Car-Studio: Learning Car Radiance Fields from Single-View and Endless In-the-wild Images

Tianyu Liu, Hao Zhao, Yang Yu et al.

Compositional neural scene graph studies have shown that radiance fields can be an efficient tool in an editable autonomous driving simulator. However, previous studies learned within a sequence of autonomous driving datasets, resulting in unsatisfactory blurring when rotating the car in the simulator. In this letter, we propose a pipeline for learning unconstrained images and building a dataset from processed images. To meet the requirements of the simulator, which demands that the vehicle maintain clarity when the perspective changes and that the contour remains sharp from the background to avoid artifacts when editing, we design a radiation field of the vehicle, a crucial part of the urban scene foreground. Through experiments, we demonstrate that our model achieves competitive performance compared to baselines. Using the datasets built from in-the-wild images, our method gradually presents a controllable appearance editing function. We will release the dataset and code on https://lty2226262.github.io/car-studio/ to facilitate further research in the field.

An Image is Worth 1/2 Tokens After Layer 2: Plug-and-Play Inference Acceleration for Large Vision-Language Models

Liang Chen, Haozhe Zhao, Tianyu Liu et al. · pku

In this study, we identify the inefficient attention phenomena in Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs), notably within prominent models like LLaVA-1.5, QwenVL-Chat and Video-LLaVA. We find out that the attention computation over visual tokens is of extreme inefficiency in the deep layers of popular LVLMs, suggesting a need for a sparser approach compared to textual data handling. To this end, we introduce FastV, a versatile plug-and-play method designed to optimize computational efficiency by learning adaptive attention patterns in early layers and pruning visual tokens in subsequent ones. Our evaluations demonstrate FastV's ability to dramatically reduce computational costs (e.g., a 45 reduction in FLOPs for LLaVA-1.5-13B) without sacrificing performance in a wide range of image and video understanding tasks. The computational efficiency and performance trade-off of FastV are highly customizable and pareto-efficient. It can compress the FLOPs of a 13B-parameter model to achieve a lower budget than that of a 7B-parameter model, while still maintaining superior performance. We believe FastV has practical values for deployment of LVLMs in edge devices and commercial models. Code is released at https://github.com/pkunlp-icler/FastV.

An Intelligent Model for Solving Manpower Scheduling Problems

Lingyu Zhang, Tianyu Liu, Yunhai Wang

The manpower scheduling problem is a critical research field in the resource management area. Based on the existing studies on scheduling problem solutions, this paper transforms the manpower scheduling problem into a combinational optimization problem under multi-constraint conditions from a new perspective. It also uses logical paradigms to build a mathematical model for problem solution and an improved multi-dimensional evolution algorithm for solving the model. Moreover, the constraints discussed in this paper basically cover all the requirements of human resource coordination in modern society and are supported by our experiment results. In the discussion part, we compare our model with other heuristic algorithms or linear programming methods and prove that the model proposed in this paper makes a 25.7% increase in efficiency and a 17% increase in accuracy at most. In addition, to the numerical solution of the manpower scheduling problem, this paper also studies the algorithm for scheduling task list generation and the method of displaying scheduling results. As a result, we not only provide various modifications for the basic algorithm to solve different condition problems but also propose a new algorithm that increases at least 28.91% in time efficiency by comparing with different baseline models.

Integrating Fast Regional Optimization into Sampling-based Kinodynamic Planning for Multirotor Flight

Hongkai Ye, Tianyu Liu, Chao Xu et al.

For real-time multirotor kinodynamic motion planning, the efficiency of sampling-based methods is usually hindered by difficult-to-sample homotopy classes like narrow passages. In this paper, we address this issue by a hybrid scheme. We firstly propose a fast regional optimizer exploiting the information of local environments and then integrate it into a global sampling process to ensure faster convergence. The incorporation of local optimization on different sampling-based methods shows significantly improved success rates and less planning time in various types of challenging environments. We also present a refinement module that fully investigates the resulting trajectory of the global sampling and greatly improves its smoothness with negligible computation effort. Benchmark results illustrate that compared to the state-of-the-art ones, our proposed method can better exploit a previous trajectory. The planning methods are applied to generate trajectories for a simulated quadrotor system, and its capability is validated in real-time applications.

Compare and Select: Video Summarization with Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Tianyu Liu

Video summarization aims at generating concise video summaries from the lengthy videos, to achieve better user watching experience. Due to the subjectivity, purely supervised methods for video summarization may bring the inherent errors from the annotations. To solve the subjectivity problem, we study the general user summarization process. General users usually watch the whole video, compare interesting clips and select some clips to form a final summary. Inspired by the general user behaviours, we formulate the summarization process as multiple sequential decision-making processes, and propose Comparison-Selection Network (CoSNet) based on multi-agent reinforcement learning. Each agent focuses on a video clip and constantly changes its focus during the iterations, and the final focus clips of all agents form the summary. The comparison network provides the agent with the visual feature from clips and the chronological feature from the past round, while the selection network of the agent makes decisions on the change of its focus clip. The specially designed unsupervised reward and supervised reward together contribute to the policy advancement, each containing local and global parts. Extensive experiments on two benchmark datasets show that CoSNet outperforms state-of-the-art unsupervised methods with the unsupervised reward and surpasses most supervised methods with the complete reward.
