Residual-guided Personalized Speech Synthesis based on Face ImageJianrong Wang, Zixuan Wang, Xiaosheng Hu et al.
Previous works derive personalized speech features by training the model on a large dataset composed of his/her audio sounds. It was reported that face information has a strong link with the speech sound. Thus in this work, we innovatively extract personalized speech features from human faces to synthesize personalized speech using neural vocoder. A Face-based Residual Personalized Speech Synthesis Model (FR-PSS) containing a speech encoder, a speech synthesizer and a face encoder is designed for PSS. In this model, by designing two speech priors, a residual-guided strategy is introduced to guide the face feature to approach the true speech feature in the training. Moreover, considering the error of feature's absolute values and their directional bias, we formulate a novel tri-item loss function for face encoder. Experimental results show that the speech synthesized by our model is comparable to the personalized speech synthesized by training a large amount of audio data in previous works.

Improved Unet model for brain tumor image segmentation based on ASPP-coordinate attention mechanismZixuan Wang, Yanlin Chen, Feiyang Wang et al.
In this paper, we propose an improved Unet model for brain tumor image segmentation, which combines coordinate attention mechanism and ASPP module to improve the segmentation effect. After the data set is divided, we do the necessary preprocessing to the image and use the improved model to experiment. First, we trained and validated the traditional Unet model. By analyzing the loss curve of the training set and the validation set, we can see that the loss value continues to decline at the first epoch and becomes stable at the eighth epoch. This process shows that the model constantly optimizes its parameters to improve performance. At the same time, the change in the miou (mean Intersection over Union) index shows that the miou value exceeded 0.6 at the 15th epoch, remained above 0.6 thereafter, and reached above 0.7 at the 46th epoch. These results indicate that the basic Unet model is effective in brain tumor image segmentation. Next, we introduce an improved Unet algorithm based on coordinate attention mechanism and ASPP module for experiments. By observing the loss change curves of the training set and the verification set, it is found that the loss value reaches the lowest point at the sixth epoch and then remains relatively stable. At the same time, the miou indicator has stabilized above 0.7 since the 20th epoch and has reached a maximum of 0.76. These results show that the new mechanism introduced significantly improves the segmentation ability of the model. Finally, we apply the trained traditional Unet model and the improved Unet model based on the coordinate attention mechanism and ASPP module to the test set for brain tumor image segmentation prediction. Compared to the traditional Unet, the enhanced model offers superior segmentation and edge accuracy, providing a more reliable method for medical image analysis with the coordinate attention mechanism and ASPP module.
LA3: Efficient Label-Aware AutoAugmentMingjun Zhao, Shan Lu, Zixuan Wang et al.
Automated augmentation is an emerging and effective technique to search for data augmentation policies to improve generalizability of deep neural network training. Most existing work focuses on constructing a unified policy applicable to all data samples in a given dataset, without considering sample or class variations. In this paper, we propose a novel two-stage data augmentation algorithm, named Label-Aware AutoAugment (LA3), which takes advantage of the label information, and learns augmentation policies separately for samples of different labels. LA3 consists of two learning stages, where in the first stage, individual augmentation methods are evaluated and ranked for each label via Bayesian Optimization aided by a neural predictor, which allows us to identify effective augmentation techniques for each label under a low search cost. And in the second stage, a composite augmentation policy is constructed out of a selection of effective as well as complementary augmentations, which produces significant performance boost and can be easily deployed in typical model training. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LA3 achieves excellent performance matching or surpassing existing methods on CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100, and achieves a new state-of-the-art ImageNet accuracy of 79.97% on ResNet-50 among auto-augmentation methods, while maintaining a low computational cost.

Geometric VLAD for Large Scale Image SearchZixuan Wang, Wei Di, Anurag Bhardwaj et al.
We present a novel compact image descriptor for large scale image search. Our proposed descriptor - Geometric VLAD (gVLAD) is an extension of VLAD (Vector of Locally Aggregated Descriptors) that incorporates weak geometry information into the VLAD framework. The proposed geometry cues are derived as a membership function over keypoint angles which contain evident and informative information but yet often discarded. A principled technique for learning the membership function by clustering angles is also presented. Further, to address the overhead of iterative codebook training over real-time datasets, a novel codebook adaptation strategy is outlined. Finally, we demonstrate the efficacy of proposed gVLAD based retrieval framework where we achieve more than 15% improvement in mAP over existing benchmarks.

Who and Where: People and Location Co-ClusteringZixuan Wang, Jinyun Yan
In this paper, we consider the clustering problem on images where each image contains patches in people and location domains. We exploit the correlation between people and location domains, and proposed a semi-supervised co-clustering algorithm to cluster images. Our algorithm updates the correlation links at the runtime, and produces clustering in both domains simultaneously. We conduct experiments in a manually collected dataset and a Flickr dataset. The result shows that the such correlation improves the clustering performance.
