Uniform Matching, are proposed and bring considerable improvements. Extensive experiments on the COCO benchmark prove the effectiveness of the proposed model. Our YOLOF achieves comparable results with its feature pyramids counterpart RetinaNet while being $2.5\times$ faster. Without transformer layers, YOLOF can match the performance of DETR in a single-level feature manner with $7\times$ less training epochs. With an image size of $608\times608$, YOLOF achieves 44.3 mAP running at 60 fps on 2080Ti, which is $13\%$ faster than YOLOv4. Code is available at \url{https://github.com/megvii-model/YOLOF}.

Location-aware Upsampling for Semantic Segmentation

Many successful learning targets such as minimizing dice loss and cross-entropy loss have enabled unprecedented breakthroughs in segmentation tasks. Beyond these semantic metrics, this paper aims to introduce location supervision into semantic segmentation. Based on this idea, we present a Location-aware Upsampling (LaU) that adaptively refines the interpolating coordinates with trainable offsets. Then, location-aware losses are established by encouraging pixels to move towards well-classified locations. An LaU is offset prediction coupled with interpolation, which is trained end-to-end to generate confidence score at each position from coarse to fine. Guided by location-aware losses, the new module can replace its plain counterpart (\textit{e.g.}, bilinear upsampling) in a plug-and-play manner to further boost the leading encoder-decoder approaches. Extensive experiments validate the consistent improvement over the state-of-the-art methods on benchmark datasets. SpatialFlow: Bridging All Tasks for Panoptic Segmentation

Object location is fundamental to panoptic segmentation as it is related to all things and stuff in the image scene. Knowing the locations of objects in the image provides clues for segmenting and helps the network better understand the scene. How to integrate object location in both thing and stuff segmentation is a crucial problem. In this paper, we propose spatial information flows to achieve this objective. The flows can bridge all sub-tasks in panoptic segmentation by delivering the object's spatial context from the box regression task to others. More importantly, we design four parallel sub-networks to get a preferable adaptation of object spatial information in sub-tasks. Upon the sub-networks and the flows, we present a location-aware and unified framework for panoptic segmentation, denoted as SpatialFlow. We perform a detailed ablation study on each component and conduct extensive experiments to prove the effectiveness of SpatialFlow. Furthermore, we achieve state-of-the-art results, which are $47.9$ PQ and $62.5$ PQ respectively on MS-COCO and Cityscapes panoptic benchmarks. Compact Global Descriptor for Neural Networks

Long-range dependencies modeling, widely used in capturing spatiotemporal correlation, has shown to be effective in CNN dominated computer vision tasks. Yet neither stacks of convolutional operations to enlarge receptive fields nor recent nonlocal modules is computationally efficient. In this paper, we present a generic family of lightweight global descriptors for modeling the interactions between positions across different dimensions (e.g., channels, frames). This descriptor enables subsequent convolutions to access the informative global features with negligible computational complexity and parameters. Benchmark experiments show that the proposed method can complete state-of-the-art long-range mechanisms with a significant reduction in extra computing cost. Tools as Continuous Flow for Evolving Agentic Reasoning

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in orchestrating tools for reasoning tasks. However, existing methods rely on a step-wise paradigm that lacks a global perspective, which causes error accumulation over long horizons and restricts generalization to unseen tools. To overcome these limitations, we propose Tools as Continuous Flow for Evolving Agentic Reasoning (FlowAgent), which reconceptualizes tool chaining as continuous trajectory generation within a semantic space. To systematically evaluate this paradigm, we introduce the first plan-level closed-loop benchmark dedicated to plan-level agentic reasoning in dynamic real-world environments. Specifically, the proposed FlowAgent leverages conditional flow matching to generate continuous latent trajectories, providing a global planning perspective to ensure coherent and robust tool execution. Theoretically, we establish formal bounds on utility convergence and prove that our continuous formulation fundamentally guarantees robust generalization and error attenuation. Empirical evaluations show that FlowAgent achieves superior robustness and adaptability in long-horizon reasoning tasks.

MS-DETR: Efficient DETR Training with Mixed Supervision

DETR accomplishes end-to-end object detection through iteratively generating multiple object candidates based on image features and promoting one candidate for each ground-truth object. The traditional training procedure using one-to-one supervision in the original DETR lacks direct supervision for the object detection candidates. We aim at improving the DETR training efficiency by explicitly supervising the candidate generation procedure through mixing one-to-one supervision and one-to-many supervision. Our approach, namely MS-DETR, is simple, and places one-to-many supervision to the object queries of the primary decoder that is used for inference. In comparison to existing DETR variants with one-to-many supervision, such as Group DETR and Hybrid DETR, our approach does not need additional decoder branches or object queries. The object queries of the primary decoder in our approach directly benefit from one-to-many supervision and thus are superior in object candidate prediction. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms related DETR variants, such as DN-DETR, Hybrid DETR, and Group DETR, and the combination with related DETR variants further improves the performance.

