Towards An End-to-End Framework for Flow-Guided Video InpaintingZhen Li, Cheng-Ze Lu, Jianhua Qin et al.
Optical flow, which captures motion information across frames, is exploited in recent video inpainting methods through propagating pixels along its trajectories. However, the hand-crafted flow-based processes in these methods are applied separately to form the whole inpainting pipeline. Thus, these methods are less efficient and rely heavily on the intermediate results from earlier stages. In this paper, we propose an End-to-End framework for Flow-Guided Video Inpainting (E$^2$FGVI) through elaborately designed three trainable modules, namely, flow completion, feature propagation, and content hallucination modules. The three modules correspond with the three stages of previous flow-based methods but can be jointly optimized, leading to a more efficient and effective inpainting process. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art methods both qualitatively and quantitatively and shows promising efficiency. AMT: All-Pairs Multi-Field Transforms for Efficient Frame InterpolationZhen Li, Zuo-Liang Zhu, Ling-Hao Han et al.
We present All-Pairs Multi-Field Transforms (AMT), a new network architecture for video frame interpolation. It is based on two essential designs. First, we build bidirectional correlation volumes for all pairs of pixels, and use the predicted bilateral flows to retrieve correlations for updating both flows and the interpolated content feature. Second, we derive multiple groups of fine-grained flow fields from one pair of updated coarse flows for performing backward warping on the input frames separately. Combining these two designs enables us to generate promising task-oriented flows and reduce the difficulties in modeling large motions and handling occluded areas during frame interpolation. These qualities promote our model to achieve state-of-the-art performance on various benchmarks with high efficiency. Moreover, our convolution-based model competes favorably compared to Transformer-based models in terms of accuracy and efficiency. Our code is available at https://github.com/MCG-NKU/AMT.
Designing An Illumination-Aware Network for Deep Image RelightingZuo-Liang Zhu, Zhen Li, Rui-Xun Zhang et al.
Lighting is a determining factor in photography that affects the style, expression of emotion, and even quality of images. Creating or finding satisfying lighting conditions, in reality, is laborious and time-consuming, so it is of great value to develop a technology to manipulate illumination in an image as post-processing. Although previous works have explored techniques based on the physical viewpoint for relighting images, extensive supervisions and prior knowledge are necessary to generate reasonable images, restricting the generalization ability of these works. In contrast, we take the viewpoint of image-to-image translation and implicitly merge ideas of the conventional physical viewpoint. In this paper, we present an Illumination-Aware Network (IAN) which follows the guidance from hierarchical sampling to progressively relight a scene from a single image with high efficiency. In addition, an Illumination-Aware Residual Block (IARB) is designed to approximate the physical rendering process and to extract precise descriptors of light sources for further manipulations. We also introduce a depth-guided geometry encoder for acquiring valuable geometry- and structure-related representations once the depth information is available. Experimental results show that our proposed method produces better quantitative and qualitative relighting results than previous state-of-the-art methods. The code and models are publicly available on https://github.com/NK-CS-ZZL/IAN.
Multi-view Inverse Rendering for Large-scale Real-world Indoor ScenesZhen Li, Lingli Wang, Mofang Cheng et al.
We present a efficient multi-view inverse rendering method for large-scale real-world indoor scenes that reconstructs global illumination and physically-reasonable SVBRDFs. Unlike previous representations, where the global illumination of large scenes is simplified as multiple environment maps, we propose a compact representation called Texture-based Lighting (TBL). It consists of 3D mesh and HDR textures, and efficiently models direct and infinite-bounce indirect lighting of the entire large scene. Based on TBL, we further propose a hybrid lighting representation with precomputed irradiance, which significantly improves the efficiency and alleviates the rendering noise in the material optimization. To physically disentangle the ambiguity between materials, we propose a three-stage material optimization strategy based on the priors of semantic segmentation and room segmentation. Extensive experiments show that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art quantitatively and qualitatively, and enables physically-reasonable mixed-reality applications such as material editing, editable novel view synthesis and relighting. OpenFly: A Comprehensive Platform for Aerial Vision-Language NavigationYunpeng Gao, Chenhui Li, Zhongrui You et al.
Vision-Language Navigation (VLN) aims to guide agents by leveraging language instructions and visual cues, playing a pivotal role in embodied AI. Indoor VLN has been extensively studied, whereas outdoor aerial VLN remains underexplored. The potential reason is that outdoor aerial view encompasses vast areas, making data collection more challenging, which results in a lack of benchmarks. To address this problem, we propose OpenFly, a platform comprising various rendering engines, a versatile toolchain, and a large-scale benchmark for aerial VLN. Firstly, we integrate diverse rendering engines and advanced techniques for environment simulation, including Unreal Engine, GTA V, Google Earth, and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D GS). Particularly, 3D GS supports real-to-sim rendering, further enhancing the realism of our environments. Secondly, we develop a highly automated toolchain for aerial VLN data collection, streamlining point cloud acquisition, scene semantic segmentation, flight trajectory creation, and instruction generation. Thirdly, based on the toolchain, we construct a large-scale aerial VLN dataset with 100k trajectories, covering diverse heights and lengths across 18 scenes. Moreover, we propose OpenFly-Agent, a keyframe-aware VLN model emphasizing key observations during flight. For benchmarking, extensive experiments and analyses are conducted, evaluating several recent VLN methods and showcasing the superiority of our OpenFly platform and agent. The toolchain, dataset, and codes will be open-sourced.

