MAP-VLA: Memory-Augmented Prompting for Vision-Language-Action Model in Robotic ManipulationRunhao Li, Wenkai Guo, Zhenyu Wu et al.
Pre-trained Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have achieved remarkable success in improving robustness and generalization for end-to-end robotic manipulation. However, these models struggle with long-horizon tasks due to their lack of memory and reliance solely on immediate sensory inputs. To address this limitation, we propose Memory-Augmented Prompting for Vision-Language-Action model (MAP-VLA), a novel framework that empowers pre-trained VLA models with demonstration-derived memory prompts to augment action generation for long-horizon robotic manipulation tasks. To achieve this, MAP-VLA first constructs a memory library from historical demonstrations, where each memory unit captures information about a specific stage of a task. These memory units are implemented as learnable soft prompts optimized through prompt tuning. Then, during real-time task execution, MAP-VLA retrieves relevant memory through trajectory similarity matching and dynamically integrates it into the VLA model for augmented action generation. Importantly, this prompt tuning and retrieval augmentation approach operates as a plug-and-play module for a frozen VLA model, offering a lightweight and flexible solution to improve task performance. Experimental results show that MAP-VLA delivers up to 7.0% absolute performance gains in the simulation benchmark and 25.0% on real robot evaluations for long-horizon tasks, surpassing the current state-of-the-art methods.
ManiGaussian: Dynamic Gaussian Splatting for Multi-task Robotic ManipulationGuanxing Lu, Shiyi Zhang, Ziwei Wang et al.
Performing language-conditioned robotic manipulation tasks in unstructured environments is highly demanded for general intelligent robots. Conventional robotic manipulation methods usually learn semantic representation of the observation for action prediction, which ignores the scene-level spatiotemporal dynamics for human goal completion. In this paper, we propose a dynamic Gaussian Splatting method named ManiGaussian for multi-task robotic manipulation, which mines scene dynamics via future scene reconstruction. Specifically, we first formulate the dynamic Gaussian Splatting framework that infers the semantics propagation in the Gaussian embedding space, where the semantic representation is leveraged to predict the optimal robot action. Then, we build a Gaussian world model to parameterize the distribution in our dynamic Gaussian Splatting framework, which provides informative supervision in the interactive environment via future scene reconstruction. We evaluate our ManiGaussian on 10 RLBench tasks with 166 variations, and the results demonstrate our framework can outperform the state-of-the-art methods by 13.1\% in average success rate. Multiple-Pilot Collaboration for Advanced Remote Intervention using Reinforcement LearningZiwei Wang, Weibang Bai, Zhang Chen et al.
The traditional master-slave teleoperation relies on human expertise without correction mechanisms, resulting in excessive physical and mental workloads. To address these issues, a co-pilot-in-the-loop control framework is investigated for cooperative teleoperation. A deep deterministic policy gradient(DDPG) based agent is realised to effectively restore the master operators' intents without prior knowledge on time delay. The proposed framework allows for introducing an operator (i.e., co-pilot) to generate commands at the slave side, whose weights are optimally assigned online through DDPG-based arbitration, thereby enhancing the command robustness in the case of possible human operational errors. With the help of interval type-2(IT2) Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy identification, force feedback can be reconstructed at the master side without a sense of delay, thus ensuring the telepresence performance in the force-sensor-free scenarios. Two experimental applications validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

Dual-arm Coordinated Manipulation for Object Twisting with Human IntelligenceWeibang Bai, Ningshan Zhang, Baoru Huang et al.
Robotic dual-arm twisting is a common but very challenging task in both industrial production and daily services, as it often requires dexterous collaboration, a large scale of end-effector rotating, and good adaptivity for object manipulation. Meanwhile, safety and efficiency are preliminary concerns for robotic dual-arm coordinated manipulation. Thus, the normally adopted fully automated task execution approaches based on environmental perception and motion planning techniques are still inadequate and problematic for the arduous twisting tasks. To this end, this paper presents a novel strategy of the dual-arm coordinated control for twisting manipulation based on the combination of optimized motion planning for one arm and real-time telecontrol with human intelligence for the other. The analysis and simulation results showed it can achieve collision and singularity free for dual arms with enhanced dexterity, safety, and efficiency.

Shared Control for Bimanual Telesurgery with Optimized Robotic PartnerZiwei Wang, Yanpei Huang, Xiaoxiao Cheng et al.
Traditional telesurgery relies on the surgeon's full control of the robot on the patient's side, which tends to increase surgeon fatigue and may reduce the efficiency of the operation. This paper introduces a Robotic Partner (RP) to facilitate intuitive bimanual telesurgery, aiming at reducing the surgeon workload and enhancing surgeon-assisted capability. An interval type-2 polynomial fuzzy-model-based learning algorithm is employed to extract expert domain knowledge from surgeons and reflect environmental interaction information. Based on this, a bimanual shared control is developed to interact with the other robot teleoperated by the surgeon, understanding their control and providing assistance. As prior information of the environment model is not required, it reduces reliance on force sensors in control design. Experimental results on the DaVinci Surgical System show that the RP could assist peg-transfer tasks and reduce the surgeon's workload by 51\% in force-sensor-free scenarios.
