Contrast-augmented Diffusion Model with Fine-grained Sequence Alignment for Markup-to-Image Generation

Guojin Zhong, Jin Yuan, Pan Wang et al.

The recently rising markup-to-image generation poses greater challenges as compared to natural image generation, due to its low tolerance for errors as well as the complex sequence and context correlations between markup and rendered image. This paper proposes a novel model named "Contrast-augmented Diffusion Model with Fine-grained Sequence Alignment" (FSA-CDM), which introduces contrastive positive/negative samples into the diffusion model to boost performance for markup-to-image generation. Technically, we design a fine-grained cross-modal alignment module to well explore the sequence similarity between the two modalities for learning robust feature representations. To improve the generalization ability, we propose a contrast-augmented diffusion model to explicitly explore positive and negative samples by maximizing a novel contrastive variational objective, which is mathematically inferred to provide a tighter bound for the model's optimization. Moreover, the context-aware cross attention module is developed to capture the contextual information within markup language during the denoising process, yielding better noise prediction results. Extensive experiments are conducted on four benchmark datasets from different domains, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed components in FSA-CDM, significantly exceeding state-of-the-art performance by about 2%-12% DTW improvements. The code will be released at https://github.com/zgj77/FSACDM.

PVPUFormer: Probabilistic Visual Prompt Unified Transformer for Interactive Image Segmentation

Xu Zhang, Kailun Yang, Jiacheng Lin et al.

Integration of diverse visual prompts like clicks, scribbles, and boxes in interactive image segmentation significantly facilitates users' interaction as well as improves interaction efficiency. However, existing studies primarily encode the position or pixel regions of prompts without considering the contextual areas around them, resulting in insufficient prompt feedback, which is not conducive to performance acceleration. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a simple yet effective Probabilistic Visual Prompt Unified Transformer (PVPUFormer) for interactive image segmentation, which allows users to flexibly input diverse visual prompts with the probabilistic prompt encoding and feature post-processing to excavate sufficient and robust prompt features for performance boosting. Specifically, we first propose a Probabilistic Prompt-unified Encoder (PPuE) to generate a unified one-dimensional vector by exploring both prompt and non-prompt contextual information, offering richer feedback cues to accelerate performance improvement. On this basis, we further present a Prompt-to-Pixel Contrastive (P$^2$C) loss to accurately align both prompt and pixel features, bridging the representation gap between them to offer consistent feature representations for mask prediction. Moreover, our approach designs a Dual-cross Merging Attention (DMA) module to implement bidirectional feature interaction between image and prompt features, generating notable features for performance improvement. A comprehensive variety of experiments on several challenging datasets demonstrates that the proposed components achieve consistent improvements, yielding state-of-the-art interactive segmentation performance. Expression Prompt Collaboration Transformer for Universal Referring Video Object Segmentation

Jiajun Chen, Jiacheng Lin, Guojin Zhong et al.

Audio-guided Video Object Segmentation (A-VOS) and Referring Video Object Segmentation (R-VOS) are two highly related tasks that both aim to segment specific objects from video sequences according to expression prompts. However, due to the challenges of modeling representations for different modalities, existing methods struggle to strike a balance between interaction flexibility and localization precision. In this paper, we address this problem from two perspectives: the alignment of audio and text and the deep interaction among audio, text, and visual modalities. First, we propose a universal architecture, the Expression Prompt Collaboration Transformer, herein EPCFormer. Next, we propose an Expression Alignment (EA) mechanism for audio and text. The proposed EPCFormer exploits the fact that audio and text prompts referring to the same objects are semantically equivalent by using contrastive learning for both types of expressions. Then, to facilitate deep interactions among audio, text, and visual modalities, we introduce an Expression-Visual Attention (EVA) module. The knowledge of video object segmentation in terms of the expression prompts can seamlessly transfer between the two tasks by deeply exploring complementary cues between text and audio. Experiments on well-recognized benchmarks demonstrate that our EPCFormer attains state-of-the-art results on both tasks. The source code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/lab206/EPCFormer.

EchoTrack: Auditory Referring Multi-Object Tracking for Autonomous Driving

Jiacheng Lin, Jiajun Chen, Kunyu Peng et al.