VesSAM: Efficient Multi-Prompting for Segmenting Complex VesselSuzhong Fu, Rui Sun, Xuan Ding et al.
Accurate vessel segmentation is critical for clinical applications such as disease diagnosis and surgical planning, yet remains challenging due to thin, branching structures and low texture contrast. While foundation models like the Segment Anything Model (SAM) have shown promise in generic segmentation, they perform sub-optimally on vascular structures. In this work, we present VesSAM, a powerful and efficient framework tailored for 2D vessel segmentation. VesSAM integrates (1) a convolutional adapter to enhance local texture features, (2) a multi-prompt encoder that fuses anatomical prompts, including skeletons, bifurcation points, and segment midpoints, via hierarchical cross-attention, and (3) a lightweight mask decoder to reduce jagged artifacts. We also introduce an automated pipeline to generate structured multi-prompt annotations, and curate a diverse benchmark dataset spanning 8 datasets across 5 imaging modalities. Experimental results demonstrate that VesSAM consistently outperforms state-of-the-art PEFT-based SAM variants by over 10% Dice and 13% IoU, and achieves competitive performance compared to fully fine-tuned methods, with significantly fewer parameters. VesSAM also generalizes well to out-of-distribution (OoD) settings, outperforming all baselines in average OoD Dice and IoU.
Consistency of Compositional Generalization across Multiple LevelsChuanhao Li, Zhen Li, Chenchen Jing et al.
Compositional generalization is the capability of a model to understand novel compositions composed of seen concepts. There are multiple levels of novel compositions including phrase-phrase level, phrase-word level, and word-word level. Existing methods achieve promising compositional generalization, but the consistency of compositional generalization across multiple levels of novel compositions remains unexplored. The consistency refers to that a model should generalize to a phrase-phrase level novel composition, and phrase-word/word-word level novel compositions that can be derived from it simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a meta-learning based framework, for achieving consistent compositional generalization across multiple levels. The basic idea is to progressively learn compositions from simple to complex for consistency. Specifically, we divide the original training set into multiple validation sets based on compositional complexity, and introduce multiple meta-weight-nets to generate sample weights for samples in different validation sets. To fit the validation sets in order of increasing compositional complexity, we optimize the parameters of each meta-weight-net independently and sequentially in a multilevel optimization manner. We build a GQA-CCG dataset to quantitatively evaluate the consistency. Experimental results on visual question answering and temporal video grounding, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. We release GQA-CCG at https://github.com/NeverMoreLCH/CCG.

RadOcc: Learning Cross-Modality Occupancy Knowledge through Rendering Assisted DistillationHaiming Zhang, Xu Yan, Dongfeng Bai et al.
3D occupancy prediction is an emerging task that aims to estimate the occupancy states and semantics of 3D scenes using multi-view images. However, image-based scene perception encounters significant challenges in achieving accurate prediction due to the absence of geometric priors. In this paper, we address this issue by exploring cross-modal knowledge distillation in this task, i.e., we leverage a stronger multi-modal model to guide the visual model during training. In practice, we observe that directly applying features or logits alignment, proposed and widely used in bird's-eyeview (BEV) perception, does not yield satisfactory results. To overcome this problem, we introduce RadOcc, a Rendering assisted distillation paradigm for 3D Occupancy prediction. By employing differentiable volume rendering, we generate depth and semantic maps in perspective views and propose two novel consistency criteria between the rendered outputs of teacher and student models. Specifically, the depth consistency loss aligns the termination distributions of the rendered rays, while the semantic consistency loss mimics the intra-segment similarity guided by vision foundation models (VLMs). Experimental results on the nuScenes dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method in improving various 3D occupancy prediction approaches, e.g., our proposed methodology enhances our baseline by 2.2% in the metric of mIoU and achieves 50% in Occ3D benchmark.

