Facial Data Minimization: Shallow Model as Your Privacy FilterYuwen Pu, Jiahao Chen, Jiayu Pan et al.
Face recognition service has been used in many fields and brings much convenience to people. However, once the user's facial data is transmitted to a service provider, the user will lose control of his/her private data. In recent years, there exist various security and privacy issues due to the leakage of facial data. Although many privacy-preserving methods have been proposed, they usually fail when they are not accessible to adversaries' strategies or auxiliary data. Hence, in this paper, by fully considering two cases of uploading facial images and facial features, which are very typical in face recognition service systems, we proposed a data privacy minimization transformation (PMT) method. This method can process the original facial data based on the shallow model of authorized services to obtain the obfuscated data. The obfuscated data can not only maintain satisfactory performance on authorized models and restrict the performance on other unauthorized models but also prevent original privacy data from leaking by AI methods and human visual theft. Additionally, since a service provider may execute preprocessing operations on the received data, we also propose an enhanced perturbation method to improve the robustness of PMT. Besides, to authorize one facial image to multiple service models simultaneously, a multiple restriction mechanism is proposed to improve the scalability of PMT. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed PMT in defending against face reconstruction, data abuse, and face attribute estimation attacks. These experimental results demonstrate that PMT performs well in preventing facial data abuse and privacy leakage while maintaining face recognition accuracy.
Agentmandering: A Game-Theoretic Framework for Fair Redistricting via Large Language Model AgentsHao Li, Haotian Chen, Ruoyuan Gong et al.
Redistricting plays a central role in shaping how votes are translated into political power. While existing computational methods primarily aim to generate large ensembles of legally valid districting plans, they often neglect the strategic dynamics involved in the selection process. This oversight creates opportunities for partisan actors to cherry-pick maps that, while technically compliant, are politically advantageous. Simply satisfying formal constraints does not ensure fairness when the selection process itself can be manipulated. We propose \textbf{Agentmandering}, a framework that reimagines redistricting as a turn-based negotiation between two agents representing opposing political interests. Drawing inspiration from game-theoretic ideas, particularly the \textit{Choose-and-Freeze} protocol, our method embeds strategic interaction into the redistricting process via large language model (LLM) agents. Agents alternate between selecting and freezing districts from a small set of candidate maps, gradually partitioning the state through constrained and interpretable choices. Evaluation on post-2020 U.S. Census data across all states shows that Agentmandering significantly reduces partisan bias and unfairness, while achieving 2 to 3 orders of magnitude lower variance than standard baselines. These results demonstrate both fairness and stability, especially in swing-state scenarios. Our code is available at https://github.com/Lihaogx/AgentMandering.
HieraFashDiff: Hierarchical Fashion Design with Multi-stage Diffusion ModelsZhifeng Xie, Hao Li, Huiming Ding et al.
Fashion design is a challenging and complex process.Recent works on fashion generation and editing are all agnostic of the actual fashion design process, which limits their usage in practice. In this paper, we propose a novel hierarchical diffusion-based framework tailored for fashion design, coined as HieraFashDiff. Our model is designed to mimic the practical fashion design workflow, by unraveling the denosing process into two successive stages: 1) an ideation stage that generates design proposals given high-level concepts and 2) an iteration stage that continuously refines the proposals using low-level attributes. Our model supports fashion design generation and fine-grained local editing in a single framework. To train our model, we contribute a new dataset of full-body fashion images annotated with hierarchical text descriptions. Extensive evaluations show that, as compared to prior approaches, our method can generate fashion designs and edited results with higher fidelity and better prompt adherence, showing its promising potential to augment the practical fashion design workflow. Learning to Generate Object Interactions with Physics-Guided Video DiffusionDavid Romero, Ariana Bermudez, Hao Li et al.
Recent models for video generation have achieved remarkable progress and are now deployed in film, social media production, and advertising. Beyond their creative potential, such models also hold promise as world simulators for robotics and embodied decision making. Despite strong advances, however, current approaches still struggle to generate physically plausible object interactions and lack physics-grounded control mechanisms. To address this limitation, we introduce KineMask, an approach for physics-guided video generation that enables realistic rigid body control, interactions, and effects. Given a single image and a specified object velocity, our method generates videos with inferred motions and future object interactions. We propose a two-stage training strategy that gradually removes future motion supervision via object masks. Using this strategy we train video diffusion models (VDMs) on synthetic scenes of simple interactions and demonstrate significant improvements of object interactions in real scenes. Furthermore, KineMask integrates low-level motion control with high-level textual conditioning via predictive scene descriptions, leading to effective support for synthesis of complex dynamical phenomena. Extensive experiments show that KineMask achieves strong improvements over recent models of comparable size. Ablation studies further highlight the complementary roles of low- and high-level conditioning in VDMs. Our code, model, and data will be made publicly available.