This paper introduces the task of Auditory Referring Multi-Object Tracking (AR-MOT), which dynamically tracks specific objects in a video sequence based on audio expressions and appears as a challenging problem in autonomous driving. Due to the lack of semantic modeling capacity in audio and video, existing works have mainly focused on text-based multi-object tracking, which often comes at the cost of tracking quality, interaction efficiency, and even the safety of assistance systems, limiting the application of such methods in autonomous driving. In this paper, we delve into the problem of AR-MOT from the perspective of audio-video fusion and audio-video tracking. We put forward EchoTrack, an end-to-end AR-MOT framework with dual-stream vision transformers. The dual streams are intertwined with our Bidirectional Frequency-domain Cross-attention Fusion Module (Bi-FCFM), which bidirectionally fuses audio and video features from both frequency- and spatiotemporal domains. Moreover, we propose the Audio-visual Contrastive Tracking Learning (ACTL) regime to extract homogeneous semantic features between expressions and visual objects by learning homogeneous features between different audio and video objects effectively. Aside from the architectural design, we establish the first set of large-scale AR-MOT benchmarks, including Echo-KITTI, Echo-KITTI+, and Echo-BDD. Extensive experiments on the established benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed EchoTrack and its components. The source code and datasets are available at https://github.com/lab206/EchoTrack.

Unveiling the Potential of Segment Anything Model 2 for RGB-Thermal Semantic Segmentation with Language Guidance

Jiayi Zhao, Fei Teng, Kai Luo et al.

The perception capability of robotic systems relies on the richness of the dataset. Although Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM2), trained on large datasets, demonstrates strong perception potential in perception tasks, its inherent training paradigm prevents it from being suitable for RGB-T tasks. To address these challenges, we propose SHIFNet, a novel SAM2-driven Hybrid Interaction Paradigm that unlocks the potential of SAM2 with linguistic guidance for efficient RGB-Thermal perception. Our framework consists of two key components: (1) Semantic-Aware Cross-modal Fusion (SACF) module that dynamically balances modality contributions through text-guided affinity learning, overcoming SAM2's inherent RGB bias; (2) Heterogeneous Prompting Decoder (HPD) that enhances global semantic information through a semantic enhancement module and then combined with category embeddings to amplify cross-modal semantic consistency. With 32.27M trainable parameters, SHIFNet achieves state-of-the-art segmentation performance on public benchmarks, reaching 89.8% on PST900 and 67.8% on FMB, respectively. The framework facilitates the adaptation of pre-trained large models to RGB-T segmentation tasks, effectively mitigating the high costs associated with data collection while endowing robotic systems with comprehensive perception capabilities. The source code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/iAsakiT3T/SHIFNet.

MambaMOS: LiDAR-based 3D Moving Object Segmentation with Motion-aware State Space Model

Kang Zeng, Hao Shi, Jiacheng Lin et al.

LiDAR-based Moving Object Segmentation (MOS) aims to locate and segment moving objects in point clouds of the current scan using motion information from previous scans. Despite the promising results achieved by previous MOS methods, several key issues, such as the weak coupling of temporal and spatial information, still need further study. In this paper, we propose a novel LiDAR-based 3D Moving Object Segmentation with Motion-aware State Space Model, termed MambaMOS. Firstly, we develop a novel embedding module, the Time Clue Bootstrapping Embedding (TCBE), to enhance the coupling of temporal and spatial information in point clouds and alleviate the issue of overlooked temporal clues. Secondly, we introduce the Motion-aware State Space Model (MSSM) to endow the model with the capacity to understand the temporal correlations of the same object across different time steps. Specifically, MSSM emphasizes the motion states of the same object at different time steps through two distinct temporal modeling and correlation steps. We utilize an improved state space model to represent these motion differences, significantly modeling the motion states. Finally, extensive experiments on the SemanticKITTI-MOS and KITTI-Road benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed MambaMOS achieves state-of-the-art performance. LF Tracy: A Unified Single-Pipeline Approach for Salient Object Detection in Light Field Cameras

Fei Teng, Jiaming Zhang, Jiawei Liu et al.

Leveraging rich information is crucial for dense prediction tasks. Light field (LF) cameras are instrumental in this regard, as they allow data to be sampled from various perspectives. This capability provides valuable spatial, depth, and angular information, enhancing scene-parsing tasks. However, we have identified two overlooked issues for the LF salient object detection (SOD) task. (1): Previous approaches predominantly employ a customized two-stream design to discover the spatial and depth features within light field images. The network struggles to learn the implicit angular information between different images due to a lack of intra-network data connectivity. (2): Little research has been directed towards the data augmentation strategy for LF SOD. Research on inter-network data connectivity is scant. In this study, we propose an efficient paradigm (LF Tracy) to address those issues. This comprises a single-pipeline encoder paired with a highly efficient information aggregation (IA) module (around 8M parameters) to establish an intra-network connection. Then, a simple yet effective data augmentation strategy called MixLD is designed to bridge the inter-network connections. Owing to this innovative paradigm, our model surpasses the existing state-of-the-art method through extensive experiments. Especially, LF Tracy demonstrates a 23% improvement over previous results on the latest large-scale PKU dataset. The source code is publicly available at: https://github.com/FeiBryantkit/LF-Tracy.