AR-1-to-3: Single Image to Consistent 3D Object Generation via Next-View PredictionXuying Zhang, Yupeng Zhou, Kai Wang et al.
Novel view synthesis (NVS) is a cornerstone for image-to-3d creation. However, existing works still struggle to maintain consistency between the generated views and the input views, especially when there is a significant camera pose difference, leading to poor-quality 3D geometries and textures. We attribute this issue to their treatment of all target views with equal priority according to our empirical observation that the target views closer to the input views exhibit higher fidelity. With this inspiration, we propose AR-1-to-3, a novel next-view prediction paradigm based on diffusion models that first generates views close to the input views, which are then utilized as contextual information to progressively synthesize farther views. To encode the generated view subsequences as local and global conditions for the next-view prediction, we accordingly develop a stacked local feature encoding strategy (Stacked-LE) and an LSTM-based global feature encoding strategy (LSTM-GE). Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method significantly improves the consistency between the generated views and the input views, producing high-fidelity 3D assets.

MM-BrowseComp: A Comprehensive Benchmark for Multimodal Browsing AgentsShilong Li, Xingyuan Bu, Wenjie Wang et al.
AI agents with advanced reasoning and tool use capabilities have demonstrated impressive performance in web browsing for deep search. While existing benchmarks such as BrowseComp evaluate these browsing abilities, they primarily focus on textual information, overlooking the prevalence of multimodal content. To bridge this gap, we introduce MM-BrowseComp, a novel benchmark comprising 224 challenging, hand-crafted questions specifically designed to assess agents' multimodal retrieval and reasoning capabilities. These questions often incorporate images in prompts, and crucial information encountered during the search and reasoning process may also be embedded within images or videos on webpages. Consequently, methods relying solely on text prove insufficient for our benchmark. Additionally, we provide a verified checklist for each question, enabling fine-grained analysis of multimodal dependencies and reasoning paths. Our comprehensive evaluation of state-of-the-art models on MM-BrowseComp reveals that even top models like OpenAI o3 with tools achieve only 29.02\% accuracy, highlighting the suboptimal multimodal capabilities and lack of native multimodal reasoning in current models.

Respond to Change with Constancy: Instruction-tuning with LLM for Non-I.I.D. Network Traffic ClassificationXinjie Lin, Gang Xiong, Gaopeng Gou et al.
Encrypted traffic classification is highly challenging in network security due to the need for extracting robust features from content-agnostic traffic data. Existing approaches face critical issues: (i) Distribution drift, caused by reliance on the closedworld assumption, limits adaptability to realworld, shifting patterns; (ii) Dependence on labeled data restricts applicability where such data is scarce or unavailable. Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable potential in offering generalizable solutions across a wide range of tasks, achieving notable success in various specialized fields. However, their effectiveness in traffic analysis remains constrained by challenges in adapting to the unique requirements of the traffic domain. In this paper, we introduce a novel traffic representation model named Encrypted Traffic Out-of-Distribution Instruction Tuning with LLM (ETooL), which integrates LLMs with knowledge of traffic structures through a self-supervised instruction tuning paradigm. This framework establishes connections between textual information and traffic interactions. ETooL demonstrates more robust classification performance and superior generalization in both supervised and zero-shot traffic classification tasks. Notably, it achieves significant improvements in F1 scores: APP53 (I.I.D.) to 93.19%(6.62%) and 92.11%(4.19%), APP53 (O.O.D.) to 74.88%(18.17%) and 72.13%(15.15%), and ISCX-Botnet (O.O.D.) to 95.03%(9.16%) and 81.95%(12.08%). Additionally, we construct NETD, a traffic dataset designed to support dynamic distributional shifts, and use it to validate ETooL's effectiveness under varying distributional conditions. Furthermore, we evaluate the efficiency gains achieved through ETooL's instruction tuning approach.

BARNet: Bilinear Attention Network with Adaptive Receptive Fields for Surgical Instrument SegmentationZhen-Liang Ni, Gui-Bin Bian, Guan-An Wang et al.
Surgical instrument segmentation is extremely important for computer-assisted surgery. Different from common object segmentation, it is more challenging due to the large illumination and scale variation caused by the special surgical scenes. In this paper, we propose a novel bilinear attention network with adaptive receptive field to solve these two challenges. For the illumination variation, the bilinear attention module can capture second-order statistics to encode global contexts and semantic dependencies between local pixels. With them, semantic features in challenging areas can be inferred from their neighbors and the distinction of various semantics can be boosted. For the scale variation, our adaptive receptive field module aggregates multi-scale features and automatically fuses them with different weights. Specifically, it encodes the semantic relationship between channels to emphasize feature maps with appropriate scales, changing the receptive field of subsequent convolutions. The proposed network achieves the best performance 97.47% mean IOU on Cata7 and comes first place on EndoVis 2017 by 10.10% IOU overtaking second-ranking method.
