Narrator: Towards Natural Control of Human-Scene Interaction Generation via Relationship Reasoning

Haibiao Xuan, Xiongzheng Li, Jinsong Zhang et al.

Naturally controllable human-scene interaction (HSI) generation has an important role in various fields, such as VR/AR content creation and human-centered AI. However, existing methods are unnatural and unintuitive in their controllability, which heavily limits their application in practice. Therefore, we focus on a challenging task of naturally and controllably generating realistic and diverse HSIs from textual descriptions. From human cognition, the ideal generative model should correctly reason about spatial relationships and interactive actions. To that end, we propose Narrator, a novel relationship reasoning-based generative approach using a conditional variation autoencoder for naturally controllable generation given a 3D scene and a textual description. Also, we model global and local spatial relationships in a 3D scene and a textual description respectively based on the scene graph, and introduce a partlevel action mechanism to represent interactions as atomic body part states. In particular, benefiting from our relationship reasoning, we further propose a simple yet effective multi-human generation strategy, which is the first exploration for controllable multi-human scene interaction generation. Our extensive experiments and perceptual studies show that Narrator can controllably generate diverse interactions and significantly outperform existing works. The code and dataset will be available for research purposes.

Exploiting Diverse Feature for Multimodal Sentiment Analysis

Jia Li, Wei Qian, Kun Li et al.

In this paper, we present our solution to the MuSe-Personalisation sub-challenge in the MuSe 2023 Multimodal Sentiment Analysis Challenge. The task of MuSe-Personalisation aims to predict the continuous arousal and valence values of a participant based on their audio-visual, language, and physiological signal modalities data. Considering different people have personal characteristics, the main challenge of this task is how to build robustness feature presentation for sentiment prediction. To address this issue, we propose exploiting diverse features. Specifically, we proposed a series of feature extraction methods to build a robust representation and model ensemble. We empirically evaluate the performance of the utilized method on the officially provided dataset. \textbf{As a result, we achieved 3rd place in the MuSe-Personalisation sub-challenge.} Specifically, we achieve the results of 0.8492 and 0.8439 for MuSe-Personalisation in terms of arousal and valence CCC.

Frequency Decoupling for Motion Magnification via Multi-Level Isomorphic Architecture

Fei Wang, Dan Guo, Kun Li et al.

Video Motion Magnification (VMM) aims to reveal subtle and imperceptible motion information of objects in the macroscopic world. Prior methods directly model the motion field from the Eulerian perspective by Representation Learning that separates shape and texture or Multi-domain Learning from phase fluctuations. Inspired by the frequency spectrum, we observe that the low-frequency components with stable energy always possess spatial structure and less noise, making them suitable for modeling the subtle motion field. To this end, we present FD4MM, a new paradigm of Frequency Decoupling for Motion Magnification with a Multi-level Isomorphic Architecture to capture multi-level high-frequency details and a stable low-frequency structure (motion field) in video space. Since high-frequency details and subtle motions are susceptible to information degradation due to their inherent subtlety and unavoidable external interference from noise, we carefully design Sparse High/Low-pass Filters to enhance the integrity of details and motion structures, and a Sparse Frequency Mixer to promote seamless recoupling. Besides, we innovatively design a contrastive regularization for this task to strengthen the model's ability to discriminate irrelevant features, reducing undesired motion magnification. Extensive experiments on both Real-world and Synthetic Datasets show that our FD4MM outperforms SOTA methods. Meanwhile, FD4MM reduces FLOPs by 1.63$\times$ and boosts inference speed by 1.68$\times$ than the latest method. Our code is available at https://github.com/Jiafei127/FD4MM.

Exploiting Ensemble Learning for Cross-View Isolated Sign Language Recognition

Fei Wang, Kun Li, Yiqi Nie et al.

In this paper, we present our solution to the Cross-View Isolated Sign Language Recognition (CV-ISLR) challenge held at WWW 2025. CV-ISLR addresses a critical issue in traditional Isolated Sign Language Recognition (ISLR), where existing datasets predominantly capture sign language videos from a frontal perspective, while real-world camera angles often vary. To accurately recognize sign language from different viewpoints, models must be capable of understanding gestures from multiple angles, making cross-view recognition challenging. To address this, we explore the advantages of ensemble learning, which enhances model robustness and generalization across diverse views. Our approach, built on a multi-dimensional Video Swin Transformer model, leverages this ensemble strategy to achieve competitive performance. Finally, our solution ranked 3rd in both the RGB-based ISLR and RGB-D-based ISLR tracks, demonstrating the effectiveness in handling the challenges of cross-view recognition. The code is available at: https://github.com/Jiafei127/CV_ISLR_WWW2025.

Group Gated Fusion on Attention-based Bidirectional Alignment for Multimodal Emotion Recognition

Pengfei Liu, Kun Li, Helen Meng

Emotion recognition is a challenging and actively-studied research area that plays a critical role in emotion-aware human-computer interaction systems. In a multimodal setting, temporal alignment between different modalities has not been well investigated yet. This paper presents a new model named as Gated Bidirectional Alignment Network (GBAN), which consists of an attention-based bidirectional alignment network over LSTM hidden states to explicitly capture the alignment relationship between speech and text, and a novel group gated fusion (GGF) layer to integrate the representations of different modalities. We empirically show that the attention-aligned representations outperform the last-hidden-states of LSTM significantly, and the proposed GBAN model outperforms existing state-of-the-art multimodal approaches on the IEMOCAP dataset.

Object Structure from Manipulation via Particle Filter and Robot-based Active Learning

Kun Li, Max Q. -H. Meng

To learn object models for robotic manipulation, unsupervised methods cannot provide accurate object structural information and supervised methods require a large amount of manually labeled training samples, thus interactive object segmentation is developed to automate object modeling. In this article, we formulate a novel dynamic process for interactive object segmentation, and develop a solution based on particle filter and active learning so that a robot can manipulate and learn object structures incrementally and automatically. We demonstrate our method with a humanoidrobot on different types of objects, and compare its segmentation performancewith established methods on selected objects. The result shows that our approach allows more accurate object modeling and reveals richer object structural information.