Panoramic Out-of-Distribution Segmentation for Autonomous Driving

Mengfei Duan, Yuheng Zhang, Yihong Cao et al.

Panoramic imaging enables capturing 360° images with an ultra-wide Field-of-View (FoV) for dense omnidirectional perception, which is critical to applications, such as autonomous driving and augmented reality, etc. However, current panoramic semantic segmentation methods fail to identify outliers, and pinhole Out-of-distribution Segmentation (OoS) models perform unsatisfactorily in the panoramic domain due to background clutter and pixel distortions. To address these issues, we introduce a new task, Panoramic Out-of-distribution Segmentation (PanOoS), with the aim of achieving comprehensive and safe scene understanding. Furthermore, we propose the first solution, POS, which adapts to the characteristics of panoramic images through text-guided prompt distribution learning. Specifically, POS integrates a disentanglement strategy designed to materialize the cross-domain generalization capability of CLIP. The proposed Prompt-based Restoration Attention (PRA) optimizes semantic decoding by prompt guidance and self-adaptive correction, while Bilevel Prompt Distribution Learning (BPDL) refines the manifold of per-pixel mask embeddings via semantic prototype supervision. Besides, to compensate for the scarcity of PanOoS datasets, we establish two benchmarks: DenseOoS, which features diverse outliers in complex environments, and QuadOoS, captured by a quadruped robot with a panoramic annular lens system. Extensive experiments demonstrate superior performance of POS, with AuPRC improving by 34.25% and FPR95 decreasing by 21.42% on DenseOoS, outperforming state-of-the-art pinhole-OoS methods. Moreover, POS achieves leading closed-set segmentation capabilities and advances the development of panoramic understanding. Code and datasets will be available at https://github.com/MengfeiD/PanOoS.

DTCLMapper: Dual Temporal Consistent Learning for Vectorized HD Map Construction

Siyu Li, Jiacheng Lin, Hao Shi et al.

Temporal information plays a pivotal role in Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) driving scene understanding, which can alleviate the visual information sparsity. However, the indiscriminate temporal fusion method will cause the barrier of feature redundancy when constructing vectorized High-Definition (HD) maps. In this paper, we revisit the temporal fusion of vectorized HD maps, focusing on temporal instance consistency and temporal map consistency learning. To improve the representation of instances in single-frame maps, we introduce a novel method, DTCLMapper. This approach uses a dual-stream temporal consistency learning module that combines instance embedding with geometry maps. In the instance embedding component, our approach integrates temporal Instance Consistency Learning (ICL), ensuring consistency from vector points and instance features aggregated from points. A vectorized points pre-selection module is employed to enhance the regression efficiency of vector points from each instance. Then aggregated instance features obtained from the vectorized points preselection module are grounded in contrastive learning to realize temporal consistency, where positive and negative samples are selected based on position and semantic information. The geometry mapping component introduces Map Consistency Learning (MCL) designed with self-supervised learning. The MCL enhances the generalization capability of our consistent learning approach by concentrating on the global location and distribution constraints of the instances. Extensive experiments on well-recognized benchmarks indicate that the proposed DTCLMapper achieves state-of-the-art performance in vectorized mapping tasks, reaching 61.9% and 65.1% mAP scores on the nuScenes and Argoverse datasets, respectively. S$^3$-MonoDETR: Supervised Shape&Scale-perceptive Deformable Transformer for Monocular 3D Object Detection

Xuan He, Jin Yuan, Kailun Yang et al.

Recently, transformer-based methods have shown exceptional performance in monocular 3D object detection, which can predict 3D attributes from a single 2D image. These methods typically use visual and depth representations to generate query points on objects, whose quality plays a decisive role in the detection accuracy. However, current unsupervised attention mechanisms without any geometry appearance awareness in transformers are susceptible to producing noisy features for query points, which severely limits the network performance and also makes the model have a poor ability to detect multi-category objects in a single training process. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a novel ``Supervised Shape&Scale-perceptive Deformable Attention'' (S$^3$-DA) module for monocular 3D object detection. Concretely, S$^3$-DA utilizes visual and depth features to generate diverse local features with various shapes and scales and predict the corresponding matching distribution simultaneously to impose valuable shape&scale perception for each query. Benefiting from this, S$^3$-DA effectively estimates receptive fields for query points belonging to any category, enabling them to generate robust query features. Besides, we propose a Multi-classification-based Shape&Scale Matching (MSM) loss to supervise the above process. Extensive experiments on KITTI and Waymo Open datasets demonstrate that S$^3$-DA significantly improves the detection accuracy, yielding state-of-the-art performance of single-category and multi-category 3D object detection in a single training process compared to the existing approaches. The source code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/mikasa3lili/S3-MonoDETR.

