You Need to Read Again: Multi-granularity Perception Network for Moment Retrieval in VideosXin Sun, Xuan Wang, Jialin Gao et al.
Moment retrieval in videos is a challenging task that aims to retrieve the most relevant video moment in an untrimmed video given a sentence description. Previous methods tend to perform self-modal learning and cross-modal interaction in a coarse manner, which neglect fine-grained clues contained in video content, query context, and their alignment. To this end, we propose a novel Multi-Granularity Perception Network (MGPN) that perceives intra-modality and inter-modality information at a multi-granularity level. Specifically, we formulate moment retrieval as a multi-choice reading comprehension task and integrate human reading strategies into our framework. A coarse-grained feature encoder and a co-attention mechanism are utilized to obtain a preliminary perception of intra-modality and inter-modality information. Then a fine-grained feature encoder and a conditioned interaction module are introduced to enhance the initial perception inspired by how humans address reading comprehension problems. Moreover, to alleviate the huge computation burden of some existing methods, we further design an efficient choice comparison module and reduce the hidden size with imperceptible quality loss. Extensive experiments on Charades-STA, TACoS, and ActivityNet Captions datasets demonstrate that our solution outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods. BUOL: A Bottom-Up Framework with Occupancy-aware Lifting for Panoptic 3D Scene Reconstruction From A Single ImageTao Chu, Pan Zhang, Qiong Liu et al.
Understanding and modeling the 3D scene from a single image is a practical problem. A recent advance proposes a panoptic 3D scene reconstruction task that performs both 3D reconstruction and 3D panoptic segmentation from a single image. Although having made substantial progress, recent works only focus on top-down approaches that fill 2D instances into 3D voxels according to estimated depth, which hinders their performance by two ambiguities. (1) instance-channel ambiguity: The variable ids of instances in each scene lead to ambiguity during filling voxel channels with 2D information, confusing the following 3D refinement. (2) voxel-reconstruction ambiguity: 2D-to-3D lifting with estimated single view depth only propagates 2D information onto the surface of 3D regions, leading to ambiguity during the reconstruction of regions behind the frontal view surface. In this paper, we propose BUOL, a Bottom-Up framework with Occupancy-aware Lifting to address the two issues for panoptic 3D scene reconstruction from a single image. For instance-channel ambiguity, a bottom-up framework lifts 2D information to 3D voxels based on deterministic semantic assignments rather than arbitrary instance id assignments. The 3D voxels are then refined and grouped into 3D instances according to the predicted 2D instance centers. For voxel-reconstruction ambiguity, the estimated multi-plane occupancy is leveraged together with depth to fill the whole regions of things and stuff. Our method shows a tremendous performance advantage over state-of-the-art methods on synthetic dataset 3D-Front and real-world dataset Matterport3D. FSF-Net: Enhance 4D Occupancy Forecasting with Coarse BEV Scene Flow for Autonomous DrivingErxin Guo, Pei An, You Yang et al.
4D occupancy forecasting is one of the important techniques for autonomous driving, which can avoid potential risk in the complex traffic scenes. Scene flow is a crucial element to describe 4D occupancy map tendency. However, an accurate scene flow is difficult to predict in the real scene. In this paper, we find that BEV scene flow can approximately represent 3D scene flow in most traffic scenes. And coarse BEV scene flow is easy to generate. Under this thought, we propose 4D occupancy forecasting method FSF-Net based on coarse BEV scene flow. At first, we develop a general occupancy forecasting architecture based on coarse BEV scene flow. Then, to further enhance 4D occupancy feature representation ability, we propose a vector quantized based Mamba (VQ-Mamba) network to mine spatial-temporal structural scene feature. After that, to effectively fuse coarse occupancy maps forecasted from BEV scene flow and latent features, we design a U-Net based quality fusion (UQF) network to generate the fine-grained forecasting result. Extensive experiments are conducted on public Occ3D dataset. FSF-Net has achieved IoU and mIoU 9.56% and 10.87% higher than state-of-the-art method. Hence, we believe that proposed FSF-Net benefits to the safety of autonomous driving.

MinCD-PnP: Learning 2D-3D Correspondences with Approximate Blind PnPPei An, Jiaqi Yang, Muyao Peng et al.
Image-to-point-cloud (I2P) registration is a fundamental problem in computer vision, focusing on establishing 2D-3D correspondences between an image and a point cloud. The differential perspective-n-point (PnP) has been widely used to supervise I2P registration networks by enforcing the projective constraints on 2D-3D correspondences. However, differential PnP is highly sensitive to noise and outliers in the predicted correspondences. This issue hinders the effectiveness of correspondence learning. Inspired by the robustness of blind PnP against noise and outliers in correspondences, we propose an approximated blind PnP based correspondence learning approach. To mitigate the high computational cost of blind PnP, we simplify blind PnP to an amenable task of minimizing Chamfer distance between learned 2D and 3D keypoints, called MinCD-PnP. To effectively solve MinCD-PnP, we design a lightweight multi-task learning module, named as MinCD-Net, which can be easily integrated into the existing I2P registration architectures. Extensive experiments on 7-Scenes, RGBD-V2, ScanNet, and self-collected datasets demonstrate that MinCD-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods and achieves a higher inlier ratio (IR) and registration recall (RR) in both cross-scene and cross-dataset settings.

A Survey of Recent View-based 3D Model Retrieval MethodsQiong Liu
Extensive research efforts have been dedicated to 3D model retrieval in recent decades. Recently, view-based methods have attracted much research attention due to the high discriminative property of multi-views for 3D object representation. In this report, we summarize the view-based 3D model methods and provide the further research trends. This paper focuses on the scheme for matching between multiple views of 3D models and the application of bag-of-visual-words method in 3D model retrieval. For matching between multiple views, the many-to-many matching, probabilistic matching and semisupervised learning methods are introduced. For bag-of-visual-words application in 3D model retrieval, we first briefly review the bag-of-visual-words works on multimedia and computer vision tasks, where the visual dictionary has been detailed introduced. Then a series of 3D model retrieval methods by using bag-of-visual-words description are surveyed in this paper. At last, we summarize the further research content in view-based 3D model retrieval.