The performance of multiple language models in identifying offensive language on social mediaHao Li, Brandon Bennett
Text classification is an important topic in the field of natural language processing. It has been preliminarily applied in information retrieval, digital library, automatic abstracting, text filtering, word semantic discrimination and many other fields. The aim of this research is to use a variety of algorithms to test the ability to identify offensive posts and evaluate their performance against a variety of assessment methods. The motivation for this project is to reduce the harm of these languages to human censors by automating the screening of offending posts. The field is a new one, and despite much interest in the past two years, there has been no focus on the object of the offence. Through the experiment of this project, it should inspire future research on identification methods as well as identification content.

Reciprocal Collision Avoidance for General Nonlinear Agents using Reinforcement LearningHao Li, Bowen Weng, Abhishek Gupta et al.
Finding feasible and collision-free paths for multiple nonlinear agents is challenging in the decentralized scenarios due to limited available information of other agents and complex dynamics constraints. In this paper, we propose a fast multi-agent collision avoidance algorithm for general nonlinear agents with continuous action space, where each agent observes only positions and velocities of nearby agents. To reduce online computation, we first decompose the multi-agent scenario and solve a two agents collision avoidance problem using reinforcement learning (RL). When extending the trained policy to a multi-agent problem, safety is ensured by introducing the optimal reciprocal collision avoidance (ORCA) as linear constraints and the overall collision avoidance action could be found through simple convex optimization. Most existing RL-based multi-agent collision avoidance algorithms rely on the direct control of agent velocities. In sharp contrasts, our approach is applicable to general nonlinear agents. Realistic simulations based on nonlinear bicycle agent models are performed with various challenging scenarios, indicating a competitive performance of the proposed method in avoiding collisions, congestion and deadlock with smooth trajectories.

Experimental Twin-Field Quantum Key Distribution Through Sending-or-Not-SendingYang Liu, Zong-Wen Yu, Weijun Zhang et al.
Channel loss seems to be the most severe limitation on the practical application of long distance quantum key distribution. The idea of twin-field quantum key distribution can improve the key rate from the linear scale of channel loss in the traditional decoy-state method to the square root scale of the channel transmittance. However, the technical demanding is rather tough because it requests single photon level interference of two remote independent lasers. Here, we adopt the technology developed in the frequency and time transfer to lock two independent lasers' wavelengths and utilize additional phase reference light to estimate and compensate the fiber fluctuation. Further with a single photon detector with high detection rate, we demonstrate twin field quantum key distribution through the sending-or-not-sending protocol with realistic phase drift over 300 km optical fiber spools. We calculate the secure key rates with finite size effect. The secure key rate at 300 km ($1.96\times10^{-6}$) is higher than that of the repeaterless secret key capacity ($8.64\times10^{-7}$).

The lower bound property of the Morley element eigenvaluesYidu Yang, Hao Li, Hai Bi
In this paper, we prove that the Morley element eigenvalues approximate the exact ones from below on regular meshes, including adaptive local refined meshes, for the fourth-order elliptic eigenvalue problems with the clamped boundary condition in any dimension. And we implement the adaptive computation to obtain lower bounds of the Morley element eigenvalues for the vibration problem of clamped plate under tension.