SSD-MonoDETR: Supervised Scale-aware Deformable Transformer for Monocular 3D Object Detection

Xuan He, Fan Yang, Kailun Yang et al.

Transformer-based methods have demonstrated superior performance for monocular 3D object detection recently, which aims at predicting 3D attributes from a single 2D image. Most existing transformer-based methods leverage both visual and depth representations to explore valuable query points on objects, and the quality of the learned query points has a great impact on detection accuracy. Unfortunately, existing unsupervised attention mechanisms in transformers are prone to generate low-quality query features due to inaccurate receptive fields, especially on hard objects. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a novel "Supervised Scale-aware Deformable Attention" (SSDA) for monocular 3D object detection. Specifically, SSDA presets several masks with different scales and utilizes depth and visual features to adaptively learn a scale-aware filter for object query augmentation. Imposing the scale awareness, SSDA could well predict the accurate receptive field of an object query to support robust query feature generation. Aside from this, SSDA is assigned with a Weighted Scale Matching (WSM) loss to supervise scale prediction, which presents more confident results as compared to the unsupervised attention mechanisms. Extensive experiments on the KITTI and Waymo Open datasets demonstrate that SSDA significantly improves the detection accuracy, especially on moderate and hard objects, yielding state-of-the-art performance as compared to the existing approaches. Our code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/mikasa3lili/SSD-MonoDETR.

Bi-Mapper: Holistic BEV Semantic Mapping for Autonomous Driving

Siyu Li, Kailun Yang, Hao Shi et al.

A semantic map of the road scene, covering fundamental road elements, is an essential ingredient in autonomous driving systems. It provides important perception foundations for positioning and planning when rendered in the Bird's-Eye-View (BEV). Currently, the prior knowledge of hypothetical depth can guide the learning of translating front perspective views into BEV directly with the help of calibration parameters. However, it suffers from geometric distortions in the representation of distant objects. In addition, another stream of methods without prior knowledge can learn the transformation between front perspective views and BEV implicitly with a global view. Considering that the fusion of different learning methods may bring surprising beneficial effects, we propose a Bi-Mapper framework for top-down road-scene semantic understanding, which incorporates a global view and local prior knowledge. To enhance reliable interaction between them, an asynchronous mutual learning strategy is proposed. At the same time, an Across-Space Loss (ASL) is designed to mitigate the negative impact of geometric distortions. Extensive results on nuScenes and Cam2BEV datasets verify the consistent effectiveness of each module in the proposed Bi-Mapper framework. Compared with exiting road mapping networks, the proposed Bi-Mapper achieves 2.1% higher IoU on the nuScenes dataset. Moreover, we verify the generalization performance of Bi-Mapper in a real-world driving scenario. The source code is publicly available at https://github.com/lynn-yu/Bi-Mapper.

STURE: Spatial-Temporal Mutual Representation Learning for Robust Data Association in Online Multi-Object Tracking

Haidong Wang, Zhiyong Li, Yaping Li et al.

Online multi-object tracking (MOT) is a longstanding task for computer vision and intelligent vehicle platform. At present, the main paradigm is tracking-by-detection, and the main difficulty of this paradigm is how to associate current candidate detections with historical tracklets. However, in the MOT scenarios, each historical tracklet is composed of an object sequence, while each candidate detection is just a flat image, which lacks temporal features of the object sequence. The feature difference between current candidate detections and historical tracklets makes the object association much harder. Therefore, we propose a Spatial-Temporal Mutual Representation Learning (STURE) approach which learns spatial-temporal representations between current candidate detections and historical sequences in a mutual representation space. For historical trackelets, the detection learning network is forced to match the representations of sequence learning network in a mutual representation space. The proposed approach is capable of extracting more distinguishing detection and sequence representations by using various designed losses in object association. As a result, spatial-temporal feature is learned mutually to reinforce the current detection features, and the feature difference can be relieved. To prove the robustness of the STURE, it is applied to the public MOT challenge benchmarks and performs well compared with various state-of-the-art online MOT trackers based on identity-preserving metrics.
