TC-SKNet with GridMask for Low-complexity Classification of Acoustic scene

Luyuan Xie, Yan Zhong, Lin Yang et al.

Convolution neural networks (CNNs) have good performance in low-complexity classification tasks such as acoustic scene classifications (ASCs). However, there are few studies on the relationship between the length of target speech and the size of the convolution kernels. In this paper, we combine Selective Kernel Network with Temporal-Convolution (TC-SKNet) to adjust the receptive field of convolution kernels to solve the problem of variable length of target voice while keeping low-complexity. GridMask is a data augmentation strategy by masking part of the raw data or feature area. It can enhance the generalization of the model as the role of dropout. In our experiments, the performance gain brought by GridMask is stronger than spectrum augmentation in ASCs. Finally, we adopt AutoML to search best structure of TC-SKNet and hyperparameters of GridMask for improving the classification performance. As a result, a peak accuracy of 59.87% TC-SKNet is equivalent to that of SOTA, but the parameters only use 20.9 K.

Towards Lightweight Applications: Asymmetric Enroll-Verify Structure for Speaker Verification

Qingjian Lin, Lin Yang, Xuyang Wang et al.

With the development of deep learning, automatic speaker verification has made considerable progress over the past few years. However, to design a lightweight and robust system with limited computational resources is still a challenging problem. Traditionally, a speaker verification system is symmetrical, indicating that the same embedding extraction model is applied for both enrollment and verification in inference. In this paper, we come up with an innovative asymmetric structure, which takes the large-scale ECAPA-TDNN model for enrollment and the small-scale ECAPA-TDNNLite model for verification. As a symmetrical system, our proposed ECAPA-TDNNLite model achieves an EER of 3.07% on the Voxceleb1 original test set with only 11.6M FLOPS. Moreover, the asymmetric structure further reduces the EER to 2.31%, without increasing any computational costs during verification.

Weiqing Wang, Danwei Cai, Qingjian Lin et al.

This report describes the submission of the DKU-DukeECE-Lenovo team to the VoxCeleb Speaker Recognition Challenge (VoxSRC) 2021 track 4. Our system including a voice activity detection (VAD) model, a speaker embedding model, two clustering-based speaker diarization systems with different similarity measurements, two different overlapped speech detection (OSD) models, and a target-speaker voice activity detection (TS-VAD) model. Our final submission, consisting of 5 independent systems, achieves a DER of 5.07% on the challenge test set.

Exploring Voice Conversion based Data Augmentation in Text-Dependent Speaker Verification

Xiaoyi Qin, Yaogen Yang, Lin Yang et al.

In this paper, we focus on improving the performance of the text-dependent speaker verification system in the scenario of limited training data. The speaker verification system deep learning based text-dependent generally needs a large scale text-dependent training data set which could be labor and cost expensive, especially for customized new wake-up words. In recent studies, voice conversion systems that can generate high quality synthesized speech of seen and unseen speakers have been proposed. Inspired by those works, we adopt two different voice conversion methods as well as the very simple re-sampling approach to generate new text-dependent speech samples for data augmentation purposes. Experimental results show that the proposed method significantly improves the Equal Error Rare performance from 6.51% to 4.51% in the scenario of limited training data.

Training Wake Word Detection with Synthesized Speech Data on Confusion Words

Yan Jia, Zexin Cai, Murong Ma et al.

Confusing-words are commonly encountered in real-life keyword spotting applications, which causes severe degradation of performance due to complex spoken terms and various kinds of words that sound similar to the predefined keywords. To enhance the wake word detection system's robustness on such scenarios, we investigate two data augmentation setups for training end-to-end KWS systems. One is involving the synthesized data from a multi-speaker speech synthesis system, and the other augmentation is performed by adding random noise to the acoustic feature. Experimental results show that augmentations help improve the system's robustness. Moreover, by augmenting the training set with the synthetic data generated by the multi-speaker text-to-speech system, we achieve a significant improvement regarding confusing words scenario.

Acoustic Word Embedding System for Code-Switching Query-by-example Spoken Term Detection

Murong Ma, Haiwei Wu, Xuyang Wang et al.

In this paper, we propose a deep convolutional neural network-based acoustic word embedding system on code-switching query by example spoken term detection. Different from previous configurations, we combine audio data in two languages for training instead of only using one single language. We transform the acoustic features of keyword templates and searching content to fixed-dimensional vectors and calculate the distances between keyword segments and searching content segments obtained in a sliding manner. An auxiliary variability-invariant loss is also applied to training data within the same word but different speakers. This strategy is used to prevent the extractor from encoding undesired speaker- or accent-related information into the acoustic word embeddings. Experimental results show that our proposed system produces promising searching results in the code-switching test scenario. With the increased number of templates and the employment of variability-invariant loss, the searching performance is further enhanced.

DIHARD II is Still Hard: Experimental Results and Discussions from the DKU-LENOVO Team

Qingjian Lin, Weicheng Cai, Lin Yang et al.

In this paper, we present the submitted system for the second DIHARD Speech Diarization Challenge from the DKULENOVO team. Our diarization system includes multiple modules, namely voice activity detection (VAD), segmentation, speaker embedding extraction, similarity scoring, clustering, resegmentation and overlap detection. For each module, we explore different techniques to enhance performance. Our final submission employs the ResNet-LSTM based VAD, the Deep ResNet based speaker embedding, the LSTM based similarity scoring and spectral clustering. Variational Bayes (VB) diarization is applied in the resegmentation stage and overlap detection also brings slight improvement. Our proposed system achieves 18.84% DER in Track1 and 27.90% DER in Track2. Although our systems have reduced the DERs by 27.5% and 31.7% relatively against the official baselines, we believe that the diarization task is still very difficult.