Improving Multi-modal Large Language Model through Boosting Vision Capabilities

We focus on improving the visual understanding capability for boosting the vision-language models. We propose \textbf{Arcana}, a multiModal language model, which introduces two crucial techniques. First, we present Multimodal LoRA (MM-LoRA), a module designed to enhance the decoder. Unlike traditional language-driven decoders, MM-LoRA consists of two parallel LoRAs -- one for vision and one for language -- each with its own parameters. This disentangled parameters design allows for more specialized learning in each modality and better integration of multimodal information. Second, we introduce the Query Ladder adapter (QLadder) to improve the visual encoder. QLadder employs a learnable ``\textit{ladder}'' structure to deeply aggregates the intermediate representations from the frozen pretrained visual encoder (e.g., CLIP image encoder). This enables the model to learn new and informative visual features, as well as remaining the powerful capabilities of the pretrained visual encoder. These techniques collectively enhance Arcana's visual perception power, enabling it to leverage improved visual information for more accurate and contextually relevant outputs across various multimodal scenarios. Extensive experiments and ablation studies demonstrate the effectiveness and generalization capability of our Arcana. Implicit Location-Caption Alignment via Complementary Masking for Weakly-Supervised Dense Video Captioning

Weakly-Supervised Dense Video Captioning (WSDVC) aims to localize and describe all events of interest in a video without requiring annotations of event boundaries. This setting poses a great challenge in accurately locating the temporal location of event, as the relevant supervision is unavailable. Existing methods rely on explicit alignment constraints between event locations and captions, which involve complex event proposal procedures during both training and inference. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel implicit location-caption alignment paradigm by complementary masking, which simplifies the complex event proposal and localization process while maintaining effectiveness. Specifically, our model comprises two components: a dual-mode video captioning module and a mask generation module. The dual-mode video captioning module captures global event information and generates descriptive captions, while the mask generation module generates differentiable positive and negative masks for localizing the events. These masks enable the implicit alignment of event locations and captions by ensuring that captions generated from positively and negatively masked videos are complementary, thereby forming a complete video description. In this way, even under weak supervision, the event location and event caption can be aligned implicitly. Extensive experiments on the public datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms existing weakly-supervised methods and achieves competitive results compared to fully-supervised methods.

Continual SFT Matches Multimodal RLHF with Negative Supervision

Multimodal RLHF usually happens after supervised finetuning (SFT) stage to continually improve vision-language models' (VLMs) comprehension. Conventional wisdom holds its superiority over continual SFT during this preference alignment stage. In this paper, we observe that the inherent value of multimodal RLHF lies in its negative supervision, the logit of the rejected responses. We thus propose a novel negative supervised finetuning (nSFT) approach that fully excavates these information resided. Our nSFT disentangles this negative supervision in RLHF paradigm, and continually aligns VLMs with a simple SFT loss. This is more memory efficient than multimodal RLHF where 2 (e.g., DPO) or 4 (e.g., PPO) large VLMs are strictly required. The effectiveness of nSFT is rigorously proved by comparing it with various multimodal RLHF approaches, across different dataset sources, base VLMs and evaluation metrics. Besides, fruitful of ablations are provided to support our hypothesis. We hope this paper will stimulate further research to properly align large vision language models.

APTOS-2024 challenge report: Generation of synthetic 3D OCT images from fundus photographs

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) provides high-resolution, 3D, and non-invasive visualization of retinal layers in vivo, serving as a critical tool for lesion localization and disease diagnosis. However, its widespread adoption is limited by equipment costs and the need for specialized operators. In comparison, 2D color fundus photography offers faster acquisition and greater accessibility with less dependence on expensive devices. Although generative artificial intelligence has demonstrated promising results in medical image synthesis, translating 2D fundus images into 3D OCT images presents unique challenges due to inherent differences in data dimensionality and biological information between modalities. To advance generative models in the fundus-to-3D-OCT setting, the Asia Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society (APTOS-2024) organized a challenge titled Artificial Intelligence-based OCT Generation from Fundus Images. This paper details the challenge framework (referred to as APTOS-2024 Challenge), including: the benchmark dataset, evaluation methodology featuring two fidelity metrics-image-based distance (pixel-level OCT B-scan similarity) and video-based distance (semantic-level volumetric consistency), and analysis of top-performing solutions. The challenge attracted 342 participating teams, with 42 preliminary submissions and 9 finalists. Leading methodologies incorporated innovations in hybrid data preprocessing or augmentation (cross-modality collaborative paradigms), pre-training on external ophthalmic imaging datasets, integration of vision foundation models, and model architecture improvement. The APTOS-2024 Challenge is the first benchmark demonstrating the feasibility of fundus-to-3D-OCT synthesis as a potential solution for improving ophthalmic care accessibility in under-resourced healthcare settings, while helping to expedite medical research and clinical applications.

Where to Explore: A Reach and Cost-Aware Approach for Unbiased Data Collection in Recommender Systems

Exploration is essential to improve long-term recommendation quality, but it often degrades short-term business performance, especially in remote-first TV environments where users engage passively, expect instant relevance, and offer few chances for correction. This paper introduces an approach for delivering content-level exploration safely and efficiently by optimizing its placement based on reach and opportunity cost. Deployed on a large-scale streaming platform with over 100 million monthly active users, our approach identifies scroll-depth regions with lower engagement and strategically introduces a dedicated container, the "Something Completely Different" row containing randomized content. Rather than enforcing exploration uniformly across the user interface (UI), we condition its appearance on empirically low-cost, high-reach positions to ensure minimal tradeoff against platform-level watch time goals. Extensive A/B testing shows that this strategy preserves business metrics while collecting unbiased interaction data. Our method complements existing intra-row diversification and bandit-based exploration techniques by introducing a deployable, behaviorally informed mechanism for surfacing exploratory content at scale. Moreover, we demonstrate that the collected unbiased data, integrated into downstream candidate generation, significantly improves user engagement, validating its value for recommender systems.
